idk if anyone has done this yet but I just wanted to share close-ups of each of the custom signs Richas, Pomme and Bad made, with individual alt-text descriptions (the descriptions are a bit subjective but I wanted to make them as vivid as I could because I feel like these designs deserve that)

I might include my own feedback in a reblog, to get extra subjective, but the main gist of it would be that these are super cute and much much easier to read.

Note that these are not the final designs! Richas, Pomme and Bad said they're still working on them and asking for feedback, especially in regards to the accessibility aspect.

1:

Pomme's custom canvas sign on a wall. This will be the most detailed description since it's the first: The sign has a wooden frame that surrounds a red canvas. The canvas has a very subtle patchwork like texture and is slightly darker on the edges than in the middle. The text is a slightly transparent white (effectively beige) and reads Pomme in all caps.

The custom texture pack version is a much darker shade of red, which makes the contrast between the text and the background much bigger and thus the text much more readable. The frame is also decorated with a little French flag in the bottom left corner and tree branches with green leaves and apples on the right. The leaves and apples overlap the canvas portion slightly. The overall vibe is very classy and makes you think of a roadsign advertising a French vineyard. Or I guess more like an orchard in this case.

2:

Sunny's custom sign: The colour is a much softer and lighter orange than before, almost more like a warm yellow. The text is black like in all the lighter coloured signs. The frame is decorated with sparkly blue diamonds, a small diamond shaped one in the lower left corner with sparkles almost as big as itself, and one big one in the lower right corner which is in the princess cut shape. The general vibe is like a pre-teen girl's notebook decorated with glittery stickers.

3:

Chayanne's custom sign: The colour is a very soft and pale lemon yellow. The frame is covered in subtle vines on the top and the bottom. In the lower left corner there's a small orange pumpkin among the vines, and in the lower right corner there's a little yellow rubber duckie, also partially covered in vines, which does blend into the background a little bit where it overlaps the yellow canvas. The vibe is very cottagecore but also very childlike, this could be a sign for some kind of family vacation location with cabins and gardens.

4:

Tallulah's custom sign: The colour is medium pink, somewhere between her original pink signs (now used by Pepito) and her current magenta signs. Clearly lighter than the latter, but darker than the former. The frame is decorated with poppies in the lower right corner, and some kind of blue flower, maybe a blue lily, on the lower left corner. One of the blue flowers also sort of peeks into the frame on the right between the poppies, right in the corner. The flowers are of course framed by their leaves, which reach out towards the middle around them. This definitely has the vibe of a sign for a flower garden, probably one maintained by a little old lady who loves pink.

5:

Richarlyson's custom sign: The colour is a deeper indigo blue than his original signs, like deep blue denim. The text colour is the same light beige as Pomme's signs and as all the darker coloured signs. The frame is decorated with a tiny Brazilian flag in the lower right corner, and red-cap mushrooms in the lower left corner. The mushrooms seem to be releasing little white spores into the air, some of which can be seen in the top right corner as well. I can't quite pin down the vibe. There's something a bit fairy tale like, like a storybook maybe. You half expect a little troll creature to show up. But also… random Brazilian flag I guess lol

6:

Empanada's custom sign: The colour seems to be the same soft beige as before, I can't tell if it has changed at all. The frame is covered in golden syrup in the top left corner, which spreads out all over that side of the sign, dripping down in big goopy clumps. It looks delicious and I don't even care that much for syrup. The lower right corner across from it is decorated with white flowers, maybe white cherry blossoms? The flowers are stemless and leafless, just the flower floating over the frame and the canvas. One big one and one small one. There seem to also be small petals floating in the other two corners of the sign, over the canvas. One petal is even floating on the syrup where it drips down on the left. This would definitely be a sign for a small independent bakery.

7:

Ramón's custom sign: The colour is the same white as always, I don't think it has changed at all. The frame is very simply decorated with copper-coloured gears in the lower left and lower right corners, with one particularly big gear on the right side. It doesn't bring any particular vibes to mind but it is cute. The gears look very shiny and it fits Ramón very well. I guess the thing that it most reminds me of is actually Ramón's elevator shaft with its white walls and coppery create machinery.

8:

Dapper's custom sign: The colour is a darker grey than usual, I would honestly call it black rather than grey. The lower edge of the frame is decorated with what looks like darkened blotches of blood, with white ghostly spirits rising out of them towards the left and right edges of the sign, framing the canvas and partially overlapping it. The ghosts are similar to the souls that rise from soulsand in Minecraft but whiter, with only a hint of blue. The vibe is very Halloweeny of course.

9:

Leonarda's custom sign: The colour is a much deeper purple than before, you could even say a more royal purple. In the lower right corner there's a beautiful sparkly cluster of amethysts which are a lighter pinkish lilac colour and which look absolutely gorgeous, just masterful pixel art crystals. There is an amazing sense of depth and transparency in such a minimal resolution. There are also some pinkish sparkles in the lower left corner to balance out the composition a little bit. I don't know how to describe the vibes but it's beautiful. It's like a much classier version of Sunny's sign (not an insult to Sunny's sign, just a neutral description. It's like the cliché of the nouveau riche versus old money. Sunny's gems make you think of glitter stickers, Leo's look like she just happened to place the sign next to an actual cluster of amethysts with perfect artistic composition. Or maybe like she hired a professional painter to decorate each sign.)

