honestly the first character since furina i feel this determine to pull on. although unlike with furina, I won't be trying to go for e6 on him. they're not bad, but I don't think they're worth pulling for in comparison to other things, esp since they integrated his OG e1 into his base kit (the only thing e1 does is give a little crdmg and shield; not bad, but it's not like, amazing. lc over his e1, or save that e1 5* for someone with a bonkers e1 like Ruan Mei). and e2 is nice for ratio teams, but also...i feel like it should've also been able to apply with his fua as well....like again they're not bad, but I think one should only pull for his eidolons if they're truly down bad, or have $2000 just sitting there. his e6 is fucking broken tho, but it's an e6, so no surprises there (basically gets a free 150% dmg bonus; sure technically he needs shield teammates, but when you're at e6 this bitch will never give you up and throw away his shield srsly wtf my guy)

and i do have to be honest...his LC is really good on him, no doubt his BiS (and before you go to Trend of Universal Market, no, his LC is way better at debuff application than it. Gepard's LC is his 2nd best lc tho), but you should consider which teams you want to run with him. this LC shoots up in value if you're planning to build a fua team with him, as I am doing with ratio-aven-topaz. However, if you're really wanting to commit to this team, these are priorities (in order excluding Robin, since she's still not properly released)

Robin (like RM she buffs the whole team, and seems to be really good as a premium FUA harmony like RM was to DoT teams; although RM is still really good, since she can apply debuffs for ratio. Tho frankly, I think both RM and Robin are REALLY good for DoT teams and you can use them pretty interchangeably. RM's delay lets more DoT trigger, as does Robin's action advance; RM's dmg boost and be increases DoT, Robin's ATK and dmg boost scales with all DoTs; RM gives free speed, robin action advances whole team with ult; honestly it's a bit of a tough call, and I'm sure there'll be a lot of theorycrafting and stuff. but with boothill and a general increase of break effect focused units, I'm sure RM will be implemented in those teams) ok now that I think about it she might not be the penultimate fua harmony lmao

Topaz s1 or e1. I think s1 is a bit better, but do whichever one is cheaper for you (which...would likely be s1, since weapon banner has lower pity lmao)

Ratio LC. It's fucking ridiculous AND THERE'S AN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DUCK. DO IT FOR THE DUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Aven LC is not bad, as it boosts his and his team's dmg by 12% from what I've seen, and it helps him reach the full 4k def to max out his crate passive, but you should be aware of other priorities if you are going for a fua team. esp since its effect allows him to act as a better subdps and enables ratio and topaz, effectively giving the team THREE subdps (and you're getting dmg from a SUSTAIN. sustains usually contribute to only 5% of the team's dmg, but aven has been able to go up to 12-18% alone, which is pretty nuts). as for me...i am lacking a topaz and ratio lc. But I am pulling for Aven's LC because I love love love this man hey in fact did you know I have saved up ~308 pulls saved up hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha and it would've been ~378 if I wasn't such a kafka believer (and also because it was, um. cheaper than going for an acheron team....😅)

ultimately, although aven has sub-dps capabilities, most people should prioritize his sustain first, I think. if you want him as a sub dps, then you should go for his LC. I'm personally going to try out a 2pc salsatto + 2pc pioneer + 2pc knights, and then go for a 4pc pioneer + 2pc salsatto to get extra *spicy.* I will be running def boots on him, but go for speed boots if you want him to generate more SP (but also note that he has like. 106 SPD at base, which is as fast as asta & yukong for reference). tho if you run spd boots, you would prob have to run a def body and 2pc belobog.

however, 4pc knight is never a bad idea. But don't farm too hard for a 4pc; I just have a lot of knights pieces from when I was farming Kafka artifacts pre-Prisoner set. you can really just run something like 2pc knights and then flex the remaining slots. the two remaining slots could just be rainbow artifacts with a lot of def or crdmg. or maybe something like 2pc pioneer for dmg (ONLY IF YOU HAVE A DEBUFFER THO, OTHERWISE RUN 2PC DUKE OR 2PC BANDIT), 2pc guards for his own dmg reduction (but 2pc guard is really awful for him since it does. basically nothing for him), 2pc hackerspace for spd.

