in what way is it a doomed investment? I've seen a lot of artist lose their jobs to it already, it has had a greater impact than nft's and right now they're going on to make ai video's. I'm sure the bubble will break eventually but, yea share your thoughts.
Here's an article I recommend reading.
We're at the peak of a tech hype cycle. People are absolutely getting hurt and laid off from billions of dollars being poured into the latest money hole that the developers double pinkie prommy will actually work the way they're advertising... at some later date; but I suspect the main staying power for this tech is going to be spam/advertisement generation and disinformation. If you want to provide a quality chat service or make art worth looking at, human intervention is necessary even if you use generative AI as a starting point. While none of this is... good, in the same way NFTs and useless dotcom sites were not good, I am skeptical of a lot of the panic around generative AI replacing humans long term because I think it lends legitimacy to the people claiming it can competently do that.
I also think a lot of the panic around tumblr specifically is kind of redundant. I don't appreciate the site fucking condoning it, but all major social media sites have already been getting fed into these things. There is (currently) no real way to stop these companies from throwing whatever they want off of google into the machine and claiming they totally only use non-copyrighted goods, because they're drawing from billions of images and source texts and there's (currently) no easy way to check besides combing through those massive databases.
Besides, if you publicly post art online, there's already dozens of other websites scraping income off of your work. The social media you use hosts ads, and your art and presence on social media is what draws in new ad viewers and revenue. And there's aggregator sites that draw from and repost stuff from other social media sites, and they host ads. Listacle "news" sites put their top ten favorite web finds on a page covered in ads. Web searches that show your art in a pile of other images host ads. If your art is popular, the number of sites scraping income off of your work grows proportionately. This is my personal opinion, but I'd say AI is a new hat on a commons-exploitation problem that's as almost as old as the internet.

I am having so so so many feelings about Infinite Wealth and I've just been spamming my friend with essays about my overanalyzing brain that obsesses over every single detail in media I am obsessed with,, BUT THIS GAME IS JUST SO FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR IT AAAAA!!!
I just wanna note some longer thoughts down, because I need somewhere to collect some of them,,,,
So yeah, uh, obviously:
LIKE A DRAGON INFINITE WEALTH SPOILERS
(any Yakuza game really, but this is the most recent one, so more likely that people haven't played that yet)
Number 1:
So first of all, Kiryu's parts are, because of the bucket list stuff, very focused on the past. He's trying to tie up loose ends, in his own way and how much he is actually able to do with the Daidoji restrictions.
So I think it was really fitting that he was the one fighting Ebina. In a way it felt like him fighting his past and trying to turn it around.
Now what do I mean by that? Let's start from an earlier point.
Basically, the game is a bit like a mirror to Kiwami in some ways.
Lani is like Haruka, hunted down by several groups of people and they even talk about this similarity being Kiryu's leading factor of motivation in helping her. I mean, there's also different mafias and a whole government conspiracy. But I mean, nothing new in a Yakuza game, but just one more thing added on top of it all.
Where it really starts to show and made me think "Ohhh...wait a second" is when Ebina held his speech about his past. Ebina and Ichiban, even though they didn't grow up together like them, are so similar to Kiryu and Nishiki. One being the Yakuza boss Arakawa's "favourite child", who also idolizes him, and the other one grows to hate him.
And I think this is also the moment where Kiryu realizes "Oh no...history is repeating itself again, isn't it..."
So at the end of the fight, when he actually breaks out in tears and begs for no one to die, it feels like all those deaths he couldn't prevent over all those years, good or bad people, just make him completely break down and he just wants this endless cycle to finally end.
Before the game came out, RGG and actors, in some occasions pointed out how this was a happier game. It makes you feel like looking up instead of being sad.
And while I was playing, I often just felt "Bruh, they lied to us. This game is so sad???", but after I then finished the game, I just sat there and felt such a big relief, the ending just was honestly perfect (well, I mean the cliff hanger was awful jddhd). But then later, it also made me think yeah, this is kind of like a positive version of Kiwami, isn't it? It just feels like it's in a way Kiryu's tying up loose ends with Kiwami's happenings. Fighting his past, finally getting over it in a way.
I thought more about this when I listened to Ebinas boss theme again, because one part has those bells(?) And they sound so much like in For Whose Sake. And then I thought back to the ending more and realized that the whole buildup of it was so much like Kiwami too!
In the finale, first you fight [Villain], who is also the main culprit behind a big government conspiracy. He has helpers with him, and attacks with a gun/guns.
At first you only fight the helpers, then him together with those helpers.
The music is intense and dreadful, everything feels really epic.
Then, after that fight, it goes to the REAL final boss fight. Inside a room, high up on the Millennium Tower, you fight him. Both Nishiki and Ebina are so similar already in their own ways. And the fight is more personal, with emotion behind it. Just that it ends with Nishiki killing himself, but Ebina, while he basically begs for Kiryu to kill him, survives.
The music during the fight has it's ups and downs (intensity-wise) and manages to feel both melancholic and relaxing, as much as they hype you up.
So yeah, it's all such a direct mirror up to the point how it ends. And Kiryu was trying his hardest to prevent things from happening again.
There are often similar themes and plots throughout Yakuza, makes sense, such a long running series, but I think in this particular case it's just so very fitting and it's just SO similar and fits the reflection and fix-it theme of Kiryu's part of the story so well. Especially with how Kiryu's tragic story all started with Yakuza 1 (going by release), still haunting him through every game with constant flashbacks, and now it ends with a story so similar.
Or well, let's hope so, I just want Kiryu to finally rest bruh 😭😭
Number 2:
"Rupture". The name of Hanawa's theme in Gaiden.
Just blatantly taking dictionary definitions here, but there are two ways the word "Rupture" works:
1) (especially of a pipe or container, or bodily part such as an organ or membrane) break or burst suddenly.
"If the main artery ruptures, he could die"
2) breach or disturb (a harmonious feeling or situation).
"Once trust and confidence have been ruptured, it can be difficult to regain"
Keeping that in mind, moving on.
Maybe listen to Hanawa's battle theme for this one, to really visualize it.
Now, whenever I put on the good ol' Gaiden All Boss Battle Themes video, whenever Hanawa's theme came on, I thought wow, this song is really completely different, huh.
But the nature of the song felt quite fitting for a character like Hanawa.
It starts of dark, mysterious, there's a sadness to it. Just like Kiryu now, he has been a man who once "died" and has since then been forced to live in the shadows, his every move being controlled by others. He's like a bird trapped inside a cage.
Then, the song picks up, becomes more intense.
Hanawa's internal struggle and his fight with Kiryu.
When you fight him, the whole scene around it honestly, is like the bird trying to escape this cage. And while nothing that happened was really "real", as in, no fatalaties would've happened because it was all a test, it did feel real for Hanawa and Kiryu. Now looking at the second definition for rupture, it's just like here, on a way more emotional level. And all so sudden. And this is the beginning of him being more and more risky when it comes to the Daidoji, and he keeps on helping Kiryu more than he should, its like his rebellion.
In Infinite Wealth, during the raid on the safe house, it was also all so sudden. It all happened so fast.
The music is picking up. It's nearing the end of the song, and everything becomes so loud and overwhelming - Hanawa suddenly gets shot and dies - then immediately after the wild and short final buildup, silence again. It's a slow, quiet somber tune, like at the beginning of the song, but now fading out... And Hanawa is declared dead.
The sudden rupture lead to immediate casualty, physical this time.
I'm sorry, I DON'T KNOW WHY I MAKE MYSELF SO MUCH SADDER OVER THIS SCENE. But come on, it's just... so perfect, right? 😭😭😭😭
I miss Hanawa so much man. I was really pissed that this is the way they let him go, but just now, after listening to his theme again for the first time since I even started Infinite Wealth, it felt like it just all made sense now. It just clicked. His theme is like a visualisation of his whole story throughout the games.
And it's honestly, sadly perfect. The composers for the Yakuza games are honestly such geniuses. Bringing out some of the best songs ever constantly and making them just feel so fitting for everything.
But yeah. Regardless of if this was meant to be interpreted similiary or not, it just kind of adds to it all for me personally. Especially since you could now maybe see his theme in Gaiden as a bit of secret foreshadowing?
I'd like to see it that way. And maybe, seeing a bit more importance in it all is what helps me to cope with his godawful death scene, RGG what were you thinking man 🥲🥲🥲
Number 3:
Eiji.