(Okay sorry for the rambling, I just can't get over how pretty these amethysts are. Sunny's diamonds are also very pretty but they do look more like stickers to me)

10:

Pepito's custom sign: I think the colour is a softer and lighter pink than the original, it looks like freshly washed baby clothes. The sign is decorated with a tub of popcorn in the lower right corner, with the classic red-and-white design, which sits partly on the frame but mostly overlaps the canvas. Some popcorn seems to have fallen out and is scattered across the lower edge of the sign. There's also a stripe of alternating red and white on the right (over the edge of the canvas rather than on top of the frame itself) which vaguely makes me think of film reel, probably because of the popcorn. I should note that the white and red on both the tub and the "film" are a bit desaturated and dark, technically the white is more like light grey, which gives an effect of shadow and contrast compared to the very light pink canvas which looks very cool. There's also some subtle white flakes across the sides of the canvas; I'm not sure what they're meant to represent. They're very similar to Empanada's petals. The overall effect of the sign is very retro to me. It makes me think of the sixties.

11:

Gegg's custom sign: The colour is a softer version of the lime green of the original sign, and slightly lighter. The canvas is decorated with a little Gegg pixel art sitting in the lower right corner. Otherwise the sign is undecorated, but there's a subtle effect on the canvas itself that makes it look a bit goopier, like there's a thin film of slime over it. And there's a tiny reflection of light in the upper left corner which adds to the wet look. It's very subtle though, it could very easily be missed if you didn't look at the sign closely. The overall vibe is: Gegg

It's still a... within the past 2 years thing that my disability has become physical and visible. There seem to be different levels of mobility aids, though, in the public's eye.

Level 1: Cane or walking stick. This is totally fine! Lots of older people use canes and other mobility aids, so people don't TOTALLY bat an eye. They do look at me a little concerned because I'm so young, but no one says anything. If anything they just let you sit down more and open doors for you awkwardly early.

Level 2: Rollator/Walker/Crutches of any kind. This is when people start to get concerned and ask you if you've had a recent injury. Or they're scared to ask, so then they compliment literally everything you have on 🤣 When you say that this is a genetic condition, they REALLY don't know what to do with that. But you can still get along just fine by yourself, so it's not a huge deal. All the Level 1 awkward door opening for effect lol.

Level 3: Wheelchair. People lose their collective marbles and begin asking intrusive questions, making assumptions, etc. I've heard of people just moving you like furniture, which has not happened to me. I've also been worried about people FLIPPING out that I'm faking because I'm ambulatory. Like yesterday Z and I got stuck at a few inaccessible curbs in our .8 mile round trip from the restaurant. I would stand up and help him get it onto the curb. I'm SURE that people driving by were curious. I know I thought "IT'S A MIRACLE" every time I got up 😂 I haven't had any nasty encounters yet, but I know that's a big YET. This is also why I'm really opposed to trying to get my disabled parking sticker. NOPE! I'd rather not deal with Karens day in and out.

Any other disabled friends notice these or other effects?

long answer:

this is really tough because i really... don't know. there's a lot of ways this could play out.

like, for one, you're not supposed to be able to die in the dreamscape. ... right? but robin died. maybe her body was attacked shortly after she entered the dream pool thing? it would explain all the gashes on her

but also, the monster that attacked firefly? the way black swan keeps calling it just Death makes me a little unsure... an attack from THAT probably has more real world repercussions than like. getting whacked over the head with a heavy hammer. now, are the real world repercussions DEATH? i'm not sure. black swan and acheron sure do respond like firefly Died-died. and they both know a lot more about the dreamscape than most anyone else

other things to consider are firefly's entropy loss syndrome and the fact that she's a stowaway. i imagine being booted out of the dreamscape because you "died" has some jarring unknown effects. who knows how differently someone whose body is literally fading away respond? also, because she's a stowaway: where... is her body? how did she get into the dreamscape in the first place? can she get back in? lots of unanswered questions here. even if she didn't DIE due to all her unique circumstances she might not be 100% Okay

but ANOTHER thing is firefly will be a playable character. this doesn't guarantee that she's okay - like, *points at tingyun* this wouldn't be the first time a character with an ambiguous-but-probably-Not-Good fate is added to the gacha. but it gives me some hope, because we got a decent amount of time with tingyun before the phantylia reveal. and we were able to meet other characters she was connected to and learned more about her through them and so on. soooooo there is PROBABLY something else planned for firefly. in some way

one last thing: people are saying she's... sam? this kind of has me scratching my head a lot because ... ???? but in the penacony trailer sam is shown with the same weapon firefly's leaked file assets have. and her type appears to be fire

i think though that it's worth noting that the "sam" we had a boss fight with might not have been the REAL sam. while retracing firefly's memories, she talks to someone named "Mecha." who is probably an accomplice who turned on her? soooo maybe the "sam" we fought was this Mecha and there was just an assumption by stelle & co that it was sam. because like he never introduced himself lol

either way they're definitely connected so even if firefly herself never comes back we still have sam/possibly "mecha" wandering around and we'll get the chance to glean more info from him in the next update. probably.

but yeah in conclusion!!!!!! i don't know 🫶🏾 too hard to tell, too little info available, there's all kinds of foreshadowing in the dreampass stickers and readable texts strewn across the map but i haven't gone through everything and sometimes foreshadowing is only clear in hindsight so that might not help, i am waiting (im)patiently for the next story update

Hey! I really wanna do something with bleach again so for inspo I wanted to check if you had a video dedicated to it but if you do, I can't find it thru the search. Do you?

