lover/fighter - my favorite moments

[Little snippets from my Finnick/OC longfic that are stuck in my head]
From Chapter 50 - Love is a tough business
As they walk along the docks, where the fishermen sell their fresh catch just after they've brought it off the boat, she's so busy questioning her own feelings that she doesn't even notice the familiar face.
"Well, well, prominent visitors. The way you've been seen sneaking around here lately, I'd almost think you didn't like it in the Capitol anymore." Kip sets down the crate he has just carried next to the others on the dock and scrutinizes the duo in front of him with a mixture of curiosity and critical appraisal.
"I, for one, still live here," Finnick replies immediately, with a slightly challenging tone but the usual confident grin on his face.
"Really? I almost didn't notice," Kip replies a little teasingly. The energy between the two of them can only be described as playfully combative and, to be honest, it reminds Rhea a lot of Mirella's children, pubescent boys who always have to stand up to each other, just on principle. "And what about you?" he turns to her, somewhat amused.
Rhea thinks for a moment and laughs a little. "Well, I won't deny that I like it here very much," she replies.
This earns her a deep, hearty laugh from Kip, and he gives her a companionable pat on the shoulder. "Fine, fine, at least you're honest," he grumbles back.
"How's the arm?" she then asks, remembering their first encounter. Thinking about it, she is glad that he seems to have had enough of testing her steadfastness, because this time he makes a friendlier impression right from the start and saves himself the intimidation attempts.
"Unnecessary question, I'm fine. You caught me in a tiny moment of weakness, but that only happens to me once a century, right?" Kip announces firmly.
Rhea smiles a little wryly and replies, "Sure, you're all super tough guys here, my bad." To be honest, she wouldn't have expected any other answer. Even if she still finds the attitude of the people here a little strange at times, she is slowly getting used to it, and admittedly such an attitude is probably necessary in the districts to a certain extent.
Finnick observes the meeting with interest and amusement. "Sometimes I forget that you probably know half the village by now. However, it still makes me sad that I wasn't able to witness your first meeting. I really would have liked to have seen that," he comments with a sassy little grin at Kip.
He puts on his grim face again and grumbles, "I can't believe you're still the same cheeky little brat you used to be. No wait, I liked you better then than I do now. At least you were good at knotting nets, now you're just annoying."
"How mean. Is that any way to talk to paying customers?" Finnick teases him back.
Kip snorts and raises his eyebrows. "You don't have to come up with that until you've actually bought something."
Men. It's almost as if they're all bound by a curse that forces them to retain the mind of a child who is then trapped in an aging body forever and ever. Rhea has to smile at the thought, but it's not untrue, it's a phenomenon she's seen in pretty much every guy she knows. With some it is less pronounced than with others, but even with Linus she has seen it when certain circumstances are met.
"Then offer me something," Finnick laughs playfully before his expression turns to a sinister grin. "But it'll have to be something good to keep Rhea from devouring me instead," he adds, giving her an amused, suggestive glance.
He's doing it again. As meek as his character may be, at least a small part of him seems to enjoy making her suffer like this and Rhea regrets that she has let him get away with it so far. He really is like a child testing his limits to see how far he can go and is bold enough to use her own words against her.
The fact that she can now hear the fishermen from Kip's crew, who were busy unloading the catch during their conversation, laughing around her makes it even worse. What is this fool thinking? The heat is suddenly unbearable, and she finds herself unable to utter a word in her defense.
"O merciful sea," Kip groans with a roll of his eyes. "Get a room."
This bursts the bubble and Rhea forces herself to wipe the pout off her face. "Give me that!" she orders grumpily, holding out her hand and pointing to the bag of groceries Finnick is carrying over his shoulder.
He stops grinning, but a slight smile remains as he looks at her with an innocent expression. "Don't make that face, I'm only joking," he says placatingly.
Rhea scrunches her eyebrows together and punishes him with a sharp look. "Give me that," she growls impatiently.
He raises his arms in resignation and does as she says. With a sigh, he begins, "Come on, I really am sorr - Hey!" His remorse comes too late, because after that all you can hear is the loud splashing and peals of laughter from the fishermen in sight, echoing across the water like thunder.
The feeling of sweet gratification more than makes up for the previous humiliation. She would have thought it would be harder, but apparently, she had the element of surprise on her side. He probably hadn't expected her to actually try something like this, which made it much easier to push him off the wooden walkway. Had he seen it coming, she probably wouldn't have stood a chance, but the feeling of having toppled a giant as a rather weak individual is even more rewarding.
She stops at the edge of the dock and looks down at him with satisfaction as he sticks his head out of the water and brushes his wet hair out of his face. "Seriously?" is all he can get out, bewilderment and a small hint of amusement on his face.
Rhea would love to have captured this image for eternity so that she can remind him of this moment whenever he tries to embarrass her again, because she doesn't imagine that he won't try again at some point. But from now on it is officially a game for two and she gets in with a strong move.
"I think you've been out in the sun for too long. Looked to me like you really needed to cool off," she says with a gleeful grin, slinging the bag over her shoulder that she wisely saved from the water. "Remember to bring the fish for tonight when you're done with it," she adds, and with a farewell wave to Kip, she strolls back across the dock to the quay.
It takes Finnick a few seconds to process everything, then he involuntarily starts chuckling, which quickly turns into uncontrollable laughter. Luckily, he's practically born to swim, otherwise he might end up sinking now, the way he's convulsing with laughter. But he quickly forces himself to catch himself before she disappears out of sight, calling after her, "Whatever you want, sweetheart."
From down there, he can just barely see her pause in response and cast a brief, restrained glance back over her shoulder. There is little sign of her air of self-assurance left and instead the slightly pouty expression is back along with the red color that adorns her cheeks. But he only has a brief moment before she turns around and continues walking.
Suddenly the cooling actually feels good. Finnick shakes his head and lets out a snort of disbelief and amusement. Then he glances up, where Kip is eyeing him, arms crossed and full of unveiled glee. "Can you maybe help me out of here?" he asks him encouragingly.
Kip pretends to think for a moment, shrugs his shoulders and then replies coolly, "I don't think so."
"You've got to be kidding me," Finnick snorts, stunned, but Kip has already turned his attention back to his fish. He is left with no choice but to fight his way back up to the top by himself, which is not so easy with the wet, slippery wooden beams that barely offer any foothold. The alternative would be to swim back to the harbor wall and climb out of the water, but he doesn't want to put on this show for the people unless he really has to.

