Shipper Tag Game
Tagged by @heyholmesletsgo, thank you! :) I apologize that this took me literally forever to do!!!
1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore? I think probably Alec Scutter/ Maurice Hall from Maurice but I wouldn’t say I don’t care about them anymore
2. Which ship would you consider your first one? I had to think about this really hard. I don’t remember if it was George and Susan San Francisco from Alien Nation or Maurice Hall and Alec Scutter from Maurice.  I loved both of these couples fiercely but especially the former I haven’t even thought of until I started thinking about this.
3. Your first fanfic was about which couple? I didn’t ever write it down till much later
4. Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of? I apologize to artists – I do not!!
5. Have you ever gotten into ship discourse? With my social anxiety? Heavens no.
6. Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently? I guess I do but I honestly don’t think about it too much. Like I don’t read those ships but honestly can’t be bothered to block any content because I don’t care that much.
7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read? WeiLan from Guardian (Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan)
8. Currently, do you have any OTPs? SO MANY (can one have multiple One True Pairings?  Yes, yes you can).  ZiNing (Ouyang Zizhen /Wen Ning) is my absolute number one.  But I also passionately love ChuGuo, BigTay, ChanPol, XiYao, YaoYang (CLs Yao and Ouyang), ZhuiLing, and Qin Su/Bicao.
9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together? Okay so this is a bit of a deep cut and I refuse to google the names of the characters lest it upset me again. I adore the actor Rupert Graves (Probably because he plays Alec Scutter) and he was in this movie called Dreaming of Joseph Lees.  His character has sooooo much chemistry with the female lead and they are so good together. But in the end she goes back to her horrible and cruel husband because he’s been injured or something I don’t remember.  I just remember I was sooooo mad and it still upsets me to think about it now.
10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting? I mean probably if you have a really wide definition of ship and it encompasses my whole life of imagining fictional characters together. But I can’t think of one right now.
11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, would've been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? I can’t think of anything.
12. What is your favorite crack ship? People consider YaoYang to be a crack ship but like I don’t think I could be so passionate about them if I thought that. I am not writing them as a pairing as a joke.  I think the first time I wrote them seriously (a fic called A Call to Arms) I started it as a joke and a way to play with unreliable characters. But I ended up sort of getting in their heads and now I love them so much. Because I think people in my life find me annoying and a little too much of a know-it-all (who is often wrong about things) so I kind of identify with CL Yao in a way.  So but yeah I guess technically this is my favourite crack ship?
13. What is the couple you read the most fanfics about? Honestly, I guess WangXian just because there are the MOST of them.
14. What do most of your ships usually have in common? Hmmmm.  I think, and maybe this is in all ships?, that each of the characters sees something in the other that no one else can. Like maybe everyone else thinks they are annoying (lol YaoYang) or just a sweet sexless cinnamon roll (ZiNing), or for whatever reasons the characters don’t think they deserve love or that anyone could love them.  I think that’s the thing.
15. What you absolutely hate in a ship? This is hard for me to answer because the whole point of fiction is that you can like things that would be terrible in real life.  So a dynamic that would suck irl could be a great ship dynamic?  I guess I don’t have an answer.
Tagging @unfortunatelycake @jaggededges123 @justacoyote @linacies @zaelriel (no pressure at all! I won't be offended if you're not interested!) and whoever else would like to answer!

Some more Qin Shen Shen moments translations (Part 10/?)
2020 S2 Reunion Edition 1/?
Tumblr media
Link to other translations so far.
I will just...translate all the cuts from S2E10 and any related materials I can find, since I have been Qin Shen Shen-deprived, and one episode is really not enough. But the cuts are long, so I will divide it into parts.
a. Cuts from the interview with Wen Yu Xin Tian Di prior to the reunion episode S2E10:
ZS: Hel- LKQ, very fast: Hello everyone, hello everyone, hello everyone, we are Qin Shen Shen!!
ZS: *pauses before calmly picking up again* Hello to the viewers of Wen Yu Xin Tian Di. We are (finishing with LKQ: Qin Shen Shen~~)
(...)