Oh boy. Uh, I don't really know yet what the general opinion on this pathetic wet cat (affectionate) is, but I really loved this character. In both a "you're such a damn loser" and "my poor little meow meow :(" way :'D
But most importantly, what I wanna focus on to follow the (over)analyzing theme: Eiji is like a mirror of Masato.
Now, Kiryu has his Kiwami mirror in his finale and Ichiban also has one. But I think this one is way more obvious and also very ironic.
Eiji starts off with trying to earn Ichibans trust and well- it immediately works, of course, it's Ichiban! But the tactic he uses for it, faking being disabled and needing a wheelchair. It was the perfect way to make Ichiban pay attention to him first, because it would remind him of Masato. I think Ichiban immediately just started to get attached to Eiji, and now I'm thinking that Eiji was probably a bit conflicted before he turned his back on him. But his deep rooted hatred was too strong for one nice interaction with a Yakuza, something he demonized, to stop him.
I think it was kind of funny how he was basically like "You're so evil, you Yakuza will NEVER be good people!!! See how good I am while I throw down this child tied to a wheelchair, down those stairs while holding a bomb!!! That'll sure show you evil Yakuza!!!"
Ah. He's so stupid 😭
And yet, whatever happened, Ichiban just constantly called him "Ei-chan", like he's still his bestie and everything is fine. Constantly protesting against it, Eiji probably felt more and more conflicted, because Ichiban is just such a big (and naive) sweetheart. (((Side note: What's not to love about him fr 😭😭)))
So by the finale, and after Eiji had time to say how much he HATED the Yakuza and also, y'know. The whole Bleach Japan thing. Kinda like someone else, hm? Someone else Ichiban constantly insisted on treating like a friend.
But Ichiban convinced him to just turn himself him, turn his life around. Just like he eventually managed to convinced Masato through blood and tears.
And the ending scene is literally an exact mirror to Yakuza 7. Ichiban carrying someone away...
Just in Yakuza 7, it is Masato, dying in his arms, and in Infinite Wealth, it is Eiji, and he's trying his hardest so he will get out of this completely unharmed, throwing himself in front of every danger facing them, getting beat up until he passes out by the end.
You could say this too, is like a good version of another game's ending, with a character mirroring a brother-like person to the main character.
Quite ironic how Eiji started off "imitating" Masato, only to end up like him. Just that one died and one lived.
And just like Kiryu did with Ebina, Ichiban tried his hardest to stop history from repeating itself. Stop more people dying again and again.
The logo having an Infinity symbol seems oddly fitting now, you could say each circle of the symbol is Kiryu and Ichiban, and their stories are intervined in certain ways. Just that their stopped the "infinite" circle from repeating once again.
Or...something like that. I'm trying to sound smart at 5 am, I need sleep I think 😭

I discovered your art with your Zack lived AU comic (and it's 💕💕💕) , and now a little bird told me that you're making (probably???) a Wolfwood lived AU comic???? YOU LITERALLY SAVE LIVES thank you so much for helping me cope and drown myself in denial 👌
Ps: your art is amazing, thank you for sharing it with us ;w;
Oh my god, that means so much?? THANK YOU!!! ;; Denial is the strongest, huh?
I'm still hoping to continue that one at some point. Zack is my favourite boi. I'm slowly adding some little scenes for the next VII project (Missing pieces - consisting of the comics, jokes and stuff that couldn't fit into At First Light), but with the fandom mostly quiet and not as many news (I AM EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW TRAILER, THO!), the hype to work on it atm is very weak. But I am absolutely not giving up. I need Zack and Kunsel reunited, okay.
The little bird was right! I have no idea whether I can continue working on it and manage to the end, because it's a lot of work and my neck/back have been killing me for the past few months (and I'd like to work on my own original project between VII and Trigun too orz). I tried to ease off on my standards (less details, while keeping the storytelling, no colours in most of the pages, to speed the process up), so I can get the pages out faster, thus not sitting at the pc as much and not losing the hype. :)
However, the outline is basically finished and there's bunch of scenes scripted already. :D
Hope you guys will still like it when I manage to post some of the first ones. :)

Hello! I am another new follower person who absolutely binge-read both series of yours and liked them a lot so far! You write very well and it makes me curious as to if you perchance have any other Ateez ot8 x reader fics from mutuals or others that you’d recommend as well?
These kinds of fantasy aus are honestly so fun to read and write, so I can imagine with how well you portrayed them, you must have had some good inspiration for both stories
🌙
hi!!! sorry for the super late response, life just sort of hit, but thank you so much!! i really appreciate it! i absolutely love writing, mainly because it allows me to get my brainrot on paper and then i can reread it to my heart's content. and getting to share it with you is just like an added bonus! :)
and yes, i do! though i'm a bit lacking in getting around to reading them. the ones i would recommend off the top of my head are:
@mint-yooxgi: so i've been super behind in catching up with their works, but the first book of Hotel California was soo good and now as i'm writing this, i see they have new stuff since my hiatus and like, i'm so excited to check it out.
@hoonieversed: i have been meaning to read be the light and i haven't really gotten around to it, like a lot of things, but what i've seen, i'm super hyped! it sounds like such a cool concept!
@berryunho: the answer. super, super cool stuff if you're into cults. honestly such a unique concept and so very well written.
@the7thcrow: not all that glitters is gold. this is one that has been recommended to me a few times, and while i haven't quite gotten around to reading it yet, what little i did see was soo good. like, the writing is absolutely phenomenal. i'm just waiting for some time to binge read it because i know when i start, i'm not going to wanna stop.
also, i would totally recommend @hwaightme as well. i haven't quite gotten a chance to read their works, but the bit i've seen when it pops on my feed looks really good. none of is straight ot8 from what i know, but if you want some individual fluff in one-shot forms, give it a try!
i know there are definitely more, but these are just the first few that popped into my mind. so, if anyone knows anymore tag please! i wanna have some more recs too!

Gratitudes Combo Post! I shall be bulk replying to nice messages that people have sent me here in an attempt to minimize clutter! I hope this works for you all as well!
Tumblr media
@roodllle I'm very very glad the system works for you!!
For those that weren't here at the start, I actually did initially have set polls up to be daily, but after a bit of poking at it, I was able to figure out how to make polls weekly and still keep things moving on at a good pace! It seems people have enjoyed that a lot more so I'm very glad I put the work in to make the switch!!
I found the reblogs important too, just cause I know how fast things can disappear on the dashboard, and how hard it can be to remember what events are going on, especially if stuff if happening on a daily basis! Plus I talk to a lot of people in very different time zones, so my morning is definitely someone else's midnight.
(Many more below the cut!!)
Tumblr media
@pileofrats It is indeed a full time job gjfisjgfi but if I wasn't willing to do such things For Science, then what kind of scientist would I be? :D (It says Science twice on my diploma, not that you need a degree to be a scientist, but just to show that I am dedicated.)
Tumblr media
@vampiredeliverylady I have indeed been thanked, but it's very nice to hear it every time!! Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice message and it's wonderful to hear that this tournament is making a positive impact for you !!!!
Tumblr media
@samuwhal Thank you so much! I'm very glad you're enjoying it and hope you keep having fun!
Tumblr media
Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful day (and I hope all of your interceding days have been wonderful too) as well! I'll admit I maybe wasn't thinking about how much work 1000+ Pokemon would be when I started, but I'm dedicated to seeing this through! (And they've added new ones since I've started!! I'm going to have to go back in and work those in after I'm done here. </3)
Tumblr media
Thank you!!! 💙💙💙
Tumblr media
I am !! Sometimes it gets a little stressful, but at the end of the day, I'm very lucky and very happy to be here!
Tumblr media
Thank you!! I definitely gotta keep it organized, because I absolutely would lose stuff if I didn't ahaha, so it works out for everyone! (And if I am occasionally secretly hoping that sometimes people are finding about this tournament from individual Pokemon tags that they're browsing, well, let's keep that a secret between us ;D)
And needless to say, I am also very lucky to have you all here with me :D !! A tournament is not a tournament without all of you participating and hyping up your favorites!
Tumblr media
Thank you so much!! It really means a lot!! 😊
Tumblr media
@taintedhallows you know it!! :D 💪💪💪
Tumblr media
@commieorcs Thank you!! I hope you're having fun participating! :D
Tumblr media
@indiana-grace Thank you! They're definitely a huge help to me too because I absolutely would vote differently if I couldn't look them in their little eyes before casting my own votes hahaha. My hope is that it also makes it more newbie friendly as well, since I know not everyone voting is familiar with all of them!