I just had the misfortune of seeing that 100k post where someone is commanding Twitter migrants to reblog all the fan art they see, on the premise that if an artist has a reblog:like ratio of 1/50 or something then they'll be so discouraged that they'll quit. OP then reblogs their own post to say that there's someone who sometimes reblogs the first post 200 times a day--which like, my reaction to that was "wow that's completely unhinged and not good", but what OP meant was that we should all cater to whatever that person wants to make them happy. I generally don't see the point in yelling at strangers on the internet, but I really had to restrain myself from pointing out that this was the stated motivation on the Staff post about fucking with the chronological feed: that if we all have too much power to curate what we see, then some users will feel unpopular. Which is like, completely normal and acceptable, in reality. There are just so many problems with this attitude:
Nobody owes you attention. Most people don't enjoy random waves of applause just for existing, and most of us have learned to live with this and place importance on things other then validation from strangers.
If your principle reason for making art is NOT the art-making itself, and if you know that you would stop making art if it never got you some form of fame and fortune, then you should literally stop making art. Just stop right now, and find something to do that is more rewarding and less psychologically perilous for you.
If you have ever tried to work in any creative industry at all, then you should know that it can take absolutely forever to get good at something. And it might never happen. And even if it does happen and you turn out to be a genius, still, people might not notice or care--especially if you're really original. There's a reason it's become cliche for people to remind each other of how famous writer X wasn't published until he was 50 or famous painter Y only became important posthumously. If you can't take the heat, see above.
If you're just begging your personal friends to help circulate your work, that's between you and them. But you can't order people who just got to this platform five minutes ago to fill up their accounts with stuff that maybe they like enough to hit the like button, but they don't like it enough to add it to their own page. People are allowed to like your art on a limited basis.
If you're so emotionally dependent on popularity that you think its acceptable to strong-arm strangers into shilling for you, then you should probably take some time to get to know yourself better and figure that out, before you rake yourself over the coals of social media conflict about it. I used to have a mutual (not an artist, just a guy) who had really serious behavioral problems in this department: One day I reblogged a very popular post that had been making the rounds, and suddenly this guy was up my ass with righteous anger about why I didn't reblog it from him personally. I actually took the time to explain that the post itself was doing a lot of traffic, I had no idea that he was one of the thousands of people who had reblogged it, and I can't bother to go combing through his blog every time I see something I like just in case I can reblog it from him individually. Incredibly, he didn't even get what I was saying, he was so invested in the idea that I should conscientiously use my blog to pay tribute to him, and eventually I had to block him for being rude like this all the time, and he was really sad about it. Don't be like that guy.
And finally, the post I'm referring to counted as art things like gif sets and "edits" (a vague concept I think barely counts as creative work but whatever) from TV shows and all kinds of other fan posts. And like, that is just a bridge too far. I shouldn't even have to explain why. And I won't.

You're pretty smart, and you know your politics, so I have a question I want to ask. Leftists claim Biden has enough power to cancel student debt, and I'm wondering if that's actually true? So can he? Or is it a lie?
WELP. This has been one of the biggest talking points ever since Biden took office, and there have been rampant bad-faith misinformation, exaggeration, and general disingenuous attacks that have largely or entirely come from said Online Left. Right-wingers are screaming about how Biden's an illegitimate fraud who stole the election from God King Trump and is a socialist and evil Plotter Against America and so forth, but the left? They think Biden's the devil because "he hasn't cancelled all student loans!!!" Which, you may remember, he a) never actually promised to do outright, and b) this whole "Biden is worse than Trump because he hasn't given ME a pony, and therefore I am morally justified in withholding my vote from the Democrats yet again" is about as immature, sociopathic, and selfish as it's possible to get, especially when the other party has gone full masks-off fascist and is preparing its second coup attempt and end of American democracy in plain sight. So.... yeah.
The actual facts as to whether Biden has the authority to just wipe out the $1.7 trillion of current outstanding federal student debt are, to say the least, complicated. As I have said before, I am not unconcerned about the issue. I voted for Elizabeth Warren in the primaries largely because she made full cancellation a priority, and I have a lot of debt from three degrees (especially my master's degree) which I am, barring a sudden economic windfall, deeply unlikely to ever actually pay off. So yes, I would like to see the development of a policy to both permanently get rid of my loans and make sure that future generations don't have to be saddled with this unjust lifetime economic burden. As with most things, this is Ronald Reagan's fault. Once Reaganomics became the central economic planning strategy, and taxes for wealthy individuals and corporations were drastically slashed as a result, that meant there was no more money left over to either automatically pay for college or have it average $50 a semester. The student loan debt crisis is a predictable result of deliberate and repeated Republican policy: make the rich richer and make the poor poorer by forcing them to take out loans that they are unlikely to pay back, because we need to keep more money for the richest 1%.
Biden is the first president since Reagan to actually and forcefully denounce "trickle-down economics" and state outright what we can all see: that the policy doesn't work. However, since it's been the guiding principle of American and global capitalism for 40+ years, you can't just snap your fingers and reverse all the effects, and that's where the student debt debate gets really stupid. Online Leftists are the kind of people who strongly believe that all the problems in America could just be fixed if Biden and the Democratic Party "tried hard enough," and the fact that they "haven't tried" and/or succeeded in everything is proof that they don't care and that they're evil and etc etc worse than Trump voting is bad I am a very moral and progressive person who performs purest wokeness on the Internet!! So that's the approach that they're taking to the debt crisis. The fact that Biden hasn't snapped his fingers and wiped out the $1.7 trillion existing debt means that he doesn't care and he's evil, end of story.
You might recognize this as a risibly simplistic and nonsensical "analysis" that doesn't take into account any actual facts and mostly serves to stoke outrage and increase anti-voting and anti-Democratic sentiment in leftist online circles. And yet, it's pretty much the dominant philosophy, because fantasy worlds and magical thinking are much easier than comprehensively reasoning through the problem and coming up with a realistic, tenable, and long-term solution. It's substantially unclear whether Biden has the executive authority to just handwave away almost 1/20th of the USA's entire GDP (which was $23 trillion in 2021). That debt is managed by large companies, tied up in other investments, traded on the stock market, and otherwise treated like any other financial commodity, and it's unclear what just evaporating it would do. It's not fair, you say? Welcome to capitalism! Student debt is currently an integral part of the American economy, and with inflation and gas prices staying high and dark whispers of a recession that could hit just before the November midterms, Biden is going to be cautious about taking sweeping and unprecedented actions that might have a knock-on effect and hamper the ability of Democrats to be elected and/or keep the House and Senate, which is already going to be an uphill battle. Which is... not wrong.
