I want to see characters being taken care of in an explicit and worshipful way. Home-cooked meals. Hair brushed and braided by gentle hands. Little gifts just because.
I want to read about characters who are not used to kindness being bombarded by acts of service. This trope works romantically and platonically. Give me found family and acts of service - all the ways a character is wrapped up in wordless, explicit care after years of cruelty and having no idea how to handle. I need it.

So far, we've got the three D's: Dogday, Daddy Long Legs, and Drew.

It's quite funny having followed you for years and years and knowing Machete as his dark, bloodied, cunning (and always on the edge of getting horribly murdered for his hubris) incarnation, and coming into 2024 and just... yeah he's gay now. Maybe he's even happy. Redemption at last... perhaps he DID get assassinated indeed and all those AUs are just his personal afterlife (does he get to go to Heaven? Seems so!)

"hey pretty"
you offer no response, shutting the door behind you as you enter the room. tossing your bag carelessly to the floor, you kneel beside the countless sneakers belonging to san and mingi, scattered haphazardly around the room.
you reach down to untie your air forces, dropping the first shoe onto the ground. the movement catches your boyfriends' attention, but they remain silent, watching you intently.
"bad day?" san asks softly from his spot on the couch, seated next to mingi. their eyes fixate on you, concern etched in their gazes.
"bad day." you mumble in confirmation, proceeding to untie your other black shoe. however, the lace gets snagged, and your fingers fumble clumsily. you pull harder, but instead of loosening, the knot tightens even more. it becomes the breaking point for you.
a sob escapes your lips, and you bury your face in your hands, too weary to do anything else. your body quakes on the floor as tears stream down your face. you want the crying to stop, to take a breath, but you find yourself caught in a strange battle of attempting both and choking in the process.
the crying intensifies, and you feel your nails digging into your eyebrows, a feeble attempt to hide away momentarily. you're tired, utterly exhausted, and all you crave is sleep. yet, with your shoe trapped on your foot, you can't retreat to the solace of your sheets.
taking another shaky breath, you sense a shadow falling across your face, momentarily shielding you from the light. you don't budge from your position, continuing to cry. a cold hand gently rests upon your own, and you flinch softly, caught off guard. the thumb begins to rub tenderly against your skin.
you recognize the touch as san's. he coos softly, coaxing your hands away from your face. initially, you resist, not wanting him to witness the streaked mascara and runny nose. however, he manages to gently coax you out of your shell.
when your eyes meet his, you're met with a gentle gaze, his eyes locked with yours as he squats in front of you. his smile is soft, and the tears flow even harder, his tenderness overwhelming you in this moment. he chuckles softly, bringing his large hands up to wipe away your tears, pinching your cheeks gently.
"my big girl what's wrong mmh?" he croons, his voice filled with affection. "what's got you like this huh my strong girl?" the endearing nicknames tug at your heart, causing you to cry even more.
"awnn, it's okay baby, big girls cry when it gets too hard," he nods understandingly, validating your emotions. you reciprocate with a nod of your own, sniffling. he brings his thumb to your cheekbone.
"i'll go make you hot cocoa, want that?" you nod again, the sobs calming slightly at his soothing whispers.
"your words baby, can you use them for me?" he encourages you softly, and you manage a meek "yes please," stuttering through your soft sobs. he presses a tender kiss to your lips and smiles, placing his hands on his knees as he stands up. it's then that you finally notice mingi's tall figure behind him.
mingi, too, crouches down in front of you, silently taking your foot clad in a shoe into his large hands. he deftly works on untying the shoelace, his long fingers effortlessly undoing the knot you struggled with. once untied, he removes the sneaker from your foot, placing it neatly aside, a stark contrast to his own untidy ones beside the black pair.
he grasps both of your feet and begins tickling them, eliciting tired giggles from you. finally, a smile breaks across his face as he witnesses your own. he pulls you closer, tugging at your legs and sliding his hands beneath your thighs. lifting you effortlessly, the two of you rise to your feet, and you simply rest your head against his solid chest, briefly closing your eyes as he carries you to the couch. the paused episode of "law & order" flickers on the television. he settles down, you still cradled in his arms, and he gently eases you off him so that you're sitting upright. he helps you remove your bomber jacket, tossing it onto the nearby couch. tapping your thigh, he signals for you to stand up so he can remove your denim skirt, but you shake your head.
"please no, wanna stay close to you please," your voice cracks on the second "please," and he sighs.
"okay tiny," his deep voice emerges softly from his lips as he pulls you closer, his forehead gently touching yours. "you've got a fever pretty."
"makes sense, head hurts like a bitch," you close your eyes, inhaling the minty scent that wafts from his laughter.
"san, bring me some ibuprofen," mingi calls out to san, who responds with a sweet "okay!" you flinch at the loud sound, the throbbing in your head intensifying. mingi notices and places his large hands over your ears, the pressure offering some relief. "sorry baby, didn't mean to be loud."
"'s okay princess." he smiles at the cute nickname and kisses your forehead.
he assists you in removing your black turtleneck, and then proceeds to remove his own t-shirt. moving closer, he goes to unclasp your bra, seeking your consent with a fingertip poised on the clasp. you give a soft nod, your eyes growing heavy with exhaustion. he removes your bra, joining it with the rest of your discarded clothes. finally, he pulls you back into his embrace, handling you delicately until your chests align. the coolness of his skin instantly soothes you, and you release a sigh of relief. he snakes his hands around your waist, tracing star patterns along your spine, whispering compliments into your ear.
san returns to the room, placing a large brown mug and two blue translucent pills on the glass table in front of you. he quickly exits but reappears with micellar solution and a handful of cotton pads.
taking a seat beside you, he lifts your face from its place in the crook of mingi's neck, causing you to emit a soft moan of protest. he hushes you gently, his smile radiant as ever. "come on, look at me, pretty. you don't want to sleep with makeup on your face."
he wets a cotton pad with the micellar water and proceeds to cleanse your face with delicate motions, barely perceptible against your skin. then, using a dry pad, he gently removes any lingering traces of the liquid.
"baby too sleepy for the cocoa?" san inquires, running a hand through your hair, his brow furrowing as he detects the dampness on your hairline. not out of disgust, but rather out of worry because the room is too chilly for you to be perspiring. he turns around, stretching to retrieve the folded blanket at the end of the couch, reluctant to leave your side. unfolding it, he covers you, tucking it between mingi's back and the couch, creating a soothing cocoon.
"no, want it" you whine in a broken voice, and both boys smile at your fragile form, finding you irresistibly adorable. "ah, so bossy," san remarks as he takes the cup and pills, inserting one into your mouth before bringing the cup to your plush lips, helping you swallow. he repeats the process with the second pill.
"want another sip baby?" he coos, noting the way you scrunch your nose. he exchanges a glance with mingi, both of them deeply in love with you, their stomachs still fluttering with butterflies even after all these years.
"no, just one marshmallow, please" you request, extending your hand from beneath the blanket to show them your index finger, emphasizing the importance of having only one.
san's smile widens, his blush evident on his face at your endearing plea, while mingi takes your fingers and presses a kiss to them, producing a loud smooching sound that elicits a soft laugh from you.
"say ahh"

