Hi, I'm completely new to BL shows, just started Not Me and I love it!! So I wanted to ask what your favorite BL shows are, to get deeper into the genre, maybe some featuring Gun? He really stands out, I like him a lot. Thank you!!
Hiii! I made a BL rec list for my more obscure faves recently but as always tumblr hates me and is pretending it doesn't exist so I'm making a new one :))) since you're new here I'll just include all of my top faves atm, in no particular order-
(Note that this is just the shows I personally really loved and isn't meant to be an objective ranking. If your faves aren't on here don't take it personally.)
1. Theory of Love - Thai BL
It's my all time favourite BL and I think it will always occupy the top spot on the list for me. This was the show that made me fall in love with romance as a genre. It's such a well executed story that really explores love in it's many forms and was back then one of the first times I watched a romance and felt that I understood exactly why the main characters loved each other so much. A lot of people have differing opinions on this show but for me it's almost perfect. It's also an OffGun bl so if you're craving Gun's acting this will satisfy that for sure. They're both great in this.
2. A Tale of a Thousand Stars - Thai BL
Another great romance imo. Not an OffGun show but the main leads had incredible chemistry. The story was a bit clichéd at times but in a way that was very enjoyable. I liked the slow burn build up of their relationship and the heavier moments really added some much needed depth to the whole narrative. Watching this show as it aired was a great experience and Tian will forever be one of my all time favourite thai characters.
3. 3 Will Be Free - not a BL but a must watch
This was one of the first thai shows I ever watched and it will forever be one of my faves. The story is about three people from very different worlds ending up on the run from the mafia together and ending up falling in love. No shitty triangles tho, ot3 all the way! Mild, my favourite thai actress, is so iconic in this and it's Jennie's best role for sure. Everything about this show was amazing, iconic, never been done before, best thing ever!!!
4. Bad Buddy - Thai BL
Now this one is a bit... idk if you look at my posts on the show near the end it'll seem like I don't care for it. The ending wasn't what I'd hoped for. It felt disingenuous and unsatisfactory to me. Other people loved it tho so it's definitely about personal opinion. I really loved this show in a this can do no wrong sort of way up until half-way through until some things happened that made me lose some of that obsession. Still, it's a really cute romeo juliet style romcom and there's a wlw side ship that I would die for so I will definitely recommend trying it out! Just be prepared for a couple things to not make sense...
5. To My Star - Korean BL
Short and sweet story about a celebrity falling in love with his chef roommate. Loved every second of this. It was so adorable. Not much to say here except that s2 comes out soon so definitely watch it before that!
6. Cherry Magic - Japanese BL
The story of Adachi who wakes up on his 30th birthday to discover his virginity had landed him mind reading powers which reveal his perfect co-worker's secret crush on him. This show is super sweet and wholesome and funny. Absolutely delightful in every single way I cannot recommend this enough. There's also canon aroace rep! Can you believe!?!? It's amazing.
7. Dark Blue Kiss - Thai BL
This one is hella divisive. People either love the main ship or hate em. I'm sure you can guess where my allegiances lie... For me, PeteKao both represented some very real struggles of being in a long-term closeted relationship. I felt that their story was relatable, realistic despite the dramatisation, and one that was important to be told. People often misrepresent this show as a petty jealousy plot when it's really about dealing with your own insecurities over a secret relationship (for Pete) and learning to overcome your internalised homophobia and fear of being rejected by your loved ones (for Kao). So yeah, I'm definitely recommend it but I won't guarantee that you'll like it.
8. Light On Me - Korean BL
Love triangle done very right. I absolutely love this show. It was so simple and grounded and also cute and fluffy. All of the romantic and platonic relationships explored in the show were top-notch and it really had me so completely invested in every single character and their relationships. Overall, very good watch must recommend.
9. Puppy Honey - Thai Show w/ OffGun
Now while this isn't actually a BL show a lot of people still count it as one simply because it was OffGun's first show together. Puppy Honey is a short, 2 season show about a pair of best friends who all fall in love in the backdrop of their club. Emma and Rome are freshers while Porsche and Pick are their super seniors (that's the concept). While both ships are cute and fun in s1 I do recommend skipping the straights in s2 for optimal viewing experience bc their storyline is both boring and completely inconsequential to the rest of the plot. Still, PickRome were OffGun's first ship and it's always got a place in the fandom's hearts because of that.
10. Colour Rush - Korean BL
I really, really loved this one when it aired. It's such an interesting take on the colour based soulbonds concept. S1 was amazing. The storyline, cinematography and chemistry were all amazing. But then a lot of things changed in s2 and I've been too scared to watch it so... I highly recommend watching s1 but won't speak on s2 yet...
I have A Lot more but I'll stop at ten for now bc it's 4 am and I really should sleep. But do check out my currently watching (link in my bio) for what I'm watching rn along with Not Me bc most of those shows are amazing too!

I’ve heard many people say, “If cishet men asked for a game centered only on them or poc asked for a game primarily about them, y’all would act up”. No hate to those I’ve seen say that, but that’s a false equivalency. Cishet (white) men have an abundance of rep, and poc (especially queer poc) deserve games that center them. LIS & BTS mean a lot to many wlw (me included) bc they’re queer coming of age stories that dealt with first love, strange and scary powers, physical and emotional abuse,
codependency, grooming, addiction, sexual assault, mental illness, and more. But the main characters are still white. And poc (queer or otherwise) deserve games that center them. And colorism & misogyny play roles as well. I can’t name a single game that centers a queer darkskinned black woman, for example. And thanks to misogynoir, we tend to see many more darkskinned black men than women in media in general. And the idea that someone has to be the race of a character to relate to them is callous and idiotic. I haven’t seen that argument used for anything aside from justifying obvious personal prejudice. Inclusivity is essential; if the next LIS game features all poc, and especially queer darkskinned poc, I’ll welcome it gladly. The last thing I should also mention is that I was excluding games like The Sims, The Mass Effect Series, The Fallout Series, etc where you as the player can determine those things about your character(s). Yes they’re important, but people can still opt out if they want to, and there need to be more games that have fixed queer darkskinned characters.)
Thank you for sharing and for your perspective. It really, truly sucks how little certainty I have that a future LiS game will feature a predominantly POC cast, because all of its settings have been so white so far (Thanks Oregon and Colorado! /s). And yes, non-customizable characters are essential to representation because their identities are non-negotiable and can't be changed or ignored. People from marginalized backgrounds have been forced to relate to cishet white protagonists for decades, so when stories feature marginalized protagonists, audiences better shut up and pay attention! And as I've been getting at in my LiS2 critique, POC deserve protagonists who not only look like them, but protagonists in stories that don't serve white audiences. Stories that celebrate, that ask nuanced questions, that show their research and sensitivity, and that don't exist to make white people feel good about how "woke" they are. We shouldn't settle for stories that simplify or cater to what white audiences know or don't know or what they want to hear.
I also really appreciate you brought up colorism and the term misogynoir, because it's really sickening how insidiously colorism factors into portrayals of women of color without us realizing it. Even Alex, for example, is half Southeast Asian, but you'd never know it looking at her light skin tone and very pale Vietnamese mother (not to mention Mrs. Chen taking her husband's last name, which isn't even accurate because Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean women keep their last names when they marry). It's great that we can expect queerness in LiS games now and that the series set that precedent, but it still sucks that six years on, we're still waiting for a non-white love interest in a LiS game.

MLM/Trans Rep Issues: a conversation
Hello everyone!
