Right out the window
Trust me, it's crumbling
Watch as they fall right from the sky
Undeserving of their wings
I find it hard to sympathize

If it’s not too much to ask.. can we get a timeline for the lights out au?
(Not the full story, obviously. Just the bits of the timeline that have already been revealed. I just think it’d been nice to have a neat guide to it all)
oh for sure!
this is gonna be a little clumsy because I have a very bad grasp on time & also math. numbers suck and i hate them. but i Am trying to create a timeline, ill give you the Very basic, Very vague one
~~~~~
1972 / the show is cancelled, and the neighborhood is abandoned in the dark
1973 / Sally starts sleepwalking, Wally loses his eye
1975 / Wally starts exploring beyond the set
1980 / Barnaby loses his arm
1986 / The Divorce™️ happens
2007 / Frank wakes up
2013 / Poppy wakes up. Frank starts getting worse
2015 / Howdy wakes up. They barricade Sally in her house.
2016 / Eddie, Julie, and Barnaby wake up. Arc One ends.
~~~~~
aaaand not going into the other three arcs. the second is still nebulous, the third is soooo spoilery even though Does That Really Matter?, and the fourth is a mix of both.
sorry this isn't as in depth! aus aren't a high priority for me, so they're more like little side thinkings i tinker with when my main Interests start to get burnt out. keeps me fresh!

ok so your first problem was assuming mdzs is a story where Good People are Rewarded and Bad People are Punished.
your second problem was assuming that MXTX—who goes out of her way to showcase unresolved, tragic, undeserved endings in all of her works—would ever write a story with such a shallow notion of “deserving.”
the only reason wangxian makes it out unscathed is because they’re literally the protagonists. authorial intent and plot armor ensure their happy ending. that’s it.

I Believe...Steddie
I normally don't mind angst (though I avoid drama fics in general). Miscommunication is the biggest trope in romance, so I'm all for it, but for some reason Steve x Eddie fics / drabbles where Eddie still thinks of Steve as Steve THE KING Harrington always sit weirdly for me. Sometimes, if the Upside Down didn't happen (AUs in general) or pre-UD setting, maybe -- sure, then that could work. But close to canon fics where Eddie lives and Steve legit confesses to him? Always just -- strikes me as wrong.
Finally realized why -- it's literally the antithesis of canon Eddie. Canon! Eddie is quick to acknowledge Steve has changed. He literally runs up to him in the Upside Down while a bunch of madness is happening and where he has every right to be consumed by his own shit-tastic situation, but instead, he's telling Steve how he is a great guy and has changed.
Can Eddie be bitchy and prejudice? Yes.
Does Eddie have grudges against jocks / the popular crowd? Yes.
But he also goes full on bowing gentlemen for cheerleaders (going out of his way to help Chrissy and make her smile) and he's quick to acknowledge Steve's not that same popular AH anymore.
With Steve's bitchiness not aimed at him, Eddie would be eating his Honeycomb and snickering when old habits popped back up, and maybe he'd feel conflicted about jocky Steve, complaining about going to games or something until somebody smacked some sense into him. Totally believe tension and disbelief about one liking the other or some bias about things, but I just can't see Steve proclaiming his love or whatever and Eddie assuming it is a trap or trick or prank or something.
Maybe he'd think Steve was confused. Maybe he'd assume they were doomed, but I can't see him blaming Steve for that or blowing up their relationship IF Eddie accepted the confession and they started dating. Eddie's way more down on himself.
If someone can explain how it makes sense, please do. I'd love to enjoy all Steddie tropes, and that one seems popular lately, but where my brain sees so many problems with them getting to the confession point or even a number of big arguments that could happen afterward due to outside aspects, those two strike me as highly tactile, highly clingy romantics who would be convinced they were the height of discrete while practically fused, constantly touching and being snide little judgy dudes together.

Sometimes I wish I could drive home just how little of Chinese fandom culture actually makes it onto Tumblr at all, much less circulates in western Tumblr circles, and I've finally got a solid example.
On this list I reblogged a not long ago, Poyun, which I started reading on Bilibili the other day, has the 93rd most popular ship on all of Lofter, with over 15,000 posts. By comparison, the 93rd most popular ship of that same year (2020) on Tumblr was from Haikyuu, and from 2021 the 93rd most popular was from Miraculous Lady Bug - which is to say, even if you're not into, it's a fandom you've almost certainly heard of if you move in fandom circles at all. Like, those are two fandoms with known, huge followings. Likewise, Yan Xie/Jiang Ting is a big deal ship on Lofter.
I started reading the manhua a few days ago, so I know I'm gonna be posting some of the manhua art to @cnovelartreblogs so I was like, I should check the main tags and queue the art (even if it means I might be exposed to spoilers), and then I won't accidentally duplicate other people's art posting efforts or anything.
Now, granted, I've seen some evidence that tag search is more broken than usual the last few days, but even so...
#po yun: there are maybe 30 posts in "most popular"
#破云: there are maybe 20 posts in "most popular," and they're basically all the same (as in, people tagged both)
#poyun: about the same number, and the only 3 pieces of fanart I can find on the whole platform (@drawulan you don't know me but you are a BLESSING to C-Novel fandoms with small followings on Tumblr. A BLESSING, YOU HEAR? I LOVE YOUR ART.)
Y'all, we have no idea how little we actually know and see about what's popular in Chinese fandom.

I hate when I’ll be complaining about some stupid bullshit a coworker does to other coworkers and half the time their response is to lower their voice and go “well…. You know…. I’m pretty sure they’re… on the spectrum, you know?” And every time I have a split second when I have to consider saying “you know I’m autistic, right?” just to make them vaguely uncomfortable for a few minutes and actually think about what they’re implying but of course I do not do that because the gratification is not worth a large sect of shitty coworkers knowing that about me and then talking about me like that every time I do something vaguely annoying or dumb but man…. It does get tempting sometimes

Ace knows all too well the pain of spending lifetimes longing for someone, how it kept him from resting in peace, so by becoming deified and wiping his friends' memories he not only escapes the cycle, but is trying to prevent similar circumstances from occurring. Which is ironic, maybe hypocritical, because when given the choice Ace never wanted to forget about his mother. He'd rather suffer. Mourn. Bleed for her. It's the same for Keiwa, Neon and Michinaga. If living with their mistakes and heartbreak means they can remember the man who signified that whirlwind of change and pretends he doesn't care when he truly does, they would grit their teeth for him. Yet Ace wants them to seek better purposes in life, enjoy what people take for granted. He wants them to be happy without burden. And that in turn makes him happier than any DGP can
