western countries will drive their own blue collar workers out of the country by creating abysmal working and living conditions, and then perform an elaborate human trafficking scheme by bringing workers from third world countries that they'll pay dirt and treat worse than animals

The existence of Ingo’s alpha fight means that at some point, Ingo waltzed into Jubilife Village followed by three enormous, towering monsters. And the entire village was like “yeah this is fine, he probably knows what he’s doing” lmao Also note that his alphas all have red eyes. That means he didn’t even catch them, they’re still wild. This man somehow convinced a bunch of wild alphas to fight for him just by talking to them nicely

Rereading aftg and being reminded that Neil and Andrew’s relationship has such QPR vibes to me for some reason
it’s something about building from the ground up with no set assumptions or expectations. choosing to exist together romantically and sexually but also as a Something Else that is just as important to them
something about the way that their relationship doesn’t fit into “conventional” boxes and never will, and how unapologetic they are about it
how they’ve probably spent hours sitting together in silence. Not touching or talking, just breathing and existing next to each other
how they express their care for each other through actions, rather than words
how they don’t say “I love you” to each other, because love has always been turned against them as a weapon and this is safe, their relationship is not something that chains them to places where they’re hurt. How they care about each other so fiercely and choose to stand together even though they’re capable of standing alone.
Idk their relationship is very special to me and I know it’s romantic but it has Very QPR vibes to Me Specifically and that is v special for my little aroace spec heart okay

Ryne and Gaia are like. Such good parallels and foils to each other it makes me just a little insane.
Like Ryne is sweet and caring and she always wants to help others and make them feel better even to the detriment of herself because she has seen and known suffering and doesn't want others to have to live like that too. If she can make someones life better, even if just a little bit, then she will. But she also puts everyone elses well-being and feelings so far above her own that she often ends up trying to help in a way that doesn't actually solve anything because it still ends up with someone hurt (such as trying to properly fuse with Minfilia knowing it might end up with herself disappearing). She's not a doormat, but she does have some people-pleasing tendencies.
Gaia, however, is the exact opposite. She's prickly and sarcastic and thinks of herself and her needs first and foremost, everyone else is secondary. It's not that she's cold or uncaring, she doesn't ignore people's problems, she just doesn't see them as her business most of the time (A product of being raised in Eulemore most likely). She doesn't consider the long-term outcome of what she does or says, she lives solely in the present and the future is a problem for when it happens.
These opposite traits also play into each other. Ryne inspires Gaia to care more about others and Gaia inspires Ryne to prioritize herself more. Gaia makes Ryne live more on the moment without thinking solely of what the future will bring, and Ryne makes Gaia think more on what her life will be going forward and to actually consider what she does and says and how that affects things. They feed into each others good traits (Ryne's caring nature and Gaia's sense of self) while also helping them deal with the bad traits (Ryne's people-pleasing and Gaia's aloofness).
Their pasts are good paralells too. Ryne was isolated and lonely until Thancred took her away but even then, he was distant and emotionally neglectful, so she ended up lonely in an entirely different way. Gaia had a family and caretakers that she wasn't particularly close to, but after the 'Fairy' started talking to her they got even further away until she couldn't even remember them, and the 'Fairy' was the closest thing she had to a friend even though it was what isolated her to begin with. Ryne had constant companionship but no support, and Gaia had 'support' but no companionship.
Even just. Regarding the whole identities thing they are just. Perfect. Ryne has lived with Minfilia's shadow on her shoulder her entire life and never got to learn who she actually is. She thought that she had to become Minfilia for her life to be worth anything, that it's the only way her existance is justified. The person closest to both her and Minfilia(Thancred) indicated(in her mind at least) that he wanted Minfilia to be here in Ryne's stead(which wasn't really the case but she didn't know that). The only way to get her out of that shadow was to remove her from the identity of Minfilia, hence why her new name is so important(as well as the hair and eyes being her natural colors instead of Minfilia's all too recognizable ones).
But Gaia didn't even know about Mitron or Loghrif until Eden. She had the 'Fairy', but to her it was just some voice in her head which was nice enough to her. To her, Loghrif is just some lady Mitron loved, she has no real connection to her. She has a connection to Mitron, both as the 'Fairy' and as remnant feelings from Loghrif, but none to Loghrif herself(aside from the obvious reincarnation stuff). Gaia has always been her name. It may have been Loghrif's originally, but she is so far removed from that identity that even for all of Mitron's effort to 'return' her to Loghrif, it'd never work. Loghrif is Gaia, but Gaia is not Loghrif. Simple as that.
Eden's story works so well because Ryne and Gaia are opposites in that specific way that compliments each other, rather than pits them against each other.

