Koihana Bakumeiroku Prologue: Chapter 7
Tumblr media
I do not own any of the Koihana Bakumeiroku content being uploaded on this blog, everything belongs to CYBIRD and Animate. Please support them by playing the game and buying stories. Not 100% accurate, expect mistakes.
read this before interacting with my posts
Rin: Please let me work as a service staff for the Meiji Government!
I nervously bowed my head.
And then, I heard a seemingly pleased voice from above my head.
Kido: I didn't expect you to get back to me this soon.
Kido: Certainly, please lend your support to the Government. … As a service staff, of course.
Rin: ! Thank you very much!
I bowed my head again, and Kido laughed.
Kido: Well then, I just happen to have something I need your help with.
Rin: Sure, I’ll do anything!
Kido: Fufu, I like that response.
Kido: … I need you to help deliver a token of sympathy to a person.
Rin: A token of sympathy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kido: Yes. The place he’s at might be a little shocking, but he’s not a bad person…
Kido: Although, if we're talking about trust, then…
Rin: Huh?
Kido: Nevermind, it’s nothing.
(...?)
Kido: Anyway, please go to the location marked on the map.
Kido: You’re new to Tokyo, so it’s alright if you take your time to make your way there.
I got a few recommendations for places I could go to have a quick bite during my free time, and quickly went on with my delivery task.
Rin: I’ve got the gift, and… I’ve got the hand towel too!
(I wonder if I’ll successfully arrive at my destination. The map is very well-drawn, though.)
(This is my very first task, so I’ll do my best!)
Right when I was about to enthusiastically leave for work—.
???: What are you doing here?
Rin: Huh?
I turned around to see two men standing there.
The man who called out to me had a gentle facial expression, as for the other man…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ Left picture is the angry chihuahua in question.
???: … *angry chihuahua noises* (i suggest you play the game with your sound on)
(Is it just me? Or is he glaring at me…)
Just as I was at a loss for how to respond, the man who called out to me earlier spoke,
???: … Hm? You didn't hear me?
Rin: Huh…? Oh!
(I didn't answer his question!)
Rin: I’m working as a service staff for the government starting from today.
???: A service staff… . This sort of job exists too, I see…
The man nodded in amusement and smiled warmly at me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saigo: My name is Saigo Takamori. I’m a General serving the Meiji Government.
Saigo: So you work for the government. And you're a woman… this is surprising.
(General… that must be a position in the military, right?)
And yet, Saigo’s smile made him seem friendly and approachable.
Rin: My name is Rin. It's nice to meet you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saigo: Yeah, nice to m—
Saigo spoke while reaching out his hand.
(Is he going for a handshake?)
The moment I was about to reach my hand out as well—.
???: Don’t you dare touch him!
Rin: !?
(W-Wh-What…?)
The man standing next to Saigo lost his temper at me out of nowhere.
???: … *angry chihuahua noises 2.0*
He glared threateningly at me.
Saigo sighed at him.
Saigo: Don’t bite everyone you see, Toshiaki. Does this girl look threatening to you?
???: You’re too lenient, Saigo! She might look like this, but you never know if she’s actually a suspicious person!
???: I’ve never heard of such a thing as “service staff”—
He glared at me again, and I desperately tried to explain myself.
Rin: I’m not lying to any of you! I’m really a service staff working for the Meiji Government.
Rin: It was Kido who invited me to work in this position.
???: ! Kido…?
Rin: Yes. Besides… I don’t intend to harm Saigo. Therefore, please don't be so wary of me.
After I was done talking, the man blinked in surprise.
(Perhaps I got too desperate and sounded overly defensive… that was rude of me.)
Saigo: Hahaha!
Rin: !
???: !?
Saigo burst into laughter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saigo: You lost, Toshiaki. You should apologise to her properly.
???: But…
Saigo: Toshiaki.
???: … Fine.
The man unwillingly turned to me.
Tumblr media
Kirino: I’m Lieutenant Kirino Toshiaki. … My bad.
Rin: ! It’s alright…
(... He’s like a guard dog for Saigo.)
But he might get angry again if I said that out loud.
Saigo: Sorry for holding you up. Do you still have errands to run after this?
Rin: Yes. I have to deliver a token of sympathy to someone.
Saigo: Good luck with that. Let’s go, Toshiaki.
Kirino: … Yes.
(That scared me… they’re not bad people, I think?)
Rin: … Right. I have a delivery to make.
Katsu: Oh, Rin. You’re here.
Rin: Katsu?
I ran into Katsu when I left the building.
Katsu: It looks like you accepted the job offer. Say, do you want to have some tea with me later?
Rin: Huh?
(Why is he inviting me for tea…? If it's Katsu we're talking about, he seems to be the type to have many suitors…)
I tilted my head in puzzlement, and Katsu laughed amusingly at my response.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katsu: Still not used to being invited out by a man? Oh well, can’t blame you for that. You’re from the countryside after all.
Katsu: Feel free to come to me whenever you're looking to have some fun.
Katsu slowly inched closer to me and said in a sweet voice.
Rin: Uh…
(What am I thinking…!?)
I was startled, and then I heard him chuckle.
Katsu: Should you be standing around and spacing out like that? Kido already assigned you your first task, didn't he? Be careful out there.
Rin: !
(He’s making fun of me…!)
My face burned from the embarrassment, and I responded with my head lowered.
Rin: I’ll get going now…!
Katsu: Haha, have a safe trip.
Katsu saw me off, and I made my way towards my destination.
Rin: Erm…
(Is this really the place?)
I couldn't mask my surprised face upon seeing the location I had arrived at.
However, according to the map that was given to me, it seemed that I was at the correct location.
(The place I’m supposed to deliver the gift to is... the prison.)

