So I may have created a trolls AU based the show Julie and the phantoms (which I highly recommend you check out)
In this AU, instead of being a simple boy band like in the movie, they a literally a band, with JD on the lead guitar, Bruce on drums, Clay on the bass, Floyd on keys, and Branch is the second guitar in training. Poppy and Branch are still best friends, and are gonna become a couple eventually, but in the beginning, just friends.
So, without further adieu, let me introduce you, to Poppy and the Phantoms!
Tumblr media
First up we have Poppy (Please don't mind the fact that she doesn't have tail in the drawing, I forgot to add it here but it will be present when I digitalize these)
Poppy is a University student still mourning the death of her mother, who is desperately trying to fix her inability to sing and play music since her mothers passing. She still loves music, but the grief is sadly stronger. When her dad brings up the thought of selling the house in favor of helping her, Viva and himself with moving on from her death, she goes to clean the garage, aka her moms old music studio. Where she finds an old CD, for a band called Brozone. When she puts it in the player and lets the first song play, three familiar ghosts pop out of nowhere.
(Things written on the paper, without my spelling mistakes and some minor stuff I didn't write down)
Lives in the house that John Dory and his new band would live and practice at
Discovers the phantoms when looking through her moms stuff in the garage
Figures out pretty quickly who they are, with Branch being her best boyfriend
They make a band to help the guys ascend and Poppy to mend her relationship with music
Lives with Viva and her dad
Tumblr media
Next up, John Dory
Back when he was in his teens, he and his brothers made a band called Brozone, which, despite was pretty popular all things considered. However, when they were preparing for one of the biggest concerts of their live, they get into a fight about John Dory being too bossy and demanding of his younger siblings. After which, John Dory leaves the house and his family at the age of 17. In the span of his time alone, he makes a new band with some of his new friends. In a short span that they've been a band. John Dory wrote pretty much all of the songs that they sang, and though trial and error, they got an opportunity to play on a stage that has made a lot of underground artists mainstream. However, John never gets the chance to play on that stage, for her dies from a poisoning 30 mins before the show.
(Things written on the paper)
He and his brothers were in a band called Borzone, where he played the guitar
Until he, SpBruce and Clay quit, leaving Floyd and Branch alone (Well, they all lived with Grandma, you get what I mean)
Regrets it, deeply
Wrote all the Brozone songs, including songs for his new band
Also wrote "Unsaid Emily", which was originally named "Unsaid Family" as a tribute to his biggest mistake in life and an apology to his brothers, but renamed it.
Died right before his big performance on the same day and Bruce and Clay
Died at the age of 23
Tumblr media
Bruce next
When his brother proposed the idea of making a band, he had his doubts, since they were all in school and had their own stuff to do, but then again, up until then, he and JD always did crazy things together, and band was by far the most tamest of his brothers ideas. And with everyone else on board he thought "fuck it, why not?". And it was fun for a while, until he noticed how controlling JD had become, always telling him to go practice instead of letting him hand out with friends, telling him to watch his shape, giving him a work out routine for that, Bruce had enough and finally stood up to his brother and claimed that he's quitting the band, to which Clay joined in on, and which prompted JD to leave all together. And soon after, he leaves the house at the age of 16. He rents a small house by the beach, works at the cafe near it, changes his name from Spruce to Bruce, and takes up surfing. Which also becomes his downfall on a particularly bad day, and he takes his surfboard out for a quick swim, gets swallowed by a wave, and never resurfaces.
(Things written on the paper)
Was the drummer in Brozone
Was the first one to declare he's leaving the band and feels like it's his fault for causing the butterfly effect of others quitting as well
Left to live by the beach as soon as he could
Wanted to reach out to his brothers, but only ever sent a single post card to each
Died in a surfing accident on the same day as John Dory and Clay
Died at the age of 22
Cried when they all realized that they're dead
Tumblr media
Last but not least (for now), Clay
Clay was, surprisingly, very on board with JDs idea about the band, despite being the nerd and bookworm of the family. He just wanted to spend more time with his brothers and have fun. That quickly changed when John completely stopped paying attention to Clays interests, hobbies and dreams. And especially with the forced title of "The fun one". He finally snapped when John kept trying to push them beyond their limit for their important concert, the time they should've spent relaxing after all the hard work they did to get this far was instead spent with their instruments like that's all that mattered. When Bruce brought up quitting the band, Clay happily joins that train, and walks out the door as soon as John and Bruce do. And so, Clay leaves the house and goes to stay with his friend at the age of 14. He finishes high school, gets accepted into a very good university, and moves into a dorm as soon as he can as to not cause more trouble for his friend than he already has. And life is good again, he's doing what he wants, works at a local library, studying to be a licensed CPA, and is gathering his courage up to confess to Viva. However, he does the latter too late, for he confesses to her and dies in a fire at the university while saving her, pushing her out of the burning building before it collapses on top of him.
(Things written on the paper)
Was the bassist in Brozone
Stayed with a friend after leaving the band and moves into a dorm as soon as he got accepted into uni
Was going to be a licensed CPA
Was best friends with Viva before he died
Died on the same day as John Dory and Bruce in a fire
Died at the age of 20
Was also in a sad book club
There's still a lot I need to write out about this AU, and a lot of characters to draw and design, but I hope you all like what I have so far! Here are some redraws of certain scenes from Julie and the Phantoms with this crew (again, excuse the lack of tails on one of these, I once again forgot to add them, just imagine that they're there)

Consumed by JATP thoughts. So, it's canonical that people can hear the phantoms make music when all of them are together. But what about just one of them? Could Luke's parents hear him singing Unsaid Emily as they read the sheet music?
Like, I imagine you can't just hear one of them sing/play alone. But the fic potential if you can is off the charts. I have ideas, questions, THOUGHTS.

it's been so long since i rewatched the Unsaid Emily episode of JATP but holy, shit does it still hit so fucking hard
when luke's hiding in the bushes outside of his parents' house because he misses them- misses his mother- and regrets the way he ran off, but was too proud to apologize. and maybe too full of guilt and regret to come back before he did what he set out to do.
but he missed her and she missed him and he wrote an entire song about it and his band sang it together and im just 😭😭😭😭
maybe after his band played at the orpheum he would have gone back. maybe he could have gone back and said "look! i did it! im sorry for leaving but i did it! can i come home now?"
maybe that would have been enough to start mending the gap
maybe they would have had a chance to play more than one song, and maybe the second would have been Unsaid Emily, and maybe she would have known. maybe she would have been standing by the door waiting for him to come back.
but he dies, and the song is lost for twenty years, and his mother never knew that he was so sorry or that he even thought about her after running away, not until julie.
he gets the chance to finally say everything he always meant to say to her, he gets to see his mother read his old words and read the love in them.
im nearly sobbing from this scene again it's so fucking good. so powerful.

Julie and the Phantoms
Tumblr media
Julie and the Phantoms (JATP) is a one-season-wonder musical comedy series created by Dan Cross and David Hoge, with the notable executive production of Kenny Ortega (HSM, Descendants, Cheetah Girls, etc.). With the recent passing of her mom, Julie gets kicked out of her school’s prestigious music program for being unable to emotionally perform. When looking through her mom’s things she stumbles across a “Sunset Curve” CD and accidentally welcomes the “phantoms” into her world. Luke, Alex, and Reggie, AKA “Sunset Curve”, were a boyband from the 80s that died prematurely. After hearing Julie sing and realizing they can be seen when they play their music, they form a new band, Julie and the Phantoms.

