since it is clear to all my favorite episode is my namesake i'm going to outline some of my favorite things about remedial chaos theory.

everything leading up to the Darkest Timeline scenario. before we get to the darkest timeline, several time bombs are planted. we as an audience gradually learn about these but the characters' knowledge of them resets with every new timeline. for one, annie's gun is only adressed in the first timeline. then, in the second timeline when shirley storms out, we become aware of the fact that when the door is slammed hard enough, the rolling boulder model is triggered. further, we learn about britta smoking, pierce bringing alcohol, and the troll doll and its effect on troy. all of these things come to a head in the darkest timeline. troy leaves hastily because he doesn't want to miss anything therefore slamming the door, which triggers the indiana jones model. then the rest follows. it's genius because the chaos was unpredictable but as the audience we recognize all the elements that make it that way.

in every timeline, pierce makes a joke involving eartha kitt. the comedy of it is that every time, the segway he employs is more outlandish. it seems like a gag until jeff's timeline comes up. when jeff leaves to get the pizza, pierce in fact does not make the joke, showing us he was doing it to impress jeff the whole time, offering character insight.

jeff hits his head on the ceiling fan in every timeline. again, it seems random, until at the end annie deems it as 'karma'. we realize then, that jeff hitting his head throughout all the timelines was a karmic punishment this whole time, because he was being unfaithful in his pizza-getter divising system which governed the timelines in the first place.

there is a lot to be said about the implications about what happens when a certain group member leaves. troy's leaving causing the darkest timeline has been thoroughly discussed. what i find most interesting about this particular fact is that the timelines are not real, or so they are denoted. it is emphasized over and over again that abed is the one making up the timelines. therefore we can assume his subjective opinion influences the outcomes of the timelines. we could even assume that the whole episode takes place in his brain. it gives a lot of weight to the significance of troy leaving. in any case, it's not just that particular timeline that's interesting on this front.

when abed leaves to get the pizza, every pairing in the study group has some form of a heart-to-heart and then a disastrous outcome of that very moment resulting into a fight. they go through emotional rollercoasters, maybe more so than they have all episode. it is interesting to note that abed's departure allows the study group to access their emotions more freely, whether they be positive or more negative. it's intriguing how abed assuages these intense emotions, and how these kinds of emotional confrontations would have never happened with his being there.

the timeline where jeff leaves is also fasinating as it clearly illustrates how the group will still have fun without jeff, maybe even more so when he's gone. this is also shown in s03ep01 but becomes even clearer here. the group becomes more carefree, cheery. 

the prime timeline, the one where jeff gets the pizza, is when abed catches the die. this scene is hilarious because none of the study group members have experienced the timeline scenarios as we the audience have because they are in fact living their lives in the timeline as is considered normal. this is what makes it extra funny that they indulge abed in his lengthy verbose speech. they really like each other a lot. it's cool.

anyways, this episode is my very favorite ever and i could talk about it forever.

This is sort of a rant. I have nowhere to express this but here. It's about a content creator who does little skits with their cats, who I have to stop following. Trigger Warning: discussion of religion.

I saw a random video from this Content Creator (from now on known as CC) about 2 years ago, I thought it was hilarious, I loved it and watched a lot more of the videos and followed them.

CC posted a serious video in which they told some of their life story. The relevant part is that they were raised in an extremely strict religion, started rebelling against the rules in middle school (ages 10 to 13), for instance, as a female in that religion, they were only allowed to wear dresses and skirts. So they bought jeans and changed into them at school then changed back after school, so that their parents would not know that they were wearing jeans. Then they married at 17 and broke other rules of the religion; cut their hair, wore make-up, stopped going to church, got tattoos, etc. And they felt very happy and free. This wasn't the main theme of the video, but it was part of it. It really touched me and I said so in the comments.

They began having a terrible problem with imposter accounts over a year ago. They were popping up everywhere, stealing content, and CC could not get them removed from the platforms they were on. This situation got worse, CC hired a lawyer, copyrighted their name and logo, still nothing really helped and this was costing CC a lot of money and causing them a lot of stress. They say it was all they could think about.

A year ago, CC announced that they would no longer swear in their videos. That was fine with me, to each their own, I was sure the vids would still be funny.

A few months ago CC announced that some major things that were part of the cats' 'personalities' were going to change. That was kind of concerning, but I thought I would just keep following and see how the videos were.

Today, CC posted a video explaining the changes more thoroughly and announcing some life changes that they had gone through.

The imposter accounts were really very upsetting, to the point where it became a crisis of faith. Other things happened but the final outcome was that they felt God was testing them. So they rejoined the restrictive religion they were raised in. They threw out all of the previous merch that had "unholy" sayings on it. They threw out everything that they had bought at garage sales or antique stores (because they didn't know where it had come from?). They rejoined a church of that religion. And now they are going to stop wearing make-up, stop cutting their hair, wear dresses and skirts, and they regret having gotten tattoos. They are going to stop listening to any music that is not Christian or gospel (that will also affect the 'personality' of one of the cats).

They said that after they did all of that and started attending church again, their cats started getting sick, because 'after you go back to God the devil will really go after you', that's not an exact quote but something like that.

Now, I don't understand, logically, why God wouldn't help with the imposter accounts, because that was a test, but their cats getting sick was because of the devil, who is doing it because they are religious now? And, God still hasn't done anything about the imposter accounts, though it seems they have passed the test?

So is it God or the devil who is causing negative things in their life? Why would God allow the devil to attack innocent cats and make them sick? The cats have been sick before, is that because they got their hair cut or were wearing jeans? Because they weren't religious yet, so it wasn't the devil then, right? If this decision makes CC happy, I'm glad, and what they do does not affect my life, I am not criticizing their decision. But I sincerely do not understand how this works, or what one thing has to do with another.

I would love to be able to ask them these questions, but I don't want them to feel attacked, and there will be others expressing the same sentiment to them, though probably not as politely as I would. Also, their answers would certainly not make any more sense to me than all of this does in the first place. They have their own rationale, they've made their decision, it makes sense to them and this is it.

So the reason that I am sad, and have to stop following them, is because when I see them with their new look, I see a person who has decided to live their life in fear, not in joy. Apparently, they are happy with their new life, and if so, good for them. But to me, they have built walls around themself of restrictive rules, because they think it will protect them from the outside world, or get God's attention, so that God will protect them, but it hasn't seemed to protect them from anything. I will miss them and their cats. But I can't help what I see and how it makes me feel, and I just can't watch that go on.