Thanks for the ask!!
3. What were your top five books of the year?
I answered this one here, but I do have a slight update because I did finish a book this morning that changes things. So right now, I think my list would be:
The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams
Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee
A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon
Out by Natsuo Kirino
It Came from the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror edited by Joe Vallese
I finished ICftC today and I really liked a lot of the essays that were included. It gave me a lot to think about.
12. Any books that disappointed you?
There's an answer to this one here (Dangerous Women, an anthology) but I'm adding another one here because I finished it today:
In These Hallowed Halls: A Dark Academia Anthology edited by Marie O'Regan and Paul Kane. Anthologies in general will be really hit or miss, I've found, and I mostly read this to find inspo for ASMLP... there were a couple of real winners in here ("Phobos" by Tori Bovalino, "The Ravages" by Layne Fargo) and I'm interested in those authors to follow their work further (M. L. Rio was in this too and I LOVED If We Were Villains but idk "Weekend At Bertie's" just wasn't my fav?)... that said, a lot of these shorts were a letdown. There was a... interesting one about a professor attending the funerals of four of his students killed in a school shooting he is directly responsible for, and another short where the MC gets really weirdly obsessive over a gay romance between her professor and a fellow classmate, for example. Others had plotlines that were fine but had other issues like the pacing being all over the place or just not being very interesting, or (to me) kinda lacking in substance.
Like I said, anthologies tend to be a mixed bag, this was just... one of the more disappointing I've read imo.
One thing that did kinda tickle me: the last three shorts had an interesting tether. The first had a character named Phoebe. The second was the aforementioned "Phobos", and the final short of the anthology was wrote by a Phoebe Wynne. I just thought it was interesting.
13. What were your least favorite books of the year?
I have a couple of answers, one of which I shared here... but another book that I didn't get along with was Medusa by Rosie Hewlett. Honestly, I figured I wouldn't get along with it from the get go, but I gave it a shot anyway. The basic premise is a retelling of Medusa's myth from "how it really happened" and hot take but this work, like a LOT of retellings, would have been a LOT better as a standalone work. But it relied a lot on the mythos and it annoyed me. It also makes some really weird choices, like making Perseus the One Good Man of the entire book... which is. A choice.
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
I'm going with The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang for this one. I gave their The Black Tides of Heaven books a shot, and it was fine but nothing that really,,, gripped me and made me want to finish the series tbh, so I never did. I saw Misery in the library, though, and decided to give them a second chance. I do have a couple of Big Issues with the book as a whole, but I had a lot of fun reading it in general and it went far in redeeming this author for me so. Yeah I liked this one all things considered.

Lao Tzu's "Destruction of the Ego" 2 (Essay)
Tumblr media
(This is a dialogue between me and a certain woman.)
Real example(Continuing)
Me: Lao Tzu preached, "Only those who have extinguished their ego can be entrusted with the state." but there are certainly few examples of people who have practiced this. In China, Sima Qian, who appears in "Ri Ling" (Atsushi Nakajima), would be applicable. Though he was right,
Touched by the wrath of the absolute monarch Emperor Wu of Han, he was sentenced to be cut his male sex organ, which is harsher than the death penalty, and suffers a harsher life than death.
Even if you are thrown into the pit of despair and your pride as a controversialist is uprooted,
Having accomplished his task (compilation of the "History"), he "disappeared" when he was imprisoned, I can only say that he was forced to do so. However, he did not have much time left to become a politician after that.
In Japan, I think that Kantaro Suzuki, who ended the Pacific War, is doing a good job. While dealing well with the army, which refused to accept defeat, he was evaluated by those around him as ``a dull person,'' but when it comes to emergency, he can only be described as a completely different person. He took it to the end of the war in an unprecedented way. This person was from the navy and was almost killed in the 2.26 Incident. It is said that Suzuki's favorite book was "Lao Tzu". (!)

Takamori Saigo was exiled to an island two or three times, and even tried to commit suicide with a monk named Gessho. Yes, and there were many times when he was on the verge of death. It is appropriate to compare it to an "empty jar" or a "huge bell," and Ryoma Sakamoto said, "If you hit it softly, it will sound softly, and if you hit it hard, it will sound loudly." He must have been a charming man. Saigo must have had an excellent staff officer. It was also bad for him that the chief staff officer at the time of the Seinan War was the mere ``human slayer'' Toshiaki Kirino.
What the above three people have in common is that they have all encountered situations that they cannot do anything about on their own, and have internalized that experience. "None of them are religious persons."

Weekly Vocajournal #23 (12/02 - 19/02)
Some high-profile releases and other releases with surprisng collabs/producer-vsynth combos. But before that, happy birthday KAITO (14/02 or 17/02, depending on who you're asking)!
youtube
Natsuyama Yotsugi - Merry Unbirthday (ft. KAITO)
I was not expecting electroswing with heavy brass parts and dark undertones for KAITO's birthday, but it slaps! His JP and EN voicebanks switch seamlessly between each other (and generally fantastic tuning from what seems to be a first-time KAITO user!), and I'm always a sucker for meta lyrics. Humans are the ones making him sing about birthdays, so is it really him celebrating?
Pinocchio-P - Anonymous M (ft. Hatsune Miku, ARuFa)
Pinocchio-P's meta songs are always a treat! This one revolves around artists who have abandoned Miku for other human singers or themselves, and the lack, and therefore flexibility, of Miku's image. Miku is tuned high and more robotic like those voice changers for TV interviews, which contrasts nicely with ARuFa's natural but dispassionately professional interview questions. Loving the rather stripped-down, wide, and melancholic instrumentals as well.
Ryoko_14 - Chikaku Kashikoshi-ron. Zenpen (ft. Hatsune Miku, Yuzuki Yukari VOICEROID)
My first song from this artist, and man. Detailed electronic composition that pulls you in, sections that are very different in vibes yet come together to tell one cohesive tale. Miku's section and tuning at the beginning reminded me of siinamota a bit, but that went out the window (in the best way) when Yukari came in for the prechorus. Great drop sections. Will be monitoring this producer in the future for sure.
Yunosuke, Kanzaki Iori - YOU (ft. KAFU)
This was not a producer combo I ever considered. I lost touch with Kanzaki Iori after he started singing his own songs, so it's nice to see him around the vsynth scene again (in my feeds at least). It's a more relaxing and melancholic song than Yunosuke's usual, which might be Kanzaki Iori.
Nejishiki, Takapi - PROJECTION (ft. Kagamine Len, KAITO)
I know both of these producers from their Yukari and mainly feminine vocalbank songs, so imagine my surprise seeing both of their names with Len and KAITO! A very bright, cheery idol-type song. Love bob's illustrations as always.
Locust - Adabana (ft. #kzn, flower)
My favorite Locust song as of now. The entire rock composition is catchy, but I particularly like that rapidly panning piano in the beginning and the prechorus. Flower as chorus support is a trend I fully support.
KAITO's Birthday Corner
KarenT KAITO 17th Anniversary Special xfade
KID-P, CrystalP, CieloP - I Skip Love
Kirino Souta - Kimi ni Todoku Tada Hitotsu
SLAVE.V-V-R - The spit thief
Re:nG - Kyuusaikei Dystopia
Matsubi - Bet!!
IMO - Region Dance (ft. KAITO, Megurine Luka)
Kashii Moimi - Sweet for You
yamichrome - Yubisaki ni Kiss
Other Cool Stuff:
ATOLS - Love (ft. Hatsune Miku)
take4its - Coleus (ft. Yuzuki Yukari)
Satou Noco - Tabenokoshi (ft. Gekiyaku)
Kasamura Toota - Reach for the Sky (ft. AI Megpoid)
STEAK - Konpeito-san Kagekiha (ft. POPY)
GLI - Shampoo (ft. Mai)
Hanyuu Maigo - Wo Ai Maiden (ft. Hatsune Miku)
Shirokuma Keshigomu - HERO (ft. KAFU)
Haniwa - Watashi wa Shujinkou Datta Hazu da, no Hazu Datta no da ga, (ft. Zundamon, VOICEPEAK)
YuuyuP - Fukyuu no Hana (ft. Hatsune Miku)