ZS: Even though it’s been a long time since we’ve last seen each other, almost a year, (LKQ: Pretty much) after we did see each other again, it was like it hasn’t been that long since we separated. It’s just...fight when we want, act silly when we want, play when we want and laugh when we want -- *gasps at self* it rhymes.
LKQ: Yeah, actually, at the outset, before I saw you again, I was a little worried. (ZS makes a surprised face) As in, would it feel like we haven’t seen each other in a long time, would it feel a little foreign...? (ZS: Really?) But NOT AT ALL.
ZS lets out a laugh.
LKQ: It’s still the same old....*strikes a pose instead of finishing the sentence*
ZS:  Your Mandarin is also the same old one. *laughs*
LKQ: *nods* Yes.
(...)
LKQ: We’d often care about each other. (T/N: Sorry, based on what the voice-over said, I don’t know if what he says here is “we’d ask each other how the other is doing”, or “we’d think about the other’s well-being”, as in, it’s not clear to me whether they verbalised the care)
ZS: Yes. We’re...facing special times, so...just hoping everyone can take care of their health.
LKQ: Yes, but also: I’ve seen on the net that Zhou Shen’s done so many shows with different styles. (ZS: Heh. *nods* Mm.) He’s really worked very hard.
ZS: Eh? It’s not so bad. I’ve simply had lots of fun playing games (in variety shows). (LKQ: The traditional clothing *unintelligible* is not bad!)... I’M NOT TIRED AT ALL~ (Both laugh)
Side-note: The traditional clothing might or might not be a reference to Youth Periplous 2 cosplays, since Zhou Shen did get a traditional outfit in YP2, but who knows what Li Keqin saw online.
Tumblr media
b. Li Keqin’s solo interview with Litchi’s New Year’s Eve. The interview question is “Is there any difference between your collaboration with Zhou Shen this time (in 2020) and last time (in Wo Men De Ge S1)?”
LKQ: His voice fits in the type that goes really high, and is very sharp. Mine is relatively deep, and thicker. We didn’t think the chemistry that would happen (by combining them) would be this strong. No matter what, a duo like ours shouldn’t become one of those “senior-junior” relationships, where we are forever speaking courteously to each other like “Ahhh, big brother Keqin~!” If we are to be a duo, then we’re at the same level of seniority. That’d give the audience a sense of familiarity.
Side-note: He actually hasn't answered the question.
c. S2E10: Backed by popular demand, Qin Shen Shen returns to Wo Men De Ge. The camera shows the two walking in the backstage as they head onstage.
LKQ, stopping to look at a placard: Eeeehhh.
ZS: What, what are you looking at?
LKQ: This wasn’t here last year.
ZS, grabs him by the wrist to pull him along: Why do you make it sound like we didn’t have anything last year?
LKQ, still wants to stop: Can we take a selfie?
ZS, yelling: We had that!
d. S2E10: Qin Shen Shen make it to the stage, while the other contestants are already seated.
ZS: Hello everyone, I’m Zhou Shen~ We’re back again!
MC: Welcome! Welcome back to Qin Shen Shen! Welcome Shen Shen, welcome teacher Keqin, welcome!
LKQ & ZS, standing side by side onstage: Thank you, thank you.
LKQ and ZS look at each other, making the latter laugh, while LKQ slowly starts to circle around him.
ZS, backing away: *laughs* Wait a minute...! What is this supposed to mean, what are you... *changes places with LKQ and puts some distance between them* I’ll use my toad technique: kwak!
ZS grabs LKQ who is still circling to put him back in place.
LKQ: It’s been a while since we’ve been here.
ZS: Stand properly while talking.
LKQ: Right.
ZS: Right, it’s been a while since we’ve been here.
MC: Do you feel like anything has changed on this stage?
LKQ: Well, I do like the dry ice. *motions towards the dry ice on the floor, making the MC laugh* (to ZS) We’ve been talking about this issue all last year.
ZS: Yeah, I noticed there’s this issue in this season too. Some people would get a bridge, some people would get a door, some would get a mountain, and when it comes to us, it’s just ...(LKQ: Dry ice.) ...dry ice.
MC: Everyone knows that Qin Shen Shen is just one group of Li Keqin’s. Teacher Keqin has another group called “Ke Bu Rong Huan”. (ZS: Oooh!) And the “Rong” of “Ke Bu Rong Huan” is sitting over there (aka Rong Zu Er/Joey Yung).