I appreciate all the advice given here and by freakattack, though I am swallowing it bitterly because it's stuff I heard before and tried to abide. I've been converting experiences I had in the Ana Diary, and what I've experienced has been influencing what I've drawn. Though I feel a factor in my struggles is that my life is hecking boring due to being a sickly generally isolated person so I been also adapting stuff I learned in college and humorous posts I found online. And well there's expanding on stuff that happened in canon too.

But apparently what I do isn't cool because I had people tell me indirectly that what I drawn and wrote is creepy. And honestly, they got a point and I gotten too paranoid to actually draw what makes me happy due to that criticism and knowing that some things kids do and say so well...let's just say that kids say and do the weirdest things and a part of me finds that stuff hilarious and relatable. Maybe the loneliness is warranted and I deserve it for being a creep.

But that's a load of negative self-talk, and I am wallowing in it because I generally can't get over 20 notes for stuff that people only poke at. Immature ain't it? I did find some success in the after-mentioned diary, but I just get jealous that people talk more about the way more talented people who have fans. The consequences, the warmonas, the ashkets, they're all influential. I'm just nothing. Just a freaky nothing who likes a baby ninja from WarioWare.

There's so much wrong here but first of all, there's nothing wrong with having a fetish. End of statement. If you engage in your fetish in a way where you and anyone else involved comes away from it happy and fulfilled, I do not give a fuck what you're doing behind closed doors.

As for BIID, she didn't mention the outcomes of the two patients who underwent the surgery with that doctor, nor did she mention the outcomes of any other person with BIID who has successfully achieved their goals. I sure as hell can't speak definitively on it either; I've read news articles and everyone in those stories was completely happy with what they'd done to themselves. But that's probably a biased sample group; I imagine anyone who regretted their choices wouldn't be as open to speaking about it.

Basically: there is very little research into BIID because it's so goddamned taboo to even think about, but people who HAVE spoken on it are completely happy with their choices.

This might seem weird to admit but I've had daydreams about going blind or deaf, needing a wheelchair, or losing a limb, and enjoying it, and how I'd live and adapt. I bet a LOT of people have such daydreams, but we're all told it's "gross" and "mentally disturbed" and "mutilation" etc etc, so no one ever talks about this shit.

I also think about voluntary body modification from a sci-fi perspective. If I lived in a cyberpunk world or a future world where cyber limbs were a thing, would I voluntarily go hack off a healthy limb to get a cool robot arm?

Fucking yes I would.

And maybe that's related to my perspective as a trans person who is already completely comfortable with the idea of more "extreme" forms of body modification beyond tattoos and piercings. I don't have any problem with people who get dermal implants or do scarification or who get surgery to turn their ears pointed or who split their tongues, or top surgery or bottom surgery etc etc.

IDK man, my perspective is, it's their body, let them do whatever the fuck they want to it.

Foster Household: Chapter 6, Part 2

Reece is trying to practice football as much as he can before he actually has a practice to attend.

Happy to report I clocked both Paris and Deanna still crushing on each other despite it being several in game weeks since I played Deanna's household. They are so adorable. Fingers crossed the sentiments stick around for when I next get back to the Yorks.

Cannot emphasize enough how less creepy the teddy is than the doll.

This week's holiday is named Is It Spring Yet. Occurring on the last Sunday of winter, goals include healthy cooking, fasting and exercising. It's meant to be the opposite side of the coin to Food Coma day, and I was hard pressed to think of 16 legit holidays.

idk if you are into tarot cards but I've been thinking about which tarot card fits which character in ons & putting aside the obvious sun moon star world, I think the devil card really embodies guren while the temperance is so shinya in his life & mahiru being the tower to him. If you get time to look up the meanings & what these card means to one another then I would like to know your thoughts even if you associate other cards with them I am interested to know your views as you always come up with angsty gureshin analysis I love reading them. :D

hellooo! :D sorry this took so long, but my knowledge of tarot cards was essentially zero so i had to do some research. i read up on the three you mentioned and then also on the sun & the moon because they did pique my interest as well. and i like your thinking!

just looking at the card of the devil itself is already enough to link it to guren. it represents your raw instincts and giving in to those pure unfiltered desires. the balance between good and evil. that's very guren. he has a pure heart, he has noble goals and yet there was no choice for him but to fall into darkness to achieve them. there is no way for him to be simply "good". he could not walk on the right path because he was too human. (there's also two people, a man and a woman, depicted at the devils' side, said to have fallen under his magnetic presence. and if you take that less metaphorically than it's meant it is absolutely hilarious)

now when you actually get that card in a reading, it means that there's some form of negative presence in your life that you've fallen victim to and don't think you can ever free yourself from. most of the time, this means addictions, bad habits or relationships that hold you back from becoming what you're meant to be. i wonder who that could be! but what else stood out to me here was that "with The Devil, you are choosing the path of instant gratification, even if it is at the expense of your long-term well-being". okay. give in to that weakness now and suffer tremendously for the next nine years. yeahhh.

the temperance represents patience as well as staying grounded and calm. knowing your path, knowing the outcome and being at peace with it. and yeah, shinya is definitely that levelheaded counterpart. stay human, stay weak and accept that it will kill you. stop struggling, stop fighting. "bound by the earth and natural law" - "but it's not like i could break free of my human limitations and become some sort of god". (i think it's also cute that the person on this card is an angel.)

... and then the tower is just absolute chaos. realising suddenly and horrifyingly as everyone he loves does that his path is a lie, it cannot be treaded, and he is pulled onto mahiru's road of insanity. he is questioning himself, his beliefs and his purpose. although i can't quite bring myself to agree with the "it's for your highest good" part. the tower says you will suffer but come out of it stronger and better. yes, maybe mahiru's path will lead guren to his goal, but it really is questionable whether it will all have been worth it in the end. the guilt will never leave him, his relationship with shinya is fucked even if a miracle happens and they make up somehow, and pretty much everything mahiru has done to those around her to get this far is irredeemable. so i'm a little split on that end. i wonder how the story will handle it... if at all with the speed we're going at.

i also like the sun and the moon with their naïvety and repressed feelings, but you're right, those other three do fit better!

Why was gender ideology allowed to run amok for so long?

After the Cass Review, we need to recapture our institutions from this cruel, homophobic cult.