As was announced to the public in this post, we’ve noticed some voices of discontent from mlm/trans people in this fandom. We’ve spent the past week talking to many mlm/trans people in this fandom, to listen to what has likely been hurting them/making them uncomfortable. Our goal here was to educate ourselves on views that we’d been overlooking and to have a conversation about how to move forward.
We’re glad to say that every person who reached out to us was very patient and informative, so now we’re able to share what we’ve learned with our followers and the rest of the fandom. What makes everything a bit more complicated, however, is that it became clear quite quickly that not every mlm/trans person experiences these issues the same way. Most people we talked to had their very own way of viewing things, and we, as admins, think that each individual view had something valuable to say. There’s not a very clear right or wrong here, so we’re going to ask everyone not to approach these issues like there’s a definitive right or wrong.
What we’re going to do instead is explain the different views, in hope that it will educate many of you who’d had a blindspot to these issues. And then it’ll be up to each individual person to self-reflect and decide what you think is important. Once again, there doesn’t seem to be a definitive right or wrong, so we think the best we can do is make sure everyone has as much information to make their own choices with.
Fetishizing
One of the main issues that was brought to our attention is the fetishisation of mlm ships (in this fandom’s case mainly snowbaz). Some people we talked to said they came across this quite a lot, others felt like it happened here and there, and others said it happened so little that they had never been able to come up with an example of this within the fandom. So that already gives everyone an idea of what we mean by people seeming to have very different experiences.
What it means to use a ship for fetishisation is that you interact with the ship in a way that is purely focussed on the “hotness”/aesthetic of the ship, instead of focussing on the actual dynamic of this ship. This turns the ship into something more like an object of your fantasies, instead of seeing it as a representation of something real.
Everyone we talked to agreed that fetisising is wrong/hurtful. There were, however, more divided opinions on where the lines lie between content that is and isn’t rooted in fetishisation. Some views are more quickly to label a piece of smut that’s just straight up porn, with a strong focus on the “sexiness” of it all, as a piece rooted in fetishisation, while others think it’s more okay to have smut like this because wanting to celebrate a ship that you love having a bit of sexy-time can definitely come from a place of loving the ship for who they are rather than a objectifying sexual fantasy standpoint.
This shows that the whole concept of judging whether a piece of fan content is fetishising the ship isn’t something that’s just black and white. Something that is easier to judge, though, is yourself and where your love for the ship/certain pieces of content comes from.
We do thus strongly encourage you to take a look at yourself and the way you interact with the ships and content in this fandom. It’s good to ask yourself what your intentions are when creating/sharing any content relating to these ships, and to question whether you might be fetishising. We hope everyone will refrain from engaging with this ship from a fetisising standpoint. It’s often not something that happens to intent harm, but it is something that makes people who are actually represented within the ship highly uncomfortable and upset. It’s not a form of support to any sexuality/type of relationship that might be represented in the ship.
(Note: please don’t instantly write off the idea that you might be fetishising because you, for example, aren’t even attracted to men, because that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t look at a mlm ship in an objectifying way. Please, just, absolutely everyone, take an honest look at your view towards the ships in this fandom, and try to see if there’s instances where you are fetishising these ships.)
Genderbending
Genderbending/genderswap was the other main topic of the conversations we’ve had with mlm/trans people. Genderbending is simply put: changing the genders from one or more of the characters present in your work, to a gender that’s not their canon gender. In our fandom we mostly see this trope used on snowbaz, thus having them become fem!snowbaz.
A big critique for genderbending is that, very often, with genderbending the appearance/physical features of the character is what changes, and thus “that changes the gender”, which is a way of viewing gender that completely excludes the experience of trans/nb people. In the case of snowbaz, this means that Simon and Baz remain the same, but suddenly they have boobs and more feminine features, so that must mean they’re now women. While really, if you want to represent snowbaz with more feminine features, it doesn’t instantly have to mean that they’re now women, and being a woman doesn’t mean you need any kind of feminine features. It basically treats sex and gender the same, when they’re not. Genderbending also often treats gender like it’s binary, which it isn’t. For a bunch of the trans people we talked to, this is something that they consider quite harmful, not only to themselves but also to the way it inspires you to look at the concept of gender.
Besides that, there are times where genderbending gets used to explore a certain concept, such as: having one of the characters able to become pregnant, when really you can also avoid using genderbending here by using a trans headcanon/au for such a thing. The idea that the only way for you to explore these concepts with a mlm ship is having them turn into cis women comes across as both excluding the mlm and trans experience. So there are trans people who prefer if you use a trans au or trans headcanon instead of genderbending in these cases (here it is also preferred that you then have a trans person look at your work before you post it!). With this we do also want to note that not necessarily everyone trans person we spoke to experience trans au/hcs as something positive, and actually actively avoid them.
Now that we’ve spoken about the views against genderbending, there are still other trans people we talked to who don’t have an issue with genderbending. Their views on it with snowbaz are that when you have a ship that canonically consists of two cis men, it makes sense that people would have them be cis women when applying genderbending. (Also, not always everyone makes them cis women when doing a genderbend). The people that didn’t see an issue with genderbending generally came from the standpoint that people’s intentions behind genderbending are completely innocent and not done with the thought in mind that sex=gender, and that is enough for them to not feel hurt by it.
A thing that was also brought up here is that genderbending in this fandom is often used by wlw people to find a way to represent/express themselves in a fandom they love. The people who are in favor of genderbending see this as a very valid reason to keep genderbending around. If it has a positive influence on someone, and isn’t done with the idea in mind that sex and gender are the same, they don’t see why genderbending should be seen as a bad thing.
With this we also want to note that not all wlw are the biggest fan of genderbending. There’s definitely plenty that use fem!snowbaz as a way to see themselves represented, and for them it’s a very positive thing. There are, however, also wlw around who’ve spoken up against it. They see turning a mlm into a wlw ship by genderbending as a very objectifying way to look at a wlw couple. They don’t consider a mlm that now looks like wlw actual wlw representation. They often feel like it comes across very feishising and it makes them uncomfortable. So saying that it’s something positive for all wlw in this fandom is definitely an incorrect way of looking at it, but it is still also a positive thing for quite a number of them.
This shows how polarising the concept of genderbending is, and it’s really not in our interest to tell you what side to pick. We hope that you take in these views and use them to educate yourself on the topic. We hope you put in the effort to understand the different takes on it and then decide where you land. We want to at least make sure that your decisions around genderbending don’t come from a place of ignorance.
We also want to ask everyone to always tag genderbending if you do decide to post anything with genderbending. This way the people who are really hurt by it can at least avoid having to see it by blacklisting it.
This about sums up what we’ve been talking about with the people who reached out to us. We really hope everyone will use this to open their minds to different views on these topics. Since everyone's opinions on these topics seem influenced by personal views and experiences, we really cannot ask you to decide for others what’s right and wrong, and so we ask you to reflect on yourself and your own views instead.
We really want to thank @nonbaznary, @krisrix and others who will remain anonymous for taking part in this conversation! You were all super helpful and patient!
Both @nonbaznary and @krisrix told us that they were open to talk to people who still have questions surrounding these topics. Both of them represent different views, and thus will be able to give you different answers. (Please, if you decide to contact them, be kind to them and actually make an effort to listen to them. They’ve been nothing but helpful in all of this. Treat them well, this is something that can take a lot of energy out of a person)
@nonbaznary also mentioned that if anyone is ever looking for a trans person to look at your work before you post it, they’d be open to doing that for you, so you can contact them for that as well.
We hope that the actions that were taken here will help everyone feel a little more at home in this fandom, even though the solution is such a vague one.
