Summary: Jungkook knows that Yoongi needs a break, and wants to help him relax. He just hadn't planned on THAT kind of relaxing.
A/N: Written for @calixwrites - hope you enjoy!!
“Why are we doing this again?” Yoongi grumped, getting out of the car and squinting at the sunlight.
Jungkook twisted and stretched as he stood up, trying to wake himself after the long drive. The day was almost warmer than he’d prefer but it was perfect for what he had planned.
“Because you have been working too much in that tiny studio with no windows, no sunlight, and no fresh air for too long. You need some outdoor time,” Jungkook reminded him.
“I’m allergic to sun and fresh air,” Yoongi deadpanned.
Jungkook was used to Yoongi’s dry humor. He’d known him for years. Ever since he’d accidentally walked in on Jungkook in full Nephilim mode; all thirteen eyes and six tentacle-esque wings on display. Jungkook rarely had them out, even in private, but he’d been in a public bathroom trying to get his clothes and hair perfect for a date. And frankly, sometimes it was just easier with six extra appendages.
He had been able to keep Yoongi from screaming and convinced him he wasn’t crazy. Originally, Jungkook had only meant to keep tabs on him so he didn’t try to run to the authorities, but somehow, he’d gotten a close friend out of it. A friend that, right now, desperately needed some fresh air and a good meal.
“Hush and help me unpack,” Jungkook scolded.
Together they lugged it all up the stone steps in one go. (Tentacles really could be handy sometimes.) The beach house that Jungkook rented for cheap from a friend of a friend was small and tidy. One room served as the kitchen, dining room, and living room, plus a bathroom and a tiny bedroom. It would do for a night. The real benefit of the place was that it came with a quarter mile of private sandy beach.
“I thought the point of this was to get me out of a tiny room?” Yoongi teased after they finished looking around.
“it is. Which is why we’re going to lay out in the sun. Put some swim trunks on.” Jungkook beamed at his horrified expression.
“I’ll burn to a crisp! We don’t all have your magical immunity to the sun, you know.”
“I packed you sunscreen. The strongest I could find. You’ll be just fine. And you get to do one your favorite things. Just with fresh air and sunlight.”
Yoongi continued to look skeptical. Jungkook pouted. “Just give it a chance?”
Yoongi’s expression softened; Jungkook knew it would. The human couldn’t resist a good pout.
“Fine.”
The two of them changed and made their way across the hot sand. About halfway between the house and waves Jungkook stopped.
“The perfect spot!” He announced, setting down the bag and rummaging through it. Yoongi looked around.
“What makes this spot any different than anywhere else?”
Jungkook shook a large blue and white striped towel and laid it across the sand. He flopped onto it dramatically, the ground giving a satisfying thunk at his bulk. “Because this spot has a towel.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest. Jungkook reached out, fishing through the bag for a second towel. He threw it to Yoongi, smirking when it smacked the other square in his grumpy face.
Yoongi set it out, his expression decidedly softer. He settled onto the blanket and paused before kicking his sandals off and tugging his t-shirt over his head. He rolled onto his stomach, head pillowed on his folded arms. He wiggled a little, making a spot for himself in the soft sand. “This isn’t so bad,” he hummed.
Jungkook tried not to stare. It’s not that he’d never seen Yoongi without his shirt on. There had been occasions over the course of their friendship where he’d spilled something on himself, or it was just somehow more convenient, but admittedly it wasn’t often. Jungkook hadn’t actually expected him to take it off. But there he was, his broad back looking far paler in the sunlight.
They were just friends. But, that didn’t stop Jungkook from having eyes. And Yoongi was an attractive human even by human standards. Yoongi had his eyes closed; the soft curve of his lashes and the resting pout of his lips drew Jungkook’s attention next. He really, truly was achingly beautiful.
Jungkook dug around in the bag and dropped a bottle of sunscreen next to Yoongi’s head.
“There you go, potato chip.”
Yoongi grunted and opened his eyes.
“Were you already half asleep?” He asked, rummaging through the bag for a snack.
“Maybe. Did you just call me a potato chip?”
Jungkook pulled a bag of actual potato chips from and popped it open. He smirked. “Yeah. You said you were going to get crispy. And you’re already plenty salty.” He tossed a few of the ships into his mouth.
Yoongi ignored your joke and squeezed a dollop of the lotion onto his hand. He began to rub it into his arms and face methodically. It was a little unnerving to watch his features slowly be obscured by the sunblock. He glanced up at Jungkook and cocked a brow.
Jungkook smiled sheepishly, aware he’d been caught staring in an entirely creepy way. He offered Yoongi the bag of chips in an apology. Yoongi reached for them, but paused, both his hands covered in the gloopy lotion. He shrugged and held his mouth open like a baby bird instead. With an affectionate shake of his head, Jungkook dropped a chip into his mouth. Yoongi chewed and swallowed, and demanded yet another with an open mouther.
“Too greedy,” Jungkook scolded through a laugh, dropping another chip into his mouth.
He was actively ignoring the fact that it felt a little coupley to be hand feeding him chips. It wasn’t that he’d never considered a romantic relationship with Yoongi. He just knew it would never happen. They both had busy lives and, not to mention, Yoongi was so far out of Jungkook’s league it was nearly laughable. So, any crush that may have tried to bloom was quickly uprooted; Jungkook valued their friendship far too much.
After the third chip, Jungkook tossed Yoongi something to wipe his hands with. He laid back to enjoy the sun, feeling much of his stress being chased away.
“Hey, can you do my back?” Yoongi asked, popping the bubble of relaxation Jungkook had been drifting away into. He sighed and sat up, taking the bottle from Yoongi.
“You have such pretty markings, it’s a shame to cover them,” Jungkook commented casually as he began to rub the lotion into Yoongi’s back. The lines that arched over his shoulder blade and along his spine were nearly symmetrical. As Jungkook worked lower, he wondered what the markings further extension would look like. Humans often had more complex designs in that area, but Jungkook had never seen Yoongi’s. With how shapely Yoongi was though… Jungkook could only imagine they would be just as pleasing.
“Huh?” Yoongi asked softly. “What markings?”
“These,” Jungkook traced one line that dipped along Yoongi’s spine, still faintly visible through the metallic speckled UV reflecting lotion.
Yoongi squirmed.
“Ticklish?” Jungkook asked, repeating the action.
Yoongi grunted, wiggling away from his fingers. “I will put so much spice in dinner tonight that you won’t be able to taste anything for a month,” he threatened, laughter in his deep voice.
“Oh fine,” Jungkook held up his hands, relenting. “Now hold still so I can finish.”
“Hey, I was holding still. You started it.”
Jungkook smiled at his pout and set back to work. Just as he finished up, Yoongi spoke again.
“Really though, what markings? Do I have scars or freckles that I don’t know about?”
“No, your stripes,” Jungkook explained hurriedly, hearing the worry in Yoongi’s voice.
Yoongi craned his neck back to see Jungkook over his shoulder. “I don’t have stripes.”
It was then that Jungkook remembered. “Oh! Duh. I forgot. You must not have the right ocularity to see them.”
He was normally so careful around humans. His parents had drilled into him how important it was that people didn’t ever know about his differences. He almost never brought up the things he knew humans couldn’t see with their limited visual range. But Yoongi made him feel so normal. Aside from his initial freak out, he’d never acted like Jungkook’s abilities were anything more than a unique curiosity or a party trick. His expression now remained puzzled. Jungkook closed all but two of his eyes, limiting his vision to what a human would have. He couldn’t help but frown at the way Yoongi saw himself. It was so plain, like a rainbow in black and white for a human. Yoongi was still gorgeous, but that spark was missing. A human’s markings and colorings told Jungkook so much about them than their visible light ever could. Yoongi’s were particularly stunning from day one.
“In your visible light spectrum, they aren’t there,” he further explained.
“Ocularity? That sounds like a word Namjoon would know. Some obscure thing.”
“It means the number of eyes you have normally. Though I suppose in this case it’s more about spectral frequency than actual number of physical eyes…”
“And in your eyes, I have stripes?” Yoongi looked down at himself, curious. “I must look so weird to you.” He laughed lightly.
“Not at all,” Jungkook said. “You’re beautiful.”
“Beautiful?” Yoongi cocked his head and grinned.
Jungkook could feel his cheeks heat but tried to ignore it. “Yes, beautiful. You can’t tell me you aren’t aware of how stunning you are and how many people find you attractive.”
“Maybe,” Yoongi conceded. “But I didn’t think you did.”
Jungkook’s blush deepened. He tried to ignore it, but thought his cheeks rivaled the sun’s heat at that very moment. “Anyone with eyes thinks you’re gorgeous. So yeah, that includes me. Doesn’t mean I don’t think you’re an annoying troublemaker who worries his friends by overworking thought,” Jungkook stuck his tongue out and turned away, hoping Yoongi would let it go after the riff.
“So,” Yoongi continued much to Jungkook’s disappointment, “if you have more than the usual number of eyes, and more than the usual amount of uhh… Ocularity… Does that mean you find me more than the usual amount of beautiful?”
Jungkook sighed heavily. “Does it matter?”
“It doesn’t, I guess. I just always thought you were good looking. I never realized you thought the same about me.”
Jungkook scoffed, rolling his eyes in disbelief. “I’m sure the glowing eyes and tentacle wings are super sexy to a human.” Jungkook could hear the bitterness in his voice, but it had always bugged him. Any partner he’d ever had had only seen a part of him, nobody ever saw him completely, for what he truly was. They’d call him a monster.
When Yoongi remained silent, Jungkook figured his question had been answered. But Yoongi finally responded, “it is to this human.”
Jungkook snapped his head up to look at Yoongi then laughed. There’s no way that could be true. “You’re just being nice,” Jungkook said. “I appreciate it. But… Let’s just go back to enjoying the sun, eh?” He rolled onto his back on the blanket and closed his eyes, letting his skin soak up the warm rays.
Yoongi laid back on his stomach fully, silent for the moment. Jungkook could feel him watching him, but didn’t mind. It was a comforting feeling.
“I’ve always wondered. Can you feel your wings like that? Aren’t they on your back?”
“I can, and they are. But they also aren’t. I can still feel them and move them. You’re used to thinking in three dimensions, as a human. But when I hide my wings or other parts of me, it’s like…” Jungkook frowned as he tried to find an analogy Yoongi would comprehend. “Like taking pants off a paper doll. They both still exist to you, but for the doll, it doesn’t have pants anymore.”
“So hiding your wings is like taking your pants off?” Yoongi chuckled. When Jungkook glanced over, Yoongi winked suggestively. Jungkook’s brows furrowed, confused about what had gotten into his friend today. “No, not really,” Jungkook sighed, opting to ignore the flirtation… If that’s what it was. “It’s not a perfect metaphor.”
“Do you keep them hidden because they’re private? Or so you don’t scare people?”
“I’m pretty sure people would run screaming or try to lock me up and do horrible tests on me if I just walked down the street with glowing tentacle wings and thirteen eyes,” Jungkook deadpanned.
“You know I wouldn’t thought. But you still almost always keep them hidden from me too. I wasn’t sure if it was because they were private.”
“Oh…” Jungkook pauses to consider. “I guess it’s just habit,” he finally settled on. Even home alone he rarely brought them out. Only when he needed the extra appendage to flick a light switch off across the room or carry things. There was another long pause as Jungkook thought about Yoongi’s question, and Yoongi, apparently, was thinking as well.
“Can I see them?”
“Why so curious all of a sudden?” Jungkook asked. His tone was gentle. He sat up and wiggled his shoulders a little to pull his wings into this dimension.
“Wow.” Yoongi sat up and looked over Jungkook’s shoulder, his eyes tracing the long, golden, glowing tentacles. They shifted subtly in his perception, never entirely free from the currents of the fourth dimension. “I forgot how beautiful they are.” His gaze darted over to Jungkook’s face and he frowned. “What about your eyes?”
Jungkook hesitated. “You sure? I mean glowy wings might be tolerable… But thirteen eyes…”
“I’m sure. I can handle it. No screaming this time.”
Jungkook chuckled a little. He scrunched his face and blinked a few times, letting every part of himself slip into this dimension. It felt nice, like releasing a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
Yoongi stared for a long minute, his gaze intense. Maybe it did feel more like taking your pants off than he thought it would. Jungkook considered hiding his eyes away again; maybe he had horrified Yoongi after all, but Yoongi seemed to shake himself out of whatever trance he was in.
“Sorry,” he mumbled.
The pause grew to the point of awkward between them. Jungkook sighed, but opted to ignore it. He rolled onto his stomach to lie in the sun once more, wings still out.
“Can I touch them?” Yoongi blurted out. He paused when Jungkook looked up. Jungkook could swear he was blushing. “I’m sorry, was that rude?” He asked.
“No. Not rude. Not so different from touching my arm, I guess… I don’t know, really… I don’t know a ton of other Nephilim to have some sort of reference.”
“Oh, uh, right… Sorry.”
Jungkook shrugged and sat up, facing Yoongi. Yoongi did the same. Jungkook spread the tendrils of his wings out in front of him like open hands, glancing up at Yoongi expectantly. Yoongi reached out, setting his hand on top of them. Jungkook was surprised at the sensation. It felt so strange, but not uncomfortable at all. Soothing, in a way.