Just like that, a trickle becomes a flood. After years of gender-critical voices being dismissed or ignored by mainstream media, they can be dismissed and ignored no longer.

The landmark Cass Review into gender-identity services in England, published today, has laid bare the scandal of the NHS’s treatment of ‘gender confused’ kids. There was never any evidence for subjecting troubled, often gay, often autistic, youngsters to life-altering hormones, drugs and treatments. But clinicians did it anyway, in thrall as they were to gender ideology.

The review is on the front page of the newspapers today. The BBC is platforming trans-sceptical experts – and not just so they can be hissed at live on air. Keir Starmer’s ever-opportunistic Labour Party is saying it agrees with everything in the report.

Of course it’s far too early to be declaring victory, and far too late for many of the victims caught up in this to celebrate, but something monumental happened today. The unsayable has become sayable, on gender at least.

The review, produced by top paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass over four years, is a stunning piece of work: a 400-page triumph of reason over unreason. It doesn’t tell us much we didn’t already know, but it tells us in painstaking detail and with undeniable, data-driven authority

There is ‘no good evidence’, Cass writes, ‘on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress’. Puberty blockers – now all but banned by the NHS – were brought in ‘based on a single Dutch study’. While these drugs are certainly effective at halting the natural march of puberty, and almost certainly have other punishing, physical side effects, ‘no changes in gender dysphoria or body satisfaction were demonstrated’.

Despite this, the ‘vast majority’ of children put on puberty blockers move on to cross-sex hormones. While they are sold to troubled families as a brake on puberty, blockers in fact appear to be an accelerator towards transition – and to sterility. ‘There is no evidence that puberty blockers buy time to think’, writes Cass. ‘There is also a lack of evidence’, she adds, that ‘hormones improve a young person’s body satisfaction and psychosocial health’. But ‘there is concern over the impact on fertility, growth and bone health’. While cross-sex hormones currently remain available to over-16s, Cass urges ‘extreme caution’.

Even social transition – ie, a child changing names and pronouns and ‘presenting’ as the opposite sex – is not without its risks. There is also ‘no clear evidence that social transition in childhood has any positive or negative mental-health outcomes… However, those who had socially transitioned at an earlier age and / or prior to being seen in [a] clinic were more likely to proceed to a medical pathway’.

The tone of the review is detached and neutral – and yet also apologetic. There are some genuflections to trans ideology, to notions of ‘lived experience’, to the gender jargon of ‘birth-registered males’ and ‘birth-registered females’ rather than boys and girls. There’s also a fair bit of irritating bothsidesism. Still, Cass goes about slaying one sacred cow after another.

The claim that ‘trans kids’ must be ‘affirmed’ and put on hormones, lest they commit suicide? This horrendous bit of moral blackmail has been uttered time and again to wary parents in gender clinics across the West. But as many already knew, there’s zilch to back this up: ‘The evidence found did not support this conclusion.’

The stats about the explosion of kids accessing NHS ‘gender care’ aren’t new, either. But they are still staggering. In 2009, the Gender Identity Development Service saw fewer than 50 kids, predominantly boys. By 2016, it was closer to 2,000. Most of them were girls.

The scale of the increase and the radical switch in proportion between boys and girls makes it unlikely, Cass observes, that this is all down to children feeling more accepted and free to ‘come out’. She doesn’t use the word ‘social contagion’, but she does gesture to it, noting that online ‘influencers have had a substantial impact’ on some young people’s desire to transition.

So, after years of gaslighting and cancellations, what has been going on in those NHS gender clinics is now staring the great and good in the face. The question now is, how was this ever allowed to happen?

The review points to some of the more immediate reasons. Namely, the shoddiness of the evidence base for various treatments combined with the conspiracy of silence around this. Shockingly, Dr Cass says her research was actually ‘thwarted by a lack of cooperation from the adult gender services’. ‘I do think it was coordinated’, she tells the Guardian. ‘It seemed to me to be ideologically driven.’

But there is a deeper question here too – not just for the health service but for the media, academia and polite society. These cruel goings-on in the NHS have been an open secret for literally decades. And yet only today, with Cass’s report, is it being properly digested. Mental-health nurse Susan Evans, then working in the now-shuttered Tavistock clinic, first blew the whistle in 2004, after learning that a 16-year-old had been referred for hormone treatment after just four appointments.

2004! Back then, Julie Bindel was still writing for the Guardian, Graham Linehan could still walk unarmed through Muswell Hill and JK Rowling was still a beloved luvvie children’s author, whose ‘controversy’ section of her Wikipedia page related mainly to the Harry Potter book-burnings staged by the religious right. And yet it has taken 20 years – and the demonisation of these three gender-critical warriors and countless more – for the truth to become socially acceptable.

This all shows that woke ideology is the water our elites swim in. It shows that, for our supposed betters, virtue-signalling and being on ‘the right side of history’ has replaced genuine virtue and rational thought. Indeed, they preferred to strike poses against some dreamt-up ‘transphobic’ backlash than think for 30 seconds about what it is they were supporting – which turned out to be the reckless sterilisation of kids who, left to their own devices, would have grown up to be gay. They were the real reactionaries all along.

The Cass Review may not have defeated gender extremism, but it has thrown down a gauntlet. Confronted with the horrendous error of their ways, can our elites now right themselves, or will they remain under the spell of this homophobic, misogynistic and cruel ideology? Are our supposedly liberal, secular, rational institutions too beholden to this ersatz religion to succumb to devastating old facts? We’re about to find out.

This hilariously sometimes expresses itself in an attempt at stoking nostalgia for like 2014 male tears mugs era tumblr. This Is What They Took From You ladies... the true high water mark of effective demands for womens equality.

What these “important” lines of argument mostly have in common is that they’re a well-critiqued element of “consciousness raising” f/minism, where personal traumas or even just icks are expanded fractally to explain all social and political phenomena as this sort of Ur-historical pattern of interpersonal cruelty inherent to “male” psychology... as early as the 70s this was identified as a great way to get an increasingly paranoid and standoffish clique/cult together that achieves little politically. But as a tactic it frequently comes back despite its ineffectiveness (I would even argue that it is and remains the main expression of f/minism in the US and UK at least, despite arguments that uh... caring about trans people or treating sex workers as human adults with jobs or whatever has put it on the back foot), because it is comforting to have some quasi-religious universal explanation for your suffering, even if it relies on reifying a binary & hierarchal narrative of gender much more than it takes steps to dismantle it. (in fact, especially to white or gender conforming or middle class or cis women, changing things too much or past a certain point can be “scary!”, an unexamined impulse that unites many libs rads and trads.)