LKQ (to ZS): Do you want to say hi? To elder sis Zu Er.
ZS: I already did!! *bows all the same* Teacher Zu Er, hello!
RZE: Hello. *bows too* Fellow student Zhou Shen, hello.
ZS, bowing again: Hello, teacher. Hello.
RZE: Let me introduce you! *points next to her*  Miss Xilinnayi Gao. Zu Er’s little sister.
LKQ: *waves* Hi. Little sister, hello. (ZS makes a face)
XLNYG: *bows* Teacher Keqin, hello.
LKQ bows again in response. ZS sees LKQ bow and follows suit.
RZE: Next to me is Tai Yi. (TY also stands up and bows silently)
LKQ, bowing back, along with ZS: Hello, hello. I saw on the show that you talk very little.
RZE: He always talks precisely.
ZS: So both short, and precise. (RZE: Yes) OK.
RZE, continuing the presentations: Teacher A Zhe~
Zhang Xin Zhe and Qin Shen Shen continue with the bowing fest and courteous greetings.
RZE: Teacher Wang Yuan~
WY, also standing up to bow: Hello to both teachers.
Qin Shen Shen, by now synchronised in their bows: Wang Yuan, hello~ *more bows*
ZS (to himself): So polite. *bows again*
RZE: Teacher Chang Shi Lei~
Qin Shen Shen, synchronised again in their bows: Hello, hello.
CSL, standing up: Both of you, you’ve had it hard (referring to all the bowing)
LKQ: It’s already been 15 minutes!
RZE: You wanted me to introduce you!
ZXZ: This...Qin Shen Shen is...you know, before we came to participate to “Wo Men De Ge”, Qin Shen Shen was this tale you’d hear underground. You’d hear all sorts of tales, many of them. And today, we finally see them onstage, after struggling for this long...But I think it’s worth it. Because this kind of stage needs a chemical reaction like yours, to bring us more surprises.
RZE (about QSS): They have so much chemistry. (ZXZ: Yeah!)

Some more Qin Shen Shen moment translations (9/?)
Tumblr media
Link to other translations so far.
In cuts outside the final broadcast - part of the Xiao Gui series:
a. Qin Shen Shen playing quick questions, quick answers.
ZS: Apart from me, who in the remaining three young singers (in Group A) do you most want to be paired with?
LKQ: Xiao Gui.
ZS, sourly: Ohhhh...............So...collaborating with me, you feel really... *makes motions with his hands* like there aren’t any sparks, is that right?
LKQ: ......Do you really have this little confidence in yourself?
ZS: Yes. (frenetically to the camera) I really am someone who’s extremely insecure and extremely not self-confident!! (LKQ: OK Next question, next question!!)
b. Qin Shen Shen play the lie detector game. One asks the questions, the other answers with their hand on the lie detector. If the person answering lies, they get an electric shock.
ZS, handing the lie detector to LKQ: Teacher, put your hand here. (LKQ complies) Who’s the young singer you most want to be paired up with?
LKQ: .....Apart from you, right?
ZS, sassily: Uh, no, I’m also in it.
LKQ: Then you!
ZS frantically presses on the button to activate the lie detector, but LKQ doesn’t get shocked.
ZS, upon hearing the sound signalling that LKQ hasn’t lied: Ah? *gasps and covers his mouth*
LKQ: Okay lah! *smug as fuck*
ZS continues to pretend being overwhelmed with a whole flurry of shocked faces, before suddenly going “oh” and putting his hand on the lie detector:
ZS: Not me, though. (Both crack up)
c. Continuation of the lie detector game.
ZS, positioning LKQ’s hand on the lie detector: Amidst all the senior singers...
LKQ, anticipating: Mm. Me. (ZS: Apart from you.)
Both cackle.
ZS: Apart from you...
LKQ, already guessing the question: Aren’t you copying my question? (LKQ had asked the same question to ZS earlier but ZS had refused to answer)
ZS: Uh, is that not allowed? You didn’t fix any rules -- Who sings the worst? *activates lie detector*
LKQ: Mmmneh, it’s the same question! What’s fun about that...?