youtube
While the show does employ a dual-focus narrative for the heteronormative pairing of Julie and Luke (never “resolved” because (a) the actor who plays Julie is a minor and Luke is not and (b) the creators were hoping for a second season, possibly with a follow-through for the more age-appropriate love interest, Nick) they also use it for the sort of rivalry that Robynn Stilwell discusses in Smash. Episode six, “Finally Free”, presents the culmination of the competition between Julie and her ex-best friend, Carrie, in their back-to-back musical performances. Carrie and her band, or rather, backup dancers, perform “All Eyes on Me”, a me-myself-and-I song dedicated to Carrie’s greatness and high social status. Though their performance is technically clean and impressive, it also solidifies a class and character difference between Carries and Julie: Carrie’s dad is a rich music executive and she is, in every way, a quintessential Disney-fied mean girl. Julie is by no means low-income, but her single-parent multi-child household and the recent loss of her mother do not position her as privileged either. Notably, Carrie is blonde and white and Julie is multiracial and brown. Though never directly stated, one may argue that this intersectional identity that Julie has is the “other cultural aspect” (Stilwell 384) used to provide deeper meaning for the show. Julie and the Phantoms perform “Finally Free” an uplifting song up to interpretation: free from grief, from judgment, from fear. All of the songs performed by Julie and the Sunset Curve boys stand out from Carrie’s due to their emotional depth and interpersonal interaction: Julie interacts with her bandmates, while Carrie’s are solely there for show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
The “inevitable coupling” in this series happens through an inevitable, albeit unconfirmed, grouping. In the first episode, we watch Sunset Curve interact with a waitress named Rose, to whom they gift a CD and t-shirt. As they exit the venue, Luke comments about how big their band is going to be, how much that waitress’s compliments resonated with him, and how excited he is to play the Orpheum. Minutes later when Julie’s looking through her mom’s things she stumbles across a Sunset Curve CD and t-shirt. We’re never told Julie’s mom’s name in the show, but given their physical similarities and how much Julie associates her with flowers, it’s widely considered that Rose was, in fact, Julie’s mom. In the final episode, Julie and the Phantoms perform at the Orpheum, fulfilling the band’s dream, and one of her mom’s. Almost every song the band sings together includes a duet section for Julie and Luke; singing/performing is where most of their connection and relationship advancement comes from. As Stilwell concludes, the creators employ duets and musical cinema to “create character relationships that would take longer to establish through normal exposition like dialogue...” (393).
Tumblr media
With the exceptions of “Unsaid Emily” and “Perfect Harmony”, every musical interlude is incorporated fully into the physical and time constraints of the series, establishing this as a backstage musical. Most of their singing/playing is in preparation for a performance or purely for practicing and jamming together. There are lots of wide shots showing the band collectively in Julie’s garage, advancing the narrative as they perform.

@look-at-those-niceass-rocks and I finished our watch (their first, my... eighth???) of Julie and the Phantoms the other day (*cough* over a week ago *cough*), and like the previous two times, we had some unhinged things to say about it. This one's a bit shorter as we only had episodes 8 and 9 left, but if you enjoy our dumbassery, rest assured, we'll be watching the Descendants franchise next!
Honorable mention: us spending the first 20 minutes of our call trying to find the first two posts because the blog search engine simply Does Not Work.
Captions: [Whimsical music plays] Me: Whimsical music GAYS, OHHHHHHH
*Flashback of the Hotdog Incident (tm)* Bee: Street meat street meat street meat Me: Are you saying "straight meat"??? Bee: NO!
Ray Molina : *is very engaged with his son's ghost dip theory* Bee: The Bandit Heeler energy on this man
Julie: *outside the Patterson's house* Me: Do you have tissues?? Bee: Uhhh, yeah, next to me? Me: Good Bee: Oh boy
*cue lots of sniffling over Unsaid Emily*
Bee: You can tell their prefrontal lobes stopped developing at 17 Me: Yeah, I guess that happens when you die? Brain stops growing?? Bee: hehehe brain machine broke
Julie: What the heck??? Me: Let Julie say fuck! Bee: Of all the characters, Julie should get to say fuck
Me: Finale time! Any predictions? Bee: Oh god, I don't think I could outdo the pink ladies one, uhhh
Bee then spends the next minute and a half being a prophet (in a sense): 1. Alex is going to get a very dramatic on-screen kiss with Seth Clearwater because otherwise I will be Upset 2. In the same way they become Real-or like. Where people can see them-when they play, they will find a way to be corporeal where they can touch each other 3. I think there should be a dance fight with-oh, fuck, what's his name? Evil ghost man?? With his Ghost Cocaine???
Alex and Willie: *emotional hug* Me: WAIT PAUSE. *zooms in on Alex's hand* I think I have that ring. Bee: Riveting.
The boys: *trying to get the PATD opener gig* Promoter: *freaking out* Assistant: *unbothered* Me: A lesbian and an incel are trapped in an office together. Bee: The incel is going to get eaten. Me: And not in the way he wants!
Julie: *having a cry in the alley* Me: I wonder how much they had to pay to keep that Subway sign in the background.
Julie: *takes dahlia from the street vendor* Bee: Truffula tree lookin-ass flower.
Bee: Also I didn't want to ruin that beautiful moment, but all I could think of was "mom come pick me up I'm scared."
Me: this poor tech guy is Going Through It (tm)
Carrie: Been here before Trevor: *Bombastic side eye* Bee: HA that look said, "Damn, I really forgot to parent this girl"
Nick: *Jamming* Us: GO FEDORA KID!!!
Me @ Trevor: That man is going to pass out
Me, as the Boys are appearing: See, I've always wondered what was going on in the ghost club side of this scene, cause look, their costumes are missing pieces! Alex's shirt is open, Reggie's jacket is just gone! Bee: Oh yeah Me: Like it's probably just a storytelling choice to show they're where they want to be via clothes, 'cause this is more in line with how they dress normally, but it does make me wonder what we're missing. Like is there a fight? Luke: *appearing* Me: See his sleeves got ripped off! How and why? Bee: They did that for us. You, specifically Me: *cackling*
Julie and Luke: *crying, about to hug* Me, noticing that Luke's pants Fit Very Well: Not the most important thing happening here, but uh, dat ass tho
After rewinding the scene a bit because it didn't hit Bee in the moment that They Were Hugging Bee: I was so caught up in the euphoria of a good butt that for a moment, I lived in a world where they weren't ghosts
Julie + Phantoms: We played the Orpheum! Me: Saved by the power of friendship! Bee: And this man's ass!
Me: So yeah, that was Julie and the Phantoms, how ya feeling? Bee: Great! This definitely won't change my brain chemistry forever

#24 Julie and the Phantoms
(this ones for you @1mnobodywhoareyou , merry christmas😉)
Plot: In Hollywood in 1995 four young guys are about to break through with their band Sunset Curve and play the venue of their dreams. But after some shady hot dogs, things don't go exactly as planned for three of them. 25 years later, teenager Julie Molina is in grief after her mother's death and is having a hard time finding joy in music again. While clearing out her mother's studio she finds an old cd with Sunset Curve and plays it. Suddenly, three guys are summoned into the room she's in - the ghosts of Luke, Alex and Reggie who died that night in 1995. After some very confusing days they realize they can do amazing music together. But how do you perform with ghosts? And how do you explain this to your best friend?
Years: 2020
Seasons: 1 (cancelled after one season, booo btw)
My story: This is still very new to me, so bear with me, fandom. While speaking about other series, aforementioned mutual talked about this so dearly that I had to try it. I binged it all in one night and loved it so much! It has music, drama, trauma, supernaturalism and love - what's not to like?!
Teachable moments: Oh I think I haven't even found all the teachable moments yet, but there's a lot to find here. The one that touched me the most was Julie's journey back into music and to keeping her mum close to her heart in everything she does. When you loose a close one it's a process to acceptance and moving forward. I'm in that myself at the moment and I can't imagine having to go through loosing your mother at such a young age.
Best character: Luke, I don't know if I have an elaborate motivation for this yet but I just love him and his ever going optimism.
Best episode: "Unsaid Emily" (S1E8). This story with Luke, his parents and Julie is so heartbreaking I cry everytime.
Best quote: "Oh, she said oh. That’s what you say when you get socks on your birthday, not when you’re invited to join the most epic band ever." (Luke)
Fun fact: This one I stole directly from Imdb, but I found it very interesting; "If you notice Jeremy Shada (Reggie) throughout the series in moments of confrontation and stress he will pick his nails. This is a common coping mechanism for people of divorced or fighting parents. It distracts them. Jeremy added it to his character to make him have more depth, since Reggie's parents are said to have fought all the time when he was alive."
If you like this you might also like: Julie and the Phantoms is a remake of the Brazilian series Julie e os fantasmas, which aired for one season 2011-2012. Others you might like are Glee, Alexa and Katie, Find me in Paris and Anne with an E.