This also involves a fundamental misreading of what the executive branch is and is not able to do. As noted, a significant chunk of the Online Left thinks that Biden can just wave a magic wand and fix everything, and/or write an executive order and solve the problem. First, executive orders are NOT magic wands, and second, they're temporary fixes at best, because the American system is purposefully designed NOT to centralize all unaccountable power in the executive branch, because it was founded on the kind-of-important idea that we shouldn't have a king. Obviously, recent Republican presidents have tried to use it in exactly that way, which has led to the grossest abuses of power that we have seen in possibly the entire history of the institution. If Biden did issue an executive order to cancel all student debt, it wouldn't be a magical and instantaneous fix; it would direct the relevant federal departments to come up with and implement a solution. That would still take time and effort to figure out and would involve all the factors previously mentioned, and I can guarantee that 48 hours after he did issue such a hypothetical order, there would be Online Leftists bitching about how it hadn't happened yet and therefore wasn't good enough for them.
Obama's second term and most of Trump's ill-fated single term were run by executive orders, because Obama had a hostile Republican-controlled Congress blocking everything and Trump was just too dumb and impatient to go through the legislative process, because he didn't care about anything except his own power and grift. That was why, in both cases, it was easy to get rid of some of the most egregious policies; you just issue an executive order to reverse the last one. It's also why any executive-order-based solution would be vulnerable to reversal by any Biden successor. If, God forbid, Ron DeSantis or some other aspiring Trump clone won the presidency in 2024, he could just issue an order cancelling the program. But Online Leftists don't get that either and likewise don't have the patience or understanding of the deeply flawed American legislative system, especially now that one of the two major parties has abdicated all interest in responsible government and just exists to pursue white grievance and fascism. Plus, the Democrats have a barely operable Senate majority thanks to Manchin and Sinema essentially functioning as Republicans. If you want a legislative solution that will be more workable, wide-reaching, and harder to undo, yet again, you need to elect more and better Democrats. But since voting is anathema to certain types of Online Leftists, God forbid they do that.
Besides, I don't know if they've heard of a certain branch called the federal judiciary, but it's been making major problems for both Biden's administration and the rest of us. (I'm expecting SCOTUS to drop Dobbs either next Monday or the last Monday in June, so... farewell to legal abortion in much of the country because "SCOTUS isn't important and I'm not voting for Hillary Clinton!") Anything that Biden does via executive action is subject to challenge and review in the courts, and since there have already been plenty of Trump-appointed judges striking down his policies, it’s foolish to think that such a drastic action as student debt cancellation would just slide right on through without being challenged by the latest asshole Republican AG who wants partisan points for stonewalling “Biden’s reckless economic policies!” And as noted, due to the four years Trump and McConnell spent stuffing the benches with partisan hacks, there’s every chance that said challenge would succeed. Then that would somehow also be Biden’s fault for doing it via executive order and not legislation, which the Online Left would suddenly remember as existing after all. There’s really no way it could ever be good enough for them, because their entire brand is built on positioning themselves as smarter and more morally correct and more progressive than The Establishment, even if their rhetoric is largely dangerous nonsense that is needlessly driving young voters away from the Democratic Party at one of the most fragile political moments in recent memory. But y’know, gotta get that Twitter clout.
Besides, all this overlooks that Biden has cancelled student loan debt to a degree unprecedented by any of his predecessors! Aside from the multiple extensions to the COVID-era loan freeze, which mean that no borrower anywhere has paid a single penny in either loans or interest since he took office, he has cancelled billions for low-income, defrauded, or otherwise cheated borrowers who attended defunct for-profit schools such as Corinthian College, who basically took students’ money, saddled them with unworkable debt, and didn’t provide them with an actual degree at the end. You know, the people who actually need debt relief the most, and yet you won’t find any so-called progressive talking about that, because Biden hasn’t personally cancelled THEIR debt or given THEM a pony. For people who claim to care about others, this is, again, profoundly selfish and short-sighted. Plus they behave outright abominably; in January, Biden’s POTUS Twitter account sent out a post solemnly commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day, and there were plenty of gremlins in the replies attacking him for... not cancelling student debt yet. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think a Holocaust remembrance post is the right forum to bully and scream about that.
As I’ve said, I do have problems with how the administration is sticking too closely to the old-school model of “bipartisanship” and “due process,” especially in regard to the prosecutions of the Trump cabal for their endless and brazen criming. We’re having the January 6 hearings now, and it’s still not clear if it’ll lead to full charges, conviction, and imprisonment for Trump. We’re having to push and press and divine tea leaves for any sign that Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice are really doing their job; taking down the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers is all well and good, but everyone knows this is ultimately the Trump crime family’s fault. All of them need to be in jail for the future survival of the oldest democratic republic in the world, and yet Garland still seems to think that it’s too “political” or “partisan” to actually pursue an investigation with the necessary aggressiveness. I am hoping to eat my words, and as I have also said, I recognize that complex and unprecedented investigations into a former president with an extensively corrupt support system take time and effort. But also... nobody has any actual faith that Trump is going to be convicted and imprisoned for the rampant damage that he did and continues to do via proxy, and that speaks to a larger failing to grasp the seriousness of the moment. No matter what’s going on behind closed doors, public communication is important, and I just don’t believe the DOJ gets it.
All of this is to say: I have policy differences with Biden’s administration and think that it needs to be visibly more innovative and aggressive in several areas (aside from the J6 prosecutions, why the hell are you waiting for Dobbs to drop to issue an executive order on abortion rights? Just do it now for God’s sake! People will need time to plan and implement!) But the argument about “why hasn’t Biden cancelled student loans yet!” is fanciful, malicious, has very little relation to how anything actually works, and is pushed by Online Leftists who are doing unnecessary and serious damage to the Democratic Party in one of the most volatile and uncertain moments for American democracy in the history of the country. And for that, frankly, I feel like they don’t deserve to get their own loans cancelled, after behaving so terribly about it and spreading so much harmful outrage, defeatism, and misinformation. Oops.

Hi I am not too familiar with all the details but have some questions. I hope you don’t mind answering them. I thank you in advance for your time!
I think Tony and Peggy are more of the ends-justify-the-means kind. Is that why you are anti them?
I’m firmly Team Cap, I admire his steadfastness in principles though I wonder about Steve’s unquestioning faith in the flawed American ideals. Could that be also why he didn’t suspect Hydra has infiltrated Shield? But is that also why he is even more against Sokovia Accords?
Could you comment on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0XWTA1n-6M&t=27s ?
Hey there dear anon, I'm always happy to answer asks so thank you for yours. I wasn't expecting this to get so long so my most sincere apologies! Also, I get political on this one, just a heads up. More after the cut.
First things first: my main issue with Stark and Peggy is the framing. I like heroes and villains and everything in-between, it's the self-righteousness that I don't like and if the framing positions them as good people who have never done anything wrong in their lives it tends to get on my nerves lol If those two had been portrayed as what they are I wouldn't have minded them all that much.