Ooh no i don’t have a dedicated bleach video! I do have a couple ideas of things one could do (like using different spray bottles to get different effects, like a fine mist versus a bold streak), using stencils (whether handmade real quick out of cardboard / household items/ or proper stickers /tape to make stripes/ lace / fishnet for texture , etc), or doing like dip dyes/dyeing one half of the garment . (You can also get good designs by folding the garment , or give it a tie dye look by rolling it into a swirl like you would an item to tie dye)

You can also hand paint with a paint brush and bleach but I don’t Love this method cause it takes a while and even in a well ventilated bathroom I get quite light headed lol (I’ve seen some cool skeleton rib cage hoodie bleach designs , but one of my fav things I ever bleached was a pair of leggings , one half was just splatters and the other half was kind of trippy intricate hand painting of mushrooms and clouds and eyes and stuff) (if you do this, water your bleach down lots, wear lots of protection and do it in a super ventilated area)

Not sure if that’s helpful in the slightest but I hope so ! Good luck in all your bleach dye projects!

(and please anyone reading this use common safety precautions when working with a harsh chemical like bleach I don’t want anyone to get injured lol)

two different ideas for this one actually. i may do one or both it depends-

idea one is CD's junior detective. they've known her since childhood.

idea two is a car mechanic that fixes up vehicles for benny. they've known him since childhood as well. if i go with this one they get to wield a comically large wrench at some point, maybe to kill one of the other characters since this is a death game.

they lack charisma but they make up for it in likeability and tenacity. also manipulating the shit out of people, which they kind of feel bad about but justify with their desire to survive.

bittersweet sentence

take the autism creature and put it in a human body. that's it that's this self insert.

it has a staring problem but that's because it's observing the other prisoners to see what they do and don't like and how they handle situations.

they also have this weirdly calming effect? keeps yun-woo from snapping and tones down na-hun's energetic ass a bit.

they follow yun-woo and na-hun round like a stray cat. no one knows why. yun-woo has tried to shake them off but they stay anyways. na-hun doesn't mind, he enjoys their company.

it's never outright stated how they ended up in the dreamscape prison but it's implied they were in a really bad situation and bad headspace when they first fell asleep

firmly believes they don't deserve parole so they purposely neglect their daily tasks or give their stickers away in order to stay in the prison. yun-woo does manage to convince them to leave with him once they get close enough.

even so, they worry they may not get to see him in the real world because the premise is people trapped in their sleep and if they have been stuck in sleep for a while (we're talking MONTHS) they could die or end up in critical condition.

s-01-ver bullet

they're either with uno (whoever he's affiliated with) or laska industries. either way they're proficient at their job and well respected.

also either way they have biometric enhancements that kind of didn't get programmed right. they lose control of their body and mind when the equipment "glitches" so they require uno's help to keep it under control.

their code name is "duo" because of the above ^ but also because they can complete the work of two men in one day. only kowalski and uno know their real name (i also don't have a real name for them yet).

prefers to stick to a plan like kowalski, but unlike kowalski is more flexible when plans go sideways. ("you gotta be nonchalant because the second you start chalanting shit go left")

"it's so fucking over" on the inside, "we're so fucking back" on the outside.

divine hunt

guy who's clearly losing in a fistfight but talking shit like they're winning.

very composed, calm, and mature (they have to be since they work for the mayor) but easily annoyed by john doe. they pick fights with him a lot.

some kind of medium that's like?? an ambassador for the town between then mortals and spirits planning divine punishment.

or maybe they share a body with a divine or formerly divine spirit. that would be fun maybe.

always wants to help celeste and oliver however they can. john doe is on his own though fuck that guy (/lh)

little flowers or thunderclouds can be seen around their sprites depending on their mood.

the looping woods

uhhhh they know noah and omen somehow??? this game doesn't have much context behind it so i don't have much for this one sorry.

they survive if noah survives and omen dies but die if noah dies and omen survives. or all three of them die. lol. lmao even. this one has potential for multiple endings but all of rachel's games so far have had multiple endings so we'll see!

they specialize in water-based exorcisms!! learned how from their aunt, who married into the family (most of her family is exorcists).

they moved to japan when they were 18 to help with the spirits issue over there. their immediate family was told they were moving for university since they kept the whole exorcisms thing under wraps.

possibly the only person who can keep reiji's ego in check. they also sometimes feed into his ego on accident. oops.

calmer and more passive in general, but they won't hesitate to face an issue head-on if the situation calls for it.

He made a face but eventually obliged. In the beginning he’d tried messing with her like he did with everyone, but when she refused to bite any bait he offered the guy eventually got bored and left her alone most of the time. If only Dipper could learn to do the same.

Peering around the cashier desk, he looked across the room with wariness before eventually standing and shifting aside. Wendy moved forward and sat down on the chair, pulling out her magazine and some bubble gum to pass the time.

Bill remained standing there, eyes focused on the door leading into the living room of the Shack.

Turning a page, she spoke. ‘She went out.’

‘Huh?’

‘Mabel,’ she clarified, without missing a beat. ‘She headed into town ten minutes ago to meet her pals.’

There was silence for a moment, before he responded. ‘So what? I don’t care.’

A shrug. ‘I didn’t say you did, dude.’

He grunted, but didn’t leave. Jeez. She didn’t want to engage with him but the redhead felt he wasn’t gonna leave until she did. It was hard to relax when there was a sulking nuisance next to you tapping his foot. He reminded her of her brothers when they were throwing a tantrum.

‘Mabel’s mad at you, huh?’ she asked dryly, finally letting her gaze shift towards him.

His head snapped around at that, body tensing. After a moment his face twisted. ‘She’s annoying, is what she is,’ he spat. ‘Don’t be fooled by the stickers and smiles, beneath it lays a brat!’ He threw his arms in the air in exaggeration, looking annoyed.