“They’re warm,” Yoongi said, surprise apparent in his own voice. He stroked his hand along the length of them, and Jungkook suppressed a shudder. It felt really good. Like someone rubbing his back but… More. Yoongi shifted his hands from stroking three at a time to just one. He twirled his finger around the tip of it, as if spinning a hair. The motion sent an unexpected shiver of pleasure down Jungkook’s spine and he gasped, nearly crying out. He yanked his wings away and instantly shifted them out of sight.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean—” Yoongi cried in surprise. “No, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize it would feel like that,” Jungkook stammered, his cheeks flushed and hot.
“Did I hurt you?” Yoongi’s brows were knitted together in concern.
Jungkook wanted the ground to swallow him whole. “No…” He mumbled. Yoongi must not have realized… “The opposite, actually.”
“Oh…”
“I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I’m so sorry,” Jungkook continued. “I honestly didn’t know it felt like that. I’ve never let anyone touch them, I didn’t know—”
“You’ve never let anyone touch them?” Yoongi asked, cutting Jungkook off.
“Of course not. You’re the only human that knows about them. Who else would have?”
“Your parents?” Yoongi suggested.
“They’re terrified of them. And besides… Now I’m glad they haven’t,” he admitted, letting out an uncomfortable chuckle.
“It’s not fair.”
“What isn’t?”
“That there’s this whole other side to you. An amazing side that you don’t get to show anyone. That you don’t get to explore at all because of how people are.”
Jungkook shrugged one shoulder. “I’m used to it. It doesn’t bother me anymore, I’ve spent my whole life hiding it. And besides,” Jungkook smiled. “You know the real me. So, one person has seen it. And accepts it… I hope.”
Yoongi nodded thoughtfully.
Jungkook looked back down at the blanket. There was a small nagging feeling in the back of his mind, a curiosity about what he’d felt in Yoongi’s hands, what more would feel like. He could explore it on his own, he figured. He wanted to put this whole awkward, humiliating event past him and get on with the relaxing weekend—
“I can help you,” Yoongi said, cutting into his plan.
“Help me?”
“You don’t know much about… That side. I mean, you didn’t know how it would feel to have someone touch them. But someday, I mean… You’ll meet someone who you can share that with, I hope. So, you’ll want to be prepared, or at least know what to expect. So, if you’re curious and wanted to, I… I could help you explore.” Yoongi looked down as he spoke, fiddling with the sand between their blankets.
Jungkook blinked, his mind taking a long moment to process exactly what Yoongi was asking. Was he actually offering… Based on his inability to make eye contact… And the beautiful pink glow of his cheeks, he was. It was strange, thinking of it, definitely not something friends did, right? Jungkook chewed his bottom lip until it hurt, his head twitching as he thought through the situation. It was definitely more than friends. And he should definitely not say yes. This held the potential of changing their entire relationship forever. Ruining it, even. Or making it something more. Yoongi had mentioned finding him attractive. But that was out of the question. No, he had to politely say no, this was something he could explore on his own.
“Okay.” The word came out firm and decisive, evidently his mouth had decided to ignore every shred of rationale his brain was giving.
“Really?” Yoongi looked up, his own eyes wide, as if he were as surprised by the answer. “You… I didn’t think you’d agree,” he admitted. “You’re sure? I do want to. But, I know this is… Big. We can stop any time.”
“I know.” Jungkook nodded. “I trust you.”
Yoongi’s entire face brightened, his mouth upturning into a gummy smile that had Jungkook’s heart fluttering and his cheeks and chest warming.
He took a breath, not sure where to start. “So… What should I do?”
“Well, I need to see them to be able to touch them,” Yoongi teased, reaching out and waving his hand in the empty space where Jungkook’s tentacles should be.
“Right.” Jungkook wiggled and let them appear once more.
“I’ll never get over how pretty that looks,” Yoongi commented. He let his hand fall, watching the movement of them for a moment.
“So, I don’t know what I’m doing here,” Yoongi said. “You’ll need to let me know how it feels, okay?”
“You mean you haven’t played with tentacles before? What kind of twenty-something year old are you?” Jungkook teased.
Yoongi scoffed. He reached out, catching one of the tentacles. He squeezed lightly, just hard enough to give some pressure, his eyes on Jungkook’s face.
“That’s okay, doesn’t hurt but… Doesn’t feel like it did before—Oh!”
While Jungkook spoke, Yoongi slid his hand slowly up and down the tentacle.
“Better?” He whispered. Jungkook nodded, closing his eyes. Yoongi repeated the motion and reached out for another tentacle, doing the same. He pulled one closer to him, twirling his finger around the tip like he had before.
Jungkook moaned softly, his eyes snapping open. He covered his mouth with his hands. “Oh, God, I—”
Yoongi let go of one tentacle to tug his hands down. “We’re alone. You don’t have to be shy.”
“This is so weird,” Jungkook mumbled, leaning toward Yoongi a little.
“Do you want me to stop?”
“No, please don’t stop… Do that again?”
Yoongi chuckled. He repeated the twirling motion and then slid his hand down the tentacle, moving it back up in one fluid stroke. Jungkook felt his belly tighten up and he moaned softly, his shoulders sagging a little.
“Come closer to me, I want to reach more of them,” Yoongi whispered.
Jungkook moved onto the same towel, resting on his knees in front of Yoongi, his head bowed. Yoongi made a small noise. He moved forward, wrapping both arms around Jungkook. He caught the tentacles in his hands, sliding his fingers over them and pressing where they emerged from Jungkook’s back. His short nails scraped over one as he stroked his fingers up it, and Jungkook cried out, jerking forward.
The motion sent him slamming into Yoongi’s chest, his heart pounding wildly.
Yoongi cried out in surprise, tightening his grip on Jungkook’s back. “Hey… You okay?”
“Y—Yeah,” Jungkook stuttered. He could hear Yoongi’s heart pounding as fast as his own. The aura around Yoongi was shifting, a vibrant array of colors that would have made the most strong-willed person a little dizzy.
“Are you okay?” Jungkook worried. “Is this… Not good?”
“This is…” Yoongi drifted off. Jungkook looked up at him, meeting his gaze. Yoongi’s pupils were dilated and dark despite the sun, his gaze intense.
“This is what?” Jungkook pressed.
Yoongi swallowed hard. He shifted, pulling Jungkook closer to him. “It’s okay,” Yoongi whispered. “You can lean on me.”
Jungkook pouted a little at Yoongi’s lack of an answer, but let himself be guided onto Yoongi’s lap. Yoongi’s hands slid over his back once more, up short, anxiety bitten nails scraping over the sensitive trunks of his tentacles. Jungkook moaned helplessly, letting his forehead fall onto Yoongi’s shoulder.
Yoongi began to work each of the tentacles in turn, squeezing and stroking, rubbing, each one, testing each. Jungkook’s entire body was on fire. His stomach was knotted in a million twists, a heat and pressure more intense than he’d ever felt before building low inside his belly.
“Yoongi—” He strained.
“I’m here,” Yoongi purred. His breath was hot against Jungkook’s shoulder. Jungkook moaned wantonly. He didn’t care. He didn’t care that they were “just friends”, he didn’t care that this was just “exploring”. Every emotion he’d felt for Yoongi was rushing back. Every glance that was less than friendly, every “what if” whispered in the back of his mind, every moment shoved away and boxed up under the guise of not wanting to ruin things, not being good enough, not being human enough.
“Yoongi!” He cried again, his voice taking on a pleading lilt. He let his head fall back, leaning into the touches. He looked at Yoongi, struggling to focus. The aura of colors surrounding Yoongi seemed to reflect his own inner chaos, shifting and writhing around them. Despite all of the emotions flooding him, it still surprised Jungkook when he felt Yoongi’s lips against his own. It took him a moment to react. Yoongi’s mouth was soft and plush, tasting of the potato chips they’d shared earlier, the faintest hint of coffee from this morning. He felt Yoongi begin to pull away and made a small noise, instinct kicking in. Jungkook wrapped his arms around Yoongi and deepened the kiss, pressing every inch of his own body against him.
The tentacles that Yoongi wasn’t touching wrapped around them, brushing Yoongi’s back and neck lightly.
He could feel Yoongi’s cock, pressing up against the fabric of his swim trunks, just as hard as his own. Jungkook brought his hips down, grinding their crotches together gently. It was almost disappointing; the lack of feeling he got from it. It was nice, of course, but didn’t feel near as amazing as Yoongi’s hands on his tentacles.
Yoongi, on the other hand, reacted beautifully. His hips jerked and he moaned into Jungkook’s mouth, his grip tightening ever so slightly on the tentacles.
Jungkook pulled back, pressing their foreheads together. He began to hump himself against Yoongi, their breathing rapid as they shared the same warm pocket of air.
Curious, Jungkook let one tentacle sink down, sliding over Yoongi’s bare knee. He shifted his own seating position and pushed it up slowly, into the leg of Yoongi’s swim trunks and up. Yoongi’s eyes widened almost comically when he felt it, his hands going still.
Jungkook pushed up further, letting the tip of the tentacle brush over Yoongi’s balls, already drawn tight to his body. Up further, and around his cock. He wound the tentacle around it in a firm grip, amazed at the texture he could feel, and how good it felt. He could feel Yoongi’s pulse, fast and strong. He stroked it experimentally. Both gasped. It was so intimate. Though it wasn’t exactly like being penetrated, it was so much more than any masturbation he’d done before with anyone. He began to jerk Yoongi off slow and steady, his own climax drawing closer.
Yoongi was wiggling and moaning, clearly struggling to maintain composure. He continued to work Jungkook’s tentacles, knowing the perfect motions at this point to send all the good sparks straight to Jungkook’s guts.
“Please—“ Jungkook gasped.
“Are you close?”
Jungkook nodded. Yoongi let go of one tentacle and grabbed the front of Jungkook’s shorts. He pulled them out and pushed them down just enough for the tip of Jungkook’s cock to be exposed.
“Nobody likes come in their shorts.” Jungkook laughed breathlessly. He did the same for Yoongi, but moved back and pushed them down further.
He watched his tentacle stroke Yoongi’s cock, breathless at the beauty of it. The stripes on Yoongi’s back wound around to his front, swirling around his cock in complex, beautiful patterns.
“Together—“ Yoongi panted.
Jungkook blinked at him.
Yoongi let go of his tentacles only long enough to pull him close again. He touched the tentacle on his cock. “Jerk us both off.”
“I can barely feel my cock with you touching my tentacles,” Jungkook admitted.
He still did as Yoongi requested, unable to hide the smile when Yoongi’s hips jerked. The skin of their cocks slid together as he stroked them both with the tentacle.
Yoongi turned his focus back to the other five, matching pace as they each pulled one another toward climax.
Jungkook came first, unsurprisingly. His head fell back and he shouted Yoongi’s name. His full form shimmered into view, the intensity of his orgasm forcing him into one dimension. His cock spilled his release down the shaft, slicking the way for his tentacle as he continued to stroke them both. Every nerve in his body was on fire, even his tentacles felt as if they were tensing and releasing in time to the powerful climax.
Yoongi swore and jerked. Jungkook forced his eyes open in time to watch, not wanting to miss it. Yoongi’s release spurted onto Jungkook’s belly. Yoongi shuddered, dropping his head onto Jungkook’s shoulder as the waves of pleasure washed over him. Jungkook could nearly see it in his shifting aura, beautiful and hypnotizing.
The two sat in silence for a long time after their orgasms faded, catching their breath and letting the reality of what happened sink in. Yoongi was the first to move, reaching over and dragging the bag closer. He found the towel he’d used to wipe his hands earlier and used it once more, cleaning the release from their bodies and Jungkook’s tentacles tenderly.
Jungkook moved off him and back onto his own blanket, fixing his shorts. He shrugged a bit, his tentacles and extra eyes slipping from view once more.
“So…”
“That was…” Yoongi began at the same time. They both chuckled a little, a tension in the air.
“What do we do now?” Jungkook finally asked. He found himself unable to meet Yoongi’s gaze, afraid of what the other was going to say.
“You were saying I was handsome. I mean… That you thought I was,” Yoongi began.
“You are.”
“Was it just that? Like… You think I’m handsome but we’re friends and… That’s it? Or… More?”
Jungkook cautiously looked up at Yoongi. He was sitting in a similar position, staring at his hands in his lap.
“I’m afraid to answer,” Jungkook admitted.
“Please, don’t be. I need to know.”
“I don’t want it to ruin our friendship.”
Yoongi looked up. “If you’re scared of that… Does that mean it’s a yes? To… More?”
“I tried to ignore it. I figured we were both busy and you’re… So handsome. I’m just…” Jungkook drifted off.
“The most stunning person I’ve ever met,” Yoongi finished.
“That’s a boldfaced lie,” Jungkook snorted.
“No, Jungkook. It’s not.” Yoongi moved forward. He grabbed Jungkook’s face, cupping it in his hands. “I’ve been fascinated with you forever. You’re funny and kind and beautiful, and so interesting. I can’t get bored around you. You make me so happy. I just figured… I’m so… Human. And how dull I must be to you.”
Jungkook grimaced. “I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. You are anything but dull.”
“I lack the ocularity,” Yoongi responded, his voice shifting as he smirked. Jungkook laughed. He set his hands over Yoongi’s wrists.
“So, it seems like… We both have been interested in more for a while.”
“And were both too worried to say something.”
“Now that the truth is out… What’s next?”
Yoongi smiled softly. “I think we go take a dip in the ocean. And then make dinner… And then come lay on the beach and watch the sunset together… How does that sound?”
Jungkook smiled brightly. He let his tentacles and eyes appear, his heart skipping a happy beat when Yoongi’s smile broadened.