Black (stupid) songwriting journal of fate - Part I
This "Jatp/Kimi no Na wa (Your name)"-AU has been pestering me for months. Every time I watch this movie, my brain goes "JUKE", and, well ... Happy Juke Jeudi!
Part I / Part II / Part III
(Also, contains spoilers for Kimi no na wa/Your name):
It's been a year since Julie's mom passed away, and Julie's still struggling to find her feet. With music still being banned from her life, she's about to lose her spot in her school's music program.
With the pressure from her teachers, her best friend's expectations, Carrie's bullying, and her dad's worries about her mental health, she blames her general exhaustion and anxiety when the dreams start.
In her dreams, she inhabits the body of a boy. his name's Luke; he's about her age and has a rocky relationship with his parents due to his untameable passion for music and his band, Sunset Curve. (A cruel twist of fate in Julie's eyes.)
Until Julie pieces together that they AREN'T dreams. One day, she arrives at school, and people keep whispering when she passes by, and Carrie is glaring daggers at her, and Nick, the boy she has a crush on, suddenly acknowledges her with an approving nod. Flynn files Julie in: Not only did she finally stand up to Carrie's bullying the day before, but she also "borrowed" Nick's guitar -- literally snatched it out of his hands -- to play a song in front of the entire music class, including Miss Harrison and Principal Lessa. (She didn't sing, though. But her deadline to prove herself in music class was extended.)
Flynn starts humming the song's melody, and Julie thinks it sounds oddly familiar. But she's too horrified to care a lot. (It's "Now or Never".)
Julie realizes that there are gaps in her memories -- entire days that she can't recall -- and they correlate with the nights the dreams occur (once or twice per week), concluding that while she's in Luke's body, his soul is stuck in hers.
She also deducts that the swaps began when she started using an old, discarded songwriting journal she'd found.
Apparently, the journal belongs to Luke -- as he owns the exact same journal and the songs were all written by him, and Julie has no idea why there are two versions of the same notebook or how it came into her possession.
More importantly, the journal allows her to communicate with Luke.
They lay down rules that mostly revolve around not meddling with their private lives. But to their mutual dismay, they both tend to overstep. Luke keeps snooping around (he digs up 'Wake up') and accidentally lands Julie a date with Nick. Meanwhile, Julie tries to mend Luke's relationship with his mom.
Their unsolicited meddling worsens things, though. Luke pressuring Julie into music just puts extra stress on her. And "Luke" (Julie) making promises on one day, then going back on them the next day, strains his relationship with his mom even more.
Yet, as time passes and their communication via the journal intensifies, they learn more about each other and form a friendship based on support, respect, and admiration.
Julie realizes she's been sacrificing such a crucial part of her soul for over a year and, with Luke's constant encouragement, finds the strength to play "Wake up". Luke, seeing how her mom's death affected Julie and made her suffer for so long, learns that time is limited and that there might be a day when he can't fix things with his parents anymore. (But he needs music to communicate. Thus, he starts working on "Unsaid Emily".)
Their feelings for each other keep evolving, making both realize they are maybe in love. But they don't have the courage to confess their feelings yet.
Eventually, Luke invites her to a gig. Since Julie has become such an important part of his life, he wants to meet her in person and be there when they play The Orpheum and have their big breakthrough.
When Julie arrives there on the agreed day, she finds The Orpheum destroyed.
Two years ago, it burned down, killing a dozen people, including most members of an aspiring band called Sunset Curve, who were supposed to play their showcase that night.

Ok but think about how if after Emily comes back from the “dead” and sees how mean the team is treating JJ for keeping her secret (like Reid and Morgan) and blaming her, imagine how angry Emily would be to see her little one being treated like that and JJ just taking it all because she thinks she deserves it.
She can see how happy JJ is to have her best friend and mama back, but she also notices how nervous JJ is around the others when her and Hotch aren’t around, or how even in little space, the mere mention of seeing her uncles and aunt make her shake and anxious (minus Uncle Rossi, he does not partake in that kind of behavior, Prentiss is practically his daughter, he’s just happy she’s alive). And worst of all, she finds out Hotch failed to do much about it to protect their little one.
Have you noticed I love ✨ angst ✨ -⚽️
Mama’s Here | Emily Prentiss x Jennifer Jareau
read on ao3 here
a/n: oh oh the way I have hated how Reid acted when Emily came back since day one, that boy had no right blaming it all on Jj!!! (also rossi can do no wrong and is prentiss’ dad you can’t tell me otherwise,,, and I’m an avid lover of angst too dw)
warnings: reid being a lil meanie, crying, anxiety, kinda angry mama Prentiss but in a good protective way
───°˖✧✿✧˖° ───
Tumblr media
-
Emily knows something has shifted since she’s been in London, that much is obvious and expected, but she didn’t think she’d be coming back to a divided team. It’s like the majority of the team are against Jj, Rossi being really the only one that the blonde still looks comfortable being around.
Prentiss has known that her leaving the way she did would cause issues, she can’t place why they seem to fall on Jj. That is- til she hears it.
“You should have told me! I came to you crying for weeks about losing a friend and you didn’t even tell me she wasn’t really gone!” Reid snaps in Jj’s face, in front of the whole team, Jj actually recoils from the words and stumbles back the smallest amount before Spencer’s storming away.
This is when Emily assumed Hotch would step in, go after Spencer to tell him off for being so rude, go comfort their little girl even if she’s not regressed, he does neither. Aaron simply turns back to his work with his lips twisted in unsaid words and gives a sigh like this has been going on for some time, it leaves Emily baffled.
Jj is standing there on the verge of tears and the only one who looks concerned is Rossi. Hotch is supposed to stick up for Jennifer, to be there for her no matter what, that was the deal he made with Prentiss before she left, apparently he’s forgotten it.
Emily can’t stand to see another second of this play out so she quickly struts her way over to where Jj stands, she’s looking down at some file, obviously not engaged in it as her eyes have a gloss of tears being un-shed.
“Honey?” Prentiss asks the softest way she can, no matter how her blood boils at Reid and Hotch right now.
“He- hey em, what’s up?” Jj’s voice cracks when she looks up towards the dark haired girl, a weary smile on Jj’s face that falls flat just as quick as it raises.
“Reid shouldn’t be talking to you like that, has that happened before?” Her mama bear instincts are getting the best of her, Emily is acutely aware of this, she does nothing to stop it.
“Wh- what? You don’t have to worry about it.” Jj quickly defends and sets her files down to wrap her arms around herself, a nervous habit Emily picked up on back when they first started working together.
“Baby girl, I need to know if Reid’s been talking to you like that, or if anyone has.” Emily places a tentative hand on Jj’s shoulder, they’re at work so she can’t do half the mothering she wants to but it’s enough to bring comfort to Jj’s chest.
“Yeah. Kinda. It’s not their fault, Reid’s just upset and he has a right to be. Really it’s no-.” No big deal, Prentiss has heard those words come out of Jj’s mouth far too many times and most times Hotch would be the one to jump in and correct her, but he seems to be preoccupied so Prentiss can take over.
“That doesn’t give Spencer the right to lash out, or anybody for that matter. Have you talked to Hotch?” A sad look crosses Jj’s face as she slumps a little closer to Emily.
“Can we not talk about this now? I don’t want to slip.” Prentiss can feel how her emotions swirl at the soft whisper Jj gives, her poor baby sounds so distraught, almost bordering on scared, Emily gives a nod and decides she can save this conversation for when they aren’t in the middle of prescient.
-
Thankfully Jj is still in charge of ordering the rooms even after moving up from her liaison job, so it gives Prentiss the perfect place to ask a few more questions while they get ready for bed.
“Is it just Reid that’s been saying things?” She’s awaiting Jj on the end of her bed, already changed out of work clothes and into pajamas while Jj finishes up brushing her teeth.
“I don’t know, I don’t see why it matters.” Prentiss huffs a little, the blonde has always been one to figure out things on her own and while Emily admires it, she can’t help but worry that the teams been more cruel than what’s being let on.
“Because he’s your friend and teammate and shouldn’t be saying those things. I know me coming back is hard and might not be all that accepted-.” She can’t finish her thought as the clatter of Jj setting her toothbrush rather harshly cuts through the air.
“I missed you, I accept you back, it’s not hard. It’s good. I really- really missed you.” A wet tone falls on Jj’s words, followed with a sniffle that makes Emily rush to the bathroom where Jj stands awkwardly hugging herself with her head ducked down, almost looking- shameful?
“Oh baby, Shh, mamas here, it’s okay.” Emily’s latched onto quickly, Jj stuffing her face against Prentiss’ neck, wrapping her arms tightly around Emily’s waist and letting out short cries.
“Sweetheart you need to talk to me, I need you to tell me what’s going on.” Emily pleads, she feels helpless holding her baby crying into her, she knows she can’t fix whatever happened over the months she was gone, but hearing Jj mumble out small things about Spencer and Hotch being cold and rude have her heart aching even worse.
They’re both supposed to be people that Jj can come to and trust, that will be there like a family should, only it sounds like they’ve been doing the exact opposite.
The words Jj’s using are ones she’d never dare to mutter out normally when she’s regressed, though she spits them out with a frustrated tone, not towards either man but at herself, Emily can tell.
She can feel how angry Jj is at herself as soon as they shuffle over to the bed and the blonde is withdrawing from Emily’s hold to instead rant. A shame filled rant, Prentiss is hit with the sick realization that Jj feels shameful for missing Emily, her best friend, her mama. And Jj keeps on talking while Emily sits helplessly across from her.
Jj’s eyes still flood down with tears, hands motioning around, words coming out fast and mumbled, all Emily does is watch.
Broken heartedly watching, also planning exactly what she’s going to say to Spencer and Hotch tomorrow, some exclusive words come to her mind when Jj stops talking to latch back onto Emily.
“I- I missed you so much- I can’t- they- can’t-!” It’s sobs with no real point to the words, Jj curling against Emily’s chest within seconds, her hands bawling up fists of Prentiss’ sleep shirt to try and bring them impossibly closer.
“I know baby, I know, I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere, Mamas right here.” Even if nobody else is, Emily will be there, she can guarantee it.
“Mama is right here.” She repeats against her blonde headed baby, even with the sobbing she knows Jj heard it, feels it, believes it, that’s all they need.