There are actually a ton of practical political demands that don’t require or hinge on this language at all, and it’s not a coincidence that most of these supposedly “vital” arguments intersectionality has given us less of a taste for mainly propose policing interpersonal behvior rather than creating a scenario where power is more evenly distributed, where people have more autonomy over their life, so individual asshole sexists become less important and less able to flex power over people in their orbit.

And B), which is probably more importantly to address: it’s convincing because it flatters notatively f/minist cis women’s perceptions that it’s both overly-likely and self-evidently ridiculous that someone would call them transphobic, and also that there’s like, outsize risk or consequences for them if someone says this. Which of course, is the classic “I’m Being Silenced!!” line but from a slightly different angle. This feels like an innovation because it’s so obviously a bad faith tactic when you put it that way, but has, apparently, finally found a way to be phrased in barely-progressive terms that have people genuinely worrying again that The Down With Cis Bus will come for them. Anyways sigh. come back to this post in a year to see if I was right. I sure hope not.

Hello there! It’s been a while but I’m back with some BNHA Fluff starring the sunshine boy himself! This is my entry for Anilysium’s sfw Collab. This month the prompt was “Accidental Kiss”, you can find the masterlist with everyone’s works here! 

This idea has been sitting in my wips since September and it was the perfect opportunity to work on it! Hope you guys enjoy it! Special thanks to @vivianvampyric for beta reading, I loved all of your suggestions, baby!

No matter how many times you thought about it, every single time was just as hilarious.

How can somebody as brave, cheerful and fearless as Mirio Togata be as nervous as his childhood friend, Tamaki Amajiki, at the idea of a confession? The same guy who faced the head of the Yakuza without hesitation is currently sitting beside you with rosy cheeks, looking around the park nervously while one hand brushes the back of his neck.

“So, you wanted to talk about something, right?”

When he asked you to meet him in the park during the weekend, you never expected this outcome. It’s almost like you’re standing before a completely different person as he continues to look away.

“Ahaha… it’s a beautiful day, isn’t it?” He asks.

“Ah, yes it is.”

The way Mirio avoids the question confuses you, but it’s the way his hand clutches his knee anxiously, the way he coughs lightly, and the way his eyes avoid you to watch  the children playing nearby,  that makes your eyes widen slightly.

Could it really be what you think it is?

The more you look at him, it becomes more obvious that he’s having a hard time expressing his thoughts.

“We’ve known each other for a while now, haven’t we?” He stated simply as you nodded in response. 

“Yeah, remember the first time we met?” He groans as you giggle at the memory. During your U.A. entrance exam you ended up in the same testing area as Mirio. He could almost hear your shrill cries of embarrassment after he used his quirk in front of you for the first time. “Talk about first impressions, huh?”

Neither of you can stop laughing at the memory, thinking of all the good times from high school as well as the bad, which only helped you grow stronger.

You both went through hardships, providing each other a shoulder to lean on. But maybe you could be more than that one day…?

“You’re sweating a lot. Mirio, are you sure you’re okay?” He just nods quickly, pulling at the collar of his shirt that suddenly feels awfully suffocating. Despite all the emotions running wild through his head, he never stops smiling,  which is something you will never stop admiring, no matter what. It’s exactly that optimism that made you develop feelings for him in the first place.

“I’m fine, I'm fine! I just… There’s something I’ve wanted to ask for a long time.” He stays quiet for a short period. Once he takes a long, deep breath that soothes his nerves, his whole attitude shifts instantly.

With the confidence of a thousand men, Mirio rises from his seat on the bench to stand before you with a determined look on his face. It’s a simple gesture, but it’s more than enough to make the heat in your face grow within a matter of seconds, paralyzing you in place as you stare back at him with the fabric of your sundress clutched tightly between your fists.

After taking another breath, Mirio finally gathers the courage he needed to speak.

“We’ve known each other for a while now, and you’re also one of my closest friends.” Did he just friendzone you? “You’ve always been there for me, from the moment we walked into the same classroom, to all those times we needed help watching Eri. And we never stopped talking even after graduating, and I love having you around.”

What is this weird aching inside your chest? It’s almost like there’s something crawling its way through your ribcage, slowly approaching your heart to crush it in a deathly grip.

“Ahaha… yeah, it’s unbelievable, isn’t it?” You almost want to whimper on the spot, feeling like a small child after being scolded by their parents: Small, sad and vulnerable. It’s too good to be true, isn’t it? That the guy you’ve had a crush on for years feels the same way about you? 

You snap out of those negative thoughts when he takes your hands in his own. They’re much bigger than yours and covered in scars; you can feel the texture of each and every single one, all proof of all his hard work and dedication.

“The thing is,” his thumb traces small circles on top of your hand, making your heart beat faster against your chest. “I want to be more than friends with you!”

It’s incredible how a couple of words have such strength, enough to make the hammering in your chest intensify at a deafening pace that you swear even Mirio can hear. The words stay jammed in your throat, unable to come out through your trembling lips, which you lick nervously.

You’re so nervous that all of your senses feel like they’ve been amplified. Everything sounds so far and so close at the same time. The pounding in your chest, the lively chirping of the birds, the children playing behind Mirio: they sound closer than before, the noises blurring together into an incoherent mess.

“I love how you help everyone around you. How brave and fearless you are. That little scrunch of your nose whenever you’re deep in thought. That cute laughter of yours. I want to—!”

The sound of a loud smack can be heard in the distance, followed by a surprised shout from Mirio. All of sudden, you feel a blunt pain on your forehead as Mirio is suddenly pushed forwards and his face smashes painfully against yours. At the same time, a soft pair of lips come crashing down upon yours and his blue eyes are wide open as they stare into yours. There’s a shrill ringing in your ears as you’re trying to process everything going on.

Mirio’s body is draped over yours, one of his hands pressed firmly against the back of the bench to stop the fall. Neither of you move from the shock, caught off guard by the sudden change of events. Your mind is a cloudy mess when Mirio’s lips finally part from your own, leaving you both in a daze.

“I’m sorry sir!” A small voice snaps you out of it as Mirio turns around in surprise. One of the children from before is standing nearby, holding a red ball with an embarrassed smile. Are they sorry because they hit Mirio with the ball or because they interrupted?

