being convinced there was a spider in my bed has returned to me after a few months absence. woke up this morning and had to take a good hard look in the mirror in order to go "Oh yeah no spider, you had your thing happening again" (sleep paralysis? unclear. definitely cannot move and then wake up and have to reconfigure myself before sleeping again, but usually do not dispel the notion of "spider in bed" (or the occasional other animal) until the following morning)

but then also dreamed I was killing it at football, so that was nice

anyway, sorry spider, I'd wonder if it had something to do with the phobia, but it happens with other animals too sometimes. can't forget the time it was a horse

Not sure it's ever going to be relevant on here but I want to state that I have two partners -- a qpp who I live with who is not on tumblr at all, and my fiancé, @principaliteas

so if I ever refer to 'my qpp', it's not the same person you see me gay-blogging with on here. @principaliteas and I are not platonic; we're very much in gay-as-fuck romantic love

My qpp and I used to think we were also in romantic love, but we've very recently realized that isn't really the case, and so we've adopted the qpp label for whatever the fuck we've got going on because nothing else really fits

So I'm not really sure if I would still be considered polyamorous? Because I have no intention of becoming romantically involved with anyone else.

I think her name is just Clove.

If you do some digging on the definition of Clove, beyond the spices, it will come up as meaning:

a. To cleave, past tense of cleave

B. to split or sever

I don't think it was unintentional to chose such a name for the girl with knives, who never misses her target. I think that was the root of her name, in choosing it for the series.

I also think the name evokes a sense of sharpness? Clove when it comes off your tongue sounds sharp. It very much sounds like the name of a girl who was born to be a tribute, to be raised in a training academy. It very much sounds like a Victor name.

All that to say, in terms of more..head canon territory, I think her mother named her Clove because of clovers? I head canon as her having a VERY young mother, and there's an innocence in naming your child after what you consider your lucky charm. I would go so far to say she did so intentionally, considering Clove herself to be her like..token of good luck. On that same note, I think being born in D2, Clover is a bit too florally. Clove evokes that sharpness I talked about, that I don't think Clover does. And I think for a young mother, she wanted to give her at least some edge that she would already lack by having such a young mom in such a competitive, intense district. I think she always had hopes of her daughter becoming a victor.

I think her mom called her Clover as a nickname, and she was the only person Clove would allow to do so. Eventually I think Cato did it to taunt her in training, and eventually she stopped arguing with him over it, and just accepted it begrudgingly. He is the only other person than her mom, who gets away with calling her that. At least, without ending up with a knife in their neck.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.

For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.

I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.

#i have to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night to even barely function #with sleep #getting ready for work #commute #cooking #and errands #I typically have maybe 2-3 hours to actually do what i want in a day #and I'm usually too tired to actually do the things i want to do #and that's with a very short commute #if i actually had a long commute I'd basically do nothing but work #i see my friends like once every few weeks or months #because we're all so fucking busy with work and have such little time for socialising #and none of us even have kids or anything!!