He is sprawled on the bed when she gets out of the bathroom, head on his arm. When Mulder sees her, he recoils in a mix of surprise and disgust. ‘’Woah !’’
She ignores him and the shame springing in her belly at his reaction. ‘’What’s missing here is intent. What would be the motive ?’’ she asks, throwing him his sweatshirt back, satisfied when it hits his head.
‘’Compulsive neatness, or a lack thereof ?’’ he drawls, lazily pushing his sweatshirt away. ‘’Have you noticed how everybody around here is obsessed with the neighborhood rules and the CC&Rs ?’’ Pushing himself up, he throws her a caustic smile. ‘’You know what ? You fit in really well here.’’
Rage invades her next breath, burning in her lungs. She spins on him, unable to control herself, unable to keep letting him say things like that.
Unable to keep getting hurt, again and again. Even if it’s because of Mulder.
Hell, especially if it’s because of him.
‘’Why are you being so flippant about this assignement ?’’ she snaps, hands closing in fists at her side. It’s not quite what she wants to say, but the words are too heavy, crushing her tongue. She’ll have to settle for this, unsaid words and irrelevant sentences.
Their relationship in a fucking nutshell.
Mulder blinks at her, deadpan. ‘’Why are you so invested in this ?’’
You know damn well why, she almost spits. This is what I can never have, because I always choose you. This is what went to dust when Emily died, when they stole my ova, when I got abducted.
She says none of those things, swallowing them back instead like she would swallow bile.
‘’I suppose,’’ she replies, as cold as she can be, ‘’we all have our reasons.’’
She doesn’t expect Mulder’s eyes to flash, wild and furious. He sits on the bed, and grabs her by the wrist before she can think. His grim is firm but not hard. It keeps her attached to him, but it doesn’t imprison her.
She hates how thoughtful he can be even when they’re angry at each other.
‘’What are yours ?’’ he whispers, feverish, tugging her even closer.
Behind his eyes, behind the familiar green and blue swimming together in his irises, a glimpse of his mind’s turmoil shows.
He’s opening a door for her. To let him in, to explain and maybe tend to the cracks in their friendship. She’s tempted.
A flash of Diana crosses her mind.
You’re making this personal.
Maybe nothing can repair what’s been broken.
‘’Let it go, Mulder.’’
For a moment, he says nothing, shadows settling on his face. ‘’Oh, you really want to play house, do you ?’’ he says then, disdain creeping into his tone, smashing down years of building trust and friendship. A part of her refuses to believe her best friend is spitting these words to her, but she knows.
She refuses to stay blind. And even though, nothing hurts more in this world than his twisted face, she faces his anger and shoves her own in his face.
She yanks her hand away from him. Her heart shatters at their feet. ‘’Get out.’’
There’s a split second when she wonders if he’ll listen or if he’s gonna fight her again, claw at the soft skin of her chest until her heart can’t takes it.
He doesn’t.
He huffs, hurt or angry or whatever the hell is happening in his head, and leaves without another word.
She collapses on the bed, screwing her eyes shut against treacherous tears.

I'm sorry I couldn't be there
Luke ship of your choice
It wasn't fair, Luke thought, that a day like today should be so gorgeous and sunny when he longed for the weather to reflect his mood. Yet no matter how much he glowered at the sky, not a cloud appeared.
He stood in the background, hidden from sight. So far that the words being said didn't reach his ears. Not that he cared for them anyways, he had never gone in for religion, but he knew it had been important to her. You only had to count the crosses in her house to know that.
He watched as the crowd gathered together, their words of prayer doing nothing to help alleviate what he was feeling. Nothing could, not until he got to say his peace, but he wanted to be alone with her when he did, so he waited.
Waited until the last of the crowd left, and slowly walked up, sitting on the ground, looking towards the continuous blue sky.
"Hi mom," he whispered, fingers spreading in the grass, careful not to touch the dirt. "It's been a long time."
He let out a sigh, wishing he had his guitar. Singing what he felt was so much easier than talking. Not that she would have listened, even if she could. "Nice day for it anyway. I'm sure you would have been delighted by the turn out."
Finally he turned his head, facing the deep pit beside him, the workers having yet to come and fill it in. The shiny casket so many feet below. "I'm sorry I couldn't be there, in the end you know. To say goodbye. I thought we'd have more time. To say I was sorry for running away, or to prove to you that my music could take me places. I thought we had all the time in the world."
Luke let out a sniffle at that, turning his head towards the sky once more, but closed his eyes as the tears started. "I'm so sorry mom. For every stupid fight, for every screaming match. For making you worry about me so much. I know... I know you loved me, in your own way, just like I loved you. But I was too stubborn to admit it."
Luke swiped angrily at the tears, though it didn't make them stop falling. "Trust you to have the last word by dying on me. But... I wrote you this song, you know? To work through my feelings. I was gonna play it for you the day you... now I'll never get the chance. So I'm gonna make it big mom. Play it at every show, dedicate it to you. You'll see mom. I’ll make you proud.”
Luke sighed once more, and pulled a crumpled rose from the inside of his jacket, the petals starting to wilt, but it was all he could afford. He sniffed it, the aroma muted and fading, but that might be due to how much he was sniffling. He kissed the bud and dropped it in, saying a silent goodbye. Dusting off his pants, he headed home, heart still heavy, and wishing once more for a way to turn back time. Yet all he could do was keeping going forward.
And a year later, when he finally signs with a label, he demands his first single be Unsaid Emily.

do you ever think about the parallels between luke&bobby and julie&carrie and have to take a minute?
because back in the 90s you had luke who lived and breathed his music - it was his survival, his emotional outlet, his whole entire heart and soul, completely inseparable from who he was - and bobby knew that. he was luke’s best friend and bandmate so he knew that, saw the tears in luke’s eyes when they played ‘unsaid emily’ together and heard the pained determination when he swore he’d never go back home to parents that wanted to take his music, his survival, away from him, no matter how much it hurt. and then luke died. he died and bobby barely waited for luke to be put to rest before he released that music to the world as his own, no mention of luke’s name. to luke, it must have felt like bobby dug up his grave and stole his very soul straight out of his body, then callously built an empire on top of it. a discovery like that was always going to hurt, was always going to send luke into a tailspin, but knowing that this betrayal came from bobby? no wonder he was angry enough to get mixed up with a soul-stealing devil. because this was his best friend that knew how important music was to luke and he still carved it from his cold, dead heart with careless hands.
when they haunt trevor’s mansion, luke makes a lot of sweeping statements about anger and revenge and teaching bobby a lesson, but down at the very bottom of it is a single heartbroken plea: how could you do this to me?
how could you do this when you knew me?
and then twenty-five years later you have julie whose identity is tied to music just as strongly as luke’s is, an all-encompassing love planted in her soul at birth and then grown and nurtured by her mother into something strong, something joyful, something that makes her who she is. it’s a cord that connects julie to rose, intertwines them until they’re almost indifferentiable. and just like her father before her, carrie knows this about her best friend, has seen them play together, watched them write, maybe even added her own two cents on occasion. but then something happens and best friends turn into enemies, quickly followed by julie losing rose too, that precious cord getting severed into pieces. now all of a sudden julie doesn’t have her mom or her music, doesn’t feel like she can have one without the other, and even though most people are compassionate and try their best to be patient with her, there’s one person who refuses to be anything but cruel: carrie. carrie, her ex-best friend who knows better than anyone how lost julie must feel, how she must be walking around with a hole in her soul and an ache in her heart that’s never going to go away, not completely.
and with every heartless dig and taunting sneer about how pathetic julie is, how weak she is for not wading through the flood of agony to the dry land on the other side, julie must be thinking: how can you do this to me?
how can you do this when you know me?
for both luke and julie there’s an undercurrent of: i trusted you. i believed in you. i loved you.
how could you do this?

