Weekly Recap | February 19th-25th 2024
Tumblr media
I just realized this weekend that I'm gonna be away on a work conference the day of the premiere AND the next day 🙃 FML 🤦‍♀️
Complete
🔥 the kiln-blaze in my body by lamardeuse/ @lamardeuse (Post-S4 | 17K | Explicit): It's nearly six months before Buck tells anyone.
Leveling Up by lamardeuse/ @lamardeuse (Poker Date spec | 6K | Mature): When he rose to his feet, he found both Eddie and Maddie staring at him. “What?” “You, uh,” Eddie said, his eyes looking sort of glazed over. “You just did measurements by eye. And math.” “In your head,” Maddie said. “Huh,” Buck said. “Yeah, that was – weird.”
We blossom and ask no reason by lamardeuse / @lamardeuse (Canon Divergent, Florist!Eddie | 6K | Mature): “Hen!” Eddie turned at the shout to see a tall blond firefighter built like a brick wall jogging toward them. As he came closer, Eddie amended that to ridiculously pretty brick wall. Holy shit, now Eddie realized why those firefighter calendars were so popular.
🔥 The Definition of Love and All Things Ineffable by ElvenSorceress/ @elvensorceress (Post-S5 | 29K | Teen): Maddie asks him, like she’s been waiting to ask him, “Does Christopher call you ‘Uncle Buck’?” “No,” Buck answers. “Why?” “He called me Aunt Maddie. You’re far closer to him than I am. I thought if I’m his aunt, you’d have to be his uncle. Why wouldn’t you be Uncle Buck?” And Buck doesn’t really have an answer. It’s just. It’s wrong. He’s not Chris’ Uncle Buck. Maybe he should be? Maybe he’s supposed to be? He shrugs and uneasiness settles in his stomach. What more could he ever be to Chris but an uncle? ~ In which Buck processes his breakup, learns his place in his family, has a huge crisis of sexuality, and finds the truth about love beating in his own heart.
🔥 counteroffer by buckleyseddie/ @buckleyseddie (Season 6, Getting Together | 25K | Teen): Or in order for Buck to make it up to Eddie, Eddie suggests that Buck gives him one hundred kisses.
That's What Friends Are For by phdmama/ @phdmama (Friends With Benefits to Lovers | 4K | Explicit): Eddie shows up an hour later. He’s clearly gone home and showered, as his hair is damp. He’s wearing sweats and a t-shirt that Buck is pretty sure is his, and he smells of soap and bacon. No, wait, the bacon scent is coming from the bag of takeout containers he’s carrying in one hand. Buck’s eyes narrow at the sight of the object Eddie’s clutching in his other hand. “Tequila?” he asks, raising one eyebrow and then laughs when Eddie just makes a bitchy face back at him. “I mean, I’m in, obviously, but it’s like nine in the morning.”
Like Lovers Do by phdmama/ @phdmama (Accidental Sexting | 5K | Explicit): The thing is, Eddie knows Buck’s body as well as he knows his own, maybe even better. He’s seen Buck changing, averted his eyes from Buck striding naked into the showers in the locker room. Eddie has watched Buck push through a workout, he’s pressed his hands to Buck’s flesh as if he could stop the bleeding through sheer force of will. He’s woken up to Buck sleeping on his couch or stumbling around his kitchen, sweatpants hanging low on his hips as he pulls out the ingredients for pancakes. All this to say, he’s seen Buck’s body a million times, in a million different ways. But not like this. Never like this.
Flickers of Fate by steadfastsaturnsrings/ @steadfastsaturnsrings (S3E15: Eddie Begins, Soulmates AU | 1,6K | Teen): "Did-Did the man who helped me pull out the dead solider survive?" Eddie mumbled, "He-He....said he was right behind me but then disappeared...Is he okay?" "There was no other man, Diaz, You were the last one out of the helicopter. You pulled out that solider all by yourself" The official standing over him responded, looking at Eddie curiously.
Spinning Out by Daisies_and_Briars/ @cal-daisies-and-briars (S7 Spec | 2K | General): The sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. What goes up must always come down. And if Eddie Diaz is in a helicopter with his team, it must fall from the sky.
(put some music on) soft and slow by lecornergirl/ @clusterbuck (Canon Divergent | 6K | Teen): He walks up the stairs to the loft, and finds himself facing the backs of four office chairs. Over by the kitchen counter, Ravi gives a signal, and all four chairs turn around in impressive sync. “Saw you on TV last night,” Eddie says, still grinning. “Something you want to tell us?” OR: buck auditions for the voice. it goes about the way you'd expect.
🔥 Precious & Fragile Things by Daisies_and_Briars/ @cal-daisies-and-briars (Small Miracles AU, Angel Buck | 46K | Teen): Buck is the Fallen Angel of Petty Temptation, who has been tasked with tempting human Eddie Diaz to sin and enjoy life, but just a little. He thinks the job will be easy - get in, get out, go back to Peru to continue messing around with eternity. But when Buck arrives in Los Angeles, he finds Eddie is harder to tempt than expected, and more compelling than Buck had hoped.
Buttons and Patience by Tizniz/ @tizniz (PWP | 2K | Explicit): If anyone asks, Buck will blame Eddie’s buttons. Whenever Eddie wore those damn Henleys, he kept them reasonably buttoned up. But apparently not tonight. No, tonight those buttons were undone and exposing tantalizing skin, golden in the dimly lit bar lighting, and exposing Eddie’s collarbones. Buck wants to bite. Hard. Or lick. He’s not picky.
among the hungry and the patient by tinygiantsam/ @watchyourbuck (PWP | 3K | Mature): “Wanna make out?” Eddie blinked. Understandably so, by the way. He licked his lips, frowned, and took a step forward. “Excuse me?” Buck inhaled softly, somehow encouraging himself even more. “I said, do you wanna make out?” OR: Buck loses his patience with Eddie and asks him to make out.
Once Is A Mistake, Twice Is On Purpose by Tizniz/ @tizniz (Friends With Benefits | 5K | Teen): “Friends with benefits.” “Yeah.” “Just sex.” “Just sex.” Buck confirms, nodding.
Take It by Tizniz/ @tizniz (PWP | 2K | Mature): “Take it, Buck.” Eddie tells him when they break apart, squeezing Buck’s wrists. “Take it all.” “H-huh?” “This is about you and your pleasure.” Eddie gives his wrists another squeeze before he releases them, humming once more in approval when Buck keeps his hands there, fingers curling around the edge. And then Eddie grabs onto Buck’s hips, pulling him forward roughly against Eddie’s thigh. “Take what you want. What you need.”
WIP
if i need to rearrange my particles — i will for you. by dylaesthetics (Post-S6, Identity Porn | 4/16 | 15K | Teen): OR Buck joins a support app for first responders and matches with a firefighter who has PTSD and a kid who likes giraffes, apparently.
🔥 a foundation of trust and love we cannot see by lemonzestywrites/ @lemonzestywrites (FWB, BDSM, Sub Eddie, Dom Buck | 3/17 | 62K | Explicit): “It’s like I want to explore it and dive into it, but it’s not exactly like I’m seeing someone to try this all out with,” he explains, doing his best to keep down the annoyed huff that threatens to escape him at every other word. Buck nods to himself before steadily going silent. For a minute, Eddie thinks that this is the end of their conversation. “I can show you if you’d like.” Eddie nearly chokes on his beer.
🔥 because we'll all arrive in heaven alive by callmenewbie/ @puppyboybuckley (Post-S6, Disaster Fic | 6/9 | 41K | Explicit): During a search and rescue, Eddie disappears without a trace, leaving Buck to grapple with the sudden possibility of a life without him.
🔥 Things We're All Too Young to Know by Daisies_and_Briar / @cal-daisies-and-briars (Canon S1-S6, S7 Spec | 119/? | 357K | Mature): This is a love story. Even if it doesn’t always look like it. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it. A look back on Eddie and Buck's lives up to now, and what led them to each other, interpreted from the current 9-1-1 canon.
Re-Read
🔥Plus or Minus by ElvenSorceress/ @elvensorceress (S5 | 10K | General): “Why are you cleaning out the kitchen? Why is my stuff in boxes?” Eddie slows, then stops. “Figured you’d want it back.” It’s quieter. Pained. When he says it. “I haven’t decided anything. So unless you’re kicking me out—” “Buck. Come on.” He’s not angry or snapping. It’s still quiet, and somehow that hurts even more. He’s resigned and defeated, and Buck is a scooped out, gutted, hollow shell. “I know how this ends the same way you do. You want to be loved, you want to be married. You’re going to leave. Might as well…” His voice cracks before he can finish and get it under control. “Shouldn’t drag it out.” ~ Taylor is offered a job across the country and asks Buck to go with her. Buck has to figure out if he wants to start over or if he has a reason to stay right where he is.