You don’t know, but keep staring silently at their small frame as they run away with that ball clutched in their tiny hands.

“Hahaha...Talk about unexpected.” Once again, Mirio’s scratching the back of his head, chuckling as he looks away in embarrassment. But hearing those familiar giggles of yours makes him look back at you. “Everything okay?”

“You know, people usually start dating first before sharing their first kiss. But that was nice too.”

Mirio blinks repeatedly, processing your words over and over as you stand up from your seat, trying to smooth the wrinkles in your dress after clutching the fabric so hard.

“Does that mean... what do I think it means?” 

“...Yeah, it does.” Your head is tilted gently to the side. “I like you too, Mirio. And I feel the same way.” 

“Good,” He grabs your hands again, slowly lacing your fingers together. “Good. Can I… kiss you again?”

“Mhmm, just be careful of flying balls this time.”

Pleasant Household: Week 1

Things were off to a not-so-pleasant start, with Lilith autonomously slapping Angela.

Daniel and Mary-Sue, on the other hand seemed to be doing quite well. Apparently their relationship is much higher in the clean template version of Pleasantview, leading to this cute moment happening autonomously.

I actually had to intervene and separate these two, because Lilith would not stop slapping her sister.

Apparently, if Sims start work at the same time, they’ll share the carpool, even if they’re in different career tracks. I don’t think we’ll ever run out of things to discover about the Sims 2!

I’m starting to wonder if the scripted events do still work despite, and I’m just not getting notifications for them (Hood Checker supposedly breaks the scripted events). This is THE Chance Card. The one you always get when starting the Pleasant household, and is rigged so that both options have a negative outcome. I don’t know for sure if it was rigged in this particular instance, since I didn’t test both options.

Picked the “Edit” option, and Mary-Sue got demoted.

It’s always kinda freaky when Sims look directly at the screen.

“Why did you do this to me, Watcher?”

I find it hilarious that Angela was the one to steal the family recipe.

Angela brought her boyfriend Dustin home with her.

Meanwhile, Daniel brought home Benjamin Kimbrel.

Mary-Sue and Daniel continue to be sweet couple (too bad Daniel’s a cheater).

Angela rolled a want to become friends with Dustin’s younger brother, Beau. How sweet! I then proceeded to forget about that friendship for the rest of the Sim-week.

Daniel’s sister, Jennifer Burb, invited him downtown. I decided to bring along the entire household, while Jennifer brought her husband, John, effectively making this a Pleasant-Burb family outing (minus Jennifer’s daughter, Lucy).

The bowing continues to spread. And, while I don’t have any pictures, chest pounding has also begun to spread, despite nobody having visited Three Lakes. I think someone may have brought local home with them from school or work during a previous household’s round.

At least Lilith is capable of being civil with one member of this household.

It genuinely surprised me that Mary-Sue rolled a want to quit her job. It’s pretty ironic, given that she’s supposed to be a workaholic. I never actually got around to having her quit.

Lilith got along pretty well with Arcadia Sims here. Somehow, this doesn’t surprise me.

Since teens hardly ever roll wants to do their homework (the closest I’ve gotten to in this uberhood is Lilith rolling the want ask for homework help), I’ll make them do homework if they roll a want to go to college or get a job. Lilith rolled the “Go to College” want quite a bit this week, so she managed to bring her grade up to an A. Angela on the other hand hardly ever rolled such wants, so she has a C+ grade and three days worth of homework lying around.

While slow dancing with her husband, Mary-Sue discovered her passion for Music & Dance.

Angela rolled a want to Obtain a Pet, so I thought I’d try adopting a stray. Alas, just as I managed to get Angela’s relationship with Gracie high enough to adopt her, Gracie left. Angela hasn’t seen her since.

Lilith snuck out with Alexander Goth, of all people. While she didn’t get caught or anything, she was still so exhausted, that I just had her stay home and sleep. Her homework was unfinished, so she was gonna drop a letter grade anyway.

I think we all knew the affair with Kaylynn Langerak was gonna happpen eventually.

Lilith here is on the phone with her grandpa, Herb Oldie. For some reason, nobody in this household knows Coral Oldie. Despite her being Mary-Sue’s mother.

Mary-Sue returned home from work with Ramir Patel and a promotion bonus.

This is one of two times Angela actually did her homework this week.

Daniel rolled wants to Have Woohoo With 3 Sims, Make Out With 3 Sims, and Fall In Love With 3 Sims. So I sent him to the gym to find a potential second mistress. Plus, this shot does a pretty good job of showing how beautiful fall looks in this game!

Daniel didn’t have much luck with Regan Capp.

He took a brief break from womanizing to catch up with his brother-in-law for a bit.

Feeling hungry and having no luck at the gym, I sent Daniel over to the park instead. He went from failed attempts at flirting, to failed attempts at cooking.

A good witch showed up, resulting in this absolutely gorgeous shot!!

Daniel finally has some luck with Marylena Hamilton.

Back at home, we see the return of Gordon Knott.

Angela decided to play her handheld game in the middle of swimming, resulting in what I like to call the “Jesus Glitch”.

Mary-Sue gets another promotion.

I honestly can’t remember why I sent Lilith to the store (I think it was to buy a handheld game), but she ended up finding her calling in Sports while Tina Traveller autonomously joined her for a round of basketball.

Angela catches up with Arcadia for a bit, while another evil witch, Katy Slew, gets randomly generated.

Tried inviting over the Burb family and Alexander so he could meet Lucy. With Gordon still here as well, there is quite a full house.

Angela brought home Opal Raymond. The want to Be Friends With Opal, and later Be Best Friends With Opal, would not leave until they were fulfilled.

Mary-Sue was on a roll, snagging her third promotion this week!

Arthob was my second failed attempt at adopting a stray.

It was Daniel’s birthday, and I wanted Mary-Sue to be there for it, but she doesn’t get off work until 5, leaving only one hour for him to age up via cake before the game forces him to age up. So I decided to let her take the day off. Daniel however still got sent to work on his birthday.

Thanks to actually doing her homework, Lilith finally started doing well in school.

I am very proud of how well I timed that picture.

I figured Daniel’s age up was a good opportunity to get everyone warmer looking clothes for the upcoming winter (not for Mary-Sue though, because her birthday was only two days after Daniel’s).