Tumblr media
Thank YOU!
Tumblr media
gjiofsjgf I'm glad it's working out then!! I too am often too busy to pay attention to other polls I'll admit. Often times the only thing I do on Tumblr in a day is work on this tournament lol
Ok, I think that's a wrap! I shall now clear these asks out of my inbox, but one more collective thank you to all of you and everyone who has said nice things!! It's very very sweet and kind of you all and has given me a lot of energy and motivation to keep pushing forward with this!
Sorry for taking so long to answer some of these!! I know I wanted to avoid clutter, but I could've made smaller grouped response posts and answered these collectively sooner!

2024 February Media Post Thingy : Featuring Movies Also
I've never really liked doing editing " do-overs". i think if this was like a normal year with no leaping ( As of starting this post a couple of minutes ago ( 4:51 PM ) , i only just learned that this year was a leap year? Just goes to show how little i pay attention..! But yea, on topic, on topic, i don't look back to edit these kind of thought pieces after i write them, it'd feel odd to do so, ,and january's post was a mile and a half to write , so, after finishing the Big Thing for this year, i'm starting the writing on this on the 28th so i dont have to finish it all in one sitting this time. I'm not sure when i'll drop or pick up on it, and its not like, done Live with the month, so the actual timeline of things won't be completely perfectly accurate, but anyways : the things covered here are in rough sequencial order, mostly focused around New Media i've tried this month, with an added blurb about anything ive revisited this year at the very end. I'll try to add a blurb about everything, but no guarentees. Also, i said i'd have more screenshots to share, but i forgot again. A significant number of games here were also on 3ds which i have no good way to get screenshots for. planning is hard This month was heavily characterized by the absolutely wonderful time i had for my birthday and the days surrounding it, because wow, am i in love with my boyfriend! after many, many months spent long distance, i'm extremely glad to say that the first few days of this month were absolutely heavenly, and i do absolutely "get" all the lovey dovey emotional stuff that surrounds it. While he was over, we got to watch a whole bunch of different movies and such, and most of the video game focus was directed towards one big game, being God Of War Ragnarok, which is an absolute behemoth of a triple a game and also one aattached to the very sentimental god of war that i've also shared with him in the past ( they're some of his favorite games of all time, and he's especially knowledge on Norse stuff, so it's cute to listen to him ramble about it whenever actual mythology stuff comes up. Its absolutely adorable the way his voice lights up..! ) So, you'd expect the first piece of media i got through this month would be God of War Ragnarok, after all the time i've spent hyping it up already, while it's still fresh in my mind as of typing, And i'm on a massive, sentimental tangent on it, But...! TRUMP VS ILLUMINATI < Least Romantic Movie I've Personally Made Out With Someone Over >
Tumblr media
theres not all that much to say on this movie as the title'd show, actually, and, obviously, the movie's a complete joke, through and through ( the titular protagonist isn't even the real deal, he's just a clone of the guy who lives on mars for whatever reason as the last human alive (?) ); and it's so ameturishly put together that i'm almost certain the entire scripting process of it was put together by looking at the title of the movie and quipping in a discord call brainstorming for a couple of hours, but it's absolutely great for virgining couples beccause you'll want to watch the movie for a bit, a bit that's been going on for i want to say little over three quarters of a year, but then, when you actually get to watching, it, you'lll both decide unilaterally to make out sloppy style instead of watching the movie, wow!
Tumblr media
by the way, most of the movie is just weird little stock models talking at each other for what i rememeber being 50 or so minutes. i dont tihnk this is a good movie buut i thought itd be funny to bring up because in a shirtless daze after watching it i had the mortifying realization that this shitty movie was gonna be on the top of my media diary if i chose to go through with it . so here it is ! ! ! CATS & DOGS < tulpa movie >
Tumblr media
idk what to blurb about this movie i think its entertainment value comes from the varied" WHAT DOES THIS IMPLYYY " moments in the movie and how like
excessively silly it is im not sure if it was this movie in particular but i have a very specific anecdote of this movie as a child before my parents divorce where i was actually Forced to watch it for some reason with my dad and with an anecdote like that the only thing i can think to say about it is that i think i actually enjoyed it more then Wonka theres some puppetry with the cat villain in this movie thats actually pretty endearing actually. its a decently entertaining spy movie. DOCTOR STRANGE
Tumblr media
not having a title for this one isnt like reverence or anything i still watched this with my boyfriend in our little place and it was very enjoyable, and, in particualr, this was actually the first movie i watched of this list that i actually wanted to seek out to watch, actually! i've never been an mcu guy ( And, if you expect my movie reviews to professionalize, with like, research on the actors anything, you're dead wrong, i think , also. i think when it comes to assosiating characters with their actors or whatever celebrity or director or whatever, i just. .dont do that. i can see why normal people do but i dont have that built into me. so if i refer to a character it'll be for their character. ) i think this is a good movie i think this is a neat movie i think this a very pretty movie and i like mister stranges arch alot and i think it was really well characterized and enjoyable and id watch this movie again sometime maybe. im not a live action head but i think this movie just looks cool and is well presented in general. i think as an asshole mister strange is very watchable which is unusal for me cus i wince whenever characters do a thing thats like regrettable like noooo dont do that like an autistic weirdo but that wasnt really a problem with me for this movie i think its cool how this prick gets grounded by the fantastical shit in the movie and i think his little mini arch over the movie really stands out as a good character piece. thats all i have to say about it as someone who doesnt super hero movie this movie movies really good and stands on its own. i think its cool. i think this is a very enjoyable movie. i think people should watch it if theyre on the fence on it beingg mcu bc i dont think its like thoose other movies at all. im repeating myself. w/e Alot of early febuaary is characterized by movies bc i want to make it clear that the main game i played in that arch of time was God of War, and there were very much Not Media things that were more pressing for my time. lol VIDEO GAMES!!!! VIDEOVERSE < Most Heartwarming Eboy Game >
Tumblr media
the docism i picked for this game sounds demeaning but thhis game is absolutely worth i think everyones time and if theres a game from febuary i'd make as a general reccomendation to my friends, it'd be this one, i think! it's an absolutely heartwarming narrative about an early 2000s era internet community that's being shut down, and its very resonant to at least Me, as a wii u / 3ds era fan
Tumblr media
though it kinda melds that kinda stuff with a more early internet aestetic , which i think the combo works Really Well in terms of like vibe alone. the game is very naked with how it presents an early internet community and id describe it as being like hypnospace outlaw but without you the player being in the seat of like an internet moderator. Like you can moderate in the game a little bit but it's much less of a focus compared to the being in a game community with your friend aspect
Tumblr media
this games a very well executed narrative about this emmet guy ( in the image above this one, he's on the far left of the screen ) and playing it as the first non GOW game of the week was definitely a choice i made that made me kinda sappy and clingy ( since its very much about the internet anxiety of losing a bunch of friends you care about due to dumb internet social media crap, which feels pretty well timed with this whole tumblr drama going on. also, as someone in a long distance relationship, the romance thing in this game also is pretty relatable in parts )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
idk! its a very short game. i played it on deck and it was a very short but sweet pair of game sessions. i think if u like what you see here i reccomend giving it a shot if you're looking for a visual novel . ithink it is cute. if you like cute things this game is for Cute PRINCESS REMEDY IN A WORLD OF HURT < cute em' up where nobody has to die ! >
Tumblr media
i actually falsely appraised this as gameboy color style when its supposed to be dos evokative. i knew i was missing something.
Tumblr media
this is a free top down shmup game from steam about a cute healer girl! the game has really cute writing and is about an hour long. i think the writing makes it worth giving a try if you have an afternoon! the final boss is litearlly a guy with Every Disease that also has a refrence to ff6, so me being charmed by this game was kind of a given. Oops! I think more people should look at this game! it's worth it !
Tumblr media
also, since everyone in the world of hurt has some kind of injury for you to remedy, some of the ones that get picked out are pretty amusing, also. its usually structured around " heres the problem with me " dialogue and " thank goodness im better " dialogue. this game is also for the gays because u can marry whoever you want after the credits. Yay! SUPER MONKEY BALL 3D < worst game icon ive ever seen for a video game award >
Tumblr media
the games just kind of mediocre and the only reason i downloaded it is bc it was on 3ds and i just want to point out the games icon is Just a low resolution picture of ai ais face on a white bg. i think thats funny but the games so easy that thats pretty much the only novelty you'll extract of it if youre a monkey ball fan. oops .