Just a Phone Call Away (S.R.)
Spencer's knee injury means he's stuck at Quantico while the rest of the team go off to hunt an unsub. And he does not cope well with being away from you for long.
Word Count: 1,986
Warnings: clingy!s5!Spencer, gn!reader, fluff, the tiniest bit of angst, gun shot
Tumblr media
this was such a good request omg
“Reid, I’m sorry but you’re staying here,” Hotch ordered. Spencer’s face contorted into an annoyed expression.
“Hotch, come on. I’m fine,” he argued. “The doctor said if my knee didn’t hurt I could still fly.”
“I don’t care what your doctor said,” Hotch said sternly. “You are not getting on our jet with your knee in a brace. You’ll stay here and help Garcia. That’s an order.”
Spencer slumped in his chair, defeated.
“Spencer, I’ll be fine,” you urged him. You were about to get on the jet and leave Spencer in Virginia. Since the two of you had started dating you’d never been apart for long. Being on the same team made that possible. But now that Spencer was being forced to stay behind while you left to hunt an unsub, he realised just how much he dreaded being away from you.
“Yeah, but what if you get hurt?” he asked.
“We’ve been in the field together more times than I can count. Why the sudden concern for my safety?” you replied.
“Because I won’t be there this time. If you get hurt there’s nothing I can do about it.”
“Spence, I’m not a child. I can handle myself,” you smiled and pulled him into your embrace.
“I’ll miss you,” Spencer mumbled into your shoulder.
“You’re so soppy,” you teased him. “But I’ll miss you too. And remember, I’ll just be a phone call away.”
Spencer watched miserably as the jet took off and flew you far away from him. He didn’t realise how much of a co-dependent person he was until he met you. The thought of you potentially being in a life threatening situation while he sat uselessly with his knee in a brace made him feel physically sick.
The wheels of the jet had barely left the runway when your phone chimed. You picked it up and chuckled when you saw the message.
I love you. Please be safe. ❤️
You quickly typed a reply.
Only if you promise to rest your knee. I love you too <3
Emily noticed you smiling down at your phone and asked, “Is that Spencer?”
“Yeah,” you responded. “We’ve only been apart for 30 minutes and he’s already worried about me.”
“He’s clingy, huh?” Emily said.
“Incredibly.”
The flight wasn’t long and soon you, JJ and Rossi were settled in a cramped conference room in the local police department. As usual, Hotch had called Garcia on the plane to give the briefing. This time Spencer sat beside her on the small laptop screen. Hotch had told you all what to do when you landed and instructed Spencer to work on victimology back at Quantico.
When you saw his name pop up on your phone you assumed he’d found some connections between the victims. You put your phone on speaker so your teammates could hear before answering.
“Hey, you got something?”
There was a pause before Spencer spoke.
“Uh, no, not yet. I was just calling to make sure you landed safely.”
“It was a very smooth landing, Reid. No complaints,” Rossi said and JJ laughed. Your face blushed red and you grabbed your phone to turn it off speaker.
“Sorry, I didn’t realise I was on speaker,” Spencer’s voice crackled over the line.
“It’s ok. It’s just me now,” you said, walking out of the conference room. “Did you really just call to see if I got here ok.”
“Of course I did,” Spencer said as if it was obvious. “What if the jet crashed? I just wanted to make sure you were safe.”
You couldn’t help but chuckle. Spencer was one of the most rational people you knew. But when it came to you he was so illogical it was laughable.
“Well, Spence, I’m fine,” you told him. “Listen, I have to go. Call me if you find anything.”
Spencer said goodbye and you hung up.
Hotch had sent you and Rossi to interview one of the victims families later that day. You were in the middle of listening to the mother of the victim talk about her son when your phone started ringing. When you saw that it was Spencer you excused yourself and stepped out into the kitchen.
“Yeah,” you said quickly, not wanting to miss much of the interview.
“Hey, can you talk?” Spencer asked plainly.
“Uh, not really,” you said confused. He knew you were working. Why would he think you could talk? “Why? Do you need something?”
“No, I just wanted to hear your voice,” he said softly. “But it’s ok if you’re doing something.”
“Sorry, Spence, we’re interviewing a victim’s family,” you apologised. “But I’ll call you later. I promise.”
“Ok, I love you.”
“I love you too. Bye,” you said before hanging up and going back to the interview.
You got to the hotel the team were staying at pretty late that night. You had just showered and were about to call Spencer as you promised when your phone rang. Of course it was Spencer.
“Hey, I was just about to call you,” you said when you answered.
“Oh, good, you’re ok. It was getting late and I was starting to get worried,” Spencer quickly rambled.
“Oh my God, please stop worrying about me,” you said a little sharply. “I just lost track of time at the police department. You don’t have to call me every two seconds.”
“I’m sorry,” Spencer said with a small voice. “I can’t help it.”
You sighed to calm yourself down. It was cute that he cared so much about you. But the constant calls were starting to wear you down a little.
“I know. And I’m sorry too. I should be more appreciative that you worry about me.”
You were both silent for a moment. You regretted snapping at Spencer. You knew how clingy he was after all. A few seconds passed before Spencer broke the silence.
“Can we switch to facetime?” he asked. You raised an eyebrow.
“Sure, but why?”
“I want to see you,” he explained.
You hastily switched the call to facetime and his face appeared on your screen. It was dark aside from the dim glow of the lamp beside his bed. His hair was pulled back and still slightly damp.
“You happy now?” you said, smiling at him.
“Very,” he replied.
Your mouth opened into a wide yawn and Spencer’s face dropped.
“You’re tired,” he observed. “Do you want me to go?”
“No, it’s ok. It’s just been a long day,” you replied. But as you spoke you yawned again. “Ok, maybe I am tired,” you admitted.
“Can we stay on facetime when we fall asleep?” Spencer asked shyly. You let out a short giggle at his suggestion.
“You really can’t live without me, can you?” you asked with a smirk.
“Nope,” Spencer said. “And I’m not ashamed of it.”
You set your phone on the pillow beside you and drifted off to sleep. Spencer stared at you long after you’d lost consciousness, just listening to your breathing and imagining you were really there beside him.
The next day Spencer didn’t stop incessantly calling you. He called you in the morning. He called you when you were delivering the profile. He called you when you were driving to a suspect’s house. You tried your best to see the good in it but if he unnecessarily called you one more time you were afraid you were going to lose it.
You and Emily had just arrived at a suspect’s house. This man had been spotted near two of the crime scenes just minutes before the murders. You were betting he was your unsub. You knocked on his door but no one answered. That’s when Emily noticed a shed around the back of the house. You followed her towards it but stopped abruptly when your phone started vibrating in your pocket. You swore under your breath when you saw Spencer’s name on the screen. You told Emily you’d only be a minute and answered your phone.
“Spencer, I love you but please for the love of God do not call me for the next few hours,” you snapped.
“Actually, I was calling to tell you you’re definitely at the unsub’s house. His prints match the ones found at the crime scene,” Spencer said bluntly. You could hear the offence in his voice.
“Oh,” you said, cursing yourself for letting your anger get the better of you. “Well, thanks. Sor-,”
You were interrupted by a gun shot that made you jump out of your skin. You quickly blurted out, “Spence, I have to go,” before hanging up.
It turned out the gun shot came from Emily’s gun. The unsub had snuck up on you while you were on the phone and was about to shoot you before Emily pulled her gun on him. Now, you were on your way back home. The case was closed. You’d tried calling Spencer multiple times before getting on the plane but he wasn’t picking up. You figured he was angry at you for losing your temper.
When you finally touched down at Quantico the first thing you did was go looking for Spencer. You didn’t find him at his desk so you headed towards Garcia’s office.
“Hey, have you seen Spencer?” you asked when you entered. “I’ve been calling him but he hasn’t been picking up.”
“Oh, you didn’t hear?” she said, surprised.
“Hear, what?”
“Well, when Spencer heard that gun shot over the phone he didn’t know if you were ok,” Garcia began. “He started panicking and the idiot got up without his crutches and fell over.”
Your jaw dropped. “Is he ok?” you questioned.
“I took him to the hospital and the doctor said he should be on bed rest for the next few weeks, but he’s fine,” Garcia explained. “He probably hasn’t called you because he’s sleeping.”
“Ok, thanks Penelope,” you said, relieved to know Spencer was ok.
You got to Spencer’s apartment as fast as you could and used the key he gave you to let yourself in. You headed straight towards his bedroom and opened the door just a crack. When you peeked inside you saw Spencer lying sprawled out on top of the covers, his knee covered in a new bandage and brace. The steady rise and fall of his chest told you that he was in fact sleeping as Garcia had said.
You quietly made your way to the bed and sat down beside him. Leaning down, you placed a gentle kiss on his forehead and whispered his name.
He sniffed and stirred from his slumber. When he registered who was sitting next to him his eyes immediately lit up.
“You’re back,” he croaked, sleep still evident in his voice. “Are you ok? I heard a gun shot.”
“I’m fine,” you told him. “Never better.”
Spencer grabbed your hand so tightly he cut off your blood flow.
“I was right when I said you can’t live without me,” you laughed.
“Being away from you almost killed me,” he replied.
“Well, you got that right. You got put on bed rest.”
Spencer suddenly buried his head in your chest. “I missed you so much,” he murmured into your shirt.
“I missed you too, baby,” you said, kissing his forehead once more.
Spencer’s arms wrapped so tightly around you, you could barely move. He practically glued himself to you. You had planned on taking a shower and changing out of your work clothes but he had you in such a chokehold that all you could do was lie down beside him as he wrapped himself around you even more. He breathed in your scent and immediately started to melt into you, as though all the tension in his body vanished in your presence.
“Please, don’t ever leave me again,” he said.
“I won’t. I promise,” you whispered, stroking his hair as he fell asleep, happy to be in your arms again.

Jonathan’s line about Steve in vol 2 was so…. I don’t know. I mean yeah it straight up confirms that Nancy and Jonathan make fun of Steve behind his back, and like I get that I have never been in Nancy’s situation so obviously it seems more mortifying to me, but I would have felt so guilty in her place. I can’t imagine not shutting Jonathan up if he started shit talking about Steve. Like Steve would have been straight up unmentionable if I was Nancy. Idk.
I get that Duffers don’t treat their characters emotional lives seriously, but like. That’s why Robin being kind to Nancy in s5 despite Nancy’s uh.. well frankly appalling attitude towards Robin, makes zero sense to me. I really wanted Nancy to struggle being in Steve’s group. Not in the “she deserves it bhahaha” way, but like… Steve dumped his friends for her (which was good for him), and her expecting to get the same treatment and meeting Robin instead? Who actively dislikes her and for a good reason? Who is smart and cool and kind? That’s way more interesting than people kissing Nancy’s ass the whole season, while she is actively putting Max’s life in danger. Like, yeah in high school she is the chief editor of the newspaper, and at home she is the eldest sister, and with Jon she makes fun of Steve, and now none of these people are here, but Steve is here and so is his bestie. And Steve is as kind as always, but Robin dislikes her, and it is not just prejudice
Nancy Wheeler you wild girl! She has no guilt lmao She's like yeah steve was dumb and annoying and didn't enable my investigation, and jon goes yep, what an idiot. All while Steve is just like. bumpin around making friends with little nerds haha. Minding his own business blaming himself for the end of their relationship. You're right, it's kinda bonkers because even if we take the stance that Nancy didn't cheat (which I believe she did) like. she still had him as her second choice and as soon as he pushed back a bit and didn't give her the kind of support she wasn't telling him she needed (until talking about exposing the lab in the library where anyone could hear) she jumped ship and ran to Jonathan. Why would she want to talk about Steve? Why wouldn't she want to try to forget he ever existed as anything other than Mike's friend Dustin's older friend? Is that not weird for her?
(i think you might mean s4? but i can work with s5 too haha) It's so much more compelling to me to have Nancy and Robin at odds with each other because Robin is like a little guard chihuahua holding a grudge for Steve. She holds grudges so well let her do it more!! like jesus give him someone in his corner! And also for herself! She got so nervous and tried to explain and defend herself, and Nancy only really started to listen once they got into the hospital. Nancy has a not great plan that puts one of the kids in danger, one of the kids Steve is close to. (Max wrote him a letter!!) I think Robin would really see Steve's people as her people, even if she wasn't personally close to them she'd still feel comfortable around the younger teens because Steve is? Let robin be critical of this plan. Let her call it out or something. Give Nancy someone to push against, it's no fun if there's no resistance! I want Nancy to be the one wanting friendship with Robin, and Robin not being receptive to it. Nancy not having a relationship handed to her would be refreshing and I want to see how she'd try to win Robin's friendship.
Let Robin not want to work with Nancy because she's heard the rumours about how her and Steve ended, even though he only mentioned that he wasn't a good boyfriend ans wasn't what she needed so it didn't work out. Robin saw that one week Steve and Nancy had a fight, and a day later she was ditching with Jonathan? yeah something is fishy there to even the most socially oblivious person. Let Robin know Steve well enough that she knew he at least thought he was telling the truth but that there must have been more. Let Robin decide she was going to do the most cliche best friend thing and not be very nice to the ex that broke her bestie's heart.
ooooh anon what you're saying is so interesting because, yeah. Steve dumped Tommy and Carol for Nancy, and that was good for him, and then Nancy got with Jonathan who doesn't really have any friends in Hawkins. So she's always been her boyfriend's main person of similar age they're close to. But now Steve's got Robin. Who is funny and kind and weird and loyal and smart and sarcastic. Who is obsessed with Steve and who Steve is also obsessed with. And that, from a s5 stancy pov, is so interesting because now Nancy is now competing (in her mind) for her boyfriend/potential bf's attention with his best friend. Like Jonathan was focused on his family, obviously (and this caused strain for them too) but it's not the same socially as a best friend taking priority. Steve would still hold those relationships, because they're good for him and good for the others, and there's zero reason for him to abandon them this time.
I think Nancy would hate it. Like Steve would obviously give her tonnes of attention, but with him having actual close friendships not just with Robin but Dustin and Max (at least) too, she'd still feel like she was bartering for time with him. That is suuuuch a fun potential dynamic between nancy and steve and also nancy and steve's friends.