Much love, The admins of the Carry On Countdown of 2020

I want to say this with care, and in a nonaccusatory manner, but I’ve seen a lot of discourse on my dash and I think we as a fandom need to remember to look at posts about Vanya (and Sissy)’s sexuality and take a deep breath and a step back before accusing the poster of lesbophobia or biphobia.
Full disclosure, I am a bi woman, and since the start of the show, I’ve seen Vanya as a lesbian, though if I had to describe her canon-wise right now I’d just say “wlw” due to lack of confirmation. If she’s bisexual, or pansexual (or another label that I cannot think of at the moment)? That’s fantastic, any LGBT+ rep is important to have and should be celebrated.
What I’ve seen a lot in fandom, however, are people seeing someone getting that Vanya is a lesbian, or that Vanya is bi, and assuming ill-intent or erasure on their parts, because Vanya is clearly the other identity. And there’s good, clear, readings for both (even if you don’t think/don’t want to admit there is, there absolutely is, it is why this discourse exists in the first place and it’s disingenous to say that every argument in the other group is based off of delusion and/or erasure).
I know we both rarely get representation, and having that confirmation is precious and amazing and so, so important. And to see something that is so significant to you, so important to see, makes us hold fast and true to it and that interpretation and something that doesn’t coexist with that interpretation leads to knee-jerk reactions because how, how can this person not clearly see what you see? And I do, want to, briefly look at those interpretations:
Vanya as a lesbian: Vanya is shown to be heavily repressed when she appears in season 1. Her emotions, her powers, her memories (to an extent) have all been repressed and the “true” Vanya doesn’t come out. Sure, she dates Leonard, but he’s also the first person to show her “positive” attention in a very long time. She doesn’t get that support from anyone else, she moves so quickly with Leonard, she hasn’t had someone “love” her like this that we know of. It reminds me starkly of real-life lesbian friends and their journeys, of a woman struggling with compulsary heterosexuality, and when she’s in Dallas, memory wiped, those same holds don’t affect her the way they do in season 2. Vanya is more confident to be with who she wants.
Vanya as bisexual: Vanya seemed to like Leonard, there didn’t seem to be anything suggesting that she didn’t feel romantic and/or sexual attraction for him. Yes, there was manipulation on Leonard’s part, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that Vanya has been in a relationship with men and women. While I haven’t had any personal connection with her story as a bi woman, my experience is not universal, and other bi fans have and can clearly see themselves in her story.
The same applies to Sissy - she states that she got married for the wrong reasons, that Carl is a “good man”, but never says she loves him. However, we’re years into their marriage falling apart, and there’s nothing to indicate that she never loved him to begin with.
I don’t think one is more likely to be canon than the other, and I can see why fans cling to one more than the other. Maybe she and Sissy are both lesbians, maybe they’re both bi, maybe one of them is bi and one is lesbian. However, something to note is that her sexuality has not been confirmed, and to say that calling her a lesbian is bisexual erasure or that calling her a bisexual is lesbian erasure can be harmful. Heck, I saw the biphobic argument against a poster who herself was bisexual, and while I’m not saying you can never say anything bad about the group you’re in, I think we also need to remember the people posting and the intent behind their posts, as well as the canon of the show. They should have confirmed what her sexuality is, while personally, I don’t think it was any ill-intent on the show’s part, it’s another common thing to just unlabel a character because it should be “obvious”, when there are many completely valid and fitting interpretations of her character.
I feel like I’ve seen a lot of disregard on the thought that yes, this can be a lesbian story or that yes, this can be a bisexual story with the thought of, “Well that’s simply not true”, and in this quest to try and call out bi or lesbian erasure the responses end up doing exactly that, and it causes more hurt and harm all around. I’m not saying you can’t headcanon her as one or the other, or have your own thoughts on what the story clearly seems like to you, but I do want to say that I wish folks would remember that we’re all real people reading these defenses and arguments and that it’s hard reading a post about Vanya that believes she’s clearly one sexuality while completely invalidating the experiences of people who are the other.

okay so. just to let tumblr know what is going on with twitter wrt the she-ra ending and what's blowing up on lesbian twitter, someone made a post celebrating canon sapphic couples, with she-ra, korra, adventure time, and steven universe.
then this fucking asshole made this comment on it:
Tumblr media
...which was followed up by this comment of the asshole below him.
[a twitter retweet with the comment "girl on girl is the safest and laziest LGBT representation" by twitter user TroyVaderInk, with a comment below from twitter user UnHolySpork that says "its almost like they are completely fetishizing lesbian relationships and also completely ignoring that lesbian relationships are most often extremely abusive. EXTREMELY."]
and the overt lesbophobia is enough to be mad about, obviously. but this is getting under my skin for more than that, too.
so, contextually, the discussion these people thought they were having was pointing out how seriously hard it is to get m/m couples on a show like this. however, the conversation had instead was this extremely offensive mess.
the original comment does a few things here, 1 being the complete erasure and dismissal of the struggle LGBT people have had actually getting these f/f couples on screen.
2, acting like these four children's cartoons are somehow elevating wlw representation to straight representation by pitting mlm rep against them vs against het couples, rather than acknowledging both facts: that four shows of minor, one-to-none kiss rep is pathetically low, AND that mlm rep is pretty much nonexistent in media like this.
and 3, he used the phrase "girl on girl" like a goddamned porn category, implying his opinion on the apparent "easiness" and "laziness" of sapphic couples is in fact informed by and probably counting fetishistic lesbian porn made for straight men.
(this man also spent a good deal of time on twitter antagonizing lesbians who called him out, many of them teenagers, some by saying some sexist shit and defending it with utterly stereotypical sexist responses, and he had added to his callout, a post of him referring to a sapphic character with the d slur, so feel free to go report him.)
the second comment here chimes in with an almost hilariously hypocritical assertation that a) these sweet, canon wlw couples on CHILDREN'S shows are (somehow) fetishistic (for existing at all i guess??) and that b) most lesbian relationships are (somehow) abusive; which is besides the point of this post, but still one of the most hurtful and damaging things said in this thread. there is an additional comment of hers (not shown) below this one that clarifies that is what she meant.
in any case, this drove me up a fucking WALL.
because while the initial point here - that media creators are still too scared to show boys as much as even holding hands in shows like this - has a lot of validity to it, it was posed at the utter expense of lesbians, and requires of heavy dose of hypocrisy to follow through in that way.
because while media is still scarce on similar mlm rep, fandom is literally DOMINATED by it. to the point that many lesbians, including myself, have said we can't find a safe space within it ANYWHERE. I've had to drop out of active participation in SO MANY fandoms i previously loved, because the entire fandom was reduced down to thirsting after and fetishizing men in the fandom, particularly in m/m format.
there is overt hostility towards lesbians in fandom spaces when we express our discomfort over this, and to boot f/f often gets ignored or mistreated by the same people, so it only adds to our discomfort and alienation.
these 4 shows have hardly put a dent in that. they are very meagre representation at best, save maybe steven universe on a technicality, because the rest are all end-of-show or even post-show confirmations, and all of these shows have about 1-2 kisses each, if even that. pathetic stats when compared to m/f couples. it has not made fandom that much of an easier place to be as a lesbian, but i am nontheless INCREDIBLY thankful they exist nonetheless.
the hypocrisy is hard, because as a lesbian the most we are often offered is blatant fetishization, so wlw media that literally DOESN'T do that, coming from lgbt people, is incredibly important. anything that is normalizing is desperately needed.
and yet this person calls what little bit of non fetishistic media we have fetishistic, underneath a fetishizing comment about them, decrying it existing because of claimed fetishization - all in the name of speaking up about mlm rep, which is, within fandom, actually JUST as fetishized, if not more.