That video was interesting (thank you for sharing) and I agree on certain points but disagree on others, mostly on the assumption that Steve believes the American myths, that "he's incompatible with a rejection" of those myths and he "can't coexist with an acknowledgement of the fact that America was built by slaves, etc".
And I disagree with it because while we don't have Steve openly talking about it, it's quite clear in his actions and words that those myths wouldn't be something he'd believe in. Steve is portrayed in these movies as a socialist, but not the way the Americans understand that word, he's a European socialist. He may not speak of immigration but he protects Wanda and is completely against her internment in the compound, he speaks of her and Pietro in AoU as kids who "are at war" - and that's a direct reply to Maria's "WE are not at war".
And this scene in AoU (yes it was deleted but still counts):
Tumblr media
He takes off the helmet and fights without it. To me this shows he doesn't like that anyone would ever think of him as a fascist but he understands why someone would look at his suit and the flag it represents and come to the conclusion that he's "one of them". He's aware of the past, he's no fool.
In CW he may not speak directly of it but it is implied in his words that their job as heroes and protectors is not a matter of borders, he treats everyone exactly the same no matter where they're from - as proved in TFA when Erskine asks him if him being German is a problem and Steve immediately says no. Make no mistake, saying that is no minor feat, many people at the time wouldn't have been so sure.
Also, another thing I disagree with is that the video claims Steve is portrayed as the last bastion for truth and justice, etc and we have him and only him when it comes to defending those ideals, but that's not true at all. And I'm not referring to the other heroes, when he gives his speech in TWS his last line is "the price of freedom is high, always has been, but it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one then so be it, but I'm willing to bet I'm not". One of the best things about Steve is that he believes in people, he trusts that there are others just like him who have faith in the same values he does, and in TWS we see just that in Sharon, in that other guy who refuses to launch the ships, there are many people who can and do stand up to Hydra, and Steve knows that.
Then this "Steve represents the old-fashioned" as if that was a bad thing. People in modern times really need to acknowledge that the fights for human rights didn't start with Twitter. This belief that everything in the past was anti civil rights and if it comes from the 50's then it's necessarily conservative is just plain wrong. Whoever watches a movie from those times is very likely to see women having so much more agency than they do now, plots with feminist points and while yes, some of them might be misogynistic and racist, a lot of them are not.
Old-fashioned doesn't equate republican any more than modern doesn't equate progressive. When Steve is talking to Fury in TWS he admits the SSR did certain things that made it hard for him to sleep at night, that they had to "compromise". This line would seemingly agree with the video but the truth is Steve doesn't know even half of what was done in that time after he crashed the plane. Hell, he was surprised to hear about Zola and he didn't even know about Operation Paperclip until Natasha told him. What else didn't he know?
Also, to pretend that freedom and justice are inherent American ideals is hilariously ridiculous which is what the video does. Every time they mention Steve talking about them they seem to think he's parroting some weird fascistic republican views when that couldn't be further from the truth.
Steve is patriotic? Yes, of course. Why do they think he stands up to some people in the government? It's not because he's America-centric or believes that America was built by angels and there was nothing wrong done in how the country presented itself in the past, it's precisely because he knows it that he fights against it.
Those ideals are not specific to America and Steve knows this. He's the son of Irish immigrants who moved to the US in a time where they wouldn't be exactly welcome (we all have seen movies about this, Steve grew up during that time), he was disabled at a time where eugenics were in vogue, and he lived his early life in a specific part of NY where he'd be surrounded by artists and the leftist movement (as left as it can get in America, that is) and he went to Art School. Steve has never been conservative. [There are great metas on this site about this].
I get the feeling though that the video gets a couple things mixed up. I'm in Europe and with the recent rise of the far-right here the fascists have been parroting the same idea over and over again: that they're all about patriotism. And so they act like the flag, the anthem, the army... in short, anything that symbolizes their country is inherently their property. This of course is bullshit.
And so I think that seeing Steve wearing those colours makes the author of the video believe that he's in full support of the American way but that's not it. I can grab the EU flag and hang it in my room and that does not mean I'm fine with all the shit we have done in the past, it doesn't mean I don't acknowledge it or the mistakes we're making now. Look, I'm in Spain, I know what we did centuries ago. But the very act of loving one's flag is not justifying your past, it's acknowledging it and knowing you can do better, that you can be held accountable. The flag is not property of a few, it's property of the whole. And Steve wears it because he wants to do better. Also, the video should have made a distinction between Steve and Cap.
Regarding your questions, he did show he suspected Shield back in The Avengers when he discovered the Hydra gadgets and confronted Fury about it in the helicarrier. And yeah, he's completely against the Accords because they're a direct violation of civil rights. Notice how in the chat with Fury he's thinking of society as a whole, not just the US. It's not a matter of idealism either, Steve is not someone who thinks people should love each other and fly on unicorns, he's seen the worst of humanity, he's seen first-hand what people with power do, some of it good and some of it bad. That scene with Fury shows pretty well how both of them were raised in different times.
And last but not least, Civil War! The points the video makes are not exactly to my liking.
First they say Steve kept Stark in the dark about his parents' deaths: Steve didn't know it had been Bucky, he had no way of knowing it had been Bucky, he could assume it might have been him but he didn't know.
Then they claim what Steve does in the film is protect Bucky and frankly that point has been made ad nauseum and it's not true, Steve's stance against the Accords has nothing to do with Buck, he's against them in principle.
They also say Stark wanted to sign the Accords so they'll do "less missions" and "cause less carnage"? He wanted to sign because he felt guilty and didn't want any sort of accountability at all for whatever he did, that's all. The UN wasn't going with "let's sign these Accords so there will be less violence and more accountability" The accountability angle was propaganda, nothing more.
I do agree with one thing though, CW is not ideological and that's the writers' fault and Disney's. They didn't want to tackle that because the only way you can talk about it is by having the characters literally discussing civil rights for everyone. Imo if there's someone who portrays those 'conservative' American ideals it's Stark, not Steve.
But the thing I dislike the most is when they say "Steve's position is in the right and the America state in the wrong, an elected government legitimately elected by the people, and Steve stands against it". Yes, and? I don't need to remind anyone that Hitler was legitimately elected, do I? And we need to be careful when it comes to a character standing up to a particular action the government has taken and trying to paint that as the character standing up to the entire government - those two are not the same thing.
It's not that everyone in the US congress is a villain, it's that some are. It's not that the system is inherently wrong, it's that some people in it are doing it wrong and need to be held accountable. To claim that since people had voted for them they should be allowed to do whatever they want is... concerning.
So I'm sorry but no, I disagree with Steve being a paragon of America's exceptionalism. The movies are America-centred, that's for sure, but to claim Steve falls prey to that and he's some form of defender of those ideals, that he protects the belief that America never did anything wrong in history and that they're better than everyone else is a wrong assumption - believe me, if that was the case people like me wouldn't like him! Let me finish this with words from the man himself:
“I believe in the American dream. But THIS…this is some sort of NIGHTMARE!”