So. Fatebreaker, right? Ryne's biggest fears made manifest, daddy issues personified, yes?
He's an amalgamation of Thancred and Ran'jit, his face, his voice and his weapon is Thancred's, but his body, his fighting style and his words are Ran'jit's.
Throughout the fight Fatebreaker constantly makes comments about how only he can protect Ryne, only he can provide for her, only he has even the right to so much as stand beside her, to be in her general presence. He's possessive and obsessive, repeatedly asserting that she is HIS and his only. Which is exactly what Ran'jit says basically every time we encounter him.
But this time it's in Thancred's voice. This time it's with the voice and face of a man she actually cares about.
Ryne isn't scared of Thancred, she never has been. Even when she first met him she was barely even nervous (as clearly shown in Thancred's short story). There's a lot of different feelings happening between those two, but fear has never been one of them.
But now, after things have gotten so much better, she is scared of Thancred becoming like Ran'jit. Because if Thancred was just a little further gone, if he was just a little less compassionate, he would've. It wouldn't be hard for him to go down the same path as Ran'jit did, to be incapable of letting go of the ghost of that girl he loved so so much to the point he'd stubbornly grip anything close to her he could. He didn't, but the fact he could've is terrifying.
It makes his final words, words that are Thancred's, so very important. This is her deepest fears made manifest, but he still says he wants her to be happy. Her happiness not only matters, but is important to him.
#Now we -the audience- ofc knew Thancred was unlikely to go down that path#bc if theres one thing hes been consistent in even in his darkest moments its living up to his loved ones' wishes and legacies#the only time he even speaks against it is his conversation w minfilia in amh araeng#and thats more a case of all his (poorly) repressed grief and stress exploding than him actually meaning what he says#and trying to control rynes life after minfilia literally told him to just let her live her life goes directly against that#i think about fatebreaker a lot. as i do all things related to ryne & thancred#and to me its so important to note that hes more or less ran'jit with just enough thancred in him to be *too* thancred for comfort#its so. her greatest fear isnt even the thing thats been haunting her her whole life (being forced to fill in for minfilia)#its having her free will taken from her by the person she cares about the most (thancred)#and for him to be trapped in endless suffering because he cant move on#just like ran'jit did and was#its not even necessarily that shes all that scared of ran'jit himself#what shes scared about is caring about someone like that#because then she wont say no or try to be anyone but minfilia#(thats also why this fear appears specifically after things get better)#(because she was already ready to forsake herself if it eased thancred suffering)#okay im gonna stop now i need to sleep gnight everyone#ryne waters#thancred waters#ran'jit#final fantasy#final fantasy 14#final fantasy xiv#ff14#ffxiv#xander rambles#at this point i should make a tag for ryne ramble posts i make so many of them#tomorrow. maybe. if i remember#edit: i made it#xander being insane about ryne