Clothes shopping took so long, that poor Lilith was too exhausted to even make it inside the house before passing out.

For some bizarre and unknown reason, Daniel got out of bed in the middle of the night, and immediately got back into bed. 

Lilith has been doing so well in school, she’s managed to get a scholarship if she ends up going to college!

Meet Dakota. I gave up on trying to adopt a stray, and had Angela call the pet adoption center.

Daniel got along really well with the Dateable Slob (that’s what that NPC type is actually called btw), Linda Lind, with whom he had two bolts of chemistry. So far, it hasn’t gotten any further than flirting.

Lucy was not very happy to see her uncle flirting with someone behind her aunt’s back.

“Turns out I’m you boss’s cousin, and I’m phoning in a favor he owes me. Next time you go to work Daniel, you’ll be getting a promotion.”

Really not surprised that Mary-Sue wants the dog to get a job.

Because of the way time works when visiting community lots, if a Sim’s energy is maxed out in the middle of the night, I like to send them to community lots until they’re tired enough to sleep the rest of the night. Daniel is hanging out here until it’s no longer considered too early to call Sims. Good thing SimNation doesn’t have laws against loitering.

He autonomously tried to eat someone else’s food. I didn’t even know this was possible.

Now that it’s no longer the middle of the night, Daniel was able to call Marylena to ask her out on a date.

Opps. Looks like he was being a little too forward there.

Now she’s interested again.

I specifically chose that location because I knew they’d eventually want to eat at a restaurant. Spaghetti and mac ‘n cheese seem like odd brunch choices.

Oh, honey. A Family Sim and a Romance Sim could never work out.

These two managed to have a Dream Date.

Mayrlena showed up while the twins were at the shops. This feels so awkward.

Haven’t had the twins interact with their boyfriends much, so it seemed like a pretty good idea to invite them over to hang out.

Mary-Sue’s on a birthday phone call with her dad. This was mostly to get their relationship up enough that he’d show up to her party. I’m not the best at maintaining Sim relationships.

Linda sure was telling the truth about that promotion!! And it came with a hefty bonus!!

Mary-Sue’s birthday. I’m leaving her outfit for now, because it’s the last day in the round. But next round, I’ll take her clothes shopping.

Lilith pranked Alexander with a water balloon, then, completely autonomously, Alexander retaliated! These two have such an unlikely friendship. I like to think Lilith brings out a more rebellious side in Alexander.

If you thought Lilith was turning into the good twin, you thought wrong. She still antagonizes Angela of her own accord.

These two end the week with Lilith getting hissed at by Kobe for trying to pet her. Meanwhile Angela was able to introduce herself by picking Kobe up and tossing her in the air. All of this was without any instruction from me. I guess Kobe just like Angela better.

Re: the trope romcom - I’m really excited to eventually dive into this although it’s nowhere close to the top of my priority list rn. It’s about a protagonist who prefers fanfic to real life and someone who challenges her views on that. To defend herself, she sets out to prove that all the tropes she loves in fics are realistic goals by experiencing them irl, which results in some hilarious outcomes. I really wanted to explore the allure of fic over reality, and the sort of safety net it allows in the face of having to be vulnerable in real relationships. Sometimes that’s good to have and protects us, and sometimes it holds us back instead.

Re: the Mentalist AU, Bellamy is going to be Jane and Clarke is going to be Lisbon. I did a rewatch this spring and was struck by how perfect they are for those roles. Bellamy as the charming one but with darker issues underneath his persona. Clarke as a no-nonsense badass who sucks at being vulnerable, but Bellamy being the one to break through that. I’m assuming you watched the show since you asked, and this fic is going to basically be an ode to Blue Bird (6x22 where they get together), with some flashbacks threaded throughout. I would have loved to make this a multi-chapter that explores them through the years, but I just don’t have the time for that 🤷🏼‍♀️

How do you stick to writing only a few fics with so many ideas in your head? (While also completing @t100fic-for-blm prompts)

In summary….it is hard lmao. I’ll he honest - I completely overshot my capacity w the BLM initiative in regards to both prompts I took on and the admin work, especially since I’ve been back to work full time at my 9-5 since this time last year. I don’t have regrets because we raised so much $$$ but a lot of my own ideas have had to take a backseat and fanfic has started to feel more so like a task on my to-do list rather than a fun hobby to escape into like it used to be.

At this point I stick to only writing my published WIPs and my prompts simply because I have to. I made a commitment to write the prompts and so the prompts have to get done, whereas my other ideas don’t. I also promised myself not to post anymore unfinished WIPs because it just makes it more stressful. Moreover, I want to shift from fanfic to original fic soon and shoot my (very narrow, unlikely) shot at getting published, in part because I feel that’s the next best step for me as a writer and in part because the bellarke fandom is dying out (or in large part, already has). I think any fic writer or content creator can tell you there’s been less engagement, and I don’t say that to complain - it’s just the nature of the show ending and people are moving on to other fandoms.

I also don’t mean to say that my experience writing prompts has been all negative. I’ve really enjoyed some of the prompts and they’ve been a good exercise in pushing myself as a writer to explore beyond my comfort zone. The most recent prompt I published - fall on me (with all your light) - I was really afraid to write because it featured Clarke going blind and I didn’t want to fail in appropriately tackling that subject matter. I was nervous to post it but got a lot of positive feedback so that’s a great feeling, especially since I never would have written that on my own.

To answer your question though, the how is that I usually allow myself to at least idea dump (or outline or write down quotes) into a doc if a story won’t leave me alone. At least that way I’m putting the ideas on paper somewhere, even if I never get around to writing and publishing them. You’re also correct about going for the story I’m most absorbed in, which is how I’ve been prioritizing my BLM prompts. At this point, I just start on the next prompt that I have the most clear idea about and is sparking the most joy at the moment. I figure the overall timeline in completing them will move faster that way.

A huge key to juggling the wips, prompts, and mere ideas has been having an organized place to throw all my ideas as I have them. So if I have an idea about X prompt, I immediately write it down in the Notion page I have for that prompt so I don’t forget it. I’m always trying to think of the prompts and stories in the background of my life so that I’m not left with absolutely nothing to start with when it’s time to write, because a lot of ideas come to me unintentionally when I’m just daydreaming and what not.

Ep 4 - 'I Love Lucy'

My favourite episode of this series so far!

