a king/button quail for marchirp day 1! this is a promptlist by @elliottnotyet . i will be doing these at a leisurely pace as long as i enjoy them since they're much more demanding than the Fungyn designs. its a comfy zone though, im looking forward to sharpening my rendering and training myself to draw again lol a button quail was at the request of my partner @beefies , as quail are the first livestock we want to get in the future :) they are sweet little creatures!

Hey, anyone have good care resources for button quail? I couldn't find much when I was looking a few weeks ago. We're thinking to get a few when Clover passes, to live in her viv. A friend is planning similar, and also mentioned not finding great info when looking.

they! there turned out to be seven! we only counted 6 eggs when she started incubating but she must have laid another one after 🥺❤️

#I’m so glad they hatched during the storm - I was worried the dry air would be a problem #as chicks can get stuck in the shell if it’s not humid enough #the whole family is out of the nest and exploring now 🥺 #they huddle under the parents wings every couple of minutes to get warm again #three for the female and four for the male. the most present father ever!!! #button quail

Incubation of these little ones are about 17 days. Literally the size of a button, these quail are small but have big personalities.

You can raise button quail in an aquarium filled with sand. They will be very happy and reproduce very quickly. Look them up they fit in a spoon and are cute. They were bred to go underneath parrot cages to eat the dropped feed

Yeehawgust Day 25: Heatwave

Tang and his quailsteed Linda rest in the shade.

Birds can't pant to cool themselves but you've probably seen some with gaping beaks and bobbing throats, its looks like panting but its actually gular fluttering. Neat stuff.