“You people telling me how I just don’t understand? When it’s you people—you clever people—who don’t get it. I don’t let people die because it’s the lesser of two evils, or expedient, or because it serves the greater good… I don’t compare the act against something else—I see someone who needs help… And I help. You think it’s a weakness. You think it’s simple… But you’re wrong. It’s what makes us human… Which is exactly what we’re supposed to be fighting for. I know who I am. I rescue the helpless. I raise up the hopeless. I don’t measure people’s lives… I save them.”
“Patriotism taken too far is fanaticism. No matter who you are or where you’re from. Foreigners aren’t your enemy, son. I’m the son of immigrants. When I was a kid it was my father’s people, the Irish, who were looked down on. Called filthy foreigners. Discriminated against. Is that the xenophobic America you want? All religions, all nationalities, we all want the same thing. To see our children grow strong. To provide safety to our families. To live in quiet times. Peace, son. Isn’t that why we became soldiers in the first place? To fight for a peaceful world?”
“There’s nothing patriotic about corruption or cover-ups…or defending them. But exposing them, well, that takes a hero.”
Sorry this got so long 🙊

"A borrower in January who took out a $500,000 mortgage at a 3.2% rate would be on the hook for a $2,162 monthly principal and interest payment over the course of the 30-year loan. At a 6.8% rate, that monthly payment would be $3,260."
Can I have a two-second pity party for myself? I've been saving for a couple years to buy my first place and I just keep getting screwed and I'm starting to feel like I'm never going to be able to buy anything. First home prices went up 50% practically overnight. Then rent followed which cuts into my savings rate. Now inflation means the money I've saved is worth 20% less in general and my ability to continue saving is cut again. And when I do finally get around to taking out the mortgage, I'm going to pay twice as much in interest. Even if my down payment savings could have kept up with the price increase, I can't afford the monthly payments anymore with increases in principle and interest. And I am good with money. I make a decent income and I am super intentional with my budget and savings. Much more so than the average American. If I can't figure out how to make this work, how is anyone supposed to?
The part that really kills me about it all is that none of this is happening naturally. This is all due to shitty economic management by government. With the interest rate hikes, they straight up admit they are fucking it up on purpose and I have a hard time believing the rest wasn't deliberate too. None of this would have happened if they had done literally nothing. It didn't need to happen.

currently LOCKED OUT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX because I don't have a gate remote, because mine got STOLEN when my car got broken into of spring last year!!! And the complex was like "you can pay $50 for another one", which I refuse to do on principle, because the break-in occurred within this gated complex!!!!
So I usually use the call box to call my own phone to let myself in, but now it's not working!!! 😫😤🤬 And it's 2am on a Tuesday night, so no one else is driving by who I can follow in!!
I'm not sure what to do at this point...there are pedestrian gates but I have no idea what the code for them is. The leasing office, which I am currently parked in front of, doesn't open till 9, so there's nobody there I can bother right now.
I can't think of a way to address this that doesn't involve talking to strangers...honk my horn until a resident wakes up and opens the gate? Call the fucking cops??? (I do not want to do that)
So I guess for now the plan is to hang out in front of the gate until someone comes by who can open it? Two cars have come by and then turned around, presumably because they also cannot get past the gate.

re: the watcher anger
i know $6 a month isn't a lot in the united states, but they have a pretty international audicence and with currency exchange, $6 is a lot. like in hong kong that's $50 a month, mexico its 102 pesos a month, in the phillipines that's 345 pesos a month, in argentina that's 5,221 argentine pesos--you get the idea. hell, i live in the us and i can't even afford to spend an extra $6 a month 😭
i agree on paying creators fairly, and i know watcher has 25 employees who deserve to paid. but the channel already pulls in over $100k a month from patreon alone; they also make bank from all their sponsors and merch sales. i mean, one of their main series is steven lim eating expensive food like gold flaked beef. i mean, he has a new tesla!
idk it just feels like that ceo thing where they aren't happy with consistent success, it needs to be increasing success. but ofc idk them, i'm just an outside observer so idk the full story, etc.
first up -- i actually think $6 a month IS a lot for some people in the US & have talked in private w friends about how i wish they'd started at like, $1-$3/mo or smth because even that would make it more affordable for a lot of their fans :-) just to clear that up! $6 is a lot when most streaming services that offer way more than 2x as much content cost like 2x as much on average (i think? the only streaming service i have is for baseball, i pirate everything else so idk). $6 a month is also a lot, Period, for many people, regardless of context. it's the principle of paying for it at all that was my main point in that post
to everything else -- great points and i appreciate the info and your perspective. re: money i know $100k/mo sounds like a lot + they have the other revenue sources you mentioned but i think it's important to keep in mind that they're not just paying for their own/their employees' lives but also funding the shit they make -- travel, gear, production costs, everything they need to buy for the videos etc. like it's not JUST 28 paychecks that the money is going towards but also the necessary costs of the job itself. not to mention that at least shane steven and ryan live in a super HCOL area ($100k/yr for a single person is literally considered "low income" in san francisco lmao & i dont even wanna know what it is in los angeles). they could still be making bank, idk! i have literally no idea what their finances look like, i'm spitballing the same as everyone else. but i think shit costs more than a lot of people realize
i have zero argument with the frustrations with how expensive this will be for their non-usamerican audiences, i'm really sorry that they didn't roll out different prices for different locations or like ... seem to take that into consideration at all. like i said in the original post, i have no beef with anyone who is personally upset about getting priced out of content they love. honestly my only point here is that i do not doubt at all that everything they release on watcher will be uploaded to piracy sites by people w accounts & that everyone anywhere who is capable of piracy (ik some countries are harsh about it but # of countries where it faces strict repercussions < # of countries where watcher's pricing is prohibitively expensive afaik) will be able to access it, and i bring that up more in hopes that it's encouraging for people worried about getting to still watch their content than bc i'm trying to argue anything
ultimately i still think this was not an outrageous thing for them to do & i empathize with people who are pissed and sad with the Way this is going down but i still at the end of the day think we gotta adjust to artists wanting & requesting to be paid regularly and directly for their work cuz that is the world we live in rn. it sucks but i can't get mad at them for it

i do think people are overreacting with the '3 years of updates' thing because that is not what was said, it was one line in an interview where someone said "i hope that fans will continue to play for the next 2-3 years and find new things in the game" which is completely feasible for someone who is not time travelling and not playing multiple hours every day. not that those are bad things of course, i do both of those things! but there is already a lot of content in animal crossing, it was all given for free except for a dlc that was originally a different game, and honestly as someone who has played 600 hours, a lot of mileage to get out of a game and more time than i've been able to put into any other games, i can say with confidence that i feel animal crossing was a complete game on release, and while the updates have added a lot of great content, i was enjoying myself just fine with the base game.
with something like pokemon, another which is clearly putting devs under pressure and releasing games like sword and shield which i finished in 30 hours including post game, even after spending plenty of time in the wild areas and not like. rushing through it. when previous pokemon games have typically taken me about 50-60 hours and felt very easy to spend more time in afterwards. i feel like the complaints are easy to make especially after 2 paid dlcs were added. but idk animal crossing definitely didnt feel like that to me personally.