and it breaks my fucking heart as much as it enrages me, because this COULD have been a valuable discussion. we could have talked about the fact that mlm have yet to get similar representation to this, likely mostly due to toxic masculinity. but instead these posts used that as merely an excuse, the afterthought to tearing down lesbians and this wlw rep.
and all this to say: it literally doesn't matter how valid your original point is; if you build it on a foundation of hatred and bigotry, it loses all credibility, and destroys the desire for anyone to put in discussion about it. talking about mlm rep under a heavy blanket of lesbophobia will get you nowhere except on a lot of shit lists, unless you WANT to align with general homophobes; but i promise you they will care even less about the plight of mlm rep, save for, oh how ironic, cases of fetishization.
if you look at four, yes the whole FOUR shows sapphics got of representation like this, and your follow through logic is that sapphic rep is thus "easy" and "lazy," you are clearly lesbophobic already and have no ground to start with.
the clashing, hypocritical combination of ideas here that bizarrely imply that both a) fetishized lesbians count as rep, and b) that lesbian rep shouldn't be there because it's fetishized, do not create a cohesive starting point for a discussion of lack of mlm rep, and conveniently ignores the endless bounds of fetishization that is involved with m/m couples in fandom; which means none of it is actually about fetishization at all. it's about these couples being sapphic.
the fact that these two people are bi, people from within our own community, makes this hurt all the worse. lesbophobia is so goddamned pervasive among us that even when we should be fucking celebrating this factually rare achievement of rep, instead people are tearing down lesbians, both characters and real people.
it's disgusting, disheartening, and it's something we need to pay attention to so we can call it out and make it abundantly clear that it will not be tolerated or normalized.
the height of offensive irony is calling us "safe" when this is what we get just over an episode of a cartoon showing two girls kiss.

I am absolutely forever in love with the fact that lesbian visibility day is the same day as my shitty homophobic ex’s birthday... I hope Taylor does something super loud again (like fucking releasing ME!) so he can’t escape it lmao... let’s manifest it bisluts
Anyway what’s ur take on that? Do you think she knew that 4/26 was lesbian visibility day? Idk if we think about things logically she’s not a lesbian she’s some form of fluid but she did want that era to be Gay Rights central like she kept saying “OUR pride” and “gay pride makes me ME” and she pushed the Equality Act. Idk how common that knowledge is that it’s lesbian visibility day lol but I only knew bc gaylors kept saying it in 2019 and I’m a wlw (well I was coming to terms with it at that point)
Lover in general just leaves me with a ??? Like I love the album for the most part (there are some skips tbh) but the rollout was just so bad and confusing. I do think the masters heist fucked shit up but idk the advertising and everything was bad. Also why is this girl so bad at picking lead singles like... I absolutely love ME! Like it’s cheesy, she says “babydoll” which is so cute, and it’s just fun bubblegum pop like I love it... but the general public doesn’t want that from 30 year old Taylor Swift lol. She should’ve released Cruel Summer as the lead single and the album would’ve done a lot better tbh.
Idk sorry if I’m all over the place I’m exhausted 😩 lmao I hope it makes sense
I think she should’ve known tbh because it was ME! a video partly about how gay pride makes her her (which is just... such a FUCKED UP thing to say as an ally bro imagine me saying black pride makes me me or trans pride makes me me like WHAT THE FUCK!???????????) and she checks National days. She likes to post about random ones and she used National Scrabble Day as an egg for Lover rollout.
So with this the options are: 1) an idiot with absolutely no connection to the gay community and no interest researching it ergo gay pride does not make her her, and the person who needs to calm down is her 2) didn’t care about it being a day of celebration for wlw and wanted to insert herself into the narrative for clout 3) it was meant to be part of a planned coming out that she aborted for whatever reason.
I’d prefer to think it was the third because hard hetty Taylor is unlikable af. Not because straight people are of because allyship isn’t important but because SHE IS A BAD ALLY if that’s what she is.
And ya Lover rollout was a hot mess. Fun album, cool concepts, TRULY AWFUL marketing. Maybe that’s why she’s gone back to Rep style “there will only be the music” because that’s much better. Lover marketing wasn’t... good. And her interviews for it also were.... bad. Like it was just messy af.

hey! i also get annoyed when i see the mlm / davenzi + kieutou parallel posts, but do you think it's an issue when people make wlw parallel posts between kieutou and crisana/mayla? it feels less bad to me, like it's less making a wlw couple all about a mlm couple and more just wlw fans having fun pointing out similarities, but i know crisana are technically an evak too so it could potentially be problematic. idk what are your thoughts?
hi! that's a v good question!
personally i don't think it's as much of a problem bc obviously wlw couples share a lot of experiences n since the representation is scarce it's a normal response to group them together to an extent. also especially when ppl make gifs of all three (mayla, crisana & kietou) it's usually just a compilation of skam wlw couples to celebrate the representation, not direct paralleling or claiming that they're all the same! when ppl do it w the evaks even if it's crisana it rubs me the wrong way tho specifically bc it's kinda taking away from how meaningful original wlw stories r n i want that credit to go for the druck team n who came up w the idea n kietou to be appreciated as the amazing original couple that they r. bc like everyone in the community especially wlw who have so little rep deserve to be represented in various ways instead of always being put in to the same box no matter how original or different they r from each other
like for the record i don't think it's inherently wrong to make parallels n stuff like that w male evaks & kietou either but it's worth inspecting why ppl will jump to parallel lgbt couples that r nothing alike just bc they're both gay. it's complicated bc most of the time ppl r just having fun w it but i genuinely cannot see ANY similarities between kietou & davenzi for example. not between the characters individually nor between the relationship dynamic. only similarity could be fatou's & matteo's behavior around their crush to some extent but even that similarity kind of vanished w fatou's bold flirting & advice from the last ep, matteo could never smfjkd (lovingly). so i think in conclusion the act of paralleling w mlm couples doesn't seem that bad but it's more abt the reasons why ppl need to parallel it n if there's anything to back it up besides both being lgbt 🤷‍♀️ but maybe that's just my opinion
also to go back to the wlw parallels as i said i don't have as many problems w those but it should probably still be noted that kietou is the only one between two women of color. even tho mayla is also an interracial couple the main character is still white n we see the season from that perspective so it's important to remember that while any wlw can see themselves in the characters it's still more specifically abt wlwoc! i'm white myself so i'm not gonna decide whether it's wrong or right to constantly parallel them w the couples consisting of 1-2 white ppl but it's still necessary to understand that not all wlw couples will have the same experiences n just like we can't put every mlm & wlw couple into one box simply bc they're gay since wlw still have a unique experience of being gay & women, we also can't put every white wlw & wlwoc into one box simply bc they're wlw since wlwoc still have a unique experience of being wlw & not having white privilege
overall i would just prefer to see some nuance n thought put into parallels if ppl r making theories/analysis based on them but obviously i'm not gonna have an issue w someone making a "lgbt couples of the skamverse" gif set or smth like that!