Tumblr media
something like this ive spent longer trying to find this games home menu icon then thinking about the game after playing it sorry i dodnt think this game is worth that just kind of sad
MEGAMAN XTREME
Tumblr media
no reverence for this either pretty much all the games thatre gonna be talked about thatre on 3ds were just me looking through hshop slightly interested in something to do while waiting for my bf to wake up for more gow
Tumblr media
all i can really say is that this game is a gameboy demake of the x games thats just slightly worse and going in with that expectation is correct but also its just Really annoying sometimes is very much a game where the levels are short and easy and the boss fights are kind of choppily designed and difficult and i think finishing this game was kind of more of an act of stubbornness then anything. theres this one boss second to last from sigma thats just killing this boss that spams 4 nearly undodgable spammy fast projectiles while you're on two tiny platforms over death spikes and i think that kind of speaks for how much id reccomend this ( not at all ) i think this is the angriest ive been at a game in a bit actually remembering it . i think i said a funny misnomer about it but i dont remember. something about this contributing to why mega man fucking died or something. im realizing i didnt actually consume alot of good media this month took a break writing this on leap day and umm FIRE EMBLEM WARRIORS ( The 3ds version ) < POPCORN VIDEO GAME >
Tumblr media
as someone whose never played a dynasty warriors type game this was actually a little less boring then i was expecting it ? you'd assume picking the switch or wii u version would be more ideal, but, as someone whose favorite console is the 3ds , and considering it'd take less time to download to my system, i ended up picking this version. it actually runs pretty well and my only real complaint is that the character i wanted to play as is thuroughly stuck into the post game ( Celica from FE echoes ).
Tumblr media
functionally this is kind of just a game that exists to be a stim device while you're in like a voice call or something but at that its pretty good from what ive played. used minerva for most of it and it wasnt too hard but not especially annoying either. its okay. i never got to unlock celica though ( bummed out ) and its not bad at all for somemthing i pretty much only played to pass the time between when my BF was awake to watch me play god of war, which it succeeded at. ive played every FE naturally available on the 3ds. TOM AND JERRY WILL WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Tumblr media
huh what happened howd this happen
Tumblr media
guh MARIO MAKER 3DS
Tumblr media
game i actually owned legitimately that i forgot i did. technically since the games are going down in a month from now this is my way on reminicing on Maker in general , but i mostly just reflected back on itt as a cute wii u memory and that cute packet that comes boxed with the game. the 100 or so challenge levels in this are neat but not Especially special. kind of existed to pad out the games i've tried and finished this year so far to an even 15. its not bad or anything, it did remind me of a few interactions i didnt know about before. maybe sometime before maker 2 goes down ill finish making that super world i started on when the game was new... putting all my thoughts togetherrrrr GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK
Tumblr media
Igod of war ragnarok is pretty cool. for context, im pretty sure the first game of the i wanna say ps4 " duo " of norse GOW games are the two video games that both started me on my ps4 journey recently and got me and my boyfriend together? which i think is very sweet its also very unexpected cus other then being a soft mythology nut i dont see how id get into these kinds of games naturally, considering i'm less genre savvy when it comes to i guess " modern-style " story focused 3d adventures. Considering i'm a nintendo head, these could count as some of the only super duper gamerhead games i've ever played? though i don't know if it means anything when i say that . i think this game definitely needs the groundwork of the first gow to stand up, but, thats not a bad thing, its a very well thought out start to end NARRATIVE, and its a really good one at that. lots of well thought out character interactions and setpieces,a friend of mine described it as a universal ride-style game , and , in terms of linearity, it kind of IS that, but in like the most postive way i can think of in terms of the kinds of games i play , this is probably the drop-dead most prettiest game i've ever looked at from start to finish ( When it comes to detail and realism, i mean. .i think its very pretty to just look at the environments n stuff ) god of war ragnarok is pretty cool. for context, im pretty sure the first game of the i wanna say ps4 " duo " of norse GOW games are the two video games that both started me on my ps4 journey recently and got me and my boyfriend together? which i think is very sweet its also very unexpected cus other then being a soft mythology nut i dont see how id get into these kinds of games naturally, considering i'm less genre savvy when it comes to i guess " modern-style " story focused 3d adventures. Tumblr media
I've heard of games that take up entire segments of people's lives for months , and while i've played lots of " longer " games, gow despite being shorter then something like SMT 4 is definitely one of the first games i've played thats been defined like that to me. i dont wanna say too much on the plot because i think these games are worth playing back to back on their own merits, though for me the experience definitely was raised above by , you know, sharing it with the love of my life, haha. its very cute to listen to someone visibly light up when talking about a game and its definitely my boyfriends infectiousness for the game that motivated me to keep coming back to it and dig for all the little details, even if i play 3d games like this like a game's journalist.... but yea god of war is really good i dont want to spoil anything on it but even if you haavent played the past games but have a ps4 and an appreciation for storytelling, i'd definitely reccomend it. Surprisingly cozy, heartfelt story on parenting and war and lingering regret n junk. also i like mimir alot hes silly and brok theres alot of characters in this i like alot
Tumblr media
if you know you know TERMINATOR 2
Tumblr media
oh yea i watched terminator 2 also very gripping very cool top moms in media for sure i can see why this is a classic movie it abosluely rocks and i was technically present for the voice call where they watched the first movie but i wasnt paying attention to it at all whoops thats technically the last of the new media i did but i also tried out a pokemon X nuzlocke and i replayed king of cards which was really fun and i remembered how much i liked madam meeber
Tumblr media
the nuzlocke was a disaster but i actually did do it so winner
Tumblr media
im sure there was other stuff too but im tired of typing and i forgot CLICKING SEND!!!!!

So according to IGN, P3R won’t have any content from P3P and P3F which in my opinion is an odd choice along with the fact that they claim to also be writing new events, voice lines, ect along IGN basically going “Meh, they’ll make a definite version of the remake with that FES/Portable content” so it leads me to wonder what the point of the remake is if you don’t include everything even if it’s just FES stuff outside of the reason of “We wanted to give the original Persona 3 experience” when both FES and Portable already did even with its added stuff for the former and limitations + a new experience in the form of the Femc for older players with the latter.
All this along with the other removed content (including the optional ones) will just lead to more discussion and arguments from fans all versions and new players wondering what the best version of P3 is the best “objectively” with barely anyone ever saying the original P3 was superior, no matter how many years has passed between the original and remastered versions - these discussions will never die down and relit eventually as seen in the Pokémon community in the 3Ds and Switch remakes due to similar reasons as what is going to happen with P3R.
For those who never had “The original Persona 3 experience”, so outside of the obvious “You couldn’t control your party besides the MC” and “You couldn’t change their equipment in the menu so you had to walk up and talk to them one at a time”, let me list off the content that we may not get in Reload:
No Social links for the male party members (Portable)
No Social link for Aigis (FES + Portable)
No Social link for Ryoji (Portable)
No Rio and Saori (Portable)
No Theodore (Portable)
No The Answer that includes a new party member that explains what happened to Makoto Yuki. (FES)
No Femc (Portable)
No Elizabeth dates (FES + Portable)
No Secret Videos (FES + Portable)
No Koromaru walks (FES + Portable)
No new costumes from FES but knowing Atlus they’ll be paid DLC or something. :/
Naganaki Shrine overhaul (FES)
The Desert of Doors (Portable)
No saving Chidori (FES + Portable)
No saving Shinjiro (Portable)
Those are the ones I can recall on the top of my head so unless the new content includes any of these things…well rip FES and Portable, this isn’t me hating on P3R as the game hasn’t been released yet and I’m still gonna buy the game on day 1 as Persona 3 with all its problems is one of my personal favourite games I’ve ever played for its story alone so it getting a remake, I’m all for it and hyped to play as Yuki again and I’m happy that more people will experience that without the horrors of AI party members.
I am just a little disappointed with the possibility of what may not in the game at all with my fingers crossed for DLC/Update instead of the company being greedy again to make a definitive edition of a remake which while tapping this out sounds ridiculous but that’s Atlus for you, it’s something they would do.

My thoughts on HH and some other stuff, too
Wow, y'all. Just... just Wow.
