Bird in Paradise
Keigo Takami (Hawks) Fanfic – Bird in Paradise (fluff)
Tumblr media
Your beau had been neglecting you for almost a month now. He’s been using his busy pro-hero schedule as an excuse. But you bought every one of them, despite how disappointed you are. Hawks is not that clingy, but during this time of the year he’d always be distant. Nowadays, he always came home late or he doesn’t even come home for days at all. You decided to text him and see what he’s up to. But he hasn’t even replied to your last message. It was delivered but not seen. Maybe he’s already dead. You laughed at the thought of it. Oh- maybe he really was. You got off the messaging app and opened twitter, you thought maybe he’s trending. Your eyes fished for #ripHawks but there was none. Then something got you even more upset (yes more upsetting than the thought of him dead), the hashtag saying #hawksxmiruko. You checked the hashtag and found pics of them together, Miruko’s arm on Keigo’s shoulder and vice versa. The tweets said what good couple they made. It made your flames ignite. Your relationship with Hawks isn’t known by the public. Although, it was a mutual agreement. You were a pro-hero, but you didn’t want to be known. You were in the top 50, but standing didn’t matter to you since you didn’t want your hero achievements be known. Let alone your relationship with the no 2 hero be known to the public. It was risky. Too risky to be recognized by him. By your father. The no 1 hero. You did not want to reunite with the abusive scum. You’ve struggled enough in the streets after running away from home along with your twin, who chose to be a villain. But that’s another story.
Going back to knowing about what your birdman was doing, you scrolled further and found pictures of him goofing around with his fans. “So this is what you call hero work? Bitch can’t even bother to send me a reply.” You thought. You finished your night patrol and went home. You’ve showered, cooked dinner, watched a movie and all. It’s already past midnight, but it was only another night spent on waiting for nothing. Hawks didn’t come home still. And it made you more upset. As if you weren’t already so upset since the past few days.
Morning came and there still was no sign of Hawks in your apartment. Then came a knocking on your door. Readying the emotionless façade and the silent treatment you’re going to pull off for a week, you opened your door thinking it was Keigo. But to your dismay, it was a smiling Miruko. Great. Day ruined.
She let herself in like she normally did and sat herself on the counter. “Calm down”, you told yourself. “She’s just a colleague.” You kid yourself once more.
“What is it Miruko?”
“Damn you ain’t wearin’ a bra (y/n)-chan. Hot. If u weren’t hawks’ id-“
“Just get straight to the point.” you were impatient. You noticed you were getting more and more impatient nowadays.
“Chill, miss girl. You’re so cranky. I just kind of wanted to ask a favor.”
You groaned internally.
“I’d appreciate some help on this mission in Bali, here’s the plane ticket. Ok thanks girlie, gotta blast” And with that, she left before you could even say anything. Sighing, you picked the ticket up, and saw that it was supposed to leave this morning.
“What the fuck?”
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
You thought. You literally had one hour to pack your things, get ready, and head to the airport. You cursed the damn rabbit and went on with it.
Luckily, you made it on time just before the gates closed. You arrived and when you were about to head out of the airport you read a sign with your name on it. Takami (y/n). The man holding it looked at you and then back to what he held which seemed like a picture of yours before escorting you to a coaster. You were wary before getting in, but you knew how to fight anyway so fuck it. After god knows how many hours had passed, you found the van you’re in driving inside a secluded forest. High trees, you saw different animal species, birds of different colors of feathers, and various species of greenery. The trees in the area were so high, and the sun is already starting to go down. You’re getting more suspicious of the vehicle you’re in, of the guy and the bodyguard seated just in front of you as well. You waited for gases to come out of air vents, or someone to strangle you, or inject something in your body, but nothing happened.  Then the vehicle came to a halt.
“We’re here Ma’am.” The guy in front of you stated, and the bodyguard led you outside. That was when you were able to take a clear look of your surroundings. You gasped. You were looking at greenery that very much astonished you. The ombre glow of the sunset hit the forest perfectly that made it marvelous. You felt euphoric. You heard waves. Were you close to the sea? You followed the sound and you were faced by the front of a loft. It seemed like it was built on an edge of a cliff. You were standing on the edge of a cliff.
“Please go inside. He’s been waiting for you.” Were the last words the men who brought you here told you before drifting off and were already out of sight.
“He?” You said to yourself. You were curious of who was waiting for you. Must be the head of Miruko’s agency. But the only head at Miruko’s agency was Keigo. You laughed at yourself for thinking Miruko had another boss-
Wait. Keigo?
You ran into the house and searched for the man. But to your dismay, the last room you went to search had no one in it. No signs of the bird man. They bluffed. Maybe you were lured into this place by villains. But you didn’t care. You felt jetlag. Time was too precious to be spent over worrying in this paradise. Oh no, it still wasn’t paradise. There still was something missing. The love of your life.
You felt very tired so when you noticed the wonderful bed overlooking the sunset and the sea through a glass wall, noticing how the pillows and blankets were formed into somewhat like a nest, you let yourself fall into it. You found the nest very comfortable. Too comfortable, even. And it reminded you of the last time you cuddled with your red-winged angel. The sheets beneath you felt and smelled familiar. It brought you nostalgia. It smelled like home. It smelled like-
Keigo.
Oh no. You’re missing the man again. Nonetheless, you relaxed yourself and tried to imagine him being there with you, then you felt something tickle your nose. You scratched the itch away. But it’s not leaving. You opened your eyes and only to be shocked by-
a red feather dancing in front of you. Could it be?
You looked up and found a half-naked blonde with golden eyes, trailed by a pair of scarlet wings on his back, perched on the wooden plank in the ceiling.
“Keigo!!!” you called out his name as you felt hot tears stream down the sides of your face. You don’t exactly know why you cried. Maybe because he was finally in front of you after missing him so much, but it was clear to you that you felt so happy. Now you are finally able to call this place paradise.
He chuckled while he got down and sat on the bed, sitting you up.
“You found me baby bird. HAHAHA good job.” He said while taking you in his arms.
“What are you doing here?” You sniffled.
“I am a part of this mission of yours.” He said, shrugging.
You noticed his scent, it was stronger and bolder. Nails extra sharp. And wings extra flappy. All signs of his avian side going into breeding season.
Then it struck you. it was spring. That explained the nest covered with his scent. And that’s why he’s been busying himself with work, and spending lesser time with you. It was THAT time of the year.
“I can’t run away from you anymore, I can’t control myself anymore...” he took a whiff of you, and put his chin on the top of your head, tightening the hug “I can’t let you deal with me avoiding you during this month every year, and as I grow closer to you, I can’t handle the pain of you not being by my side during this season. I need you to be with me always. Marry me.”
More tears streamed down your face as you were only able to listen to his heartbeat, unable to find your words. So you did the first thing you could think of; pull him into a kiss.
He pulled away, chuckled, pulled out a diamond ring with a feather engraved inside of it from his pocket, then asked one more time. “Mon Angel, will you be with me… for the rest of our lives?”
You finally found your words.
(It’s for you to decide. ;)))

Scars {Maria Hill x Reader Oneshot}
Requested by: Anonymous Wordcount: 3266 Summary: You’re afraid of your own fire powers; Maria, however, is not, even when you do accidentally burn a house down. Notes: Swearing; Minor Death
You were careful to never leave your hands, or your arms, exposed to others. The SHIELD uniform did a good job of that, covering your body like another skin, and then the gloves which slipped over your fingers smoothly. They had heat sensors wired inside of the fabric that helped to tell your body temperature, particularly if you were heating up. It warned you by shining lights inside, changing the color of the glove as a warning that you were getting too heated. Dangerous things could happen when that was the case. It was a handy little suit that they gave you, full of such technological innovations. If only other aspects of your life were as helpful; like if only you had powers that were more useful than accidentally starting forest fires, or burning marshmallows when attempting to make smores.