‘So, you did something, huh?’

‘Of course not!’

Wendy continued to stare at him as she began to blow a bubble. They kept eye contact as the pink, gooey orb grew larger and larger between them.

Eventually, it popped.

And so did he.

‘Okay, fine!’ he spat. ‘I might have called her friends some unpleasant names and called her selfish and stupid, but that’s it! She’s the one who kicked me in the leg and dumped pasta on my head!’ Huh, so that’s what she could see remnants of in his hair. Funny.

The older girl snorted. ‘Dude, I know Mabel isn’t your normal everyday girl but even with her you gotta have more tact than that. Quit being a raging jealous asshole already and give her some space.’

He glared at her. It had no effect.

She leaned closer, jabbing a finger in his direction. ‘You need to stop clinging to her so much. Mabel doesn’t have to hang out with only you, y’know? She has other friends and things going on in her life.’

His face soured, lips pressing tightly into a grimace.

‘I get it, you think she’s gonna stop chilling with you to go hang out with other people instead — I know I would. But, Mabel’s built different and seems to like you for some weird reason so just trust her, alright? If you keep suffocating her she’s gonna get mad for real and then she will end up leaving your ass.’

She raised an eyebrow pointedly as she finished her lecture. Wow, it really did feel like she was scolding one of her kid brothers here. Bill even had the same sulky face as he averted his gaze, looking as if he’d tasted something unpleasant.

Satisfied she’d done her part, the redhead returned to her magazine, trying to read the latest tips of hot flannel fashion. She can’t have read more than a paragraph of the article however when he spoke up.

‘So, what am I supposed to do instead?’

She raised her head, to find him staring at her expectantly. ‘What?’

‘If I’m meant to leave Shooting Star alone, what else is there to do in this stupid hick town?’ A pause and he looked away in consideration. ‘I suppose I could prank Pine Tree, although everyone mad when I took it too far last time. How was I supposed to know bleach was lethal for humans in those doses?’ The smirk he was failing to hide said he did know. Asshole.

‘Do you seriously not know what to do when Mabel’s away? What do you normally do when she’s out of the house?’

A shrug. ‘Wait for her to come back.’

‘That’s sad and cringey. Go find a hobby.’

‘My hobbies are rather vindictive in nature and involve screaming.’

Wendy stared at him for several seconds. 'Seriously, how does she deal with you? I don’t get it.’

Then again, Wendy had seen them interact and it was obvious he acted slightly different around her. More mellowed out. Still annoying though.

In that moment, her phone buzzed off. Yanking it out of her jeans, Wendy found the group chat going off.

NATE: principal ratted me out to parents over my prank and in the shits with them now :/ NATE: cant hang this weekend LEE: bro wtf TAMBRY: classic LEE: god i hate that dude LEE: we should just steal his car at night and wreck it!! TAMBRY: right. that’s totally gonna end well for you...

Wendy rolled her eyes at their antics. As if. Who’d be gutsy enough to actually steal the principal’s car?

Wait a second.

Wendy turned in her seat, cast Bill a glance as she regarded him in a new light. ‘Hey, if you want to give Mabel some space, how bout you come hang out with my group tonight?’

He immediately made a face. ‘I would rather be covered in shit and eaten alive by cockroaches.'

‘You get to steal a car and drive it into a lake.’

The demon paused at that. He regarded her with scrutiny for a moment, trying to figure out if she was messing with him. Then, eventually:

‘For real?’

‘Super real.’

His face stretched into a slow grin. ‘Count me in, Red.’

And that's how Wendy and Bill ended up hanging out for the first time.

Monopoly Go

In the middle of August 2023, I started playing Monopoly Go. At first, I didn't want to because I'm not really the kind of person who follows the trend, but somehow I just feel bored at the time and was trying to understand what was everyone talking about trading stickerss??¿? Most places I went to like Twitter and Instagram, they were promoting themselves to trade stickers and I thought I really didn't want to do that but I am now 😂 I'd say I'm currently playing the game everyday (guilty pleasure) because I just want to be at the top among my friends (competitive mode on lol) I only connected the game with my contacts, although Monopoly keep asking me to connect with my Facebook account and I know the rewards are so tempting like getting more dice, money, and stickers, but I really don't want to because I'm not trying to brag, but my Facebook account has more than 4k friends, which aren't really friends and I don't even know most of them (oh well I did my FB when I was 10 years old, I probably didn't think too much at the time, I was just trying to get more 'friends' than my friends, see competitive mode again 😪) My net worth is currently at 2600++ (net worth is the level of the game) and my friend's highest net worth is 8000++, it is pretty difficult to get there because as you reach 1000+, everything starts getting more and more expensive, the taxes or the amount you have to pay for bailing out of jail if you get in, it's like over 300,0000 yep. Luckily, it's so easy to get rewards, only if you have dice to roll. Right now, I'm trying to have higher net worth than my sister, which is more than 300+ from me, it's still doable. I was the one who invited her to play the game with me, so I feel very competitive when she passed my net worth 🙂

So about the stickers, it's by season, which is about 3 months and we have to collect 189 stickers as it has 21 collections, each collection consists of 9 stickers. Stickers are pretty hard to collect properly as Monopoly Go always give the same stickers, but those duplicate extra stickers, we can get rewards too when we reach certain amounts, like the amount of duplicated stickers we have collected, but it depends on us whether we choose to exchange those stickers for rewards or not at those stages. Luckily, we can tRadE sTicKerS *insert meme ikyk* with anyone. For example, person A has 'sticker r' and person B has 'sticker f', so they can exchange the stickers to each other by sending it to them through Monopoly Go if they're friends, but if they're not they can just give their invite link to the other person and boom they're friends, so that is trading stickers HAHAHA while I've been trying to understand the meaning and now I feel like an expert :') You can also NOT trade stickers simply by just not giving back to them like my sister, she always give me stickers eventhough I don't have any that she wants (I luv her 🥺) When we have collected any of the collections, we will get rewards and when we completed all 21 collections, we get the big prize (billions of money, thousands of dice, and a special token) Token is the thing that moves around the board, it's the same thing as the real Monopoly board; the silver tokens, only these digital tokens can be colourful, which is cool. Everytime we collect 4 tokens each time, we will get rewards as well, see you'll just keep getting rewards.