“I think that sounds like the perfect first date.”

Written Ship 🌵
hiiii!! ur blog is literally the cutest thing omg ;)) i was wondering if i could get a written ship for bts, Wayv, and stray kids please? also i’m am sorry that i went a little crazy w/ my description :( <3
i am an intp/entp i literally switch between the two every time i take the test sooo… i love anything creative so writing, drawing, painting, etc. but i’m also a perfectionist and tend to be a little impatient so i restart projects a lot if it’s not exactly how i imagined it. i’m a libra sun w/ a capricorn moon!! so emotions are something i struggle expressing a lot because i don’t want to burden others. i definitely take on more than i can handle both physically and mentally but i have been trying to get better at that! i may seem a bit serious[...]
@xxminmixx Heyy cupcake!! That’s okay this was actually pretty helpful. I’m so happy I got to read more about you and thanks so much for your patience your ship is finally here…❤️❤️❤️
From Bts, I ship you with…J-Hope
Positive Side: You both lift each other up and lead each other to the right path. With his mbti being ESFJ he radiates positive energy and loves to lift other people’s moods up whether they’re happy or sad. When I read more about your description, I feel like your leaning more towards ENTP which matches very well with ESFJ. They’re both very energetic communicators and have the most lively discussions which can lead to some good work being accomplished. Your both very creative in the area of art and music which is very easy for people to identify your style and stands out in the crowd. With him being very patient and his mindset being a lot more positive he would do his best to help you work on projects when it comes writing, painting or helping you with a speech. Although he seems like a tough teacher, he’s very passionate and just wants you to succeed. When you overworking yourself, he would stop you immediately and help you relax by meditating, drinking tea, listening to some music or just taking you out on a drive to the park so you can get some fresh air. J-Hope has a sense of humor too so he has no problem with making you laugh or melt over his cuteness with his cheerful personality! He would even try to teach you dances that’ll instantly lift your mood if you ask and say the magic word. Lastly, J-Hope is someone that’ll help you find ways to love yourself and would help you on your journey with your mental health alongside his members, because he loved and cared about you that much.
Negative Side: Everything would be sunshine's and rainbows with J-hope, but only most of the time. Sometimes J-Hope goes through his tough days, but doesn’t want to express that infront of you and have you worried about him. His smile is his mask to hide his pain and once he breaks down, it makes you want to cry and hug him. You both in a sense have a hard time expressing your emotions and don’t want to burden the other person.
But…: After learning how to build trust and breaking down each others walls it’s become much easier to open up to each other about your inner negative thoughts about yourselves. Boy it was a night filled with tears, but it turned out to become a lot better for your relationship because now you two can easily run to each other about your problems and help each other find ways to fix it. Of course with you being more protective a over him it scares away haters and people close to you that tries to go against him in a debate. You both have each others back in any situation whether you were right or wrong.
Tumblr media
From Wayv, I ship you with…Ten
Positive Side: Ouu now this should be interesting. Your both very entertaining together and it shows throughout your friendship and relationship as a couple. First of all when you first meet Ten he was so sweet, talkative and protective of you around the Wayv members. Once you got closer to him, he started to reveal his sassy side and sometimes loved to tease you about almost anything goofy you do. You can be rolling your eyes and he would be copying right after you just to see how you react. He’s also a man full of charisma so he knows how to make your heart flutter, but when you do it right back, he doesn’t know how to respond and just laughs with his ears turning red. Your both also very talented creative people so he would be the first to help you without having to ask and would give his most honest, but useful feedback. He’s also a very active person so he’s so down with playing sports and dancing with you. He would even use the opportunity to make his move whenever your lost on a dance move or don’t know how to properly do a kart wheel. Ten is always very confident and not afraid to say what is on his mind so he’s someone that you can look up too and that can help build confidence easily for yourself. He could tell you for hours how much he loves you and how why you shouldn’t be afraid to reach out to him for any problems with your mental health. He would be very aware of what bothers you and would do anything to his ability to fix it for you.
Negative Side: In the beginning of the dating phase, you both would debate and argue a lot often. It started off as playful teasing until it started to drag out longer then expected. It would get more intense, but never to the point where it would leave you both hurt in the mix. You two just love to bicker a lot sometimes which can sometimes give your friends a headache. Your both also very selfless and love to put each other needs first before your own which can be sometimes concerning.
But…: That’s just part of your dynamic of the relationship. One minute you can be arguing over who left the dishes on the sink last night and the next minute your cuddling in his bed saying sorry for that pointless argument. In general these issues aren’t super major to the point where it would cause you to break up. The love and bond that you have with each other is so strong that it would be hard to separate from him.
Tumblr media
From Stray Kids, I ship you with…Felix
Positive Side: When I tell you this is your match made in heaven I’m not joking. It was so hard to choose between Felix and Han, but Felix just made a lot more sense. Felix has one of the most down to earth, loveable and such a happy virus! Almost similar to J-Hope personality whenever you just see him, he just instantly lifts your mood. On top of his beautiful deep voice and freckles that are just to die for he’s simply pure. He’s the ideal boyfriend for you and constantly meets most of your needs. His personality just collides best with any kind especially yours which is why he’s very close with all his members. Just like everyone on this list, he’s open to collaborating you in any music and art projects. He’s also kind of the perfectionist too (his Virgo traits showing lol) so he would understand if something looks out of place, but he would encourage you to keep going and finish strong. He might not be the most athletic, but he can play a mean game of football and Frisbee in the park. I can imagine you two being super competitive and tripping each other on purpose to reach out for the ball. Dirty game play, but ends in smoochy sessions. Lastly what I love about him the most is that he is very thoughtful the best boyfriend trait to have ever! He’s always rewarding you with gifts, affection and the L word any chance he get. Overall Felix is someone that you would feel comfortable sharing your whole life story and making memories with him.
Negative Side: It was had thinking of a negative, but I would say the only issue you both tend to have is you both tend to be too stubborn. It’s very hard dealing with two people that are stubborn, because once you both made up your mind about something nothing is going to change your opinion otherwise. Now as far as when these problems would occur, it can be when your having a heated discussions about on what beat you should use for the song or where to put your new coffee mugs you just bought as a souvenir from japan. That’s also where your need for things to be almost perfect come in to play and makes the arguments way more pointless. Felix in the end always let’s you have it your way and goes on about his day. Sometimes the boys would have to step in the debates just to stop you two, because neither one of you refuse to stop.
But: You both have a lot of heart for each other to let some petty disagreements get in the way of what you actually want to accomplish. Sometimes it’s okay to restart a song your both working on until you both agree with a beat that matches perfectly. As far as the coffee mug situation it took awhile to figure out, but in the end you both agreed to keep each other’s mugs in your rooms next to your couple picture frames of each other. These arguments might seem dragged out and over something small, but you both always find a way to compromise.

Unforeseen Chasm (Part26)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:3140
Warnings: Language
Note: This is by far the longest thing I’ve ever written (including my novels). It’s a collaboration with the amazing @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo. It started as a funny “What if…?” and it evolved and got huge. This took two years to write. We are both proud and happy and we hope you enjoy it. It follows from Thor 1 to Endgame in the MCU. Some of the timelines may be off in order to fit certain people, and some characters may show up earlier or in different ways than they have in the movie. But for the most part, it follows the MCU. It also has a bit of crossover with some other Marvel characters throughout the story.

The following morning you couldn’t wait to talk to Shannon so you opened up the tablet, clicked the video chat app, and chose your only contact. For some people, one contact might seem lonely, but for you, that one contact was all you needed.
She accepted the call and her stunning face lit up the window as you pulled your coffee close to your lips.
“Morning, Y/N,” she greeted, pouring her own coffee, a tired look on her face.
“Morning, hun.” You waved to her. “Any big plans for the day?” you wondered.
“Kinda,” she answered after swallowing some coffee.
You perked an eyebrow up. “Oh? I’m intrigued. What’s on the agenda?”
“Hoping to finish creating that surprise for you two,” she informed.
You frowned at her, confused. “I thought the tablet was my surprise?”
She smiled widely and giggled. “Nope, that’s for us to chat. But there’s this research I’ve been doing for a few months now but still no result. I feel like I’m missing something.”
“What research?” you blurted out, not able to resist asking.
“It’s got to do with the genetic mutation in identical twins,” she informed. “Here. If you go to your office, you can project my notes and data from the camera that’s set up there. Just double tap the screen when you get there.”
You nodded and took your coffee and tablet to the office in the adjoining room, while she sent the files down to your cell.
“Everything is there. I’m just having trouble identifying how it is that one of the two ends up with a mutation while the other doesn’t,” she commented, sounding frustrated.
“Have you listened to Bach?” you asked, knowing that every time she listened to him, it jogged her mind.
She stared at you through the tablet and deadpanned, “What do you think?”
You laughed and held your hands up “Okay, okay. Fraternal or maternal twins? Raised in the same environment? What are Tony’s thoughts? Banner’s? They have a lot of experience with mutation… Did you call Charles?”
“Depends on the case. I have a few sets that are paternal and some there is a turn off, but they have the opposite effect with the mutations from each side. Tony doesn’t know. He is not really aware of what happened. Banner… he can help with just a small amount. The thing with the experience on mutation is that you know Bruce and becoming the Hulk but there’s not much you can get out of it because even his own studies have led to very little.” She began to read in her ledgers. “Speaking of, I’m actually I’m going to contact Charles later today. Hopefully he’s not that busy, and neither is Logan, and they can probably run some tests, figure out some stuff. Probably hit the ring to see what triggers some of my powers.”
Your face fell a little bit, remembering how you used to visit Charles with her. It made you miss him and all of the X-Men… “Oh, are your powers… bad? I mean.. Like, you haven’t consulted Charles in a long time,” you noted.
She glanced over to the screen, noticing the change in your tone.
“If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine. It’s not really any of my business if you powers aren’t going quite right,” you stated, laughing somewhat nervously, a pang of guilt hitting your gut.
“Don’t worry, Y/N. It’s not that they’re bad. It’s just… they’re changing. I used to take people’s powers temporarily, but now, I can store them. And the shapeshifting and the flying. I’m rapidly mutating and I’m not sure what’s causing it…”
You nodded, listening to her, worried for her, and angry that you were locked in a cell with no way to help her.
“Y/N… do you remember that one kid at the mansion who would feed off people's emotions and it became what he felt?” she asked, looking at you, hoping you remembered.
Sadly, you didn’t, so you shook your head. “No, who was that?”
“I can’t remember his name, but he had bumped into me one of those few times I went to train. And it seems I absorbed some of his powers and that what might be messing me up. It used to be very subtle, but now… now I can hardly get through an emotional event without it draining on me. Like when Steve had to carry me out,” she reminded.
“You think it’s damaging you,” you said, summarizing for her.
“I think it is,” she agreed. “If it’s emotionally strong, positive or negative, I just… The fight I had with Tony?”
“Yeah?”
“I was so mad at what he was saying I hadn’t realized my weather powers had triggered and mixed with the laser beams I took from Cyclops and it mixed with your purple energy and things were thrown at Tony when I yelled at him. Thankfully one of his suits was there or I might have hurt him.”
You muttered, “I know what that’s like.”
Shannon stopped what she was doing and put down her pen, giving you her full attention. “What do you mean you know what it’s like?” A moment later she added, “If you’re comfortable telling me, that is.”
“Ever since Thanos put this--” You showed your purple dark energy and then made it disappear “--inside me, it’s turned me into someone else… I was so angry all the time, at everything. It’s much better now, but I still get so much rage.” You looked up at the camera, facing her. “So I know what it’s like to not quite know what’s happening to your body… To have this… power… but it destroys you.”
“It does. I’ve noticed I can’t keep up during training with Nat. Both of us being a part of the Red Room, we’ve kept to training like they taught us, but I’m just not as fast as I used to be.” She shrugged and looked a bit sullen. “It’s all still here,” she noted, pointing at her head with her pen. “It’s just that this is giving me trouble.” She closed her eyes, and then opened them, revealing  milky red eyes with purple swirls.
“I can’t imagine how hard it is for you,” you commented. “To hold all those powers and finding out how to use them and keep them in check.”
“At least it hasn’t taken over… yet,” she remarked, staring down at her hands.
“It won’t. You’re too strong for that,” you assured.
Shannon smiled a small bit, glancing up to look at you through the screen, trying to find solace in your words.
“I was hoping to see if I can get you out of there so that you can come with me to the mansion and we can both figure out what’s going on with our powers?” She sighed and reminded, “Of course, I’ll have to talk to Fury about it.” A groan escaped her just thinking about it, and you smiled slightly, remembering how much she did not like negotiating with the SHIELD director.
Your face list up a million degrees. “You would really see about that?”
“Of course. I want us to be able to get the help we need. We shouldn’t have to suffer at the hands of these powers.”
“I’m sort of public enemy number one. Not sure the world is ready for me to be out…” A deep frown followed your statement that didn’t go unnoticed by your friend.
She lifted an eyebrow. “Well… technically, the world doesn’t know it was you. You know Charles, he’d probably help get you to the mansion without being seen, just to help you.”
A sly smile played on your lips. “Are you suggesting Nightcrawler break me out?” you teased.
Shannon couldn’t help but start laughing jovially at your comment. “He’d probably have a blast getting out of there! That kid loves scaring Tony.”
You were so overwhelmed with the prospect of getting out, even if it was just for a few hours, that you had almost forgot about your fellow cellmate. Saness colored your face and tone. “I don’t know if I should Leave Loki though… That doesn’t seem… fair that I should get a day pass…” You glanced back toward your bedroom, a guilty look on your face.
