___________
Just one week ago, if you had told Hobie Brown that a random object he'd found in an Osborne facility would fix all of his problems, he would've laughed in your face and called you mad. But now he was starting to realize, not only was it possible, but he could now accomplish what he used to think would be impossible.
"Thanks for the help Spider-Man!"
He waved at the random civilian he'd just finished helping before moving on to the next, his oddly enhanced hearing helping him catch the quietest of cries, the muffled yells, aiding him in being the best Spider-Man he could be. Honestly? It felt like magic.
It was like all the stress had just melted from his body. No more muscle pain from all the heavy lifting, no more headaches from not being able to sleep- in fact, he hadn't slept in days. He simply forgot to. And he was feeling great!
He was stronger than usual, faster than usual, smarter than usual...the list continued. He was doing more in less time and getting closer and closer to his goal- defeating Osborne and completely ridding the city of crime.
But there were a few added cons to his new state of being. His head hurt whenever he played his guitar. Well, he could still play it, but some notes just hurt. Sounds he used to consider beautiful now sounded like nails screeching across a chalkboard. Even high-pitched screams from troubled civilians made his head spin.
There was also the restlessness. Hobie had never been able to sit still, but now...it was twice as bad. Just the thought of going back home revolted him. Sitting down? Taking a nap? God no. It would be a waste of time and a waste of energy. He needed to keep moving.
And then there was the hunger. He. Was. Always. Hungry. No matter what he ate, the hunger pangs never stopped. What had been his favorite foods now disgusted him and he found himself eating the most bizarre items. Mounds and mounds of white chocolate (something he used to despise), loads of fries and worst of all, frozen meat. He couldn't understand his new obsession with frozen meat.
But then he found himself shrugging it off and moving on, a fistful of frozen chicken pieces in his mouth. After all, the pros outweighed the cons, right?
But you...you were fairly put-off by this new development.
"Can you stop eating all my food?" You asked him angrily, telling him off for what must've been the fourth time this week. He shrugged sheepishly as he took a bite out of one of the apples on the counter and spit it out. "Sorry. 'm just hungry" he muttered, wiping his mouth as he opened the fridge back up.
You tossed the apple in the trash behind you, standing across from him with your arms folded over your chest. You bit the inside of your cheek as you watched him, eyebrows furrowing in concern. "You know, Hobes-" You started, trying to keep your tone as soft as possible. "-ever since you came back from that facility, you've been acting...off."
"Off how?" He asked casually, barely paying any attention to you as he grabbed a yogurt. "Well you've been-" you let out a yelp as yogurt splattered all over you and him, his eyes widening in realization. "Whoops." He mumbled.
"WHOOPS?"
In an attempt to open the yogurt, he'd accidentally caused it to explode all over the kitchen, having squeezed it too hard. "Forgot m' own strength." He said with a quiet chuckle, tossing the mangled container into the trash before moving to the sink to wash his hands.
You watched him in shock. How was he so...normal about this?
He must've caught your expression because he turned around with an eyebrow raised. "Wha's wrong?"
You scoffed, still in shock. "What's wrong?" You repeated, hands falling to your hips. "What's wrong is that you've been acting absolutely insane these past few days!" you marched up to him, pointing your finger in his face. "Not sleeping, not sitting still, eating like a damn dinosaur-" his eyes widened "-not knowing your own strength-" he looked to the side. He must've heard something again "-acting like you're on top of the world and-and-what the hell are you looking for?" You exclaimed, exasperated as he looked around confusedly.
"Did you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
He jumped, head turning around wildly. "That! That voice!"
"I don't hear anything, Hobes." you said tiredly, putting a hand on your head and leaning back against the counter. "I think you need to take a break. Something's going on with you-"
"How can you not hear that?" He whispered desperately, eyes wide.
"Are you sure it's not just the voice in your head?" You asked sarcastically.
"No, no, it's saying something-" he gasped softly, putting his hands on both sides of his head and squeezing his eyes shut. "It's saying it's hungry. It's asking for...food?"
"Oh my god-" You said annoyedly, shaking your head in frustration.
"I'm telling you the truth, love, really-"
"You're insane! That thing did something to you, Hobes-!"
"DON'T CALL US A THING."
You stopped. He stared at you, chest heaving up and down as he slowly calmed himself, putting his hands on top of his head while he struggled to catch his breath. "Fuck." He mumbled. He looked back at you, realizing he must've scared you. "Hey, don't look at me like tha-"
"Get out."
His eyes widened. "What?" he asked softly. He felt horrible now. He hadn't meant to get so aggressive and he definitely didn't mean to scare you. He just felt so...angry. It was an odd, yet somewhat powerful feeling. Like he could do anything. Like he would do anything.
"You want me to leave?" he asked, dumbstruck. "Seriously? What happened to you being here for me?"
"Just go." You choked out, pointing towards the door.
He opened his mouth, about to say something, when that voice came again.
You Don't Need Her.
For a moment, he wanted to defy that voice, to not let it control him, but alas...it was just so convincing. His expression turned coldly sour. He scoffed, shoving his hands in the pockets of his vest and walking right past you. "You'll regret this." he said quietly, walking out and shutting the door behind him with a slam. You glanced out the window and caught a glimpse of him pulling his mask on and swinging away.
Instead of using his normal, white webs, he was using black ones. You'd never seen them before. What was going on?
Hobie swung away in frustration, muttering nothings under his breath, not paying attention to the world below him. He didn't even realize that he'd run out of his own webs ages ago and was now using different ones. Ones that his body was somehow creating by itself, without web shooters. That wasn't possible...right?
Whatever. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered. His best friend had just kicked him out for no reason. Why would anything still matter?
What had he even done wrong? He was just being himself. It's not like he killed someone.
Why did you have to be so dramatic? Why did you have to be so dramatic about the-the-what was it called?
A Symbiote.
Right.
Whatever. Symbiote, then. It was helping him, wasn't it? Helping him be a better Spider-man. Helping him do better things? What was your problem with it? You were just jealous.
These were the thoughts running through Hobie's mind as he swung to nowhere, just trying to release the tension from his body. This, along with one other thought.
Food.
Of course. He was still hungry after all. The eyes of his mask narrowed as he looked around. Where was he going to find something to eat?
"Hands above your head you filthy scum."
Hobie stopped swinging, sticking onto the glass of a tall building as he looked around, searching for where that voice had come from.
"Please, I didn't do anything. I'm just trying to go home, I have a wife-"
Hobie heard the clicking of a gun. He jumped towards the noise, staying hidden as he approached a darker alleyway, wedged between two boring buildings. Standing in the alleyway was someone with a badge, gun in his hand as he pointed it at a young man holding a bag.
"What's in the bag? Stolen goods? Weapons?" The cop asked, shoving his gun in the man's face threateningly. "I-I needed food." The man said quickly, eyes widening in fear. He opened his bag, revealing nothing more than some groceries. "We're starving, please-"
"Fucking punk." the badged man spat, pressing the gun to his victim's temple. "Actions have consequences." The young man squeezed his eyes shut in fear, the bag falling to the ground.
No. Hobie couldn't let this happen.
He lunged at the cop, almost animalistically, knocking him to the ground. He webbed the gun out of his hand, pulling him up aggressively. As Hobie stood up, he grabbed the cop by the throat, tightly choking him. He wasn't able to stop a small smile from forming on his face under the mask.
And then it was like he was engulfed by darkness.
Like the night had somehow swallowed him whole, but left no stars in sight. No light. Only a hole of black nothingness.
The last thing he remembered was a voice. The same one he'd heard earlier. A deep, guttural, alien hiss.
You Look...Deliciousssss...
And then the rest was a blur.
______________________________
How could you have just kicked him out like that?
You were pacing your living room, biting your fingernails out of nervousness while you tried to calm yourself down. There was something wrong with Hobie, that much was obvious, but kicking him out was too far.
What if he got hurt?
What if he got someone else hurt?
But it wasn't even about Hobie anymore. It was about whatever that thing that he'd found was.
Us he'd called it. Don't call us thing.
Who was us?
You pulled out your computer, the file already open. Ever since he'd gotten back, you'd been trying to crack the code. Trying to figure out what was inside that flash drive he'd stolen. What this thing was.
You hadn't told Hobie about your efforts of course. You suspected he wouldn't take it well and after seeing his reaction today, you definitely weren't going to be telling him anything.
And you definitely weren't going to be telling him that you sent his superhero friend a message asking her to help you decrypt the code just a few days ago.
Riri Williams was a genius, and although the two of you weren't close, you knew her because of the fact that she and Hobie worked together. Normally, you'd be embarrassed to ask someone to help you decode something, but Riri was very kind about it, not even asking you why you didn't want Hobie to know.
You trusted her to keep it from him. And today, she had finally sent you her finished product.
"Hopefully this works. Lmk if you need help with your spidey problems :P"
She'd attached a note. How sweet.
Smiling at the note, you clicked out of it and copy pasted the decryption code into your computer terminal. The computer flashed, but then the file opened. You stared at it for a moment, confusion settling over your face.
All the file contained was a single, eight minute long video.
Hesitantly, you clicked on it, and a page opened up, a young man's tired face taking over your screen.
"Take 17. This is Otto Octavius, head scientist of Team #6's V.E.N.O.M. symbiote trials." the man gave the camera a half-hearted smile. "The subject volunteer of this video is unnamed."
You sat back slightly, folding your arms over your chest as you made yourself comfortable. "Subject Zero is in captivity. It seems to be showing signs of aggression." The man turned the camera to face a large glass cell, inside of which was what seemed to be...a glob.
Was this what Hobie was talking about?
You flinched back as the glob jumped at the glass. The scientist in the video flinched as well and set the camera down with a distasteful look on his face. "Bring in the volunteer." he called out.
You watched in horror as a half-conscious elderly man was shoved into the glass cell. The man looked around confusedly, before he let out a shriek of fear. You were barely able to make out his fists, banging on the hard glass, as the symbiote climbed up him and melted into his body, sending him to the floor, convulsing ferociously.
The young scientist simply turned the camera away, shaking his head in annoyance. "Test failure." before he could move to turn off the video, another person's voice piped up in the background.
"Mr. Octavius?"
"...yes?"
"What exactly are we waiting for the symbiote to accomplish?" the voice was coming from a young woman with a lab coat and a wide-eyed expression on her face.
"The symbiote-" the scientist sighed "-is looking for a host. And once it finds a host, we believe it'll become more powerful than the derived V.E.N.O.M. serum. This power...its unimaginable. But the symbiote is very...picky, for lack of a better word." The man looked back at the screen, and then moved his finger towards it. The video turned off.
You let out a breath you didn't even know you were holding, your heart racing.
A host?
"No..." you whispered under your breath as realization hit you.
The symbiote had found it's host.
Hobie.
____________________________
What the-
Hobie looked around groggily, coming back to his senses.
What happened?
He blinked, his eyes adjusting to the darkness of the alleyway which he barely remembered. He was still...there? That hungry feeling he'd had before had disappeared. Strange. Clutching his forehead in confusion he looked around.
A bag was on the floor in front of him, half-open with food packets and vegetables flowing out of it onto the dirty pavement. A little ahead of the bag was a badge. As he squinted his eyes slightly, it seemed to look like the same badge the cop from earlier was wearing.
Wait...what happened to the cop from earlier?
Hobie could barely remember...lunging at him. Grabbing him by the throat. A hiss of a voice had flooded his senses and then...
Darkness.
As he moved to reach towards the badge he stopped, breath hitching in his throat. He pulled his hand back towards him, shaky breaths escaping his lips as he fought to process what was in front of him.
His hand was covered in blood.
And so was the rest of him.
He could barely breathe, feeling panic settling in his chest. He stood up straight and stumbled back slightly as he stared at the blood dripping from his black suit- wait...black? Since when did he wear a black suit?
"What in the bloody-"
A glint caught his eye. The glint of a pistol, twisted in half, lying next to a body. A body covered in the same crimson red that was trickling down Hobie's arms and neck and mouth-
Mouth.
Why the hell was there blood on his mouth?
"No...no...no no no no no-" Hobie started to whisper, feeling as though his knees would give out any moment, the dread settling deep in the pits of his stomach and sending shivers of fear and guilt down his spine.
He'd...
Eaten someone.
Taking a few steps forward, he collapsed in front of the body, looking over it in shock. Missing an arm, a leg, a head.
Memories flooded his brain.
The voice had called the man...delicious.
That voice...
More.
Hobie jumped. He looked around furiously, fists in front of him. "Show yourself!" He called out, anger running through his veins and adding to his tone.
We want more. We need more.
He grabbed at the top of his newly black mask, crying out in frustration. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD." he yelled, punching at the air, raging, fists flying and kicks landing on solid nothing.
He fell to the ground, trembling, failing at trying to pull the black off him. "What do you want from me?" he quietly whispered, a lump forming in the back of his throat.
There is no me. Only...
Us.