Major JatP Spoilers (and really long)
I just fucking watched Julie and the Phantoms for the first time finally after just seeing memes/fanfics/posts and the entire soundtrack for it and I'm
I can't believe that show exists like it is so unbelievable how good it is I WILL go into detail rn -
So ofc I can't remember everything that happened, I was busy holding back tears, shouting fuck you at the tv, singing, and quoting fucking everything
and I mean I did happily yell gay when Willex appeared I love them (and when Reggie and Luke did anything I mean cmon) but I DID start up the show again to go through as I write this
the dahlias were a beautiful addition to the sets and I- THE RANDOM LADY gives Julie one when she's crying for her mom in the Orpheum alley??? PLEASE THAT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL
getting ahead of myself and very out of order ok ok BUT having all the context for the show really gives me a new perspective like
everyone is hurting so much and I could only fully grasp it now after seeing it and I mean 9 episodes did A LOT
everyone has noticed it before but Luke's missing person poster literally behind him as they eat the hot dogs is like?? the set designers were ON TOP OF IT and I love this little detail so much makes me freak every time because the attention to even the SMALLEST detail and it gave us some insight into Luke if we noticed
and do NOT get me started on the fucking ACTING everyone is so good at all of it, like how Madison portrayed Julie being just broken over her mom and Charlie going from loud to insanely soft and quiet as he says "I am… so sorry" and Jeremy being good ol' happy Reggie until the FUCKING "You guys are the only family I have" LINE and the Willex interactions are amazing Owen and Booboo were great together I could go on huyvyibh
THEN THE CALEB FORESHADOW??? AND IT GETS BRIGHTER AS JULIE SINGS WAKE UP????? and it is so fun that some of the episodes just pick up right where the last one left off
And the show outright saying yes, Alex is gay was so mindblowing to me like I don't think I have EVER seen a show do that (but I could be living under a rock) and when the boys tell Julie to give Luke a chance and they watch him as he watches his PARENTS on his BIRTHDAY it was so fucking painful and then THEN Unsaid Emily.
But first, when Julie asks "Who's Emily?" thinking she's someone Luke liked and Luke is so panicked to change the subject he can't even talk about her, how he cut Alex off when he went to explain I gycuvyv
And how they all react to seeing Bobby again and learning he stole all their songs like they are so angry and hurt by this and I understand fully why they want revenge when music is literally EVERYTHING to Luke
but like what it could be like for Bobby? he goes to a therapist still so he might not be over losing his boys still and just him completely taken aback that they're back? he can SEE them and they're playing music with what is basically his niece? how he's shaking after the Orpheum because he has actually seen his boys again after YEARS of them gone? now I understand why they're mad at him but it could have been Bobby's way of coping with losing all of his band and quite possibly the closest friends/family he has ever had
it hurt when they would jump to the boys at the club and then back to Julie alone at the dance, and when they did show up and found her just devastated that they left her hanging hurts SO MUCH worse, like she completely thought they'd show and they didn't and she said it was a MISTAKE god I cant
and now I'm circling back, having the context for Unsaid Emily is both amazingly beautiful and devastatingly soul crushing, all Luke EVER wanted was to connect with people through his music and show his parents that he COULD and CAN make it and PLEASE the music for this show was fucking amazing
and I am foaming at the mouth over Julie giving the Pattersons Unsaid Emily and Luke having to step out but INSTRUMENTAL UNSAID EMILY IN THE BACKGROUND I CAN'T BELIEVE I WAS NOT IN TEARS BAWLING AND SCREAMING
Ok and how the love triangle wasn't forced like Nick knows and STATES that he missed his chance, there was no who does Julie want? nO it was always gonna be Luke (but I respectfully turn my eyes away tho i can appreciate more Juke now)
and the ENTIRE scene when Flynn finds the Sunset Curve shirt and talks about Rose sending the boys to Julie was so good
WILLEX HUG WAS SO PAINFUL AND WONDERFUL like Alex hesitates but then just does and Willie is surprised but then just hugs him tighter in return AND THEN ALEX SAYING HE'S OK???
but I loved Luke saying "Alex, no dancing" and Alex fucking dancing and AND JATP OPENING FOR P!ATD IBIYVBb and the entire scene of them waiting for and getting the call from the Orpheum was gold, just mwah mwah mwAH
AND STAND TALL WITH CONTEXT TOO??? i am so heartbroken and destroyed but utterly ALIVE over Stand Tall and really any of the fuckin songs from the soundtrack but Stand Tall, she thought the boys were gone but then they come back to her and i-
and the GARAGE SCENE PLEASE the boys crying and she literally TELLS THEM TO KEEP EXISTING and THEN "No music is worth making, Julie, if we're not making it with you" I CAN NOT WITH THIS HEARTBREAK NO REGRETS
but oh my GOD THE HUG and REGGIE'S SINGLE TEAR AND THEN LUKE LIKE "I think the band's back" fuck shit god DAMMIT I LIKE THIS TOO REGGIE
And sure, I will say that some characters annoyed me, like Tia Victoria and Carrie i mean i didn't like them but I understand them I guess?
Tia just kinda made me mad since they had to remove the plate from the extra chair for Rose from her and I-
And Carrie was just so mean to Julie it annoyed me mostly but Savannah played her really well like how she reacted when Julie went on the play Finally Free and how she STOOD UP IN AWE at Stand Tall jfebvibf
and yes yes I freaked tf out over the chemistry moment and when Alex danced with Dirty Candy or any of the Ray&Reggie moments or just Ray on screen in general (them distracting him by asking him about his CAMERA?? jhvyughbhu)
-
But in all, Julie and the Phantoms was such an amazing show. Kenny Ortega and Paul Becker and literally EVERYONE on staff did a wonderful job with this show. It has helped millions of people through different problems and gave joy back to those who might have needed it. JatP was literally gold and I don't think anything will be able to even come CLOSE to matching it for a long time, if not ever. That may be a bold statement, but the show was canceled and we're all still here, hoping and waiting for this beautiful masterpiece to come back.
I hate that JatP was canceled and I'm so utterly destroyed that these boys, Ray, Julie, Carlos, and everyone else might never come back. But what I can say is that I got to watch this little piece of Heaven and I am so glad I did. I ranted and I raved about all the little things I liked in this, and I definitely didn't point out everything I liked, but this post summed it up pretty well I think.
I don't think I will ever feel this strongly for something ever again. After seeing so much content for JatP and finally seeing it after months of wanting to, the hype and how I thought I would see this show lived up to the real thing.
Really, I don't know how to end this and I've gone from fuckin rambling nonsense to writing an essay?? have fun reading this? just get me out bye

