#hc. #to be fair he doesn't 'talk' to them but his thrall #abilities are very strong even for his species it's his sort #of 'special' ability unique to him that he is able to hold in #extended thrall animals / people / even other vampires #though his ability to hold another true higher vampire in #thrall is very limited and he's only ever practiced it on #dettlaff who urged him to try it just to encourage regis to #'be himself' or allow himself to occupy his body and #abilities as a vampire after living as a human for so long #but regis can establish thrall with only his vision and #the use of his voice makes it especially potent if needed #he does not need to touch or bite to do this but when #he fed from humans his thrall after biting was unbreakable #even by magick the few times he fed on a sorcerer #but #regis does not ever use his powers unless his safety is #threatened and /sometimes/ in his role as a surgeon or #doctor when a patient needs to be calmed or to ease pain #also if you're sick / injured and refuse to rest he will 100% #konk you out against your will it's the vampire equivalent #of threatening to strap you into your hospital bed