I'll start this one with a bit of a negative rant, sorry:

I do not love Lucy. I don't hate her either. I just really, really want more characterisation for her. I know they're probably trying to keep her 'mysterious', but she's a key person in the overarching series plot and I just think she could be a LOT more interesting. I'm finding I don't really care about her. Alison upsetting and driving away her long-lost half-sister should have been a sad moment to watch, but it just felt a bit meh, and none of their conversations to this point have revealed much about the relationship between them or about Lucy as a person.

Rant over.

Julian has consistently had some of the funniest scenes this series. He and Robin together are such immature gremlins, and I love it. Poor Mike, though. This episode we really saw him getting irritated by the ghosts - and for good reason. Although the email thing and its outcome were admittedly hilarious, if I was in Mike's position I'd have snapped. There's definitely tension growing between him and Alison - makes me wonder if it's Mike, or Mike and Alison, that the ghosts are chasing after in the last episode.

This was a great Cap episode, featuring such moments as: 'Espionage(tm)'; 'nighttime chats with his pillow'; 'ah I see you are being sarcastic'; 'a stick of lipstick-stick' and 'yelling at Lucy in German'. We so nearly got a reveal of his name! Though I think they're going to leave that as a running joke. Loved when he stuck his head through the door at the top of the muscle-man apron. The pillow-talk part was funny but also genuinely quite sad. Someone please give Cap a hug and some emotional support, please.

Thomas was back on his bullshit once again - loved that Lucy turned out to be reading Byron. It was interesting to see Alison clearly a bit unnerved by not having Thomas chasing her for once. I want to stress that I do not ship them together, but I do think Alison clearly has some affection towards him as a friend. Since Mike seems to be getting more and more sick of the ghosts, I wonder if interactions between Thomas and Alison are going to add to that. Mike must know by now that Thomas is constantly hitting on her, and while I'm sure Alison has reassured him plenty of times, we know from previous episodes that he can get jealous. I definitely sense a big ghost-related argument between him and Alison coming up.

Finally, something I don't think anyone had on their bingo cards for season 3 was a Fanny/Humphrey's Body whirlwind affair. It was ridiculous and I loved it. I loved the romantic montage with Fanny's on-brand weird expressions, I loved the ghosts all discussing who her lover could possibly be, and Humphrey's head mournfully looking out the window, deciding to commit to the relationship only to be rejected. Poor Humphrey. It was probably for the best.

I have many questions about the implications of all this. I assumed Humphrey's body was pretty much a mindless zombie but apparently it has its own seperate consciousness? Was this always the case or did it just develop over their time as ghosts? When Julian said 'I've had my d'alliances' was he talking about OTHER residents of Button House or just his exploits during life?

Overall a great episode featuring some top quality Idiots silliness. I just wish Lucy had some more character.

actually i’m just gonna talk about my take on hawkeye + relationships here

i really don’t see him as repressed or reticent or insecure, definitely not with sex, and even with emotional, potentially committed relationships he tends to come on strong and confident, even when circumstances make that completely stupid lol, ie kyung soon and carlye round 2.

Sure he initially hides and has a minor little freakout when he sees Carlye, but that’s like, perfectly reasonable when a man who acts like a cartoon most of the time sees his ex suddenly on the other side of the world. He’s the one who goes directly to her after that and initially pretends to be above it all and over her, and then later he’s the one who talks her into hooking up again despite the fact that she’s married now and she was the one who left him, and seems to believe they could have a future together. He even proposes to her, albeit hilariously unconvincingly. Deep down he may know there’s no real future there and marriage would be a terrible idea, but he’s not afraid to try as hard as he can anyway.

With Kyung Soon he jumps in with both feet despite it being as clear as can be that their thing is never gonna last. It’s a bit of an unconvincing one episode romance, sure, but it tracks with the way Hawkeye behaved with Carlye, and it makes sense for his character. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he’s willing to take risks that could lead to him getting hurt on the offchance it works out or the fling is worth it, and he doesn’t really focus on the potential negative outcomes compared to wanting what’s in front of him in any capacity.

He also has that dumb subplot in Radar’s Report where he came on too strong and comittal with the nurse he was seeing and she ran, which imo was ooc for the sake of the funny role reversal, but more because she was a volunteer nurse and there’s no reason given for Hawkeye to have more than his usual shallow interest in her, than because it’s unbelievable for Hawkeye to pursue someone like that imo.

There’s less canon with Trapper obviously lol, but if you read them as fwbs who catch feelings like I do, then Hawkeye racing to the airport just to see him one more time after getting a goodbye kiss and no note makes perfect sense as part of this attitude he has towards relationships. And sex or not, even though he seems to take the lack of note as a rejection he still tries as hard as he can to see him again, like he’s confident that five minutes face-to-face will make all the difference, which is pretty significant imo.

So when it comes to BJ I think he would 100% be down to fuck if BJ ever indicated he was willing. Even if he doesn’t think BJ would ever leave his wife for him, he wouldn’t focus on that, he’d focus on whatever relationship they could have in the meantime. Honestly, based on his relationship with Carlye, I legitimately could see him actively trying to seduce BJ away from his wife, at least if he had reason to believe BJ would not be completely devastated by that (say BJ’s fully gay and repressed and the marriage would be living a lie, or whatever). The reason he hasn’t already, in my mind, is because when he met BJ he sent out signals like crazy and BJ didn’t respond to them, and then BJ maintained his loyalty to his wife (and had a few no homo jokes here and there, eg: “have you considered the foot?” “I prefer girls”) and so now Hawkeye presumably thinks he’s straight.

All that said I think Hawkeye does have some abandonment issues - like it’s notably distinct and surprising compared to his other reactions to negative circumstances (ie sad resignation when there’s legitimately nothing he can do, manic action when there’s anything he can do) when he insists that once someone’s out of sight they’re basically gone forever.

But in general, imo, he’s very confident in himself and his worth as a partner, as a doctor, and as a human with intrinsic value especially in contrast to the army that treats him as an interchangeable cog.

Kageyama with Plants: The Plants

Okay. So. I do not have all the characters that I want to have plants, assigned to plants, yet. Now, I decided I wanted symbolism for what character's got which plant, but that's not necessarily how Kageyama picks them. So really this has zero plot basis and is wildly unnecessary. I just wanted it. Note: the symbolism listed is not always the entirety of the symbolism, but just the parts that apply. Some parts are well thought out, some are vibes, some are funny.