Okay, first off, I just wanted to say that I am absolutely blown away by the sheer amount and scope of all the attention that I've gotten this past week or so regarding my story BtM. I was truly not expecting that, and for my readership to explode exponentially since the last time I posted, it's amazing to me the number of followers I've gained, the people who've stopped by to say hello, the messages, the comments, the subscriptions and favorites, the everything else, and I just wanted to say thank you.
Reading everyone's reactions and seeing them get so excited and hyped up about something that I truly care about really makes writing worth it.
So, I'm thrilled that everyone's having so much fun. :D I know I am!
Anyway, I've had a couple people reach out to me, requesting my thoughts regarding the first season of Hazbin Hotel, and I thought to myself, 'Oh, why not?'
So, here we are.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed it. The animation was crisp and pretty to look at, the songs were absolute bops, as was the background soundtrack, the overarching narrative was interesting, and the characters, barring a few notable exceptions here and there- *cough* icky moth man who needs squished flat with a metal cleat and the world's first grandiose malignant narcissist- were quite enjoyable.
They were all well written, of course, but, good Lord, some of them were just truly heinous people.
I think, out of that of all of the new characters to which we were introduced in the series that didn't hold speaking roles in the pilot, I think my favorite was a tie between Rosie and Emily. Rosie was exactly who I hoped she'd be, Dolly Levi with a dash of Mary Poppins- she even gave out her business card to that one cannibal lady like Dolly did all the time in 'Hello Dolly'- and Emily was such an adorable little bean. We need more of both those ladies in the future.
The biggest surprise out of the whole show for me, though, was finding out that the hotel actually worked. I genuinely was not expecting that, and I suspect that the exercises that Charlie was making everyone do didn't really do that much, but the situations in which the characters found themselves and how they chose to react to those situations because of their experiences at the hotel were what really clinched it in the end.
I'm very proud of Pen, though. Good for you, man. Goin' out like a champ and getting into Heaven by total accident. Well done.
Mind you, I did have a few gripes here and there, such as the rushed nature of the pacing, but I doubt that I'm alone in that particular camp. The pacing of the overarching narrative was a bit rushed for my taste, and when I'm watching a show, I would prefer not to feel at the end of it like I was in the middle of a caffeine bender.
If I'm going to do that, I'll drink two pots of coffee, follow it up with a latte, and see where it goes from there.
It was almost like deciding to make soup, but not adding any water to the condensed can, so it ended up way too thick and not nearly as smooth as it could've been, had the water been included.
Had they taken the same amount of plot and spread it out over twelve episodes, instead of just eight, it would've been a bit more evenly balanced, and we might have gotten more character moments and interactions to really sell the growing bonds between the main cast, which would've made the other narrative points that much more powerful, such as Pen's noble sacrifice.
However, the number of episodes was probably down to studio constraints and the bigwigs decision to keep the series compressed because money, so I won't hold that against the production team.
That's just business. It happens. No big deal.
So, all in all, it was a fun little romp. Alastor is still my favorite character, because he's just so interesting and multifaceted, and by the end of the season, I had far more questions about him than I did answers.
This is a good thing, though.
I'd be disappointed if he were too easy a character to read.
There's a lot going on there with him, and his morality is too grey and muddled with far too many unknown factors to make a definitive take on him just yet. I still think that my initial understanding of him is on the right track, such as his MO, but I am curious to see where this goes in the official narrative.
So, yes, I will be staying tuned for the next season.
However... just curious here.
Are we really going to have to wait another two years for the next season?!
Because I heard a rumor circulating that that was the case, and I'm kind of hoping that's not accurate.

what did you think of batdr?
So, grain of salt, at time of writing, I have not played or watched BatDR all the way through; I got it liveblogged to me by a friend (which honestly was an ideal experience) and then watched some cutscenes. INITIAL FEELINGS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
When BatDR’s release date was announced, I told friends that I thought it was going to be a pretty tight balancing act – if BatDR was REALLY GOOD, it could kill the enthusiasm for the fandom; yknow, a lot of times when you get what you actually want out of a story, the fervour fades. If BatDR was REALLY BAD, I could become too embarrassed about this franchise and not enjoy playing in it anymore. It has to be the perfect balance of messy and unresolved, but not TOO sloppy or thoughtless, and unfortunately for my ability to stop thinking about it, I think it kinda nailed it. BatDR has some heartfelt and startlingly compelling ideas that it executes sort of incoherently, which makes it FASCINATING.
The joke I keep making is that it’s not a sequel, it’s not a prequel, it’s a fanfiction. And I don’t mean that as a diss – it has a fanfic off-the-rails willingness to commit to a wild, self-indulgent take and just go with it, and I think that’s great. But it’s also sort of… disconnected from the original BatIM, in a way? It doesn’t follow BatIM’s themes at all when you think about it. Conflicts and questions in the original game (the downfall of the Studio, Who Was The True Creator Of Bendy, etc.) are strangely brushed aside in this game, rather than developed or resolved.
Which is why you get weird things like, there’s a REAL ACTUAL NEAR-PERFECT TOON BENDY wandering around, but the original BatIM characters (Joey, Henry, Sammy; people you’d expect to have some kind of big feelings about a true toon Bendy) don’t ever get to interact with him because their feelings on toon Bendy aren’t the point here. BatDR explains what the loop in BatIM was, but that’s not something you discover yourself, because the loop is obsolete now – it’s just explained briefly in order to get to the real focus of this game, Joey Drew having a daughter. Even before you get to timeline questions/possible inconsistencies, the game feels less to me like an actual sequel that builds on the previous game, and more like a neat AU with its own headcanons bouncing off of and interpreting the previous game.
Anyway, some random specific thoughts that come to mind:
They really coulda done something with the family theme if they’d just had Wilson go ahead and say who he was early on. Why did that have to be a surprise? I don’t think saving it really added anything.
Everything about Audrey being Joey’s daughter is AMAZING and I can’t stop thinking about this. Absolutely fascinating development. Have a lot of conflicting feelings on how this was handled but THATS FOR ANOTHER POST; I really do like this, though.
"Something he had always wanted, but could never have: A family." SO JOEY'S LIKE, CANONICALLY GAY IN THE GAMES TOO NOW, RIGHT??? THAT'S PRETTY CLEAR CUT????? LIKE ITS THE MOST OBVIOUS REASON JOEY COULDNT HAVE A FAMILY BEFORE??? HES A GAY SINGLE DAD!!!!
I RLY LIKE THE DESIGNS FOR HENRY AND JOEY. I was surprised to find that the way my brain parsed them was like, they’re the designs for the BatDR AU. Like BatDR is a new fan showing off their designs for their crew, and I’m drawing fanart for their cool AU.
The Ink Demon/ Bendy stuff uh, resolved very strangely. Am very into Bendy and the Ink Demon being the same entity but wish that had been explored a little more!
I actually like Sammy’s cameo(s). I’ve always gotten the feeling that the creators of BatIM were never entirely sure what we all saw in Sammy, so if they didn’t have anything they were particularly hyped to do with him, I think cameos were the right call. The Subject 418 moment is PERFECT. NO NOTES. His 5 seconds before getting shot at the end is like, it’s silly that he died immediately and we all joke about it, but also there’s an element of OH, IM SO GLAD HE GOT TO BE HERE FOR THIS for me, too.
GENT being all OOOOO LOOK AT ALL THEIR SUPER UNETHICAL SCIENCE, LOOK HOW SINISTER THEY ARE is kinda uninteresting to me. Something like, a single audiolog going “huh, that’s weird, when GENT left for their new building, all the ink left, too….” would be way more unsettling than explicit confirmation of GENT taking over and doing lethal human experimentation. And like, idk, I feel one of the things that made BatIM compelling was that it had all these spooky tropes, but motivated by a startlingly mundane desire – people believing in a cartoon so strongly that it accidentally veers into unhinged science and dark occult worship along the way. As soon as they’re just doing normal unethical science with ambiguous motives that seem totally disconnected from the studio, it becomes kinda generic.
Nothing about Wilson is coherent, to the extent that I honestly wonder if the original plan for Wilson was different and he had to be shuffled around for some reason.
What else happened in this game….. Im glad alice got a murder party but I don’t know why she’s here. That One Scene with her and Allison feels very fanservicey but not in a bad way lmao.
Probably other stuff but I think this post is long enough!!