Tumblr media
You couldn’t believe it. You were about to enter the place where you used to work for five years. You used to work at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. You worked as one of the wranglers, but that all ended. It all ended because you got pregnant. And the one that got you pregnant was Kayce, your boss's son. You two had a secret relationship while you were working on the ranch. The moment that you found out that you were pregnant. You immediately packed up your bags and left the ranch without telling anyone. You didn’t want the others to find out that you were pregnant, and most definitely. Who got you pregnant, because if they did. You could be in deep trouble. So that’s why you left, but little did you know. When Kayce found out the next day. He was upset. He didn’t know what to do without you. He hoped you would come back again someday and explain why you left without telling anyone. And that someday is today.
“Here goes nothin’, you sighed to yourself. You took your car out of park and drove through the entrance of the ranch. The moment you started driving through the entrance of the ranch. You felt your heart start to beat very fast, and you even felt your palms start becoming sweaty against the steering wheel. You had so many things running through your head right now. You weren’t sure how Kayce and even John were going to react to you being back at the ranch and even having a baby on your hip.
When you finally reached the house. You parked your car and got out. You grabbed your daughter from the backseat and took her out of her car seat, and placed her on your hip. While you were walking up to the house. You noticed Kayce's truck and even John’s truck were parked outside. You were now even more nervous than you were when you first arrived because you know that the moment you knock on the front door. You’re going to face Kayce or either John, or either of the both of them.
You walked up the steps and to the front door of the house. You raised your free hand to knock on the door. You were waiting there anxiously for the door to be opened. The moment the door opened. You were face to face with Kayce.
“Oh my goodness,” Kayce said. He was surprised that he could barely get any words out of his mouth. He couldn’t even gather the fact that you were standing right in front of him. For the majority of the past year and a half. He thought that you left Montana and never looked back, but here you are. Back at the ranch where you used to work, and the same place that you called home. Another thing he couldn’t even gather was the fact that you had a baby on your hip.
“Uh- can we talk? please,” you asked him nervously.
“Yeah,” Kayce nodded. He moved out of the way, so then you could enter the house. Once you entered the house, he closed the door behind you. Then he walked towards the living room and you followed right behind him.
“Please sit,” He motioned towards one of the couches when you walked into the living room. You took a seat on the couch, and you set your daughter down on the ground right in front of your feet. Kayce sat down on the opposite side of the couch that you were sitting on.
“Uh- I don’t even know how to explain everything,” you said, as you started to play with the promise ring that was on your finger. The promise ring was a gift from Kayce. You received the ring as a fourth-anniversary present. You still can’t believe that you still wear the ring on your finger. After everything that happened, you should have taken it off, but you just couldn’t.
“Well, you could explain why you decided to pack up your things and left without telling anyone. Or you could explain why you’re back here with a baby,” Kayce stated. His voice sounded cold and angry.
“Well, the whole reason why I left was because I got pregnant…a-and I-I’m back here with a baby because I thought it was a good idea to finally come back, so then you could finally meet our daughter,” you said, as you turned your head towards Kayce’s direction. All of a sudden you noticed that he had a soft look in his eyes. You were now hoping his voice wasn’t cold and angry anymore after what you just said to him.
“Wait. Our daughter?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. You had tears starting to form in your eyes. After you said that, you were regretting leaving in the first place. Kayce shouldn't be meeting his daughter in this type of way. He should have met her the moment she was born. The moment when she was placed on your chest.
“I’m gonna need a minute,” Kayce said, as he got up from the couch and walked away toward the kitchen.
“Okay,” you nodded. “I’ll be here when you get back.” You picked up your daughter from the floor and placed her back on your hip.
When Kayce walked into the kitchen. He walked in and immediately made eye contact with his father since he was in there. He was pouring coffee into his coffee cup. Kayce was now wondering if his father heard the whole conversation that went down in the living room not too long ago.
“Son, do you want to explain to me who you were just talking to, in the living room?” Also explain to me while you were talking to that someone, I heard them say, ‘our daughter?’
“Fuck,” Kayce whispered under his breath. He was mad that his father heard the whole conversation that he had with you. He was now going to have to explain to his father the truth and how he technically just found out today that he has been a father for at least a year now. “Uh- I was talking to Y/N.”
“Y/N? As in, Y/N Y/L/N? The one that used to work on the ranch?” John questioned his son.
“Yes,” Kayce nodded. “And the whole reason why you heard her say to me, ‘our daughter’ is because of the looks of it. I got her pregnant.”
When those words came out of Kayce’s mouth. John didn’t even know what to say, or how to react. The only thing he knew was that he was technically a grandfather now, and his son was a father. There was just quietness in the air. Kayce didn’t like that. He wanted his father to say something to him about what he just said.
“Dad? Aren’t you going to say anything about what I just told you?” Kayce asked him.
John put his coffee cup on the kitchen counter and faced toward where Kayce was standing. “Son, what do you want me to say?”
“Uh- I don’t know. Anything, to be honest,” He shrugged his shoulders.
“Well, I guess I could say that I’m pretty okay with the situation. But…it just upsets me that you were going behind my back and started to date her, and even gotten her pregnant. And you know how I feel when you or either your siblings go behind my back and do something,” John explained.
“How do you think I feel?” Kayce said. “I’m upset because obviously when she found out she was pregnant she just decided to leave and not say anything to anyone or anything, or even explain how she and I were about to become parents for the first time.”
All John could do was put his head down, and look down at his feet. He couldn’t bear the fact that his son was angry and even upset with the whole situation.
“What should I do, dad? Should I tell her to leave and never look back? Or should I start over with her?”
John looked up from the ground and looked at Kayce. “What you should do is start over with her. Get to know the whole story about why she left without an explanation, and get to know your daughter. Especially find out what her name is, and exactly how old she is at the moment.”
“Okay,” Kayce nodded. He walked out of the kitchen and back to the living room where you were at. When he walked in, he saw you were still sitting in the same spot as you were when he first left to go to the kitchen, and he even saw that you had your daughter on your hip again.
“So? Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. Everything is okay. My dad was in the kitchen when I walked in, so I explained to him about who I was talking to, and how by the looks of it. I got you pregnant,” Kayce explained.
“Omg. What did he say? Is he mad about this? Because if he is, I can leave and never come back, and we can all forget that this ever happened,” you said, as you stood up and were about to walk to the front door and head out with your daughter.
“No he isn’t mad about this,” Kayce reassured you.
“Oh,” you said as you sat back down on the couch. You put your daughter on the floor right in front of you, just like you did earlier when you arrived at the house. “Well, what did he say about this then?”
“Well, he told me that he’s okay with this situation. But on the other hand, he’s upset that I was going behind his back, and started to date you, and then, of course, ended up getting you pregnant,” Kayce explained. “Also speaking of me getting you pregnant, why did you leave after you found out?
You couldn’t even look Kayce in the eyes. You could tell by the tone of Kayce’s voice. He wasn’t happy at all. You took a deep breath and said, “I left after I found out because I didn't want anyone to find out about it, because if anyone did. Then I would start getting questions about who got me pregnant. Plus, I didn’t want anyone to find out the truth about you and me.”
“Why didn’t you tell me? We could have figured something out.”
“I don’t know,” you shook your head. “I panicked and I thought the right option was to leave and not say anything. But now, I regret doing that. I regret not telling you about how we were going to become parents for the first time, and I regret not having your dad know the truth about us. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for not telling you. I messed up badly.”
Kayce scooted closer to where you were sitting on the couch, and put his two hands on your cheeks to stop you from rambling. “Hey. Look at me.” You looked at him, and when you did. Kayce noticed that you started to form tears in your eyes. It broke his heart. He always hated seeing you upset in any type of way. “It’s okay. I promise.”
“So, you’re not mad or anything like that?” you asked.
“No,” He shook his head. He took his hands off your cheeks. “Just a little upset, but I’ll get over it real soon. I promise. Also, I have two questions to ask you.”
“Okay,” you nodded. “What are the two questions?”
“The first question is can we start over? And Is it possible that I can get to know who my daughter is?” Kayce asked.
“Of course,” you smiled. You picked up your daughter from the floor. She was just chewing on her fingers when you picked her up. “Kayce, this is our daughter Sarah Elizabeth Dutton.”
“She’s so cute,” Kayce said.
“She is, she isn’t,” you smiled down at her.
“Also how old is she?”
You looked up and looked at Kayce, “She’s one year old.”
“Wow,” Kayce said. “Next thing you know she’ll be two years old.”
“Yeah,” you nodded. “That just shows that time flies.”
“Yes. It does,” Kayce agreed.
“I have a question for you now,” you said.
“What is it?”
“Do you want to hold our daughter?” you asked him.
“Yes,” Kayce nodded.
You handed Sarah to Kayce. Kayce took her from your arms, and set her on his lap. Sarah didn’t get fussy about how she wasn’t sitting in her mom’s lap anymore. But of course, that was a good thing though. While he was holding her, Sarah kept on babbling. You and Kayce didn’t even know what she was babbling about, but you two thought it was the cutest thing ever. Since she was babbling, and talking. You had the perfect question to ask her. “Sarah. Can you say ‘Dada’?”
Surprisingly not too long after you asked her that question. You and Kayce both heard her say, ‘Dada.’ The moment Kayce heard that word. He started crying. He wasn’t crying because he was upset or anything like that. He was crying because he was happy. He was happy that his daughter said the word ‘Dada.’
“Omg! She actually said it, Kayce. She said ‘Dada’, you said happily.
“Yes. She did.”
--- --- ---
It’s been about two hours since you came over to the Dutton Ranch and explained everything to Kayce. After you were able to get Sarah to say ‘Dada.’ You and Kayce were able to catch up on everything, Plus, on top of that, John was able to get to meet his granddaughter. He was happy about that.
“One last question. I promise,” Kayce said to you. He was pretty nervous to ask you the question that he's about to ask you, but since you and he have both officially agreed to get back together and raise Sarah with each other and be a family. In the end, the question is going to make perfect sense.
“What is it?”
“Well, I know that we technically haven’t been back together for not even an hour yet, but I was wondering, do you move in and live with me?” Kayce asked you.
“Yes. Of course,” you nodded. “But what about all of my stuff? Everything I have is back at my apartment.”
“Let’s worry about that later. Okay?”
“Okay,” you nodded.
“For now, let’s just focus on us, and on our daughter who is sleeping peacefully in my arms right now,” Kayce leaned down and kissed the top of Sarah’s forehead. Kayce couldn’t get over how adorable Sarah was. He loved how much she looks like him. He was hoping that his mom was smiling down at him and being proud that he’s a father.
“I think she’s going to become your little sidekick when she gets older,” you commented.
“I think so,” Kayce agreed.
The sight in front of you was making your heart melt. You couldn’t get over how happy Kayce looked holding Sarah. The look in his eyes was just filled with happiness and love. You were glad that you decided to come back to the ranch. You still weren’t happy with yourself about the decision you made when you did find out you were pregnant with Sarah, but that’s all in the past now. The only thing that matters now, was that you and Kayce were back together and that you and he were going to be able to raise your daughter as a couple.

kree interruption | daisy johnson
(oneshot)
tw: uncannon-ish s5, lovie dovie daisy, fluff, minor angst, fitzsimmons fitzsimmonsing
Tumblr media
(gif not mine, credits to owner)
“i couldn’t stop thinking about us, and how we might not get home. h-how we might never get the chance to get married, grow old…” daisy trailed off, unsure how to continue.
“you’ve thought about marrying me?” you asked in disbelief as you handed daisy the flashlight so she could see better.
she was hacking the control panel of the elevator so you could get down to the floor with the others.
fitz and simmons were on lookout for any of kasius’ men following you. daisy winced, her head starting to spin again.
“hey, you okay?” you grabbed her hands, trying to help steady her against the wall. “yep. fine.” she closed her eyes, trying to take a deep breath.
“so, back to my marriage proposal.” she smiled weakly.
you hummed, leaning in to press a kiss to her forehead.
“marry me?” she asked, opening her eyes.
“there they are!” the four of you turned to look at the kree soldiers who were headed towards the elevator.
you frantically pressed the button to close the doors, selecting the floor the others were on.
the elevator started descending, all of you sighing in relief.
“stupid kree. messing up my marriage proposal.” daisy huffed, extending an arm to wrap around your waist.
you laughed softly. “screw them. yes, i’ll marry you.”
you both smiled at each other, you tilted your head up and nuzzled your nose along her jaw. “i love you. so much”
“i love you so much more.” she brought her lips to yours, softly kissing you, holding your face in her hands so gently.
“guys, sorry to interrupt, but uh. we’re here.” jemma smiled, a knowing look in her eyes.
just like you and daisy had always believed that fitzsimmons belonged together, they believed in you and daisy. now, you were engaged at the same time.
“come on, future wife.” she grabbed your hand, holding it tightly as you exited the elevator.
“since this is the future, does that make us already married?” you asked, heading down the hall to where daisy had last seen the team.
“i guess it does. ready to see everyone, wife?”
“yeah, i can definitely get used to that.”

I was thinking about Sam running off to Flagstaff in relation to Dean going to Sonny's. Must have been about the same time if Sam was 12.
So is it that no one was super concerned when Dean 'was missing' for months so Sam thought his 2 week adventure was no big deal.
Or was Dean left at Sonny's as punishment for losing Sam.
Neither paint a great picture of John, but the first does make Sam's attitude to running away more understandable (plus John's constant disappearing act wouldn't help). Either way, I think s5 sam is still immature enough to think 'you left, dad left, whys it only a problem when I do'.
So, 5.16 doesn't mention Sam's age when he ran away, but I estimated around 12 because of 11.08 "Just My Imagination", and how it centers around Sam considering running away for the first time as a kid. Though it isn't to get away from their dad—it's neglect that drives him, and then he ends up leaving to find and join John and Dean on their hunt without John's permission to try and prove himself. I actually went back to double check though, and 11.08 takes place in 1992, so Sam was actually around 10. This doesn't give us a very solid timeline—just enough to say Flagstaff probably happened after Sam turned 10. "Bad Boys" takes place in 1995, when Sam is around 12. Sam's dietary preference for "Funions and Mr. Pibb" probably still suggests he was young—from 10-13 when Flagstaff happened—because by 1997 flashbacks in 4.13 "After School Special", Sam has settled on college as his method of escape, and I don't think his hopes for full ride scholarships mesh with plots to run away and have to fend for himself. In fact, I am fairly certain Sam spent all of high school with his nose stuck in a book at every possible moment. Having to worry about his own food or lodging or the lack of credentials being a runaway wouldn't be logical in achieving his goal.
It's very possible Flagstaff happens after "Bad Boys", but it's also possible it happens before. That said, the story John told Sam about Flagstaff was that Dean got lost on a hunt, and John had to go and find him. He dropped Sam off at Bobby's for a couple of months, making Sam think John was actually searching for Dean that whole time:
Yeah. Uh, y-you disappeared. Dad came back. You were gone. He shipped me off to Bobby's for a couple months and went and… found you. You were lost on a hunt or something.
Did "Lost on a hunt" mean John told Sam that Dean got captured by a monster, or that Dean left Sam alone to hunt on his own...? Hard to say.
That said, we also get this nugget from Dean in 14.12 "Prophet and Loss":
I know things got dicey… you know, with dad… the way he was. And I just… I didn’t always look out for you the way that I should’ve. I mean, I had my own stuff, you know. In order to keep the peace, it probably looked like I took his side quite a bit. Sometimes when I was… when I was away, you know it wasn’t ‘cause I just ran out, right? Dad would… he would send me away when I really pissed him off. I think you knew that.
I have no beef with Sam running away, as I have said a couple of times now. I don't care if Sam runs away. In the case of Flagstaff—kids, especially, run away. I just think that from Dean's side, what hurts the most is that Sam never thinks back and reexamines running away to Flagstaff as an adult, and thinks about how dangerous it was, and how terrified Dean must have been, and how angry their father must have been with Dean.