What I like about this game is the detailed 3D animation of the game, it's so pretty/cute/on point/lit! legit. Everything we touch or click will have animation and sound effects, that's why it's so interesting. It feels so motivating to actually play the game because it never make us look back, only feel great and grateful that we succeeded and keep moving forward. We can also learn the places around the world while playing it, both reality and fantasy. They really make it so fun and each board has their own names like Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Scottie's Mansion, Sofia's Cafe (whoever Scottie and Sofia are idk I just play the game) For each board we have to complete 5 landmarks to get to the next board, always moving to the front. They also include fireworks when we complete the board, so influential 👾 

To get the money is just by rolling the dice, move around the board and you'll get money by people paying you rent, Shut Down, or Bank Heist. Shut Down is when Monopoly Go allows us to attack other people's landmark, either Monopoly Go chooses the person for us, we pick the 'random player' option or just by attacking our friends 😈 At first, I felt bad for attacking my friends because I'd understand their hardwork and efforts, but now I feel a bit greedy (hopefully it doesn't affect in my real life), so I just keep attacking whoever that I feel is not playing because when you get to actually 'shut down', you'll get more rewards and if you don't, it's because they have shields to protect their landmarks, so less rewards. Shields allow you to protect your landmarks and you can get shields when moving around the board. Bank Heist is when you get the chance to rob someone's money. There's the biggesT heist, large and small heist. You have to choose 3 similar objects and if they match, you'll get rewards, no matter which objects you picked. The higher the heist, the better, the richer muahahaha 👌🏼 There's also the Mega Heist, available only when the time comes and it's da best when you actually win it. Monopoly Go also lets us to switch to other multipliers. There are x1, x2, x3, x5, x10, x20, x50, x100, and x200 (I think I've seen x200 if I'm not mistaken). The more multipliers you  choose, the more the rewards will be, but your dice will finish fast. I've tried x100 and I don't really like it, I prefer x50 and below, those are fine for me.

Recently, Monopoly Go did like a contest called Choco Partners where we must have 4 partners to bake 4 cakes to get the top prize, which are 5000 dice, extra money (I forgot the amount because I was eyeing the number of dice 🤑) and a cupcake token. I was lucky to have my friends as my partners and my sister too! hehe For each partner, we had to spin the wheel to collect 5 prizes first before getting the top prize and to get the top prize, we must complete all 4 cakes. It's hard because when you get just 400 points, the meter didn't move that much, but teamwork made it worked! I had fun because my partners and I actually communicated with each other through WhatsApp, supportively motivating together to finish the cakes hahaha aaanddd the best part is I actually got the top pRIZE!! 😭 aaaaa I was so excited, happy and speechless. Great job friends and thanks guys,, Monopoly Go actually made me connected with my school friends, I am touché

(some project notes below)

When I work on these projects, I usually make notes (typically voice recordings) throughout so I can organize my thoughts about the piece. I usually delete the recordings right after I've listened back to them, but since this project was a big learning experience, this time I feel like documenting some of my notes in writing.

This has been one of my favorite projects I've ever worked on! I got to try a lot of new things and work on improving certain techniques, overall I feel like I was successful in executing what I'd intended.

Some stuff that was new for me:

Embroidering on this weight/weave of fabric

Adding shading freehand after handwashing

Using a different handwashing technique to keep the integrity of the stitches

Using a greater variety of floss, as well as marker, pen, and pencil, to try to create a greater range of value for shading

Process:

Selecting the image - this took a lot longer than I thought, since many of my favorite JoJo characters/panels have features in them that wouldn't translate well to embroidery. I wanted to choose something that would look great in black and white too. I chose this one because it had a level of detail that wasn't unmanageable, the shading is primarily done with lines/hatching (so no complicated, small patterns), and I knew anything I'd have to add or omit to make it more effective as an embroidered piece wouldn't fuck with the depth (or recognizability) of the piece. Making the pattern - as usual, I used Procreate to edit the pattern. I took more time than usual to remove shading that I would be adding in after the wash. This included the big blocks of dark shading as well as any lines that were long and fine. Stitching the base design - for this piece I used my usual 1-2 strands of DMC embroidery floss, but for some of the bolder features, I used DMC Pearl Cotton 12 floss. I really liked using this, even though it's still 2 strands of floss, the fact that they are twisted together helped create a nice bold line that held up well in the washing.

Here's an in-progress pic. One area where I used the 12 Pearl Cotton was the outlining for Johnny's hat, which I think looks really nice and bold here!