ZS, still sassily: Uh, answer quickly.
LKQ: What’s fun about that? *leans to repeat* Who...? Who - who...
ZS: ...sings the worst. .....We can give you ample time to think about it.
LKQ, in his bullshitting voice: .........Actually, everyone still has a lot of room for improvement. (ZS: Huh??) *LKQ cracks up and gets zapped*
LKQ falls over on the sofa, dead with laughter, while ZS rushes over to grab him:
ZS: For real?? For real?? For real?? (LKQ, still dying of laughter: Yeah...!)
LKQ, whimpering after getting up: Did I say something wrong? (ZS, singing to the camera: Being invincible is so, so lonely) ....Right...I said something wrong. *shakes his hand* Whoaa!
ZS: Seriously? Did you really get zapped? (LKQ: Yeah!) For real? ...Wow!
LKQ (to the staff): I didn’t lie! (T/N: with the wrong intonation) *leans towards ZS* is it lie?
ZS, correcting the intonation: It’s “lie”.
LKQ: Lie. (to ZS) I didn’t lie!
ZS: You did lie. (to the camera) After all, how could the senior singers who come to our show have any problems?
Note: Tbh this cut is impossible to translate in written form without the visual that goes with it so here is the link. The part at issue starts from 1:20 onwards.
d. Episode 12, Backstage: Li Keqin and Zhou Shen are talking about the 3 songs they are singing for the episode, including “Your Name, My Last Name”, a Cantonese song that Zhou Shen was unfamiliar with.
ZS: We haven’t rehearsed it that much, actually. 5-6 times? 6-7 times?
LKQ: Definitely less than Xiao Ge, that’s for sure.
ZS, scoffing: Xiao Ge, someone here is not satisfied with you.
LKQ: So it means we’re still not (ZS: satisfied) serious enough about rehearsals.
ZS, surprised: Huh? (LKQ: Yeah!) We are very serious!
LKQ: They just casually rehearse 10 times, 17 times...right, while we just rehearsed 7-8 times.
ZS: But to be honest, even if I rehearsed this song any longer today, no matter how many times I rehearse it, it’d be meaningless. Because I need to go home and really tame it. I have to tame a song until it’s familiar, until...until it’s in my head--
LKQ: I know you don’t like this song. You’ve never heard of it, and you say it’s meaningless. *giggles* (ZS, laughing and touching his arm: That’s not it. It’s just....it’s just...)
LKQ, goofing around with lots of hand movements: After you finish singing it you’ll know how good this song sounds, and also, you will love it more!!!
ZS: That’s not it, it’s just, that song isn’t in my head yet...
LKQ (to the camera): It’s mainly that he’s slept too little.
ZS, ignoring the remark: If I kept rehearsing it onstage, I feel like it’d be a bit...Right now I just want to hurry home, I want to listen to it while I take my shower, study it while I take off my make-up... The competition’s tomorrow. (to LKQ) It’s the last episode, Da Ge. (LKQ: Right) *in Cantonese* Da Lao~
LKQ: Even though out of the two of us, I’m the one who’s relatively more familiar with the song “Your Name My Last Name”--
ZS: You’re not relatively more familiar; you’re super familiar with it.
LKQ closes his eyes and sighs.
LKQ: --because it’s in cantonese, for me it’s comparatively easier to handle. But actually, I also have a lot of parts where I need to go home and polish the harmonisation.
e. Episode 12, Backstage: Li Keqin and Zhou Shen are talking about the 3 songs they are singing for the episode, including “Hua”, which they’d originally prepared for Ep. 11:
ZS, referring to “Hua”: This is a song we’ve prepared before, so we’re very familiar with it. There’s no problem with it.
LKQ: There’s no problem when we get the demo a little bit earlier.
ZS: “Hua” is a song we were going to sing last time. Basically, it’s about showing a different style, I guess. “Hua” is also a song in which teacher Keqin sings in a cute way that people wouldn’t expect -- in a refreshing way. (to LKQ) I think it’s a cute and refreshing style.
LKQ, slightly sassy (to ZS) : Actually, I had a lot of songs in the past which were very cute and very refreshing... (ZS: Such as) It’s just that I didn’t get to show them with *motions with his hands* “someone else” in this show--
ZS: So it makes you regret that you’ve been singing with me until now?