Fixing Problems 💋 | Rhett Abbott Imagine | Outer Range x Yellowstone crossover
Takes place sometime after the events of S1 of Outer Range and S4 of Yellowstone around 2023 hypothetically
Tumblr media
Link to my Masterlists (might make a Rhett Abbott one in the future)
Characters & Pairings: Rhett Abbott x Lana Dutton!OC (romance), The Abbott family & the Dutton family, Maria Olivares (past romance w/ Rhett ), Lloyd Pierce (platonic), Rip Wheeler (platonic).
Content warnings: profanity, light angst, fluff, mentions of violence and death. Implied smut at the end | female OC (she/her) | wc: 4k
Premise: Rhett Abbott was a man of an unwanted reputation in his hometown of Wabang, Wyoming. None were surprised by the fact he found himself back in the town he longed to escape following his breakup with Maria. But then a few months later Rhett was no where to be seen after his family took a trip out of town and returned without him. Now he’s back for a short time to settle some things and low an behold, Maria is back too. When she tries to mend things with the cowboys she’s in for quite the shock that Rhett Abbott is no longer a man on the market—and what makes it more shocking is his woman hails from the family of the country’s largest land owners.
Note: So fair warning, I have not seen the entirety of Outer Range but for some reason have been reading a lot of Rhett fanfiction and have a gist of it. But I am a big fan of Yellowstone and S5 drops tomorrow. I had this idea but was like ‘maybe I should wait,’ but I don’t want the thought to slip now that it’s fresh in my mind. So for this Lana was born on New Year’s Day of 1997 since Evelyn Dutton died in March of 1997 so she never knew her mother unlike her four siblings. Also although S5 isn’t fully out, we know from the trailer that John wins governor of Montana.
———————————————
“Hi, Rhett.” God that was not the voice he wanted to hear on this sunny Saturday morning in Wabang. Rhett Abbott had awoken with a smile on his face and giddiness in his chest at what the day had in store for him….but seeing Maria again for the first time in two years was not what he expected.
Or wanted at all for that matter.
Closing his eyes as if to pray it wasn’t Maria behind him, Rhett checked his phone for the time and a message he was expecting before preparing himself to face the woman who left his heart in pieces. When he finally does face her, Rhett remains stoic, “Hello, Maria.” There is nothing warm in his greeting, which is evident in the frown that takes over her expression. But what the fuck would she expect? He left his home for her and returned no less than a few months later on his parents porch with a bag and tear stained eyes.
If Maria thought he’d be happy to see her after all this then she was off her rocker.
Rhett had moved on and was in a place he never thought he would be. Happy. Content. Looking forward to the future.
He was not gonna let her take that away from him.
Or even let her think she could have a chance.
“How are you?” She offered a small smile, hoping to lighten the mood. But Rhett wasn’t having it.
“Fine.” She waited for him to return the question, but when he didn’t Maria shuffled on her feet, adjusting the purse on her shoulder, “I heard you were back in town. Was asking ‘round and they said you’ve been gone.”
“Yeah,” he nods, checking his phone again. “I’ve been in Montana the past year and half.” That surprises the woman, eyes widening slightly. She didn’t know what—or better yet who—was in Montana, but there was an obvious difference in how Rhett carried himself. It was completely different from how he was when they reconnected and surely when he returned back.
“Oh,” was all she could say. “That’s amazing uh—I guess.”
“It was,” his voice takes another edge, almost in a longing way. Maria glanced him over, feeling a tightness to her chest—almost like she realized there was something—someone—hidden between his words.
“Well, I was hoping to get a chance to run into you.”
“Well you did,” Rhett’s tone indicated he wasn’t happy with the fact. He leaned against the brick of the building he was standing in front of. It had been a busy day for Rhett to do some last minute things before he was set to head out the next morning. He found himself outside of the pharmacy having just got off the phone with Cecilia when Maria stopped him as he was exiting the store. “So what’d you want?”
Maria bit her lip, remembering how his eyes would flicker to her mouth whenever she did, but Rhett never faltered his gaze. It threw her off for a moment but she quickly recovered, “I wanted to talk to you…about us.”
Rhett made a face, looking away briefly, “Us? What’s there to talk ‘bout, Maria. That ship sailed long ago.” His tone was cold, but again Rhett did not care. There was nothing that Maria could do or say to change his mind. She could pout all she wanted, give him puppy eyes or pour her heart out to him, but it would be to no avail.
Rhett Abbott had found his solace. And it was not with her.
Moving to walk in the opposite direction toward his truck, Maria stopped him before he could even take a full step, “Wait, Rhett! Please,” she put a hand on his arm, but frowned again when he shook her off. “Look, I’m sorry for what happened between us. I-I know I said some things, and I regret it—I would take it all back if I can.” The expression on her face was one of pleading, hoping to get through to him. “Maybe we can work something out. Fix things—.”
“No,” the word flew from his lips, ignoring the way Maria faltered back, surprise coating her expression. “That’s not gonna happen, Maria.”
“But, Rhett—.” The sound of his phone ringing cut her off. Rhett removed the device, turning away as the smile overtook when he read the name, “Hey.”
“You sound relieved. More so than when you get out of pushing cattle. What did I save you from this time, Rhett Abbott.”
“Oh, just you know,” he glances over his shoulder, noticing how Maria has her arms crossed over her chest and disappointed their conversation was cut short. “Runnin’ into some old friends.” He turned away before he could see her reaction to the offense of calling her an ‘old friend.’ His voice goes lower to prevent Maria from hearing, “and this one was the last person I wanted to see on what was supposed to be a good fucking day.”
“I see,” he could just picture her smirk on the other end of the line that paired with the chuckle she let out. “Well, lucky for you, cowboy, I just passed the town's limits. Send me your location. I’ll be there very soon. And just for the hell of it, keep her there—I’d like to say hello.” Rhett didn’t know how she managed to put it together Maria was who he was referring to, but then again surprising him was her second nature.
“You sure about that?”
“Oh, darlin’, you should know by now that I never second guess a decision once it’s been made.”
They said their goodbyes with Rhett sending off his location before locking the device and putting it back in his pocket. When he faced Maria again, she was displeased and tried to not show it but failed. “Who was that?”
Rhett kept his face neutral, “someone.” If there was anything about the woman on the other end of the phone, it was that she loved her entrances. And there was no way Rhett was going to deprive her of one—especially when it was her first one to Wabang. Part of him looked forward to the look on Maria’s face for when that moment came. Not to mention those around them. Ever since he returned to Wabang there have been whispers about him. The usual gossip, but mostly wanting to know what the hell he had been up to in Montana after his family took a visit and he never returned.
“Someone?” She repeated, eyebrows narrowing in suspicion. The possibility of Rhett having someone was not what Maria planned for when she sought him out that day. It was to her knowledge when she asked around he was single or possibly hooking up with the usual buckle bunny. Not many could give her a straight answer since he’d been gone. They really had no fucking clue of what had become of Rhett Abbott.
Rhett gave a curt nod, “That’s right.”
Maria wasn’t having it, “is this someone special to you?”
“Look, Maria. I’m just gonna lay it flat with you,” he glances away at the sight of a familiar black Ram truck turning the corner. Behind it was a dark tinted SUV. As it proceeded down the street, Rhett spotted the giant yellow ‘Y’ on the truck’s side. “I’m engaged.”
“Engaged?” She exclaimed, as though she could not believe it. When the fuck did that happen and why did no one in town know? It had to be a lie to get her to back off him. The thought made a slight anger rise in her that Rhett would say something so serious as his way to reject her. Narrowing her eyes and spitting a tone that was almost mocking, Maria failed to notice the truck pulling up to a stop behind her, “To who?”
His eyes were looking past her, smirk taking form, “to her.”
When Maria spun around on her she froze at the sight of the black Ram with bright yellow lettering spelling ‘Yellowstone Dutton Ranch’ around a large ‘Y’ in the center of the side door. The back windows were tinted preventing anyone from seeing inside, but Maria didn’t have to wait long because the door was opening and a foot clad in a shiny nude heel was stepping out.
It was almost like when you watch a show and only get a small portion of the person the camera is panning its way to before they fully emerge. In this case, the second heel—which Maria was able to notice the eye-catching red bottom beneath it—followed the first before the body and face they belonged to was visible to her eyes.
She wore a light tan dress that ended right above her knees and accentuated her curves paired with a matching coat hanging over her shoulders and brown gloves on her hands. The dress had a neckline that cut beneath her collarbones, allowing the layered gold necklaces to bounce off the light around her. Brown hair with warm tone highlights was pulled back into a slick bun save for a few strands to frame her face, which stood out with the bright red lipstick coating her lips and the pair of cat-eye like sunglasses covering her eyes. Tucked behind one of her ears was a cigarrete.
She was beautiful. Like a model who just stepped off a runway and Maria instantly felt a wave of envy course through her. Several people passing by even stopped to get a glance at the woman, making no hidden attempt to hide their jealousy or attraction. Some of the older men traveling on the sidewalk had done a double take when they saw the name of the ranch on the truck.
And Rhett? He was biting his lip so hard to hide his grin that he was afraid it would start bleeding. And when he let his eyes travel over her figure, a low whistle sounded under his breath, the man praying his cock would not react because the last thing he wanted was a hard on in the middle of broad daylight.
Maria heard his reaction, turning back to see the awestruck expression which gave away everything he was feeling in that moment. It made her upset—remembering when he would look at her that way. Now it was directed toward this mystery woman. His fiancé. It fueled her jealousy more.
“Hey there, cowboy,” her voice was smooth like honey. Flirty and playful. Maria knew that tone—she’s used it on plenty of men. She’s used it on Rhett.
“Hey yourself,” he greeted, watching her step onto the sidewalk before shutting the door behind her. Maria had stepped back a bit as the woman strutted toward them, the bottom of the coat brushing against her knees. The sound of her Louboutin’s clicking against the pavement echoed before she came to a stop in front of Rhett. As much as he wanted to bring her into his arms with a kiss, Rhett settled for a soft peck on the corner of her mouth to not mess up her lipstick.
Both were obvious to the strained look of the woman to the side, who’s jealousy was so visible one could probably sniff it from a mile away.
“How was the drive?”
She took her gloves off first—aware of Maria’s eyes on her left hand which held a diamond ring—, placing them in the pocket of her coat before removing the sunglasses, “As bearable as it can be with those two idiots.” The gesture of her head had Rhett glancing to the truck she arrived in. In the front he spotted Lloyd in the passenger seat with Rip behind the wheel. The window was up, but he could make out their wave to him and returned it with a small smile. With a chuckle he turns back to his fiancé, “I’m sure it wasn’t too bad, baby.”
Her brow raised in a playful glare, “Maybe I’ll drive your truck back by myself tomorrow and you can take up camp with them. See how long you last.”
Rhett laughs—the sound sending a dagger to Maria’s heart—pulling her to his side, “I’m sorry you had to endure that.” She makes a ‘hmmph,’ which only makes him grin. “What’s with the SUV?”
She scoffed lightly, “I told them not to come, but when your father is the governor of Montana, the protection detail is a given. Whether I like it or not.” Maria visibly reacted to the revelation that not only was Rhett engaged….but his fiancé was the daughter of Montana’s governor.
Now she remembered where she recognized the name on the truck. John Dutton had recently been elected the previous year during turmoil with his family's ranch and Market Equities.
Maria watched as the woman, whose name she had yet to know, removed the cigarette behind her ear before placing it between her lips. Instead of lighting it herself, Rhett pulled out a lighter and did it for her. The two kept eye contact the entire time which felt like Maria was intruding on an intimate moment.
The—not so settle—sound of Maria clearing her throat broke up the happy reunion. While Rhett was annoyed, she found it amusing, turning her attention to Maria. With the glasses removed Maria was able to get a good look at her face. From afar she was beautiful, but up close she was captivating.
Blue green eyes stared back at Maria, framed by neatly groomed full brows that matched the color of her hair and a thin line of eyeliner winged out. Other than the eyeliner and lipstick, it appeared she wasn’t wearing any other makeup—something many would be envious of. And though there was a good sized scar on her left cheekbone—as was two on her chest forming an odd shape—it did not take away from her beauty. In fact it made her look more intimidating.
Rhett broke the silence, “Maria, this is Lana. Lana Dutton.” Lana, who was now looking Maria up and down, gave a smile. But it wasn’t friendly which had Maria raise her defenses. “Darlin’, this is—.”
“I know who she is,” Lana gently cut Rhett off, blowing smoke out as she did. “So nice to put a face to a name.” In that moment Marie felt a sense of pride, nearly smirking at the fact that she was still a topic of his life. But it soon deflated when Lana said, “oh don’t look too happy, Maria. I can smell heartbreak on a man from a mile away and when Rhett landed in Yellowstone he reeked of it. Not to mention he was drunk off his ass and well, you know what they say, ‘Loose lips sink ships.’” Maria’s smirk turned into a frown, Lana taking another inhale of smoke.
“But that was a long time ago,” Lana spoke again, “you sure did a number on him, but thankfully Rhett realized his worth.” The couple met each other’s gaze, Rhett conveying a mix of emotions at the woman who captured his heart.
Neither paid attention to the shame Maria was showing. The dark haired woman was having trouble finding the right words to say. What Lana said cut into her, which only made her angry. Quickly she tried to think of a way to divert the attention away from her, “I doubt drowning himself in booze and fucking any piece of ass had him realize that.”
She expected a flash of anger from Lana, which Rhett certainly gave at the insult, but to Maria’s surprise, Lana simply laughed in what could best be described as, ‘you done fucked up now.’ Maria tightened her jaw, taking a step back when the brunette pulled away from Rhett to move toward her. This time when Lana took a drag of the cigarette, she let the smoke waf in Maria’s face—the smell nearly making her gag.
Lana’s expression was cold, unwavering as she spoke, “Is that your way of trying to get me to see Rhett in a different light? To judge him based on the decisions he used to make—which were a direct result of how he felt the world viewed him? Don’t think I don’t know what girls like you do. You sought him out from the moment you heard he was back in town—hoping to slither your way back into his life as though you weren’t the reason for y’all’s breakup two years ago.”
“You don’t know anything,” Maria hissed, glaring at Lana as the anger swelled. With the heels Lana was wearing it made her about an inch or so taller than Maria and with them being so close the scar on her face was more pronounced.
“Please,” came a scoff, “I know everything. I see how you hold yourself. How you let your eyes drift to him only to be disappointed that his eyes are on me. I see how you’re comin’ up with ways to challenge me—as though you have a chance to remove me from the picture, but Imma let you in on a little secret,” Lana falls into a whisper as she leans closer causing Maria to stiffen. People around them pitted glances as they walked past, trying not to eavesdrop but Lana was smarter. What she was about to say was for Maria’s ears only.
Lana’s lips curled up, “You see this scar on my face?” It was a rhetorical question, but nonetheless Maria nodded. Behind her, Rhett muttered a low, “darlin’,” in warning. Though it turned him on immensely by what he was witnessing from his fiancé, he didn’t want her jeopardizing herself. They weren’t in Darby, Montana anymore. Anything she said here could have consequences.
But Lana was relentless. If someone was threatening her, she threatened back ten fold. And she was gonna make sure they knew to never mess with Lana Dutton again. Unfortunately for Maria, it was her time to learn the lesson.
Eyes locked on Maria, voice so low Maria had to strain her ears to hear, the dark brunette was sent to chills by what the Dutton had in store for her. It made her throat constrict for air seemed impossible to breathe.
“The man who gave me it is currently rotting at the bottom of a cliff after I blew a hole through his head with a shotgun. Because where I come from, we take matters into our own hands when people become problems. So take my advice when I warn you, Maria, don’t become my problem.”
The fear on Maria’s face almost had Rhett feel sympathetic, “Lana…”
“And if you question the truth of my words,” Lana’s head gestures to Rhett, “You can ask him. He was there to witness it.” With that, both out of fear and curiosity, Maria glances at Rhett. Part of her was praying Lana was bluffing in an attempt to scare her, but the look Rhett gave her was enough proof she was in fact telling the truth.
Alarms bells were ringing in her head—telling her to get the fuck out of there and pretend like she didn’t just hear a confession to murder. From the governor of Montana’s daughter for that matter. And Rhett was engaged to her? If she had the balls to kill someone in cold blood, what did that say about her family?
Have they killed before?
The anxiety filled Maria’s veins as she let out a shaky breath, unsure of what to do. Lana’s gaze was becoming too much for her and from what Maria gathered it was to get a point across. ‘Tell anyone what I told you, and I’ll come for you.’
Lana brings her cigarette up, taking the final drag before throwing it to the pavement and stepping on the bud. Not once did her eyes leave Maria’s. “I would warn you to keep this between us. If rumors start to spread about Rhett Abbott’s fiancé…I’ll know who the source is.” Stepping away, Lana bids a nod, “It was a pleasure meeting you, Maria. Hope we never have to cross paths again. For your sake.”
Taking his hand, Lana pulls Rhett away to where his truck was parked beside the curb a few cars down. Maria was left frozen, her face pale by the final threat Lana had given— which unbeknownst to her had the two men in the truck chuckling. “What I would give to hear what Lana just said. Poor girl looks like she’s seen a ghost,” Lloyd mused, watching the couple walk up the sidewalk. Rip put the car in drive, prepping to follow them, “Whatever it was, she won’t be a problem. Bitch wouldn’t be stupid enough to if she were smart.”
When Rhett and Lana made it to his truck, her back was immediately pushed against it as Rhett’s lips crashed onto hers. His rough hands cradled her face, Lana smiling against his lips which were sure going to be stained from her lipstick. There was an immediate pressure against her abdomen from his groin. Obviously her little stunt was well received.
When they pulled away, Lana was amused by some of the looks they were receiving from around them. “You,” he breathed out, mouth closed to hers, “are somethin’ else. You know that?”
Lana bit her lip with a cheeky look in response, as if to say, “I know.” She brought her left hand up to his cheek, stoking the soft skin with her thumb. “Had to make a statement. Can’t let some has been try to throw me off my rocker, cowboy.”
He lets out a laugh, arms going to loosely wrap around her waist. “That why you dressed like this? I ain’t used to ya dolling up like this but—,” he trails off to check her out, loving what he was seeing. “I could definitely get used to it.” Normally Lana wore a tank top that made her tits look like heaven and tore up jeans with her boots and leather jacket. As the youngest Dutton, she worked on the ranch as a hand and—like the others who wore the brand—did dirty work when it was called for.
The man she told Maria was just one of the many Lana had sent to the train station.
Only after John was elected governor did she get involved in politics and the business side of her family’s ranch. The media was always lurking, trying to get a glimpse of John Dutton’s youngest daughter who was more like his personal bodyguard. It became a constant annoyance for her. Avoiding reports soon became a second nature for Lana and the times she and Rhett went out they had to keep things professional for the sake of image. It was her father who encouraged her to try getting involved in other things now that he was more of a public figure than just the man who owned the country's largest ranch.
Answering Rhett’s question, Lana gave a shrug, “Just thought I should make it clear to the people of Wabang that Rhett Abbott is off the market and—not to toot my own horn—but she has style and is surely what they would call ‘a catch.’”
“Damn right she is,” he murmured, tipping his hat back a bit to pull her into another kiss. “We sure gonna be the talk of the town tonight.”
“Good. That was the plan.” Lana places one last kiss before playfully pushing him away and hopping into his tuck. “Now let’s get the fuck out of here, cowboy. Lloyd and Rip know to get started on packing your shit while you and I make up for the lost time these past couple weeks.”
Rhett didn’t hide his grin, feeling the tightness in his jeans increase. Boy was he in for the ride of his life when he fell in love with Lana Dutton. “Yes ma’am.”