Tumblr media
you're completely misunderstanding what my problem with animal crossing was. i want the EXACT OPPOSITE of continuing major updates. i think updating it for 2-3 years after it launches is a bad thing. i think if you pay $60 for a product you should get the product fully realized as intended. the only reason that's not what we're getting is because big companies have realized they can use the goodwill of a dedicated consumer base to construct predatory development models that churn out games before they're finished and patch in the content, and fans will act like they're being done a favor.
as someone who literally never time traveled at all and played the game 100% as intended, i did not feel like it was a complete game at all personally. the furniture selection was so limited that decorating was barely any fun and there wasn't much else to do but that. like, it's great that you were enjoying yourself with the base game but that doesn't change the fact that I definitely wasn't. the fact that there has been this much free DLC, dlc which i might add contains stuff that (i believe based on what ive heard, i haven't played them) other games had at launch, i think proves the point that nintendo believes they were obligated to deliver beyond the initial experience in order to match the price point. multibillion dollar corporations do not give things away for free for no reason.
i'm not even opposed to the concept of paid dlc on principle if it really adds some; for example i bought botw and had a dope time with the base game which really felt like a complete and worthwhile game, but i also bought the dlc because i think it genuinely added worthwhile stuff and fun new ways to play that were not necessary for the base game to be good.
I can't compare it to the pokemon games because i also haven't played any pokemon games either, but I don't think saying "this game is fine because other games are worse" is a great argument. general consensus around people who love the older gen pokemon games is that these new ones suck ass so I think it's an unfairly low bar to use as comparison. nintendo is once again one fo the largest video game companies on the planet and a multibillion dollar entity. i don't feel bad holding them to high standards for their games.

WHY MEN LOVE BITCHES by Sherry Argov
CHAPTER 5: JUMPING THROUGH Hoops LIKE A CIRCUS POODLE (When Women Give Themselves Away and Become Needy)
Tumblr media
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #43
If you allow your rhythm to be interrupted, you’ll create a void. Then, to replace what you give up, you’ll start to expect and need more from your partner.
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #44
Most women are starving to receive something from a man that they needto give to themselves.
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #45
A woman looks more secure in a man’s eyes when he can’t pull her away from her life, because she is content with her life.
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #46
The second a woman works overtime to make herself fit his criteria, she has lowered the standard of that relationship.
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #47
You jump through hoops any time you repeatedly make it very obvious you’re giving your “all.”
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #48
You have to keep from being sucked down into quicksand. Unless you maintain control over yourself, the relationship is doomed.
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #49
Jumping through hoops often has a negative outcome: He sees it as an opportunity to have his cake and eat it, too. But when you stay just outside his reach, he’ll stay on his best behavior
ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #50
The nice girl gives away too much of herself when pleasing him regularly becomes more important than pleasing herself.
Tumblr media
SUMMARY
The 5th Chapter in Why Men Love Bitches' Jumping Through Hoops Like a Circus Poodle by Sherry Argov discusses about how a nice girl becomes needy as well as the differences between a nice girl and a bitch; she also included how a bitch becomes the boss herself. Argov elaborated the topics by giving accurate examples and situations to every principle she tackled about.
When A Nice Girl Becomes Needy
The chapter largely focused when a woman gives herself away becomes needy. She emphasizes when a woman (nice girl) becomes being wanted un the relrionship, it could be a problem to the man. It started when a woman gives her "all." It means when she surrenders herself from the stuffs she likes and she normally do just to give some time for her man. She cancels her appointment just allocate time for date or she ends her career just support his. A nice girl thinks that pleasing him will sustain her the fanstasies and expectation she build. And in the end, when he fails to set those expectations into reality, she demands more of him. Most females are starving to receive from a man that they need to give themselves. When gives up everything and expect for a return.
"The Nice Girl" VS. "The Bitch"
• The nice girl dismisses what she used to value and what used to be important in her life. - (Nice girl)
• The bitch values her priorities, her values, and her preferences. Always. - (Bitch)
• The nice girl searches for a sign from him to see when the closeness is “too much." - (Nice girl)
• The bitch acts as her own guide. She doesn’t allow him an opportunity to be bored. - (Bitch)
• The nice girl senses how happy he is, paying close attention to his approval of her. - (Nice girl)
• The bitch doesn’t obsess over his opinion or need his approval. - (Bitch)
• When he’s “into it” with the nice girl, she feels good; when he snubs her, she feels bad. - (Nice girl)
• The bitch has more confidence, so someone else’s mood doesn’t have much impact. Instead she plays tennis. - (Bitch)
• The nice girl treats her interests as “little things” or secondary. - (Nice girl)
• The bitch doesn’t treat her interests as minor little things. They are her things. - (Bitch)
• The nice girl gives too much first, and then negotiates reciprocity later. - (Nice girl)
• The bitch gives only when it is reciprocal. - (Bitch)
• He is the boss … of her. - (Nice girl)
• She stays the boss … of herself. - (Bitch)
The Bitch Rules Her Life
She also states that when a bitch enters a relationship, she does not stop doing her things just to please her man unlike a nice girl does. A bitch runs her life without interrupting her routines like seeing her friends, goes to gym and gives a me-time. She prioritizes herself more than anything else. She does not abandon her usual routines and that's what makes the bitch remains the boss of herself.
Sherry Argov's gave us, women, the idea more of how to handle ourselves. This last principle in the Chapter 5 strucked me the most, "ATTRACTION PRINCIPLE #51: A woman looks more secure in a man's eyes when can't pull her away from her life, because she is content with her life." Restrain from being a needy nice girl, be the boss bitch yourself.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE FOUND IN THE BOOK
Why Men Love Bitches presents some characteristics of the contemporary literature. The most visible is that it was published in 2002 (written after the World War II). It has a theme which is based in reality of the women. The literature has well-defined reality-based stories of the characters which it tackled some social matters and personal issues. The topic is very realistic and it clearly reflects to the author's perspective and the lesson she wanted to convey to the readers. It properly laid present issues which is generally relatable in today's society.