Luke and the Phantom
To begin a series of posts in which I describe WIPs I will probably never finish but want people to enjoy anyway, we have a reverse Julie and the Phantoms au where the living characters and the dead characters switch places.
Summary: Luke hasn’t been able to play music in the year since the death of Bobby, his band mate and friend. But maybe the appearance of a certain ghost girl can help him find his love of music again.
Basically, it’s the plot of Julie and the Phantoms if Luke and the guys were alive and Julie was the ghost.
Chapter One: Unsaid Emily
Luke’s mom tells him that the Molinas, the neighbors next door with the studio where the guys used to rehearse before Bobby died, are moving. While they have been gracious about letting Luke and the guys keep their stuff there, even though they don’t rehearse anymore, they have asked that Luke and the guys clean out the studio so they can put the house on the market. Luke agrees to do it, even though he doesn’t feel ready to confront the reality of what that means.
Luke goes out to the garage and finds a demo CD in the loft. That’s how he learns about Julie Molina, the Molina’s daughter who died in 1995 at age 16. He plays the CD, and she appears in the garage. They promptly scream at each other, and Luke runs out.
He texts his group chat with Alex and Reggie that there is a ghost in the garage. Reggie believes him, but Alex doesn’t. Alex encourages Luke to go back out to the garage and ask the girl what’s really going on, because she can’t possibly be a ghost.
Luke finds Julie in the garage. Luke learns that Julie is indeed a ghost. Julie learns that it’s 2020. And they both learn that Julie spent 25 years in a dark room for some reason, but from Julie’s perspective, she’s been a ghost for a couple of hours. Luke tells Julie about Bobby, which is a big step for him. They both question how Luke can see her.
The next morning, Luke wakes up early, so he has time to go out to the studio before going to school. He doesn’t find Julie there right away, but he does find his guitar. Luke finally confronts what has been getting in the way of him playing for a year, and after he realizes that music is Julie’s legacy--which is a legacy he wants to leave behind himself--he plays again.
Chapter Two: Bright
It turns out that Julie heard him play because she’s been in the loft this whole time. Luke explains that the song he played, “Unsaid Emily,” was a song he wrote for his mom after he ran away from home. He was staying at Bobby’s place until he died, at which point he went back home because the fight with his parents just didn’t seem important anymore. They talk about their relationships with their parents. Julie thinks Luke should show his mom “Unsaid Emily,” but he doesn’t think she will understand.
And speaking of parents, Ray finds Luke out in the garage. Apparently, he heard him play, too. So Luke gets to have a conversation with his neighbor while pretending that he can’t see the guy’s dead daughter, who is standing right there.
He has to leave for school shortly after.
At school, he tells Reggie and Alex about how meeting Julie got him to play again. Reggie is super excited, but Alex is pissed. Reggie and Alex didn’t stop playing after Bobby’s death the way Luke did, and from Alex’s perspective, he did everything he could to bring Luke back to music, but it was a stranger who got him to play again.
This doesn’t get resolved until lunch when Reggie talks Alex down, and they all agree to go to the studio after school and jam with Julie.
When they get to the studio, Luke introduces the guys to Julie and vice versa. Alex expresses that he still doesn’t believe that Julie exists, so Julie plays the piano to prove that she does. Then Alex finally believes Luke.
Luke asks if Julie wants to learn “Bright,” and then when they play together, Reggie and Alex can see Julie. They pick up their instruments and jam together.
(That’s as far as I have written. The rest is outlined.)
Chapter Three: This Band is Back
This chapter is basically just the guys hanging out in the studio and getting to know Julie. They start cleaning out the studio and reminisce about what they find. At some point, they pick up their instruments and start jamming again, and they play “This Band is Back.” They have a sleepover in the studio.
Chapter Four: Flying Solo
The guys have a meeting without Julie, and they decide to add Julie to Sunset Curve, if she wants to join.
Julie goes out on her own, and she makes a ghost friend! The ghost introduces herself as Flynn.
They talk to Julie, and she agrees to join their band. So now that that’s established, Luke looks into booking a gig. Willie, Alex’s boyfriend, suggests that they play at the upcoming school dance because he happens to know that they’re looking for a band to play. Luke is opposed to it at first, but his friends talk him into it, so he agrees.
Chapter Five: Other Side of Hollywood
Julie has been hanging around her family, and it eats at her. She wants to be able to talk to them, at least once. She expresses this to Flynn, and Flynn’s like, I have a ghost you should meet, and she takes her to the Hollywood Ghost Club.
Meanwhile, Luke, Alex, and Reggie are getting ready to perform at the dance, and Julie is nowhere to be found. Luke promises them that she’ll be there, because she has to be, right? She wouldn’t bail on them.
Right?
When Flynn introduces Julie to Caleb and she explains her situation, he listens to her plight, but he skirts around agreeing to help her. And of course, he has his own agenda. Flynn has told him about Julie being visible when she plays with her band, and so Caleb offers her the chance to join the club. Julie hesitates. Before she can give Caleb an answer, Flynn realizes what time it is and tells Julie she has to go to perform at the dance. But before she leaves, she shakes hands with Caleb, and he stamps her.
She makes to the dance just in time, and she performs with the guys.
The chapter ends with her getting jolted.
Chapter Six: Perfect Harmony
Luke realizes that he’s falling for Julie after how well the dance went. When he tells Alex and Reggie, they try to warn him off of it because she’s a ghost and it can never work.
Meanwhile, Julie is missing her family more than ever, keeps getting jolted and has no idea why, and she can’t find Flynn, as if Flynn is avoiding her. But the bright spot in the darkness for her is Luke, who is writing songs with her and practicing with her and giving her something to look forward to.
Chapter Seven: Wake Up
Flynn finally confronts Julie and tells her about the stamp, about Caleb owning her soul, and about unfinished business. Julie’s best guess is that her unfinished business is playing the Orpheum, the show she never got to perform, but she knows that it’s something that can never happen, so she gets to work accepting her fate. She decides that it’s best to keep it from the guys and just fade away without a word.
She writes “Wake Up” to her parents as her final goodbye.
Luke finds her practicing it, and at first, she’s startled. She never meant to share this with Luke. But he has an idea: if she lets him give “Wake Up” to the Molinas, he’ll give his mom “Unsaid Emily” like she wanted him to do. She agrees.
So Luke gives the Molinas “Wake Up,” telling them that he found it when he was cleaning out the garage. They cry, and so does Luke.
And Luke also shows his mom “Unsaid Emily,” and she cries. It helps to resolve some of the tension that’s been lingering since Luke came back home.
After watching the way their parents reacted to their respective songs, Julie decides to be honest with Luke about the stamp and the jolts. But Luke refuses to let Julie go without a fight, and he is determined to get the Orpheum gig. Julie finds Flynn, and the three of them come up with a plan.
Chapter Eight: You Got Nothing to Lose
Flynn helps Julie get the Orpheum gig similar to how Willie helped the guys in “Stand Tall.” Luckily, Willie filmed the band playing at the dance, and the video went viral, so that helps them get the gig.
As they prepare for the Orpheum, Luke has to watch Julie get jolted every so often. It hurts him.
Julie and Luke have a heartfelt goodbye where Julie asks Luke to look out for her parents, and Luke asks Julie to find Bobby after she crosses over.
But as the guys are on their way to the Orpheum, Caleb confronts Julie and kidnaps her similar to how the guys were kidnapped in “Stand Tall.”
Chapter Nine: Stand Tall
Luke is freaking out backstage because Julie isn’t there. She was supposed to meet them backstage, how is she not there? The guys try to comfort him, but his mind jumps to the realization that she must have run out of time and been jolted out of existence. Reggie asks if he still wants to perform, and Luke looks at his guitar, tempted to give up music again after losing Julie. But he realizes that that would be the worst thing he could do for her, that the best way to honor her memory is to play the song they wrote together.
So they go onstage and play. And Julie poofs in and joins them!
She disappears after the song is over, even to Luke, and he is grateful that, if she had to go, at least she got to go on her own terms.
The guys return to the studio, and sure enough, there’s Julie, lying on the couch in pain as she’s dying (again). They have a conversation similar to the one in canon, including, “No music is worth making if I’m not making it with you,” only Julie is the one who says it this time. And that’s exactly what Luke needs to hear to break completely, so he collapses into Julie.
And instead of him going through her, Julie catches him.
It takes a few beats for them to realize that they’re hugging, but they do. Julie starts glowing, and the stamp floats right off her wrist. Luke turns to his friends, only to realize that they can see Julie, too.
They bask in the glory of their victory, that they didn’t lose Julie after all, and now not only can Luke see Julie, but Alex and Reggie can see her too, and Julie and Luke can touch.

ever get stuck thinking about how one of the boys biggest fears was probably being forgotten about by those around them? and how bobby stealing their songs and not crediting or even mentioning them, basically ensured that?
#my sources for this is in bright when they sing 'we will fight to shine together / bright forever'. it can be argued thats them wanting to#be remembered as these bright spots in someones life. a highlight. something that glowed and you can't forget about ever#my second source is in unsaid emily with 'maybe time will not erase me' which is yknow. self-explanatory.#but then it's also in the little things? like yes okay alex and reggie seem to be a little more in the band thing for money then luke#BUT. from whats hinted about their home lives (reggies espeically) they werent great. their parents probably werent overly involved in thei#lives or what they did. and like luke. they probably just wanted to prove to them that they were good. that they could make it. that they#were worth giving a damn about and /remembering/#and okay. ive been thinking vaguely about timelines and stuff. and how maybe the boys being stuck in that dark room was partly their fault?#like what if someone else knew what bobby was going to do. and knew that they boys were about to have their legacy stolen and how it was a#fear they all shared? to be forgotten? so when they died it was the thing that tied them together (like more so then the love they had for#each other because i also think that's partly why they're stuck together. because of love😌) and the thing that will allow them to 'cross#over' is this second chance at being remembered#BUT THEN ALSO!!!! they don't cross over becasue i firmly believe they'll somehow come back to life and it's gonna be because of julie but#it's actually kick started by Rose Molina who saw a band play one song 25 years ago and /remembered/ them#hm. none of this makes any sense. very sorry if anyone actually reads all these tags i didn't mean to do this ghfjdk

In Now or Never, our boys look like they’re having so much fun. They’re smiling, dancing, really getting into it. You can tell they love what they do. Then there’s Bobby, never smiling, barely swaying, obviously very talented by the way he plays his guitar, but mostly seeming like he’s just trying to look cool rather than actually enjoying it. Idk I just love these little details

BTS DRABBLE-OT7
Having kids is never a decision to be taken lightly. Having kids with seven vampires? Possibly even more tricky. Not having kids all together? Earth Shattering.