Tickles and Tunes
2012 Leonardo x Reader imagine
Info + Warnings: References this song. No gendered language, pronouns, or Y.N used for Reader. Set post S5, pre finale.
Commentary: Sorry for projecting my basic music taste on all of you. It will happen again.
Tumblr media
"It was a brilliant solution!"
"Sure, sure," you said, walking into Leo's room. "But let's not act like Ryan had that planned. He's good, but he didn't even know that planet existed-"
"No, of course not." He followed you, taking your coat and bag from your hands and moving to set them on his desk chair. "But he adapted quickly, rolled with the punches. He had it planned by mid-episode."
"That's giving him a whole lot of credit, Leo. Just because you would have figured it out that quickly-"
"You saw his face on the bridge! He was cool as a cucumber. There's no way he didn't have a plan."
You smiled and shook your head, switching on his speaker. "Sure, fearless. Whatever you say."
"You don't agree?"
You glanced back at him with a smug smirk. "Let's just say I know what it looks like when a leader is totally winging it."
"And what's that supposed to mean?" He asked, playfully stern.
"It means," you drew out the word, tapping through playlists on your phone, "That I'm an expert on his kind."
"S'that so?"
"It's so."
Music flowed through the room, light and happy, just loud enough to make Leo's already nearly-silent movements truly inaudible. Luckily, you anticipated the way his arms looped around your waist.
What you didn't expect was his hand snaking up and taking your phone to move it to the desk- or him lifting you up a moment later.
"Leo!" You exclaimed as he quickly crossed the room to his bed and deposited you on top of it, prompting a little oof as you landed.
"Tell me, oh wise expert," he grinned over you, "Did you know that would happen?"
"No," you admitted, biting back a laugh and schooling your expression into something serious. "This is new behavior to me. I'll need to study it."
You didn't need to be an expert to catch the mischievous sparkle in his eyes as he placed his good knee on the bed and leaned down, boxing you in with his hands on either side of your waist. "You'd better be ready to take notes."
It was times like these that dating a speedy ninja had its disadvantages: by the time your clever retort reached your throat, it dissolved into shocked giggles- he was tickling you.
"Leo, Leo-"
"What, drawing conclusions already?"
"Only that-" you shrieked, squirming backward to try to escape his fingers- "You're clearly- clearly- evil!"
Leonardo laughed. "Interesting conclusion."
"Mercy!" You managed between laughs of your own. "White flag, uncle!"
He relented, stilling his fingers and moving to instead rub up and down your sides affectionately. "Evil doesn't usually respond to 'uncle'."
"Maybe I had more faith in you than I thought," you said breathlessly.
"Doesn't sound very scientific of you."
"It was plenty scientific. I knew from repeated experiments that you're a merciful specimen."
"So, not evil."
"Not evil," you confirmed, "Unless you're tickling me."
"Good to know."
You realized the song playing had ended. or, more accurately, the distinct opening of the next song caught your attention, making you huff out a laugh in exasperation.
"What is it?"
"The song. The timing of it."
The turtle hovering over you paused to listen, eyes shifting towards the speaker. "I don't think I know it."
"Ah." You smiled sheepishly, blood rushing to your face. "It was uh… it's… it's my you song."
That brought his curious eyes back to your own. "Me song?"
You nodded. "Yeah, like… you." With that, you looked away, studying the wraps on his wrist instead of his face. "Always makes me think of you. Has for a long time."
Leo crawled the rest of the way onto the bed and quietly settled down beside you- opposite the speaker.
Feeling his eyes on you, you hid your face in your hands, making him chuckle.
The two of you sat quietly, listening to the song play. You couldn't help feeling exposed; it was like he was reading your diary in the chords of the guitar.
When Leo finally spoke, it was to tease you. "… I don't have hair to-"
"Shhhh."
You heard him laugh again. His hand landed softly on your wrist, gently pulling your hand from your face to intertwine your fingers.
The singer finally reached the chorus, and you studied the cement blocks of the ceiling as the most damning line of the song played.
"Oh, I see."
"Mhm."
"I don't think I've dragged you anywhere head first."
You snorted. "A, you're taking this too literally. B," you turned your head to meet his gaze, "You absolutely have. Missions, obviously- repeatedly, okay- but-" your voice dropped, less confident as you moved out of teasing him and into something more serious- "Dragged me head first into loving you, so."
His smile took on a distinctly bashful note as his grin grew. "I see."
"Oh," you grumbled, looking back at the ceiling, "Shut up."
He did not shut up, but his voice did soften. "I'm not sure I did the dragging."
"I'm sure."
Leo pressed a lingering kiss to your temple, falling silent again to hear the rest of the song.
You could see him bobbing his head out of the corner of your eye, and suspected that if you actually looked you'd find that his grin was replaced by a much calmer smile. You did not look. Instead, you let your eyes slide shut, savoring the way his hand felt against yours.
You wondered how many times you'd listened to this song. How many times had you found yourself flustered by it over the radio? How many times had it been the background music to butterflies in your stomach and heat in your cheeks?
What would the you of listenings past think of this moment?
You almost laughed at the thought. the idea that you and Leonardo would ever be together had been almost forbidden in your own mind: he was the leader, he was a mutant, he was almost certainly not interested.
That last point had been proven incorrect.
Leo's voice pulled you out of your thoughts as the song ended. "It's a good song."
"It's a great song," you corrected, emboldened by your trip down memory lane. You had come a long way, the both of you. "It's- the lyrics always- they fit. but…"
"Hm?" he prompted gently.
Your new-found confidence faded again at the softness in his tone, at the way he rubbed a thumb over your hand. You glanced at him and found yourself feeling sixteen again, shy under his gaze.
To fight it, you screwed your eyes shut again. "It sounds like the feeling I'd get around you," you admitted quietly. "That fluttery feeling. The guitar, that sparkly sound in the background, the way she sounds giddy- especially at the end of each verse, how she like, raises her voice? Like she's excited?"
Silence.
You peeked one eye open to find him staring at you, a bewildered smile on his face. "I love you," he breathed.
You rolled to face him, opening your eyes completely and melting into his mattress. "I love you too."
He scooted forwards, wrapping you in his arms and tossing a knee over your own while pressing a smiley kiss to your forehead. "That was the cutest thing anyone's ever said to me."
You found yourself without a response.
Instead, you wrapped an arm over his shell, bringing your other hand to trace his jaw.
"I should show you my you song some time, huh?"
Your eyebrows shot up and Leo laughed. "You have a me song?"
"What, you think you're the only one that listens to music?"
"No," you huffed, struggling to put your question into words. "But… me?"
You were almost overwhelmed by the answer in his eyes, by how much love was visible- how much was directed at you. "Of course, you," he mumbled, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. Then, impossibly quiet, "Of course it's you."
Tumblr media
Your shriek of laughter echoed through the lair, followed by Leonardo's quieter but no less genuine chuckle, and Raph felt Casey glance at him. "Dude, I can't remember the last time I heard them laugh like that," Casey said quietly. "Didn't know Leo even remembered how."
April hummed from the beanbag chair in front of them. "I think it's nice."
"Nice and loud, maybe," Raph mumbled, his words lacking any real bite. "Can barely hear the TV over all that."
"You should try watching Crognard when Mona's over." Casey threw his voice up into a high pitched squeak. "Oh, mona, you're so cool, I may faint-"
Raphael tossed a pillow at him, satisfied by the whump of it hitting him in the face and knocking him sideways onto the couch. "Shuddup already, will ya?"
April and Casey laughed, and Raph barely managed to bite back his own grin. He wouldn't say it out loud, but it had been nice to hear Leo goofing off- add the mention of his own girlfriend and the delight of hitting Casey with something and you had the start of a great mood.

Failed threesome?
- @try-set-me-on-fire
HAHAH oh the failed threesome fic, my white whale… the concept started out as a joke but then i wrote like six thousand fucking words about it and realized I actually had a lot I wanted to say!! the idea was some time in a nebulous early s5 where buck and taylor stayed weird friends and never got together, but eddie and ana decide to try something out (threesome). they ask buck, he agrees, they go through the motions of planning, and then ana and eddie break up like, the night before. the rest of the fic is them dealing with the fallout of I know, in great detail, everything you would have let me do to you. and having several crises and breakdowns about it lol. they fight a lot <3 it’s fun <3
the current conundrum is whether or not i want to drag it into a post-s6 timeline and have it be marisol instead, i kind of want a scene i wrote between buck and taylor to be buck an kameron. because i like her and it would be funny chchdhdh BUT i haven’t decided anything yet. i do love this fic. it’s kind of insane but it’s very special to me. here’s the opening scene:
“He asked you what?!”
This conversation was a mistake. This friendship was a mistake. His whole life was a mistake.
“It’s not even a big deal—,” Buck tries feebly.
Taylor’s jaw drops cartoonishly before she bursts into near-hysterical laughter. Barely managing to get out, “Buckley. You are quite possibly the stupidest motherfucker alive,”
He’s decided that he hates having friends, actually.
He throws the pillow he’s been strangling with white knuckles for the past few minutes at her head, where she sits a few feet away from him on his living room sofa. It half-hits and is half-caught as she wheezes, tears in her eyes, and throws it back at him.
Taylor had come over to his loft for their whenever-we’re-free wine and bitch night and immediately clocked that he had something on his mind. And he did. A very big something. And luckily for Taylor, the nosiest asshole he’s ever met, she’s probably the only person he could imagine telling about it without dying of mortification. She doesn’t bullshit him either, which he thinks he might need right now.
Or, at least, he thought he did, before she started laughing at him.
Buck makes a half-hearted attempt at suffocating himself with the newly returned pillow, groaning into it dramatically.
“God, no— wait,” Taylor gets out, breath hitching as she tries to compose herself around the bubbling giggles, “He— You’re telling me that he invited you to have a threesome?”
“Not in so many words,” Buck whines, muffled into the pillow, “and technically, it was his girlfriend inviting me,” he levers himself back upright, letting his head fall against the back of the sofa, “but yeah. Yeah he did,”
The exact words used were ‘You can tell me to fuck off if this is… uh, way off base, but Ana was wondering if I’d—well, we’d talked about—we want to invite you into bed. With us. Sometime. If that’s something that would interest you,’ expression stoic, gaze anywhere but Buck. His whole face had turned deeply red under the neon lights of the bar where they were grabbing a drink, and Buck would have been delighted by the sight of it if he hadn’t been using all of his brain power not to choke on his beer, ‘we talked about… new things. To do. And she knows I trust you. Obviously. So. Yeah,’
And he had the audacity to shrug afterwards. Like the entire concept didn’t entirely rearrange Buck’s brains.