planar sets are a lot easier. salsatto for dmg, broken keel is always good and he won't have any issue proccing its effect because of the insane amount of eff res he provides, and belobog (but only if you're really struggling hitting his 4000 def requirement). maybe you can run signoia on him too? but only in pure fiction, and even then it's better you prioritize it on your dps (and also survivability isn't as important in pure fiction as it is in MoC; you probably should only run aven if you're really struggling to kill the enemies. if you are having issues with survivability tho, I actually do recommend running 4pc guard on your supports, if you have any lying around after farming the quantum domain. the guard set is rlly niche, but when it works it really works. it's the only reason I was able to 36* last moc, since my team on the second half consisted of ratio, tingyun, pela, and fire MC (my lynx and natasha couldn't keep up with their healing, and can't apply debuffs like fire MC can w/ taunt or universal market))

anyways, that's all i have for nerding out about aventurine. I will be maxing out his traces (relatively. his basic atk is useless as fuck, so L bozo) and laying at his feet. wish me luck in my pulls.

Number 3 TRUTH SCENE

I’m not even close of being capable to express the whole scene as good as @bird-inacage, so please read this post if you wanna go into the feels. For me, personal, this scene means a lot. On a ’funny’ sidenote, Fort’s acting as Prapai single handedly got me out of my own trauma I was wallowing in since seven years. No joke.  It’s the quiet reassurance, the ‘I am here, I am hearing you out, I am not judging you badly for what happened to you, or how you think badly about yourself’. It just got me.  The tears that rolled down Prapai’s face? The pain he was going through knowing what Sky went through? Intense. The acting was intense. The scene was intense. The wounds it had reopened in myself were intense. But also the healing, the way you saw Sky healing just a tad bit. The “Can I love you?” - because let’s be real. This is THE fear if you ever got burned badly. I could ramble about that scene for hours. 

Number 4 RESCUE SCENE

Linking back to @bird-inacage again bc damn did that post do things to me.  (We’re running briefly into sad hours, pls forgive me) For several reasons that scene got to me. I might or might not have re-watched it several times just to see if it still triggers me or if I managed to heal.  I saw myself in Sky SO MUCH it was almost scary (Peat is a hell of an actor. Can we award him?). Not gonna go into detail bc I suspect no one’s ever wants to hear that. So just lemme say the way Prapai reacted was superb. In all those years I always wished for such a reaction, and seeing it on screen did a number on me.  It’s refreshing to see that there is this tiny possibility of hope for finding care in such moments.  The scene holds a special place in my heart and somehow became my comfort zone (as weird as it sounds.)

Number 5  FIRST TIME LOVE MAKING

we were all part of the ‘special ed’ (it was actually supposed to be a room where kids went to regulate their emotions) class and while some of my ‘friends’ had the option and did go to actual main line classes, i was not so lucky and was permanently stuck to that room (i still am! i just avoid going there now cause most of the kids are now physically violent and not just verbally rude anymore plus im now on a parttime timetable and go to a second far smaller school where the staff and kids are way nicer lol)

And I couldn't speak up coz I wasn't in my right mind until months upon months later when I was finally out of there and away from that place and a person there. And I just sort of... never did. We weren't on talking terms anymore and I haven't spoken to them since. It is the only relationship in my life that has ever ended disastrously. Friends, family, romantic, etc. First and so far the last. So we respected each others wishes and didn't speak. I wouldn't know how to tell them anyways coz it wouldn't be just one person I'd be telling... and it would bring up so much grief and anger. And possibly put me in jail, but I'm honestly not sure about that one, whether there's actual laws surrounding what I did or not. I *think* there are but I haven't seen them enacted on anyone before so idk. But I'm sure they would come after me and they would have every right to. I deserve to feel guilty and awful for what I did and I won't ever forgive myself and that's how it should be. That's what is morally and ethically right. I need to think of it every day, at least once, until I die in order to respect the one involved that didn't deserve to be involved. The one that was innocent and got caught between a really complicated situation that I didn't know was happening to me at the time. I need it to repent, too. Not in a religious way coz fuck religion and all those cults. But repent as in absorb the pain I caused an individual for something that wasn't their fault and didn't even have anything to do with them.

There's so much more, but you get the gist. It's just what is right when you do something so terrible that you can't even say it aloud to anyone.