may i ask what books you bought? i am in dire need of good recommendations and really loved what you recommended (A story of Yonosuke!!) x
I'm not sure how helpful my purchases are since they are all written in Japanese but I bought these four:
Tumblr media
So that's Yoru no tani wo iku by Kirino Natsuo, Hizoku by Murata Kiyoko, Shayou by Dazai Osamu and Ookina tori ni sarawarenai you by Kawakami Hiromi. Shayou (The Setting Sun) is the only one available in English I'm afraid. :( It's a great classic though, I recommend reading it if you haven't! It's about the decline of an aristocratic family and Japan's fading glory after the second world war.
The rest haven't been translated to English as far as I'm aware. The field of translated Japanese fiction is sadly quite male-centric even though there are plenty of great and prolific women writers. A couple of Kirino Natsuo's and Kawakami Hiromi's older works have been translated, though, but their back catalogues are much larger than that.
I'll introduce the books just to give people an idea what else goes on in the world of Japanese literature than the constant flow of Murakami Haruki's books haha. These authors are all women in their 60s and 70s.
Yoru no tani wo iku ('moving through the night's valley') is a story about an ageing woman who has to face her traumatic past in the radical communist group the United Red Army that was active in the early 70s. The book is fiction but the group is real. The group was lead by a woman named Nagata Hiroko who had extreme anger issues. Following a police crackdown, the group took shelter in a mountain lodge where a dozen members and a bystander were lynched to death because Nagata didn't like their attitude. There was also a hostage situation at the scene that resulted in the deaths of several police officers before the group members were arrested. The core members were sentenced to death. Following the mountain lodge incident, left wing movements in Japan declined in popularity. It's an interesting piece of political history and a story not often told about women. That's kind of Kirino Natsuo's thing, terrible and often violent stories about women.
Hizoku ('soaring people') is a story about the lives of two elderly women approaching 100 in a remote fishing community. Murata Kiyoko writes about everyday life. I think this story asks if there is a space between life and death or the sky and the ocean.
Ookina tori ni sarawarenai you ('so as not to get caught by a large bird'): I'm still not sure what this book is about to be honest, haha. I bought it for the author. It seems to be a scifi story. Kawakami Hiromi isn't really known for scifi but I'm listening. The back says the story takes place in a future where humans are on the verge of extinction. The synopsis also calls the story a new myth so this may be a story about stories and creation.