Hello again! I hope you don't mind. What's your opinion on Azure Lion, and the Brotherhood? You said they were a toxic group, can you explain how and why? I am very dense. Also have you watched the newest Monkey King movie? What do you think of it? Are there any part of JTTW or Sun Wukong's story you'd like to see be made into a movie that doesn't get much attention? Not LMK verse of course. I'd like to see Ao Lie, the White Dragon Horse's story get expanded on, especially when the group encounter the Dragon family during their journey. What about you? What's your opnion on LBD's host, or Bai He as the fans are calling her? Would you like an interaction between her and SWK? Have a good month!
ok imma save your brotherhood question for last because once i start with them and swk's relationship with them, i will not stop.
anyway,
no, i haven't seen the new Monkey King movie yet T^T i hope to see it soon when i have free time, but uni's began, so i will be busy with assignments T^T goodbye summer vacation :'(
as for what jttw story i'd like to see more of? hmmmmm, idk, though tbh i am very new with any jttw interpretation (my introduction to this story was through OSP, and after seeing the sun&moon poll i decided to check out lmk), so my personal information is still small compared to the people who grew up with the many stories and variations of Journey to the West and its characters.
however, i kind of wanna say Sha Wujing/Sandy? mostly because he does seem like an interesting character (2nd strongest out of the companions if i'm remembering right), and is fairly clever with his fighting (which might be why he gets along with swk a lot). idk, it would be fun to get some background on how he acquired his skull necklace (pretty sure they were enemies of his???? or something idk) and his own motivations for redemption, not to mention he does become a Bodhisattva just like swk and Tripitaka (pretty Pigsy/Zhu Baije doesn't???), so that would be fun to touch on!
moving on now....i actually do like how the fandom just adopted :BD's host and we all affectionately call her Bai He! it's sweet and i like that we all kind of want to see her own recovery of being possessed for like months (or a year idk lmk timeline is weird and funky and no i am not annoyed-) i am a big fan of the "Macky adopts previously possessed child out of solidarity but also she latched onto him first and wouldn't let go so he's kind of stuck with her now :)" it's very fanon but, eh, i'm a sucker for "reluctant dad to protect the smol" characters (prob another reason why i love Pigsy and swk so much lmao).
ALSO, i think her interactions with swk would be so funny (for me) and awkward (for swk) because she's like "thanks for saving the world and me!" and swk like "MHM! uh yeah, sure, np kiddo" bc he did almost kill her (tho he really did try to find a way to not do that) but also Bai He might not even be mad at him for that. (maybe i want her to attempt to befriend him, but swk is just so nervous and feeling a tad guilty so he avoids her but she's a persistent little fucker, maybe i want to a lot, sue me)
idk what her role is now in the show tbh. she could be sidelined now, and we only get cameos of her (s3 ending & s4 special) for the time being just showing her slow recovery (lmk has been doing a "minor/background character development happening behind the scenes" for awhile (DBK fam) so i wouldn't be surprised if we see that with her). but it's possible that she could grow to have some role in s5 or s6 (maybe she's got some leftover LBD powers bc post-possession symptoms, maybe Mr. Hoodie Man wants to use her too bc she was such a great host for LBD, maybe she saw something plot relevant while possessed concerning MK and wants to warn him or his friend??? WHO KNOWS???)
ok.....Brotherhood™️ what are my thoughts on them......
this post is already long as is, and i have class in 30 minutes, oh boy let's go >:3
sO, let try and summarize my thoughts of them before delving in: i think that narratively, the Brotherhood are a great way for establishing who Sun Wukong was pre-jttw as well as giving us access to his history with Macky (THANK FUCKING GOD I WAS SO DESPERATE FOR THEIR BACKSTORY).
the Brotherhood is also a great way to showcase MK's growing similarities with swk and the narrative parallels the two characters have for each other. we already knew swk was trying to mentor MK is a way that was different from how swk lived his life before because, we he's shown, he really does regret his past actions, and wants MK to be a better version, believes MK can be this better version of him. and you can see him trying, but also he fails to really explain WHY his teaching methods are slow and vague sooooooo, uh oh :)
anyway, character-wise.....the Brotherhood is written to be both sympathetic and dislikable. the sympathetic aspect comes with Azure and his Cause™️ because that shows you that "wait a minute...he really did want to do good, but lost sight of it and the harm he was doing along the way." you're supposed to sympathize with him, you're supposed to feel confused about his shaky relationship with swk because "Azure only wanted to do good, yet swk ruined it" <- this is some excellent unreliable narrator shit i love about this show btw
HOWEVER! Azure is not an archetype character (lmk doesn't really do archetypes. okay, they do, BUT it's more of deconstruction of the archetype than really using an archetype, you feel me?) he is a character who is deeply flawed. he is idealistic and vain (yes, yes he is vain bc have you seen this lion????) Azure built up swk on a pedestal of what a true role model king should look like (nevermind that swk's kingdom was on a island and his subjects were just monkeys, meaning his reign was fairly small compared to Heaven, therefore more manageable BUT I DIGRESS)
basically, Azure placed so much admiration and all his ideal onto swk, who was frankly a lot younger than the celestial lion being that he would have only recently met him post-Havoc & he was only about 500-600 years old by then (maybe????), and saw the monkey more as a perfect weapon to use to defeat the Jade Emperor and start a new, "more compassionate" era.
ok, and this is just me speaking, but, Azure, honey, if you really wanted to help restart Heaven into helping out the poor humans, instead of the very flawed bureaucracy you argued against.....maybe, don't continue on with a monarchy????? idk, maybe it's the Western influence talking but Azure, if you hate the celestial lords and emperor so much, maybe create a system that DOESN'T favor the lords and emperor????? break the whole system apart and create something new???? course you didn't think that far (which was eloquently shown in the special) so i'm honestly not surprised that your mission failed so many times
anyway, the dislikable aspect! Peng is a wonderful character for this section! so, when meeting Azure, you may come to a couple conclusions: wow a pretty lion! is he trustworthy? well, he seems to really want to help out.....damn he's got quite the silvertongue there, very convincing and great orator....you seem very upset about whatever swk did to you, huh? but meeting Peng you get: ooooh pretty bird man! oh, they're kind of a bitch, aren't they? yeah, still a bitch (and depending on the viewer, bitch can be affectionate or derogatory)
but yeah, so Peng, one of Azure's brother trio who worked with him in the Celestial Court and views him as the leader of the Brotherhood rather than swk (actually, none of the brotherhood members even consider swk their leader, except Azure and maybe Macky (but that might be bc Macky does not fucking care about the brotherhood member BUT swk) bc the rest view swk as their prized weapon)
Peng is really the character that starts to make you reconsider Azure's trustworthiness because my god is this bird the most condescending and bitchiest of friends. they are that toxic friend, okay? it was because of Peng that i clocked in "oh, ok, this is high school toxicity 101, got it" lol
anyway, Peng does not really seem to care that much for...the Cause™️ like Azure and Yellow Tusk do. rather, they seem to just stick around mostly because Azure and Yellow Tusk are their brothers and that's it. i guess props for staying loyal??? but still, Peng is the character that gives us the first crack into Azure's worthy crusade because their character will resort to violence first, turns on anyone who slightly disagrees with Azure's methods (*cough cough* Mac *cough cough*) or, hm, let's say....surrenders to the Jade Emperor, is missing for 500 years, then miraculously is freed and is working with a Buddhist monk?
so yeah, uh running out of time but to sum up: Azure and the brotherhood were never really "friends" they were colleagues who though they all had a common goal to defeat Heaven but their loyalty was built on ideals and pedestals and flaky attitudes which was why Mac was never comfortable around them, why DBK stopped interacting with them after the war, and WHY swk was so easily pointed as a traitor and a villain by the Camelhead Trio.
*jazz hands* and there you go, i would say more but i have class!

mike lucas anything oh my god
Congratulations Ella nancysglock you have been selected to receive ✨️a ficlet✨️
This takes place post S5, senior year of high school. Sill in Hawkins. Established Byler and Lumax. And. It's fluff. I've written fluff. Don't get used to it.
-
Lucas and Mike walked through the mall, Mike attempting to tune out the grating sounds of the Christmas music playing over the speakers.
They'd driven an hour to get to this godforsaken mall. Sometimes, despite the poor effect on the local economy and the Russian lab in the basement, Mike kind of missed having Starcourt in Hawkins.
They had to weave through the line of kids waiting to see "Santa". Mike looked over at the man wearing a red suit and a synthetic white beard and cringed.
"I've always thought that was kind of-" He started.
"Creepy?" Lucas finished.
"Yeah. Who lets their kid sit on some random guy's lap?" Mike said.
"And who agrees to do that job? I mean come on, that guy's definitely a felon," Lucas added.
Mike snorted.
The air smelled of too strong flowery perfume and Chinese food, mingling into a borderline nauseating aroma. Mike wrinkled his nose as they passed the food court.
"What's wrong?" Lucas asked.
"Smells," Mike remarked.
Lucas raised an eyebrow, "You're such a baby. Can we please focus? We need to figure out what we're getting for Will and Max."
"I already know what I'm getting for Will," Mike said.
"Good for you, man," Lucas said sarcastically.
"It's not my fault you don't know your girlfriend as well as I know my... Will" Mike said.
Lucas laughed. "Could you have meant your boyfriend?" he asked.
"Yeah, whatever," Mike mumbled, averting his eyes as they continued to walk through the crowd.
"It's fine, man," Lucas said casually.
And it was fine. Mike knew that. He knew Lucas was happy for him. "It just feels weird to say... out loud," he said.
"Well, it's not," Lucas said matter-of-factly.
"Not what?" Mike asked.
"Weird," Lucas answered.
Mike paused. "Okay."
"Okay," Lucas echoed.
A small smile tugged at Mike's lips, he made sure not to let Lucas see.
"So let's find gifts for Max then," Lucas said, changing the subject.
"Gifts plural?" Mike questioned.
"Yeah, one from me, one from you," Lucas said with a smirk.
"Oh I am not getting Max a-"
"She got you one," Lucas interrupted.
"No she didn't," Mike argued, "You're making that up."
"Maybe, but you don't know that for sure, do you?" Lucas said.
Mike rolled his eyes, "I don't even know what girls like."
"Welcome to my world," Lucas said.
"I thought you knew what girls liked. Remember when you took me shopping to help me get El back?"
"We didn't even get her anything, and you didn't get her back," Lucas said with a laugh.
"I did eventually," Mike mumbled, "That's not the point. I mean aren't you like an expert?"
Lucas shrugged, "I thought I knew everything back then. We've both matured a lot."
"We have, haven't we," Mike remarked.
"Oh. No I meant Max and I have matured, you definitely haven't," Lucas joked.
Mike rolled his eyes, and quickened his pace so Lucas had to jog to catch up as they walked into a department store that looked like it had lots of... girl things.
"What are you getting for Will anyway?" Lucas asked as he felt the fabric of a scarf hanging on the rack.
"Art stuff he wanted and uh... I wrote him a letter," Mike said, flushing a little.
"That's not a bad idea. I should write Max a letter," Lucas said.
"What if I wanted to write Max a letter for her gift?" Mike joked.
Lucas huffed a laugh, "We can both write her a letter I think."
"Dear Max, you are my closest and dearest friend. I think you're so smart and beautiful, I love you soooo much-" Mike began.
Lucas laughed, "She'd probably hit you."
Mike shrugged, "Worth it."
"She wrote you a letter, you know. When she..." Lucas trailed off.
Mike could tell from his tone of voice what he was referring to. "Really?" he asked.
Lucas nodded.
Mike paused. "We should get out of here. There's a skate shop on the other side of the mall, she'd probably prefer something from there."
Lucas frowned, "Yeah... Yeah, why didn't I think of that?"
Mike shrugged, "You were too focused on getting the type of gift a boyfriend is supposed to get for his girlfriend?"
"When did you get all wise and shit?" Lucas asked.
"Speaking from experience," Mike said.
Lucas clapped him on the shoulder, "Let's go look at skateboards."
"Oh actually, I just need to grab one thing from here for Will."
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
"He likes those stupid fucking Christmas candles," Mike explained.
"They do smell good," Lucas said, "I like the cinnamon ones."
"Yeah? Well you can pick it out then," Mike said.
"Sure, but I'll tell Will I picked it out, and he'll probably hug me instead of you," Lucas said.
"Yeah? Well I'm gonna write Max the best letter she's ever read, it'll make your letter look like shit," Mike countered.
"I'll leave the letters to you, I'm gonna get her a new skateboard," Lucas said with a laugh.
"Dear Max, I actually think you should leave Lucas for me, because-"
Lucas slapped Mike's arm to shut him up, "Come on, idiot, let's pick out your stupid fucking candle for your boyfriend," he said fondly.
After arguing extensively about candles and finally selecting one, they started walking toward the skate shop.
"I wish I was actually going to be in Hawkins for Christmas," Lucas said.
"You should tell your parents you don't want to go to the ski resort," Mike suggested.
"I tried, they don't care," Lucas said.
"Well, you're an adult," Mike argued.
"As of a month ago," Lucas pointed out.
"Whatever, I think you should stay. We need you for the campaign. Erica too," Mike said.
"You guys will be fine. Max and El said they'd fill in," Lucas said.
"Yeah, only because you asked them," Mike mumbled.
"They'll do it," Lucas promised.
Mike hesitated. "Well maybe we just move the campaign up."
"You'd move the campaign for me?" Lucas asked.
"Of course," Mike said.
Lucas paused, "The skate shop's there," he said, starting to walk toward the store.
They walked in and Mike admired the wall of colorful skateboards. They were cool. Or whatever.
"I thought you said there was no way you guys would finish the campaign before Christmas," Lucas finally said.
Mike shrugged, "If Will and I pull a couple of all nighters we probably can."
"You don't have to do that," Lucas said.
Mike absently spun one of the wheels on a display board, "I know, I want to."
Lucas smiled. "Okay."
"Hey, I think we should test out the boards," Mike said.
"You can't ride a skateboard," Lucas said, exasperated.
"How hard can it be?" Mike asked, taking the display board off the shelf and setting it on the floor.
"You're gonna bust your ass," Lucas said.
"No, you'll catch me!" Mike said, stepping onto the board and wobbling, holding his arms out for balance.
"Get off, you're gonna fall," Lucas said.
"I… yeah," Mike said, teetering on the board, "Can you… I need help."
"You need help stepping off of a skateboard?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna fall!" Mike said, a bit panicked.
Lucas rolled his eyed and extended a hand. Mike grabbed his hand and started to lift one foot, but the board rolled slightly and he froze.
"Oh my god, dude," Lucas said, holding out his other hand.
Mike grabbed both of Lucas's hands and hopped, rather than stepped, off the board.
Lucas was practically doubled over laughing, and Mike tried to look offended but a grin spread across his face.
"Hey! No buy, no ride!" a voice said from behind them.
Mike scowled as they turned around to see…
"Keith?" they both said in unison.
"Hello troglodytes," Keith said in his deadpan nasally voice.
"What the hell, you work here?" Mike asked, picking the board up and returning it to the rack.
"Yep," Keith answered, "Moved to the city for school."
"There's no way you skateboard," Mike said dubiously.
"Why, because I'm a nerd? That's presumptuous," Keith said.
"Do you skateboard?" Lucas asked, eyebrows raised.
Keith hesitated. "Job's a job. Are you gonna buy anything?"
"Yeah, uh I'm looking for something for Max, I was thinking a new board," Lucas said.
"Mad Max," Keith said, smirking.
"Uh… yeah. So I guess do you have any recommendations?" Lucas asked.
Mike scoffed.
"Well, that one's our latest model, it's a-" Keith started.
"We'll take it," Mike interjected.
"What?" Lucas asked.
"Dude, we don't know shit about skateboards and neither does he. It's the latest model, we'll take it," Mike said.
Lucas hesitated. "Alright. We'll take it."
After they checked out, they walked out of the mall.
Lucas looked like he was thinking about something, then he finally asked, "Did you mean it, about the campaign, I mean? You'll move it up?"
"Yeah, dude. You're our ranger, we need you," Mike said.
Lucas smiled.
"More importantly we definitely can't play without Lady Applejack," Mike added with a smirk.
"Definitely not," Lucas agreed.