Shannon understood where you were coming from, so she offered, “I mean, it’s only if you want to. Besides, it’s not like we’re going out to shop. It’s to help you progress and reinstate yourself to the world.”
You bit your lip, noticing the wording. Reinstate yourself to the world… Right.. Because you were in prison.
“Not to make that sound like you’re a felon!” she loudly corrected, turning back to the screen with a look of embarrassment.
You waved it off. It wasn’t her fault you were in the situation you were in.
“Let me talk to Loki?” you requested with raised eyebrows. “But I would love to see everyone again, and figure out how to get… this side of me out.”
“Of course! Take whatever time you need. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to contact Charles, so let me know whenever you’ve made a decision.”
“I will. Thank you, Shannon. In the meantime, do you have anything physics related I can study? I am going bonkers down here…” You paused for a moment, before asking, “Does Tony mind you talking to me? Or sharing data? I mean, he’s still pissed at me… right?”
This time, it was her turn to wave you off. “Forget Tony, he’s my problem, not yours.” She looked at you and smiled. “I could get you whatever Jane’s left unfinished? There are a few new things she got here.” She pointed to a stack of files on the nearby desk.
“Please, send me anything, otherwise this gold mine is going to rot,” you joked, pointing to your head.
“Well we can’t have that now, can we?” She giggled before talking to JARVIS. “JARVIS, send whatever files are in our system from Jane’s recent studies down to Y/N’s office.”
“Right away, Ms. Shannon. Is there anything else?”
“Let me know when Fury will be coming by the Tower or the complex, please?”
“Yes, Ms. Shannon.”
“The files should be ready for you to look through, now. I’ll make sure any new data gets sent to you too.” Meanwhile, she was nodding her head while looking at the holographic data in front of her, swiping it to and fro.
“I’ll let you get back to your work,” you offered, trying to hide the sadness in your voice. But her work and research was more important than keeping a prisoner like you company.
She hummed. “Hmm? Oh, yeah, sorry. I just have a deadline for this and--”
“Shan, it’s fine,” you assured genuinely with a soft smile.
She seemed to be relieved by your words. “Okay, I’ll talk to you later, okay? Don’t forget to talk to Loki and let me know?”
“I’ll let you know by the end of the day.”
“Thanks. Talk to you soon.”
The call ended.
But no part of you could even be sad, for this had been the best gift you’d gotten in some time. Other than being allowed to share a cell with Loki, this was the next best thing.
-----------------------------
Loki was still asleep during your conversation with Shannon, but when he woke up and you made him a nice brunch, you decided to dive right into the touchy subject of you getting a day pass, and not him.
“Uh, Loki,” you started as he ate his meal.
“Yes, darling?” he asked, glancing up to you.
You wrung your hands, knowing how this sounded. That you would be leaving Loki behind, that you were gaining freedom and he wasn’t. That you were not, in fact, equals, as you had said you’d been. As you always tried to prove to him.
“Shannon.. She has an idea…”
“Is it an idea to break out of this?” he asked, pointing around with his eyes.
“Well… actually… kind of.”
He peered at you with a curious frown.
“I told her about my powers, about how the thing Thanos pout in me is dark and it wears on me…”
“Yes?”
“Well… she’s going to Charles Xavier to get her powers looked at. It seems she has a mutation that’s causing her issues… And she said she might be able to get me a pass to sort of… go with her,” you informed nervously. You were so worried Loki would simply see this as a way of you gaining freedom, while he stayed behind. Or that you were somehow distancing yourself from him.
“So you would get to leave?” he clarified.
“Yes. She’s going to talk to Fury, and see if it’s even possible. It’s more like a trip to the doctor. I’ll be going to see if he can do anything about the power not being so…”
“Evil?”
Your gaze slid to his as you nodded.
“My love, if you need to go, go. It will be nice for at least one of us to leave this cell, even if it’s just for a day.”
“Really?” you asked, hope swelling inside you.
“Yes, of course. Go, do whatever you need. I’ll be here when you get back,” he said with a sly smile and you couldn’t help but round the kitchen island and hug him tightly.
-----------------------
As Shannon closed down her work and research for the day, she stepped out of the lab, somewhat exhausted, but simultaneously refreshed. It was amazing how just talking to you had lifted her spirit so much. She had only made it a few steps when Tony came up and greeted her.
“Hey, babe. Mind walking with me?’ he asked.
“Ugh, Tony, I’m so tired... I think I just want to go sit and read for a little bit,” she said, hoping she wouldn’t offend him.
“That’s fine, I just thought we could have a quick bite together?” he wondered, his eyebrows perched up,wanting to guilt her in with his innocent, irresistible look.
She rolled her eyes and smiled. “Alright, alright. Yeah, let’s go grab a bite. What did you have in mind?” she asked as he led her down the hall toward the kitchen and dining area.
As soon as the two of them rounded the corner, she was greeted with the Avengers and some other colleagues from around the tower. The people she’d hidden herself away from for the last several days.
“Surprise!” the group yelled.
“What’s all this?” she asked, befuddled, a warm grin on her face.
“We noticed you looked a little down,” Clint noted.
“And you just got back,” Bruce added.
“So they thought it would be nice to have a little welcome home dinner. Nothing fancy, just… the tower isn’t the same without you, babe,” Tony said, his arm wrapped around her shoulders.
“Oh, you shouldn’t have,” she said with a humble, sweet smile.
“Nonsense!” Steve objected as Tony let go of her and Steve’s arm replaced it. “You deserve it. We all missed you.”
“Well, thank you, all of you. I missed you too.”
---------------------------
Sometime later that evening, you called Shannon on the video chat. The AI found her closest device and opened up, displaying where she was.
“Hey, Sha--” Was all you got out before you saw what was going on around her. It appeared to be a small party. Shannon had a drink in her hand, as did all the Avengers and a few other people you didn’t recognize. She was laughing and hitting Nat’s arm, while Tony and Clint were smiling and talking. Bruce seemed to be having a good time with the strangers, talking.
At first, you were happy, a smile pulling at your lips, but just as you were about to join in, you realized -- you couldn’t. You couldn’t open your mouth and tell a joke, you couldn’t say anything to anyone… Because you were locked away, several floors below them, paying for your crime. Even if you did try to blend in, even if you did try to get anyone’s attention, you would be met with a resounding “fuck off”. Who knew what kind of pandemonium would’ve erupted if they knew you were contacting them.
With a sad sigh, you swiped over to the texting app and sent Shannon a text, telling her that you were good to go.
You switched back to the video app, where Shannon pulled out her phone, smiled at it, typed a quick response, and pocketed it again.
“Sounds good. I’ll talk to Fury,” she sent back.
Your face fell and you were about to close the app when you noticed Steve Rogers was looking at you. It seemed he had just glanced up. Your eyes met but you didn’t have it in you to try and smile to be polite. Steve gazed at you, and if you weren’t mistaken, you saw… sympathy in his eyes, in his slight frown. He gave you a tiny nod, and you returned it before your gaze dropped.
Unable to bear the sadness, and downright pity for yourself, you closed the video app. Steve looked away, feeling sorry for you, but tried to get back to the party.
Sulking, you closed the tablet and left it on the coffee table to get up and go to bed.
Loki peered up at you from his magazine, a worried frown etched into his stunning features. “Darling?”
“Hmm?” you hummed.
“Is everything alright? I thought you were going to call Shannon?”
You turned slowly to face him. “Uh, I did. She was busy so… I'll catch up with her tomorrow,” you said, hoping to hide your disappointment.
“Are you sure? You seem upset,” he commented as he stood and came over to you, putting his hands on your arms.
“I’m fine,” you lied.
He peered down at you with peculiarity. “If you’re not fine, you know you can tell me. If you don’t want to talk about it, I’ll understand.”
You smiled up at him, loving that you could tell him anything. “Alright, that’s fair. I'm not fine, but I don’t feel like talking about it.”
He smiled. “There we are.” He kissed your forehead. “I’m here if you need me.”
“I know,” you assured before leaning up to kiss him earnestly, but quickly. “Thank you. I just want to go to bed for now. I’ll let you know if I feel like talking.”
“Goodnight, darling. I’ll be in shortly,” he promised with warmth. He let go of you and you nodded slightly before heading to bed and curling up in your bed. The bed you lived in for the last several months… the bed you would probably live the rest of your life in.

BTS: Virgo Boys - Namjoon’s Thankfulness | Leadership (Sun | Moon | Mercury)
Tumblr media
Virgo Boys Masterlist: JK Series | NJ Series
I’ve talked about this on the Namjoon Inner Planet Natal reading but let’s look at how the humble Virgo Sun and benevolent Sagittarius Moon plays with the harmonious Libra Mercury. How he expresses himself, and their aspects together.
Tumblr media
First of all, there’s sincerity. There’s not one single interview where Namjoon doesn’t focus on how thankful he is to the fan, and that’s a place that comes from the heart.
It’s not just a social custom, there’s genuinity there. He jokes but he never jokes about people’s love/support/genuine affection for him because he knows that’s not something to joke about. (Sagittarius Moon-- loves to joke, but is stopped by this Virgo Sun and also just general self-awareness they both share).
Virgo natives take this quite seriously, especially in the Capricorn decan. Nothing comes easily to them, not their self-esteem, not their confidence. With any signs that’s supporting their chart (a flamboyant moon, a hyper-critical mercury) the inner need to show gratuity to others is immense. It will come through just from the influence of this Virgo Sun (no matter how laid-back/teasing they appear to be, this seriousness will come through in moments of genuinity/clarity when they need to make a speech/express themselves).
You can never catch a Virgo Sun not being somewhat humbled, or discrediting other people’s influence on their lives. That’s part of their integrity as a person-- their morals/values-- because they credit their successes to the contribution of others in their ego/self-confidence as well (Mercury -- communication/physical build up of ‘self’ through support)
Their own livelihood and successes (inner sense of self- Sun) is attributed/contributed to serving/giving back to their support system. And that’s part of what makes Virgos so dedicated/appreciated in the public. Because they’re practically ingrained in that cycle of receiving, building and giving back (releasing) to others. Thus-- the insane amount of genuinity and dedication he gives to his fans/members/family/staff around him fuels his inner purpose/personal need as well (serving/giving back- Virgo).
Tumblr media
Is it his job to be sympathetic to the public? no not really, he has to be cordial and come across a certain way, but there’s nothing truly gaining from him (in his position) to respond back/put himself on the same level as his fan.
The most amazing is that Namjoon still does it in leaps and bounds anyways. With Namjoon, that connectivity to his fan is important to his inner wants/needs and core (luminaries - Sun | Moon).
His presence in the fandom is important-- just as much as we are to him, he is a part of us as well. He wants to feel things from both sides (Sagittarius - learning/exploration) he doesn’t want his perspective to be restricted/stifled (by seeing things from one side only).
He wants to be part of the movement, the action, the change that truly brings about the things their music is creating in the world. He benefits personally from these changes himself (as much as he leads them) and they serve a higher purpose to himself-- his person (Sun - inner conscious, Moon - conscious/subconscious).
That’s what truly makes his messages/gratuity important to Namjoon -- it’s about collaboration, and not feeling isolated/separated from the public in the first place-- that makes everything impactful for everyone involved.
Namjoon is an untraditional leader because he actively chooses himself over his duties sometimes. His genuinity and integrity come from self-benefit (Sun | Moon) even if it serves others at the same time.
He can’t act cordial or become too complacent when he disagree with something, he can’t be bound to the system when the system is fucked. The changes they talk about, and the changes they want to bring-- are exactly the reason why they are in this team in the first place. To bring about said change, and benefit from it as well (as people, as individuals, as the public-- as well as the representative to these kind of thinking) they have to be part of the change, as well as using their position wisely to make about said changes.
This opportunity-- the chance and influence they have over the media/public doesn’t come easily. They’re always constantly amazed and excited because they see themselves as part of the public.
That’s the core part of BTS, it wasn’t seeing themselves as idols or trainees or stars. They’re first and foremost-- just part of the change/people benefiting from said change themselves. They have Ideas and Voices and Thoughts on the subject, just like everybody else. But this influence/opportunity is like an amplifier/speaker that is a delicacy, people just like them (part of the change/want said change) would die to get a hand on the amplifier/speaker.
Thus why they handle it with great care, uses it sparingly, chooses what they want to do. They remain themselves throughout the entire fiasco that is their fame. That’s what they came from and that’s what they’ve decide they’re going to end up with-- just being part of the public again, the stability/core part of where their humbleness/integrity stems from.
Tumblr media
There’s a clear perspective/understanding in the true core values of trying to get to know/connect to the fandom. A real care/bond that isn’t fed through a publicist or some mediator in-between the idol and the fans.
He knew about the purple ribbon project, he knew about the hardship (has mentioned) his fandom goes through. And he knew because he cared to ask and learn about people in a very genuine fashion.
It’s that ability to truly be sympathetic (developing Sagittarius Moon), reach out to others and struggle through the strain of ‘safe keeping’ that blocks idols from fandom that truly makes Namjoon a great leader.
It’s his genuinity (Virgo) plus his personal struggling to reach out to us (consistently). To make us feel connected and learn/integrate us into part of his live that’s absolutely mind-blowing from a public figure to the public. That calls for some bravery/courage (Sagittarius), as well as genuinity/strength of heart that Namjoon shows he cares for others in such a demonstrative (responsive - Moon) way. (Opening up to others, opening himself up to others - Sagittarius Moon)
That’s why he posts on twitter/fancafes, why he consistently reach out to us. The effort alone, is what makes it truly amazing to be in the presence of such a genuinely kind, humble and openly-accepting man.