Ina11Go Headcanons(trauma edition)
(Trigger Warning, proceed with caution)
(For my Ina11Go Eldritch Raimon Chronicles AU)
•Everyone in Raimon(Go) suffers from PTSD, due to their traumas.
>Tenma walked home to see his mother's dead body, a shot gun in her chest, and his father holding a pistol. Later, he was fortunately arrested, and Tenma ended up in an orphanage that he escaped from.
>Shindou's parents always force him to be this perfect boy, you know what I mean. And they always tell him to stop being a crybaby, it does him no good.
>Tsurugi was raped three times by his aunt, while his parents were abroad for Yuuichi's surgery. After his aunt was arrested, two years later, his parents manipulated and gaslighted him to join Fifth Sector, because of his selflessness to help his brother.
>Shinsuke's parents died in a car accident on his 4th birthday, and he barely managed to make it out alive. His extended family couldn't accept that he lived and his parents didn't, so they always ridiculed him, called him a demon, and always pester him with "I wish you died instead!" or "I wish you're not born!" And it exhausts him.
>Kirino's mother forces her to be a boy, because her mother wanted one, but Kirino was born female. The 2nd year didn't want to, but was threathened by being sold off to some old man if she didn't comply. Kirino secretly wears dresses to comfort herself.
>Aoi was handed over and over to different families, causing her to lose hope in finding a family who'll keep her out of sheer love. So whenever she finds a new friend, she'll be possessive over them, and this typically ends in her friend leaving her because they think she's creepy, when actually she's just scared that they'll get tired of her, so she tries to force this good girl look as much as possible so that her friends won't leave her.
>Hikaru has a lot of issues about himself, mainly because of his last name, or people making him his uncle in their eyes. Even his parents were mad, and they almost killed Hikaru, when they saw him play with a soccer ball. Fortunately, they were arrested, and he ends up in Sun Garden. This was before he moved into Raimon College(my AU's replacement for Raimon Junior High).
>We all know how Kariya ended up being the doubtful, sly prankster he is, but like Aoi, he has his own possessive edge as well. He won't let anybody ruin his family, or take them away from him, by pulling major pranks. Its one of the few times where they can't suspect it's him, because they 'knew' he can't bring his pranks that far.
>Kurama's parents divorced in his first year, mainly because of financial issues, and his father being a drunkard and a womanizer. He stayed in his mother's custody, who wasn't any better; she neglects him, and he often ends up having to cook and feed for himself. He didn't take the whole thing well, and he's actually scared that his friends will leave him if they learn that about him. So, like Aoi and Kariya, he has a possessive edge on his team. He's actually the only one who knows about Kariya's possessive edge, which is why they help each other in shooing or scaring away anyone they deem as a threat to their family.
>Hamano, despite being cheerful and optimistic, is actually nearing suicidal, because of his parents constant fighting and arguing, ending in him being neglected, not cared for, and like Kurama, couln't admit it to his friends, because he didn't want them to treat him any different from how they treat him. He almost suceeded, if it wasn't for another voice nagging him to stay because of Hayami, the one person he's in love with.
>Who, by the way, has anxiety issues, and self esteem issues. Mainly because of his grandparents treating him like a mistake, eversince his parents died due to cancer, and no one would work for money anymore. He was also raped by his cousin, but no one would belive him.
>Midori has anger issues, but that's because of her going into fight or flight mode back then, due to her mother using almost all of the money their father sent from abroad, who died two years ago due to a plane crash, on his way back home. Her mother uses the money on gambling, drinking, and the likes. This causes her to constantly try to knock some sense into her mother, which end up in fist fights, and Midori always wins. Eversince then, her mother ignores her, but does stop the addiction. But Midori knows otherwise;her mother didn't stop.
>Akane's parents always gaslight and ridicule her, saying that she's nothing, she's a mistake, and that she'll never be anything. Well, it's the mother's fault, since she cheated on her husband, and gained unconsented custody of Akane, and moved in with her new boyfriend, who didn't treat her any better. Eversince then, she'd hide her troubles under the gist of her staring, or air-headedness, when it's her actually trying to think of ways to run away, or ask for help.
>Ichino and Aoyama are both staying at Sun Garden, mainly because both of them have abusive parents who use them as punching bags. Aoyama, to be exact, almost commited suicide too, but Ichino caught him in time, and begged him to not go. He didn't let go of Aoyama the whole night, because he had enough of people he loved in his life dying, after his older sister died in a kidnapping, and his younger brother dying of stillbirth.
>Sangoku would always defend his mother from his abusive father, and this ends up in him getting bruises and cuts all over him from being thrown by beer bottles. His father fortunately got arrested, and his mother got a fair salary job, but he sometimes still gets nightmares abour his father's abuse.
>Kurumada's father was widowed, due to his wife dying of tuberculosis. It was Kurumada's breaking point, because he lost his little sister Chichi just two weeks ago before his mother's death. Eversince then, he too, has developed a possessive edge to the team, though not as worse as Aoi's or Kurama's.
>Amagi has been abandoned by his birth parents, so he ends up in his uncle's care, who treated him like a slave, but was saved by his secretly wealthy aunt, who was like his actual mother to him. His birth parents try to convince him to come home or steal money from his aunt, but he declined and shut them off from his life. However, there was a time where he was almost kidnapped by human traffickers, but fortunately, he was saved by his aunt and the police. Turns out, his parents sold him to some shady guy, and was now getting killed for not meeting their end of the deal. He could care less now about then though. However, when Mahoro stopped being his friend, he was still getting over his aunt's death, due to saving him from getting kidnapped again. Right now, he's still planning on trying to get into Sun Garden.

6. 15. 22. || Busy busy busy. . .
Ahhhh I promise I haven’t abandoned my studyblr! I’ve just been so busy with work and life. I’ve finally reached a point where I can calm down and cruise through.
My manager left my store two days ago so we threw a little goodbye; she didn’t leave the company but she is at another store now. I like my current manager; we used to hang out when she was in another store. Now that she’s here I can’t do that heh.
Maintaining a 100% grade in my religion class despite falling behind is nice as well!
N• 8. Do you read? If you do, what are some of your favourites?
In secondary school I fully indulged in literature and have come to love Poe and Shakespeare to the point my speech style used to utilize the language almost. I’m currently reading The Chronicles of Narnia so I enjoy that!! Another favourite is Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino, The Name of The Rose by Umberto Eco. I have read the Assassin’s Creed novels and adored them too!

I was tagged by my darling @lizzy0305
I did something similiar recently but I absolutely don’t mind doing it again and getting into some depth!
Three ships
Snarry (Snape x Harry) - Obviously. Do I even have to mention it? It’s the literal air that I breathe. It’s my soul fuel. Getting into some depth, I wasn’t really aware this ship existed until 2019, when a friend casually mentioned it to me and rec some fics. My life has never been the same since. THE PLOT! THE ANGST! THEIR BURNING CHEMISTRY! THE AMAZING FLEXIBILITY OF THEIR DYNAMICS! THE ENEMIES TO LOVERS TROPE! THE ULTIMATE HARRY POTTER FIX-IT!! Snarry held me up when I was going through the most dreadful of times, made me meet some incredible people and have some really good times. It brought me comfort and joy and some pain too. It’s a mark in me that made me realize just how much I love HP. It made me grow as a person and as a reader and writer.
Remisa (Rem x Misa) -  I define myself by my obsessions, and Death Note was definetly a marking phase for me. I watched Death Note first in 2017 when I had just begun high school. I kind of made a name between my friends AND teachers for being so obsessed with this anime. And amongst it, there was my crippling addiction to the lesbian death godess and her unrequited love story with the goth bimbo. And the musical about it. I am a completely sucker for all that bittersweetness that's so underrated it's criminal. The DN plot literally couldn't exist without them.
Ranmasaki - (Kirino x Kariya) - Before I knew tropes were a thing and didn’t know much english, this was my first enemies to lovers. Inazuma Eleven GO is a very important part of my early life. Those two clicked together so perfectly I remember it being my first yaoi obsession after I got rid of internalized homophobia. A while later, I published my first fanfic ever. It’s so bad I can’t even read it nowadays and I was awfully young (11) to be posting mature content. I don’t think I even fully understood what sex was that time. But it was my first step into becoming a writer. They made my happiest memories while I was going through hell as a middle schooler and take great part in my history.
First ever ship
I mean I shipped a lot of Disney tragic couples as an infant, but when I actually understood shipping and yaoi and fandom stuff, my first ship was Gouenji x Fubuki from Inazuma Eleven. Again, IE is my childhood. And I realized I loved it when I first read a comic dub in youtube. That led to me getting into yaoi anime. And I was a homophobic kid by association at that time. You must imagine my shock when I figured I liked a gay couple. This ship made me a very confused 10 year old and some time later and got me out of church.
Last Song
I was vacuuming the house to a Demi Lovato playlist. Last one was Warrior.
Last Film
Haven’t watched anything after My Policeman.
Currently Reading
Loveless by Alice Oseman. But not really. I just read a few chapters and completely forgot I was reading it :’)
Currently Consuming
Pão de queijo (a brazilian iguary) with cream cheese and mango juice.
Currently Craving
Minecraft. I am obsessed.
I’m tagging @mrviran, @icarus-aetius and @danpuff-ao3 ❤️️❤️️