every byler creator who has ever felt unappreciated or has never seen their work on a rec list or has stayed awake for hours working on something for it to get no interaction or has had their work passed up in favor of the big fandom favorites or has never been taken a chance on or has ever come last in a poll they didn’t ask to be on or has felt self conscious about posting or about calling themselves a creator if what they’re posting is not a magnum opus or has created something for themselves and still hoped deep down that people would love it: get behind me. i’ll protect u

Forgive me if I'm a bit nervous about Gorgug this season. It's just that the last Zac Oyama pc was Colin Provolone, who was arguably one of his greatest D20 performances, if not the greatest.
Zac always does great with every pc he plays, but Colin was something else. He came out swinging with actions and words that were teeming with unspoken emotional baggage. The way Colin's presence affected the other pcs; there was this level of depth that I don't think I've seen in any of his other characters. It was understated and quiet in that signature "just a guy" way that he tends to be, while still captivating everyone instantly with just how raw it was.
Not to say we haven't seen emotional depth in Gorgug. It's just that, compared to the other Bad Kids, Gorgug's journey and progression as a character has been very... impersonal? Like, yes, he found his birth parents, and he found friends who appreciate him, and he faced his insecurities about his intelligence, and he navigated relationship troubles, and his trial through the claustrophobic bug-tunnels was a horrifically-uncanny parallel to how he's spent his entire life trying to make himself as small as possible.
But how much of that has actually changed him from the Gorgug we started with? I would agree that he's definitely happier with his life, given all the loving and supportive people that have been added to it when it used to be just him and his parents. And he's certainly grown into himself and become more self-assured in his abilities, even if he's still, and always will be, our anxious little guy. And there's nothing wrong with that. I've always liked how Gorgug was a representation of all the little things. The subtle acts and kindnesses that don't seem like much to most, but to some are everything.
We don't need another Bad Kid living in fear that their mouth could be shit-in at any moment. We've already got one-too-many.
All that being said, I just feel like Gorgug's personal story beats are much easier to sweep under the rug than everyone else's. He has the same soft and understated quality that Colin held, but they lack that extra oomph that pushed Colin over the edge from being just another guy in a series of dudes, to a character that the vast majority of us could not get out of our heads. He took someone who was anxious and softspoken, who ultimately never wanted to be violent— someone who is remarkably similar to Gorgug in many ways— and maintained that demeanor and core in Colin's character while still hitting us in the feels with character development at max velocity at every turn.
I think Zac gets better and better at this with every season that goes by. With each new character, there is always something that leaves me stunned in awe. And it's been, what, three? Four years since we last saw Gorgug?
I'm just,,, I'm cautiously optimistic but also going into a bit of a worry about what violence this man may inflict upon us