Thoughts on Halsin
I want to preface this by saying I don't have anything particularly against Halsin as he is in game. But I do find him lacking in depth, when compared to everyone else.
Even without knowing that he was added as a full companion last minute, I would probably have guessed as much simply because there's not much to him beyond the role he plays in the Shadow-Curse quest of Act 2. This is lampshaded with dialogue about how he himself feels consumed by his determination to end the curse. But to me, that just feels like a cop-out. Imagine any other character looking at the camera and just saying "yeah I know I don't have much character beyond what happens to me in the plot, too bad?"
But I think the worst crime about his lack of development, is the fact that because he doesn't have a lot else going on, he feels a little overly sexualized to me; like he's just there for the player to thirst after because he's this big, bulky man. Now, to be clear, I don't care that he's horny, and I definitely don't care that he's poly. (My GF is a poly lesbian, and honestly I could see myself having more than one romantic relationship , too, if someone else was ever interested in me like that and cool with it.) What I'm trying to say is, because he's lacking in other areas, leaving those traits being of his few you can list, it makes them feel of less value, and makes him feel more like a sex prop. And if you're gonna have a character with rape victim as part of his background like Halsin has, then that's the last thing you want, I think.
So, what more could be done with Halsin?
I once made a joke that someone should draw Halsin in a "Big Auntie Energy" shirt. For those of you who aren't Native, let me try to translate: In most if not all Indigenous Nations, we often call women who are champions of our cultures and communities "Auntie", whether they are actually literally your aunt or not. An Auntie is someone you dearly love, and trust to guide you. Halsin already plays something of a mentor figure to the protagonist—indeed, dev notes even call him "avuncular"—so why not lean into it further by showing what he does for others, too? Pretending that there was more development time allotted, here's what I would've liked to see...
"This place crawls with life, but little of it flourishes. I see refugees, unhoused. The destitute, unwanted. Orphans, unloved. … I wish there was a better way. I wish everyone could see the sun, have a full belly, and know nature as a friend. There is a balance that is yet to be found." —Halsin
After ending the Shadow-Curse, Halsin says he needs to find a new purpose. I feel like his purpose could easily align with his horror of the inequalities of Baldur's Gate. Instead of just talking about how awful it is, why not allow the player to challenge him to try and change things, then? For example, I like to imagine Halsin telling stories to the orphans in Rivington, providing them comfort and someone to look up to. Or another example: Halsin helping out in or maybe starting some kind of charity meal program. It's small, but it's enough to say that he could actually grow a little as a person within the game's story. And it would add at least a little bit of engagement on the player's end as well, instead of feeling like the relationship with Halsin, platonically, is one-sided.
This all doesn't come from nowhere, by the way. If you exclusively romance Halsin, he says goodbye to the player in the end because he is leading a group of people into Thaniel's realm to start a new life. But personally, I feel like this is too great a leap back into an Archdruid role he specifically rejected, because he didn't like it. It also would've been nice to get this kind of dialogue without having to romance him; to know what lies ahead for Halsin as a friend, too.
Now, that's the good ending. But almost all the companions in BG3 have a "good" and "evil" ending. I feel like this really adds a lot of insight into the characters, because they feel real through it; we all have the potential to make good and bad choices, after all. So what could be Halsin's evil-aligned ending? Well, remember when he questions if the Shadow Druids actually have a point? How about giving the player the opportunity to push him further down that path instead... Shadow Druid Halsin, holy shit.
Now, there's one more thing I want to circle back to: Halsin's past. He very casually speaks of his time as a captive in the Underdark. And maybe it was so long ago that he's long dealt with such trauma, but still, I really wish there was a way to say "hey bud, that's really fucked up and I'm sorry that happened to you." But there's not a single dialogue option that allows you to express sympathy, besides just saying "that's awful", which doesn't cut it. Halsin himself says, "sometimes I think people look at me and imagine my feelings can't be hurt." Not allowing the player to be sensitive to his feelings goes exactly against this message not to judge a person's emotions by physical appearances.
Anyway, Halsin is a character that I think has a lot of potential, but doesn't quite reach it in game. I think it's great that he was given a bigger role due to popularity, but I just wish that role was expanded on to the same degree as the other companions.

A few years ago, I read a Luca fanfiction on Wattpad titled Sink Or Swim, and let me just say, it's officially the 2nd Luca movie in my eyes. It is honestly one of the best fanfics I've ever read.
In my opinion, most fan fiction I've read doesn't feel like the show and/or movie. What I mean is it doesn't give me the same vibe, when I read it I don't picture it as something that could happen, but something that they wish could happen.
Of course, I know that the idea of a fan fiction isn't that everything should be 100% accurate, and I get that, but most of the time, everything just feels so out of character to the point where the only resemblance I see between the fanfic and the show and/or movie are the characters.
But even then, sometimes the characters just don't seem like themselves. I can understand if you're new to a Fandom or if the fanfic is supposed to be an AU where the characters are supposed to act differently, but if not, I just find it a little hard to read.
I'm not trying to make anyone who does this feel bad at all, but when I find a fanfic with a few or all the characters acting differently I just find it a little hard to believe or imagine it happening.
When I first read Sink Or Swim, it truly felt like I was reading the script for a second movie. It is so beautifully written, full of life and creativity, so much so that I couldn't stop at the first chapter.
The plot is so creative and original, truly the perfect hook. The plot is, (and I quote)
"After a whole school year, Luca and Giulia are finally returning to Portorroso. During those nine months, Luca had developed a super-huge-enormous secret, and he's written about it dozens of times in his daily journal. He takes it home, determined to hide the contents from everyone–especially Alberto. But Alberto is stubborn, and as soon as he suspects something is fishy, he won't let up.
Wanna know the worst part?
They're sharing a bedroom."
Really makes you want to read, doesn't it?
I love how the fanfic follows the same principles as any book and/or movie. The sequence of events lines up perfectly with each other and you can understand how and why something is happening.
It has so much feeling and you can really visualize it happening. Leah made sure to keep the same dynamic that the characters have in the movie, everything they say and do actually feels like some they’d say and do.
I love how she made it feel like you’re reading a movie and the different point of views make for perfect dramatic irony. This story is wholesome, heartwarming, funny, sad, delightful, and most importantly, Luberto 😌.
I don’t think I’ll ever find a Luca fan fiction that can top Sink or Swim.
@toffee-to-be you’ve created a masterpiece.