Novel recs?
Sleep With Me by Joanna Briscoe – I was lukewarm about the actual story, but absolutely obsessed with the author's tone. I found the writing style evocative and a little bit creepy, and I enjoyed her word choices immensely (because of this novel I started a list on my Notes app called beautiful words, to collect pretty phrases).
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke – I imagine this is what the Harry Potter series would have been like if it were written for adults, but that's kind of reductive because this was a masterpiece in its own right. Humorous and dark, incredible world-building, and delightfully English.
Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino – Japanese authors and thrillers: name a better combo. Generally novels (and songs) translated from Asian languages tend to provide unique imagery and fascinating viewpoints. I also love in-depth character studies, and this was that.
Essays in Love by Alain de Botton – Non-fiction, but great for life. Recommended reading for anyone hoping to understand love and all of its glorious complexities... and how wonderful and terrible it is.
Thanks for asking, anon!

"Ughhhhh, not another stupid, smelly police officer like that donut-loving chick." Nobunaga says before she turns and shoots an innocent into a nearby Subway's. "There, eat fresh, maybe it'll improve how ugly your face is."
What the other was doing clearly was against the law of the city-- a lack of respect for the law she was familiar with herself. The innocent was shot in front of her. Luckily Kirino wasn’t present or she would have fainted in front of the two.
“...So you’re the so-called demon that Kirino met.“
Anyone else who was around started to panic and run. Naona however, she wanted to deal with Nobunaga herself. The city was full of surveillance camera’s that ended up being seen by the people back at her office so she didn’t have to worry about it. And as annoyed as she was seeing the other shot a innocent bystander, her life as a soldier during a war made her all too used to seeing the innocent get hurt or die, so seeing someone shot to her was something she would immediately freak out.
Was the innocent fine or at least alive and breathing? She did not know, nor does she want to risk it happening to others So with a glare at the one named Nobunaga, Naona speaks up.
Tumblr media
“Well then...Nobunaga, was it? Would you care to explain why you needlessly shot them?“

Heya heya, me again
I actually decided to complain here again (omg, my life is so sad boohoo) actually about several things (forgot for a moment but remember again), so first thing first, let's get started
⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ contains IE spoilers, my personal opinion, outbursts of emotionally unstable childish being, and more type of shit u definitely (don't) need in your happy life
1) some of u may know, I've watched Chrono stone (unexpectedly, I continued with Galaxy - which I still haven't finished hehe)
Anyways, I've always shipped Shindou with Kirino (cuz it felt fuckin right) and when I saw posts/fics/ whatever Shindou x someone else, I told myself - what a bunch of losers, they know nothing about what's good and what's not.
BUT. Galaxy (ep. 15-17, approx.) there was that one moment between Shindou and Ibuki (actually, there have been more, they are enemies to lovers material - at least from Shindou's perspective, idk if he had hated him for real or he just pretended?check for yourself hehe)
So I actually started to understand why the hell do people ship them.
But I've read a fic supporting Ibuki/Shindou and Kirino was sorta third wheel (poor Kirino 😭)
Conclusion ( there's none :/): I DON'T FUCKIN KNOW WHAT THE FUCK SHOULD I DO OR DO NOT AND IF I SHOULD KEEP SUPPORTING RANTAKU OR START SHIPPING SHINDOU WITH IBUKI, AAAAAAA!!!!
I realize it's silly, but let me be, I have every right to cry about anime for little kids!
2) AO3: I have an AO3 account (surprise!) My name's 'lilacsugarcookie' , so u can check out that shit I posted there.
So yeah, have a nice rest of... whatever time is at yours and stay safe
Do you know that feeling when you have an idea, brilliant idea, it stays few days in your head, until you finally manage to write it down and after few more days u realize it was completely stupid and pathetic or just not interesting at all and u eventually abandon it?
Anyways the point is, most of the works I have there aren't finished (not to mention I have a next ton already in my head) and I can manage to continue working on them at all.
Cuz I did (multiple times) and I want to regain the motivation to continue (or at least to find someone here, who'll support me 👉👈🥺)
Also respond, otherwise I'll eat your hamster u loos-

3, 17, 25 for the book questions!
What was your average Goodreads rating? Does it seem accurate?
I think it was probably about 3? I was reading a lot of litfic folk horror and trying to work out what would be good and what would be meh was hard, most of what I read probably landed a three, there were definitely exceptions and a lot of 4s, a couple 5s too (natsuo kirino - out, The Story of a New Name - Elena Ferrante) but for the most part it was 3s
It sort of feels not accurate though I'm sure I enjoyed other books loads???
Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
For basically the first time in my whole life I read a non fiction book, it was about Jonestown and honestly it was really good. I'm always suss of anything true crime or about those kinds of things because often they're done in bad faith and with little empathy, this though was more litficy so it told the story using the facts, but also using empathy, you cared so much for all the people you were reading about and also it was written in such a way as to ask how it happened, how we can stop it happening again etc... It was called the road to Jonestown I think. I learnt so much.
Erica Jong fear of flying was class too and like entirely because people have always told me that I was expecting to be disappointed and then was crazy pleasantly surprised.
Also Pine - Francine Toon I was expecting that to be shite for teenagers but it was honestly really good, I devoured it.
What reading goals do you have for next year?
I think I want to try and get back into reading again tbh, I stopped half way through the year. When I was ill I was reading so much every day for want of something to concentrate on, then when they put me on the meds I lost motivation to do anything, that's a motivation I still haven't really gotten back. Need to find my way back to it one book at a time and without the unhealthy motivation this time.

