i remember when someone was complaining about their partner being late for shit allll the time and someone was like ‘oh they MUST have adhd and they just can’t help it,’ so i was like ‘hey, yeah, i have adhd, i get this, here are some things other people with adhd can do to help with this problem’
and like five different people just went ‘um time blindness is REAL and you must just not have a severe enough case :/ but there’s no fixing this’
and it’s just........ is this how we beat ableism? by just pretending that we aren’t in control of our actions at all?
that instead of having conversations about maybe offering more leeway and empathy for people’s struggles while ALSO equipping people with better tools to help themselves
we’re just gonna go ‘yeah, actually, neurodivergent people are wholly incapable of personal will and are ruled by their neurodivergence and can’t be expected to help themselves or other people in any way.’
like i get that some things are truly harmless or truly cannot be helped but... some things... can be worked on. maybe not “cured” or “fixed” but like... worked on. and maybe we should make that info more accessible rather than pretending like its ableist to like... offer tips or maybe not let people entirely off the hook for behaviour they can manage

Okay but the way we ALWAYS expect bitterness that isn't there with Desert Duo?
Sure, they snark about each other, but half the time they're giggling while they do it. Sure, they turn on each other, but always with an undertone of understanding. Sure, they avoid- narrowly miss, moreso- each other, but always linger in each others peripheral.
We expected Grian not to ask to team.
We expected Scar not to want to team.
Instead, Grian asked to be partners again. And Scar- he didn't even really say no- ran away only because he HAD to.
We keep expecting some long term fallout, some genuine rejection, some bitterness, but Grian wanted to team, and Scar wanted to say yes, and if it weren't for the eyes on Scar telling him don't, they would have.
Because they aren't angry. They're barely even bitter. Their internal compasses lead back to each other, always. And when they're apart, it's because the game pulls them apart, always.
Why do you think on Hermitcraft- free from the eyes of the cruel death game they sometimes find themselves in- they so unabashedly cling to each other in every moment they can?

I know these are niche Voyager thoughts but... how did the families of the crewmembers who died feel when Voyager got home? Did Frank Darwin's family react with anger and horror when they learned he lived for 3 years into the journey, only to be brutally murdered by a fellow crewmate for no reason? Did Ahni Jetal's family intially come to terms with the fact they'd never see her again, grieve, and move on, then get a flicker of hope when they learn Voyager survived, only to have those hopes dashed again when they see the casualty list? And what about Joe Carey, who lived until after Project Pathfinder was established. Who probably sent his family letters. And then who died right before Voyager came home. Can you imagine the emotional whiplash that must have been?

listening to Ghost again and im.
You have never stood this close, to where you want to be
You have always waded in the shallows
Between me and the deep blue sea
You'd never want me to appear
You'd never want it to be over
You never wanted to reach out to the edge of time
my jaw is on the floor. we're skipping a few lines but-
While you sleep in earthly delight
Still your soul will suffer this plight
Like your father in hell
What you've sold you can not unsell
punching my pillow. gnawing at the bars of my enclosure.

Chip Zdarsky's obsession with Batman being a loser loner and fighting the Bat-Family needs to be studied because the leaks for the upcoming Batman arc are sounding as trash as Gotham War, maybe even worse.