matilda.
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Fem!reader? (no physical descriptions)
Tumblr media
Summary: Steve Harrington is an 80s male version of matilda.
Word count: 1.9k (just something smol)
Warnings: almost pure angst. super tw to daddy issues and fights/arguments. mostly a steve x father fic with mentions of reader. ALSO idk what season or year this is set in. maybe season 2-3 ish. there's also cursing. OH i also named his dad bc writing mr. harrington all the time gave me anxiety so let's imagine his name is Blake. yes, i got inspiration after Blake Carrington......
English is NOT my first language.
A/N: hello cuties, so just in case we don't get Steve confronting his family in s5...wrote this. and also of course this is based on dawson's creek and harry's song. feeling versatile today. love you all and I HOPE YOU ENJOY <3
Steve got home after a double tutoring session for his SAT's. To say he was exhausted would be an understatement, but at least it helped him not to think about Y/N, his girlfriend that actually made it out of Hawkins after high school. Don't get me wrong, he was so proud of her for pursuing her dreams, but that didn't mean he didn't miss her to death and wish she was with him every night.
After entering the kitchen to make himself a sandwich because, of course, there wasn't food already made. It was his everyday routine, but when he turned around, he noticed his dad. Weird. He thought. He's almost never home, and when he is, it's like he avoids being in the same room as Steve. Yet here he was, passed out on the family couch next to a bottle of whisky. I guess it was a long day for him too.
Steve couldn't help but stare at him and feel empty. After a few moments of contemplating his next move, he decided to sit on the couch in front of him. He knew his father wouldn't wake up, yet he still sat down just for the nostalgia and pain of it all.
"So I guess this is as good a time as any to have that father-son talk." Steve looked at him and saw how he had this subtle snore. Great.
Steve made this lower voice impersonating his dad. "So, how are you doing at summer school, Steve?"
"Well, actually, dad, I'm doing all right. You know, I'm really turning things around. It turns out I'm pretty smart. Maybe I'm college-bound after all."
"Good man, Steve, I always knew you'd turn out to be something. How are the ladies treating you?"
"Uh, I met this woman." Steve answered himself and couldn't help but blush just at the thought of her.
"Is she cute?"
"Cute? man, uh, Y/N's beautiful. She's smart, she's funny. I tell you, this girl is really something special. And...whatever the reason, she seems to think I'm pretty special too."
He couldn't stop smiling by now. A warm feeling was taking over his body, one he was familiar with since he started dating Y/N. But that smile, that nice warm feeling, suddenly disappeared, making Steve frown and almost contain his tears. This is not what he was intending to do by having a fake conversation with his father. But he stayed with it.
"So why can't you see that? Hmm? Why can't you see me, man? When did you give up on me? when I was five? Hmm, ten? twelve? I'm eighteen years old, dad.
Steve was sobbing by now. He couldn't breathe properly either. He was embarrased to be perfectly honest but all those emotions he had bottled up for years were coming out. He couldn't help it even if he tried. And he did try.
"And I'm here, and I'm not perfect, but I try so hard for you. I just—it's your job. It's your job to love me. Because you're my father, no matter who I am or what I become. I can't do this by myself."
Steve didn't realize until now how much he actually needed his parents. Yeah, the party was great, as were his best friend and girlfriend, but the validation and support of his parents is something he always hopes he will get one day.
But it didn't seem like that would happen any time soon.
Later that week...
After another natural disaster in Hawkins, Steve wasn't surprised if it ended up being connected to the Upside Down or the lab, for that matter. But of course, his father didn't know that. So, after a long day at the office doing whatever it is that stock marketers do, Mr. Harrington met with Steve.
Steve wasn't really paying attention to what was happening; it wasn't anything new to him. He was consumed by the thought of his girlfriend once again. Fuck, he missed her. He missed her a lot. Sure, they would call each other every day, but it didn't make it any less hard on him. He wonders if Y/N felt the same way about their separation. Or was he too codependent?
Steve's dad shook him out of his thoughts when he started talking again.
"The sheriff was lying to me. He's in it up to his neck and he knows it."
Of course Steve knew Hopper. He's done everything in his power to protect the kids, so this type of incident wasn't him. It couldn't be.
"Come on, you don't even know if this has anything to do with him." Steve was trying to lift the mood and make his father not put the blame on Hopper.
"A random arson incident in the middle of Hawkins? Let's consider the likelihood of that, Steve." Blake scoffed, looking at Steve like he was delusional or just plain stupid.
How wrong he was.
"If God hadn't blessed you with my good looks, I wouldn't know whose son you were. Why don't you drive yourself home before you make another embarrassing comment.”
Steve just stared at the man. Wondering how on earth were they related.
"I think I'll walk."
Blake contained a laugh. Again, making Steve look bad in front of all his coworkers.
"As if I care."
Just as Steve was turning around to leave, he decided to add one more comment.
"You know, we assumed you did, Pop." he said smiling with his sarcastic and mocking voice. It was basically a fuck you, dad.
Blake was surprised at his comeback—was he trying to embarrass him? Nope. He wouldn't tolerate it.
"You'll have to excuse my son, boys. His girlfriend moves away and suddenly it's his time of the month." he said, forcing a laugh to make it seem like it was no big deal.
"Hey, screw you, okay?" Steve was getting annoyed by now. He wouldn't let himself be talked down like that anymore.
Blake tried to put Steve aside to talk to him in a more private environment, in which he most definitely would be scolding Steve for his attitude towards him.
But when he tried to grab his arm,
"Get your hands off me, alright? You don't touch me again, ever!" Steve was now shouting. The mere idea of his father having anything to do with him disgusted him more in that moment than any other day.
Mr. Harrington made that fake laugh again, trying to keep an appeareance in front of everyone else in the scene.
"Finally, my boy gets a pair. All it took was getting his heart broken by some little girl with a few screws loose."
Steve lost it. In his eighteen years, he had never punched his dad, not until today that is. He didn't know anything about you. He didn't know that you are the most amazing person to ever grace his existence.
"Y/N did more for my life in six months than you did in eighteen years, you rotten son of a bitch. So if you want to make fun of me, you want to burst out on me? That's fine. But if you make even the slightest disparaging remark about the woman I love, I swear to God, you'll be calling this town from a hospital bed, you understand?"
Blake was speechless. He didn't even move from the position where Steve had punched him just a minute ago.
With that, Steve was ready to leave. He couldn't look at his dad anymore. But first, now that he seemed to have his full attention after all these years, he had one more thing to say. To him, to everyone for that matter. Screw the reputation.
"And one more thing, even if Hopper was involved in all of this, he's still ten times the father you ever were."
The next day...
Steve was at the park waiting for the kids to call him through the walkie-talkie and ask him to pick them up from their D&D session. Just another regular day for him: picking up the kids, waiting for it to be night, and calling Y/N's dorm. He's sure her roommate is sick of all the calling, but he couldn't care less. He needed to hear her sweet voice. Yeah, he was codependent alright.
And just like yesterday, someone interrupted his thoughts. His dad. Talk about a surprise.
"What are you doing here?"
Mr. Harrington sat next to Steve on the park bench, leaving enough space for another person to fit between the two of them.
"For starters, you punched me."
Of course. Steve thought that's what he'd say.
"If you came looking for an apology, you're barking up the wrong tree."
"No, I don't need one. I deserved it. Good for you for doing it." What had gotten into Blake Harrington?
When Steve didn't respond, he decided to keep making conversation, something he clearly wasn't used to.
"You got another phone call today from Y/N. We talked for a long time. She's uh, kind of chatty, that one."
Steve smiled to himself. "Yeah, she is."
"She sounded sweet as hell, Steve. So, I'm sorry for what I said yesterday. I really don't know anything about her."
Steve finally got the courage to look him in the eyes. "Apology accepted."
Steve got up from the bench after that. He wanted to see what his father's next step would be. Would he follow him? Or leave now that he has a clean concience?
"I'm not done."
To Steve's surprise, Blake got up as well.
"As little as I know about her, I know even less about you, my own son."
They stay put for a moment, waiting for someone to continue. Mr. Harrington guessed that would be him again.
"I realized that as Y/N was trying to fill me in on what you two had been through, I didn't know about any of that. She said you were her hero. It was nice to hear."
That brought tears to Steve's eyes but he wouldn't let them fall. His lips stayed pressed together hoping the force would also help stop the tears. Boys don't cry, he reasoned, or at least not in front of Blake Harrington.
When Blake still got no verbal response from his son, he thought it was fitting. How many times has he done the same to Steve?
"Anyway, I called the school and I explained things to them. They're going to let you make up the finals next week when you feel up to it."
"Thank you." Steve was finally able to get the words out. You could see the pain in his eyes, yet he refused to be open about it.
"It's the least I could do." Even though Blake's voice didn't seem affected by all of this, you could see pain in his eyes too. From what? We don't exactly know. Yet.
"I'm sorry I haven't been the kind of father that you felt you could share your story with."
Fuck it. Steve started shredding tears; it wasn't a full crying look, but it was in the making. It was bound to happen, that's for sure.
"Uh, there's just one other thing here. Y/N wanted me to give you something."
You could tell Mr. Harrington was nervous—a little uncomfortable even. Meanwhile Steve had this confused expression. That's when his father started getting closer to hug him, patting his back a few times before pulling away. It was a quick hug. An awkward one too.
After that awkward embrace, they looked into each others eyes and saw the hurt they both shared, that's when they went for another hug. A hug that was expected for eighteen years. Steve finally broke down thinking this could possibly still be a dream, either way, he was going to take the deal.
THE END.
feedback and comments are greatly appreciated <3
should I start a steve tag list? i'm conflicted..