Hi I know it’s been a bit but I’m the confused bi anon. I really really appreciated your response and it wasn’t too long. You made me feel a lot better. I was wondering if you could maybe suggest some books, tv, movies with bi female characters. Thanks soo much for the entire last response . You are absolutely incredible and so sweet. This means more to me than you could ever know❤️
of course!! i’m glad that my first response helped <3
disclaimer of course: i’m not bi! so i’m not an Authoritative Source on bi rep and what people want to see more of. i do actively seek out stuff about lgbtq+ characters, specifically girls and women, so i have some recs! however, i’ll also be adding some things that some bi folks i know have recommended because while lesbians and bi women have a lot in common, these are at the end of the day representing them, not me :)
extra-super favorites will be bolded! i’m putting this under a read more because... i read a lot of books. and recommended a lot of them.
books:
her royal highness by rachel hawkins-- this book is a pretty easy read-- don’t expect any massive revelations about life from it, and you’ll have a good time!!! essentially, a bi texan girl named millie, after having her heart broken by her friend-turned-sort-of-gf, goes to boarding school in scotland and ends up rooming with the princess, flora. if this sounds outrageous and sappy, that’s because it is! and i love it! sexuality isn’t a BIG part of this book, but it’s discussed, and it’s just a generally fun enemies-to-lovers story about a bi aspiring geologist and a no-fucks-to-give lesbian princess and them falling in love!
fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe by fannie flagg-- hello this is actually my favorite book! unlike hrh it is... a LOT to read. it essentially follows 2 stories-- one about a housewife named evelyn and her friendship with an old woman named ninny threadgoode who she meets at the old folks home her mother-in-law stays at, and the other about the stories ninny tells her about her sister-in-law idgie and her partner, ruth. the book was published in 1987, and ruth and idgie’s story is set during the great depression, so they aren’t actively labeled as lesbian or bi, but it’s made obvious enough through coding and the fact that ruth has relationships with men prior to idgie while idgie spends her entire childhood pining after ruth. both storylines are fantastic-- they have a lot to say about the lives of southern women in the 30s and 80s, and about race relations at both periods. i’ll warn you that there are depictions of extreme racism and of abuse, but it handles both delicately. it’s a critical piece of southern literature, and a landmark for lgbtq+ storytelling. as a bonus, my copy has a bunch of great recipes in the back, so if you read it you might chance upon an edition with those in it. if you like poignant period pieces about wlw relationships, women losing their damn minds, and abusive men getting what they deserve, this is the book for you! you will sob. this is a fair warning.
you should see me in a crown by leah johnson-- i haven’t personally read this one, but i’ve heard great things about it from everyone i know who has! an anxious black bi girl in indiana has to win prom queen at her mostly-white school in order to get enough scholarship money to go to the college of her dreams, but ends up falling for mack, another girl running for queen.
@landlessbud wanted me to shout out red, white, and royal blue by casey mcquinston-- you’ve almost definitely heard about it before (first son and prince of wales, enemies-to-lovers with a side dish of political drama), and it is primarily about a mlm romance, but nora is a fabulously fun bi girl side character and there’s a lot of great stuff about figuring out your sexuality in it.
leah on the offbeat by becky albertalli-- i’ve read a lot of complex thoughts on this book, and mine are... i like it! it’s flawed, sure, and i wish it had handled a few things a little better, but you know what? it’s cute as fuck! leah is a fat bi drummer, and she’s super cool! abby is a great love interest, and she goes through a whole bi realization throughout the book. all in all, it’s just a fun wlw high school romcom with a couple solid dramatic beats and a lot of goofball shenanigans. also, if you were an american girl kid??? one scene in this book will make the entire experience worth it for you.
harley quinn: breaking glass by mariko tamaki and steve pugh-- hey, we’re in graphic novel territory now! this book is RAD. a really neat look at gentrification, community solidarity, giving people what they deserve, and fantastic lgbtq+ found families. teenage harleen quinzel is taken in by a group of drag queens, and is caught between two sort-of love interests-- mysterious vigilante the joker and classmate and community activist ivy-- and the different forms of protest and resistance they represent. the art here is STUNNING, and it’s a great read!
laura dean keeps breaking up with me, by the great mariko tamaki with art by rosemary valero-o’connell-- the vast majority of the characters are lgbt, with a lesbian main character, and the supporting cast including a bi nonbinary character, a bi girl character, and two mlm characters! this is mostly a piece about modern lgbtq+ teenagers and the way toxic relationships take over our lives. it’s one of the most cathartic things i’ve read in a LONG time, and especially if you’re at a point where your sexuality feels kind of vague, this is a great read because it embraces that vagueness by not needing to clearly label the characters and celebrates whatever point of clarity the characters are at. probably some of the most gorgeous art i’ve ever seen in a book, with a beautiful black-white-and-pink color scheme and a really neat approach to visual storytelling.
movies:
i don’t watch many movies, because i get bored really quickly hskdhskhds. but the movies i DO watch are usually gay!
wowie zowie its fried green tomatoes again!-- fannie flagg came back to adapt this into a film and HOT DAMN is it just as good. the plot is primarily the same, with some stuff obviously cut or trimmed to make it a two hour movie instead of a 450 page books fhsjdhsjhds. mary-louise parker plays ruth!!! it got a GLAAD award and an oscar nomination, and god it’s good. there are a couple scenes in here that i think are going to be in my mind until the day i die. the level of pure butch energy that idgie radiates in this film is a one-hit k.o. and it KILLS me.
birds of prey-- listen. this is not a profound movie. harley’s bisexuality isn’t emphasized, and romance is basically nonexistent in this movie. there is some... quite graphic violence. that said, this movie is so fucking fun. it’s mostly just a bunch of women fucking up everyone who crosses them while margot robbie gives a gleeful performance that you can just TELL she enjoyed the fuck out of. the last 20-30 minutes of this movie are the absolute best part, with a long sequence that kind of reinvented what an action/superhero movie could be for me. again, bisexuality isn’t a massive part of this-- it’s mentioned, and then harley just continues on in her gloriously campy outfits and breaks peoples’ knees. again, i CANNOT overemphasize just how fucking good the last 20-30 minutes are. this movie knows what it is and it embraces it. also, women beating people up in costumes that don’t horrifyingly objectify them is always a plus!
imagine me & you-- i’d be remiss if i didn’t mention this one, considering it’s probably one of the most iconic wlw romcoms. a woman named rachel, while at her own wedding, meets a florist named luce, and they fall in love. it’s a very sweet look at questioning your sexuality when you were already secure in it, and rachel’s husband wins “most genuinely understanding guy in a wlw movie” award. it has a lovely happy ending, and articles have been written about the importance of rachel being a bi character who a) gets a happy ending and b) isn’t shamed for figuring out her sexuality later on or slutshamed. this is just... a sweet movie. it’s the romcom a lot of us need in our lives. also, a LOT of floral imagery.
tv shows:
ok, i’ve got a confession. i reaaaaaaally don’t watch much tv. seriously, the only shows i’ve watched a substantial amount of recently have been parks and rec, schitt’s creek, the good place, and gilmore girls. i have a really REALLY short attention span.
that said, eleanor from the good place is bisexual!! the good place is a really wild ride, it’s half afterlife comedy half philosophical musing, and it will almost certainly make you gasp, laugh, think, and also probably cry. also, eleanor is just buckets of fun and she, like many of us, is often blown away by tahani (jameela jamil) and her beauty.
ummm shows i haven’t watched entirely or at all but that have bi women in them and seem pretty good: black lightning, sex education, jane the virgin, arrow.
if you haven’t already watched it, do not believe what people are going to tell you about watching glee. it will drag you into a pit of despair and white men rapping, and it’s quite biphobic to top it all off.
i hope you enjoy at least some of these!! i tried to include some of my own favs and some that were pointed out to me, so i hope that at least a couple connect with you and make you feel better. again, the bolded ones are my 100% favorites. i love you and i’m glad you reached out again!!! feel free to send some more asks later on <3

ok, i’ve been telling my dad this for months and i thought i’d finally share here. here is my dream scenario for when shadowhunters comes back (since i still keep hope that it will). and by that i mean what should happen- within realistic parameters- that i think would bring the show more general positive reactions, a larger fanbase, and stable success to ensure many more wonderful seasons. so we pick up shortly after where the epilogue left off- with the mains divided into the new york group and the alicante group- and they stay split up. this allows for 2 “A” storylines to run concurrently to allow for a wider audience to stay invested and more character dynamics to be fully explored, instead of shoved into rushed, very limited screentime “B” and “C” storylines. i’m thinking similar to daenerys and jon snow (pre s7) in GOT, aka equally important main leads.
clary remains the hub of the NY squad, as she’s always been. she is the favored female of the fandom, and this still honors the spirit of the books. alec becomes the hub of the alicante squad. he is the favored male of the fandom (tv time’s recent poll had him at more votes than the next 2 guys combined. he had over 700,000 while jace and magnus only had over 300,000 apiece. clary was at over 200,000). ok, we’ve got the chosen by logic “hubs” so let’s talk the “spokes”.