(Before step 4, I'll clarify that I use a printable stabilizer to transfer patterns to the fabric - it's basically a sticker you can print directly on, stick to your fabric, stitch through, then wash out with water. It's great if you're like me and not good with tracing, drawing freehand, or usually use designs that are too detailed to use something like your average transfer pen for. But if you have an Inkjet printer especially, you will want to use as little ink as possible to reduce the risk of staining...honestly, if you have any questions about this product, feel free to ask me - I have a lot of experience with/thoughts on it lol) Washing - I opted to wash this piece in the hoop. I wanted to maintain the tension of the fabric while washing to hopefully minimize the warping I've experienced when washing in the past. I also didn't agitate the fabric as much or use any kind of soap or detergent to wash away the adhesive. This was really successful - not only did the stitches stay even, I didn't encounter any staining, which I'm really pleased about! Here's what it looked like post-wash, before I started shading:

Shading - this was the most intimidating part of the piece for me...I'm not someone who's very knowledgeable about the technical aspect of visual art, so the idea of placing shading lines without a guide was kind of scary. I followed the shading on my reference image more or less exactly, although I did omit some stuff that I thought would look too heavy.

I used a mix of sewing floss, pencil, marker, and pen to give myself some flexibility when it came to line weight and gradients. There were a couple areas where I knew floss would be too intense, such as the lips and eyes, the underside of Gyro's goggles, and the horse on Johnny's hat. For the horse and goggles, I used the texture of the fabric to my advantage, the rougher texture was definitely conducive to achieving a textured effect similar to the original image. I opted to shade in the underside of Gyro's hat completely black to complement that huge block of black shading on Johnny's neck. I used a regular 0.38 nib pen to add some details to Johnny's eyes and lashes too.

I'm mostly really pleased with the shading, except for the shading along Johnny's nose. tried to go in and fix it, but with a fabric this weight, I was hesitant to pull out stitches and completely redo it because I don't want to leave noticeable holes in the piece. If it keeps bothering me, I might go back and fix it later.

Final thoughts:

This piece really encompassed everything I like about doing this kind of embroidery. In real life, I get asked a lot by family and friends why I choose to embroider things from manga/anime instead of my own original designs. One of the main reasons I do this is because as someone who got into manga for the art, I find it's a really fun and hands-on way to "study" the work of artists I enjoy. Through translating it to embroidery, I have to pay attention to a lot of details about a piece I might not have otherwise. And I almost always pick up on something really interesting and exciting when I do this!

I knew I wanted to embroider something from Steel Ball Run when I reached the part of the manga where Araki's art shifted more to the detailed, dramatic, and cinematic. But having read the colored version, I didn't really appreciate how difficult it can be to achieve this level of detail and drama in black and white, especially without the use of digitally added texture. Through making this piece, and particularly while doing the shading, I really began to respect the amount of skill it takes to do something like this.

Overall, I think this is the most satisfied I've been with something I've embroidered. I'm a huge perfectionist about my embroidery so I'll always have something to nitpick, but even so, I can honestly say I'm really pleased with how well the process I'd planned out translated to the final product. And I'm really pleased with my progress overall.

Silverback Gorilla Making Sure Ozala And Her Mum Behave Gorilla females Ozala and Biddy look like they have some kind of issue with each other and a closer look at Ozala does make you wonder if she might be pregnant? An extra clip today of Ozala and Biddy on the new mixed video Friday. (more info about posting schedules in the community post https://www.youtube.com/@SloggerVlogger/community) Gorilla Ozala seems to have had some issues with her Mother all day. When Ozala comes up to Biddy, the grey lady still feels the tension. She gets up, walks past her daughter and lets her know she's not easily intimidated. Doesn't Biddy look just amazing? Biddy still keeps her eye on Ozala. Ozala moves in the other direction. I know some of you mention it before and ask if Ozala could be pregnant. I didn't think so as the staff told me she's on birth control, but that doesn't mean it's always effective. Looking at her now, I'm wondering myself. It is always difficult to tell, as Gorillas have bigger bellies because they have larger intestines than omnivores or carnivores in order to digest the high volume of fibrous vegetation that they eat everyday. It is probably just wishful thinking and the imagination is running wild on that thought..... Lope, Shufai and a baby brother or sister ....... chaos would be a sure thing lol. It would be nice to have a baby in the family, but they really haven't got the space at the moment and I think Lope would have to be moved quite quickly. So it would be a bittersweet situation, but anyway like I said it's probably just wishful thinking. I think Oumbi was feeling the tension between the two females and he came and sat in the middle of the two. Biddy walked off and some close-up of Ozala enjoying her food. The current gorilla family at Twycross consists of 6 members, which are Oumbi, Ozala, Biddy, Asante, Lope and Shufai Oumbi ( 30 June 1992) Sons : Okanda 17 Apr 2011 born at Twycross Zoo, Hand raised and now at München Hellabrunn Germany. Then they had their daughter Ndoki on the 3rd of May 2007, but she sadly died on the 29th Aug 2007, unknown cause. Matadi is at the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium with his mate Mayani and they had a baby girl called Thandie. If i may ask, how did you make that vhs cover for three cheers?

Hi, I hope you didn't send this ask a million years ago, for some reason I never got a notification for it.

Anyway, I no longer have access to the original Photoshop file, but I tried to (very quickly) remake the front cover just to be sure of the process/layers I used. More under the cut!

I started out with a template (this one, in this case). I'd recommend something more high quality though, this file was pretty small. I made some quick brightness/contrast adjustment to it, but I pretty much used the thing as is.

On a separate PSD file, I created the front cover image. It's very simple in this case, just Gerard's drawing (with some minor color correction) and some text at the top and the bottom.