Personal update & Doll Stuff
This week has been a wild ride and not one I'm proud of to be honest. In short: work drained me so hard I was so stressed I can barely remember what happened during work in the days I was there, I had my lunch break cut short on 3 of the 4 days I worked, one day was a 10+ hour day and phew... it was not fun at all. Then there was the issue none of my creative projects I tried my hands on worked in favor for me, everything failed. hard.
But I had a vacation day on friday and had scheduled an appointment for the next tattoo (pic on the top) but the artist came back to me on wednesday and had ditched my own sketch for a copy of a manga panel and it greatly helped for my mental health to spiral down into hell. I know a bunch of people got concerned about me, and that with a reason, I am unharmed, I just... rant a lot to fight the nasty voices.
In the end I was pissed, he was pissed but he had to correct the shit he had done to get close to my sketch again. But he had the audacity to tell me I should bring a sketch next time for him to use .... and that's all what I want to tell about this adventure. I got my tattoo, it went fast, seems to heal good so far, arm doesn't hurt.
Since yesterday my creativity is gladly back and I came up with like 20 solutions for the 10 problems I had. Hah.
Took some photos, continued with Cosplay progress and drew a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I bought a new head, or let's say the dear @izasbjdphoto told me she wanted to get the new Impdoll body but disliked the head and I noticed today, as I made sketches, that the head would fit my plans of making a Level 4 Akuma into a doll aaaaand she gladly let me have it <3 yay. Still need to figure out how to make a Level 3, that might be a sculpture again.
Also I am super hyped for the Bookfair, to see my friends again and hop into Cosplay. @adragonstale agreed to take photos of me (aka I will throw my camera at him and he is allowed to take pics whenever he likes) and I will stay at a friend's place from the wednesday before the fair ... this time without needing to go back to work, full 4 days.
I'm slowly working throught he drawing for my cosplay line up but somehow... even though I didn't have that much to do today the time slipped through my fingers.
I really hope to get to writing a hobby related blog entry again soon, but I took photos of 4 dolls this weekend, sorted stuff into the queue, into photobooks and all that... it's enough.
For next week I have a small project to finish during my lunch breaks (just some buttons and straps to be added) and I have sewing planned for the next weekend. I hope to get to cutting parts during the week that would help but it's okay if I don't get to it, I know we will be understaffed and .. yeah.
Tumblr media
This was my outfit for Carnival last monday btw... progress is stuck somewhere in the queue. It's an Allen the Dog Kigurumi.

Does it make sense that while I’m excited for the sunshine ☀️ court (LMAOOO I LOVE HOW CHEESE THIS IS I REALLY DO) —I don’t want to hear anything (READ anything) about our OG cast from the series? Does that make sense at all?? Like it’s perfect™️ the way Nora wrote everything and ended the story so it’s like I don’t want it touched or don’t feel it’s necessary to ‘check in’ other than maybe some other characters mentioning them at most AM I INSANE DOES ANYONE FEEL ME
Kinda like that random, but pleasant .03 seconds cameo in a beloved film in reference to something that says sO MUCH but there’s no need to explain ARGHHH SKSKSKSKKSKS the #brainrot is real
P.S. a part of me is totally feeling this out of the blue news was because y’all were manifesting it by just hyping up the love for TFC again and 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
no i think that makes a lot of sense. in my mind, aftg (and that story about neil and the foxes) is done. it doesn't need to be added to. BUT i think, as someone who has read the extra content, there is not really a fear that she will hit me with something in tsc that i don't already know? i mean i already know some details of what happens one year, three years, several years post aftg. and while i might not vibe with everything she revealed all these years back, i don't think nora can ruin aftg if she mentions some of that stuff. we don't know how faithful to her old statements she will be tho....maybe she'll turn them on their heads idk. i don't believe she will do that. but. we don’t know. so yeah i don't think you are insane!!! i honestly don't think tsc will have much about the foxes in it. maybe a game or something? cannot imagine she has the time for more than small cameos and references. maaaaybe there will be some more renee. depending on how nora will play this. but. we'll see. i, for one, am both very very excited and scared to find out jsdhsjhjs
also P.S. that's so sweet 🥰 i wish i manifested that and the special edition into being (tho i have been talking about special editions a lot in sep/oct lol). i am definitely not that powerful tho. maybe my instincts picked up on vibes nora was sending out into the world that activated my brainrot like i am a sleeper agent.

You’re in a Blockbuster. It’s summer, you’ve got no responsibilities and your parents threw you some extra cash so you could rent a movie and buy some popcorn. You’re gonna go home, open that plastic shell case (remember the way the cheap ones would crinkle?) and plug the tape into your VCR for 120 minutes of fun. Or, better yet— you’re not in a Blockbuster. You’re at home, digging through your movie shelf for the one tape you want to watch. Your mom recorded it off the TV, so you’ll have to fast-forward through commercial breaks (and little do you know, it’s probably edited) but you love it all the same. It’s not as high a quality as what you could get from the local rental shop, but there’s something magical about it. The four and a half minutes of the end of whatever TV show was on before your movie started. Ads, captured from a specific time period in a specific region— ads you probably won’t ever see again. VHS artifacts— fuzz, lines. The colors are a little off, the images a little hazy. You’ve got popcorn in your lap and a remote in hand so you can always get to the good stuff fast when the commercials do start. You don’t realize it, but that tape, with the hand-written label already starting to wear away, is a time capsule of your youth.
Youth you’ll never get back. Youth you may not even miss, but which so many people will play up as the best time of our lives. Was it really, though? Teenagers are assholes. Times were different. People are hateful now, yeah, but people were hateful back then too. I miss grunge and Y2K fashion and idogs and inflatable furniture and the freedom of being able to go outside as a kid but I wouldn’t exactly want to live in the fucking 90s or early 2000s. I wouldn’t go back, even if I am nostalgic. And I think there’s some very potent horror in that nostalgia.
I’ve been hyping this up for a while and it’s finally time I tackle WNUF Halloween Special, V/H/S 94, and V/H/S 99 all together— splatterfests, sure, but all poignant time capsules of a specific genre of media: the home recording. Not family movies, though a variety of those certainly plays a major role in both of the V/H/S titles I’ve selected. No, instead I mean tapes copied from local TV channels, ads and all. There’s something very unique about the experience of watching a film on TV. I think few of us would actively choose that route these days, when films are available seamlessly at our fingertips (unedited and uninterrupted). Yet, there is something so universally nostalgic about both local TV channels and VHS tapes for a certain generation of us that all three of these movies capture perfectly (albeit some aspects are captured better than others in each of the films).
The first film chronologically for both release and setting is WNUF Halloween Special. A gem of a film set in 1987, it pretends to be a home recording of a local news channel’s Halloween broadcast. Segments about dentists buying back candy, about Christians protesting the holiday, and the grand finale: a longer special about a news reporter and a team of paranormal investigators exploring a supposedly-haunted house. Things go, unsurprisingly, haywire. The plot of the film is paper-thin and predictable, the acting is sublimely cheesy (exactly what you want and expect from smalltown news personalities), and the effects are alright. A little blood here and there, a dead cat— nothing beyond that.
Where the film shines is its dedication to capturing the experience. The sound of the tape being pushed into the VCR, the blue screen— local commercials, and fast-forwarding through ones you’ve already seen or segments you find boring. “Kids, ask your parents permission before calling!” “Playing with drugs... is playing with DEATH.” “All the rock you could want, on the QUARRY!” — It’s truly a masterpiece. I feel like a little kid sitting too close to the TV screen with my bucket of Halloween candy next to me every time I watch this movie. It has its flaws, sure, but there is something so tangibly charming about a window into my childhood now preserved only on old Between The Lions tapes, captured here in a film released in 2013. I remember that broadcast on my TV. I remember my old Halloween costume, and my orange plastic pumpkin. I was that kid, watching in awe and horror was my local TV anchor hosts a call-in seance live. We all have, I think, if you grew up in that wonderful window from the late 80s to the early 2000s. It’s delightful, and WNUF Halloween Special has cemented itself as one of my favorite holiday films of all time.
V/H/S 94 is second, again for both release and setting (and isn’t that perfect?). Overall, this film takes itself the most seriously. While WNUF is not an anthology film, both of the V/H/S entries are. Our frame story here, Holy Hell, follows a SWAT unit on a drug bust that turns into a snuff film ring bust that quickly goes sour. As the film progresses, so to does our little unit— deeper and deeper into the facility, uncovering more and more eyeless bodies and strange TVs, until it’s finally revealed that the two female officers were the leads of the snuff film cult all along. The take a camera to the head of the final SWAT officer; lenses shatter and brain chunks splatter.