Mission 1: Treasure Hunting
Decker: Someone with a camera snaps pictures of Kanata and Kirino on patrol, Kirino is annoyed by Kanata being lethargic. The girl with the camera gives Kanata a picture of himself holding the D-Flasher, and tells him he's Ultraman, promising to keep his secret if he competes against her father. In their humble home, her father is explained to be a famous martial artist across the universe known as Grace, until being trapped by the Spheres, but he admonishes Mika for the blackmail and destroys the picture. He'd come to earth to challenge the Ultra-Ancient Giant of Light as a last hurrah only to find earth peaceful when he arrived, and apologises for Mika. Kanata leaves telling Mika he respects her father, but cannot lend him Ultraman's power, Grace watches him leave but clutches his chest. Asanaga is explaining plans to properly test GUTS Gryphon once the Hawk is out of maintenance, an alert informs them of Red King rampaging in Natsumi City. Murahoshi orders Ryumon to fly GUTS Falcon while Kanata and Kirino assist evacuation. When Red King throws a building near the evacuees, Kanata summons Windom to hold the Kaiju off. Mika begs her father to take action and he summons his ring, transforming into Grace, initially doing well before being incapacitated by chest pains, GUTS-Select manages to stun it giving him the chance to fight it off, but he can't chase when it tunnels away, but the crowds cheer his name once more. Murahoshi thanks Grace personally, and seeing Mika's earnest desire to see her father in the ring again, shocks everyone by agreeing to be a challenge for him, as well as testing GUTS Gryphon. After lengthy training Murahoshi takes Kanata to by food for the team, spotting Mika, and discovering the food she's got is cheap free scraps, insists on cooking for the, instead. After Mika is in bed they cleanup, and Grace has another attack, explaining his fighting is catching up with him, he doesn't have much time left but wants to make her proud, and insists they not hold back tomorrow. Kanata is unsure if they should go ahead, but Murahoshi believes they should protect small happiness as much as bigger ones. Grave is faces by Kanata, Kirino and Ryumon on the ground with guns, Murahoshi in GUTS Hawk, Hanejiro in GUTS Gryphon, and Kaizaki and Asanaga in Nursedessei. The match is interrupted by the appearance of now Sphere-Red King. With some prompting from Hanejiro, Kanata becomes Decker, and signals the team to keep the match going while he handles things. The battle doesn't go well though despite using Strong-type, and Grace decides to concede so he can help him fight, GUTS-Select join, Murahoshi and Hanejiro combine GUTS Gryphon, but can't hit with the Hyper Thorn Laser due to Sphere-Red King holding Decker, Grace pushes him aside and holds Sphere-Red King, calling them to shoot, which they do, but Decker switches to Miracle-type, and initiating a Triple Mons Scram to have them pull Grace away from the attack. Mika is scared as her father collapses at her feet. Seeing the success of the Hyper Thorn Laser against Spheres, Asanaga is confident it can be equipped to the TPU's new robot, DG001. Murahoshi arranges TPU care for Grace, and privately tells Kanata there may be others trapped on earth by the Spheres they need to rung the Sky back for.
Geats: Keiwa tries to ask his sister about the monsters, but she thinks he was dreaming, and is now a fan of Ukiyo Ace, Star of the Stars of the Stars, beloved by many. As the DGP host presents him his belt again, she confirms that despite winning and getting the world where he's a superstar, he doesn't seem happy, which he denies, but notes there seems to be a limit to the kind of world they can create. Keiwa tests his Desire Driver and ID Core, and is with many others pulled to the arena, where Tsumuri welcomes everyone to the Desire Grand Prix, claiming their world os under threat from the Jyamato, and that they have no idea of where they come from or what they want, and created the Desire Grand Prix time fight them, memories reset after each competition, only those who receive ID Cores will remember. She asks each to write down the Desire they want now, before the game starts. The participants are put in a Jyamar area, and given the first mission, a treasure hunt, acquiring items from Jyamato. One guy refuses to team with Neon, but another agrees to as they start fighting. Ace quickly gets Water, testing out Geats Armed Water but unimpressed with the pressure and instead uses it for melee. Azuma doesn't intend to let him keep a lead. Keiwa is helped by another, who gets Arrow, Keiwa finds Boost, and is offering it to him when he recognises him as Taira, who rejected him for the position. He still put World Peace on his wish, Taira meanwhile seeks to save his son from an incurable illness. The DGP butler shows them to the lounge as they acquired items, Neon is already there, the two properly introducing, as is Azuma, noting they are now Tycoon and Na-Go. Ace arrives late with Shield as well, which Azuma mocks, to another's concern, who tries to trade his Shield for Magnum from the guy who refused Neon. A sudden alert informs that the Chief Jyamato has appeared, and so all without items are eliminated, leaving just those 7 to clear and move on. Also turns out Kamen Riders stay dead if killed. Tsumuri throws everyone into the field after auto henshining them, Neon's partner Koganeya Morio is Mary, Neon is Na-Go, Keiwa is Tycoon, Azuma is Buffa, the loner, Sumida Kanato is Da-Paan, Ace is Geats and Taira is Ginpen. As battle begins we get Mary Armed Shield, Na-Go Armed Hammer, Ginpen Armed Arrow, Da-Paan uses Armed Magnum, Buffa again has Armed Zombie, and Geats is using Armed Water. Tycoon doesn't understand how they can start fighting so easily, finding Taira's family photo as he is being overwhelmed, and watches the man be defeated. As Keiwa holds him, Taira's last words are regret for not being able to save his son. As Keiwa looks at the picture, Ace takes a moment to tell him if you want to change the world you have to fight, and claims to fight for the sake of the future of children, before leaping into battle. Keiwa tries to find his resolve, only for Ace to ask for the Boost item for the sake of the future, fight as Geats Boost Armed Water, then after more fighting Revolves for the finish. After he thanks Keiwa for believing his lie so he'd give him the Boost Buckle, Keiwa tries to snatch it back, but it flies off again. The game will continue when the Jyamato next appear, Keiwa taking a moment to ask if those lost in the DGP can be wished back, and finding a new resolve, as a doctor informs Taira's wife that they received an anonymous donation for their son's surgery from a certain nameless fox.