This file was converted into a smart object and imported into the VHS template file, set to 'Lighten' blending mode. In general, I suggest you always stop and experiment with blending modes, because what works in one case might not work in another. Here's what it looks like when the cover is imported and set to Lighten.

In a new layer, I added scratches and noise using some dust particles brushes I had on hand (mine were part of an art set, but you can easily find some), then on another layer I added the price sticker using these brushes. All the layers except for the VHS template were then grouped together, and a layer mask was created for this group. In the layer mask, I erased parts of the cover using the same dust/noise/scratch brushes I mentioned earlier. Working on a layer mask has virtually the same effect as erasing part of the group/layer, with the added bonus of being reversible so you can always restore the image if you change your mind. They're all around a VERY useful tool. Anyway, after adding all that noise the image will look something like this:

Afterwards, I added an ink bleed effect using a paper texture and the displacement map filter. It's not super noticeable except for a few parts of the image, but I feel like it adds just a little more realism lol

The last thing I did was use the sharpen tool on some small dust particles to make the texture pop (it's best not to over-sharpen things though) and added a color halftone filter to give the impression that the cover was scanned. I don't really like how it looks in this quick recreation but I hope it serves its purpose:

And that's pretty much it! I used the exact same process for the rest of the cover. I kind of assumed some photoshop knowledge here and there for brevity, but if you're not super familiar with it I'll try and be more detailed.

“I’m not sulking,” Paa lies right to Ink’s face.

Ink pouts back at her in a way that’s mostly mimicking Paa’s usual pout, because Ink knows those are effective, and she says, “But you aren’t eating the cake, and you played your sad playlist in the car, and,” punctuated with a tap to Paa’s down-tilted chin, “You aren’t even looking at me.”

Shrugging and sitting further back in the chair – meaning Ink won’t be able to tap her chin – Paa just makes a grumpy little noise.

Chewing the inside of her lip, Ink thinks.

Her main problem is that she doesn’t know why Paa’s sad.

If it were one of the usual things – Pat fighting with their dad, a class that’s too hard, some guy who hasn’t got the memo about Paa not being single – Paa would have told her. Paa always tells her, normally right away! Ink’s always getting despondent little hamster-stickers to her phone in the middle of the day, because Paa’s pouty and sweet and loves complaining loudly and with relish.

That means it’s something unusual that’s upsetting Paa, but that’s where Ink’s detective work is hitting a dead end.

No fights with any of her friends, Ink’s pretty sure, because since Paa got all quiet and preoccupied (six days ago is when Ink noticed, but she’d had an essay and an article to submit the same week just before so she can’t rule out that Paa’s been sad for longer than that, and that’s upsetting too) she’s been texting all her same group chats.

No fights with Pat either – Ink asked.

It doesn’t seem like a non-Pat issue with her family.

But nothing much gets to Paa like this, and Ink’s kind of lost, and she brought Paa out to this café for the specific purpose of cheering her up.

The café isn’t Paa’s very favourite but it’s up there, and it’s pretty expensive so they don’t get out to it often, so it is a special treat that should get Paa smiling.

This is a very serious problem; Ink has to solve it.

Resolved, she carefully positions a bite of her own cake onto her fork and holds it out to Paa across the table, saying, “Okay. If you’re not sulking, try the cake. It’s ‘orange velvet’, I can’t tell what that really means though. Don’t you want to try?”

She watches Paa’s face closely as she presses her lips together and glances away from Ink and she feels more nervous than the situation really warrants, probably, but it feels important.

“Mm. Alright,” Paa eventually says.

Ink doesn’t have a lot of time to be relieved about that victory, because Paa takes the fork from Ink’s hand after saying that.

The whole fork.

She doesn’t lean forwards to take the bite like she always, always does, she just grabs the fork and takes a dainty bite and now Ink realises that there’s a whole type of situation she hasn’t even been considering when trying to figure out what’s upsetting Paa – she’s mad at her.

Or at least upset with her.

It’s got to do with Ink, that much is clear, but they haven’t had a fight – maybe she’s been lonely while Ink’s been busy? But things have cleared up over the past week and Paa normally cheers up pretty fast-

She’s lost.

At least the bite of Ink’s cake seems to have reminded Paa how much she loves the café – she turns to her own plates and starts taking her usual, methodical approach to having multiple cakes. A bite from one, a bite from the other, a cute little frown when she realises she’s taken a bigger bite from one than the other so she’ll balance that out on the next pair of bites…

Okay, she’s still not looking at Ink, but that’s normal for when there’s really good cake involved.

The success is only partial, but Ink will take the win; she starts on her own cake now that Paa’s had the first bite.

Of course, she has to eat with her fingers, Paa not having seen fit to give her back the fork, but that’s fine – the cake isn’t super crumbly or anything, she can work with this.

About halfway through it, she sees the little smile on Paa’s face and thinks, opening.

With a sigh, she allows herself to slump over the cake as she says, “This is such good cake… if only my girlfriend would talk to me, so we could talk about how good the cake is, that would be great,” feeling only, like, a little bit stupid.

It’s worth it, though, Paa giggling in response.

“P’Ink,” she complains, “You don’t want to talk about the cake, though.”

Poking her in the chin again, Ink says, “That’s right. Tell me why you’re sad, huh?”

Paa looks away, but she doesn’t lean back again, instead reaching up to take Ink’s hand and loosely intertwine their fingers.

“It’s stupid,” she says to their hands.

Ink shakes her head immediately.

With a smile and a shy glance at Ink for the first time, Paa says, “No, really, I’m just… I just want to stop thinking about it so I don’t want to talk about it.”

That makes Ink feel bad.