Overall, the shorts in this film are delightful, and all in various ways. Storm Drain is most similar to WNUF, as it also parodies a news broadcast. Being a direct broadcast from the mid-90s, the camera quality has improved distinctly— only to drop again for the next short, The Empty Wake. After all, a funeral home certainly wouldn’t have the same quality cameras as a news station. You could (and people certainly have) argued that The Empty Wake is middling at best; a simple and obvious story that excels mostly with its use of effects and occasionally with its building of tension. Yet the use of three fixed cameras calls back to early survival horror in a delightful way. It feels almost Poe-esque, a sort of 90s Gothic I’ve never really seen before. Overly-haunting funeral music, a raging storm and a sea of brown. Brown chairs, brown carpet, ugly light fixtures that constantly threaten to go out. Its delightfully evocative of the sort of empty beige wasteland of many Midwest baptist churches. The only things unique here are the girl and the casket— and whatever monster lurks inside.
The third short, The Subject, is my second favorite. The effects are stunning and CGI is used sparingly, and I’m a sucker for mad scientist/Frankenstein’s Monster stories. Though it makes the least effort to maintain an “authentic” appearance, the creature and set design elevate it. There’s also a delightful emotional core; the girl becomes a monster of the soldiers’ own creation, and it is Jono’s kindness that helps re-ground her. I can only say it’s unfortunate Jono died, considering they each save the other (and he’d only ever been kind to her, trying to protect her from the start and even lying to his commander about seeing her crawling away before they run into each other again in the midst of her killing spree). I’m not sure whether I would’ve preferred that they both died together, or both escaped together, but having only the girl survived feels... odd. Especially considering the world she is escaping into is likely to hold little kindness for her.
Interestingly, the fourth short (and by far my favorite) has a similar sort of “monster of your own creation” through-line, though with a distinctly more serious twist. A white supremacist extremist group is preparing for a domestic terrorist attack, using vampire blood as a bomb. It’s got the grittiest, most low-quality footage of any of the shorts (which, again, makes sense — they’re using cheap, handheld cameras) and feels the most real to me. It’s set near Detroit, but the snowy wilderness is familiar as someone who grew up in the northern midwest. Each day, at a certain time, the militia members shoot the vampire in the head. One such scene opens the film— the vampire pleads for his life. Each subsequent time, the vampire pleads less and less, until he simply kneels in silence and accepts a bullet through the skull. At the end of the film, through a series of drunken mishaps, the vampire is released and all of the militia members are killed. The vampire uses the militia’s fail-safe to open a large window and expose himself to sunlight, killing himself and destroying the compound. It feels less tragic than The Subject, but remains very understandable. When you’ve spent most of your life being demonized, sometimes you do just want to let yourself become the demon.
The third and final film, V/H/S 99, is more consistent aesthetically than V/H/S 94, as it leans almost entirely into handheld, home movie style film-making. It is also mostly focused on teens suffering the consequences of their actions. There was certainly a specific brand of mean-spirited, Jackass-style “prank” content prevalent in this era alongside the blossoming newgrounds community of shock animations and flash games. All that to say, teenagers of this era fucking sucked.
Shredding, the first short, features a group of irreverent douchebag punks who break into an abandoned music club only to mock the deaths of Bitch Cat, the last band who played there before a fire broke out inside the building. Only one of them shows any concern for their actions, but all of them die gruesomely— and in a delightfully gory bit of effects work, their dismembered corpses are reassembled and puppeteered by the zombified ghosts of Bitch Cat to perform one last song.
This is followed by Suicide Bid, pivoting from punks to bitchy sorority girls who decide a great hazing prank would be burying a desperate girl alive for a night. Of course, as shitty as that would be on its own, there also has to be a ghost involved. The ghost of Giltine attacks Lily as the coffin slowly fills with rainwater after a storm starts, and the sorority sisters come back to a mysteriously empty coffin the next day. Lily gets the last laugh by trapping all the other girls in their own coffins, having made a deal with Giltine to offer the sorority girls in exchange for her own soul.
Ozzy’s Dungeon pivots from revenge against shitty teens to revenge against shitty adults— all while parodying Nickelodeon game shows. It’s gross, it’s sleazy, and it’s wonderfully demented in a SAW-esque way. It’s also an interesting look at failed child stardom. Donna was supposed to be the one who got out, the one who made it big, but now her leg is mangled. Her own mother says it looks like dog meat, goes on this revenge crusade that Donna barely takes part in. When she does, her mother takes over for her. Her father makes token protests but ultimately lets the mother take the lead— and the game show host was always more worried about appearances than anything else. At the end of their little vengeance plot, the host helps Donna and her family sneak back onto the set of the show to meet the titular Ozzy and get a wish granted (the promised prize of the show which no one ever won). Donna’s mother prompts her to wish for for a new car, for 15 million dollars— Donna wishes for everyone who used her to die.
The frame story of this film, stop-motion animated segments of a teen’s home movie made with toy soldiers, feeds directly into the fourth short, The Gawkers. We’ve returned again to the world of shitty teens— this time, to popular teen boys. They think they’re hot shit and treat women as objects, trying to sneak panty shots of girls in a park before being chased off, and later spying on Brady and Dylan’s neighbor. It’s hardly the most enjoyable watch, but it is quite gratifying. The teens who treated women as nothing more than sexual objects are themselves turned into literal objects. It turns out the neighbor is a gorgon, and she caught the boys spying on her through her webcam thanks to Brady’s programming skills. She attacks them all and turns them to stone for invading her privacy, betraying her trust and sexualizing her without her consent. This is the short that relies most heavily on CGI (to create the Gorgon) and it does feel extremely weak. The gorgon doesn’t seem to have any weight to her and the snakes on her head do not move naturally in the slightest— budget constraints are understandable, but this is why I much prefer The Subject’s merging of practical and digital to elevate the practical and execute what couldn’t be physically built.
Last, but certainly not least, is To Hell and Back, a short following to videographers recording a Y2K party hosted by a coven of witches as they attempt to summon a demon into the body of a willing host. A lower demon crashes the party, and as the witches banish it back to hell it grabs onto the two cameramen and drags them to hell with it. The only short that has nothing to do with vengeance (or teens), the two men must instead venture through the pits of hell in an attempt to find the demon being summoned and catch a ride back to earth. They succeed, but ruin the coven’s summoning and are killed for it (one of them using his blood to write the name of another lower demon who had helped them escape in the witches’ book before dying). The film closes as the videographers’ camera runs out of battery.
Each of these films captures a very specific era in the lifetime of VHS as a medium, and captures it extremely well. From the image and color distortion of WNUF’s faux home recording to the differences in camera quality to match the shorts’ settings in V/H/S 94 as we transition from newscasts to funeral homes, to amateur documentaries. V/H/S 99 is more consistent than 94, as stated, but this is inherent to all of their shorts being filmed by amateurs— the most polished segment is the beginning of Ozzy’s Dungeon while the actual show is being filmed. It’s an excellent depiction of the astounding jump in technological quality in such a brief time. At least in what was available to professionals. Perhaps the most charming part of this era of VHS is that while technology got smaller and cheaper for consumers, it did not necessarily get better. A cheap, handheld video camera is still a cheap handheld video camera.
In their commitment to this horror time capsule project, WNUF Halloween Special and most of the shorts from the two V/H/S films rely heavily on practical effects. It is, at times, bad-looking. You know it’s a guy in a rubber suit. The leech-like vampire isn’t really chewing a guy’s face off. Giltine is... well, an unarticulated latex mask with equally unarticulated hands. These monsters are fake and you know it, and that is part of the charm. It is a low-budget 90s film you picked up from the bargain bin, a home-burned DVD your friend gifted you of their high-school slasher created during summer vacation. It’s a guy in a mask, and it might be a guy you know, but you’ve got to suspend your disbelief. You’ve come home from Blockbuster with every intention of seeing that guy in a mask and believing he is a monster out to torment assholes, and it’s golden.