Tumblr media
At least the carrier that you worked on, alongside many other agents, wasn’t made of wood and timber, but rather many different types of metal which didn’t easily melt. You weren’t considered a total liability. SHIELD, Nick Fury in particular, believed that your brain was better than your powers, and wanted you to work by his side, as his third in command, just in case something was to happen to Maria Hill.
Ahh, Maria. She was one of the reasons why you wished life could be just a little bit simpler. If all you had to worry about was SHIELD’s disapproval of employees dating one another. Where the worst thing that could happen was getting fired if you were caught sneaking around during off-shift hours. You were in love with the woman, and had been since you met her. God, she was absolutely beautiful, even though she held the same stern facial expression ninety percent of the time. But occasionally, if you caught her in a good moment, she would smile or she would laugh and it was like a field of butterflies on an already beautiful day.
“There you are!” A loud voice said, coming to you from across the hallway. You looked up to see Nick Fury walking towards you, and you instantly straightened up your posture, going from daydreaming to work mode. “I wanted you in the control room five minutes ago!”
“Yes sir. Sorry sir,” You said, chasticizing yourself. There were many rules on board the aircaft, but there was one that was especially important. Always, always, always be on time when Nick Fury wanted you somewhere. You strode beside him, small steps, hands by your side. Your eyes always seemed to wander to them, making sure that they were the color that they were supposed to be. “Is there anything in particular you needed me for, Sir?”
“There’s a mission that I need you and Maria to do for me.”
-
The terrain under the vehicle was far from easy to drive on, and the jeep kept bumping you around. You had to hold on tight to the exterior in order to keep yourself from getting hurt. How Maria was handling it, while driving, was beyond you. A large bump nearly set you falling from the seat, seatbelt be damned. “Now this is what I call off-roading,” You muttered to yourself, but Maria’s keen ears caught you.
“You don’t know the half of it,” She said, eyes forward. “Hold on-” She put her arm out, catching you in the chest as you went over what must have been an ancient log or something, since it broke under the wheels and sent the jeep careening forward. You fell back with a deep breath against the seat.
“Thanks,” You said, taking note of the faint yellow glow coming from your gloves. It was far from orange, so you felt that you were safe from exploding, but you weren’t sure how much more stress that you could take. Being around so many flammable trees didn’t help your nerves in the slightest. “Do you know how much further until we hit a road again?”
“Another minute, I can see it from here,” Maria said. Her tone gave you a hint, and you held onto the door for dear life as the vehicle roared towards the asphalt, did a quick u-turn with the tires squealing and protesting all the way, then rushed forward. Once you were on smooth ground, you were able to relax once more, and put your hands onto your lap.
Tumblr media
“You should be a stunt driver in movies if SHIELD doesn’t work out for you,” You said, looking out the window at the jungle that you had come out of. That made Maria laugh, just a single time, then go back to concentrating on the road. Her hair had come out of the bun that she had put it in before driving, and was hanging in her face, framing it wonderfully. She pushed it out of her face, sweat helping to make it stick back.
Yeah, you were smitten.
Since you were on a steady road now, heading towards the destination, you brought out your tablet and went through the mission details again. You were to bring in someone who had done a number of things to violate SHIELD’s protocol. A disgruntled former employee, who had been caught pulling pranks, which was a serious waste of resources. The guy had apparently been spilling secrets, out of date secrets but confidential none-the-less, to criminals who were willing to pay for that sort of information. Blueprints of old carriers, inventories, any weak spots that SHIELD might have.
The guy was clearly an idiot. He was hiding out in Peru, thinking that would keep him safe. As if the renowned SHIELD wouldn’t be able to track him down easier than finding a fly in a web. At least he was in the lowlands, rather than up high. Making the climb up to Macchu Pichu was on your bucketlist, but not like this.
“Obviously, the more alive the guy is the better,” You said, reading about how he was wanted dead or alive. You didn’t like to hurt people unless it was necessary. “Though how he’s still alive is beyond me. Keeping companies with war criminals is a dangerous business.”
“They’re just using him until he has nothing more to give. Then they’ll kill him. Hardly seems worth saving.”
“Everyone deserves a second chance, Maria,” You said, avoiding looking at her. Instead, you kept your eyes on the tablet, opening up the map to see how far it was to your destination. She would know what you meant. She knew why you kept yourself emotionally unavailable despite the strong feelings between the two of you. She knew why you wore the gloves at all times. Because as long as you were safe, you were worth the second chance that SHIELD had given you.
“Not everyone,” She stated. She pressed her foot down on the gas pedal and the Jeep roared in response, speeding you to your destination. You bit down on your lip, seeing the yellow in your gloves glow all the brighter.
-
With searing red hands, the gloves having burnt off by now, you pushed Maria out of the path of the falling ceiling. You were beyond the thought of hurting her, just making sure that she didn’t get killed was enough for you right now. It was getting harder to breathe, even to you, so it must have been nearly impossible for her.
A lot of people talk about the way that fire feels, how the warmth surrounds and it suffocates. They never talk about the way that it smells. It wasn’t pleasant, like a campfire, though a lot of wood was burning around them right now. The Cabana paradise that the traitor had fled to had a lot of wooden insides, but brick walls with insulation inside, for hurricanes were popular in this region. The smell of burnt plastic, of hair burning on exposed skin, it was heavy, and overbearing.
Maria coughed as she got back up from where you had pushed her, but didn’t hesitate for a moment to ask what you were doing. She knew you. She knew that you loved her, and that you would do nothing to harm her on purpose. As the ceiling fell down behind her, you managed to burn it into ash, causing it to look like a black snow that landed on your shoulders. Your hands were pure white, like the hottest flames, for that was what was coming out of them. You could destroy the whole building if you had wanted to, but that was not your intention coming into this house.
When you arrived a half hour earlier, you played dumb. Just two girls who were out and about on a beach vacation. The guy, seeing right through it, invited you in nonetheless. He couldn’t help but take his chances to brag about getting away with everything, about how he knew that you were coming for him, about how he was going to make you regret coming here.
You exchanged looks with Maria. Men and their bragging monologues. You were anticipating this, counting on it in fact. You played scared as he tied you down to a chair, though you could easily burn through the ropes. Maria did the same, but stated that she was going to report him to Nick Fury, and oh boy, would he be in trouble then. The perp laughed right in her face. “Oh, you won’t be talking to Fury ever again,” He gloated.
The plan was to wait until he made a further move. Let him implicate himself even further. The speaker inside of your hoodie was recording everything. It would be played at his trial and he’d get sentenced to life in a dirty prison.
But then something happened that got rid of the plan entirely. A knock on the door. Neither you, nor Maria, were expecting any sort of backup since this was meant to be an easy but important job. You looked at one another again, not with annoyance, but with confusion.
“I’ll be right back, don’t you move,” The perp said, then laughed as if he thought that it was funny. He turned his back on you, which was never a good idea. And considering that you were off of the beaten path, it was a bad idea for him to get the door since it seemed unlikely to be a pizza deliveryman.
You thought of something infuriating. You thought about how you were never going to be able to touch, or to kiss Maria, in the way that you wanted, all because of these stupid powers. And that caused enough heat for you to be able to burn through the ropes, and get to your feet in the stealthiest way that SHIELD had taught you. You hid behind the wall, peering out towards the front door where the perp stood, unlocking it, then opening it.