Title: You're Enough
Tumblr media
"They're absolutely wonderful with the kids." Your best friend comments offhandedly, as she hands you another paper plate to set out on the picnic table where the two of you are setting up lunch.
You follow her gaze to the playground, where your seven boyfriends are playing with her three children, and as you watch, Taehyung and Jungkook leap out from behind a piece of equipment, playfully scaring the oldest boy, before they all take off in a whirl of giggles and screaming.
"I know." You agree, forcing yourself to draw your eyes away from Yoongi and Namjoon pushing the younger girls on the swings, back to the table and the food at hand. You can't explain it, but suddenly there's a lump in your chest. You busy yourself with setting out sandwiches. "Kids love them. All of them."
The baby babbles on Brooke's hip, and she turns to smile at him, reaching out to wipe some drool from his chin, as you finally finish setting out the food.
Just in time, because Jin appears beside you, hand sliding to rest at the base of your back, as he offers you a smile and glances at the spread of food. "Is lunch ready? The kids are starving."
Brooke laughs. "They're always starving."
The baby reaches out chubby hands for Jin, and he takes him without a second thought, tapping the end of his button nose and making him giggle, eyes bright, as he bounces him slightly in his arms.
"It's ready." You nod, then motion toward the playground, just as Hobi swings one of the girls up onto his shoulders to reach a particularly green leaf on one of the trees overhead. "You can get them."
"Okay." Jin offers you a smile, before offering the baby in his arms a bright grin, turning toward the playground. "Let's go get brother and sissies. Should we? Yeah? Let's go."
You glance at Brooke across the table, and note that she's watching you watch Jin, and suddenly, you feel self conscious, and a little defensive.
"What?" You ask, avoiding her gaze once more, as you smooth out a napkin and listen to Jin call the boys and children behind you. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Brooke shrugs. "No reason." She is silent for a moment, and you know she's going to say something else. The two of you have been friends for too long to leave things unsaid. She begins hesitantly. "I just wondered if you'd thought anymore about it."
You know what she's referring to. But you're not going to say it out loud. Even though you've thought about it nonstop since she brought it up a few weeks earlier.
"I haven't had time." You lie, still fiddling with the napkin. "I've been so busy at work."
Luckily, you don't have to come up with a better excuse, because the boys arrive with noisy children in tow.
"Mmm looks good!" Taehyung exclaims, hands resting heavily on your shoulders, as he leans over to smell the food and give you a bright toothy grin. "I'm starving."
His fingers discreetly brush your neck at the loaded statement, and you shiver, as he sits down beside you, already busy talking to Emily who has pushed her way in on his other side.
Hobi swings Addy off his shoulders and onto the bench beside you, before he takes her other side, and hands her a sandwich, eyes bright and hair tousled from play. "Here Addy! Eat and then we can play again!"
You smile at him over her head and he returns the look, before reaching for sandwich of his own.
"Noona, did you see that giant jungle gym over there?" Jungkook asks breathlessly, around a mouthful of sandwich, cheeks red and bright from the wind and you think-for just a moment-that this must have been what young human Jungkook looked like.
"I saw it." You laugh, and shoot him a teasing glare. "I also saw you teaching Cody how to climb to the top and hang with one hand."
"It was so cool!" Cody yells, and Brooke shushes him, saying something halfheartedly about using his quiet voice. When he speaks again, he has at least made an effort not to shout. "Jungkook showed me how to do a backflip!"
"Did he?" You ask carefully and flash Jungkook another look, as he grins with no shame-fangs flashing on full display-and reaches for another sandwich.
There is a cold pit in the middle of your stomach, and as the chatter continue around you, you focus on trying to force yourself to finish the rest of your sandwich.
When you glance up and your eyes meet Yoongi's across the table, he mouths something to you akin to are you okay?
Dammit. You should have known he'd pick up on your mood shift.
Jimin-sitting next to Yoongi-must see the older brother mouth to you and catch what's going on, because suddenly another pair of large, doe eyes are scanning your face worriedly.
You manage a smile and wave them off, mouthing back silently I'm fine.
But inside, deep down and hidden away, you know you're not.
******
It is several nights later when everything finally comes out into the open.
You are snuggled on the couch between the three youngest vampires as they jostle and yell over a video game they're competing in, enjoying a lazy Friday night together after everyone had worked the whole day.
The doorbell rings, and Jin gets up from his spot beside Namjoon on the other couch to open it.
"Pizza's here." He closes the door after paying the delivery driver and tosses the warm, heavenly smelling box onto your lap with a grin of flashing fangs. "Eat up, princess."
You know the vampires will not help you eat the gigantic pizza filling your lap. They can stomach human food if needed-like the sandwiches the day of the park-but when in private, they don't even make an effort to keep up appearances.
Speaking of the park.
The lump is back in your stomach, and you break the cheese string off the piece of pizza you have just started, suddenly not as hungry as you once were.
"Yah, Jungkook, I swear, I don't know how you win every time." Jimin cries out, lips pulling into a pout, as he tosses his controller to the side and glares at the youngest, a giant smug grin on his features.
"I was so close." Taehyung joins in on the complaints, tossing his controller aside as well, before he lays down to stretch out over the couch, putting his head in your lap, his body sprawled over the other two vampires, who instantly start to whine and push at his legs now weighing down their laps.
You reach up and begin to card your fingers through Taehyung's soft hair without much thought, mind still preoccupied as you vaguely listen to the three youngest banter amongst themselves, still griping about the game.
"All right, all right." Namjoon looks up from his book and puts aside his reading glasses, shooting an amused glance between the bickering brothers. "That's enough. Let's put on a movie or something."
"Let Y/N pick!" Hobi calls out from his spot on the floor, delicate featuers lit up by the screen of his phone, eyes bright.
The use of your name has you pulling from your thoughts, and suddenly, you realize they're all looking to you expectantly.
"Something on your mind, beautiful?" Namjoon queries softly, and you can tell from the furrow of his brows that he has picked up on the fact that your head is a little too loud.
You almost don't say it. You almost talk yourself out of it.
But then somehow, the words slide past your lips without your bidding, like frost escaping from the ice of a frozen pond.
"Can vampires reproduce?"
Seven pairs of wide eyes are now fully on you, and you feel a slight blush creep up your cheeks. Biting your lip, you try to think of anyway to play the strange question off. "I just mean-ya know." You shrug helplessly, the weight of Taehyung's head in your lap suddenly feeling suffocating. "I'm curious."
Namjoon and Jin exchange a look, and the eldest cocks his head slightly in your direction, eyes unreadable. "I mean, in all sense of the word, yes."
Something in your gut loosens and sparks at his statement.
"Vampires don't just exist. A human has to be turned." Namjoon continues Jin's explanation, his fingers tapping the older brother's thigh as if in thought while he talks. "So if a vampire were to beget children, said children would be human. Nothing more. Even when considering the case of two vampire parents. Human genes are hereditary. Vampire genes are bestowed."
It made sense.
"I see." It is the only thing you can think to say, as they are all still watching you carefully, and you feel cowed under the pressure. Seven pairs of amber eyes on your face has a way of doing that. "Thank you for answering my question."
"So if you're asking if vampires and humans can procreate, the answer is yes." Yoongi speaks up, shifting uncomfortably on his spot beside the older two, brow furrowed slightly as he regards you. "If that is what you're asking."
"Why are you asking, baby girl?" Jimin questions, voice small and soft, and when you look at him, he's offering you a gentle smile framed by the golden halo of his soft curls. He looks absolutely ethereal.
"I was just curious-" You repeat dumbly, unable to think of anything else.
"Listen sweet cheeks." Taehyung says, sitting up now, turning to face you and take your chin in his long fingers, eyes dark and warm. "Don't be weird. You can talk to us. You know that."
"I know but-" You stumble over your words again, and the pit is back in your stomach, as you struggle with yourself to decide what to tell them.
You can't simply blurt out that you've been thinking about having kids-having kids with them-for awhile now.
You can't just say that.
Right?
"Do you want kids, noona?" Jungkook asks, simple and straightforward, and when you look at him, surprise evident on your features, he offers you the hint of a shy smile.
"I mean-" There is a lump in your throat now, and you can't seem to speak around it. You swallow hard and try again. "I think I'd like that."
The seven vampires exchange looks, and you can't read what their eyes are saying to each other, so you find yourself suddenly word vomiting to feel the awkward silence of uncertainty.
"It's just something Brooke brought up a couple weeks ago and I've been thinking about it a lot since then. And then Sunday at the park, watching you with the kids, I couldn't help but think that you guys would be amazing, and we really don't have to discuss this if it's weird or awkward or you don't want to-" You sound desperate, even to yourself.