They can’t keep their hands off each other

This chapter isn’t one of those “big reveal” chapters where you get slapped in the face with information, like the previous one where we learned about Yashiro’s impotence. This chapter is more subtle; however, there’s some great takeaways from it, the main one being that both Doumeki’s and Yashiro’s masks are cracking and, despite themselves, they’re starting to show just how much they want each other.

What I love the most is all the touching and dragging around. Doumeki drags Yashiro by the hand at Tsunakawa’s place and Yashiro pulls away, irritated, asking “Do you think I’m going to run away?” Doumeki responds with “You did so before,” remembering how Yashiro pointed a gun at him in chapter 33 then ran off to deal with Hirata. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. Why? Because Doumeki still cares. He’s worried about Yashiro, and doesn’t want him to run off into danger again. Yashiro tells Doumeki that he forgot about that incident but, to himself, he admits that he remembers everything he’s done. OMG is Yashiro feeling guilty? Contrite? That is growth! Old Volume One Yashiro wouldn’t give a single fuck about those kinds of things, that was just business. He threw old flames away as soon as they developed feelings, but Doumeki is still here, there’s history between them, and Yashiro has all kinds of tangled emotions about that.

The proof of those emotions comes later in the chapter, when Doumeki puts Yashiro under protection. After a meeting at Tsunakwa’s, there’s a worry that this whole situation is more dangerous than it seems, there are things lurking that haven’t fully come to light and that this isn’t just about money. Yashiro is asked who he wants as a bodyguard, Doumeki or Kamiya, and Yashiro blithely says either of them, because sometimes he’s still Old Yashiro and likes to play games. Doumeki calls him out on it by putting Kamiya in charge.

On the car ride back to his apartment, Yashiro enjoys torturing Kamiya (who is ofc driving bc Yashiro drives like shit.) He tells Kamiya that if he tattles about anything he hears to Tsunakawa, Yashiro will strip him and make him is fuckbuddy ajklshas I live for any interaction between them. Kamiya thinks he’s The Man and watching Yashiro bat him around is priceless. 

But Yashiro does not want Kamiya as his bodyguard. He wants Doumeki. And he acts rashly. He throws Kamiya out of the door and grabs Doumeki, dragging him along, just the way he did in chapter 20 when he realized that Doumeki had narrowly escaped death. Both then and now, Yashiro’s feelings for Doumeki overwhelmed him and he lost his chess-ability thinking, lost his mask, and went straight to his lizard brain. He wants Doumeki and he’s going to show it!

To be honest, there’s been a lot of touching since chapter 44 and it’s all beginning to boil over. From the shower scene, to Doumeki pulling Yashiro away from Inami and that steamy sexiness in Yashiro’s apartment, they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. And now they’re dragging each other around in overly-familiar ways? Brilliant. 

After Yashiro’s little hissy fit about what bodyguard he wants, Doumeki puts his gloved hand over Yashiro’s by the elevator buttons and leans in behind him, telling him “I’ll be back” and for some reason the entire thing is sexual af (like, srsly, look how close he’s standing ajsgakjgk) Yashiro is visibly shook; there are those emotions again. But let’s talk about Doumeki’s emotions for a moment too. He uses Anata when speaking with Yashiro, and says that his ability to gather intel will never be as strong as Yashiro’s. Those are both very kind things, repsectful. Despite his poker face, Doumeki still cares so much. He even makes sure to tell Yashiro that he will come back, but first he has to pick up a weapon (that is not his dick.) He also asks about Inami and WE ALL KNOW that there’s a bunch of jealousy in there.

Hopefully, once Doumeki comes back, we will have some Forced Proximity. The two of them alone in Yashiro’s apartment? Or another location? With only one bad? Doumeki protecting him? They will be forced to talk? And maybe feelings will come out? And touching? P L E A S E

A few other things:

-I love that the cover for this chapter has them side-by-side, not one following the other, or one hovering slightly behind, but together. As equals. And they need to be equals for their relationship to work.

-If you’re looking for some Reverse Dynamic in this chapter, Yashiro stares at the back of Doumeki’s neck, pining, just as Doumeki did with Yashiro in chapter 7. I saw those frames and it immediately brought me back.

-There is some link between Doushinkai and Okuyama’s group and Okuyama is an unstable factor with an axe to grind over Doumeki un-kidnapping Tsunakawa’s daughter so that’s probably why there IS more to this than money.