He was greeted with a bullet to the head.
It was an unexpected sound, and made you jump, which of course, triggered your powers. You began to feel your hand growing warm, and your glove was nearly burned off by the time the body hit the floor. You held your hand out to shoot fire at the gunman, but hit the wooden door instead, which started to burn. “Shit!” You swore, looking back to see Maria escape from her own constraints and get to her feet, pulling her gun out. “Come on, let’s find a back way out, we might be able to catch him still.”
Maria nodded, then turned to go through the kitchen to see if there was a back way. She then returned then shook her head. You really fucked this one up, since the flames were spreading towards the cheap curtains. Everything would be going up in smoke within a few minutes. Given the wooden and polyester furniture, you would guess you had maybe ten minutes.
You went over to the body, ignoring the heat of the door. You could handle it without getting burned. It was all a part of your ‘gift’, or mutation as you called it. The shot was perfect, right through the forehead. The victim didn’t even have the chance to be surprised. He died with a smile on his face. You took a picture with your phone, which sent it right to SHIELD, then called in a potential SOS. It meant that someone would be keeping an eye on your situation, and send in help if necessary. It was starting to seem necessary.
Maria was kicking at one of the windows in the living room, but it was screwed shut, and the glass wasn’t cracking. “So they spend the money on bulletproof glass, but nothing else?” She complained, pushing her hair out of her face once more. If it wasn’t such a dangerous situation, it would be hot. But pay attention to the task. The door was a pillar of fire, going up to the ceiling. It was starting to spread up there, with it warping. Smoke was coming out in plumes. If you didn’t do something soon, you were going to die in here. You sent out the SOS.
Maria came to your side, and crouched down where the air wasn’t as smoke filled, and you joined her. It was then that you looked up and heard the cracking of the ceiling. That was when you used your bare hands to push Maria out of the way. She sprawled on the ground, looked at you in surprise, then got up, slowly.
“Thanks,” She said, then started to cough as the smoke affected her. “We’re going to have to try to go through the doorway, there’s no other way.”
You nodded, knowing that she was right, as scary as it was. And you knew that there was only going to be one way that you were both going to get out of here alive. So you started to do it without thinking or worrying about how Maria was going to react.
Bare hands were the only option that you had. You grabbed onto her wrist, pulled her against your chest, and made yourself as big as you possibly could be by spreading out your arms. By doing this, and pushing her forward with your body, you went through the flaming doorway and out into the fresh air, taking all of the damage from the fire around you. It burnt through your clothes, and affected your skin, though you couldn’t feel it much. You still had the potential of infections though, and it was a huge risk.
You rolled onto the ground after getting out, doing the old ‘stop, drop, and roll’ technique that you learned in elementary school. Maria was beside you, slapping out some of the leftover flames. Now that - that, you could feel.
Something flew over head, spilling gallons of water over the fire that you had started. The fire that put you and more importantly, Maria in danger. You sat up after being sure that you were no longer on fire, with tears in your eyes. You fucked this up completely. The killer was who-knows-where and you had no clues. You hadn’t even been able to see a face. If you had aimed properly, if you had gone for your gun instead of a fireball, you might have caught him. You pulled your knees up against your chest and rested your head on them in a fetal position, trying not to fully cry out of frustration.
“It’s okay,” Maria said in a voice that she very rarely used. One of comfort. One of compassion. You looked at her out of the corner of your eye and saw that she was holding a hand over her arm. Right where you had pushed her to get her out of the way of the falling ceiling.
“Did I hurt you?” You asked, feeling the guilt shower over you once more. You wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if you marked her like this.
“It’s nothing. I’m more worried about you,” She said, circling around you to take in the extent of the damage. “It’s not so bad. You won’t need skin grafts.”
“Thank Thor for that, I don’t want to go through that again,” You mumbled. “I showed you mine, now show me yours.”
Maria stared at you, hard enough for you to feel like she was cutting through you like a damn boulder. She clearly didn’t want to move her hand away, but she did slowly. You could see the imprint of your hand seared against her skin. “Oh shit. Oh fuck, Maria, I’m so sorry-”
“Don’t apologize,” She said, sharply. “You saved my life in there. This is just a scar that proves your love to me.”
Tumblr media
Your breath caught in your throat. You knew that she knew about your feelings, and that you would do anything to save  her, hence why Fury often put you on missions together. “It sounds abusive when you put it that way.”
“It’s not.” Maria said. The heavy noise of a rotating propeller took over the calm landscape, as a helicopter hovered nearby, touching down to send out the medics and other officers. You didn’t have a chance to talk to Maria alone, since you were both rushed in and had to sit down to let the doctors take a look at your burns. You couldn’t stop watching her as she revealed the burn not only on her upper arm where you had pushed her, but on her wrist where you had grabbed her. Two perfect hand-shaped burns, on her forever.
She didn’t avoid looking at you. As soon as you were both cleared for flight to be taken back to SHIELD headquarters for further assessment, she sat beside you, strapped in tight to the seat. “Do not feel guilty,” She ordered.
“That’s not something you can just command someone to do,” You retorted back, hiding your hands in the pocket of your sweater. Somehow, it had retained enough fabric to stay on, though most of the back was destroyed. It was a shame, this was a nice sweater, bought for you by the much-loved Coulson.
“Well, I’m commanding it anyway. As your superior officer, I am ordering you to not feel guilty, because by doing this small amount of damage, you saved me. There was no other way. I will be putting that in my report.”
Professional as always. You rolled your eyes, then leaned back against the seat. You were heavily bandaged by the medics so as not to bother the burns until they could be looked at in a more sterile environment. “Now do you understand why we can’t be together?” You asked, just loud enough for Maria to hear.
“No,” She said, staring straight ahead. “I can handle a few burns, y/l/n. Can you?”
It was enough to make you think on the ride back to base. You couldn’t handle the thought of hurting her, you were barely coping with the reality of it all. But Maria remained as cool and as calm as ever.
You were having second thoughts about denying her now; perhaps her strength was beginning to rub off on you.

I’ll never forget how close we got, all the inside jokes, Fluff’s riddles, Paulina’s brothers, Saeyonic, Shrekran and, of course, SO much budget elixir! Honestly, thank you mods for organizing this amazing project and thank you to all the contributors who helped make it a big family!
But anyway, without further ado, here’s the actual fic😅I hope you like it!
***
Saeran had always tried to pay attention to people’s eyes. It was an old saying he had heard once, that the eyes were the windows to the soul, and he always made sure to observe them when someone spoke. Those glassy surfaces could unravel intentions, contradicting lying lips and baring themselves true. They told stories better than words ever could.
But as he held your hand in his, tracing all the lines and details he’d come to know so well, he couldn’t help but think the saying to be untrue. Your eyes were closed now, but he could still read you through the palm of your hand as if it were his favorite book.  A thousand times he had done this, and a thousand different details and buried memories he’d discovered.
“We’ll find him.” You sat beside him as his fingers furiously typed, eyes glued to the screen as if afraid that even a blink might make him miss a crucial detail. “I can see how worried you are.”
He stopped typing, leaning back against his chair and closing his eyes, his mind barely being able to keep up with itself. The familiar black and green of the screen now had critical roles in not only his life, but yours and that of his own brother’s. He couldn’t recall the last time his twin occupied his mind with worried thoughts instead of venomous ones.
“It feels strange,” He admitted after a long moment of trying to string his thoughts together. “Not even a day ago I could barely even say his name, and now…” He looked down at his hands, remembering how much smaller they were last time they held Saeyoung’s, “Now he’s all I can think about.”