NY squad includes jace, obviously, and simon, izzy, maia. but instead of sizzy or saia, they slowly develop into a polyamorous throuple. this accomplishes many things: 1st, the shippers could make peace. 2nd, maia would have a solid link to who’s always been the center of SH: the lightwoods family. and 3rd, it could trim the fat, so to speak. instead of having supporting character wlw (heline, ollie, sam- all stereotypically characterized tv wlw, who only ate up screentime that should’ve gone to the downworlder mains imo) the wlw rep could be izzy and maia- already fleshed out mains. after spending time together resulting in unlocking some feelings, they could all get together since they both still care for simon too. now they’d have to be bi/ pan obviously- so no lesbian rep- but as a lesbian myself, i’m averse to the idea that every show has to “check every box”. quality over quantity. a trio of only POC is original vs just another wlw pair with 1 white person. as long as it was written properly, it could avoid bi stereotypes.
now the NY squad has all the different dynamic options to explore that this fandom seems to love (clace, climon, clizzy, claia, sizzy, saia, jimon, and jaia. and the jace/ izzy dynamic can finally get it’s dues!) and with a 3 POC to 2 white ratio, it’s better diversity than when things always revolved around the squad of shadowhunters in s1 thru s3. meliorn can join the fun sometimes. clary gets her powers back, but hopefully without the “mary sue” aspect. when the solution for everything was often just being shown new runes and drawing them, where was the earned achievement? (versus like when valentine was defeated, she did that!) generally, self-made heroes- rather than “born special”- are more relatable and inspirational. like arya vs daenerys- who was born able to hatch dragons in fire. she achieved so much, but without the dragons- like clary’s angel powers- none of it would’ve been possible. then again, i know daenerys is very popular, so my preference in hero types obviously isn’t universal. so either way, i guess.
on to the alicante squad (my personal favs)! magnus and luke have obviously already joined alec here, and they’re rebuilding the shadowhunter homebase to be an accepting environment. there has to be an actual lengthy, difficult power struggle here- an extremely prejudiced regime like the clave wouldn’t just topple overnight. maryse is here too and should be bumped up to be a main. then it’d be 4 women to 5 men as our mains- much more balanced. then 1 or 2 new lady characters could be introduced. let’s get some new blood on the show! and to appropriately fit into the already existing dynamic here, it’d be best if they were 30+ in age. (and hopefully they cast taller ladies, cuz aside from the mother roles- jocelyn and maryse- all of them have been 5′2″ to 5′5″ and it’s time to mix it up). they can develop solid friendships with our squad. also the parabatri needs to finally get it’s dues, since we’ve been robbed long enough. ok, and so with 1 shadowhunter, 1 downworlder, 1 sh turned dw turned sh again, and 1 sh turned mundane, there’s a lot of different perspectives here. and the new ladies could have their own unique perspectives as well. so it’d be very interesting for there to be problems they all must solve, but they each have their own ideas on how to go about it. thru compromise at times- and deferring to the one who’s perspective lends a better insight other times- they’d have innovative solutions.
to address why mizzy instead of either with clary, why the new women would probably not be wlw, and why the “hubs” are both white- it’s cuz the point of this post is me throwing in my 2 cents on what changes could be made- in the hands of new showrunners and now that we’re free of the book material- but is still possible, realistic, and viable given the way the industry machine works, and the demographic of this fandom. i’d also like to note that i just really want raphael and catarina gone, since they refuse to let magnus interact with them! they each only had 4 eps with him, yet they’re his “family”? it became beyond absurd! raphael= none in s1. 1 in s3. catarina= none in s1/ s2. only 1 in 3b- 3x22 doesn’t count cuz they didn’t talk at all. and for those who’d balk at alec being separated from jace and izzy, i say- have you never met adult siblings? it’s healthy, normal, and encouraged in society, that when siblings grow up, they go their own separate ways and live independent lives. forge their own paths. it does not mean they love their siblings any less. i have a sister, i should know.
in conclusion, the 2 separate squads would have their own adventures in the first 8 episodes of each half season. i think most everyone agrees that politically driven themes- dealt with symbolically thru this fantasy world- would make for better story arcs rather than just good vs evil (val, jonathan, lilith) all the time (esp since SH doesn’t have the budget to make fantasy elements very exciting). since there is a nice ratio of shadowhunters and downworlders in each squad, the set up for these themes would already be in place. and then much like any show that has divided storylines, at some point you’ve got to bring them all together. this could happen in the 9th episode. a wedding or holiday celebration or whatever. they could all sit around a giant table and have a feast and this ep could just be warm and fuzzy. lightwood family time- including magnus/ jace’s long overdue friendship- and a chance for them all to reconnect, until the last scene of the ep when some big bad guy dramatic problem could arise. then the final ep of the half season could be them all working together (as a whole or separately in smaller groups) to defeat the big bad (save the budget and the big fantastical sets/ creatures for the finales). end on an exciting cliffhanger. ta da!

Every MLM character you listed is either an occasional guest character or a one-shot background character. Korra, Asami, Princess Bubblegum, Pearl, Garnet, Rose Quartz, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune. I don’t watch the shows. The characters have simply reached that level of ubiquity. I can’t think of any featured characters, much less protagonists, in western children’s animated media, who are MLM. (1/x)
MLM characters do abound in media aimed at older audiences, but of those characters, how many are sensitive, nuanced depictions and how many are stereotypes, caricatures, or outright homophobic propaganda? Comparing all to all does no good – bad representation is worse than none, and I can’t find a source on only positive LGBT rep. It’s also important to do 1:1 comparisons in the children’s media in question. Protagonist to protagonist, sidekick to sidekick, unnamed to unnamed. I look at the WLW rep in children’s media and I think “I wish I had seen this as a child. I wish I’d been able to see a gay character as the hero. Maybe I wouldn’t have felt broken and invisible for so long.” Because that’s the case with so many. Korra is the hero of her own story. Garnet and Pearl are critical members of an ensemble cast. PB and Marcy are important supporting characters. They should all be celebrated as WLW rep held up as examples for what all LGBT people need more of. (3/3)–Alright its midnight over here so i apologize if i dont hit everything you said but i wanna answer it while on the computer for once. youre right those are all side characters and they should be main characters like the ones we been seeing for wlw. gay guys should have that absolutely. And youre right gay men have only been in mostly adult media and portrayed as stereotypes  and homophobic propaganda. (and wlw in these adult shows have also had their fair share of that as well). and tbh i wish that we could have gay men introduced with gay women at the same time in these childrens shows. I want equal representation in all media. hell if i could have it my way every single character would be LGBT. but once again, the fact that wlw are being shown more in children media than gay men is not due to wlw. no wlw is banning gay content for men. it is in fact, a man’s issue, particularly straight men. straight men view gay men as gross and straight men are usually who control everything including what goes in these cartoons. for gay men to say lesbians celebrating their rep is the same as straight men preventing content for gay men (thats how the last anon made it sound) is lesbophobic bc youre comparing lesbians to straight men censoring and oppressing gay men. that’s no good. my post from earlier was talking about the men who been saying its annoying that wlw are getting more content. that’s shitty for obvious reasons i shouldnt need to go into. doing that is doing what ALL men usually do, which is make any situation about themselves rather than others. Saying youre glad wlw content is being shown while also talking about how you wish there were more gay men content is totally okay. there’s nothing wrong for saying “its great they have this. i want this too and i deserve it” rather than “you get everything i deserve!” i hope that makes sense? im super tired. idk if youre the same anon as before bc they were a fucking asshole

Hi! I'm just curious as to why you don't like SU anymore/what made it bad?