Donbrothers: InuBrother is helping the current Hitotsu-ki run with a painting, and is confronted by the other Donbrothers, and prepares to fight. Earlier Inuzaka was chased by cops, got away, the two discussing Sayama resigning, Inuzaka is then approached by Ijuuin Mizuho. She wants to be a Phantom Thief, and essentially blackmail Inuzaka into helping, she wants to steal the painting "Himitsu" by the late Aota Takeo, so single minded she becomes KagakuKi, Inuzaka changes, but notices she resists attacking people. She wants it because it was of her, and Takeo intended her to have it, but it was stolen. When word of it being put up for auction comes out, she plans to simply buy it, Kaito meanwhile asks Saruhara and Haruka to attend to buy it for Donbura, and Kijino is also there with his boss to buy for the president. As the auctioning picks up, Mizuho relefects on her relationship with Takeo modelling for him, eventually offering an exorbitant amount, but whennshe presents payment to the owner, Sano, Takeo's pupil, it is fake, and she grabs Inuzaka and the painting as KagakuKi to flee. When they're away, she insists it was a forgery. Sano requests Haruka and Saruhara guard the true "Himitsu" after getting a warning letter, claiming the imitation was sent by accident, and also asking Haruka to model for him. Thanks to InuBrother KagakuKi grabs the painting and runs, the others giving chase, leading back to the beginning. InuBrother gets the painting, but DonMomotaro and the just arrived Torabolt finish KagakuKi, forcing a team up on KagakuKing. Don Onitaijin and ToraDragonJin combine into ToraDora Onitaijin, uniting to defeat her. Mizuho burns the painting as Takeo had requested, deeming it a failure, but Inuzaka disagrees, feeling the man just didn't think his painting could capture his love, the secret being how much he loved her. Haruka present Kaito the painting of herself, he doesn't like it.
Girls Remix: Despite everything, Hana is still disheartened that Yuriko wasn't her sister, but Kanon and Sawa's explanation, that Kuroi Yuriko was kidnapped as a child by Black Satan, makes Hana understand that they're the same, victims of childhood kidnapping and indoctrination by evil organisations they came to believe in whole heartedly. Miss Titan tries to claim the moral highground, taking girls with no homes and raising them, but everyone points out that the brainwashing chips makes this evil, while Miss Titan believes in Black Satan fully after a Satan Bug possessed her when she had lost everything. As the guards become Black Satan Soldiers, Hana refuses to join them or accept their treatment of the other girls, and so Kamen Riders Jeanne, Aguilera, Sabela, Zero-Two and Poppy step forward, each fighting showing their own skills. Apparently Makoto is feeling overprotective and hid the Kanon Spectre Eyecon, but that doesn't stop Kanon, Sawa and Akiko handling some troops too. Miss Titan starts fighting Jeanne and Sabela, while Aguilera tries to handle Black Tackle, after being hit by finishers Miss Titan takes on a Hyakume Titan form. The civilians celebrate their work, and are joined by Lovekov, when more troops appear they are saved by the sudden arrival of the Faiz Phone X wielding, future resistance warrior reincarnated in the present day, Tsukuyomi Alpina. In universe it's been about 3 years since we past saw her, since she was still in school in 7 Zi-Os. She becomes Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi and joins the fray. Villains are defeated, but Black Tackle is still overpowering Aguilera, telling her to have the family she wants by joining them, but Aguilera knows now what a real family is like from the Igarishi's, and can't leave Yuriko like this, charging her with Lovekov. Seeing Black Tackle is losing, Miss Titan orders her to use the last resort, the Ultra Cyclone. Despite accepting her death she tells Hana she enjoyed having her as a sister for a moment, but they aren't having especially seeing Miss Titan throw her aside, so Jeanne grabs Black Tackle and Aguilera Rider Kicks the helmet to break it and stop the Ultra Cyclone. The riders unite to defeat Miss Titan, after which Rinko arrives to arrest Fujimoto Mitsuko, her true identity. Hana and Sakura tell Yuriko she is free, Hana promising to be there for her sister if she needs her, and the three share a hug. Sawa's article was a big hit, and her publisher arranges a photoshoot with the girls focusing on strong women, where Hana makes a bashful and totally unnecessary apology for her behaviour early on. After the photoshoot Hana and Sakura argue over which of them would be the Oneesan.
Futo PI: A bomb cyclone hit Futo while Shotaro and Phillip were gathering mushrooms in the mountains. At the agency, Mick has taken a liking to Tokime, and Terui is there wanting to share intel after Mihara was murdered, fearing a new threat is blooming. Stranded as they are, Shotaro and Phillip are found by a woman who leads them to a warm mansion, and goes to request the owner allow them sanctuary until the blizzard is over. She asks they tell no one they've seen her face, then later leads them to a room where a social gathering is taking place, everyone within is masked. The old woman, Kagamino Kiku is trying to select from the 4 beautiful masked women a suitable bride for her grandson, Kagamino Kuya, which is shared after Shotaro notes the oddness of the situation. The area, Kiritoshi, used to be a popular gold mining hot springs area, but is largely abandoned now save for the family and their fortune, the masks are to ensure the bride is chosen for personality not looks. They're allowed shelter, meaning between Kuya and Kiku, the 4 bride candidates, Shotaro, Phillip, the butler and a not present guest of Kiku's, 10 people total in the Manor. The two are given masks as well. As they eat a generous meal, Phillip is deflated to find they're being served mushrooms of the sort they were stranded finding. They meets the last guest, art dealer Kanamori Daisuke, in truth Bando, somewhat troubled to find himself trapped in the same place as the Kamen Riders. A restless Shotaro finds the girl who saved them, who suddenly tells him she's Kubokura Kanna and doesn't care about marrying anymore, asking him to save her, before, suddenly running off. Shotaro runs outside, finding one of the candidates in a kimono impaled on a tree, and a Dopant glad one candidate is out of the way. Vat ans Stav save him from an attack as Phillip turns up, and they become W. Their attacks do nothing, the Dopant revelling in pleasure and spraying light at them, and W switches to HeatJoker, as Phillip determines the Memory is Alcohol. They ignite the Dopant, but it keeps attacking, alcohol numbing the pain, before it runs back to the mansion. Next day they request permission to investigate and, away room Kuya's eyes, the identities of the remaining candidates. The butler is Kimura Tadashi, the victim, Zaizen Koyomi, was an apprentice geisha, in a cheongsam is Nanba Kurumi, a hospitality expert, in the black dress is Arito Kei, a gravure idol, while Kurokawa is an office worker, and he wonders what it was she was warning him about.

