Shadow moth redesign. Shadow moth has one of the most disappointing designs in the whole series to me. He’s a villain, fashion designer, and is combining two of the flashiest creatures in the theme, a peacock and butterfly, yet his design barely changes at all. Ladybug got a lovely and different design when she got the bee miraculous and that was for less than a few minutes in a single episode. Shadow moth is supposed to be hawkmoths upgrade to make him more dangerous and powerful but that is not represented in his new look.

First off I gave him claws because peacocks have claws and they are more villainous than normal gloves. I lengthened his coat for more drama and gave it a butterfly shape with peacock designs. His shoes look like peacock feet and I gave him a dramatic peacock collar. I also added actual peacock colors since they fit naturally into the color scheme already.

Gabriel Akumatizes a surgeon who lost a young child on the operating table. Asclepius is born, the great healer. For hours he walks the halls of the city's hospitals, curing everything and anything. Cancer, Alzheimer's, broken bones, all manner of ailments. Then, raising the child he'd lost. Raising others gone before their time. Until Hawkmoth issues the ultimatum. "Bring me Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses, or I will take your powers. Succeed, and you may keep them forever." A relatively short fight follows, for Asclepius is a healer, not a fighter. As Ladybug prepares to cast the cure, she's surrounded and accosted by tearful people. "Don't do it!" "I had cancer!" "I was dying!" "My son was dead, and he brought him back! You'll kill my son!" To their horror, she casts it anyway. As the ladybugs clear, everyone is still fine. "It's the Miracle Cure," she says, "not the Miracle Reset. It's intended to correct misuse of Miraculous magic by people with ill will or corrupted hearts. What we saw today was the closest thing to the correct, intended use of the butterfly in over 180 years." Later, Felix calls Gabriel, "Congratulations uncle, how's Aunt Emilie?" "What are you talking about!? You know exactly how she's doing! I was once again thwarted in my attempt to secure Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses." "I… you… you know your Akuma… like… raised the dead. Right?" "Yes? What of it?" "He… let's see, according to the news sites, he is known to have raised a child that he'd lost during an operation several hours earlier, raised a fully autopsied body, raised someone decapitated in a severe industrial accident, and even raised someone who had just been cremated." "So? The powers of the Miraculous are great, infinite, what is your point?!" "So… you had a guy on the hook who could, and did, literally turn a pile of charred bone dust back into a living breathing human… and you diDN'T THINK TO SAY 'HEY, I'VE GOT A DEAD BODY IN MY BASEMENT I WANT YOU TO COME LOOK AT?!" To get it out of the way, I based his civilian design off of his initial concept art, its spooky and sterile and makes Gabriel look almost fake. Hawkmoth meanwhile...

This shows the first major change to how the shows magic system. If a miraculous is used for evil it will corrupt the transformation, turning the holder monstrous in exchange for the magic. So yes the wings are sprouting out of his head like a zombie in the last of us. Underneath his skin is twisted and scarred,

Character wise, Gabriel's motivation will stay the same up to a point. I liked when season 4 seemed to decide on making Gabriel pure evil, falling from having a sympathetic motive to caring more for revenge than his once noble intentions.

Gabriel starts out wanting to save Emelie, then Ladybug tells him during Heroes day what the wish will cost. Now apprehensive at the concept of destroying all of reality or sacrificing a life he and Mayura slow their attack to look for a way around it. But when nothing comes up she prompts him to give up his quest entirely. Only he refuses, instead doubling down and insisting that he already has a solution to the problem.

After all, bringing Emelie back only requires a sacrifice. They never said it had to be willing, and there's a red dressed heroine who he would love to see suffer.

Hawkmoth 😈🦋

I know hawkmoth neglects his son, is a dirty capitalist, and commits acts of domestic terrorism on the daily but in my personal opinion his biggest crime is being a super villain with a butterfly theme and a background in fashion and looking so incredibly BORING.

He has all the potential to serve looks and yet he wears the most boring uninspired suit with little to no reference to butterflies.

I took away the bald cap, added a ton of butterfly shapes, and just added a ton more detail in general.

I’m very happy with it, I think he still looks intimidating and full of bad intentions while actually having a butterfly theme.

I’m working on shadowmoth and monarch now. I might do a drawing of my redesigned hawkmoth and mayura together.

The fact of the matter is, possessing his fully matured power is the only reason he has lasted so long. In truth, the Miraculous of Transmission's holders are usually chosen from among the most selfless and self-sacrificing of candidates. This is because every time a champion is given power, some of the wielder's own physical, mental, and spiritual fortitude is transmitted to them and multiplied by the magic. There is a reason the Butterfly operates from the background. Normally most of that essence is returned to the hero when the champion is released by taking it back from the butterfly, but Ladybug has been purifying them, and the return is diminished with unwilling hosts regardless. Gabriel has slowly been flushing his own strength and intelligence down the drain from the very beginning Nooroo's official stance on this matter is "he didn't ask."