Tumblr media
He never discredits his fan, as much of a leader he is to his team he thinks of the fan as part of the team itself.
An integral part of what makes BTS works. This kind of thinking/wave length is applied to how he treats his staff, their dancers, their teachers and those behind the scenes.
Everything is linked/worked together in units to congregate and make one piece of a whole (symbiosis)
It’s all a part of a whole, the universe he builds for himself in order to recreate his own understanding of himself from it. It’s the relationship between people he feeds and feels (Sagittarius Moon) -- it fuels this sympathetic understanding of bonds he truly focuses in on. (Libra Mercury)
Namjoon is a person who thinks of himself as a rational/logically minded, and that’s completely correct. Libra Mercury fuels his mind into making informed, rational decision about things. But there’s also an added layer (sublayer) of reaction/atmospheric attributes he’s receptive too (custom-made/stylized) as well.
Namjoon can’t respond without inputing his emotion into it, whether it be gratuity or embarrassment.
He’s always adding a layer of himself into his responses. It’s part of what makes Libra Mercury imperfect, yet works perfectly with his Sagittarius Moon. It’s how we as the audience perceive his imperfection as perfect despite the frustration it might cause Namjoon himself (at the expense of him thinking it’s an embarrassed flaw -- Libra Mercury being hard on themselves.)
Libra, instead of being completely objective like they aim to be, come across as human because of the Sagittarius Moon. It’s that drive (need- Moon) to respond back-- to give to learn to teach and to add (expansion/excessiveness in expression) that Namjoon can’t hold back on himself either.
That’s what truly makes him relatable and genuine, or come across as such a distinctive leader of an influential group. Because he’s so expressive and is himself when he’s doing so (Moon - his desire/wants/subconscious is expressed outwardly through his verbal/mental Mercury-- in excess sometimes- Sagittarius)
Tumblr media
Also check out this gif-set and notice how nurturing/caring he is (comfort is appreciative, general nervousness - Cancer Mars)

Minor EoA character zodiacs
So I decided to go ahead and try some of the zodiac signs for EoA characters. But I really liked @pizzansunshine‘‘s argument for the main six’s Possible zodiac signs so I decided to do minor reoccurring characters. Which was pretty hard I’ll admit. The zodiac signs can be overlapping so you can agree to disagree with what I think is the best fit for the characters. Anyway, enough of my babbling, here’s what I have. https://www.astrology-zodiac-signs.com
Luisa Libra
Strengths: Cooperative, diplomatic, gracious, fair-minded, social
Weaknesses: Indecisive, avoids confrontations, will carry a grudge, self-pity
Libra likes: Harmony, gentleness, sharing with others, the outdoors
Libra dislikes: Violence, injustice, loudmouths, conformity
People born under the sign of Libra are peaceful, fair, and they hate being alone. As we see, Luisa is a very sociable person from being friends with the palace staff to joining the local Olaball team. She’s like an understanding Abuela to everyone she meets.
Partnership is very important for them, as their mirror and someone giving them the ability to be the mirror themselves. Francisco and Luisa have the sweetest, closest relationship in the series. They are equal partners with respect, trust and love for each other.
These individuals are fascinated by balance and symmetry, they are in a constant chase for justice and equality, realizing through life that the only thing that should be truly important to themselves in their own inner core of personality. Luisa stands firm to following her heart and her beliefs and the Abuela-bear claws come out when she faces someone who is a lying, cheating jerk. Lord Elrod from Princess Knight for example.
Francisco Pisces
Strengths: Compassionate, artistic, intuitive, gentle, wise, musical
Weaknesses: Fearful, overly trusting, sad, desire to escape reality, can be a victim or a martyr
Pisces likes: Being alone, sleeping, music, romance, visual media, swimming, spiritual themes
Pisces dislikes: Know-it-all, being criticized, the past coming back to haunt, cruelty of any kind
It’s a sign connected to music, so Pisces reveal music preferences in the earliest stages of life. They are generous, compassionate and extremely faithful and caring. Pisces are never judgmental and always forgiving. They are also known to be most tolerant of all the zodiac signs. I don’t have to say this but I willl, Francisco’s eternal love is music and we have seen that he is such a kind  man when it comes to looking at both sides of a problem and never gives an unasked for judgement.
Deep in their hearts, they are incorrigible romantics. They are very loyal, gentle and unconditionally generous to their partners. Pisces are passionate lovers who have a need to feel a real connection. Like I said with Luisa, the two show an absolute loyalty and devotion to each other. It’s clear Francisco only has eyes for his wife.
Inspired by the need to make changes in the lives of others, they are willing to help even if that means to go beyond the boundaries. This zodiac sign is compassionate, hard-working, dedicated and reliable. Pisces are selfless, they are always willing to help others, without hoping to get anything back. As we learned in the last Día de los Muertos episode, Francisco was a secret vigilante at a time when nobles weren’t allowed to be in danger just for the sake of protecting his kingdom.
Prince Marzel and Princess Marisa Gemini
Strengths: Gentle, affectionate, curious, adaptable, ability to learn quickly and exchange ideas
Weaknesses: Nervous, inconsistent, indecisive
Gemini likes: Music, books, magazines, chats with nearly anyone, short trips around the town
Gemini dislikes: Being alone, being confined, repetition and routine
Expressive and quick-witted, Gemini’s are sociable, communicative and ready for fun, with a tendency to suddenly get serious, thoughtful and restless. They are fascinated with the world itself, extremely curious, with a constant feeling that there is not enough time to experience everything they want to see. This is a versatile, inquisitive, fun loving sign, born with a wish to experience everything there is out there, in the world. I swear I didn’t just choose Gemini because they were twins. Marisa and Marzel, Marisa specifically, were interested in looking to the human world and were the most willing to mend the fued. Since the joining, the two clearly enjoy hanging out with Elena and co. and learning a little more about life of the shore.
Daria Scorpio
Strengths: Resourceful, brave, passionate, stubborn, a true friend
Weaknesses: Distrusting, secretive, violent
Scorpio likes: Truth, facts, being right, longtime friends, teasing, a grand passion
Scorpio dislikes: Dishonesty, revealing secrets, passive people
Scorpio-born are passionate and assertive people. They are determined and decisive, and will research until they find out the truth. Scorpio is a great leader, always aware of the situation and also features prominently in resourcefulness. As we’ve seen as commander of the reef, Daria is a take-charge woman and when she puts her mind to it whether it is sabotage or protection, she puts her whole effort into it,
Scorpios are known by their calm and cool behavior, and by their mysterious appearance. People often say that Scorpio-born are fierce. They are excellent leaders because they are very dedicated to what they do. Scorpios hate dishonesty and they can be very jealous and suspicious, so they need to learn how to adapt more easily to different human behaviors. What motivated Daria’s actions in Tides of Change was that she wanted to protect Coronando from the human threat so you can say that is dedication to her work though misguided. Plus we see how Daria is not one to quickly spell out her thoughts, preferring stern glares like when Elena arrived unexpectedly at the palace. Also the grudge she held against humans even when Elena proved that they weren’t out to get them but wanted to be friends.
Princess Valentina Aries
Strengths: Courageous, determined, confident, enthusiastic, optimistic, honest, passionate
Weaknesses: Impatient, moody, short-tempered, impulsive, aggressive
Aries likes: Comfortable clothes, taking on leadership roles, physical challenges, individual sports
Aries dislikes: Inactivity, delays, work that does not use one's talents
Aries are continuously looking for dynamic, speed and competition, always being the first in everything - from work to social gatherings. You'll rarely meet an Aries who isn't capable of finishing several things at once, often before lunch break! Valentina is a fire sign, and as the website suggests, she does look for a competition even if it was really unneeded. Yet Valentina just has a natural exuberant personality and need for action. And as we’ve seen, she has many talents from Olaball to wizardry so she is constantly on the job working for her people. No wonder they call her their savior.
Rafa de Alva Taurus
Strengths: Reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible, stable
Weaknesses: Stubborn, possessive, uncompromising
Taurus likes: Gardening, cooking, music, romance, working with hands
Taurus dislikes: Sudden changes, complications, insecurity of any kind, synthetic fabrics
Practical and well-grounded, Taurus is the sign that harvests the fruits of labor. They feel the need to always be surrounded by love and beauty, turned to the material world, hedonism, and physical pleasures. What we often see as stubbornness can be interpreted as commitment, and their ability to complete tasks whatever it takes is uncanny. This makes them excellent employees, great long-term friends and partners, always being there for people they love. Rafa can be stubborn like when she was insistent that she couldn’t help Sofia or that her Navidad traditions were the best or even just passing Avaloran traditions to Mateo under the threat of death. But she is also a very caring individual and a natural leader for her village, and a stable, loving influence in Mateo’s life. And to me, she seems very much a homebody who’d enjoy gardening and the like. Perhaps herbs for magic potions like her father had taught her.
Carla and Prince Alonso Leo
Strengths: Creative, passionate, generous, warm-hearted, cheerful, humorous
Weaknesses: Arrogant, stubborn, self-centered, lazy, inflexible
Leo likes: Taking holidays, being admired, expensive things, bright colors, fun with friends
Leo dislikes: Being ignored, facing difficult reality, not being treated like a king or queen
Leos are dramatic, creative, self-confident, dominant and extremely difficult to resist, able to achieve anything they want to in any area of life they commit to. There is a specific strength to a Leo and their "king of the jungle" status. Self-confident and attractive, and their healthy sense of humor makes collaboration with other people even easier. They are ambitious, creative and optimistic and once they dedicate to their work, they will do everything just right. As we’ve seen that while both are initially very lazy people, Alonso and Carla can be committed to a cause when they put their mind to it. Alonso as he starts to reinvent himself as a better prince while Carla won’t let ghosts or Shuriki or Elena or anyone in her way on her quest for power. And while neither are very joking, both are comedic characters,
Family matters won't be the first thing Leo will think about when they wake up in the morning or lie to bed at night. Turned to themselves for the most part, they tend to become independent as soon as possible. Still, a Leo will do anything to protect their loved ones, proud of their ancestry and roots in good and bad times. As we’ve seen, both are independent but Alonso does have a need to make his dad proud while Carla does care enough about her father to keep following him around and has some sort of admiration for her mother.
The best possible situation they can find themselves in is to be their own bosses or manage others with as little control from their superiors as possible. Leos love to be surrounded by modern and trendy things, and although money comes easy to them, they spend it less responsibly than some other signs of the zodiac. Eh less responsible can be the first thing one thinks of when it comes to Alonso and Carla, for sure. And a love of luxury too. And we have seen that Carla really really hates when people tell her what to do so she is just a Leo to the core to me.
Olivia Aquarius
Strengths: Progressive, original, independent, humanitarian
Weaknesses: Runs from emotional expression, temperamental
Aquarius likes: Fun with friends, helping others, fighting for causes, intellectual conversation
Aquarius dislikes: Limitations, being lonely, dull or boring situations
Aquarius-born are shy and quiet, but on the other hand they can be eccentric and energetic. However, in both cases, they are deep thinkers and highly intellectual people who love helping others. While Olivia is still growing and her personality still developing, I think she could be an Aquarius due to her energetic nature and her pursuit for wizard knowledge. Wizardry takes many years but she clearly has the devotion to studying time. She wanted to learn right away and without delay. Plus she wanted to do it for a good cause and to help people.
Doña Paloma Capricorn
Strengths: Responsible, disciplined, self-control, good managers
Weaknesses: Know-it-all, unforgiving, condescending, expecting the worst
Capricorn likes: Family, tradition, quality craftsmanship
Capricorn dislikes: Almost everything at some point
Capricorn is a sign that represents time and responsibility, and its representatives are traditional and often very serious by nature. These individuals possess an inner state of independence that enables significant progress both in their personal and professional lives. They are masters of self-control and have the ability to lead the way, make solid and realistic plans, and manage many people who work for them at any time. They will learn from their mistakes and get to the top based solely on their experience and expertise. Well I think this sums up her character pretty well as she implies with most episodes that she deserve everything based solely on her expertise and fits with how she made everything she had from the ground up.
Not only do they focus on the material world, but they have the ability to use the most out of it. Unfortunately, this element also makes them stiff and sometimes too stubborn to move from one perspective or point in a relationship. They have a hard time accepting differences of other people that are too far from their character, and out of fear might try to impose their traditional values aggressively. Kinda the whole plot point of Masks of Magic that she wanted the Feast of Friendship her way. More out of her own selfish ego than fear though.
Capricorns will set high standards for themselves, but their honesty, dedication and perseverance will lead them to their goals. They value loyalty and hard work over all other things, and keep associates with these qualities close even when they might be intellectually inferior. Concentrated and resourceful, this is someone who gets the job done, doesn’t mind long hours, and commits to the final product completely. Fits with how she and Esteban built up Avalor’s economic growth and also the only explanation to me on why she had hired Carlos (Sorry Carlos. Maybe you are smarter than I think).