feel free to complain to me about the ii finale <3 i'm all ears
thank you ellie :)
fair warning for ii neg, especially on the latest episode.
prefacing this with saying: I LOVE INANIMATE INSANITY!!!!!! inanimate insanity is my favourite show in the world and every episode leaves me full of joy and excitement. i adore criticizing it not out of hatred but out of genuine love. i enjoy every single episode i watch.
however, i find that iii19 has been the worst episode so far. it has gotten me the least hyped out of any episode in the series, which is saying a lot because i bounce off the walls at every episode no matter how much i end up criticizing it later. there are. so many problems i have with it. im gonna try and organize them the best i can, though i'll probably(?) edit this post later to insert anything i missed or forgot to say.
starting off positively: oj!!!! personally i am so glad he didn't talk in this episode. i was terrified of the idea of him having a new va. the spin was adorable, i loved his signature thumbs ups, and every time i saw him i squealed with delight. him voting for balloon also made me really happy! despite the grudge he's had against him for so long, he still sticks with him on this part. even after laughing at his death the episode before that
in general all the seasonwunners voted for balloon!! which makes me happy!!! paintbrush, nickel, balloon, and oj have all been there for the very beginning of season 1, three of them being there for every season. i love the inherent connection the contestants from season 1 have with each other. they've been together since inanimate insanity began and they're there for the end of season 3 too. very sweet.
onto more negative stuff! I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE WHAT THEY DID WITH SILVER SPOON AND CANDLEEE they set up something crazy in the last episode and then did NOTHING with it!!! they had silver spoon beat candle unconscious the second she said something that wasn't coddling him like the manchild he is and she STILL voted for him. where even was she for half of the episode?? they just left her lifeless corpse on the ground in iii18 and then she eventually got up in this episode and just. went back to the competition??? dogshit writing
okay now i wanna talk about cabby. I Don't Like Cabby Anymore. so from the very beginning i have loved cabby. she was extremely similar to me in fact! i have really bad memory issues and i tend to keep files on people and on things that i might forget about, as well as just to organize my thoughts and ideas. i loved her confidence, obsession with knowledge, and analytical personality at the start. i was pretty upset when the characters (mostly test tube lmao) started relentlessly bullying her, and i HATE the whole thing in spring on the breakfast where they try to demonize her files. it was kind of annoying when they tried to remedy it really quickly after that because it was clearly because of the backlash, but i was glad they at least tried to fix it. however, over the course of the series, she just felt like she was... becoming sadder? pitiful, honestly? she went from an awesome smart character who loved taking notes on people's behaviour and using that information to get better at the game into some kind of Sad Little Bullied Victim. she doesn't even feel like a character anymore to me, just a mouthpiece for the creators to write dramatic "cathartic" speeches through to prove they're Definitely Not Ableist. also what was the deal with her parents lmao they never brought that up again
aaaand this episode was generally written really badly. super fucking corny for one. they literally had a little dance party at the end like people make jokes about for stereotypical Kids' Shows. but my issue is more with like... the weird super fast character development? and the way they wrapped everything up as quickly as possible? something that bothered me was the tonal whiplash between zuwie voicing springy super hysterically and dramatically and then springy being fully redeemed within like the next 5 minutes and dying for mephone. Why did they even die for mephone. like as a character why would he of all people die for mephone. thats so fucking stupid. the rest of the voice acting felt completely different from springy's as well so it just made the effect worse. everyone's lines were really corny and felt so manufactured, like they would pull characters to mephone's side (losing my mind over all the contestants rooting for mephone like cmon man that guy sucks i just know oj at least would want him dead) with a short Cathartic Speech and everything would be fixed and lovely and peachy keen. its just painful to watch. everything feels really weirdly disjointed and badly put together, the flow is awful, the "danger" doesn't feel like there's any suspense to it at all, and every character gets fully redeemed for no good reason. even walkie talkie chats casually with mephone at the end as if they're good friends after they were HYSTERICALLY INSISTING ON MURDERING HIM? AND MAKING HIM WATCH HIS OWN DEATH?? idk if this will get explained in s2 but we still don't know who walkie talkie is, what their motive is, WHY they got redeemed, etc. we know nothing about them. and even if it will be explained later, i think it's shitty writing that NOTHING was explained in this season.
some extra stuff
- SO FUCKING GLAD THEY DIDN'T BRING HOTEL OJ INTO THIS I WOULD'VE CRIED IF THEY PUT SEASON 3 CHARACTERS INTO HOTEL OJ OR MADE IT ALL SLEEK AND S3 STYLE
- the "you can do this" thing at the end was fucking stupid man that was so corny (btw corny isn't always bad but jesus christ... this episode was just awful with it)
- could not feel any emotion towards the Emotional Parts but laughter and secondhand embarrassment
- HOW DID THEY GET THE FUNDING FOR A LIBRARY? I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT MEPHONE DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING FOR A PRIZE HOW DID HE PAY FOR AN ENTIRE LIBRARY
- speaking of, why isn't oj back at the hotel. doesn't he have to manage it. wasn't paper having a ton of trouble managing it. why are all of them still on that fuckass island. did the library take like 5 minutes to build what the fuck
- ALSO!!! Why did they build a library in the middle of a deserted island
- i liked the short nickloon scene because im a nicklooner
- glad yinyang and candle got to talk
- test tube saying nearly nothing at all the entire episode except for sitting on the ground in a really stupid pose and apologizing to cabby made me laugh
- weirded out by tt and fan not talking to each other at all? not as a ship thing but like they're best friends aren't they
- really fucking annoyed by the fantube family picture at the end i hate fantube family leave that grown ass adult (bot) alone
- glad they didn't canonize any ships i was so scared about silvercandle and fantube
- 4s scene and s1 flashback was cool i love s1 so i got excited
- aaaaand i think my misogyny thread is relevant again. i should update it sometime because ii has only gotten worse about it lmao
- didn't like them making clover stupid for some reason like "is he talking about me?" come on
- oj not talking in these last two episodes is so glaringly unusual because he's never been able to shut his fucking mouth for even a minute

alright, so, now that i am not an incandescent ball of fury:
i was extremely disappointed with go2 and downright angry about the way it concluded. i've already read some excellent posts by other lovely people that articulate some of my grievances really well (which sadly i can't link here or the site will eat this post entirely) but i want to add my own to the pile. if you enjoyed the season then more power to you, but i very much did not.
after this post i won't be complaining about s2 again or really posting anything about it at all, positive or negative, and will probably just block the tag entirely. like i said in my much shorter vent post last night, i just want to get all of my negativity out in one go and then pretend it doesn't exist. with that out of the way:
the pacing was terrible. the plot went in circles around itself and the mystery was handled so poorly that it somehow managed to be too convoluted and too simple at the same time. we spent five entire episodes wondering what was going on only to have it resolved by an exposition dump of about five minutes. the mini-sodes ground multiple episodes to a halt and squandered the majority of the season's runtime on pointless fanservice that cheapened some of the previous season's most emotional moments, runtime that could have been better spent setting up the gabriel mystery or developing literally any of the new characters introduced. speaking of which,
the new characters were pointless. nina and maggie were given no characterization beyond being pale expies of az and crowley, and the fact that a substantial part of the b-plot revolved around them makes this even more apparent. i do not remember the name of the angel pretending to be a constable and i don't care enough about them to look it up, they had literally no plot significance whatsoever. same goes for the processing demon from the third episode. the flip with jax from being a somewhat neutral character to a big bad in a party city wig felt like a failed attempt to recapture some of what made hastur and ligur work in the previous series.
gabriel and beelzabub. their relationship was unbelievable and clashed so heavily with their previous characterizations. i called it from the first episode and dreaded its conclusion right up to the finale. they feel like an ill-thought parody of ineffable husbands pulled out of an enemies-to-lovers crackfic. every romantic moment in the last episode was insipid and cloying, and them getting a consequence free happy ending retroactively cheapened the stakes of the previous season. it honestly felt like the writers just wanted to mash their dolls together.
aziraphale's character was assassinated and crowley was basically just there to play the hits. both of them were flanderized to the moon and back, but poor aziraphale got the worst of it. all of his character development from the previous season was thrown out the window in order to give us the big angsty conclusion set-up for a third season. they were both utterly flattened and i feel so bad for michael and david, they were clearly doing the best with what they were given but what they were given was just plain bad.
most of the humor and warmth from the book and the previous season were just… gone. no narrator, only one or two comedic asides from the title cards, a total of maybe three minutes of queen music across the whole thing (and most of that a piano cover), and a whole lot of little stylistic touches that went by the wayside and left the world feeling a bit hollow. also the comedy in this season was much more reliant on a "hey, aren't the characters acting so silly right now? aren't they failing at looking/acting normal? isn't that funny?" style of humor than on the wit and subtle satire of the first.
it was nothing but set up for a third season. learning this after finishing the season did not make me feel better about any of it, but it does explain a bit why it felt like all set up and no pay off. i have zero confidence about the ship being righted in a potential s3 that we likely will not see for many years (if at all, i'm already hearing murmurs about the show getting axed).
so that's basically it. i'll reiterate that if you enjoyed this season then i have no beef with you; your opinions are your own and, while i have no desire to have a dialogue about them, i respect them. but the original good omens book was very personally meaningful to me, as was its adaptation in s1, and this poorly thought out continuation has disappointed and saddened me to the point that i feel like i don't want to engage with the fandom in its wake.