Spoilers for the manga through the time skip! (Not on match outcomes.)

But here's what I have so far:

Iwaizumi-senpai: rainbow pincushion cactus. Symbolizes protection, warmth, endurance, support. Iwa was a good senpai. Provided support and protection. And created him warmly. Vibes with the endurance and strength of a cactus. Also spiky and pretty.

Oikawa-senpai: venus flytrap. Symbolizes strength, persistence, eccentricities, and new opportunity. Oikawa is an incredibly strong player, a real threat. His persistence is a large part of who he is as a player, but has a tendency to lead into overworking. He's a bit eccentric. He is. Oikawa absolutely looks for new opportunity, he moves across the world to play for another country's team because it is an amazing opportunity for him. Also, when a Venus flytrap fails it tends to sulk for a bit before resetting. Dramatic. But always resets. Ready to try again.

Kindaichi-kun: lucky bamboo. Symbolizes renewal, strength, growth, facing conflicting forces, seeing past fear, peace and chaos bringing about change. Kindaichi and Kageyama have a complex interesting relationship throughout Haikyuu. There's a renewal to their friendship. Change from their fight. Facing conflict. Coming together stronger for it. They both have so much growth that brings them to renewal and peace.

Kunimi-kun: spider plant. Symbolizes mindfulness and renewal of connections. Kunimi is a very mindful player, keeps his stamina in mind and plays the long game. Then of course the renewal.

Daichi-san: weeping fig tree. Symbolizes leadership, unity, prosperity, knowledge, and the link between human and spirit. He's our captain, gotta rep those leadership skills! Unites the team. Helps them prosper! Daichi has been putting in effort from his first year to get the practice and time that his team needed even before he became captain. He led the crows to prosper with their unclipped wings. And having died, he really does connect the human and spirit. Tobe fly.

Suga-senpai: african violet. These symbolize loyalty, protection, admiration, connections. Kageyama absolutely 100% admires Suga. Suga is so loyal to this team that he told the coach to bench him if that's what he thought was best for the team. I love him. Anyway. Connections? Suga connects with his team and his spiker really well and helps teach that to Kageyama. Also, Suga would protect. Chaotically. But still.

Nishinoya-san: scarlet star. This symbolizes protection, success and passion. He's Karasuno's guardian. That just screams protection. Also. He gets the scarlet star cause he's the star. It's mostly green with one little upward spike of red that reminds me of his hair.

Ennoshita-san: baby rubber plant. This is a ficus, same as Daichi's plant. So has a lot of the same symbolism of leadership, unity, understanding. It's just the junior! Ennoshita definitely gets extra points on the understanding front with his understanding of Yamagucchi's feelings and standing in to relay that to Coach.

Hinata Boke: golden pothos. Fun fact, this is my favorite. I have a fake one. ...I think. Symbolizes determination, perseverance, a relentless attitude to chase one's dream. Try to tell me Shoyo doesn't complete embody those qualities. This plant is used to shield negative energies and this sunshine boy does the same. It climbs, which is perfect for how high this shorty can jump. Additionally, when this plant is in a hanging planter, it symbolizes reaching new heights. Pretty solid choice, I think.

Saltyshima: queen's tears. The name alone just makes it hilarious, okay? Also, please know it can be called the Friendship Plant. These two are absolutely friends, but still assholes to each other. This symbolizes respect, success, passion. It can grow alongside others. Also it's rather demanding with it's conditions. I think it nicely represents Tsukki's growth and how he found passion alongside the others. With a little bit of attitude.

Coach Ukai: fiddle leaf fig. Symbolizes understanding, unity, knowledge, leadership. All qualities of coach. A given really. A a bonus this plant has been used to roll cigars. So it fits.

Yacchan: maidenhair fern. This symbolizes hope for future generations, confidence, and fascination. The plant itself is rather delicate and small. Yachi is small and a bit delicate in that she's nervous and easily frightened at first. But she's fascinated by the game and how much everyone on the team works and gains confidence in herself in her place in the team. And as a first year manager? She is the hope for the volleyball team in future years.

Akaashi-san: monstera. Symbolizes respect, honoring elders, and suffocation. (Don't ask me how that ties in with the other two, I don't know.) Kageyama respects Akaashi. For sure. And he's one of his senpai. Also the suffocation bit is funny considering Akaashi helped Kageyama not choke and suffocate at the training camp.

Kuroo-san: kentai palm plant. Symbolizes honor, protection, truth, warmth, aspiration. He's pretty honorable in always helping his volleyball brethren. With defense being Nekoma's biggest strength, protection was a necessity. He is honest, perhaps to a fault. He told Tsukki point blank that he was going to fall behind if he kept dragging his feet. (He's also a sweetheart who wanted to apologize.) He's got aspirations for his own team and his friends' teams. Also this plant has a LOT of deficiencies of different elements that it then needs special soil for so it can get those necessary elements, but just seeing so many elements listed just made me think science. Lemme just break out the periodic table song.

Kenma-san: parlor plant. Symbolizes androgyny, vitality, protection, and means "on the ground." Kenma has vitality, not in the physical sense, but certainly in mental vigor. He's Nekoma's brain! Keeping the protection for Nekoma's defense, of course. With defense being their strength, Nekoma (and Kenma) tend to fight on the ground more than in the air. Also it reminds me of his gravity rant.

Hoshiumi-san: creeping fig. Literally means "good things come in small packages" and "little power house." That's our favorite seagull. Also symbolizes understanding and knowledge. Though he's a bit impulsive and with a quick temper, it's his perceptiveness that always sticks out to me. Being able to recognize that Hinata can likely truly see the whole court in that split second of spiking. Being conscious of how others view him and using it to his advantage. When to go for a hard spike versus a block-out. Also these plants can climb and BOY does he have hops.

Romero-senpai: corsage orchid. This symbolizes admiration and inspiration. Romero is a volleyball player they all watched and admired growing up. It fits. Also originates from South America, which works nicely as Romero's home country is Brazil.

Those still undecided: Kyotani, Asahi, Tanaka, Kinoshita, Narita, Yamaguchi, Takeda, Kiyoko, Ushijima, Tendou, Bokuto, Aone, Chiyaga (plant will be named Broccoli Jr), Atsumu, Sakusa, Komori, and the fan who gives him a plant.

I know he has not interacted with all of these characters, but the point is I want him to and so I will make it happen. I think they'd have fun dynamics.
