hate how people can be terminally annoying abt capt beefheart online :/

#lol i just hate reading or seeing reviews abt trout mask replica that r like 'its supposed to sound bad'#and it doesnt really sound bad or anything the band is just playing rly cool lol#i mean like obv frownland is jarring but once the album settles its just like really beautiful amazing art blues rock stuff with poetry#i guess its hard to explain what annoys me abt those ppl ig they try to make the music seem like an acquired taste or smthn#but its just great music from a great band#lol i just hate the idea of idiots making like 20 min long video essays explaining why you should like a 3 min song#like i love love love tmr and everything beefheart did so i guess it annoys me that ppl act like he was just trolling#when he legitimately has a great singing voice and plays instruments rly good#i mean listen to the way he plays harmonica and its very clear he isnt 'trying to be bad'

I am in such a Sleigh Ride mood today

#you know what I miss most from growing up on base overseas is the band#we were in yokosuka which is where the flagship/staff for the seventh fleet is based#and thus the base was also home to the seventh fleet band#so on holidays and for special events and heck for my dad's change of command the seventh fleet band would play#and not only concert or ceremonial stuff: they had really great rock and country groups too#and this is like really high quality professional music#that in most communities you'd have to pay to see or at least it is nowhere near as accessible#but I got to grow up hearing professional musicians play great music of every style and genre at every community event#because that is just what the military bands do#they came and did master classes with our high school band too#I dunno when I'm homesick for something it's not Japan really#it's that base culture that I can't explain quite right to anyone who hasn't lived on base overseas
