The known supply of Black Augerite and Peat Blocks being exhausted? Yeah, that sounds reasonable.

Reasons I don’t believe in asexual Mycroft.

OK let's take of the equation he's played by Mark Gatiss and well, I doubt the man has any idea what asexual is so to portray or write the character as such.

His quotes in A scandal in Belgravia.

Mycroft: Don’t be alarmed, it’s to do with sex. Sherlock: Sex doesn’t alarm me. Mycroft: How would you know?

We know Sherlock isn't alarmed by sex due to other exchanges. He uses it to belittle others. eg. Sally and Anderson. Mycroft as an older brother may still see his baby brother as a... well brother. Or thinks his dysfuctional personality has kept him far away from what we call a human need. According to Sherlock, before John he didn't do friendships, and boyfriends/girldfriends are not his area. Anyway, regardless of whatever Sherlock's sexuality is, Mycroft's attempt is to blindside him, without expecting repercussions.

Mycroft: All lives end. All hearts are broken. Caring is not an advantage. Sherlock.

He doesn't talk about familial love here. He's talking about Sherlock's interest in Irene Adler. He gives advice over feelings, well against them, but still. Does he seem to be talking from experience? I would say so.

Also, let's take all of these out of the equation and let's focus on the more important part of it.

Mycroft think he's better than everyone due to his intelligence. He takes great pride in his control, he wants to control those around him, he wants those around him to do as he says. He has removed himself from any kind of emotional connection and with that physical as well. As part of extending his control.

Say he's asexual or aromantic by nature. That means that he hasn't really controlled anything about himself then, has he? He hasn't removed himself out of anything. He was just made this way. It's not strength of character, or a power to control his own needs.

And if he hasn't done anything to control himself, the idea that he wants to control others makes him a different kind of character...
