arya really just cut that white cloak to shreds with one line lol the kingsguard arent worth shit. if they can't even be relied upon to uphold their sworn oath to defend their own king why uphold their other oaths of knighthood to defend the weak, the innocents, women, children, ect? they won't and they don't. they aren't there to help arya. they are literally there to arrest her. and if they had captured her they wouldve harmed her.

when they first arrived arya almost falls for the kingsguard's illusion of authority as they claim to be there on her father's behalf, but syrio holds her back. this gives arya the chance to remember that they are no allies of hers. they are not her fathers men. they are not even guaranteed to be the king's men - whoever the king may be (arya's not even aware of it yet but thats joffrey, in this scene, and he is no friend of hers) at their core the kingsguard are hired thugs and arya cannot trust them.

I love you slow and deliberate story telling that let's us really take in everything that the world has already lost before it loses everything else.

I love you heartachingly relatable main character who craves the sense of community you can find in the most mundane places

I love you running theme of kindness persevering even when the world is going to end because it is always possible to choose to be kind.

I love you constant reminder that if you rush to do everything before you die, then you won't be able to stop and soak it all in and when those moments become memories they will feel so fleeting but the small moments spent with people who you just like being around will sink into your bones if you let it.

I love you message of how connection and love is so so cruel when you know you'll lose it soon but you can't help but make those connections anyway because that sorrow only proves you loved and were loved so much that it was worth the pain.

here's something i realized

one of the primary joycon texts is said to be at least 40 years old, right? we know kevin wrote this text while he was in the dow, so the question becomes is this "40 years" in dow time or nv time?

darryl was 10 when he became an official congregation member. if the text were 40 dow years old that would make it only 4 nv years old, making the joycon too young to have cared for darryl.

that means kevin brought this text back to desert bluffs 40 nv years ago. he started preaching about worship of the smiling god 40 years ago.

you know what else happened 40 years ago?

Night Vale, today is the birthday of Leonard Burton. Many of you are too young to remember Leonard. He was my mentor, my friend, and my predecessor at this radio station. I watched him die nearly 40 years ago right outside this very radio station on Mesa Boulevard, when a cargo truck ran him over.
