Cod Boi Grian

Since he has been addicted to fishing so far, and people keep bringing up his likeness to the cod, I decided to draw Grian as a fish. Normally I draw him as a macaw so this was a fun change of pace. I made him an Atlantic cod. I was gonna make him the red one, but it was just too much red😅

“Don’t. Please, don’t,” the arachnologist whimpered from the sticky confines of the web.

This was not what he thought the townspeople meant when they said they needed a specialist. He assumed there was some sort of infestation, an ecological imbalance he could advise on, not…not…

The woman, spider, spider woman slid her hands over either side of his trembling face. Regrettably, as she drew in closer, he couldn’t help but notice her posterior was that of a wolf spider, dark brown, long-legged, and lightly covered in hair.

“This…this isn’t your web,” he said dumbly.

She froze.

“Y-you don’t spin webs, you catch prey on foot, this isn’t your web.”

Why are you talking to it? Are you trying to accuse it of stealing another spider monster’s meal and make it more mad? Just stop it!”

“How do you know this?” she said, cocking her head to the side, long, dark hair drifting to one side of her slender neck. If he could ignore the fangs and spider legs, she would be pretty.

“I-I-I.” He hadn’t expecting it…her…to be able to speak. He took a shuddering breath and tried not squeak as he spoke. “I’m sort of an expert?”

She leaned in close once again, and Human squeezed his eyes shut. Breath tickled warm along his throat and… The clinging threads snapped around him, but before he could even experience falling, the creature caught him in her arms, holding him close and protective as she ran scarily fast out of the cavern. Human felt sick just thinking about being pursued by a wolf spider this size.

Human clung instinctively to her neck and hair. “W-what…?”

“We are sick. Dying. You are human, and you are an expert. You will help us.”