I know this is a long shot, and I have no idea how Messiah is even going to be handled onscreen in regards to the time jump, but I'd love a scene of Paul wrapping up his own wounds from the end of Part 2. Because one, you can't just injure your main character That Much and then never follow up on it in any way.
But more importantly I want that emphasis on how alone he is. I need the narrative to keep acknowledging that. Despite being so important *in theory*, he isn't protected, he isn't cared about. He's a thing to be in awe of and be terrified of. So having him alone, injured, taking care of himself in private with nobody watching him or following him...and then having him drag himself back to his feet to go commit more war crimes immediately after showing him in a deeply vulnerable and lonesome position would be. hm. something.

What makes White Collar hold up so much better than other police procedurals:
It was part of the "pretty happy shows with gorgeous ensemble casts and a charismatic weird guy" USA network era but it somehow used that to be about stuff that is so REAL
What is justice? Is our system fair? Can you be a criminal and still be a good man? Can you be a good man and still work for the system?
The bad guys are rich assholes, and people defrauding families out of their homes, and unethical pharmaceutical companies. People manipulating energy supply out of greed resulting in blackouts which are showing *harming a dog,* aka how to show something is monstrous in a pg show written by a white person. Class exists in this universe in more ways than having a cardboard concept of a "rich guy."
The bad guys include police, FBI agents, prison staff, judges, senators. Those people cause real harm, obstruct justice, plant evidence, kill people. It's shown how the system protects them and harms regular people.
The harm that causes the main character to go from wanting to be part of the system, to subverting and working against it, is him finding out about an act of police corruption, brutality, and murder--and what's more, that if he became a cop, that's what he could become.
The harm that causes the main character to be outside the white picket fence is that the system failed his family after that act. What happened to Neal's mom? Why did nobody besides Helen step in? They had to check in with US Marshals, did nobody notice this kid didn't have an adult fit to parent?
So Neal turns to found family. And let's be real, heavily polyamory coded found family at that. But he keeps chasing the idea of a girl who will be everything. But he's got all this attachment trauma so he never does. But because found family is real family, even the people who freaking played the characters are still connected a decade later

Your influence in this world doesn't need to be all-encompassing and World Changing. It can be small ripples. It can be gentle and easily missed.
Let yourself do small things. So often, people have this idea that to do "good things," it must be a grand gesture that changes every little thing. Honestly, that can be so intimidating and scary. We weren't meant to carry the world by ourselves. We each contribute, often in small ways, often in ways that aren't seen by everybody. But the people you affect might just take that kindness you gave them and let it light them home. Let yourself be that in whatever way you want. You don't need to carry the world alone.

the thing about midori and yuzuru to me personally is that even how midori usually gets yuzuru's guard down by his very passionate attachment to him and his art, realistically speaking there's no way yuzuru wouldn't have to jump at least several dozen mental hoops to let himself get too close to someone whom he shouldn't have had any particular relation with initially. while i do love drawing them just hanging out a lot (enrichment!! i think itd be good for them both) a majority of the time it comes from a place where i think this guy would never let himself get too carried away and forgo any chance of making needless deeper interpersonal relationships and goddamn if im not going to study it

avm with stick Alan is hilarious because it is not something a normal human can handle. After Yellow gets possessed by the lucky block entity he is the first person that yellow converts. everytime something gets dangerous he is the first to panic and survives by pure luck. he can't even get a break because he never has any warning before a fun activity tries to kill everyone. It's a good thing he decided not to watch YouTube with the others that one time...
YEAH... genuinely nothing goes right for any of them
the kids probably do start making an effort to make sure alan doesn't get bothered though unless something important is going on.... like, imagining they make a house padded with wool so it's noise canceling. sometimes SC naps in there with alan. they see alan come out well-rested once and they're immediately like 'HECK YEAH THE PLAN SUCCEEDED'
