Give me a modern AU where Perona is a collage drop out because her best friend/roommate Gekomoria ended up being a criminal handing in illegal trades. Like he was her rich friend buying her everything but they genuinely got on great. But after the apartment being ransacked through the investigation. The interview and court dealings taking so long she failed all her classes. And because since he was arrested she lost her house. She dropped out.

She ends up having to reach out to extended family until one distance uncle agreed and is now staying with Mihawk until she can mentally and financially recover from the biggest fuck over of her life. She’s part time employed at an alt fashion store and rather then pays rent does most of the chores.

Double teaching joys today!

A couple of the boys were watching me cast on for someone and decided that they needed to learn the cast on I used, because it was so fast. (I do the long tail cast on, the version where you hold the yarn in one hand and most of the motion is with the needle). I got the "wait, look what I just did, that's so cool" look TWICE from one of them as he figured it out.

And I had pulled up Ravelry to help one of the students look for something to make. (This kid has TAKEN to knitting, and was looking for a bit more of a challenge, and I goofed and returned the book with the pattern they were interested in to the library). I realised afterwards that I had been less clear than I probably ought to have about the fact that that wasn't a site for 12-year-olds. Given that I had an e-mail address for their mom, I dropped her a line to clarify and apologise. She replied with a huge thank you for teaching her kid to knit. They have taught her now, and the both of them knit together. (This kid really needed something productive and positive to do too, last I heard from the mom she was a bit worried about some of the decisions they were making.) I'm still smiling over this.

actually. the specific phrasing that boy Kevin wants to kill older Kevin with "I must disassemble him, piece by piece, so that everything inside of the Old Kevin comes out. Only then can the New Kevin truly begin." is so incredibly the idea that to heal from trauma and "improve" you have to destroy every "wrong" part of yourself, that everything "tainted" by it has to somehow be replaced by something untouched (which isn't possible)