I’ve said it before, seen it said by others, and will absolutely say it again: bad practical effects will always be better than bad CGI. I don’t care how cheap it looks— if there’s a real, tangible thing in front of the actors I’ll buy it so much more than PS1 graphics slapped against the background. Something with weight, something the actors can really react to. A good performance can make bad practical effects passable and passable effects amazing. You forget you can see the wire in certain shots until some dude on IMDb points it out in the trivia section. The actors sell it. The film scares you. You’re 14, 15, 16 and you snuck a horror movie out of the rental place your parents would never let you watch normally. You’re tuning into the late-night broadcast of Ghoulies or Reanimator or Killer Klowns from Outer Space. It scares you because it’s not something you’re supposed to see. None of these tapes were something we were ever supposed to see, but here they are.
Here’s death, here’s gore, here’s horror. Here’s a man in a mask. Here’s a cheap video camera and here’s the nostalgic sound of your tape thunking into place in your VCR, whirring to life as a commercial flickers across the screen as that home recording of your favorite movie comes on. The one you were only supposed to see once, that Halloween night, preserved carefully now on your shelf lined with hand-labelled tapes. Maybe it’s not as scary as it used to be, but it’s joyful! It’s a trip down memory lane, an experience not many of us will get back (at least not the way we all individually remember it), but we can still plug in any of these masterfully crafted movies and get a dose of nostalgia whenever we want. They’ll always be there— and you can always be a friend.
Just remember to rewind when you reach the end.

I'm thoroughly in love with jo <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do with this information what you will
Jo’s reaction when he asks you out
Genre:Fluff💖
Jo has had a crush on you for a while. If we’re being honest here he’s had a crush on you since he first saw you at the coffee shop. It started out as a tiny crush. He thought he would forget about it within a day or two. It didn’t help when he found out that you were the new makeup artist. He got closer to you over time, his once tiny crush turned into something much bigger. The close proximity nearly everyday didn’t help him when you did his makeup for videos and performances. You have been the group’s makeup artist for about 6 months now. Jo has gotten to know you because you guys talk every time it’s his turn for makeup. You guys would discuss each other’s interests, likes , dislikes stuff like that. He fell for you even more each time. Jo has finally gotten to the point where he feels ready to ask you out. He was quite nervous but his group members hyped him up ahead of time. It was now his turn for his makeup for their upcoming music video. As you were applying his foundation he starts getting a little shaky and nervous. You thought it was weird but didn’t think much of it since he usually gets nervous in the makeup chair.
“Y/n” nervously says. You were caught off guard because your name came out of his mouth all shaky as if he was a small child in front of an intimidating person. “ Yes” you replied back. “ I know we haven’t known each other for very long, but will you go out with me” Jo says nervously. “ I know it’s wrong because your our makeup artist, but I have had feelings for you from the beginning and I have tried to hide my feelings but I can’t, if you don’t feel the same I understand I just wanted to get it out in the open” Jo rambled on as he had a worried look on his face. “ I actually feel the same and yes I would like to go out with you” you replied. “ Really” Jo said as his face lit up, you had no idea how happy you made him. “Yes” you said. “ We just can’t make it super public at work” you added. “ Yea I understand “ Jo said. “So what are we doing for our date” you asked with a giggle. “ How about a nice dinner and a movie tomorrow at 8”Jo asked as he looked at you waiting for your response. “ I ‘m looking forward to it” you say with a warm smile. “I’ll pick you up” Jo said as blush crept onto his face. “Aw are you blushing Jo” you tease him. “ Maybe a little bit, how else am I supposed to react to someone this beautiful standing right in front of me” Jo responded. This time you were blushing. Jo literally spent hours picking out what he was going to wear for your date.

okay i just ordered some loop engage earplugs and not to be a capitalist or whatever but i’m VERY excited about the prospect of this new product!!!! they’re supposed to help with noise sensitivity in like group settings/public/etc so that i can still hear and engage in conversations but won’t be so overwhelmed by background noise and i’m just. SO excited!!!!
i’m truly almost in tears at the prospect of being able to go to restaurants and family parties without dealing with sensory overload and inevitably becoming the killjoy who has to leave early or keeps stepping outside for air or disappearing to the bathroom. idk, i know that i won’t know how well they actually work until i try them but they have good reviews and just the idea that this company is making equipment to help with something that’s been such a big problem for me for YEARS is so amazing and i can’t wait to try them!!! they say they can help with kid noise too which is just. i’ll believe it when i see it but if i can end my work day and NOT need to go sit in my silent room for hours because i’m just overloaded on sound????? if i can finish a shift and then be able to sit and talk with my mom without feeling like i’m gonna rip my hair out because of sound???????? that would genuinely be life changing. i want to cry happy tears at the prospect. i’m so tired of not being able to be with the people i love because i don’t have the capacity to handle the sounds around us. i’m so tired of saying no to EVERY invite. i want to be able to hang out with people without having to meet very specific environmental conditions. the idea that i might be able to do that even just a little bit is flooring.
also, just look how pretty they are!!! they’re so cute and i’m ordering additional colors of the insert thingies (called mutes) so that i can wear different colors on different days and i’m just. really fucking hyped to maybe not have to constantly say no to socialization because of my disabilities!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yes i DID see them on my feed and at first think they were cockrings but you know what!!! that adds to the charm of it all!!!! look at the pretty colors!!!! i’ll put cock rings in my ears i don’t give a fuck!!!! they’re cute!!!!!
loop’s website specifically talks about accessibility and disability and how they made these in response to a lot of ND and disabled customers saying how they liked their products but wished they had something that more specifically fit their needs - they listened to their customers and made accessibility equipment!!! they started as just a festival/party company and then a lot of disabled ppl were like “hey that helps US” and the company was like “oh shit that’s awesome let’s help you MORE”!!!! how cool is that!!!!
also they’re AFFORDABLE!!!! not dirt cheap but when i first saw the ads i was expecting to open and see it was like. $75-$200, the way fancy shmancy pretty stuff like this normally is, but then it was $30!!!! i can swing $30!!!! so i did!!!! and now i have this new thing to look forward to and i just feel great!!!!
anyways this has been me ranting and raving about a product i haven’t even received yet lol i just!!!! am so excited!!!!! i can’t wait to get them and try them out!!!!!

Having a “SJM is going to give into the rabid Gwynriel hype and do fan service” day. Please help talk me off this cliff.
Oh no!
Ok, cliff rescue to the rescue.
She is not going to write a book for someone who has no continuity and for a bunch of fairweather fans. She knows that Gwynriels only read Gwynriel (if THAT) because lots and lots of them are actively avoiding previous books (because they hint at Elriel obviously) AND won't read anything other than her book (again, if THAT. Because many have admitted to not even having read ACOSF, and getting on the bandwagon via TIkTOk and fan art).
SJM wants to make money. BB want to make money. She is going so far as to crossover 2 of her series. Maybe all 3, for all we know. She ain't spending her time and her effort on a book to cater to actually a very limited audience, (loud, but limited) who haven't promised that they would read everything from the beginning of ACOTAR plus CC.
As with movies and book series, you want people to read/watch and return to your original material--you don't want just a rando side character, that hasn't been in the series for 4 books. Like right now, I see all these ads for the new Jurassic Park movie. And they keep showing stuff from the original (1993!) and the actors are back from the original. Why? Cuz they want continuity, and they want people to go back and watch/re-watch the old stuff as well.
Same with SJM. She wants continuity. She wants the readers to go back, buy/read her books from the beginning, watch her show, which only has the OG characters, and read CC, which will apparently be full of Feysand and the Co. So why in the blasting hell would she write a Gwyn book? Which offers NO continuity at all?
And let's just nip the Chaol argument in the bud--Chaol was the OG character, intimately connected to Aelin and to Dorian and then to everyone else. From book one. He's been in more books than Rowan! Gwyn is NOT Chaol. And Chaol offered important continuity, because you couldn't just read a Chaol book and not go back and read all the previous books. Love him or hate him, Chaol made perfect sense in the TOG universe.
Gwyn...who is Gwyn? A side character friend of a side character? The reality is--there is NO GWYNRIEL. It doesn't exist. Elriel exists. Canonically, that's the ship. Gwynriel is a head canon. So what book is she getting? About what? Also, why not Emerie? She's been in more books than Gwyn. What about Mor? Amren? Lucien? Even Tamlin? (I am not even mentioning Elain)
Nah. Chances are, we won't see Gwyn until the last book. At best, only episodically. There is a reason why Mor is now volunteering to train the priestesses. It's to pull Az away, and send him on his journey with Elain.
Hope this helps!