just thinking about the "xue yang never cared about xiao xingchen he doesn't have real feelings and just thinks of him as a toy" take again and @ameliarating pointed something out to me namely:
Xue Yang broke into peals of laughter. "Wei-qianbei, you're merciless!"
"Fine, laugh. Even if you laugh yourself to death, Xiao Xingchen's soul will still be too broken to put back together. He found you repulsive, yet you still insist on dragging him back so that you can play games with him."
Abruptly, Xue Yang swung from laughter into rage. "Who wants to play games?!"
"Then why did you kneel in front of me and beg me to fix his soul for you?"
Of course, someone as clever as Xue Yang must have been aware that Wei Wuxian was trying to bait him. First, distracting him with anger, and second, provoking him into shouting, Wei Wuxian made it possible for Lan Wangji to deduce his location and strike. But still, Xue Yang couldn't help replying. "Why? Hah! As if you don't know. I want to turn him into a fierce corpse - under my control! Didn't he want to be a pure, virtuous cultivator? Then I'll make him endlessly slaughter people, so he'll never find peace!"
"Ah? You hate him that much? Then why did you kill Chang Ping?"
Xue Yang sneered. "Why did I kill Chang Ping? Do you need to ask, Yiling Patriarch? Didn't I already tell you? I said I was going to kill the entire Yueyang Chang Clan - I wasn't even going to spare one dog!"
[...] Wei Wuxian said, "You sure came up with a good explanation. Too bad the timing doesn't match up. Someone like you, who can't even let a dirty look go without avenging yourself a thousand times over, someone who strikes so swiftly and ruthlessly - if someone like you really wanted to kill off an entire family, why would they wait so many years to finish? You know perfectly well why you killed Chang Ping."
"Then tell me, what do I know? What do I know perfectly well?!"
He shouted this last sentence.
"You killed them, yes. But why lingchi? Killing someone that way signifies that it was punishment. If you were only getting revenge for yourself, why did you use Shuanghua and not your own Jiangzai? Why did you have to dig out Chang Ping's eyes and make him like Xiao Xingchen?"
Xue Yang shouted himself hoarse. "Bullshit! It's all bullshit! It was revenge - was I supposed to let him die comfortably?"
"Indeed, it was revenge. But whose revenge were you seeking? How ridiculous. If you genuinely wanted revenge, you should have sliced yourself into pieces!" (MDZS, Chapter 42)
so if we're meant to buy that interpretation, then...what is the point of this passage? what is it trying to say? is it just to give Wei Wuxian a means of distracting Xue Yang and making him show himself? then why this means? and why are we taking the line that Xue Yang himself, a famously reliable narrator (?) gives (re: wanting to turn Xiao Xingchen into a fierce corpse and control him) as the truth of the situation, as opposed to Wei Wuxian's own interpretation (where Xue Yang is taking revenge on Xiao Xingchen's behalf, albeit expressed onto a different target)? and what is the point of Xue Yang's reaction after this, where he suddenly goes silent and stops responding, meant to indicate? the fact that Xue Yang gets angrier and angrier at Wei Wuxian for pressing the point?
these are all cues present for a narrative purpose, not "just because," and they're pointing in a direction that indicates that Xue Yang in this scene is lying through his teeth, whether or not he admits that to himself.
furthermore, since inevitably "but adaptation" comes up in these conversations, CQL actually retains this scene in a remarkably intact form:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
coming to the conclusion based on this scene alone (not even touching the narrative surrounding the events in the past) that people who claim that "xue yang had no genuine feelings about xiao xingchen whatsoever" is to be taken as truth are not just taking the most boring possible read of this text but also at least a little actively reading against it.

Dark Urge thoughts that make my brain go brrrrr:
losing themselves in the bloodsport while sparring and accidentally seriously injuring their partner
asking the party to start tying them up again after the revelation that they orchestrated this whole plot, reeling and terrified of what they're capable of
insisting that post-revelation everyone learn how to take them on in one-on-one combat in case it ever comes to that
realizing that the name they use throughout the game is something they made up after Orin scrambled their brains, feeling a wave of recognition and then nausea at Gortash casually using their old name
having only a token from before their memory loss to give them an inkling as to who they are, Anastasia-style, guarding it closely throughout their journey to Baldur's Gate and now staring at it, wanting to keep it close just as much as they want to be rid of it

Quickly disregarding SatoAi as "siblings," "an ab^sive ship," or ignoring it at best, is very common in this fandom. You can't find AMVs, posts, pictures etc. of this ship without someone commenting Ash and Iris being siblings/ Ash would suffer in such a relationship.
Firstly, none of the Ash-ships are canon. And to be frank? I don't care. Shipping is meant to be about speculating and having fun with headcanons. Even if Ash x *insert a character here* become canon, I will still ship SatoAi. Who is gonna stop me?
SatoAi is still as valid/ possible as other Ash/ main character ships. It got weird hate thrown towards it, but that's mostly because people refuse to watch/ pay attention to BW.
I'm not saying you can't criticize SatoAi, or dislike it. Of course you can. But they aren't siblings (duh!) And this kind of "criticism" is ridiculous and vague, because not every sibling-pair have the same dynamic. What do you actually MEAN??
Despite all the hints SatoAi have, why do people still clown on it/ hate it so much?
Tumblr media
Whoops! Here is the answer ^^
BW and JN is filled with cute SatoAi moments which show how well Ash and Iris get along, and how fun and vivid their dynamic is, and how much they care about one another - and they do so effortlessly. But you aren't gonna see it if you're fixated on how "b*tchy" Iris is, or if you can't see beyond your hate. Or more importantly, didn't even bother to watch BW.