Hey Admin! I just really love your mindset and analysis but based on your insta stories, mind telling us your unpopular opinions or confessions too?❣️
// Aww, thank you, I’m glad to hear that!! But I wasn’t expecting someone to ask for my unpopular confessions or opinions. :”)
Anyway, I’ll try to write some. Feel free to add your thoughts regarding this if you want to. <3
1. More than half of the fandom portrays Yui in such a different way from her canon version, whether if it’s positive or negative. In the routes she says or does something but so many people understand the total opposite that it appears as if they aren't paying attention to her.
2. Kino is one of the few characters who is naturally funny.
3. The superior rivalries are Koubaru and Shuma because they actually helped each other develop as characters and made the plot more interesting. Even if it sounds impossible, Kanato and Azusa have a better chance of getting along than Ayato and Ruki. From Ruki's perspective, Ayato is the man who stole everything he ever desired: Karl's "love" and Eve.
4. Laito has done many horrible things and is not the best brother, but he is not heartless, but rather mentally damaged. A part of him enjoys seeing others suffer, while another part feels bad for them.
5. You can’t be biased towards Ayato when you call him the most heroic Diaboy with the most likeable traits because those are facts. Rejet confirmed a bunch of times that Ayato is the main hero and a character “you can’t bring yourself to hate”. Even the Japanese fandom sometimes refers to him as “メインヒーロー.” He is supposed to be the most heroic love interest, that’s the role he was given.
6. Some OCs are more interesting than all the DL main cast characters and honestly their creators are more creative than Rejet writers.
7. People who complain about Yui being “too kind, too childish, too sweet” and lacking “attitude and self respect” in Ayato’s routes, are the most insensitive ones. Just say already that you like the pressure being put on Yui, making her solve your Diaboy’s problems and teach him how to love despite the fact she doesn’t know that either. Besides, she’s usually a kind and cheerful person, the only times she got an “attitude” are when she’s absolutely done with the bad behavior of the Diaboy. Also, Yui's version in Ayato's routes is the official one; it doesn't have to be your favorite, but if you don't like her there, you don't like the true Yui.
8. I like the fact Rejet learnt about Romanian history and made the Mukamis and Yui Romanians, but what Karl did to Romanians in one of the worst time periods, is beyond horrible.
9. We won’t ever get a new DL main game because LE ended their journey. However, I hope they make another AU or a fanservice one.
10. Yui deserved better, the Diaboys deserved better, the moms deserved better, Richter deserved better but not Karlheinz. He's an intriguing character, but he shouldn't be redeemed, which is fine because not every character requires it. Furthermore, he committed far too many atrocities against innocent people to merit a redemption arc.

Willow also for the character ask game
General opinion/how much I care about them: I’ve always really liked Willow, ever since I first watched Buffy.  I think that she is without doubt the second most complex and richest character on the show (after Buffy herself, of course).  I like that Willow gets to be a girl who is good with computers and likes math puns and teaches her friends trigonometry.  I like that she gets to turn Xander down in Prophecy Girl despite spending years waiting for him to notice her.  I like the fact that she has a real arc across the show’s run, one that often involves her not being a very admirable person.  I like that she’s a bit of a hypocrite and that she isn’t afraid to hold a grudge.  I like that all her worst flaws arise naturally out of her greatest virtues.
A ship I love: Boring answer maybe but I think all of Willow’s canon relationships are good in their own way.  (Well, all her canon relationships apart from the one with the evil demon that lives in the internet.  Not really sure about that one.)  Wanting to be loved and to be in a romantic relationship feels like a very substantial part of Willow’s character, actually (see, relatedly, all the different  times Willow tries to make Buffy happier by setting her up with somebody). But sure, Tara/Willow is my favorite.  It’s the best (and arguably most long-lasting) thing to come out of Season 4, too.
A non-romantic relationship that I love: Buffy and Willow’s friendship is one of the most important parts of the show to me, and I think it’s as important to them as any other relationship either of them have.  And I honestly think it is better done and develops more organically than any of Buffy’s romances. Willow’s journey from “why is the new girl being nice to me? what does she want? I’d better memorize and act on every bit of bad advice she gives me so she’ll like me” to “Buffy is my best friend and we’re going to go to grad school together, so she simply isn’t allowed to stay dead” (and Buffy’s corresponding journey from “why is my brand new friend Cordelia being so mean to this poor girl?  wait, is Cordelia a bad person?  am I?” to “okay, since bad things will happen to Willow if I don’t stop the Master I guess I’ll just go and fight the Master and die“) just feels a lot more real than any number of love at first sight plotlines.  I really wish they got to talk more in Season 7.
The NOTP: I think not having Willow and Xander end up together is one of the smartest choices the early seasons of the show ever made.  As childhood friends they work really well, but as a couple … no.
My biggest headcanon about them: I’ve decided that I think Willow and Cordelia were friends when they were very young, and that the whole “We Hate Cordelia” stuff only happened after Cordelia met Harmony and publicly distanced herself from Willow to fit in with her new cooler friends.  I think that explains some of Willow’s animosity to Harmony in particular (who she seems to hate more than Cordelia, even though we barely ever see Willow and Harmony interact), and I don’t think the way Willow and Cordelia talk to each other in late S1 / early S2 really makes sense if they’ve never gotten on before.  (This theory fits the little the show reveals about their personal timelines, too, I think: the show at least implies that Xander has known Cordelia for a couple of years longer than Willow has known Harmony, and we also know that Willow and Xander have been inseparable since kindergarten.)
An idea for a fanfiction I would like to write/read about them: If I ever find the time and energy to write a direct sequel to my Season 3 Buffy AU, I think Willow would be the main character.  (I actually have a vague outline half plotted out for it and everything, though it’s really not very likely I will find the time to work on it any time soon.)   Maybe I’ve just never looked in the right places, but I don’t think there are many plot-heavy Buffy fanfics where Willow plays a truly central role.
Something that makes me think of them: Uh. So, this is a bit of a non sequitur (and very much a case of me projecting onto my blorbo, I know) but it kind of annoys me that the show suggests that Willow is majoring in sociology (or at least something adjacent to that) in college.  Yes, I get that she has to be in the same classes as Buffy sometimes in Season 4 and 5 for plot reasons, and she has to be doing something Buffy at least expects to be able to follow for the brief and disappointing return to college in Season 6 to work.  And yes, I know that Season 4 deliberately plays up the whole “Willow’s not into computers much these days, if you know what I mean” angle, (although I’d note that she still seems to know her way around a computer fine in later seasons when the plot requires it).
But in high school Willow was clearly more into STEM than anything else, what with the science fairs and the hacking and being head-hunted by a computer company and … look, I just think she should have been allowed to major in math, okay?
I mean, abstract algebra has root systems and crystals and spurious use of the word ‘quantum’ and really atrociously bad puns!  You get to learn a secret little language that most people don’t understand and consider yourself part of a semi-mystical tradition stretching back thousands of years and draw elaborate geometric figures and convince yourself you’re learning something fundamental about the nature of reality just by thinking really hard! You’re telling me teenage Wiccan and confirmed nerd Willow Rosenberg – who was covering for her computer science teacher as a high school junior and who, it’s at least implied, did even better at the math component of the SAT than the verbal, and who explicitly chose Sunnydale in part because she’d be able to design her own curriculum  – wouldn’t love all of that?
… anyway, yes, as I said, it’s possible I may be projecting here just a tiny little bit.
But anyway.  My answer to the actual question is that sometimes I am reading a math textbook and I think: “oh, I bet Willow would love learning about this”.