APPEAL OF THE STORY
There is much the literary piece of Sherry Argov appeals to its audiences. First, the title of the literature itself is uncommonly intriguing. It activates the curiosity of the reader's mind not to mention that the whole topic pulls attractions on its own. Why Men Love Bitches gathered such recognition especially to the female audiences who wants to know how men think of women. The idea of on how men prefer bitches than a nice girl eyed the literary work to the public.
One vital reason why the book is appealing is that each chapters have an engaging title with corresponding significant matters to point out. To mention the chapter I have chosen to read and the entire book, its content is very entertaining and humorous that I did not think much of time reading it. The topic is generally practical and very relatable at the same time. The relevance of this work is that it sets as a guide to every women out there. Not just on how it gives idea the way men treat and perceive us but also on how should women see and motivate her own self to stayed dignified in life.

Scoob!Dick Dastardly headcanons
Because I loved movie!Dick so much (some of these headcanons were created with my friend Xtaabay)
He totally remembers his date of birth but is in denial about his age, probably early or mid 50's. He hates being so old he never gives his age or date of birth, uses black wax for his hair, eyebrows and moustache to hide his greying hairs, tries to be hip but fails terribly (thinks Simon Cowell and Gérard Depardieu are still relevant, calls Gen Z teens millenials...), etc all while still being a boomer in contrast with old principles
He's the movie version of Dick the 2nd (Wacky Races). He inherited the flying machine and the taxidermized pigeon from his father the movie version of Dick the 1st (Dick Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines), and his son the movie version of Dick the 3rd (the 2017 reboot) is barely older than the Scooby gang and still is in college where he dates his girlfriend Pandora
Officer Jaffe's disguise is actually based on Penelope Pistop (the 1st) when she was the age he knew her. He had a huge crush on her developping when they were still racers but she rejected him. He never truely recovered so he made a latex copy of her for CREEPY reasons. Useful with other clothes to pass as a fictional woman for schemes. So the fact his son gets to be with one of her daughters who took her main good looks from her makes him both proud and salty
He has a brother and a sister. He is the oldest male and his father being a boomer he was the one who inherited, but he is actually younger than his sister. The 3 siblings do like each other but are in conflict for opposite personalities and goals, childish fights and the fact they all are evil who grew up in a villain household so they have different relationships than us good guys. They rarely see each other ever since he became an international criminal. He doesn't care about his niblings Desdemona and Longarm though, never really met them
He was born and raised until he was 11 in London hence hiw British accent
His favorite chilling hobby is binging Netflix (using his mother's account because EVIL and broke) shows and movies where the main character is morally grey while drinking scotch or smoking a cigar (hence his yellow teeth) in his night robes and laughing at dumb plot point and characters with Muttley. He missed that one aspect a lot when Muttley was missing...
He's been looking for Muttley for 6 years and found about the Cerberus skull legends 6 months before the movie's events. He actually became a criminal during these years, needing to find any way as illegal as they were or whatever way he needed to pay for things even if it meant stealing. Anything to bring back his friend. Back when Muttley was there he just cheated, made schemes and inventions, could be a scammer (and frankly taking gold from an ancient mythological interdimensional portal can't truely count as stealing) but he wasn't really a criminal until that. Stealing also became essential to live since he was now on a constant run abd had gone through a divorce where his ex wife earned everything
For these 6 years, his relatives thought he was dead or abandonned them after the divorce all for a dog they believed had simply died. He does love his son but he was so obsessed by bringing back his friend he KNEW was alive and felt guilty for how he had gotten trapped because of himself, and also was too busy on the run and to focus to the point of lacking sleep that he forgot to cintact him. The reunion was very awkward and not very calm
He had Muttley ever since he was a puppy (from his father's dog Muttley 1) when himself was a young adult (dogs seem to live as much as humans in that universe lol), even before becoming a dad, when it was mostly himself alone and no one else. Hence why his disappearance broke him so hard
He can swear but only when he is really furious, taken aback or surprised. Over than that he TRIES not to because he hates it, that is not refined and big bad vulgar words can even fluster him like a kid. A sort of family tradition actually just like cheating and keeping a moustache
Despite how the gang thinks he is ugly because of many factore (they are just teens after all and like Daphne said he looks more like a dad than anythinh else, tjey hate how he tries to hurt their friends and is a criminal and they didn't actually meet him IRL yet to see by themselves), he is actually quite charismatic in universe when he wants to. During the movie he only focuses on his goal that is so close to be achieved so no other distraction is needed, but usally if he wants to have some fun, he can seduce women by being suave without too much difficulty (JASON ISAACS VOICE HEH). One night stands are not rare
It's precisely during a one night stand one eay he was back in London for a race that Dick the 3rd was unexpectedly made after a condom broke (they sued the company, won and by the time of his birth had a big house). Out of boomer principles Dick the 2nd felt obligated to marry her and brought her with him in US but never really liked her, adultery wasn't too rare form his part and fights were not rare. Hence why she was SO eager to kick him out after the divorce, leaving him only his flying machine as a home
He used to be a skinny nerd with technological diplomas who did inventions only for racing traps, scams and financing himself, but he ended up exercising and get buff thanks to natation and weightlifting because he was tired to struggle at he bottom of cliffs with rivers and trying to get out of his car wreck
He was a particular Dastardly since while being into tradition in a way (the moustache, the obsession to cheat and a determination to TRY to temain classy and dignified...), he didn't plan to go on with the lineage at all and just try to live a hedonistic life of a champion. A failure that had brought his feet back on earth
He gave his car to his son by the time he retired from racing (shortly before losing Muttley) and taught him to make traps and fix it himself. He still is horrified out of nostalgia he gave it updates changing its design but doesn't dare saying it outloud
He was inspired to become a racer from childhood thanks to racing celebrities he saw on TV and magazines and also because he loved mechanics especially vehicles, and was sure he could win as many prizes as them in a record time if he cheated his way to the top. Bad idea... he ended up retiring out of spite and focusing on scams and inventions after about 20 years of career. He still can be nostalgic of these times and whenever he met some of the few fans (there are some, generally villainous who admire treachery, and less often normal people who just found him funny) he had, he gladly signed autographs proud like a peacock. Well that was until the movie's event when he became an internationally criminal. But during these 6 years of inactivity, he still made jail but without it being public since not a lot of people remember losers and cheaters and the few who did assumed he was dead or something
He was and will be in jail more than once ever since he started his criminal ways. But he can be sleazy so he often gets out after some weeks (for cartoonish logic since it seems to be applied in that universe) thanks to good bootlicking conduct, blackmailing and snitching in other prisonners, so he would get out giving them a mocking salute. And being nearly 200 cm tall and muscular, you could hardly fight. It was only ONCE the guy he snitched on was actually 220 cm tall and beat the shit out of him. Dick was his buffoon bootlickikg servant for the remaining of his stay since then
Even while being a criminal after the movie's events, he made up with his son to catch up the lost time and so has him visit him or visits him all while being incognito. He hates how he got sarcastic towarss him though
He hates being reminded he is old so MUCH he hates years later the idea of becoming a grandpa. He still deeply gets attached to Dick the 4th when he's born
Just like his cartoon self, he's a scalie. Anthro female gators ooh~ he loves their lovebites

I HATE that Chris's and ta*kas hate for surge material seeped onto gagnarok fans. They desperately want Star Wars to change, because just like ta*ka and Chris, they don't care about the actual story. Star Wars is about a tragedy/drama with a hint of comedy, NOT a gay space opera. They want EVERY movie to be remade to be a comedic POS just like gagnarok and it's annoying af. I just....I just can't....