FEATURE: 7 Surefire Ways To Spot A Dracula — Anime Edition
Ever since Bram Stoker published his landmark non-fiction text, Dracula, in 1897 and alerted the modern world to the presence of the hungry nightwalkers in our midst, the public has grown increasingly interested in identifying the noxious Nosferatu who walk among us, even going so far as to name May 26th of each year as World Dracula Day.
In order to raise public awareness, I (with the aid of consulting physician Dr. Acula Alucard) have compiled a handy reference to help viewers determine whether their favorite anime have been infiltrated by vampires. With no further ado, we present a bullet-proof, seven-point guide on How To Spot A Dracula — Anime Edition.
  Fangs
Tumblr media
In order to feed their monstrous thirsts, your average Dracula needs some sort of sharpened implement to pierce the lovely, lovely veins of their unsuspecting victims. This most commonly manifests in the form of pronounced canine teeth, as demonstrated above by the character of Kirino Kosaka from Oreimo, whose chances of being a Dracula are thus extremely high. A note of caution, gentle readers: sometimes these fangs can be retractable. Trust no one!
  Bizarre Fashion Sense
Tumblr media
It goes without saying that vampires have risen from their eternal sleep, and with no natural life spans, many Draculas can prolong their accursed existences indefinitely. This property is often a major giveaway because long-lived vampires tend to grow entrenched in their habits and develop tastes for fancy, flamboyant, and outdated clothing styles.
Just look at Marin Kitagawa (above) from My Dress-Up Darling. Doesn't that outfit just scream “slave of the night?” Dracula tendency: 99.3 percent!
  Sleeps In A Coffin
Tumblr media
Everyone knows that a Dracula has to sleep in a coffin lined with soil from their native land. That's just science. But don't get it twisted, dear readers. Merely sleeping in a coffin alone is not a foolproof indication of Dracula infiltration. For example, you'll notice that Sophie Twilight from the alarmingly named Ms. Vampire who lives in my neighborhood. TV anime sleeps in a coffin stuffed with dakimakura hug pillows, and no self-respecting succubi would ever be caught doing that, right?
RELATED: The 5 Most Loved And Hated Vampires In Anime
  Summons Bats, Wolves, Etc
Tumblr media
“The children of the night! What music they make!” Draculas frequently demonstrate an uncanny ability to control and communicate with bats, wolves, armadillos, and other often unfairly maligned mammals. However, no matter how Gothic their animal magnetism might be, no reasonable person ever would categorize hippos, giraffes, and flamingos as “children of the night,” and so Mai Vlad Transylvania (above) from VLAD LOVE is thus officially cleared of any suspicion of fraternizing with the supernatural.
  No Reflection In A Mirror
Tumblr media
Perhaps the easiest way to spot a Dracula is through the use of reflective surfaces, as vampires are traditionally incapable of seeing themselves in mirrors. This may lead readers to wonder: How can so many Draculas have such perfect hair and make-up? (The answer: Renfield’s major in cosmetology. Get yourself a Renfield.) Since Hikari Takanashi (above) from Interviews with Monster Girls casts a reflection, her likelihood of being a Dracula in disguise is minimized.
RELATED: Anime's Top 10 Vampires Of All Time!
  Vulnerability To Sunlight
Tumblr media
In general, the greatest threat to a Dracula's existence is nourishing, wholesome sunlight. Some Draculas turn to ash when exposed to the happy rays of Mr. Sun. Others rot, or explode, or in some cases, their unholy powers are severely diminished. As a result, it's safe to say that if you see someone walking around in the daytime – or sporting a nice tan like Youko Shiragami (above) from Actually, I Am — then chances are good that they are not, in fact, a Dracula.
  Thirst
Tumblr media
“I never drink … coffee.” No, there is only one delicious liquid that can slake the thirst of the irrepressible anime Dracula, and that is innocent, human blood! While catching a Dracula red-handed (and red-mouthed, honestly) in the process of feeding is a sure-fire way to identify the Gothic lifestyle of a member of the restless, sometimes it's enough evidence for them merely to express an interest in the viscous red liquid belonging to someone else. When Mio from Nichijou – My Ordinary Life demands to know the color of Yuko's blood, she's expressing dangerously Dracula-like tendencies. Any reasonable individual would be breaking out the garlic and the wooden stakes, just to be on the safe side.
Tumblr media
And there you have it, dear readers, a definitive guide to determining whether or not your favorite anime characters are, in fact, Draculas. Follow the above tips closely and you may just avoid finding a pair of unwelcome fangs in your neck. Vigilance in the face of vampirism is a never-ending duty, and as surely as the day follows the darkest night, it's clear that the anime medium is absolutely crawling with Draculas.
Which anime characters do you suspect of secretly being Draculas? Let us know in the comments section below, and be sure to have a safe and vampire-free World Dracula Day. Now, if you'll excuse me I have to take an appointment with a mysterious Eastern European aristocrat who wishes to purchase some property in London ...

WIP of a fantasy AU RanTaku that came into my head while writing. Probably gonna crop the image in post but this is it for now.
Btw - I’m new here in the Inazuma Eleven Go fandom after a much prolonged absence of about...hmmm, four(?) years. It’s so nice to return here seeing people still enthusiastic about Go even after all this time :0 I was a mere lurker back in the day and didn’t realise I could’ve started a blog dedicated to IEG.
I’ve started my fantasy AU on AO3 but I won’t promote it here until I get to the good bits aka these two boys get introduced. It’s early days for the fic anyway. I originally wrote the fic on FFN back in 2016 (last updated in 2017 after not posting on it for a year) and I wanted to reboot it with the new knowledge of writing I’ve gained.
Anyway I hope you guys accept me into the fandom :) even if my blog isn’t IEG-centric. I mainly post about Pokémon, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken and The Dark Crystal among other things I’m interested in at the time. IEG has sorta been filling my dash recently tho