Bad pacing, plot all over the place, sympathising with dictators, what they did to bismuth, racist uncle, human zoo, characterisations also all over the place (season 1 garnet would not let slide thing season 4 garnet had), racist designs (sugilite), iffy master/slave dynamic that is pearl and rose, the concrete fiasco in the art book, creators comparing gay ships to pedophilia, treating the more poc coded characters (garnet amethyst bismuth) like shit and giving the paler characters (pearl) the spotlight.
Basically it’s a cesspool of wasted potential sugar coated with some fantastic lgbt rep (ruby and sapphire), but it reached a point where being hungry for lesbian rep couldn’t overshadow the racism and suspicious tone that it was gonna end in redeeming colonising dictators. Don’t get me wrong I think su has played a massive part in paving the way for clear and out lgbt main characters in children’s media (adventure time started it all off tho) and the kiss was MASSIVE and I’m still reeling. But I can acknowledge that as a white wlw it is easier for me to be happy seeing it than wlwoc after all the racist stunts and I understand why there wasn’t as much as a hyped reaction as there would have been 1 or 2 years ago (and as a young lesbian it does upset me a little bit that there wasn’t an explosion of hype BUT like I said I know because I’m white that su’s poorer aspects don’t affect me like they do woc and wlwoc). So it’s just a bit hard celebrating a lesbian kiss in children’s media when su doesn’t really deserve the positive attention due to all of its problems, and that’s why I keep trying to make it clear in my tags I’m not gonna let it drag me back into believing the show is gonna get better because at this point it needed rewriting 3 seasons ago. But ruby and sapphire were so important to me figuring my sexuality and gender (still ongoing) out so I am gonna post about it a bit.
Also if I was still into the fandom I’d have to see bloody pe/arl/-likes-/p/ie all over the place and I couldn’t deal with that one

this site makes me so upset i see people mocking d**n*r* for bad kissing and generally being terrible to people that like them and thats so sad because im asian and also bi and i waited so long to see a character like nico and these guys just pop up and whine about them. Like dont they think that people like this ship even with the “bad kissing” because we waited so long for a character that represents us? Idk.
I know it can be difficult but my best advice to you is to ignore them?
These people usually have a very narrow focus and only want a specific type of representation. I’ve seen people complaining mainly about the kisses. First of all, I think the first kiss was quite nice. It was a first kiss with a girl who was finally admitting her feelings to another girl and the other girl had no idea until that moment. For that, it was a good kiss. The second one I am purely chalking up to the fact that Nico had a big lip ring in the middle of her bottom lip and so it was different. Also they’re still very new to it and I’m just gonna say this right now that THESE ARE TEENAGERS AND THE SHOW HAS TO BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT THEY DO. I was genuinely surprised with the intensity of the Gert x Chase scene (not in a bad way cuz I ship it) but also I think they are trying to be very careful with Deanoru and I appreciate their handling of it.
Don’t let jerks get you down. Deanoru is an important ship for many reasons and honestly a lot of the people hating are the ones who want something more sexual. I agree that we need to celebrate wlw sexuality more, but again they have to be careful with it on this show since these characters are underage.
Plus Karolina is the firstly openly gay character in the MCU so that alone is important. And Deanoru is interracial, which is important all around, but especially to people like yourself who want to see a bi Asian girl to identify with. I’m happy you’re getting that rep, by the way!
I don’t know if I’ll get any hateful messages about this but hey now I’m putting my point of view out there now and letting you know I support you!

@hiddenpolkadots
lmao you think you're really important, don't you? i wasn't aware of your existence until your post was sent to me
maybe you should start caring about poc and bi issues when they affect other real poc and bisexuals, instead of throwing us under the bus to protect your shitty straight otp
oh my godddddd are you really this stupid or are you just pretending? costia died for loving the commander, who is a girl. lexa died immediatelly after having sex with a girl, with a bullet that was meant for her, because her father figure didn't approve their relationship and clarke's influence on her. the implication is there. lmao the lexa/clarke/titus storyline was word for word an analogy for homophobic parent against their child's relationship. what's next? are you gonna tell me wells and lincoln didn't die because they were black? that raven isn't tortured because she's a brown latina? that indra isn't portrayed as an angry savage because she's black? you're backing up jrot's pathetic excuse that his show can't be racist and homophobic, because in his world racism and homophobia don't exist. fiction doesn't exist in a fucking vacuum. racism and homophobia exist in real life, and that manifests in the writing
clexa is a racist mess to whom, exactly? both are white. the narrative treats them as equals. wtf do you mean lexa never apologized? "i'm sorry. i never meant to turn you into this" - lexa, season 3, episode 3. clarke tried to kill lexa once, because they were on opposite sides of a war and lexa betrayed her. clarke told bellamy, supposedly her friend, that his life is expendable and sent him on a suicide mission, and shot at him. i'm convinced y'all snort coke before watching every episode
you say you're not homophobic but you're claiming that a straight ship has the same social significance of a wlw ship lmao. do you realize that young lesbians and bi girls NEEDED clexa to survive, and feel loved and accepted? that to us this is more than a ship, it was a lifeline? that clexa taught us that our love isn't wrong, and that we deserve better? fuck you
bellamy is an asian main without clarke. i don't see what bellarke has to do with this? are you saying that he has no value without her?
y'all care so much about raven, but ship her with wick the abusive white man played by a racist, homophobic actor, jasper the teenage boy, roan the man twice her age, murphy the man who disabled her, luna the woman she barely knows, echo the woman y'all hate, and a character who doesn't even exist yet. you'll ship her with a fucking rock before shipping her with bellamy, the only person who loves her the way she deserves to be loved. neither bellarke or braven is canon, but braven kissed and had sex, and they have a mutually supportive, respectful friendship, which is more than bellarke will ever have
lmao you're using racism to cover up your homophobia again. bellarke is a straight ship that the cast has every right to hate because they don't owe y'all shit. wlw are demonized all the time, and all the supergirl cast had to do was respect them and validate their feelings. it really is that simple
clarke will never stop loving lexa, her soulmate. if you really wanna go that route, bellamy and clarke knew each other for less than a year, and have been separated for six years. their relationship is non-existent. bellamy is focusing on his friends and possibly new love interest, and clarke is focusing on her daughter
i will take a straight girl who validates us and did her best to make us feel better, over homophobic bellarkes, any day. eliza hates your straight ship and protects her wlw fans, and you can't stand it. bellamy and clarke are the main characters and eliza loves their friendship, but that doesn’t mean they should be together. "i think that it’s something that people saw in the show that we didn’t necessarily write" - eliza taylor, 2015. “we wanted to think outside the box” - eliza taylor, 2015. booed for talking about bellamy? you mean when bellarkes call her a drunk fat bitch, accuse her of not knowing her own character, and send her death threats because she loves lexa and supports clexa?