“We’ll find him.” You repeated, attempting to give him a warm smile even though his eyes were fixated on his hands.
“I couldn’t find him before.” He pointed out, a frown shadowing his features.
Reaching for his hands, you admired how much larger and slender they were compared to yours as you cupped them, “But you’re not alone now. You’ve got me, you’ve got us.”
His eyes darted from your joined hands to your eyes. He wondered if Ray had felt the same rising warmth and almost childlike wonder as you ran your thumb over his knuckle. He wondered if anyone had ever felt the way he was feeling right now, something too great for flower breeds or syllables to ever convey.
“You are not alone, Saeran.”
It had quite possibly been one of the most stressful nights of Saeran’s life up until then. Not the hellish nights he spent with his mother nor the painful hours the elixir spent destroying his body from the inside even came close to how he felt trying to protect you and locate his missing brother. But, he realized, it would have truly been a nightmare without you there, constantly by his side and reminding him time and time again of those five words.
He ran his hand along your wrist, softly as if not trying to wake you up. He stopped at the base of your thumb, where black ink contrasted against your pale skin in the shape of a small sun. His lips tugged upwards as he remembered how hard you squeezed his hand as the needle met your skin, your eyes screwed shut.
The pain erupting from the base of your thumb meant that it was now too late to back out. You had never really wanted a tattoo before, fear of regretting it later being greater than your desire to get one. But something about having a reminder of this day, the first trip you took together, made you doubt any sort of future regrets. The memory of how his eyes lit up when he saw the waves gently bathing the shore, his toes wiggling and burying themselves in the sand was something you wanted imprinted on your skin forever.
“It feels so permanent.” You commented, bringing your newly inked skin closer to your eyes so you could examine it. Saeran glanced at it as well, getting used to yet another new detail of you.
Permanent. It had been a word so foreign to him, he often wondered what it meant. It had been thrown around a lot in his life, but nothing had been, nothing had ever felt eternal. Nothing had actually felt like forever to him. He knew that the world was an ever-changing place, promises of forever meaning nothing since nobody could predict the future. The Sun would eventually swallow the Earth and the Universe would collapse in itself, so nothing was truly everlasting.  Not the company of his brother, not the Paradise he once believed to be eternal and not the tattoo that once poisoned his skin as a cruel reminder of his past mistakes. Hell, not even his own hair color stayed the same.
But looking at you lying next to him, specks of sand dotting your chocolate hair and eyes now amber with the rays of sunset, he began to understand.
“That’s why they call it a permanent tattoo.” He remarked with a grin on his lips.
You gave him a soft chuckle, nudging his side with your elbow, “I know that.”
You turned to lie on your side, facing him. Bringing up your hand to caress his arms, you wondered out loud whether he had felt the same about his own tattoo. The laser had gotten rid of most of the black swirls and lines on his skin, but you could still tell it had once been there. To him, the marks that were just a tone lighter than the rest of him were nothing but a bitter reminder of his mistakes, of the painful past he tried daily to forget.
But to you, it was a sign of progression, how far he had gotten and how much he was able to overcome.
“I don’t think I gave it much thought,” he admitted, brushing a few strands of hair from your eyes, then resting his hand on your cheek, “Nothing felt real back then… it was as if there was no consequence to what I did.”
Your fingers continued to trace the white lines, all the way up to his shoulder, mesmerized by how soft his skin felt under the pads of your thumb, despite everything he had been through.
“It’s ugly, isn’t it?” He murmured, gaze falling from your eyes to the sandy ground you two were lying upon.
Frowning, you gave his arm a slight squeeze, “Nothing about you is ugly, Sae.”
The scar was barely visible now, but his eyes still darted straight over to it whenever he stood in front of a mirror. The phantom feeling of your hands caressing it from the sudden memory made him squeeze your palm tighter.
He wasn’t the only one with a scar.
There was a small patch of skin along the palm of your hand which contrasted with the rest. He couldn’t recall what the fight had been about, but the harsh words exchanged and spilt tears were imprinted on his mind.
“You know what, just forget it,” You huffed, turning away from him to make your way towards the door, “Just forget it.”
He grabbed your wrist, a frantic attempt to keep you from getting further away, “I can’t just forget it, MC. Tell me what you meant by that. Tell me what you meant by ‘taking a break’.”
“I meant exactly what it sounds like.” You spat, forcefully removing your wrist from his touch. It had been the first time you two had ever shared such barbed words, and your rejection stung him more than he could have imagined.
Desperation overcame him, his vision blurring as he watched you pick up a small bag and head towards the door. You couldn’t leave him, not you. Not when everyone is his life had already done so. The contracting of his chest was painfully familiar, although he hadn’t felt it ever since meeting you. Was he cursed to live with a heavy heart whenever you weren’t around?
It was all so sudden. One moment he wordlessly watched you walk away, and the next you were crouching down beside him, the shards of glass he had apparently broken seconds before looking uncannily like how his heart felt.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean-”
“It’s okay,” despite the anger you previously felt towards your boyfriend, you managed to smile, “It was an accident, it’s fine. I’ll clean this up, okay?”
He remembered the oozing of red from your hand as if it had happened just yesterday. Saeran blamed himself harshly for the deep cut in your hand, the scar that remained across your skin even years later screamed at him that it was his fault. Your soothing words helped him realize that it was an accident, that it could have happened with anyone, but he couldn’t get over the fact that it was him who lost control and knocked over the vase in a fit of rage. Had you been with anyone else, this would never have happened, and it was a mystery to Saeran how you had agreed to spend the rest of your life with someone who couldn’t even keep his temper under control.
Although, by your wedding day, Saeran hardly had any traces of his malicious past left in him. He played with the ring on your finger, turning it until the words engraved on it faced him, Hey, there.
He was beyond nervous as he stared at his reflection, fiddling with his tie while trying to get it straight. Despite the reassuring words from his friends, the cramped knot in his stomach made him doubt he’d ever eat again. Were you going to notice how sweaty his hands were? What if he said the wrong thing? He wondered, was there even a right thing to say?
But upon taking in the sight of you at the end of the aisle, his feet subconsciously taking him towards the girl in the dazzling white gown, Saeran forgot all his worries and even his own damn name. For the first time, the many eyes of the spectators didn’t matter to him.
The walk to you felt eternal but all the same, he forgot himself and when he came to, he was already standing in front of you. You gazed at him up and down, taking in how breathtakingly beautiful he was. You couldn’t tell how long it had been until one of you broke the silence, and unsure of what to say, Saeran breathed, “Hey, there’.
A smile stretched on your lips, “Hey, there.”
While he cursed himself for weeks after saying such ridiculous and meaningless first words as your husband, you thought it was endearing.
“Don’t worry,” You assured him, “First words don’t really matter. Last words, though...I wonder what mine will be.”
“I don’t ever want to think about that.” He shuttered off the thought, thinking of how long you two had and how many words were still  left to be shared.
Had you known back then?
Saeran wondered if your words back then were some sort of omen, a dark prediction of the painfully near future.
Had you known that you were sick when you spoke those words?
He had forgotten to pay attention to your last words, always hoping that there would be more to leave your lips. But as your heartbeat staled and your pulse weakened, his hoping came to an agonizing end, the doctors had said as much. The skin of your hand he adored so much was now impaled with tubes, and when he squeezed your hand, you didn’t squeeze back.
“Hey, there.” He mumbled, hopelessly hoping that your eyes would flutter open, at least just once more so he could say goodbye. Just once more so his heart could be at ease, even for just a few moments before it was completely torn apart. But when the last sigh escaped your lips, your hand going limp in his and the beeping of the machine stilling, the memories you two shared would now only be remembered by him, the feeling of mutual love now solely felt by him.