Can I please get the whole girl gang with Ori, Mela, Vaela, and Riven!
[send me a character]
Oh boy you're making me do my homework over here!
Oriana —
Favorite thing about them: I'm going to be incredibly non-specific and say that her growth as a character was my favorite part of playing her. She started out as this uptight, dutiful monk who was scared to show her own face too much for fear of making people mildly uncomfortable (and honestly to avoid invasive questions) to someone who was finally getting comfortable with who they were was such a blast. I love her newly-acquired confidence and the dynamic it brings to her post-campaign. She's far from perfect, and never will be, but she's maturing and making a new purpose for herself other than being someone's errand girl.
Least favorite thing about them: She is the worst pessimist in the world and sometimes her logic is so quick to jump to the worst conclusions that she literally puts her foot in her mouth. And it hurts for me to write that every single time due to secondhand embarrassment but I have to commit.
Favorite line: "She loved you! She still loves you!" at the Prince during the final fight while she's trying to distract him (or something like that). Or Ori's first jab at Damak "Maybe you would see more of it if you stepped out of the shadows" since it still makes me chuckle.
brOTP: Even though the Ori/Damak ship didn't sail, I still think they probably stay pretty close and end up working together on jobs in the future. They absolutely still push each other's buttons, but that's just how they are and they don't question it.
OTP: I am so mad at myself retroactively for not giving into the OriRanna feels by the conclusion of the campaign but I do not regret bringing it up afterwards and getting to enjoy it now at least.
nOTP: Ori and Cobalt are forever divorced and they barely know each other, this is just canon.
Random Headcanon: Ori has a hard time accepting the fact that Sharaea is basically keeping her distance after the Prince's defeat. In part because she does feel that connection still and worries that Sharaea is hurting, and partially because it is such a strange sensation to her to be without the dreams for so long after such a major revelation. It takes her a long time to get used to it, but she still wishes that there was more she could do.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion among our little group, but I never had intentions of making Oriana some kind of fated hero. I never had thoughts of making her tied to a major NPC or giving her any kind of serious destiny, I just wanted to play a radiant energy bomb with the aasimar/monk combo because I thought it would be funny once I pitched the idea to Sam and he told me about Damak who was basically her foil. But I do adore how her story developed and how well it ended up narratively.
Song I associate with them: So many... "Like the Dawn" by The Oh Hellos, "Warrior" by AURORA, and "Drumming Song" by Florence + The Machine to name a few.
Favorite picture of them: I like a lot but honestly one of my favs is the one I made of Chibs trying to hit on her, partly because it's Chibs and partly because I did really like how Ori's outfit came out in this one.
Tumblr media
Mela —
Favorite thing about them: Literally the most wholesome member of the group. Not a bad bone or crystal in her body. I am so sorry for all that we put her though.
Least favorite thing about them: Only that I didn't get enough time to learn more about her and her backstory. Sigh.
Favorite line: "Real neighbors. Real family. Not just people that make you feel like you can pretend it doesn't exist."
brOTP: Mela and Halion. Druid buddies that deserve the world.
OTP: Mela is an independent Genasi who don't need no one... though I could be swayed about a certain fae...
nOTP: Literally anyone who would try to be mean to her in a relationship will meet a swift end by my hand.
Random Headcanon: 100% think that Mela's magic is flavored to look like the crystals on her body. If she wildshapes and doesn't specifically want to look a certain way, the animal she changes into will have things like crystal horns/claws, the flame sword she summons has the appearance of a crystal blade, etc.
Unpopular Opinion: I do wish she had gotten a chance to use wild shape more. I think Mela being a cute little critter sneaking around would have been amazing.
Song I associate with them: "Come Out and Play" by Billie Eilish
Favorite picture of them: That dang sketch I never colored, rip
Tumblr media
Vaela —
Favorite thing about them: Drinking game QUEEN. Also just the fact that she doesn't take any shit while still having a lot of heart and empathy to those who earn it. Something about that balance between the two just made her all the more lovable.
Least favorite thing about them: she can out-drink my high constituion monk I do think I missed out on really getting to know her during the campaign, and I regret that a lot.
Favorite line: Not a specific line but I think back to Vaela's talks with Erosen when he was ready and willing to be her stand-in dad before Vaela was ready to reach back out to her family and i can't help but smile.
brOTP: Vaela, Riven, and Mela is the real brot3 and nothing can change my mine
OTP: I mean... I definitely have a certain paladin that turns a lovely shade of pink when someone talks about her because she sure is pretty and really cool to boot~
nOTP: Zaresh and his memory is not allowed to ever hurt Vaela again. If Damak didn't do it, Ori would have definitely put him out of his misery.
Random Headcanon: Very little thing, but I could see her gathering small, light trinkets that remind her of her friends and tie them to her bow, possibly for good luck, and possibly as a way to to tell which direction the wind is blowing when she's aiming.
Unpopular Opinion: I still think it would have been cool for her to pull an Erosen and punch Zaresh in the face. Just once.
Song I associate with them: "Dear Fellow Traveler" by Sea Wolf
Favorite picture of them: So fun fact: I never finished them but I started making emojis of the party members for kicks and here's the one I started of Vaela:
Tumblr media
Riven —
Favorite thing about them: Riven's sassiness and perfect comedic timing always leaves me in stitches. She really felt like the heart of the party in that way.
Least favorite thing about them: This is the hardest thing and most of my "least favorite" things are mostly the things Oriana keeps fretting about when she thinks about Riven being in such a high position so I'm gonna go with not much at this time to be honest.
Favorite line: Not a line again, but specifically the scene between Ori and Riven where Riv dressed her up while Ori reassured her that she didn't think any less of Riven after they all found out about her half-drow heritage. That always felt like a major point in their friendship and I hold onto it fondly.
brOTP: I wanna say Riven and Halion just because I think their friendship was so neat, and it hurts a bit when I think about their falling out post-campaign. But there's also Riv and Damak's sibling-ish dynamic that I love a lot, too.
OTP: As much as he pushes Ori's nerves, I do think Riv and Delethil are on the same wavelength as each other and fit very well together, even with Eravin in the mix.
nOTP: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Random Headcanon: On the occasions where Oriana comes up to Aerenth on business (either with Ranna for her research or at the request of various Tyados officials who think she's got some kind of in with them because she's friends with Riven), Ori always makes a point to find Riven and any of the other girls that might be there with them after all the formalities are done and run off into the woods to find a clearing to just hang out in like they did before.
Unpopular Opinion: As much as I understand the reason why she and Del made the choice to execute Vasion, I still disagree that it was the best decision.
Song I associate with them: "Savage Daughter" by Sarah Hester mostly because of the rebellious vibes
Favorite picture of them: I mean... I think it's obvious (also bonus Vaela).

So I've said my part about ofmd season 2s finale and that I didn't even care anymore that my favourite character died, but the show had such an insane decline from season 1 to season 2 it was simply not as enjoyable for the entire time.
So here's a quick critique of open issues that stuck with me:
-they killed Ivan off-screen and he's only mentioned once in passing, no one cares or questions where he is when they meet again, they were fine with Izzy there, but didn't even bother asking about a crew member they were much closer with -Buttons turned into a seagull (which I didn't think was bad) and it's only questioned once by Roach and then never again brought up, and Roach asks if Ed didn't simply kill him and it's just ignored -Ed doesn't really become part of the crew, he doesn't pay up for what he did and why is Izzys deathbed apology more sincere than Ed's non apology about Izzys leg? He doesn't deserve to come back at all, because he doesn't do anything to earn it. He spends a day with Fang and that counts for the whole crew, Fang who isn't even angry at him -Izzy actually earns his place within the crew and still has to apologize to Ed, his worst abuser. Sure Izzy was part of the problem with Blackbeard, but in no way does it justify what Ed did to him (and everyone else while he was Captain of the Revenge) -remember last season when Ed made it clear that he only ever killed one person, and then in the finale he coldly pushed Lucius over and it was therefore a big deal? Yeah Ed just randomly kills like it's nothing now, and "go back to what you were good at", it wasn't killing, Ed was never good at killing
-they barely paid attention to the non ships aside from Izzy and it sucks. We had such a wonderful balance in season 1 of crew live, that we got to love them all, we didn't have any of that in season 2, it's so plain when you look at Archie, she just didn't get what her crewmates got to the point you don't care about her all that much -speaking of Archie, that relationship something with Olo, JIm, Archie and Zhang Yi Sao was a mess, they sank of the biggest relationships from season 1, which had such a well done ark in the first episodes, and many, myself included thought we might get a poly relationship, but we didn't, we got the mess we had. We had a well developed relationship that took an entire season to build and it got removed during the first three episodes in favour of two new underdeveloped characters getting with them in no time
-I know we are not historically accurate and don't bother too much with it, but Zheng Yi Sao is the most powerful female pirate in history and they nerved her for nothing, I did like how Richard got rid of her fleet, but they should have used someone else than a pirate known for dying peacefully because she got so powerful she made a deal
-the pacing was obviously bad, and I want to give them as much nicety about it as possible, but Owl House got cut from an entire season to three episodes and they still manged to nail it, ofmd lost 2 episodes and it doesn't excuse this pacing
-honestly Izzys redemption ark was rushed, just so he could be killed off, it was too much, too fast. I do love the first few episodes of him, but doing drag was a bit far fetched for episode 6, but it's a small complain, loved the singinig and dancing
-"bottle it up" is the new solution to problems, after "talk it through as a crew" from season 1. Lucius, Frenchie and Izzy just bottle everything up and nothing bad comes of it, we're supposed to believe that's a good thing? -everyone knows Stede is alive, Mary relies on him being dead and it's never brought up or important whatsoever
-this season feels like there aren't proper consequences, Ed can leave and come back and it's fine, Buttons can turn into a seagull and no one cares, Auntie gets blown up with the fleet and survives, people get stabbed multiple times and survive, but Izzy gets shot and dies, it's all over the place -there is always the whole: we have a suicidal character, they try to kill themselves, they fail, they get over their depression, they finally get happy, and we kill them off just after they found happyness. It sucks as a trope, it gives every last person that is suicidal the feeling that being happy is not worth it, because you're going to die anyway and well, maybe don't have the characer that tried to kill himself this season a line about wanting to go and in the same episode that had "it's only suicide if we die", it's tasteless at best and ill-intended at worst
-Roach is in the main cast now, but I swear he had more scenes in season 1 than seaosn 2
-having a tiny funeral scene and bam wedding, like there was no decent emotional impact on either of these moments, any why would they bury him without his leg or ring?
-Stede has a panic moment when he kills Ned and it seems like that's why he and Ed slept togeher, but it's not brought up that killing is still an issue
To end it on a few positive notes, I liked -Swede becomes Jackies husband and Roach going Mrs Bettet about the whole thing -most of the first three episodes in general -Buttons turning into a seagull and being recognized as a seawitch -having more historical figures -Auntie -Susan (mostly) aside from the issue I brought up -Wee John getting into knitting -Izzy sining and dancing -the entire leg arch of Izzy -pretty much all Izzy/Stede interactions -Frenchie sceming again and the rest all going with it -indigo! -everyones new looks -Fang going fishing and his and Roachs spa day -the after credit scenes -Ed freaking out because Stede moved too fast -Stede having a killing flashback when killing Ned Low -Spanish Jackie in general, but especially poisoning everyone and getting Swede a new look -Richard as the main antagonist -Clocks -Stede getting Hellcat Maggie and the to mutiny -the entire cast was amazing
And I shouldn't have to say this, but: don't harass people over this, critiquing is fine, threats are not. And no it's not bury your gays, everyone here is gay and that is not one of the issues this season had.