Armando Virgo
Strengths: Loyal, analytical, kind, hardworking, practical
Weaknesses: Shyness, worry, overly critical of self
Virgo likes: Animals, healthy food, books, nature, cleanliness
Virgo dislikes: Rudeness, asking for help, taking center stage
Virgos are always paying attention to the smallest details and their deep sense of humanity makes them one of the most careful signs of the zodiac. Their methodical approach to life ensures that nothing is left to chance. Virgos are excellent advisors, always knowing how to solve a problem. This can make them helpful and extremely useful to have around, but also brings out their need to search the problem in everything and everyone around them. As chief of staff, Armando is the go to person for any problem as we see in All Kingdoms Fair and Model Sister- how handily he fixed everything. He’s very detailed and always has what Elena needs to do her royal duties. Also Virgos are sensitive and critical of themselves just as Armando is, amplified by Santos’ insults.
They will care for people they build a solid relationship with, treasuring them for years and nurturing them in every possible way. An intimate friendship with a Virgo is always earned by good deeds. They are very dedicated to their family and attentive to elderly and sick people. They understand tradition and the importance of responsibility, proud of their upbringing. Armando is such a mama’s boy and an abuela’s boy by how fondly he talks of his time with her in the village. He treats the royal family as his family too and we’ve seen his loyalty to them by reminding Esteban of his roots in Secret of Avalor to saving Elena/Mateo/Naomi/Gabe from chonopos.
Scarlet Turner Sagittarius
Strengths: Generous, idealistic, great sense of humor
Weaknesses: Promises more than can deliver, very impatient, will say anything no matter how undiplomatic
Sagittarius likes: Freedom, travel, philosophy, being outdoors
Curious and energetic, Sagittarius is one of the biggest travelers among all zodiac signs. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes. Sagittarius-born are able to transform their thoughts into concrete actions and they will do anything to achieve their goals. Freedom is their greatest treasure, because only then they can freely travel and explore different cultures and philosophies. Scarlet loves the sea and traveling like she loves air and since she was so adaptable to moving around for work and enjoyed it so much, I think it makes her a perfect Sagittarius.
Because of their honesty, Sagittarius-born are often impatient and tactless when they need to say or do something, so it's important to learn to express themselves in a tolerant and socially acceptable way. Sagittarius is very fun and -born love to laugh and enjoy the diversity of life and culture, so they will easily acquire many friends around the world. They are generous and not one of those who lecture. When it comes to family, Sagittarius is dedicated and willing to do almost anything. In the beginning of Captain Turner Returns, you can say Scarlet was a bit tactless when she was sure that Naomi would get used to leaving Avalor and ignoring all of Elena’s attempts to get them to stay. Yet her family is very important to her like when she tried to get a job at home so she could stay with Daniel and Naomi more and eventually giving in to staying in Avalor.
Now a lot of this is my own speculation. Craig did say that Carla will be revealed to be more complex than she seems. It doesn’t seem like Victor will have the same treatment, but I think Carla’s development will reveal a little more of his character since he was the one who raised her and cares for her.
Victor Delgado Cancer
Strengths: Tenacious, highly imaginative, loyal, emotional, sympathetic, persuasive
Weaknesses: Moody, pessimistic, suspicious, manipulative, insecure
Cancers are very emotional and sensitive, and care deeply about matters of the family and their home. While this is a bit of a stretch, I say that Victor is a bit emotional such as his deep feeling of hurt at Esteban’s betrayal, and his anger towards the world.
Cancer is the sign of family and these individuals care about family bonds and their home more than any other sign of the zodiac. Also a stretch but just based on the fact that he is caring for Carla alone and she is the only one he treats with some decency and very unlikely for him to betray her.
Lack of patience or even love will manifest through mood swings later in life, and even selfishness, self-pity or manipulation. They are quick to help others, just as they are quick to avoid conflict, and rarely benefit from close combat of any kind, always choosing to hit someone stronger, bigger, or more powerful than they imagined. Oh yeah, if we follow this Victor defiantly did not get enough love growing up. He sees himself as a victim even though he committed treason, he is a manipulative thief to his former friend’s family and thinks he can play with the big guns of Shuriki and Fiero.

Every Exit, An Entrance (Part 3/?)
There are two (and only two) possibilities: either she led XCOM to victory and they are now engaged in a clean up operation of alien forces, or XCOM was overrun, clearing the way for an alien-controlled puppet government to seize control of the planet.
She’d really like to figure out which it is, but asking hardly seems the prudent option.
She gauges life by language.
When they met, it was stiff. Formal. He was Lieutenant Commander, and she was Doctor. That particular stage hadn’t lasted long, falling away in light of dinners, good natured ribbing, and a few too many jokes that should have earned them both sharp rebukes.By the time they were traveling, wining and dining in pursuit of funds, it had changed again, a strange mix of private first names and public titles. They’d adapted well enough, the code switch reading as performative to none but the sharpest observer.
He has been Central since the invasion, but the single name has come to hold two weights.
Language doesn’t lie, but it’s not much use in sorting substance from specter.
--
The op goes well. Molchetti mind controls the first Berserker they come across, and uses  the creature to ram through the remaining complement, leaving the rest of Strike One to pick off the stragglers. The Ethereal lies crumpled on the ground by the time Martin puts  a shell through its head. There are a few bruises, and Shen’s team will be busy with armor repair for the next several days, but its as close to a flawless op as they’ve run in months.
So, there is absolutely no reason she should have woken up with a pit in her stomach, a sense of doom just around the corner. Yes, there is the matter of the Council and the research, but she hasn’t been removed from her post yet, so she ostensibly still has time.
She rolls over and buries her head in the pillow. Logically, she knows it is months of stress, anxiety like nothing she’d ever felt before, slowly surely being processed. In the heat of the invasion, she hadn’t had the luxury to digest what was happening around here; this is the natural consequence of that.
But something nags at her just out of reach, a fact she can’t quite recall, a word she knows but can’t form.
Groaning, she sits up, and swings her feet onto the floor. If she’s not going to sleep, she’s not going to waste the time in bed.
There aren’t many places left in the base that feel truly safe. She walks the halls and remembers the wreckage, the chaos, the terror of a few short weeks ago. Her side aches, a reminder that there is healing, both physical and mental, left to be done.
She’s still not entirely certain how the Council was convinced to include an aquatics facility in the base. They’re not technically qualified to engage in anything other than land-based operations, and while she’s well aware of the benefits of swimming as exercise, she can’t help but see it as an extravagance.
Not that she’s complaining, of course.
She’s never been particularly fond of the water, not beyond hot showers at least. She hates the beach and the allure of a pool never quite took hold.
Still, she can’t deny they’re a good place to think.
She blames Central. Somehow, in crisscrossing the world, making nice and begging for funds, he’d convinced her that pools were the appropriate place if you needed a plan.
She’d teased him about it once; of course the Naval intelligence officer preferred water to sensible dry land when he needed to think; he’d been quick to correct her of course. Less Navy, more Kansas plains --- though those two are more closely related than you’d think.
Whatever the cause, she’d spent more time dangling her feet in from the edge in two-and-a-half years than she had in all the rest of her life combined --- almost always with legal pad in lap and pen in hand.  She doesn’t see a reason to change that now.
The halls are quiet; with the die down in hostilities, they can run a smaller third shift. It’s less breakneck, less harried. People are taking advantage of the opportunity to catch up on nine months of lost sleep.
Which is what she would like to be doing, but that’s beside the point.
Pushing open the door, she sees she’s not the only one falling into old habits.
“Commander?” Central asks from the far side of the pool. “It’s four in the morning.”
“I know,” she says, prying her boots off. “I’m not the one in swim trunks, Central.”
“Don’t you have first shift tomorrow?”
“Yeah,” she offers, enjoying the warmth of the water against her bare legs. “But if I can do twenty hours of consciousness on four hours of sleep, I can do twelve on five.”
“And, yet, you’re here, not cooped up with your laptop. This after … what was it? ‘How your landing go? Pretty good it doesn’t seem.’”
“Of all the things that have come out of my mouth in the panic of battle, that’s what you’re commenting on.”
“For now,” he says, pushing off towards her.
She shakes her head. “It was appropriate.”
“Just do me a favor and stop the men before they start calling the SHIV ‘metal husband.’”
She chuckles, watching as he cuts through the water. “I’m more worried about their affinity for taping things to the little guys.”
He comes to rest a few inches from her, leaning his forearms up on the concrete of the deck. She’s briefly relieved to see amusement, as opposed to distrust, in his eyes, but can’t imagine why she’d expected the latter. “They got into the butter knives again?”
“Better. Sectoid heads.”
He rolls his eyes. “I hope you made them disinfect the SHIV.”
“And apologize to Vahlen.”
“That was cruel,” he grins.
“I have to get my fun somewhere.”
He looks up, considering her for a moment. “Why are you really here?”
She sighs, and leans forward, resting her chin on her hands. “The more I think about it, the worse it gets. Plasma weaponry is bad. Interrogation techniques are worse. An elerium bomb,” she shakes her head. “But it’s the things we didn’t develop that scare me most.”
“Meld.”
She nods. “You saw the gene mods EXALT was pushing.  They couldn’t have done it without Meld. If they could disable the canisters, so could the council nations. The mods are bad enough, but handing them Shen’s outline on the feasibility of MECs? Humanity doesn’t have a great track record with ensuring their human experimentation is ethical. The more I think about it, the more I realize how much trouble we’re in.”
“And that’s not even factoring in psionics.”
She nods again, digging the heels of her hands into her eye sockets. “Things were supposed to get easier now, not harder. There’s no way I can let that data out. I’ll purge it myself, if it comes to that.”
“They’ll court-martial you.”
“I know,” she sighs, meeting his gaze. “But I can’t let anyone outside of XCOM get their hands on this.”
And, suddenly, she does know. If the worse comes to pass, if she’s removed from her post, she’ll purge the data and face the court martial. You tasked me with defending humanity. That’s what I did.
For a moment, she considers saying fuck it, and jumping into the water alongside him, fully clothed. She’d done it once before, in the Airbnb they’d stayed in outside of Rome. It had been hot, it had been been late, and the negotiations with Italy had just fallen through. Jumping into the pool solved at least one of those problems, and doing so fully clothed seemed the least likely to create any awkward situations.
It had the added benefit of her counterpart’s reaction, somewhere between amusement and disbelief. Most people wear a swimsuit, you know that, right?
She could do it again. She’d probably feel better.
But this isn’t some little Italian villa, it is a military base. They are not alone, and with their luck, aliens would come crashing through the base again the second she hit the water. She is still the Commander, and he is still the Central Officer, and they do not need rumors floating around.
She’s snapped out of her thoughts by a warm hand on her knee. “We’ll figure it out. It won’t come to that.”
--
She’s reviewing blueprints for the Proving Grounds with Shen when the ruckus breaks out.
“…I know alcohol fucks with your judgment, but I thought you had pickled yourself well enough to be immune to that particular effect.”
Sally.
She drifts out toward the ladder, debating whether or not to intervene.
“S’ a reasonable concern.”
Central.
She should not intervene. She should not eavesdrop. She should go back and---
“Reasonable? Reasonable? Since when do you --- you’re telling me that you think it is reasonable to think that the Commander, who was violently kidnapped and tortured at the hands of the aliens, who was shoved in a suit and thrown in a tank, who got the tech that got us flying, for fuck’s sake might have willingly collaborated?”
She screws her eyes shut. She’s not surprised to hear the accusation, but the expectation does little to take the sting away.
“Torture---“
“Willingly collaborated. Willingly. I can’t believe you. Have you talked to her?”
Lily is at her shoulder. “No one thinks that, Commander,” she says, quietly.
Upstairs, Central is silent.
“No, because you’re too busy down here, drinking yourself to death as usual. Look, I know you don’t trust me much these days, but do you really think Shen would stand to be working for someone she thought might have collaborated? Because I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but she still doesn’t trust Tygan. She’s fine with the Commander, though. Or, hell, you trust Kelly still, don’t you? Don’t you think she might have noticed that something wasn’t right?”
The Commander’s throat tightens.
“Do you think Volk would have helped you if he thought there was a chance of collaboration? And if you’re concerned ahout collaborators, might I remind you that Tygan worked for ADVENT –willingly worked for the aliens– and you still trust him. And over Lily’s strong objections!”
He tries to say something and is cut off by a torrent of French, mostly profane. There is the clunk of boots on metal, boot on rungs, boots on ---
Sally gapes at the two women as her boots hit the ground, the color abruptly draining from her cheeks. “You … heard?”
The Commander nods. “You’re both … pretty loud people. The ship is metal. Things carry.”
The cooler floods back into the younger Royston’s cheeks, and she runs a hand back through her hair, suddenly fascinated with the scuff marks on her boots. “I … Sorry. He … he doesn’t …”
“He’s a shitty drunk,” Lily offers.
“Vodka leaves him talking out of his ass,” Sally adds. “Everyone knows it.”
“And, he doesn’t do well with surprises.”
“Or, the aliens.”
She offers them both a small smile. “I appreciate it, you two, but we all know, on some level,” she sighs. “He means it.” She manages a shrug that she hopes doesn’t look nearly as defeated as she feels. “If he’s got doubts, then this doesn’t work. Divided we fall, and all that.”
“The crew’s behind you, Commander,” Lily says.
Sally’s quick to nod. “She’s right. He’ll pull his head out of his ass. He just has to sober up.”
She shakes her head. “It’s not gonna get better until it’s all out on the table.”
The younger Royston goes to say something, than stops herself. “You’re really gonna go up there?”
The Commander nods, then turns her attention to Lily. “Shen, plans look good. We’ll get started as soon as the debris is cleared. In the meantime, stand by for whatever’s coming down the line with establishing comms.”
“You got it, Commander.”