LKQ stops, closes his eyes.
LKQ: No, I meant -
ZS, laughs: Alright.
LKQ: I meant I didn’t have such a collaboration with you. (...)
f. Episode 12, Backstage: Li Keqin and Zhou Shen are talking about the 3 songs they are singing for the episode, including the original song written for them, “Bu Jian Jiu San”:
LKQ: Yes. I think...from episode 1 until now, we’ve always had a great collaboration. So, to have a small “baby” come out like that (ZS makes a face), in my view, it’s like...like commemorating this group of ours.
ZS: I think--
LKQ: --It’s lovers who are breaking up and make a baby. *loses it* (ZS: ???!!!!)
ZS, feigning outrage while LKQ is still laughing: How do you want this part to be broadcasted??? Your values are VERY problematic! *sighs*
LKQ: Not at all! I think that simile was very good!
In another interview before the finale, Li Keqin “tones it down” by comparing it to “Lovers who are about to separate and make something together”. Not sure which came first. In that interview, Li Keqin calls the song “a present that the show gave to them, and a present that they gave themselves.”

Some more Qin Shen Shen moment translations (8/?)

In interviews
a. In one of the early interviews, likely one of the first after they got paired up.
ZS and LKQ together, except LKQ is saying it really exaggeratedly and with jazz hands: Hello everyone~!
ZS, laughing and leaning against LKQ: You don’t have to say it like that either.... *makes a face* Be more serious! You’re one of the Heavenly Kings! (LKQ: Oh)
(...)
Interviewer: Do you regret choosing each other?
LKQ, in his straight-faced bullshitting tone: I’m not really satisfied. I think there’s still....
ZS: Eh, this kind of things, it’s better not to say it out in the open.
LKQ: Oh, ok. *turns back to the camera* I’m very satisfied.
ZS: Yes. We’re very satisfied.
Both grin at the camera, trying not to laugh, before failing.
LKQ: There’s still room for improvement, I think...
ZS: Of course.
LKQ, points at ZS: ...for him! *cracks up while ZS looks up at the sky, at a loss for words*
b. Solo interview for Zhou Shen for the 2020 New Year’s event in which he sang with Li Keqin.
ZS: “Which one is more difficult, between cantonese or rapping?” ......Understanding teacher Keqin’s mandarin is more difficult. *grins like a little shit*
c. Qin Shen Shen interview before Episode 7, when the eliminations started.
ZS, referring to the eliminations while looking at LKQ: I think it’s very brutal. It means...out of eight people, two pairs have to leave. Right...?
LKQ doesn’t reply, just stares ahead, thinking.
ZS: ??? *leans in to wave in front of LKQ’s face* hey?
d. Not sure where this interview fits. Perhaps around Episode 9, while Li Keqin had a cold.
LKQ (about ZS): He often encounters elderly people who want to...to... sing in Cantonese, to sing in Japanese..in Ru - *turns to ZS* Russian is not my fault.
ZS: It’s not. (LKQ: Right.)
ZS (to the camera): But it’s not so bad. This time round, I haven’t really been collaborating with elderly people, only with relatively....young....very skilled senior artists. (LKQ tries not to laugh)
e. The interview question can’t be heard, but it looks like some interview for episode 11 and Zhou Shen and Li Keqin are basically speaking at the same time / over each other:
ZS: What his specialty is--- LKQ: But if I let him choose, we are basically never choosing anything-- ZS: My God, the two of us are so loud. HELP! Can we be interviewed separately?! (LKQ cracks up next to him)
ZS: We’re so loud, am I right? Tsk tsk tsk. *shakes his head*
LKQ: Right, right, right, sorry, sorry.
f. Interview before the finale. Zhou Shen talks about Episode 11 (which was emotional).
ZS: The feeling of “unwillingness to let go” got truly magnified.
LKQ: Ah, because of elder brother Hua Jian’s....
ZS, instantly: Yes. It was perhaps just, in that moment, in those circumstances......and (because) teacher Hua Jian is so-good-at-speaking-so-good-at-singing-so-good-at-writing-songs...