He had never believed in souls, but now it felt as if half of his was ripped away, and Saeran had never felt pain greater than this.

Happiness Overload Chapter Thirty-Two
Needle slid in. Rough armor, soft skin. Duly noted.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--” Erupted from the soldier's mouth.
My head tilted.
“Why do you scream?” I leaned forward, inquisitive.
No response. Skin shifted to a beautiful shade of green. Teal, or something akin to it. Some may protest that teal is more of a shade of blue, but it is a shade nonetheless.
“I can imagine such a procedure would be painful, yes,” I noted. “I remember when I injected myself. I thought I had been given the lethal injection, but soon, I felt rejuvenated.”
Soldier screamed further, gasped, then made seething sounds. I took note of each one, though lacking in a note pad, my memory was all the record I needed.
“Rejoice, man! You are proof that miracles can happen! Look at this,” I pointed to my arm, or my multitude of mini hands. The soldier croaked, puffed his cheek, and looked over. It was beginning. “Yes, you may find it odd, but this is the beauty of becoming part axolotl! Who knows what you, nay, what the others may become!”
Upon opening his mouth, the soldier spoke:
“Wow! I have GOT to tell the others!”
I nodded. “You will, you will.” I handed him the syringe. “I want you to spread this gift to the others.”
I released him and slid back into the shadows of the laboratory. Multiple soldiers ran in, the alarm having been alerted to Polo and I's presence. Polo was long gone, through the vents. I, on the other hand, was about to witness the birth of the next step for humanity.
As they ran in and stormed the place, before they could notice me, my acquired froggy friend lunged at one of them and took off their helmet and plunged the syringe into their fellow's neck.
Shriek. Next was the other two, which after you had seen it in action the first time, it became less exciting; still, the transformation never got tiresome. I relished in the rebirths of these fine men.
Once the scene had played its course, I stepped out to greet all of them.
“Greetings. You may call me Gumby.” I handed each of them their own set of syringes. “Resume your duties of protecting the secrets of these halls, but do so while birthing more amphibians!”
They all puffed their cheeks and croaked in agreement. I watched as they put their helmets back on and crept back outside of the lab.
Such an accomplishment before my eyes, it was almost enough to make me weep. But as a serious researcher, I am above such novelties.
Evils of being awake, the desire to chew on a pillow. Had it not been for the errors of the pleasure center of the brain, I would have choked on cotton or down feathers by now. Instead, I had to build them, package them, send them away. So grueling. So torturous.
Wave goodbye, every day. Whimper.
Some salt in the sky, a twinkle felt. Noticed a faint whiff of freedom, though my coworkers seemed immune. Out on the assembly line, I gorged myself on pillow fluff.
Euphoria was here. I could smell it in the air. That one smell I wasn't allowed to smell, but everyone else could; the scent of happiness.
My body craved it. My mind craved it. My shadow...
Each step, I ran my fingers through the metallic walls.
“Oh, if you could appear before me right now, what image would you choose?”
I wanted to know what image I had in my mind, but the only images were the ones others had seen. They were not images that would have satisfied me.
Do I have to wait until after I die to be cremated? Impatience. Intricate, insecurities. When the group came over, some of them began to chat, some of them took a dip into some salsa – pico de gallo. One dipped twice. Same chip. When one friend smoked...
Lungs. What do they do again? Cough, every night. Since I didn't know when. Sometime ago.
Water depleted. Supply ran dry. To be the same...
Smoke, ash. To be one of them. Many little dust particles. When I watched those friends, when we sat at the bonfire, I made my wish. Residual ash from the flame, to be part of it. Alive, and, well, a part of the process.
Entire body was turned to ash. So were the friends. We were most alive, in a fireside chat.
Several truths and misconceptions, lies and questions that some may have pointed out, had they the opportunity to dissect my thoughts. Those precious thoughts.
Let's begin with the first one: that there is no cellular range in such a remote location. That all and any signals would be jammed, blocked, intercepted. Yes. Very good. We, Lilypad, had considered this, so we brought miniature tower boxes with us and scramble the tracking so anyone hoping to intercept our call would have been left confused and disappointed. So when I called the World Wildlife Foundation, the group itself was in no danger. Gay amphibious humanoids and its allies that make up Lilypad are all high in intelligence. So of course, as seasoned hackers, we would also be seasoned engineers.
Second of all, the location and purpose: Groom Lake, or as its more common to call, Area 51 – believed to be called such due to an Atomic Energy Commission numbering grid. Whether or not this was true doesn't matter much. Call it Paradise Ranch, call it Hidden Valley for what little difference it made.
What really mattered was the purpose – originally a testing ground for the CIA for the U-2 plane, its ownership was later handed over to the US air force for the purpose of crafting other experimental air crafts which continued to this day. Yes, that part was true, to an extent. There have also been those who believe beings from other planets resided within the facility and others would argue that such a notion was preposterous. Rest assured to the naysayers, that part was false, to an extent.
It was of my experience that experimental weaponry of all kind has been built and tested. Beginning with vehicles, whether air, land, or sea, it didn't matter. Then it expanded – not all at once, but funding and nudges from my former employer, The Flashbulb, helped pull things along (not to say that the CIA and US military wasn't already part of The Flashbulb, but such direct involvement was a large shift) – biological weaponry in the form of chemical agents, toxins to fill the air, genetic experiments (which I am proud to say I made myself a test subject of), armor for soldiers, technological advances that would address a potential rise in an unstoppable force of soldiers designed with the sole purpose of subjugating those who did not fall in line.
All of what I just described has been what the facility functioned as at one point or another. At the present, it's been taken over as a whole by the ETNA corporation and the entire structure shifted and changed at a constant rate due to the desires of Etna, the artificial leader of The Flashbulb's Morale Department. Etna itself, herself, has become one with the facility. The very walls, the technology, the weaponry, they all could change at a moment's notice, if Etna so wills it.
I took my strides out of the laboratory, already taken stock of what I needed, and wandered into the halls, where I continued to be lost in thought of the history of where I happened to be.
“That's no good,” I noticed as I made the mistake of stepping on a soldier lying on the ground, helmet off. Pale green skin told me what I needed to know. “Someone had killed one of my babies.”
I shook my head and walked off. Not just one, but three.
“Whoever did this, I pray they get their due. As for you three, at the least, I hope you were able to spread our gift with others before your departure from this world.”
I walked on. Somewhere, a better view would present itself. I wanted to see crowds, nay, rows and rows, lined up. Their eyes would stare up at me and I would smile. To bring my dream to life, I needed the right topography.
Etna, if you would so kindly. Make it happen.
However much she fancied herself a god, I had my doubts she could listen in on my thoughts. Or perhaps, with the angel she had fused herself, the facility, and all of its soldiers with, she just may have. See, Euphoria was not a man-made creation. While the scientific side of me reels at the thought of calling anything an 'angel', a better term may be 'alien' or 'cosmic entity', which is just what the fanatics would love to hear. Euphoria was real, and she was not of this earth.
Frozen pea hailstorm bit the head of me. Hunger struck upon stomach for days, shelter not given unto. Dwelt sidewalks, dwellings. Under bridges, overpasses, benches, nomadic. Caught some grass at a park. Bit off some tree bark. Hunger so dire. Desire.
Rained down, my memory – sign of joy. Ode to thee.
Mother used to make the best frozen peas. Children sat at dinner table, hands raised high. One of them was I. Cannot remember the rest. Such a fond nostalgia, trip down a lane taken.