“Sally,” she sighs. “I’d appreciate it if you could do what you can to keep people away from the bar.”
“Jane’s usually got a plan.”
The Commander nods, and draws in a deep breath. “Alright,” she exhales. “Let’s go start to deal with this.”
There are many things she hates about the current situation. She hates the alien lines and contours of the ship, how tenuous they make XCOM’s hold on the space feel. She hates the odds, an entire well-armed totalitarian regime hunting them down, dedicated to their eradication. She hates the headache that’s been buzzing behind her eyes since she wore up on Tygan’s table, unceasing and unrelenting, untouched by anything she’s tried. She hates that virtually anyone and everyone she’s ever loved is dead, and she is here, absent their company and their ghosts.
Of all the things she hates, though, the one weighing heaviest on her as she mounts the ladder is the absolutely atrocious state of her relationship with Central.
On the macro scale, she knows that things won’t work if he doesn’t trust her. That in and of itself is a matter of no small concern if they want any shot at retaking the planet. That is what should be her primary motivation.
But it’s the micro scale that really eats at her. She wants her friend back, the person whose shoulder she slept on over more transatlantic red eyes than she’ll ever be able to count, who backed her up when the Council questioned her decisions, who went down fighting alongside her when the base was overrun.
She wonders if it wouldn’t have been better if they had just both died then and there. A brief, bright flash of pain and it could have all been over.
It is, she admits, in some part, her fault. She’d pulled them through everything else, but when it really counted, when XCOM had truly needed her, she’d failed. All her theories, all her strategy, all her foresight: it hadn’t been enough.  She bears no small amount of blame for ADVENT, and she knows it.
But I didn’t collaborate.
He doesn’t look up when she steps behind the bar, doesn’t react when she sets a glass of ice water in front of him.
“I don’t know what to do, or what to say to make you trust me,” she starts. “I don’t even know if I can. I didn’t … I didn’t have any say in what happened. I promise you. I wouldn’t have turned on our people like that.” She sighs. “But I can talk all I want and it’s not gonna change anything. I know that. But, if you figure out what will, I’d really like to know.”
She waits, but there is no acknowledgement of her words. After a few minutes, she dries her hands against her pants. “I’ll be in the crew quarters if you figure it out.”
She’d give anything for the ache in her chest to stop.

It was like him to be late, but Toriel did not mind. She set up a campfire and placed a couple of fish on skewers to cook. The rest of the meal consisted of fruits and vegetables that she found earlier in the day, while traveling to this spot.  Toriel stood at the campsite, admiring her work, and expected her friend would soon be here. It is typical of him to show up after, and only after, all the preparation was done. As angry as some would be at this, she didn't really mind. It was just what she had to pay for having him around. She felt it was a worthwhile price for Sans's company.
She had found the odd, and short, skeletal wizard one day while near the Ruins. He had been telling knock-knock jokes to himself while scavenging for random loot, which he would sell for more than it was worth later in town. When she replied to his "knock knock," then laughed at the joke, that was the start of their friendship. The two joked for hours till they were holding their sides from laughing. It was still curious to her that a skeleton could have stitches in his side without muscles, but his discomfort seemed as genuine as hers. They made camp together, shared food and talked most of the night, getting to know one another.
By talking to him, she learned he was mainly out that way because he had been contracted to keep watch for humans. He called the job boring, but had to admit it paid the bills. This concerned her though, as she was also keeping an eye out for humans, but for a different reason. Not wanting to lose this newly made friendship, she decided to get to know him more. When he agreed to work together, she found this an opportunity to strength that friendship and hopefully get him to see things her way.
The first few times he used magic, she was amused by his fun, all be it, unique form of spell casting. If she had to pick a word to describe it, she would say 'punderful.' There was not a single spell he had caste without using some bad, yet hilarious, pun. Her own quick wit allows her to reply to them, turning the few battles they shared into part time comedy acts. Also, no matter how lazy, laid back, and unreliable he may seem, she has learned she could always depend on him to be there when she needs him.
Over time, she found she was enjoying his company more than anyone else she has partnered with in a long time. He did seem set on keeping some secrets though, no matter how hard she tried. Still, they were getting to know each other more and more, and it was clear they were best friends, if not perhaps more.
It would be nice for it to be more. Then again, there were things about herself that perhaps he should know before that could occur. Things that, she feared, could result in him losing interest in herself, that is, if he had interest to begin with.
Some of their puns, jokes and pranks have been nearly, or completely, flirtatious. Though, neither seemed to take them seriously; so, it was hard to say if he did have feelings for her or not. As much as a part of her wished he did, another knew it was more sensible if he didn't. Right now, she really shouldn't be looking to get into a relationship.
And, right now, she needs to stop thinking about that, and focus on something else till he gets here.
To pass the time she thought about making sure her sword was well sharpened and oiled. While she was decided on that, Sans finally made his appearance. As usual, he marked his arrival by knocking twice on a tree next to him.
“knock, knock,” he said in time with the knocks.
“Who’s there?” Toriel replied without looking.
“gnoll”
“Gnoll who?”
“mind sharing some gnolledge on what it is we will be doing?”
With a laugh, she turned to looked at him, “I may, if you let me know why you were so late. Avoiding w-orc again?” She smiled at her friend.
The skeleton wizard shrugged, “i was planning on being here sooner, but i got held up.”
“Is that so? Getting another round at Grillby’s pub, were you?” She teased. Using the log near the fire as a bench, she sat down, ready to hear what he had to say. To tease him, she exaggerated her interest by leaning forward to rest her elbow on her knee and chin in her hand.
“tori, i’m hurt that you would think that,” Sans feigned injury before shuffling over. He sat next to her, but on the ground, making him seem even shorter than he already was. He was half turned to her, allowing for him to face her as he spoke, “naw, actually there was a meeting concerning paladin training that paps wanted me to join him at. it ended up running longer than expected, and he wanted to introduce me to undyne.”
“Undyne?” Toriel hadn’t heard that name before.
“she’s a fish, or mermonster, that will soon be my bro’s teacher,” He then pointed at the skewers, “think those are done yet?”
“That's wonderful to hear, and yes,” Toriel replied, and without being asked, Sans moved to grab the food.
“well, it is actually quite the honor really, considering that undyne is the head of the order.”
“Oh!” Toriel smiled, taking the food offered to her, “He must be very excited about that.”
"i think that is an understatement, but yea, he's excited," Sans grinned. Then the skeleton winked and shrugged, "guess you can say, he talked my ears off about it."
The play on words caused Toriel to howl with laughter. She then patted him on the shoulder, "I bet you didn't have the guts to ask him to stop, did you?"
There was a snort followed by a deep chuckle, "aw, you know me too well, it's like you can see right through me."
The two then sat and laughed before falling silent to eat. Sans gave her complements and thanks for the meal once done, then leaned back against the log. Toriel drew her sword and used her whetstone to sharpen the edge. As she worked she said, "Before we met, I used to spend most of my time in the Ruins. I was hoping you'd join me when I go back to exploring it again."
"in the ruins?" Sans looked back, in the direction they would be going if he agreed. His face hardly ever changes, making reading his thoughts very difficult to those who don't know him. Over time she had gotten better at it, but currently she hadn't a clue what he was thinking. She had to admit though, that skill of his was useful for the few times they gambled at the local pub.
After a moment, he reached into his robe sleeve and pulled out a pipe, "yeah, sure, we can do that." He placed his pipe in his wide grin, and somehow it stayed, "looking for something?"
"In a way, yes. Something I honestly hope to not find," Toriel sighed.
"well, that's not cryptic at all," Sans chuckled.
"Sans, I have a," Toriel paused, nervous about how her friend will react to what she is about to say. Looking down at him, she can see he was looking over her face, brow furrowed. She didn't mean to worry him, but after all they've been through, she feared this could end what they have. This close, perhaps too close to still really be just best friends, friendship.
With a sigh, she finally decided to try again, set on learning what he will do. Still, her fear was reflected in her tone, "Sans, what do you think of humans?"
"humans?" The skeleton blinked, then tilted his head to the side in thought, "can't say i've thought much about them. well, the king wants them captured and executed. but, beyond that? i have to admit, i don't know much about them. well, except, they typically have less magic than we do, being made of more physical matter compared to monsters."
Toriel frowned, looking away, "Would you? Capture a human, that is?"
Sans sighed, taking his pipe out, or away, from his mouth for a moment, "well, it is one of my jobs, watching for them and capturing them." He fiddled with his pipe for a moment, watching Toriel before placing it back. "i'm guessing there is a reason you brought this up?" he asked.
"Would you, instead, protect and keep an eye on a human, if you see one? For me?" She asked. She felt silly for being too nervous to look at him, but she was honestly scared. Instead, she focused on the sword, and watched him indirectly from his reflection in the blade.
"oh, boy, tori, that's no small task you're asking for," he looked away, thinking. Finally, he looked back and winked, "kind of hard to keep an eye on something without eyes; but, i'll see what I can do."
That made Toriel smile and turn her head back to him. A part of her felt she should have known he'd react that way, the other still assumed the worst. For now, she settled on being happy with his answer and she nodded, "Thank you."
"welcome. besides, hard to say 'no' to a woman with a sword, and could easily beat me up if she wanted to," he chuckled.
With a snort, Toriel struggled not to laugh, "Is that so. I should make sure my sword is in hand anytime I'm asking you for something."
"heh, might lose its affect after a while," Sans said with a lazy shrug.
"Is that so?" Toriel mused.
Glancing from her to the sword, then back again, he seemed to be debating something. With a wink he said, "well, it does get the point across; but, i think we're friends enough that you wouldn't hurt me with it."
Toriel hummed, as if thinking, "You are pretty sharp." She sheathed the weapon and set it to the side before grinning at him, "You're right, I wouldn't hurt you like that. Though, what about the other thing you said?"
"other thing?" he looked puzzled, glancing to the side, as he recalled what he’d said. His grin grew a little sheepish and he shrugged, "oh, that, yeah… i mean, i'm well aware you're stronger, tori."
"But, does that mean I would beat you up?" As she asked, she reached over and took Sans's hat off his skull. She didn't want to risk damaging it, despite it's already rumpled condition.
Sans was starting the sweat a little, "uh, tori, what are you doing?"
She set the hat to the side, watching Sans as she did. His eye lights were trained on his hat, wondering what she was planning on doing with it, she figured. This distraction gave her time to surprise him, and she leaned closer. "Well?" she asked.
Turning his eye lights back to her, his pressed his back against the log as he was surprised to see her face so close to his. There was more sweat appearing, as he glanced away, "i, uh, i'm sure you could."
Toriel hummed again and leaned a little closer, "I'm sure I could too, but I think I asked if I would."
The chuckle Sans made sounded nervous and he kept switching between looking at her and finding an escape route. Finally, his eye lights settled on her, "no?"
Without warning she jumped from her spot and pounced on him. Sans had started to move away but she was too close and he was unprepared. Once she was on him, he surrendered and let himself be pinned. Her snout wrinkled and lips struggling not to curl as she tried to avoid laughing. "You lazybones, you're not even going to try fighting back?" she asked while lightly bumping her head against his.
His face had a light shade of blue on it as he grinned weakly up at her, "see no reason to, uh, fight the inevitable."
Toriel laughed before sitting back and helping him up. He was laughing too, and his face was looking relaxed and happy again, but still rather blue. That light blue color on his cheeks was adding to her already growing feelings for him, as she couldn't help but find it adorable.
Picking up his hat she placed it back on his head and smiled at him, "Well, you were right. No, I wouldn't do that. Though, prank, tease, and other various non-harmful means of punishment I may consider."
"i'll bare that in mind," he chuckled. "don't say 'no' to tori, or i'll end up in the pungeon."
With a laugh and shake of her head, Toriel tapped him in the nasal bone, "You defiantly would, though, I'm sure you'll just teleport out."
"depends," he said, glancing away again, "if the foods better than my bro's cooking, i may be tempted to stay."
She huffed, "You're not supposed to enjoy being captured, you know."
"hey, if i'm getting tasty food, an excuse not to go anywhere, and a chance to be around you, why shouldn't i?"
"I suggest not finding out," She giggled, then stood and stretched. "We should rest and get ready for tomorrow."
"sure, i can take first watch," Sans said.
Toriel sighed, "Sans, with how safe it is here?"
"sounds like famous last words to me," Sans winked.
A snort escaped Toriel despite her attempts to hold back a chuckle, "And how quickly you fall asleep? You seem as useful for the task as a deaf watchdog."
"i'll be fine till you wake. i'm, uh, currently wide awake, and i have spells that can help me keep watch, even if i do drift off."
"I know, you've never failed before," she sighed, "Fine, well, I'll see you in a few hours, my friend."
"till then," Sans replied.
Toriel prepared to sleep and started to get into her bed roll. Glancing back at Sans, she saw him watching the fire, looking deep in thought. She wondered if he was thinking about his brother, the Ruins, or... humans. Settling in, she looked up at the stars and sighed.
"sleep well, tori," he whispered.
"Thank you, see you in a few hours," she whispered back. Rolling to her side, she turned her back to him to avoid staring. She was sure by the time she will wake he would have fallen asleep, but still, she felt safe. As safe as she could hope some human might be under his care.
Closing thoughts: There, my part done. I’d like to visit this world again eventually. But for now, I have many other things to write or edit.

Unforeseen Chasm (Part 20)
Prompt: Two sisters fall for men that are absolute enemies. The love they have could tear all of them apart, or it could bring them together.