“But we normally talk about-“

“-I’m upset you put your Instagram on private.”

Ink did just put her Instagram on private, and she knows Paa was kind of anxious about that but, “We talked about how most people in my field-“

“-I know, P’Ink, but you only just did it now,” and then she trails off to a mumble as she adds, “Right after writing that article with P’Song.”

That makes even less sense than the Instagram thing, which is at least an issue that they’ve talked about, and Ink squints and leans forward in confusion, pulling their joined hands closer to her and trailing her sleeve in the remaining cake.

Paa reads it on her face, bites her lip, and says, “P’Song’s really fashionable and you said she’s done all that cool, journalism stuff? Because she went back to do her masters degree after working abroad. And that lunch at her place was so fancy and her apartment’s fancy too and she’s so tall.”

Over the course of the explanation Ink goes through a variety of emotions – she moves from confusion to realisation to fond amusement, because Paa’s jealous? Jealous of Ink and Song, when their working styles are so different that some of their classmates were worried they’d kill each other when they were assigned the article together?

But the amusement stops very abruptly at the final line.

“You think she’s tall?”

Paa likes tall girls.

“She’s at least two inches shorter than-“

“P’Ink.”

Beret - Ver. 10-12

Copy + Pasted Description from Sets 1-3

For this line, I changed the background to something more simple with some texture. The format of these presentations still feels unfinished for me, but I just want to focus on showcasing the designs for now.

I made a couple of changes for creating my designs. I digitally lined my designs this time instead of using my traditional pens and pencils. My workflow was also better in Clip Studio when I used the symmetry ruler to line my work. I had to adjust my base model but the overall effect was worth it. The design is cleaner looking, more balanced and of course faster. I like digital work but I don't like to take too much away from my traditional approach so I remain coloring my work with a mix of mediums.

I designed the Beret with a feminine blouse, some form of pleated skirt, thigh high socks, a pair of Mary Janes and a beret (hat). The Beret line is based off of both girl scouts and Japanese schoolgirl uniforms. Very feminine and sweet but made for scouting and survival. They are dedicated to developing skills to survive their surroundings and collecting badges/stickers for their personal guidebook. Their appearance may lend them to not be taken seriously and instead ridiculed, however their skills prove extremely useful and they strategize well in almost any situation.

In this set, the hair is loose and wavy, topped with a color-matching beret (of course) tilting hard to the right.

Overall, I like the designs. There's definitely some weird issues going on between the colors and the designs themselves.

-10 Something about the combination of purple with that orange is kind of hideous lol I'm happier with the hair now - it looks better than what it was (it was originally aqua green and didn't fit well with the rest of the outfit).

-11 Cupcake skirt and St. Patrick's day, I love it but honestly it might be too much green lol

-12 The jacket is overdesigned. The brown and the blue combo actually turned out better than I expected. I would say this is the nicest looking of the 3 in this set.

This is last set for the Beret line :)

Ok, story time 

So recently, I was shopping on the Target website, and I made a PHENOMENAL find… 

This tea party book I had when I was a kid?? 

I absolutely ADORED this book, read it over and over again until the pages came loose from the cover, and my grandma and I had a bunch of tea parties together and we made all kinds of things from the book 🥺 Very good memories… I hadn’t read it in years since I lost my copy, but I never forgot all the good times I had with this book 

So obviously, I wasn’t gonna pass up the opportunity to buy it… I thought it was maybe out of print or something, but no?? It was just?? Available to buy on Target dot com?? 

And then it got here, and I just?? Oh my gosh?? My CHILDHOOD???? 🥺🥺 

We made these!! 

We made them with flower stickers 😊 I remember that tea party being not as much fun as the others cuz there were bees, lol 

And we made these!! 

My grandma’s had the colors of her favorite team 😊 

And we made these!! 

Though we changed the recipe a bit- left out the butter and the pecans, specifically used cinnamon raisin bread iirc, and strawberry cream cheese! They were super good 😋 The flavors complement each other really well 

And we also made this 👀 

We made it with apple cider mix instead cuz I didn’t like tea… so much sugary goodness, lol :p And it was really good! While I still don’t really like tea by itself, I do like it mixed with other drinks (pomegranate lemonade, and of course boba) so maybe I actually would like this if it was made with actual tea… might have to try that sometime 🤔 

It was really fun being able to relive my childhood… I’d love to make some of this stuff again 😊 

But there was one thing that really threw me for a loop… 

The recipe for flute cookies 

Must be some sort of weird Mandela effect going on, because I specifically remember the recipe saying that Lorna Doone shortbread cookies would be the right shape… in fact, I specifically remember it being how I learned about the existence of Lorna Doone cookies in the first place, and I don’t remember even seeing them in person until years after I read the book

Maybe this is a newer edition and that part of the recipe was removed, since those cookies don’t come in flute shapes anymore? But I looked at the back of the book, and nope, this is the original edition 

And what’s even weirder, Lorna Doone cookies have been around since the 20s, and they’ve NEVER come in flute shapes… 

also apparently they’re not actual shortbread cuz they don’t contain butter, and there was some kind of lawsuit about it?? So that was interesting to learn, lol

So where on earth did this elaborate false memory come from?? It had to originate from somewhere… maybe there was a different recipe from an American Girl book or magazine, I really enjoyed those at that age 🤔 It’s just so weird… also why did I never realize until I got this new copy that you’re probably supposed to use this kind of cookie, lol

like it literally never occurred to me XD

So that was a really fun trip down memory lane… with an unexpected mystery twist 👀 Seriously, it’s such a lovely book