LKQ, agreeing: Mm.
ZS:  Of course when it comes to writing lyrics, teacher Keqin is still better.
LKQ: ........Next question.
In cuts that did NOT make it into the final broadcast:
a. Episode 11, Rehearsal room: Li Keqin gives Zhou Shen a Christmas present aka the one time Li Keqin doing something nice manages to get both of them embarrassed.
LKQ: Before we start rehearsals, here is a Christmas present for you.
ZS: Huuh? Aaah! Why are you giving me a present??
LKQ: Christmas!!
ZS: Aahh??? Do you really have to be this well-mannered? That makes me seem so bad-mannered *laughs uneasily before bowing at LKQ* THANK YOU TEACHER KEQIN.
LKQ: Do you want to open it?
ZS: Then...I’ll just...*takes present box out of the bag* aiya...aiya ya ya.
LKQ: Inside, it’s a frog, who meets Cinderella *laughs*
ZS: Really? ....Is it because of your lyrics? (the lyrics for LKQ’s part in Hua has a line about a frog meeting Cinderella)
ZS unwraps the box some more, embarrassed.
ZS: Why would you prepare a gift for me...?
LKQ: No... It’s Christmas! (ZS, still embarrassed: Aaaaaah)
ZS (to the camera): The...the pressure’s so big. *laughs*
LKQ: Let’s start rehearsals. OK.
ZS: Can I still open?    (LKQ, on the beat: You can.)
LKQ, trying to alleviate the "pressure”: You never know! You never know, this could be a separation gift. If we get eliminated this round, this will become a separation gift. *laughs*
ZS: A separation gift.... *still opening the box* This isn’t some kind of threatening ball, right?
LKQ watches him, does a 'whoa’ sound to give him a scare, then reassures him that it’s not a ball. ZS finally opens the gift and unveils a black and white scarf.
ZS: Ooohhhh
LKQ: Nothing fancy. Nothing fancy.
ZS: Is it a scarf? (LKQ: Yes. Nothing fancy) Really? Thank you!!
LKQ: It’s Christmas~
ZS, pulling out the scarf: It’s very pretty. Ooohhh.
LKQ: Ok lah~ *pats ZS’s shoulder*
ZS: Thank you Keqin teacher.  Teacher, I want to ask...
LKQ: OK! Rehearsal! (ZS bursts out laughing)
ZS, to the camera: Teacher is very caring towards me, and has therefore avoided this question. (LKQ: It’s nothing. It’s nothing) Thank you teacher Keqin!
LKQ: You’re - welcome! Lah (?). Sing properly tomorrow. *giggles*
ZS: Haven’t I done that each time? I work hard each time~
LKQ, smoothly changing subjects: I saw our footage. *still laughing* it was so boring. (ZS: Which one?) So boring.
ZS: Oh! You mean the one where we’re swivelling on chairs? (LKQ: Yes. So boring.) I’ve seen it too.
LKQ: You know, we played badminton for so long, and they only showed a minute of it. Meanwhile, for the swivelling on chairs... (ZS: Yeah, for the swivelling....) They showed a few minutes. *laughs*
ZS: They probably found that swivelling on chairs was a little more spectacular. *laughs*
b. Episode 11, Rehearsal room: Li Keqin explains their concept for the upcoming performance and why he wanted to choose a song based on the visual effect this time.
LKQ: Usually, when we choose songs, we choose it from the perspective of singing performance. This time...Because last episode, we had no stage design, right (ZS tries not to laugh) All the other teams had, so...
ZS: We did have stage design: dry ice.
LKQ: Right. Dry ice. Extremely dry dry ice...So this time, we choose from the perspective of stage design. (...) So I’ve been imagining a grand piano in the middle of the stage and some really strong person playing it, and then whooooaaaa *makes big movements with his hands*
ZS: ....So our stage visuals is this really strong person playing piano?
LKQ: ...and the piano. And at the back........ *still making a big movement with his arms* I chose the song from this perspective.
ZS: Then, will you be disappointed in a moment when you see the stage design? (LKQ laughs and holds his arm) If they see that it’s just a piano with LEDs and someone who’s really strong playing...
LKQ: It’s already pretty good to have LEDs. Last time we didn’t even have that.
