so I just finished my first run through of Stray Gods aka that visual novel musical based on Greek mythos and,,,you know how there are visual novels that don't have romance as the MAIN point but yet still have romance routes in them? Like you get the MAIN gist of the game with or without those romance routes - like, those romance routes are simply side dishes that add more to enjoy with the main course? Yea it seems to be like that with most of the romance routes here in Stray Gods and I'm not saying that as a bad thing at all BUT MY GOD FREDDIE'S ROUTE ISN'T LIKE THAT AT ALL LIKE IT ACTUALLY IS THE MOST PERSONALLY AND EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED ROUTE FOR ME BY THE THIRD ACT THAT IT KIND OF CHANGES THE MAIN COURSE ENTIRELY AND I MEAN THAT IN A VERY GOOD WAY-

wait I do want to elaborate a bit more on what the sweetest spot for reading new spring is:
if you want siuraine -> after TGH or after TSR but before TFOH if you want to make the most of the angst
if you want aes sedai politics and are too impatient to wait until LOC -> anytime after EOTW but preferably after TGH
if you want to learn about the hunt for the dragon reborn and exactly the pains that moiriane and siuan went through to find him after reading their interaction in TGH -> after TGH or TDR or TSR
if you want the wondergirls shenanigans parallels with siuan and moiraine about their time in the tower -> after TGH
if you want the rand and moiraine parallels to really hit -> before TSR or TFOH which are THE moiraine/rand parallels books
if you want to read more backstory about moiraine’s family, history etc before she accompanies rand to Cairhien in TFOH -> after TSR
if you want to feel sadder about moiraine’s relationship with lan and siuan -> after TFOH
if you want context and history for certain aes sedai that start to feature prominently after the first half of the series (and specifically, who play a more significant role from ACOS onwards) -> after LOC
but reading it whenever you feel like doing so also works - when you should Ideally read it is not really a big deal like the fandom makes it out to be. having read the series though, I think I’m personally biased towards reading it before or after TFOH because it fits under most of the above criteria while also having the added benefit of getting to read it along with the best books in the series (TSR & TFOH) meaning you get to extend your streak of reading the best part of the series.

Mark : Even after *pretty much all of his shitty behavior against Thatcher* , you still approach me?
Thatcher : I can't hug the shit out of you without getting closer
Sometimes it's hard to believe you're more than deserving of basic human kindness. And sometimes the most terrifying thing is allowing yourself to be loved freely, with no expectations hanging over your head.
Mark needs to learn that, I think.

Somebody abducted two tamarin monkeys from the Dallas Zoo!! They don't know who did it yet but apparently there's obvious tampering in their habitat
What is going ON in Dallas??
At this point I do genuinely think it’s poaching. This is horrible and I legitimately hope the perpetrator(s) get mauled to death by the hippos.

I totally forgot to mention that I called a prevention hotline on July 20th because I was having a Bad Time™ and the lady wound up calling the police because I was in active crisis.
Note that, while in crisis, I was physically perfectly fine. I had a knife, but I hadn't used it; I was fine.
The cops showed up after the lady had managed to talk me down, and then proceeded to nearly break my wrist when I refused to go to the Hospital and tried to go back to work. I will absolutely have scars from four of them tackling my 4'10 ass to the ground, and smashing my wrist into concrete. Reminder that prior to this, I was perfectly fine!
But hey, good thing the cops got involved, or I might've gotten hurt, right? /s

Now that I think about it, it would be kinda interesting to get a season about Retsuko's and Haida's quiet everyday life together where nothing batshit crazy happens. The show's slice-of-life aspect was always the strongest in my opinion and while the big season-long storylines were pretty compelling for the most part, I can't help but wonder what it would be like if the creators mostly stuck to their sitcom roots.
In other words, the slice-of-life-ness is the foundation of the show, the thing that keeps the whole structure standing, but the taller it grows, the less stable it becomes eventually reaching the point of diminishing returns. So what if we stripped everything down and just kept the foundation? What If, say, Aggretsuko wasn't a netflix production but a regular network tv thing created with less emphasis on overarching storylines and with more of an episodic format? Usually I find myself in the opposite camp of this discussion, preferring plot-driven shows over episodic ones but in this particular case I think there is a compelling argument to be made for a less plot-focused version of Aggretsuko. To me that change is one obvious way to leverage the strong aspects of the show over its weaker ones.
I have a bunch more to say on this but I'm too lazy to type all that out so I'm just gonna summerize it as this:
The most memorable part of S5 for me was the persimmons storyline. It was minor and inconsequential to the point that it could've been cut out entirely without affecting the main story BUT It was silly, down to earth, relatable, adorable even, dare I say it...iconic. Now what if a whole season was made up of multiple interconnected persimmons-type storylines? A whole metaphorical box of persimmons, if you will. Anyone got a spare box of fresh persimmons by any chance? Hit me up, I'll be all over that shit

There is something I do that interferes with my daily life to the point it's causing me a loooot of distress and discomfort and shame and I wanna stop it but it's genuinely so embarrassing I am taking it with me to my grave at all costs