13, 14, 16, and 21. Bring on violence
worst blorboficiation
omfg. Nathalie by a long shot. Literal terrorist. Cool motivation, still murder. Retroactively worse considering sentimonster development. People posture "oh adrien deserves a good mom!" and like.. no, nobody needs a mom. But having good adult role models is very helpful. Sabine could easily fill that role- and if they weren't cowards, they could fufil the mirror of "Marinette comes from a family of bakers but is into fashion" with "Adrien comes from a family of fashion designers but is into baking"
that one thing you see in fics all the time
Lila. People use her as a crutch for villainy. She's 14 ffs, not a megacorp bajillionare d20 on max charisma stat.
Person who is reading this? if you're gunna use Lila as a villian, don't. It's not new, it's not interesting, it's not even fun anymore. Use someone with already established bullying tendancies: (Kim, Chloe, Alya) Find someone new, corrupt a current chracter.
If you need Marinette expelled or excommunicated, do something that would actually get her expelled- she accidentally broke something valuable due to her clumsiness. Taking the fall for another classmate? One too many late arrivals. A failing grade due to ladybugging. Was caught tyring to break through a window to get out.
you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
Zoe. She's a result of bad writing and merch sales, has like.. no personality. They should have grabbed an established background character and elevated them. what about weathergirl? or sabrina?
What if Sabrina being given the bee- or even the dog again- gave her a new perspective, and her growing up and getting a spine is what drove Chloe to become friends with Lila?
Zoe feels narratively useless, and the impact of her arrival is negligible. She brings nothing new or interesting to the table.
part of canon you think is overhyped
Chat Blanc. Like I get it- and like much of the show, it's good potential... but he's not that great, interesting, or even well-executed. The plot with bunnix isn't good either.
Honestly, it could have been a good intro to "Kwami powers without humans as a filter is dangerous" via Gabriel forcing Nooroo to make an akuma. That would keep identity intact, overpower Chat's willpower, and be an incredibly devastating event.
Hell, even if they kept him dead silent, it would have been way more interesting and intimidating. I can't take him seriously with his tearful "uwu save meee huuu" and wiping tears away.

Just to save you time.
The new ghostbusters movie is BORING. It's not just bad, it's bland.
No character development, I didn't laugh until 2/3 of the way thru, a lot of retcon, and honestly? It feels like a made for tv movie. Like it adds nothing to the ghostbuster universe. Also how can Dan Aykroyd lose his acting skills!? He felt like he was reading off cue cards the whole time.
Bad as the reboot with all females? NO. BUT, actually less funny than that movie. It's BORING. Seriously, I laughed at the horribly written all female cast one (mostly due to Lesie) than I did this movie. I mean, Paul Rudd was a BLIP of nothing. No joke, this may be Paul Rudd's worst movie. It's bad, he's boring, and nothing happens you care about.
Also the theme of 'freezing you with your fears' while the bad guy just having ice breath was fucking dumb. Why even mention the fear part if everyone is just frozen to death?
Ghostbusters 5: 2.4/10.
Ps- best part? Who they got as mayor. It's a cameo you didn't expect, but it's the only thing unexpected the whole movie. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE UNLESS YOU WANT TO KILL TIME. Because other than time, it kills brain cells.