Hail of frozen peas, velocity punctured skin off of facial structure. Rest of body. Still, tongue stuck out, swallow some. Smiled, shed tears, blood ran from exposed flesh. Weak and feeble, no, strong. Memory so pleasant. Tasted of fondness.
Even in decay from the favorite meal, warmth could be found from the frozen.
Best memory was the last.
Life wasn't always like this; just a couple days ago, in fact, life was normal. Or, as normal as a life could be. Cold paradise we lived in, this city. For at least three years now, the ETNA Corporation had bestowed our city with great inventions, pioneering us from a no-name metropolis to something greater. However, just the other day, a chain reaction started.
No one knows the root cause, but it spread like a virus. People throwing themselves into traffic, the very roads themselves crumbling, traffic lights changing color and becoming strobe lights, just to name a few things. While there could be no logical explanation, a quarantine over the city was issued and the next thing I knew, we were all trapped.
Or, we were supposed to be. I overheard from some CDC agents that it shouldn't spread so long as they kept the city locked down, but I wasn't so sure about that. Nor was I so sure when a statement was released from the ETNA Corporation stating that the infection was due to a substance having infiltrated itself in their elevators and causing an adverse reaction in those who rode them. 'Those exposed to the elevators (as in simply been in them) were more at risk than those who had not used them, or seldom have used them' the statement had said.
I wasn't so sure about that because I think it had affected (affected? Infected?) me as well. Even now, I thought I could feel its effects. The strong desire to...
I don't know what. My mind goes blank before coming to a conclusion. Best way to describe it would be a sugar rusk. Or drinking an entire pot of coffee in one sitting. High on cocaine. Complete manic energy. Except this high you don't come down from.
At least, that's what I would imagine. I'm not sure if that's how I'm feeling. There's just...this desire to be that way.
An object in motion stays in motion...
There was a friend I once knew, her name was Rick O'Shea. Or, her name was something else. It's been difficult to recall simple things. Or, her name could have been Beau Meringue. Or, it was one of the two, something in between. Or, her name was never important, just her presence.
She was overjoyed by the state of the city. How wonderful the elevators had been. Each time she took those trips, she described it as a new experience. The only reason I never rode on one of them was because I never liked venturing outside. Call it agoraphobia, or a strong social anxiety. Just the thought of being surrounded by others would have been enough to send me into a panic. I only felt like I could venture out when she was around.
When the city was quarantined, she was still overjoyed, much to my shock.
I told her how we should leave, how this city was destroying itself, how it seemed like everyone had become crazed and maddened by their own manic bliss. She shook her head in rapid motions, almost violent. She told me, “what is there to leave? Can't you feel it all around you? In the air, dolphins exiting your body. How you know you're right where you should be. These dolphins are here to help us.”
I begged, pleaded. She didn't look confused, but may as well. Even though I told her how it wasn't safe, how we could all die, this only made her smile widen. As if all she heard was good news and pleasant tunes. So, I concluded, I no longer had her. I would have to leave on my own.
Through careful analysis of my surroundings, I had escaped the city and as of last night, stowed myself away in a nearby motel. Where I will be soon, I only wish I had an answer.
I stood at the balcony, my gaze fixed downward at the marvelous sight: rows of soldiers, amphibious, lined up, synchronized and looking back at me. My dream was coming to light. As a collective, they took off their helmets, stared each other in their beady eyes, and stuck out their long, stringent tongues. Their tongues flapped against each other and flies descended from ventilation shafts, something I could not have anticipated, but also pleased me. Flies were caught, the soldiers having taken a break from licking each other.
With my arms outstretched, I addressed my audience:
“Rejoice! This is the ideal next step for humanity! Outsiders may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like!”
Tongues clapped into the air. Many of the tongues caught flies. All was well.
My next set of actions would become clear: descend from the rafters to join the crowd, be carried off with them, and we would rise up, ascend from this underground, and spread our joy to the rest of the world.
Before I could do any of that, I felt a hand clasp down on my shoulder.
“Good job, brother. I see you got your wish.”
Such kind words. I knew the one behind me speaking such words was smiling from cheek to cheek. It was just like him to do so. Yet I also know that such words carried malice.
“Have you come to take it away from me?”  I turned around, despite already knowing who was there. The tall figure, the shadow.
“Is that something I would do?” Marco laughed and released his grip on me.
“Have you come to kill my men?”
“I am glad, I mean that with sincerity. You gained your happiness without having to devour Euphoria. However, I still want to. Just to get a taste.”
“Is that what you came here for, then? Because if that's the case, I don't know where she is.”
“I have no need to kill your creation. You have been granted your wish, attained your happiness. I could never take that from you.”
“Then why are you here?”
He closed in and embraced me for a hug. His arms coiled and tightened around my back. It would seem his intention was to suffocate me. But in spite of the tightness, he didn't go far enough to do harm.
“She is everywhere. She is spreading her wings and giving everyone what they need.”
I struggled, but managed to reach into my pocket and pull out the syringe. I tried to stab it into him, inject him with the formula, make him subservient. Just to see what would happen. Just so he could no longer pose a threat.
But instead, the needle broke as I tried to push it into his skin. It never even made a mark.
“You think I betrayed you,” he spoke softly. “But that couldn't be further from the truth. See, I brought you here so you could get what you wanted and now you have it.”
I tried to break free. He wouldn't allow it. Was this some kind of divine punishment? Not that I believed in such nonsense.
“You should enjoy it while it lasts. For when everything in this world has experienced all this angel has to offer, it will end. The world will experience such happiness that it will not be able to contain itself and there is nothing that you, nor I, can do about that. Nor should we. The only influence I have had is where to direct this happiness, but it would have taken its natural course, regardless. When it all ends, I hope you enjoy yourself. I hope I do too.”
He released me and I could feel his presence fade. Somehow his nonsense made total sense.
This triumph I had felt was meaningless.
We found Gumby sitting on the floor like some kind of LAME-O (and no, that is NOT the name of a cereal).
I poked Gumby. Also, I looked down and noticed more friends!
“Hey, hey! Hey bud! Hey Gumbs! Gumb-o! Goomy! Hey!”
Gumby groaned.
“Hey, look! I have a girlfriend now!”
I roped along my girlfriend, who I still did not have a name for.
“Look! We tried to eat each other but then our mouths got stuck on each other and that's when I realized that's probably how people kiss!”
We demonstrated. Our mouths expanded to form a perfect circle against each other. I looked at Gumby. He still sat there.
“I don't care...” He groaned. I watched as he went to laying down and turned to his side.
“How RUDE!” My voice box exclaimed.
“The world is ending. What is there to care about?”
“Yeah! That's the spirit! It's so cool!”
In spite of my enthusiasm, Gumby sounded glum. So...glumby?
“I won. But I also lost. But then again, this is how it was always going to go. What should I have done differently, then?”
He laughed, though it sounded pretty un-funny.
“World's ending. What's the point to anything?”
“Dude! Totally! So go get yourself a boyfriend or something!”
“That wouldn't matter either.”
He closed his eyes and I let him lie there. This was getting WAY too boring for me, YO! My girlfriend and I frolicked ANYWHERE ELSE and left the lame-o to be sad or whatever.