Pretty cool || Enid rhee x fem!reader
Warnings: None <3
Summary: first meeting with Enid (s5)
Tumblr media
_______________________
"Jeez, Y/n, you're so slow!!" Carl yelled at me, running through the streets of Alexandria.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes, walking after him, not bothering to walk a bit faster.
Carl stopped walking and looked back at me, "What, you don't care that you're going to get some new friends?"
I sighed, "Yeah, yeah." Finally catching up with him, "They'll probably not live long, the people here are pussies."
We walked up to one of the houses, "You're an asshole." Carl said before knocking on the door.
"I know, i like it." The door opened, a boy around our age stood in the doorway, giving us a small smile.
"Hey! Carl and.. Y/n, right?" He asked.
Carl smiled back at him, "Yeah, that's us." I rolled my eyes, 'well, this is awkward.'
"Cool, im Ron, come in." He stood aside, letting me and Carl walk in.
Ron showed us around the house a bit, eventually getting to his bedroom.
He opened the door, letting me and Carl walk in, i took a quick look around the room, spotting two other kids, Ron spoke again,
"Alright guys, this is Mikey," Ron pointed at the boy sitting at the desk, who gave us a smile, "Hello!"
Ron pointed at the girl, who was sitting on the bed, "And this is Enid." She didn't look up from the comic she was reading, replying alot less interested than Mikey, "Hey."
"Alright, so," Ron spoke again, looking at Mikey, "Maybe you, me, and Carl can hang out, we'll leave the ladies here to get to know each other."
Carl looked at me, trying to see if it was fine with me before answering, "Uh, yeah, sure." Ron smiled,
"Alright, awesome, let's go, we'll play some video games. Come on, Mikey." Ron walked out of the room, dragging Carl with him, Mikey following.
I sighed, now being alone in the room with Enid.
"So.." I spoke, trying to get a conversation going, "I guess we're alone now, huh?"
"Mhm." Enid replied, not bothering to look up at me, 'Well, this is awkward.'
"Mind if i sit?" I motioned to the bed,
"Sure." She replied, still not looking up at me,
I sat down on the bed and sighed again, now looking around the room, thinking about what to do.
"So, what're you reading?" It was pretty clear that she didn't want to talk, but she did anyway, "just some comics."
"Ah, cool, cool..", I laid back on the bed a bit, staring at the ceiling.
'Should i just leave? I should just leave, she doesn't want to hang out with me.'
"Hey Enid?", This time, she actually turned to me, i immediately noticed how pretty she actually is, "Uh, if you want me to leave.. you can just say it, OK? I don't want you to be forced to be around me if you don't want to."
Enid sighed and placed her comic book on the bed, "Look.. im sorry, im not really good at being social, and stuff like that.. but, i don't want you to leave, you don't seem bad." That made me smile.
"Come here." Enid motioned for me to sit beside her, which i did, she handed me a comic to read,
"Im sorry for being rude to you earlier." She said, i chuckled a bit,
"I wouldn't say you were rude, im honestly just like that, i don't enjoy being social either."
Enid smiled, "You're pretty cool, y'know?"
"Im cool?" I asked with a smile.
"Yeah," Enid looked away, but looked back at me again, "I thought you were going to be boring, but i don't think you are, you're cool."
I smiled, "Thanks, Enid." She smiled back, "You're welcome."
-----------------------------
Yeah this took way to long to write, and honestly im not that happy with how it turned out and i do really feel guilty for not really writing anymore, but I'll try to do it more, this is really short and very badly written but yeah, its something, thank you guys so much for all the support. <3
(Also quick note that this story and everything else i write isn't proof-read just to save myself from embarrassment, so if theres any mistakes, thats why)

I break a plot while I write a different story, so this teaser snippet is something I’m considering turning into a fic. (Not before Stick Figures is done.)
···
He eyes her speculatively while she's still hunched over the filthy tub. He’s pretty sure it’s not food poisoning, or the flu. Carol doesn’t get sick. In the couple of years that he’s known her, Rick hasn’t seen her catch as much as a sniffle. But, she’s been strange for a while and he doesn’t like where his conclusion leads.
“You okay?” he asks as she wipes the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand.
“Yeah,” she says, straightening up. “It just smells funny here.”
His brow furrows. “Uh-huh.”
The stench of the dead or a fresh kill has never bothered Carol before, but this is the second time Rick’s witnessed her tossing her proverbial cookies in the last few weeks. She looks pale, her skin almost translucent apart from the the bloom of pink on her cheeks, the same color as the roses on her 1980’s mom sweater.
Their secret meetings by the decrepit cabin outside the community are a necessity, but it’s hard for all three of them to get away without drawing attention from either the Alexandrians or their own group and now it looks like their arrangement will get even more complicated. Carol won’t be invisible—she’ll turn into town gossip in a world without soap opera or reality TV.
He wonders how long it will take for Daryl to work out what’s going on and if the other man will kill him when he does. Daryl’s been protective of Carol, at least since the highway en route to wherever they thought they were going, if not before then. That was why Rick waited until Daryl left for his scavenging mission before he exiled Carol from the prison. He would’ve lost the muscle, survival know-how and all the wild game the hunter provided for the community if he hadn’t, because Daryl would’ve left with Carol.
Because Daryl knows right from wrong. Knows you don’t send a woman out on her own in this world, even if you give her some provisions and a couple of gas canisters to make yourself feel like you’re a good guy, that you’re in the right. Bad things happen out there. Especially to women, and Carol’s already been through enough bad shit to last a lifetime. She doesn’t deserve...
“I’m pretty good with babies.” The words are out of his mouth before his brain catches up to what he’s saying. Carol looks startled for about half a second, opening her mouth as if to say something but then just... doesn’t.
Daryl comes into view, approaching from the woods and Rick sighs. Time to focus on the most pressing concern, how to get into the armory. Hell think about what to do about Carol and how to avoid Daryl’s ire later.
···
So, late S5 dark(ish) babyfic AU...? This is the canon arc where we see Carol lose faith in her own humanity and Daryl reverts back into an outsider—the Gimple era of Caryl estrangement. The dark elements in my fic would come from the emotional arc, not external physical foes.
Rick would be a main character alongside Carol and Daryl because there are so many juicy things from his arc which would have an impact: his guilt over Sophia, his treatment of Lori during her unexpected and unwanted pregnancy, as well as Carol’s banishment and the verbal cruelty Rick heaped on her before sending her off while Carol still saved both his children, at her own cost.
I just don’t think that I’ve earned enough reader trust (yet) for Caryl fans to choose to read this story. A friend suggested that I add a poll because people feel less exposed when it’s anon and I can see her point, so I will despite feeling stupid about “soliciting.” Consider yourselves my focus group? 🙃
Thanks for reading the snippet, whether you choose to engage or not. I appreciate it (hope you enjoyed!) and your potential help in deciding if to plot this fic.

WIP ask game: I need to hear about Green is just not your color Eddie - (Buck x Josh with jealous Eddie during s5) pls!!!!
You were the first one to ask about it, followed by @pirrusstuff so here we go: (honestly, this is more dialogue than anything)
Buck waits until Josh has his seat belt on before taking off into LA’s night traffic. “Seriously, Buck. I really appreciate you taking me home.” “No problem.” Buck shrugs his shoulders. “Besides, it saves me from Maddie asking more questions about the Taylor thing.” “I swear, dating gets harder and harder to do these days.” Buck can tell, just from his tone of voice, that Josh rolled his eyes with that last comment. “Tell me about it. So far, all my Tinder matches have been interested in having one night stands and nothing more. I just gave up on dating apps.” Buck shakes his head. “Urgh, don’t even mention dating apps to me please. I swore off them after that last time with the asshole that took us hostage.” “Oh, god. Shit, I’m so sorry for bringing that up, Josh.” “It’s okay. He’s in jail and I’m free.” Josh sighs. “I’m grateful that we have such a great therapist. But tell me, How bold have you Tinder dates been?” “Where to start. There was this one girl that the first thing she asked when she got to the restaurant was if it was going to be at my place or hers, not even a ‘Hi, nice to meet you in person’.” “Gotta admire that she went straight to the point.” “No kidding. Oh, there was this one guy that as soon as he got to the meeting place he wanted to get down to business in an alley.” Buck grimaces, he still remembers how upset the guy got when Buck refused to just drop on his knees and suck him off. “I think that was the worst of them all.” “I’m sorry. Hold on… a guy?” “Yeah, the dude just grabbed my hand and tried to pull me into this disgusting alley.” “Hold on. I don’t want to mislabel or anything, Buck are you… queer?” “Oh, yeah, I’m bisexual. I thought you knew, Maddie never mentioned it?” “How would I know? And no, she never mentioned it.” “But, back when she first invited you for poker night, you said something about her setting us up, I thought you knew.” “I didn’t!” They stay silent for a bit, Buck letting Josh process the news. “Well, let me just say, thank you for telling me.” “It’s not a big deal for me. I don’t really hide it, but I also don’t go around telling people. It’s just part of who I am." “No, yeah, of course I get it.” He can see Josh smiling at him when he takes a quick glance at him. “I’m so dragging you to Pride next year.” Buck laughs at that. “You know what? I’m in, in all my years living here, I’ve never been to the parade.” “Yes! That’s the spirit.” They spent the rest of the drive talking about  Pride and other nonsensical topics. Buck really likes talking with Josh, he’s a bit older than him, but almost everyone else in his life is. He would really like to get to know Josh more outside of the times Maddie invites him to hang out. “Well, this is me. Again, thank you so much for the ride.” Josh says, taking his seat belt off. “Josh, wait a minute.” Buck stops him just as he was opening the door. “What’s the matter?” “So, umm, now I know that you were kind of joking back then on poker night, but uh, what do you say we give it a go?”
I'm going to share a little secret with you... I just wrote all that, took me about an hour xD
That's what I love about these games, they make me write so that I can share stuff.

What about Terry and Mike in the OT3? are they a thing to or do they only agree to share Daniel?
My boy always gets sidelined, and this dynamic gets ignored even more than Labarnes, which is also criminally underrated. I get it, cause Mike and Terry spent most of their screentime separately and with Daniel, in kk3 and ck s5, and so we really don’t have much to go on, unfortunately. But I’m gonna go full meta on this, even if I sound delulu.
So look, Terry says "perfect" like 4 times? And it’s always in reference to Mike. He’s just like me fr.
Tumblr media
Mike is sort of the Johnny to Terry’s Kreese, in a sense? I say this loosely because there’s a sort of fatherly attachment in that dynamic that isn’t present here. Kreese trained Johnny, and so he sort of molded him and contributed to Johnny’s success as a two-time avt champ. Mike came to Terry already a national champion, and going by his reputation as "Karate’s Bad Boy", whoever trained him was either giving him the Cobra Kai kool-aid on steroids, or Mike was just that fucked up naturally lol. And Mike really is perfect because Terry doesn’t need to put any time or effort into him. Mike is just another financial investment, and Terry loves throwing his money around. And Mike even negotiates with him like a boss. He walked in there, not batting an eye at Terry being butt ass naked in a tub, and really said "50% or I walk" and Terry was just like "bet." AND Mike says he wants that shit in writing, and Terry draws up a whole contract with a real lawyer?? Promising 50% of Cobra Kai to this kid??? Mike is honestly so iconic. I said this before, but Mike was pretty much poised to become the face of Cobra Kai. He was supposed to be their champion and their saving grace. They were going to open dojos all over the valley when not if he won. Half of which he’d legally own. So he was basically inheriting Terry’s legacy as well.
was this really necessary sir
Tumblr media
and this
Tumblr media
Granted, Terry has a personal space issue with like everyone, apparently, but still, grabbing his hair? It’s not even like Mike has long hair for him to grab in the first place. And I don’t think you have to practically spit in his mouth to pretend threaten him.💀
literally, why are they standing this way
Tumblr media
just look at the way Daniel and Kreese look at him😭
It’s giving
Tumblr media
And then in s5, Terry burned down Mike’s store, and of course everyone links that to his jealousy over Daniel. But that store was Mike’s father-in-law’s store. So yeah it affected Mike, but it obviously affected his wife much worse lbr. And what did this lead to? Supposedly, Mike’s wife leaving him. So he basically ruined Mike’s marriage the same way he tried to do with Daniel and Amanda. 👀
And okay idc if this is a reach but Mike being on something even "stronger" than alcohol...While Terry confirmed he was on crack back in the 80s.......Remember Daniel's "your ponytailed pimp" line.
Tumblr media
And when he mocks Johnny for being dumb and "attacking me on my own turf" which technically was Mike’s idea, BUT earlier he also said, "Uh oh, fellas, I don’t think this is gonna turn out like you thought it would." only AFTER Mike got knocked out. Because even though they would have still been outnumbered with Mike in the fight, he knew none of his little foot fist ninjas were going to stand a chance against Mike. So Mike is taken out of the fight and just like tossed in another room, which puts him conveniently out of harm's way. It’s not like he was locked in or whatever so I don’t think the major concern here was keeping him from waking up and rejoining the fight.

And btw, Mike’s plan was what ended up saving the day, cause Terry arrived too late to the dojo and was in no condition to fight Daniel. King Shit.💅
Then Terry leaves Chozen for dead in his pool and tells the senseis to pull an mk fatality on Johnny. And Mike? Just let him sleep it off. <33

Terry knew what he was doing. He wanted Mike back by his side on a pretty leash and Daniel on his knees for him.