td new cast ranking (spoilers)
hiii if you know me at all you know i loveeeee ranking things and i already made a tierlist but i'd love to give my detailed thoughts on the new cast. maybe to get them out of my system maybe to have more thoughts to develop later?? who knows. i've also already shifted around rankings so they're different from my tierlist bc as i wrote this my opinions changed and developed SDJFKD. but anyway. new cast ranking with explanations under the cut!!
16. Chase - I mean. It's Chase. His relationship with Emma is... not good! He is kind of the worst! However this does make him the tiniest bit funny . He's extremely pathetic and a misogynist and a bad boyfriend however. The undeniable fail energy is amusing. When he isn't winning. Like this man is at his best when he is absolutely failing, so Emma needs to break up with him. For her own sake, obviously, but also for Chase's failure energy to remain strong. He cannot get what he wants he needs to remain failing!!!
15. Caleb - There's nothing wrong with Caleb. Unfortunately there is also just. Nothing with Caleb, period. I'm fully expecting this to be rectified next season, but for now like... this man is not even a character. Nowhere else to rank him but here. Although this does go to show how much I like the cast LMAO because everyone above him is someone I have mostly positive feelings towards.
14. Nichelle - She was sooo funny I love how everyone (including the cast!) thought she was gonna be so good but then she turned out to be a girlfailure. We need more girlfailures in Total Drama and this season delivered!! We didn't see too much of her (and honestly?? She didn't stand out too much to me until her girlfailure tendencies were revealed which was right near the end lmao) but I fully believe she's gonna be GREAT next season. Especially with my suspicions that next season is going to be sort of similar to TDA, with fewer generally physical/Survivor-inspired challenges, and more entertainment industry related challenges. Idk she didn't give us very much but I do have hopes for her next season. Also her elimination was sooo Jerry's fault. I wonder if my season 2 predictions are right if Jerry might show up? I hope so. Get your revenge Nichelle!!
13. Emma - EMMA GET UP!!!!! Chase is not the love of your life he is not even the love of your week!!! Once again though, the loser tendencies are soooo strong in Emma. Idk I liked the haterism it was good. We need more of that and less of her and Chase. Break up with him!! She and Bowie were a fun duo while they lasted, I honestly love the way their designs really complimented each other? Probably my favorite version of Emma was during the pole challenge, like. Yessss get angry that was so fun. She did get back with Chase at the end of that but. Let's ignore all that. Idk she's just silly!! I think I'm getting repetitive at this point but I do want to leave this with the final thought that, once more, she NEEDS to break up with Chase. For his fail energies to remain intact, for her dignity and standards, and for me as the audience... leave that boy!! Kiss Nichelle or Julia instead I'm fully convinced Emma does not know girls are even an option and once she does it is OVER for Chase.
12. MK - I was expecting MK to be one of my favorites preseason and while she was not, I still liked her. I hope her parting words were foreshadowing and next season she makes a friend, because (as I've seen other people mention), she kind of... needs to have some sort of connections to be an interesting character? And the fact that she seems opposed to that makes any potential friendships next season even more interesting. I also love how she just has no respect for the intended rules of the game and Chris just... lets her do her thing. It is so funny. Like yesss hang out and control the shields. Watch all the confessionals with the phone you shouldn't have and also upload a video of Julia bullying a dinosaur. Honestly the lack of care Chris had surrounding phones in general this season (especially considering his initial show of confiscating what turned out to be like. A fraction of Julia's phones) was so funny. Sam and Dakota were watching from their couch fuming I just know it. Or maybe they were happy for the new generation. Who knows.
11. Zee - He's just fun! Like... chill guy. Was definitely high the whole season. I do maybe think he could've benefited from being around an episode or two less? Like he was good, but it wasn't like he was exactly getting any development or anything? He was kind of static character, which is fine, and he was a likable one for sure! But if he'd gone home two episodes sooner we wouldn't have had that . Nose scene. Which kinda makes me gag every time I think about it. Genuinely I don't think Total Drama has ever grossed me out more. Which is a feat. I need more of him and Ripper next season the whole bird scene with them was hilarious. Honestly, his dynamic with Chase was pretty funny too? Idk. Just a good dude! I also thought his different stories about losing his leg were great.
10. Millie - She wasn't really doing anything for me until the very end? I thought the concept of her character was kind of creative but I found her like... initial sort of... self-important deal kind of obnoxious? Her friendship with Priya was sweet but again, for the first half of it I found it kind of one-sided (on Priya's end) and so I wasn't loving her. Of course, at the end she became invested in the friendship, had her previous sort of... bad friend behavior revealed, and then was like... surprisingly vulnerable for Total Drama standards? Not unheard of, but not like... what I expected. And reconciled with Priya with everything out in the open. And that completely changed my feelings on the character (which had already been sort of slowly shifting). Overall, I still feel like she's one of my least favorites on the cast, but I still like her, and honestly, if I were to rewatch, she might be ranked higher. The fact that she admitted that she was only writing about everyone like that because it was easier to judge them than try to fit in was really good and rewatching those earlier scenes with that in mind might make me more sympathetic to her then? I do also really like a friendship between two people who haven't had friends before. So. Honestly I'm liking her more as I'm writing this. I really hope they do something good with this friendship next season. Also okay this is so funny when I wrote all this out she was number 14 and I keep moving her up one rank at a time. She's climbing.
9. Priya - PRIYA my friend Priya. Girls when they are normal and regular and have no problems whatsoever. You cannot expect me to be normal about someone who has grown up friendless making their first friend and immediately getting very attached. I absolutely loved her defending Millie in front of Chase that was when I knew I was gonna get attached to her character. Like... come on. I mentioned this in the Millie ranking but I kind of love how their friendship played out? Like in the moment as I was watching I wasn't sure I was loving it but after the fact? Yeah it's good. I like the way there was some tension but they actually communicated and resolved things. And of course there is Priya's whole Deal like. There is so much to unpack there. She has been training for Total Drama for her whole life for her parents and now she's done it!!! I hope season two sees her resolve to put her foot down and go to med school because like. I need her to have her happy ending.
8. Ripper - As I said in another post Ripper has unfortunately grown on me. Like mold. When they're not using him for grossout humor, Ripper is actually like... hilarious? The humor this season was honestly surprisingly good (again, barring the grossout jokes) and Ripper was like. Delivering. He is so pathetic and we all know I find that a wonderful trait for a character to have. Like... "So you're not gonna see me cry! I'll wait until I get home." like that is so 😭😭 honestly it's the delivery half the time. As the season went on I liked him more and honestly I liked how he tried to help Millie win back Priya? Idk. I was annoyed with his team for booting people I liked more instead of him like. Three times. But I like him now. He's just a silly loser guy. He's also bi but I'm not sure he knows it yet.
7. Bowie - GUYS. I was never in the camp that thought Fresh was gonna write the gay characters abysmally, I had a little bit of faith, but they really exceeded my expectations. Bowie was SO fun. The perfect reality TV villain honestly- having fun with it! His alliance with Emma was good, but IMO the highlights were obviously the Julia rivalry/fake alliance (rivalliance??) and RAJBOW. I wish we got to see more of Bowie and Julia because that dynamic was amazing, and I hope they continue to interact next season, and then of course his relationship with Raj was just. Really good. If Emchase was the price we had to pay to get Rajbow... then it was worth it. Like they were so good?? Raj's little crush?? The mouth guard??? The poem????? I do think it's a little unfortunate that they had their first kiss in a pool of tapioca pudding but this is Total Drama we're talking about. And they didn't seem to mind. Very excited to see what they do with their relationship next season. Back to Bowie on his own, I was talking about how funny Ripper was at times and Bowie was also one of the absolute funniest characters this season. As I've mentioned before I love haterism and Bowie has it in the most fun ways possible. Sometimes he would say exactly what I was thinking as I watched a scene. Top tier Total Drama confessionalist. The majority of the best confessionals this season had to have come from him. I love his scheming I love his humor I love his strategy and I love his relationships like... that is a good TD character right there!
6. Damien - I feel like he's gonna win next season. I'm not sure whether that's a genuine prediction, or whether I'm simply manifesting, but... come on! He was just fun! He wasn't a standout at first, but pretty quickly he became one of my favorites (and was promptly voted off </3) like. First of all. He was the first one to call Scary Girl Scary Girl so I have him to thank for that amazing name. Second of all, he's just... sweet! I loved the little hints of Damien/Priya we got this season, I'm definitely here for that relationship if they choose to make it canon in the next season. The Damien and Scary Girl dynamic was also absolute gold like yesss chase him around on a jackhammer. Anyway now he's actually gonna try to play the game, and I'd love to see him do well! He's got like... such a fun energy and enthusiasm. He's truly got "just some guy" energy which is wonderful. We need more "just some guy"s. I just think he's neat!
5. Raj - Top 5 time lets go... technically he is tied with the next entry (do not separate) but I didn't want to mess up the format so. Raj! I've talked about Rajbow already but let me reiterate: Rajbow good. Raj's crush was so sweet and I really enjoyed watching those two get together! But talking about something I haven't talked about yet... Raj and Wayne! Their friendship was SO good my god... I loved their incomprehensible (to me) hockey talk. I loved the genuine love and support between the two. I LOVED the joint medevac like SDJFL it would be wrong to send one home without the other... I hope if they're eliminated next season they go out in a double elimination or something... Idk both of their energy this season was just fun!
4. Wayne - Once again, tied with Raj, and I said most of what I wanted to say about Wayne already? But I do think the excitement he had surrounding Raj coming out to him was so good. You may think you're Rajbow's biggest fan, but nobody is a bigger fan of Rajbow than Wayne.
3. Julia - She just. She just got better and better as the season went on. She was already kind of funny with her influencer speak but when she got hashtag cancelled for BULLYING A DINOSAUR she became so much better. I've already mentioned how much I love her rivalry with Bowie so I won't talk about that too much. I will say I loved that one moment when they both fully judged Emma and Chase's relationship as well as their joint confessional like the rivalry was good but I need these two actually aligning even more. I also think she and Emma should kiss or something. I hope she sticks around for a while next season even though she went pretty far this season like... I need her to make the merge at least. LOVED her challenge beast tendencies, winning all those clutch immunities... What a character. Top tier TD antagonist, or at least close to it.
2. Axel - Yes I got attached to the second boot. What can I say she's coming to win next season trust! Idk you cannot show me a zombie apocalypse prepper character (who is clearly gay) and not expect her to be my favorite. Loved when she pushed Ripper off the boat. Love when she bit Ripper's hand. Love when she killed a bunch of squirrels and cooked them for her team like that's a team player right there!! Not to peddle the ScaryAxel agenda toooo hard but. I need to see them align next season like girl who is really into horror and girl who is really into survival/zombie apocalypse stuff? And they both bit Ripper and will eat cooked squirrel together? Ummmm that's couple goals. Honestly I want to see more of the Axel and Ripper rivalry too. Honestly just wanna see more Axel she rocks
1. Scary Girl - Surprising nobody. I know she's like... kind of a gimmick character which I've historically not totally loved but... she's so good. The voice acting (as others have mentioned) does a LOT for her like props to the VA, she really makes the character. The animation in general this season was a major improvement but it definitely helps Scary Girl as a character too. She had a great dynamic with Damien for what little time she was there, I've mentioned the potential of ScaryAxel already, and. Tell me you don't see how Scary Ripper could be one of thee funniest dynamics ever. The dynamic is called Scary Ripper and one of their key interactions was her trying to bite him. Do not get me started on Scary Axe Ripper like the name itself is just too much fun and BOTH of them have tried to bite him (one succeeded). She got voted out because she wanted to make sure the skull she needed to bring to Chris looked presentable and she just. Did the skull's hair and makeup to match hers. And then kept the skull when she was voted out and brought it with her to the finale. I hope the skull is also in season two. Scary Girl is the Total Drama character of all time.

Honestly, I’m really torn about Barriss returning to Ahsoka’s orbit in canon.
On the one hand, it could be so, so brilliant if written properly. It is abundantly clear that Barriss STILL occupies real estate in Ahsoka’s head even into her New Republic era days. And, in canon, Barriss was a straight up Ahsoka simp, so we know Barriss probably thinks about Ahsoka too.
A well-written Ahsoka would have to deal with a whole-ass wellspring of emotions and tension if it happened. And, a well-written Barriss would be more like her legends counterpart (with the canon trauma added in for flavor). She would have felt a deep remorse for everything that happened, and would have compensated by spending decades traveling the galaxy and becoming a master healer. Ahsoka and Barriss would probably run into one another after Ahsoka did something stupid that required her to seek healing. Ahsoka would feel a wave of anger upon seeing Barriss for the first time, but it would quell quickly after she saw the way that Barriss looked at her; one part utter penance, sorrow and grief, and one part total yearning. There would be a quiet moment where neither of them were able to speak. Barriss would break at some point, and Ahsoka would hug and forgive her because that’s just what Ahsoka does.
But, truthfully, and let’s face it… That’s not what we’d get at all. I’m not going to call Filoni a bad storyteller. I think a lot of his stories are great (and I’ve been on board with most of what he’s done with Ahsoka specifically, especially now that he’s no longer under Lucas’s thumb). I do think that he likes action, and not a lot of outright emotional drama specifically in dialogue (and it’s tougher to write those thing alone, especially if you’re a man trying to portray a woman’s emotion which is where a writer’s room would make sense even if he was the sole proprietor of the story itself). And, I think he often relies too heavily on subtext that would likely be completely missed by over half of fandom, so… anything he did like what I described wouldn’t hit, and would likely piss folks off more than anything else.
So, what would we get? Most likely another person for Ahsoka to fight with her lightsaber. There would be a sect within fandom that would eat this up, but I’m not one of those people… Mainly because I think that the Barriss character doesn’t deserve it. Barriss’s character was done hella dirty. Even in canon, Barriss doesn’t strike me as one to snap and blow up the Jedi temple, but that is what we got. She became a plot device (not wholly unlike Padme) for another character’s development and that sucks. Making Barriss cannon fodder would be utter bullshit, especially this far removed from the events of the Wrong Jedi arc. And, granted, he could possibly write Barriss a redemption arc, but it feels like, at least in the New Republic era, that that ship would have sailed.
At best, Barriss would end up being a Baylan Skoll -like character. A dark Jedi with questionable motives that may or may not be doing things for selfish reasons. At worst, Barriss would end up being a comically hokey bad villain that would get slaughtered on the second or third duel with Ahsoka…depending on how many times he wanted them to go at it. It would be completely out of character for both Barriss and Ahsoka, and it would be super lame for those of us that like both characters especially together as friends or otherwise.
Regardless, I’m probably glad he opted not to get into it.