heya!! do you mind if i ask a bit abt ur kyokoswap au?? if u dont wanna thats fine but any info/hcs u have abt it wld be cool bc the au seems rlly neat!! tho again if u dont wanna def no pressure ^^; have a wonderful day!! :D
Tumblr media
VIBRATES EXCITEDLY i’ve been waiting 50 years for someone to ask about this!!!!!kyoko magica is one my oldest and most developed aus, i’m more than happy to answer this!
aside from minor adjustments to better fit each character’s arc, the story itself follows canon’s exactly! starts with kyoko having a dream about mami, ends with mami tearing apart kyokami in a new world. ofc a lot of the girls’ original traits remain in tact. kyoko is more like her pre-tds self, kind but ditzy and reckless, mami retains her ladylike grace, homura her overprotectiveness and so on…i always prefer leaving aspects that makes characters…themselves in swap aus if u get me? or maybe that’s just me
KYOKO
swaps with madoka. madokyoko or kyokami, as i like to call her!
a simple christian girl with a plain, ordinary life. kyoko had everything she could ever ask for: a loving family, supportive friends, amazing teachers- just everything! all of that changed when she meets a mysterious blonde girl in a post-apocalyptic setting in a dream…and that very same girl appears in her life the very next day!
while she has a kind heart, she is known to be fiery and unreasonable at times. this temper was usually displayed in heated confrontations with mami
the sakuras used to be rather poor. their financial status improved when the akemis stepped in to assist them, and the two families had forged a close bond ever since
eating is practically her hobby. still hates wasting food and will call out anyone who does so
is a d@ddy’s girl through and through. her father is wise and caring, so she often seeks him out for advice
her wish varies from time to time. in the first timeline she wished to save a cat she named Amy, while others had to do with wishing one or all of her friends back or to be able to defeat walpurgisnacht etc. her final wish was to erase all witches from the past, present and future with her own hands, which caused her to ascend to godhood and leave no trace of her existence in the new world.
kyokami felt lonely when she first realized she had no way to get in touch with her loved ones on earth. it felt even strange to be god herself…she’d always been a girl of faith yknow? she eventually embraced her fate as the composer of the universe, and is perfectly happy in bring salvation to magical girls all over the globe.
ophelia is the witch of abandonment. unlike gretchen, who desires to save the world, ophelia wants to destroy it. kyoko’s faith in humanity died the second ophelia was born…and the all-powerful wudan witch stops at nothing until this cold and cruel world is nothing more than barren wasteland
MAMI
switches with homura! her nickname is homumami, but she’s usually mamicifer to me
i like to call her moemami (or moemi???) in her ‘moe’ phase
was orphaned at the age of 6 when a fatal car crash killed her parents and left her paralyzed from waist down. the hospital had practically been her home since, until she was officially discharged yeaaaaars later
used to wear her hair in drilled pigtails, complete with colorful flower clips that surprisingly correspond to her future friends’ colors. in later timelines she would let her hair down and replace the childish clips with her signature bronze ones.
used to be wheelchair bound before contracting. learned to utilize her healing powers so she could walk again; she used crutches and ribbons to assist her during the early timelines. in later timelines, she fully healed her injured spine the same time she changed her personality
she had a big crush on sayaka in the past…something she’d rather forget. it still flusters her
her wish ofc was to redo her meeting with kyoko sakura
her birthday falls on may 1st. more abt it here
mami has a major sweet tooth.
candeloro is a miserable witch, literally shackled with chains of despair, forever alone in this nightmarish prison- her eternal pity party. although she comes off as aloof at first, her true nature warm and inviting, almost needy even.
she has her own set of ‘clara dolls,’ known as delightful dolls. there’s four of them, each resembling the girls of the quartet but represent the hostess’/mami’s worst aspects: vexation (kyoko), disgust (madoka), cruelty (sayaka) and love (homura)– the youngest doll is the least favorite and looks suspiciously a lot like the good-for-nothing’s dolls (see sayamura for the answer)
HOMURA
switches with sayaka. i lovingly dub her sayamura
was kyoko’s friend from childhood. they attended the same catholic elementary school together before mitakihara middle school.
sported her ‘moe’ appearance pre-contract. after making her wish, she ditched the braids and glasses in order to look ‘cooler’ (@ which kyoko wld say she always looked cool in her eyes
kyoko had been her knight in shining armor for as long as she could remember, and homura really wants to repay that by protecting her as well! she is also hella gay for her bff
her wish was to have the strength to protect others
her shield is very similar to the one seen in the original madoka manga, though it lacks the hammerspace storage. her firearms are formed via magic
her desire for kyoko, self loathing and jealousy are big big factors to her inevitable demise.
homulilly here is a mix of her nutcracker and mortal world forms. each and every one of the clara dolls still exist along with lotte, luiselotte, liese and lillia.
love is in fact, one of homura’s dolls; because homura and mami cherish the same person deeply, their feelings intertwined and therefore ‘share’ ai. post-rebellion, ai continues to pose as one of the delightful dolls and attempts to revive homura’s memories behind mamicifer’s back
SAYAKA
switches with mami. her nickname is mamisayaka here!
ghost and lonely are big inspos, esp for oktavia
came from a rather well off family, so she never really needed to worry about provisions when she was left on her own. still, all the money in the world could never fill the gaping hole in her lonely heart
knows how to play the violin
her parents and kyousuke and hitomi all perished when a theater collapsed on itself. old wounds reopened when madoka left her to live life her own way
is the ideal big sis! cheerful, sporty and has good grades…For A Sayaka. beneath the facade she’s a depressed slob who doesnt take care of herself as much as she should. its oke as long as she hides it all with a smile :)
oktavia von seckendorff is very highkey based off lewis msa; deadbeat-esque familiars, an abandoned mansion/concert hall labyrinth and a disembodied glass heart, which sits at the very bottom of her lagoon- that kind stuff. those she falls in love with, whether romantically or platonically, are never to leave her- she wont be alone, never again. one condition must be fulfilled in order to kill her successfully: stay. if she’s truly feels content, she will accept death without fail.
MADOKA
swaps with kyoko. kyodoka has a nice ring, doesnt it?
used to be exactly like the sweet and well-meaning canon!madoka in the past, a key difference was she would resort to stealing and breaking other rules to keep herself and her parents and little brother alive.
her mother was a businesswoman who wanted to take a more innovative approach to her work. alas, this would cost junko her entire career and the kaname family became penniless
madoka wished for her mother’s dream project to become reality. just as ur familiar with canon!kyoko’s story, it backfired horribly. disowned from her family, her mother became an alcoholic, dad gets pushed around and baby tatsuya doesnt understand whats going on. days later…press f for the kanames and madoka’s broken heart.
is vile, absolutely vile. can be sweet in one moment then violent and emotionally manipulative in the next like the two-faced bitch she is
rarely uses honorifics to address people anymore, unless she’s playing sweet to get something out of someone. uses ‘-chan/kun/san’ for those she sincerely cares for; she didn’t call homura ‘-chan’ before she began sympathizing with the latter
has a minor problem with booze and tobacco, namely the latter.
she loves loves loves melons!
knowing the value of being frugal, madoka hates wasting things that could be put to better use. she can be kind of a cheapskate in some sense, though she's sane enough to avoid resorting to ridiculous extremities.
kriemhild gretchen is exact the opposite of canon!ophelia. this towering witch continues oh so obsessively reaching for what she cannot; that one faraway glimmer of hope sitting at the endless skies of her labyrinth she calls paradise. shes stubborn as all hell, and will not let herself be destroyed UNLESS one convinces her the world is already a happy place in no need of saving
NAGISA
nagisa is nagisa.
the same charlotte that ate mamisayaka’s head is now a bapy that lives with her post-rebellion
her wish remains the same: to have one last cheesecake with her mother
not much to say here
thats all i can remember from the top of my head! if you want me to elaborate further, pls ask me @mahoutrauma!!