Tumblr media
Hi, you are the first Anon to send me a direct Ask. Thank You.
This is a long ramble, I hope you are okay with that.
TLDR:
My main points: Most “Fans are Dumb,” “Disney has a strong incentive to Destroy the Past which is a terrible way to make Money in the Long run,” and “Pay attention to Fan Stuff you like more than Cannon you don’t like”
If you get a DM or an Ask by Ragnorak Fans, just Feed of the Anger (Comic Loki would be proud of you) and use it as way to enhance you
1: Most “Fans” are dumb
Most “Fans” are people who watch the Movie 1 Time and think that their first viewing of the movie is the only way to interpret the movie and will strongly defend this stance. These types of Fans also never re-watch this same movies ever again. These “Fans” are generally also the same type of people who enjoy Transformers type films, or films they can watch that don’t make they think, have flashy nonsense in them, dumb elementary-school humor, and can be disposed of before the end of the week. Therefore, many of these causal types of fans are GREAT for getting a quick buck from, i.e. buying 1 movie ticket 1 time for, but often do not hang around Long enough to continue to buy merch for a certain IP.
Because there is always huge crowd of casuals who talk with only other casuals they will naturally try to attack anything that says any differently from what they want to hear. The first time they watch Ragnorak, it was a great movie. What these types of fans think is “I shouldn’t have to change MY stance to say that it’s a bad movie because that one time I watched it it was great. It must be THOSE fans who make the movie bad, not because the movie is actually bad.” Therefore, these causal Fans will attack anything that is easy and disrupts their “Happiness.”
Taika’s Ragnorak did a great job doing a good First impression and because there was a Huge causal market, Disney will likely be swayed to giving Taika some type of good movie after Thor 4.
However, target these Causal is a terrible Idea, especially now. Causal movie-goers are great for a quick profit, but the dedicated Fans of an IP (Dedicated Loki Fan Girls like me, Crazy Star Wars Fans who buy all the original Star Wars Merch, Comic Book Fans who buy 50 comics a Month) are the ones who buy all the Merch available and stay for Years for Fandoms. These types of Fans are rarely impressed for long by these types of Movies because they never respect the fundamentals of an IP. I want to establish a relationship with these characters, to become invested in them and see how they grow and develop and I will pay to continue to see that story, however I can’t do that if the creatives behind them are always “LOL, NO.” (Looking at you GoT)
3: Disney has a strong incentive to “Destroy the Past,” Therefore they don’t want to respect old IP and Fandoms
Have you watched “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and Kylo says “Let the Past die, Kill it if you have to.” You want to know why he said that? Because Disney and Rian Johnson don’t make money and don’t gain power and respect if you Buy the Original Star Wars Merch. J.J. Abram’s Star Trek Films made at least 100-200 million dollars in the box office and they are only 10 years old but they are begin Destroyed by the Original and Next Generation Star Trek Merch sales. J.J. Abrams did a decent enough Job catching the “Fan” attention so they could make money off of the Movie, but never caught enough attention from Fans to keep making money off of the Merch for the Movie.
This same basic principle also applies to Taika and the Russo Brothers. Taika gets respect and money if you talk about Ragnorak, or how EpIc (ugh) Thanos was, or how the story was structure, or any other nonsense about how those movies are great. Neither Taika nor Russo Brothers made Loki, therefore they don’t have incentive to either treat him (or his fandom) with respect. However, because they continue to Attack Fans, it’s likely that they will eventually see a Steep drop-off of Fans who actually buy and respect their Work. After all, lots of Artists do a great job capturing Fans attention, and the second these Artists aren’t Cool anymore they will be forgotten.
What is more fondly remember today. Star Trek (2009) or Star Trek the Next Generation.
Taika wants Thor and TDW to be seen as inferior to Ragnorak because he gets money and power from it. Because of the large amount of Money Ragnorak made, Marvel is willing to promote ideas and Fans that encourage this narrative. Because the fickle nature of causal Fans, Taika will eventually piss off enough people that his will lose his power and respect because there are only so many people you can piss off because no one will buy your crap.
Star Wars and Marvel Comics became popular because they had great characters, iconic scenes, and important lessons to tell. Fans love these stories. Disney doesn’t want you to remember the old Stuff, they want you to Buy their new stuff and will use any tactic to do so. Disney want to respect Old stories. Taika and Pro-Ragnorak Fans are just one way they try to do this.
I Love Loki, and I want to see more stories, comics, fanfictions, and fanart with him, but Neither Taika nor Russo Brother get anything out of that deal. Therefore, I am a threat to their power and money (Not that I care)
3: Cultivate your own fandom Experiences.
Because of these types of Behind-the-Scenes non-sense, I find that the best Fandom stories come from people who actually care about the Fandom. Taika did not care about Thor, therefore he couldn’t tell a Great Thor Story. Taika does not care about Star Wars, therefore he will make a bad Star Wars Story. Go to part of Fandoms where people actually care about the material. Lots of Fanfiction and Fanart isn’t great, but at least their is care and passion for the work behind every line, every brush, every work, every sentence that many people in Disney Lack.
If you made it this far. Thanks for listening to my rant. Um, ... You are always in your right to like or not like something. Most people want to bully you to follow their ideas because they are right you are wrong.
Thanks for Asking me. I would love to get more asks.

Halloween Hocus Pocus You Can'T Sit With Us T-Shirt
Tumblr media
Trust me Halloween Hocus Pocus You Can'T Sit With Us T-Shirt . I know some of the people there are very oversensitive and subjective but they do have lots of direct connections with sellers and are always showing them what to make next, UK might be able to make this if you petition it on FS. not sure why you’re downvoted, its an honest opinion. I think the quality of materials and embroidery on the real piece are what will make it stand out in person. and yes definitely going for an 80’s vibe, but lots of designers seem to be doing it nowadays.Halloween Hocus Pocus You Can'T Sit With Us T-Shirt, hoodie, sweater, longsleeve and ladies t-shirt