project moon debacle thoughts
I’ve had a lot of time to let this stew in my brain so might as well spill my thoughts to get them out of my head. If you have no idea what’s going on (hi mutuals) or aren’t in the mood for reading this kinda thing, scroll past and have a good day i guess
Worst part about all this is probably all the misinformation. I see lots of points cycled as fact despite being dubious at best and “source: dude trust me” at worst (even by those with good intentions). I encourage everyone to do extensive research before committing to an opinion!
As for Veilmori, I doubt they’re coming back. Even if PM extends an offer, they might not even take it at this point. Regardless, I wish them the best!
As for the “firing”? All that’s certain is that the contract isn’t being renewed or something like that. Not quite as extreme as firing, but not illegal afaik and there’s still a safety net for Veilmori. I’m unfortunately not well aware of the contract’s terms. All I know is that it’s somewhat common for Korean contracts to have a clause for the kind of situation that sparked the termination. (EDIT: Apparently the “firing over the phone” was a legit thing - very illegal - and Veilmori was a regular, not an outsourced contract or anything. Doesn’t help that PM is being vague about her employment status atm.)
Also I find it funny that this is the second time a “person fired over feminist social media” thing happened in PM. First time was a lot more clear-cut in comparison (very radical feminist group) but still, deja vu.
Honestly my biggest concern is the treatment of employees if the firsthand statements are to be believed. Hopefully this situation creates some major changes for the better in PM.
I doubt that PM being late on putting out a statement is a sign of something bad. A bit messy, perhaps, but legal red tape can get finicky. The statement we got doesn’t really say much, and it’s still unclear why exactly the termination took place. Honestly, I would be fine with everything if they just outright said the reason. Again, not sure if this is legal red tape or not. Anything’s better than a vague “it wasn’t because of her views” because even that could still relate to the social media stuff (i.e. not because of having views, but because of expressing them on an account publically and clearly connected to the individual). (EDIT: Altho I’ve been told firing employees over social media stuff is a big no-no, I’m sure there’s exceptions and it, sadly, has happened before. This situation’s case against Veilmori is flimsy at best though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was illegal outside of loopholes.)
Last thing to note is that this whole situation is a messy cocktail of social problems and long-held frustrations. Nobody wins in this scenario. PM was between a rock and a hard place and are still chipping away at the rock they are being crushed by. I’m not even gonna pretend I’m an expert on the gender war and whatnot. It’s definitely helpful to not view the situation through an ethnocentric lens though. That’s not to say you can’t maintain opinions based on your own views on feminism, but be sure to not ignore the context either.
Hopefully, like last time, everything can be cleared up and PM can get back on its feet. Currently my view is “not angry, just disappointed” for now. For now, though, wait for new developments and take care of yourself. Your feelings, good or bad, are absolutely valid and whether you continue to support PM or not is entirely up to you! You’re not a bad person for choosing either option.

okay lmao you don't have to answer them all but im interested in your hot takes when you have time
7, 8, 9, 13, 16, 19, 21, 22, 24
😁 we need something to talk about in this micro fandom
Oh boy oh boy...
7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them? Honestly, a bit of a hard one for me to answer because I don't really have one. I mean, there are always going to be fandom interpretations I am not into, but even so I don't really let that influence how I feel about the actual characters. A lot of those fandom interpretations don't seem to be the overwhelming majority anymore either. I feel that if I was invested in the EEnE fandom back in 2013-2014 I would absolutely be tired of Kevin, but that isn't really the case anymore. As far as I can see lol.
8. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about? That all the Kanker sisters (excluding May) are irredeemable and will never break out of whatever cycle they are present to at home. I mean, I'm not asking for any neatly packaged happy ending when I say that, but idk, despite my issues with their lack of development and presentation on the show, I think they are really interesting. If you want to get deep, they are just kids after all, with a lot of room for change in their life going forward. I like to think that they ALL go onto better things. Better can be open to interpretation. I do not mean any kind of stereotypical college degree manicured lawn and job type stuff. Satisfaction can look like a multitude of things. A lot of people apply this to May, which is great! But does that have to mean pushing aside Marie and Lee in the process? I personally don't think that is very fair.
9. Worst part of canon? Harassment when it is girls towards boys = funny : / Also, this is more of a fandom thing, but there are so many youtube videos where ppl are titling them stuff like "Kanker sisters RAPE Eds" like wow so edgy and funny guys how about we keep this in 2009?
13. Worst blorbofication? Absolutely Edd. No argument. I don't think that this is an unpopular sentiment nowadays either. It has been discussed to earth and back at this point.
16. You can't understand why so many people like this thing: - That in high school/college Edd will make a complete 360 change in personality and become a complete bad-boy shadow the hedgehog recolor. Granted, I do think that Edd will grow to tone down his anxiety over following rules, BUT to completely change is out of the question. This is still Edd we're talking about. Rebelling for him would be something like jaywalking or wearing shoes inside someone's house he doesn't like. It nags me a bit when people completely ignore the defined quirks and personality of a character in favor of creating a whole new oc. You can of course be inspired by a character you like to create your own, but how about present them as that? - That Edd will start to drift away from Eddy and Ed as he grows older, or the other way around and Eddy and/or Ed drift away from Edd. I don't get how this head-canon keeps popping up. The WHOLE point of the show is their friendship and that they are blood brothers and meant for each other!!! This goes beyond their diverging interests and personalities!! The actual show proved this with the movie!! "But lots of people don't stay friends with the people they knew from childhood" umm and lots of people do? I am still closest with my middle school friends then any other people I've met in adulthood. My dad doesn't talk to anyone from university but still meets up with his childhood friends. And even so, I just don't understand the appeal. Their friendship kind of IS the whole show, and doing away with that ultimately defeats the purpose for me. I find it a lot more interesting to delve into aspects like how they would uphold these connections and friendships into adulthood, when work and responsibilities makes it a lot harder to get together regularly.
19. You're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like... Ngl I can't help feeling kind of shy about being super invested in a slapstick cartoon that came out nearly three decades ago. Even when I am talking to other cartoon/animation fans, I feel a bit silly about wanting to analyze their dynamics and traits when most people casually just remember the show as fun slapstick (of course it is but I also wanna get insane about it without being seen as MysteriousMrEnter or smth lmao).
21. Part of canon you think is overhyped? "What is under Double Dee's hat, guys?" "Why have they never confirmed what is under there?" "Any one else disappointed that they never showed Edd without his hat?" Umm idc lol
22. Your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores? - Probably the connection between Ed and Double Dee. I think it is really cute. I love how so many episodes kind of have them hanging out together. I don't think people acknowledge enough how their dynamic works. It is very Autism 2 Autism, like Edd gets to kind of info-dump about whatever to Ed, and even if Ed has no clue what he is talking about, he still enjoys the company and has fun in listening and partaking in whatever Edd is invested in. - I always really dig how Nazz is depicted kind of "cool" and "sporty". Idk it could have been very easy to make her just any kind of popular girl trope, but she kind of holds her own (even if she is super underdeveloped compared to the other characters). I think it makes her friendship with Kevin interesting. - On that note, I also really like Kevin and Rolf's dynamics in their friendship. I do actually see people discuss this a bunch, but I felt like I had to mention it. I really like how the typical American Apple Pie jock is besties with the foreigner with odd customs and both are kind of at an equal footing to each other. - Sarah is insanely strong, like almost on the same level as Ed. What is in that family's genes??
24. Topic that brings up the most rancid discourse? Shipping, probably. (When is it not shipping).

hi prim its raxz... checking in. whats going on in your life these days? i had my 17th birthday last week and im been starting to think seriously about what i want to do after i graduate... are you glad you moved away from home for uni? any general advice? i know what career i want which is the hard part i suppose. have something i drew while out for lunch today. cheers
Tumblr media
HIIIIIII RAXZ <333 love the cute little drawing i have attached my own. i would say i am happy i moved a little further away bc it has allowed me to become more independent and really branch out and meet new people but there is a lot to consider... i think costs of travel are super important to think abt, my trip is only abt 3-4 hours and costs me under £20 each time which is very useful as a girl who loves to go home at every opportunity LOL. taking a gap year after u graduate if u arent sure where u wanna go/what exact degree u wanna pursue/if uni is for you is a good option u shouldnt rule out, it can be super good to have the extra time to work or research and i honestly wish id taken one lowkey. if u do decide to go straight away do not drop out in the first semester unless u are 100% sure it isnt for you… bc i almost did when my mental health was super bad and now im sooo glad i didnt LMAO. going to uni is a really tough change but it does kick you into a new stage of development and i have loved my experience so far (Apart from the past term which has been the worst few months of my life but that has nothing to do with uni) :3 also i would say 100% pick something you really enjoy, doesnt have to be tailored to ur ideal career (but that helps if u have it figured out already), i did that instead of picking something more practical and i genuinely love all my classes and essays so so much!! Sorry long post but if u have anymore questions feel free to send moar asks or dm yaaaay