ZS: ...Actually we did. Otherwise, it’d have been all dark on stage.
BONUS:
In an interview with Lin Hai (the show’s MC) just before the finale:
MC Lin Hai: If you ask me now who has the best chemistry/level of silent understanding, I would definitely answer “Qin Shen Shen”. Because they’ve gone through 11 rounds -- their level of silent understanding gets better and better. On top of that, their personalities are also very compatible. (...) The one I personally liked the most is “That Sea + Listen to the Sea”. That one was really high-level in terms of difficulty, and to be able to combine those two songs together so seamlessly... it was really great.

Tumblr media

Most cuts from Episode 12 (but not all)
I already translated some bits from this ep in other parts, so this ep. doesn’t actually have too much left other than the songs themselves. This said, it’s also because some of the gems didn’t make it into the main broadcast haha
a. Group entrance - all finalists stand on stage. The MC asks Fei Yuqing how he feels first, who replies that he’s honored and hopes people will like the song they chose.
MC: Now we have to ask our Qin Shen Shen... On this stage, only you two have been together from the beginning to the end, singing all the way until now.
LKQ links his arm with ZS and crosses his legs.
ZS: You’re being too courteous, too courteous.  *laughs and pretends to hit LKQ*
MC: So I have to ask the two of you: Did you set yourself any objectives for tonight’s finale?
LKQ: It’s very obvious. From our outfits today, you can tell we came to study. We look like students. They (the other teams) look like teachers and the headmaster. (...)
b. Flashback: During the charades segment to decide the order of performances, Qin Shen Shen are basically chaining correct answers without a break.
ZS, halfway through the game: Hold on a minute, *touches his cheeks* is our time going to be this long?
c. In the backstage room, explaining the idea behind their song “Hua”.
ZS: This song will have a fairly big contrast. We’re hoping it’ll be a bit more relaxed, simpler and livelier (LKQ: Right)
The flashback shows their on-stage rehearsal. ZS bursts out laughing during the song intro, making LKQ laugh too and say “It doesn’t feel like a competition”. ZS then replies that it feels a lot like Tom&Jerry.
(Back to the backstage room) LKQ, explaining: Because until now all we’ve sang are love songs, slow songs, really tragic ...apart from “Ye Lang”. So I think this song can again, in the finale, allow people to have an ‘Aaah? This is pretty good too’ - that kind of feeling.
ZS: Like “Eh? Didn’t expect this.” It’s kind of doing your own thing, I guess. Everyone is going *mimics the sound of swords and arrows flying* and these two people are like *does a hand-clapping game* It’ll just make a very different picture.
LKQ: Good.
ZS turns to him to initiate a hand-clapping game. LKQ goes too fast for ZS and they mess up.
ZS (to LKQ): It’s the other way round. *turns away from him* OK.
LKQ, protesting at being “criticized”: Heeey! Little kids, alright!!
ZS pacifies him.
d. After they finish their performance of “Hua”, in which there’s a lot of harmonisation, cute poses, and you guessed it: dry ice.
MC: Why is it that as soon as you two stand on stage, there’s dry ice? (ZS laughs and LKQ just licks his lips)
ZS: But apart from dry ice, we have nothing else........ *laughs*
MC: My interpretation is this. From the 1st day you paired up, Xiao Qi Ge has been saying you’re a Match Made in Heaven. Your harmonisation today, it really had a divine and floating kind of feeling, so you must have dry ice/theatrical fog all over the stage in order to match that.
ZS, bowing: :OOO Thank you teacher Lin Hai (MC’s name) Thank you.
MC, trying not to laugh: But the song you chose today really does look a lot like a school performance... (ZS and LKQ: :’D and ;;;; at the same time) So do you want to listen to feedback from the teachers? (ZS: Yes LKQ: Yes, of course)
NY: Let’s start with the headmaster (Fei Yuqing), alright?
FYQ: Alright. (...) Truthfully speaking, if I were to be picking at your small problems, it’d be beneficial for both our teams, huh? (i.e. his and Na Ying’s) *laughs* (ZS makes a vaguely terrified face on stage while LKQ is laughing)
FYQ: But that’d be selfish of me.