it doesn't have anything to do with lexa, really? i guess i imagined bellarkes celebrating lexa's death and making jokes about it. i guess i imagined bellarkes calling lexa an abusive rapist. i guess i imagined bellarkes demonizing the lesbian. yeah, i'm bi and i know the meaning of bisexuality, unlike bellarkes, who think that clarke needs to be with a man to be a valid bisexual. you invalidate her feelings for lexa. you want her to be straight. that's biphobia. here’s a post that my friend wrote, explaining why bellarke is racist towards bellamy. bellarke is racist towards raven because you see her, the disabled brown latina, as not good enough for bellamy
lmao the show wants you to ship clexa, and the fact that so many ppl invalidate it and choose to believe that clarke’s in love with a man, means that there’s something VERY wrong. you see lesbians in real life as evil and predatory, so you hate the lesbian character. you see latinas as undesirable, so you hate the latina character
it’s amazing the nerve you have to call clexa a 2-week romance, when they spent more time together than bellamy and clarke
bellarke is inherently homophobic and racist
lmao @ "dreadlocks" you don't get to pick and choose when clarke is a racist white savior, and when she's important bi rep. her bisexuality doesn’t override her whiteness. she's still a racist white savior when she's with bellamy, dumbass
i mean, clexa are actually best friends, they got four kisses, two love declarations, had sex and a scene in bed. all you have is bellamy wiping sweat off clarke's face. if i were you, i'd be bitter too

What characters can be submitted?
In short, whatever groups are underrepresented in the media. This includes, but is not limited to, the following groups:
LGBT+ members
POC characters.
Characters with disabilities
Characters with mental illnesses.
Addiction
Religious characters*
*This will be on a case by case basis; if the character is, say a Christian in America, they will not be accepted as they are already thought to be the norm. However, if a character is from a region where it is underrepresented (ex. Christians in India) they may be included.
Are there any characters that can’t be submitted?
Yes. representation has to be canon, number one. Non-canon examples, such as queerbaiting, will not be accepted. Please remember that fanon =/= canon. Although some headcanons are popular within a fandom, they do not count as actual representation - and this doesn’t mean the blog doesn’t love those headcanons, but this blog is about canon rep that people can watch and explicitly see rep in/is known for this representation. Examples include:
Dean Winchester from Supernatural - not a canon mlm character
Harry Potter - not a canon desi character
Peter Parker from the MCU - does not canonically have ADHD
Characters who are heavily represented - if a character is a white Christian man, for example, they are already represented heavily in the media. While they can obviously be important to you, they are not meant for this blog.
Characters who have threatened, attempted, or did rape another character.
Pedophilic characters, including “non-acting” characters.
Characters involved in hate groups (such as Nazis, KKK, etc.). For superhero/fantasy groups - if the character had to do it for a job, or was brainwashed, or realized they were wrong and stopped, they may be submitted, but characters who knowingly and willingly went along may not be submitted.
These are submissions that I will not accept under any circumstances; if I am aware/made aware that these characters fall under any of these categories, the submission will be deleted. I also reserve the right to deleted submissions that may also be triggering/offensive that aren’t mentioned here.
Does the representation have to be canon?
Yes. There are many blogs who will take non-canon submissions (who will be added soon), but we want to celebrate the characters who are canonically representing specific groups. Therefore, we will not accept queerbaiting, or any other implied subtext - we would like canon examples as a reference for people who want to see themselves represented.
In this case, canon counts as:
Explicitly stated in-canon: If the content specifically has the character say: “I am ____”, that is the most ideal form of canon representation, or if it’s stated by another character (*in terms of they know the character is this, instead of speculating). This tends to supersede all other forms of representation (ex. if a character says in-show they’re pan but an actor or writer later says they consider them bi, the pan label stands, as that was what was shown/portrayed/stated to the audience watching).
Shown in-canon: Unfortunately, most shows don’t have characters explicitly stating their rep. But, they do at least show it - for example, Tony Stark clearly has signs of a panic disorder throughout the Marvel series (not in a one-off episode like procedurals or superhero shows may show). There can be speculations on what it is, and signs point to PTSD, but it’s not explicitly mentioned. So, a submission for him would be “mental illness”. Or, a character who’s expressed attraction to men, women, and/or nonbinary people may be largely considered bi in fandom, but a submission would say “mspec”, “mlm”, or “wlw” as we do not know the specific label used.
Actor-stated: if the content shows the character as [xyz] and the actor gives a specific label, it is fine to submit the character as what the actor says (ex. Sara Lance in Arrow wasn’t stated to be bi until years later on LOT, but she was in a relationship with both a male and female character at points in the show, and her actress specifically stated that she is bi throughout this time).
Word of God: There may have to be an “issues” section in these submissions due to the fact that many Word of God (aka creator-stated) rep isn’t explicit to the audience, but it still counts as canon as it comes straight from the creator
Coded representation: This is the one I want to be most careful with, especially because there are many coded characters - of all types, but I’m going to go with characters coded to be gay/ace/lesbian/etc. in this example. I don’t want to accept say, queerbaiting, as representation. I generally reserve this for shows/books/movies/etc. that had to censor their representation due to the network they were on (ie. Leverage, Legend of Korra) or had to be careful due to the time period (ex. queer-coded characters in Old Hollywood movies).
We prefer canon examples that explicitly show or state the representation in the piece itself; however, we understand that certain types of representation can be hard to find, and will accept a writer’s words to be canon.
Can I submit a character with [x] representation?
In most cases, absolutely. Historically on this blog, submissions tend to fall under these umbrellas: religious, disorders, disabilities, sexuality, race, and abuse survivors. However, there can definitely be other characters submitted who don’t “fit” into any of those umbrellas, and if you’re unsure, shoot me an ask!
Are there other blogs I can submit to?
We accept all characters, but we would love to suggest other blogs that also take in character sheets/submissions - and who will take both canon and non canon sources.
@c-ptsdcharacteroftheday
@bi-characters
@transcharacters
@jewishcharacteroftheweek
@acecharacters
How do I submit?
You can either use the submit button (while following this template) or this submission via google forms.
I want my submission to be anonymous
If you submit via submission box, please specify that you want to be anonymous! If you submit via Google forms, there’s an option right there on the form.
Can I request [x] character?
Absolutely! Just double-check that they’re not already on our requests list
What’s the posting schedule?
As of right now, the submissions have been on Mondays & Fridays at 1 PM, and should the schedule change; I’ll update it.
I submitted a character, but they aren’t in the queue. Should I resubmit?
Please give me a 1-2 week waiting time. I’m currently in school, studying for two boards, and will be starting rotations in the summer, so I’m not always on Tumblr, and when I am, it’s to relax on a break. If I haven’t updated anything within 2 weeks, please shoot me an ask or chat!
I don’t think [x] counts as representation/Why did you allow [x] to be submitted/Other clear discourse asks:
Discourse will not be tolerated on this blog, and if you send it you’re literally just wasting your time. I’m not going to argue with people on what representation is the “most” important or valid, and this is about celebrating the different and varied types of rep out there.
There was a mistake/update on [x] submission:
Please message or PM me for this instead of commenting on the post, as I might miss that notification. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible (again, please give me a grace period for responses) and update/correct a submission if needed.