Bangkok is a true paradise for foodies. Trying out the famous street food at Khao San road or Chinatown has been fairly a matter of concern for tourists. The authentic Pad Thai, grilled meats, soups, skewers, wraps, Thai curries and other delicacies are irresistible and a must try at those street food stalls. Just be careful from where you buying the food. It is suggested to buy street food from crowded food stalls because the chances at such stalls are high that the food is being freshly cooked for the service.
There are many restaurants lined up at the river side areas which serve a variety of Arabic, Asian, Mediterranean and Continental cuisines.
Public Transportation In Bangkok – Bangkok Travel Guide
Transport Through Ferry Ride
Bangkok does not have the most convenient means of public transportation. With some good planning and checking hassle free options from the below modes of transportation, you would be able to reach all the major tourist spots.
River Ferry
Getting onto a ferry on the Chao Phraya River would be the most easiest way to your destinations. The biggest pro is that you don’t have to get worried about the city’s traffic. The river ferries have various stops to all the major tourist attractions in Bangkok.
Bangkok Transit System (BTS) or the Skytrain
The BTS or Skytrain is a train service convenient for people commuting between these areas – Silom, Sukhumvit and Siam. There are BTS stations that are conveniently located near the tourist places.
Bangkok Metro (MRT)
The MRT stations are located between Sukhumvit and Silom area. There are many MRT stations in the routes that are conveniently located near the tourist places.
Taxi or Tuk Tuk
Hiring a taxi or tuk tuk may seem quick on the roads of Bangkok, but the catch here is the traffic can be sometimes up on the roads. So, you again need to be careful here about the rush hours and the distance you might be traveling for.
Bangkok Travel Essentials – Bangkok Travel Guide
There are a few things that you should not forget to carry with yourselves to Bangkok.
Universal Adapter :  You may not be sure if the power supply switches at the hotels would be compatible with the chargers of your electronic devices. Here is where a Universal Adapter comes really handy. We love the Universal Adapter from Unidapt as it charges up to five devices simultaneously and also come with a one year money back warranty. Check it out here.
Sunscreen : You would need to apply a good sunscreen for protection from the harmful UV rays on sunny days in Bangkok. Make sure you carry one.
Mosquito Repellent Wristbands : Keep yourself safe from mosquitoes specially during the evenings. Check out these very effective Deet free and waterproof mosquito repellent wristbands from Mosquitno.
Refillable Water Bottle : The refillable water filter bottles from Lifestraw gives you safe drinking water. You can fill up these bottles from many places and be assured that you are drinking purified water.

Bangkok is reasonably safe if you are mindful and well aware about the city. Here are few things you should be aware about;
Beware of scammers in crowded areas.
The taxi drivers may take you through long routes before you reach the destination to shell out more charges from you.
Prostitution is illegal, but Bangkok has a bad reputation for it. Such rackets are led by local goons at many areas in Bangkok, ignore and keep yourself away from it.
Stay away from over-friendly strangers.
Secure your credit cards and cash safely in your money belt or wallet and keep checking time to time.

Dev Update #12: Minami, Neato News
Happy Sunday! Paradise here with a more text filled than normal update but definitely worth the read! First, some updates from this point on may be delayed by a few days, but I'll still try to keep to the Sunday schedule. School is freaking hectic and heck it, takes too much time!! But yeah, delayed updates would just mean I'd have an exam or something to study for! Anyway, enjoy the update!
What's Happening: 1) Plot News 2) Important Update 3) Minami Outfit Preview 4) Questions
---
1) Plot News
More plot news! Jun's route is practically finished! The only thing left for his to write are the endings and the sex scenes (yes that's right, SCENES). I'll update his final word count when everything is written out, but right now it'll most likely be around 100k. All of the other routes should equate to about the same within a 10k-15k difference. And yes, that's ATOP the common route word count which is around 65k words! So the game is going to be like--fucking massive.
However, don't worry! The final script will be completed in a couple of months and we should still be set to release in late summer of 2019, potentially even earlier if I can find a CG artist! (With school, it's almost impossible for me to do everything with the CGs, so we'll see how that goes. If I do have to do the CGs myself, the game may release a little later than we plan.) The game will still have 40-60 CGs and yes, we'll plan on CG previews. Unfortunately, the full CGs will most likely be available on patreon. Hiring a CG artist was not in the KS funds, so it is an excess cost that has to be accounted for. We'll plan on 4 CGs per month, including 1 NSFW CG. The cost on patreon will be between $3-$18 with 1-4 tiers. I really hate to do this but even if we get like $50 a month, that would help with costs. I wanted to keep the updates 100% free, but any additional income for the game will help with its progress. I'll make another update once CGs are in-progress when I do find an artist.
---
2) Important Update
So the majority of feedback of the demo has been positive, but there are always a few negative reviews and I've made it my business to address those issues. To some people, Rei's sarcasm is just that--sarcasm. However, some people take it as just anger or 'more effect than cause'. Yes, Rei can be brash, but I don't want him painted as just an angry young adult (because let's be honest, millennials already have a bad rap). Another comment has been about Minami's scene. Some felt like it drew out too long and some were just waiting for it to end. I really don't want people to feel like they need to skip through any scene.
Another thing is, so many of the characters sprites have changed and I feel like the demo does not represent the game any longer. For example, there are the purple twins, Jun's updated sprite, Mido's sprite, etc. I don't feel like the demo shows the complete quality of the game at this point.
What I'm changing: 1-How Rei interacts with some characters 2-Minami's scene 3-Sprites in the demo 4-CGs in the demo 5-Demo Script 6-Basically, the demo
Yes, that's right, the demo is getting an update! Not right away of course, but we will definitely be releasing a brand new 1st Degree demo by the end of the year! (I know I said there wouldn't be an updated demo but I literally decided on it like yesterday.)
Unfortunately, not everyone will be pleased, but that's a fact of life. Just know that not every voice will NOT be the same. We will be reopening a casting call in the future to fill in some voices (that includes a few female side characters~). We know it's not expected of voice actors to stick around a project for over a year of not working for them, so I will be in touch with the voice actors to get things rolling to see if any of them are still interested. Looking back, I definitely wish I was a bit more prepared, but hey, can't turn back now. Live and learn. I'll be more prepared for our next game, so I hope you'll be patient as we finish up 1st Degree!
---
3) Minami Outfit Preview
Yay! Minami's getting some attention! Been awhile since he's been in an update~ This week, he's got his cute little school uniform! Now his friend Lucas usually wears the standard gakuran, but Minami definitely prefers the shirt and tie approach. Can't help but be a classic cutie!
Now based on the other sprites, I now feel like Minami's BASE sprite is out of place. The super spunky colors don't really fit the aesthetic of the game, so sorry, it's being scrapped. Minami's new base sprite will be either variations of his school uniform. (I also feel like he looks more innocent.)
Either way, I hope y'all will still adore the little ball of sunshine!
Tumblr media
Definitely gonna be feelin' up that waist memeu!
---
4) Questions
1) What do you think makes a route good?
2) Are you looking for more drama and angst, or something more oriented towards JUST porn?
3) Anything you didn't like about the demo? Things you did like? Now's your chance to really break it down!
4) What do you think Minami's favorite position is? huehue
---
Finally, someone in our discord server has been making fucking 1D memes and I love them.
Tumblr media
---
Thanks again for reading and I hope you liked the update! If you have the time, please feel free to respond to the questions section! As always, if you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]

Feel free to join our discord! You can chat with me and the other devs, as well as a bunch of other weirdos~ Previews are also posted earlier on our discord!