He ends up giving some very nice comments, and NY asks to see his notes. NY ends up teasing that what he wrote has nothing to do with that he said (aka the notes might really have been picking at Qin Shen Shen’s problems). FYQ replies with a very courteous “It’s your turn now.” and NY just goes “Alright” instantly.
NY: Actually, I’ll tell the truth, it’s after coming to “Wo Men De Ge” that I’ve truly started to like Li Keqin. (LKQ, bowing but relaxed: Thank you, thank you Na Jie, thank you~) That care and magnanimity that he has for music and for Zhou Shen, I find it really good. (LKQ turns to smile proudly at ZS) Zhou Shen, I don’t need to say any more, he’s like an elf.
ZS (to LKQ): Elves tend to be relatively small... (LKQ: The expression of an elf *imitates the face ZS made a second ago*)
NY: Zhou Shen, under Li Keqin’s protection, had a big surge in self-confidence. For each sentence in which they harmonised, their silent understanding was incredible.
FYQ teases NY about how good she is at giving comments. All in all, NY concludes by saying she REALLY likes the Qin Shen Shen collaborations.
e. Right after Li Keqin and Zhou Shen sit back down after “Hua”, Ayanga leans over to their side:
AYG (to ZS): Let me tell you, for this song... he (LKQ) looked even younger than you! *imitates the way LKQ was doing the cute flower poses earlier on, while LKQ laughs* I even forgot which of you is the elder brother!
f. After Qin Shen Shen’s second song “Your name, my last name”.
FYQ, commenting: *takes out his notepad* The headmaster has made notes again. This...Keqin and Zhou Shen... how can their chemistry be this good? As always. And I noticed that you really do suit dry ice very well.... (LKQ and ZS both guffaw) (...)
NY: I think Zhou Shen’s voice put together with Li Keqin’s voice is...feminine  (T/N: tbh im not sure how to translate this: “yin rou”. I looked it up and it gave me “feminine” but honestly I’m not sure...it’s got an element of being elegant and delicate too, I guess)
ZS: ???
NY, explaining: When you are giving Li Keqin strength, you can have strength. When you have parts where you have to be very tender, combined with his voice, it’s a perfect match. (ZS nods) So the two of you, when you have an opportunity in the future, you should once again make some songs that everyone would like. (the crowd cheers) Also, Zhou Shen, I noticed your Cantonese *switches to Cantonese* is really very good.
ZS, happy: Ooooooooooh! (LKQ, agreeing: Very good.) *speaks in Cantonese* Thank you very much.
NY, still in Cantonese: Did you know how to speak it before?
ZS, in apparently terrible Cantonese: I could understand it but not speak it-
NY: Ah, drop it, drop it, now it’s not correct anymore. Let’s drop it. (ZS cracks up: I really don’t know how to speak it!!)
Not doing the rest but yeah after the voting ends etc. etc. the MC explains that since Fei Yuqing and Jay Chou’s “Qian Li Zhi Wai / Beyond a thousand miles” (2006), they were wondering if they’d be able to have once more, on this stage, a song that bridges the generational gap between singers (the Qian Li Zhi Wai collaboration being the inspiration for the concept of the show) and the ones who would be realising this tonight would be Qin Shen Shen, with their original song “Bu Jian Jiu San”*.
The winner of the finale is announced via the raising of the stage (all 3 groups stand on the stage, and only the part where the winners are standing will raise above the others).
That’s pretty much it from the main broadcast BUT. Qin Shen Shen has quite a lot of stuff hanging outside the main broadcast in general....

* About “Bu Jian Jiu San”..... Idk how to translate this accurately. I read it as “If you won’t meet again, then say goodbye” but that’s taking liberties I guess. I also saw “Leave with no greeting” as a translation. Based on the lyrics which are about moving on, and also the meaning of the usual term “bu jian bu san” (no meeting, no parting i.e. we won’t leave until we see each other), I’d have leaned towards the "if u don’t meet, then say goodbye” sense, like if you’re not together anymore, then stop lingering on it - that kind of feeling. but honestly? I have no clue.
Anyways an official MV was made for this song, and the MV is basically just Qin Shen Shen being Qin Shen Shen, but with slow-mos. *thumbs up*