Word Count:2908
Warnings: Language
Song: This Feeling - The Chainsmokers

“That’s it, listen to the sound of my voice,” you cooed as you and Loki sat cross-legged on the rug, trying to meditate. “Try to remember the first memory of Thor. Your first truly happy memory.”
“When I stabbed him after pretending to be a snake?” he asked, his eyes closed as he smirked.
“No, I mean more of a time you two were equals. Fighting side by side. Perhaps he covered for you when you stole a cake at a feast?” you tried.
Loki kept his eyes closed, trying to remember. “Nothing. Y/N, I am getting nothing,” he finally said, sighing and opening his eyes. He got to his feet. “This isn’t working. We’ve been at this for two weeks.”
“And giving up will not help. It’s not like we have much of anything else to do,” you said, gesturing around.
Loki got closer to you and wrapped an arm around your waist. “I could think of a thing or two we could do instead of this,” he said in a low voice.
You smiled at him but put your hands on his chest. “While that is fun, it isn’t exactly helpful, is it?”
“I don’t know, a jarring bed helps clear the mind,” he said, bending down and biting your ear, making you laugh.
“Are you two done?” Tony’s voice suddenly asked, irritated.
You jumped away from Loki, startled. Loki simply glared at Tony and left the room, trying to get to the other side of the apartment where he wouldn’t be seen.
“Tony,” you greeted as kindly as you could, surprised to see him.
“Just checking in. Need anything?” he asked, his eyebrows raised.
“Don’t suppose my freedom is an option?” you joked.
“No, it’s not. If I have it my way you’ll never know what sunlight looks like again,” he promised. “Anyway, need anything? A book? Paper? Toiletries?” He began walking around the outside of the cell, probably examining it for any tampering.
“A notebook and some pencils and pens would be nice,” you tried in a meek voice.
“I can arrange that,” he simply said. “Anything else?”
“How is Shannon?” you blurted out, desperate to know about her.
“Oh, so now you suddenly care about her wellbeing?” he questioned, irritated. “She’s fine, no thanks to you.”
“Is she… does she ask about me?” you wondered, stepping closer to the glass.
“Nope. Not once,” he said, satisfaction flashing across his face at the sign of your pain.
You nodded. “That’s fair. Could you tell her… that I miss her?”
“As a matter of fact, I can’t. I won’t tell her about you at all, unless she asks,” Tony informed, his hands behind his back, gloating. “I’ll do my damndest to make sure she forgets you’re 100 stories below ground…”
Your eyes drifted to the floor. “Tony, I’m sorry,” you said, so much emotion in your voice, but remorse ringing the most. “I… I didn’t want to hurt you or her.”
“Just collateral damage for Reindeer Games, huh?” he asked, gesturing vaguely behind you. “You know, I never pegged you for a woman to lose her head over a guy, but I guess I was wrong,” Tony said, shrugging, frowning at you.
“I didn’t lose my head… I fell in love,” you answered simply.
“Yeah, with possibly the most crazy and vindictive prick I’ve ever met,” Tony retorted. “The people we fall in love with shows a lot about our own character, Y/N/N.”
Your eyes flashed to him. “Yeah, you need to remind Shannon of that,” you said pointedly as you eyed him up and down.
“I will, because.. You know, I’m free and all, and not a criminal, and I can see her every day.” He flashed you a smile and started to walk away. “Paper and pens, got it. You’ll get it sometime in the next month,” he called over his shoulder as he walked away.
Even watching Tony walk away from you hurt like hell. In a split second, Loki’s hands were on your shoulders, comforting you before you turned and wept into his chest as he held you.
------------------------
Loki woke in a pool of cold sweat, sitting straight up. He made no noise other than a slight gasp.
“Darling?” you asked as you sat up with him. “Are you alright?”
He shook his head. “I had a nightmare. Thanos found us… He came for you… And he… He killed…” He broke off, staring at you with wild eyes before grabbing at you and gripping you tight before crying. You let him sob, get all of his fear and grief out.
“It’s okay, he can’t get to us. I’ll protect you,” you vowed as you soothingly stroked his back.
----------------
In the following weeks, you worked more and more with Loki. You tried to get him to remember good things. To remember that he and Thor were equals. Slowly, he was coming out of it. The brainwashing was slowly washing away. The cruelty of this Loki was ebbing away to the gentle, clever, and sweet Loki you knew and loved.
You’d asked for the paper to write Shannon a letter. You wrote on it every day, adding to it, elaborating. You were explaining your life just before the fall, up until the day you were put in this prison. The brainwashing, the torture, the ultimatum, the reasons behind all of your actions. You would hope she would read it and understand.
By now, it was over twenty pages long. It detailed why you jumped. It detailed that you fell in love with Loki a month before the fall. You explained the good side of him. The side that Earth never saw, and probably never would. The side only his family knew. You explained how Loki had been berated and ridiculed by people closest to him. In your short time there you’d seen it. The warriors teased him constantly. Odin hardly let him talk. The only real good in his life was Frigga.
You explained that while you were with Loki in the library, riding, in the forest, on the training field, he wasn’t this evil monster that was filled with jealousy and hate. He was just a man, wanting to be seen as the equal he deserved. And you saw him as that, as an equal. Your equal, Thor’s equal. Any one with a good heart, he was their equal.
You jumped, because you were in love with a man that truly understood you. A man that knew what it was like to be overlooked. A man that could make you laugh. A man that got lost in your voice as you went on and on about physics. A man that seemed to take great joy in your fascination with magic.
Then you fell deeper in love when he selflessly took the brunt of the torture and manipulation just so you would be left unharmed. When you begged him to let you take it, he refused.
He risked everything by letting you go to Shannon and apologize. He knew he was risking his own life if you all should fail, but so long as you were happy, what did it matter?
This was the side you wrote about in your letters.
Then you went on to explain just how awful it was living under Thanos’s rule. How he treated you almost like a daughter -- fitting, that a man who wanted to ruin the universe would see himself in you. Not your foster parents, not Frigga and Odin, not Diane and Tom -- no, the most sociopathic man you’d ever met, decided to spare you, take pity on you, and take you under his wing as if you were his daughter.
You told her all about Thanos, at least what you knew. You knew he was homicidal and uncaring. You weren’t sure about his overall plan, at all. All you knew was your instructions and that was it.
The letter explained why you could do the horrible things you could do to her. How even though it ripped a hole in your heart, that stabbing her in the leg was far better than Loki, you, Tony, the Avengers, and everyone else - dying. Collateral damage, to ensure that you and Loki ruled Earth, and that ultimately those you loved stayed safe.
Loki’s motivations might have been slightly… different than your own, but both of you knew, both of you were aware just how much was at stake if you lost. That’s why all sentiment had to be lost.
And yet, you still could not do it. You could not fight Tony with the intent to hurt. You couldn’t fight Shannon with the intent to kill.
But most importantly, the letters told Shannon how much you loved her more than anything in this world. No amount of brainwashing, or threats could make you forget how much she meant to you. The letters said how sorry you were, and that you did all of this, just to save her. If you failed at everything else, at least you were able to save the people you loved from that murderous being in space… for now. And that was all that mattered -- that they were safe.
----------------------
Tony arrived for his biweekly check up. It was his fourth visit in total, meaning eight weeks had passed since you’d been put in this upscale prison cell. By now you were used to the fact that Tony, and anyone else with access to JARVIS could see what you were doing at all times.
But you didn’t care. What were they going to hear? You writing? Loki reading? The two of you sleeping? That had to be enthralling for the viewers…
“Need anything?” he greeted. Clearly his utter contempt for you and Loki had not subsided. Loki never spoke to Tony, nor Tony to him.
“Could we have five more books?” you asked, at this point you hated sounding like a begging child for scraps.
“Sure. Any particular ones?” Tony asked.
You held up a list.
He rolled his eyes. “Read it to JARVIS later and I’ll get it. Anything else?”
“Could we have a handful of things so we can cook? It would be nice to have some variety for down here or if we get hungry at midnight?”
Tony thought for a moment. “Give me two fruits you want stocked, and give me some ingredients for some recipes and I’ll see what I can do.”
“Thanks.”
“That it?” he questioned, nearly through with his walk through of checking for tampering.
“Uh, no…” You used your powers of concealment and showed him the bundle of letters. “Could you take these to Shannon?”
He looked at the letters for a second too long, then looked up at you and told you a flat, “No.”
He already began to turn and walk out of the room.
“No? Tony! Wait, what the hell? Don’t I deserve to know why?” you asked, frantic.
He spun back to face you, rage evident in his expression, making you take a few steps back from the glass.
“No! No you really don’t deserve to know anything about Shannon! She doesn’t deserve this shit. So no, I won’t give her your letters.”
“Fine! You selfish ass,” you said, angry at him for refusing to deliver the letters.
He took several more strides toward the glass wall until he was right next to it. “Selfish? I’m selfish? I’m only thinking about her. If I give these to her, they’ll break her. I’m not doing that. I am not watching her go through that.”
“You have no idea what’s in them,” you argued evenly.
“Doesn’t matter. If they somehow magically explain that it wasn’t all your fault, she’ll feel guilty and want to free you -- which we can’t do. If it’s more blind resentment towards her, or me, or anyone else, it’ll just crush her. So either way, it’s a lose-lose.”
On that, he spun and left before you could beg further.
---------------------------
Another four weeks slipped by, and still, nothing from Shannon. When you asked Tony about her, he simply said, “She’s fine.” That was all he would ever say to you. No matter what you asked him, when you asked him, that was his only response.
Part of you wondered why she never came down here herself. Did she really hate you that much? Why couldn’t she just listen to you?
Other than Tony’s visits, and the occasional food and goods drop from one of his workers, you were entirely alone with Loki. Which, in many odd ways, was good. The two of you hardly had much alone time when you were on Asgard, and never alone unless it was night in that godforsaken hut you lived in on Sanctuary (a name unbefitting the elements, mind you). Then, the plot to take over Earth took place and you barely saw him.
Now, now that you two had no freedom, and were bound together in here, you got to know each other even more. It was like domestic bliss on house arrest. Not ideal, but at any rate, it got you some time to fall more in love.
And it granted you more time to get that brainwashed bullshit out of his head. Each day was a small step closer to victory for you, and for him. He slowly came up out of the cruel, wild, mess of a man he’d been turned into and was slowly turning back into your Loki.
If your fate was to be left in a cell with this man for the rest of your life, then so be it. There were fates much worse than this. In fact, this wasn’t bad at all. It was almost like Heaven -- save for lack of freedom, friends or family, at least you had him.
--------------------------------
Tony returned for another visit, and asked if you needed anything. It was at this time that Shannon, nearly one-hundred-fifty stories above you, asked JARVIS where he was.
“JARVIS, where is Tony?” she wondered idly as she worked on soldering a motherboard.
“I believe he is at Mr. Loki and Ms. Y/N’s holding cell,” the AI informed.
Shannon stood straight up. “He--what?” she asked, perplexed. “Show me.”
On command, JARVIS turned on the video of your holding cell, the outside camera where Tony stood.
“Okay, you want a board game?” Tony asked, confused and Shannon looked on. The tiniest of smiles played at Shannon‘s lips. Of course you would want a board game. That’s typical. And of course Tony would think it was an odd request.
But then the reality of the situation hit her. Why was Tony even down there? How long had he been going down there? What was he doing?
“Yeah, Monopoly. It’s fun and it’ll take up some of our time,” you tried with a shrug.
“I don’t think a game about owning and domination and money is best for the Wannabe King,” Tony remarked.
You rolled your eyes. “Fine, Twister.”
“Hell no. That is basically foreplay, and I’m not watching that unfold on my surveillance.”
Again, you rolled your eyes. “Fine, then what do you suggest?”
“Checkers?”
“God, you’re so boring,” you said with a slight laugh. “Please, Tony? Something for entertainment other than books and writing?”
“I’ll see about getting you some family friendly, non-dictator-y games,” he promised. “Anything else?”
Your powers of concealment kicked in again as you revealed the large stack of letters. “Give these to Shannon?” you requested in a soft, desperate voice.
“No,” he firmly said again. This was the third time he’d denied you.
“Tony. Please. Don’t you think she should be able to make the decision for herself? Let her read them. If she still hates me, fine, if she doesn’t then…”
“Then I have to pick up the pieces when you choose that Asgardian asshole over her, again,” he stressed, pointing to Loki who was standing in the kitchen. You turned back to look at him for a moment before sighing.
“That won’t happen.”
“And what guarantee do I have?” he asked, as if your promise were absurd.
“I’m locked in a fucking cell, Tony. What could I possibly do to her? I don’t get to see her. The letter isn’t malicious. Read it if you fucking want, I don’t care. I don’t care if you publish it in the New York Times, just make sure she reads it!” you begged.
“No,” he said again in a low firm voice, his hand making a cutting motion in the air. “And if you ask me about it again, I will go in there and burn them.” He turned abruptly and started to storm out.
“Tony… Tony! Tony!” you shouted after him, putting the letters on the glass. “Please!”
But he wouldn’t respond to your pleas. He left the same doors he always did, and they slid shut behind him.
His rejection, turned into pain, and your pain, turned to rage. You used your dark energy to pick every piece of furniture up and throw it, screaming as you did so.
All the while, Shannon watched it unfold.
Moments later, the elevator opened to the lab, where a happy Tony stepped out and walked over to Shannon.
“Hi, dear,” he greeted sweetly. He was about to kiss her when she pulled back, revealing the video footage she’d been watching. His eyes went from the video to her, panic in his eyes.