Taehyung's hand covers your mouth, effectively stopping your words, and when you glance at him over the curve of his fingers, you feel relief to see that he is slightly smiling, lips curled at the corners. "I'm going to need you to shut up for just one second, sweet cheeks."
"I love kids." Jimin pipes up from beside you, his arm now around your shoulders, fingers tickling and playing with the hair that rests at the base of your neck. He offers you another warm smile and a chunk of the lump in your stomach chips off at the sight.
"Me too." Taehyung shrugs casually, fingers uncurling from around your lips, before he leans forward and places a kiss on your now uncovered mouth, fangs just briefly scraping the delicate skin before he pulls away.
Another piece of the lump falls away.
"I don't care much for kids," Yoongi speaks up next, tilting his head slightly as he looks at you, so his bangs fall into his gaze and soften his features just a bit. The corner of his mouth lifts imperceptibly, but you catch the expression. "But if they're anything like you, baby, I think I can handle it."
"I'm in." Jin waves his hand at you, eyes suddenly bright and excited. "I can teach them to cook. And then you won't be the only one who eats my food around here."
The lump is almost fully dissolved as you glance at Jungkook, Namjoon, and Hobi.
Hobi bounds to his feet and pulls you up from the couch, twirling you in a circle until you're both laughing. He hugs you, and the smell of his cologne fills your nostrils as you bury your face in his shirt. He chucks you under the chin as he releases you. "Having kids with you would make me the happiest I've ever been."
Your eyes meet Namjoon's-dark and unreadable behind the lenses of his glasses-and he sighs, biting his lip slightly as if in thought, white fangs nipping into the plush, pink skin. Finally, he says, "I mean. I guess there's a daycare at the hospital."
You grin at him, because you know his analytical mind won't allow him to say anymore on the subject without further research, and he returns the smile.
The lump is pulsing, trying to fight fading and losing, as you turn to Jungkook, who still sits on the edge of the couch, doe eyes wide and far away, as if he's deep in thought.
You cross the living room and crouch in front of him, reaching out to take his fingers between your own. He meets your gaze, as you trail fingertips over the newly acquired tattoos on his knuckles-the other brothers' and your initials-etched into his skin in black ink.
"Jungkook?" You ask softly, allowing him to come to you when he's ready.
He swallows-you see his adam's apple bob in his throat beneath tan skin-and then he glances from you to the other brothers. "Who would-I mean-Which one of us would-?"
"That's not something to worry about, Jungkookie." Jimin pats his head and pets his hair, trying to ease the younger brother's sudden worry.
"Yeah." Yoongi stretches and stands from his spot on the couch, digging his hands into the pocket of his oversized hoodie as he regards the two of you. "We're all part of this family. We're all intertwined. So whoever actually is the father to the kid, it won't matter. It'll belong to all of us."
"You would all be the baby's fathers." You murmur, fingers still stroking over Jungkook's. "We wouldn't even worry about who did what."
"We all know Namjoon has that period tracker app for Y/N's cycles anyway." Taehyung teases, though you know he's being serious.
You had set up the app with Namjoon to make their lives easier way back when you had all first started dating, and it had stuck. It was nice not to have to explain once a month why you were suddenly moody, or craved sweets, or wanted to take a long hot bath by yourself.
"Maybe that week we all just-" Taehyung continues, but stops short, meshing his hands together to signify what he's trying to say. He shrugs and smirks. "Roll of the dice if you will."
Jungkook shifts beneath your grasp, and you draw your attention back to him, as he takes in a deep breath and offers you a smile, eyes now clear of worry. "I think I'd like to be a dad."
The lump completely falls apart and disappears once and for all.
"It's settled then." Namjoon stands up and stretches next to Yoongi, throwing his arm around the shorter man's shoulders. He offers you a full fledged grin now, excitement starting to be allowed to creep into his eyes past his thoughts. "Let's have a baby."
*****
You get the text to come to the exam room midway through your shift.
Closing the door quietly behind you, you can barely stop from bouncing on your toes in excitement, as you turn to face the department's OB-and consequently your close friend-standing beside the unused exam table.
"Well? Did you get the results?" You ask, crossing the room to her, phone still clutched in your fist. Your heart is suddenly pounding and your fingers are trembling. "I mean, I assume you did because you texted me. But seriously I haven't been able to focus all day and I can't wait to hear-"
"Y/N." Her quiet fervent voice breaks through your rambling, and suddenly you feel cold, and not because the A/C has just kicked on. "Maybe you should sit down."
******
As soon as you walk in the door, the boys are there, and the excitement is palpable and it only makes the sick feeling in your stomach even worse.
"So? What did she say?" Namjoon asks as the spoke person for the group, and though you can see he's trying to stay reserved, you can see the shimmer in his eyes, and it makes your next words all the harder.
"She said-" You start to say, but the words are choked off before they can begin, and the tears you have held back through the rest of your shift are streaming down your cheeks and suddenly your holding back a sob and you can't breathe.
"Shit." You hear Yoongi swear beneath his breath, and the circle is closing in around you as they embrace you from all sides.
"What happened, princess?" Jin asks seriously, his warm breath ghosting your temple, as he rests his cheek on your hair.
You shake your head, the hot tears salty where they run over your lips, and bury your face into the nearest shirt you can find, which just so happens to belong to Jimin.
Sweater paws reach up to wipe fruitlessly at the tears that wet your cheeks, and you can hear the emotion in his gentle words as he queries carefully, "Baby girl, just let us know that you're okay. Anything else is secondary."
You bite your lip-hard enough to bruise-and force the words past your teeth, even though you want to swallow them and let them die inside you and never see the light of day.
You don't want to ruin everything. Not for them. Not ever for them. And yet, the words you're going to say next are going to destroy them. All of them.
"My tests weren't good. She doesn't think I'll ever be able to have kids." The words tumble out, and are drowned off in a sob, as you bury your face once again into the front of Jimin's sweater.
You can't bear to face them. Not now.
You don't want to see them hate you.
"Oh, baby." Yoongi's voice is low, and you feel his hand reach up to stroke down your hair and the back of your head, and the comforting touch is too much.
"I'm so sorry." You sob out, unable to catch your breath, and your legs feel weak, and you feel like you're going to crumble from the inside out.
"Hey, sweet cheeks. Y/N. Look at me."
Taehyung's deep, serious timbre sounds in your ear, and long, cool fingers find their way beneath your chin and dig your gaze from the front of Jimin's sweater.
Taehyung's gaze is sober, his eyes sad, but warm, and his fingers stroke the sides of your jaw in gentle, nonsensical, comforting patterns. "Listen to me. None of that matters. You're enough. You've always been enough for us. Just you. Nothing else."
Why don't they hate you? They should hate you. Hell, you hated you.
"He's right." Namjoon steps forward, and you can tell he's trying to keep calm and stoic, for the rest of the boys and you. He offers you the hint of a sad smile. "This is hard. But we'll get through it. And we have you. And each other. That's all we've ever needed, and all we'll ever need."
"Hell, we can get a kid from anywhere." Yoongi grunts, his hand still resting at the back of your neck, fingers warm where they tickle the base of your hair. "We'll figure something else."
"Maybe we can steal one from the park." Taehyung jokes, and grins at you, and you don't feel quite like you're going to drown so desperately.
"I'm sorry, noona." Jungkook says softly, and you glance at him, worried for him the most, as you reach for his hand, and his dark eyes reflect your own tears back at you. "I know how much you wanted to be a mom."
You sniff, and your voice comes out hoarse. "I know how much you all wanted to be dads." You whimper over the words, the tears starting to flow again despite your best efforts.
"Hey." Yoongi pulls you to him, voice gruff with unsaid emotion. "Come on now. We'll make it happen. One way or another."
"In all seriousness, there's adoption and surrogates, and medical procedures. Something will work out, princess." Jin speaks up from behind you, hands still resting comfortably on your hips at your waist. He offers you the start of a smile when you look back at him. "I promise I won't let these hooligans steal a kid from the park."
You free one of your hands from Jungkook, and reach up to swipe away the tears that still linger on your face.
Jimin reaches out once more to wipe away the remaining moisture with his sweater paws, and when he smiles, it's genuine.
You take a deep breath.
They don't hate you. No, in fact, they love you.
And that's why everything is going to work out, one way or the other.
Kids or no kids.
Because they're enough for you, and you're enough for them.
Always and forever.
They all squish you between them into a warm group hug, and somewhere, Taehyung's muffled voice comes from far away, making you smile even on the worst day.
"I still don't think the park is a bad idea."
