Still cw for impending pet death.

Somehow, even now, the bup is managing to be extremely himself. Well, sometimes. He goes through long drowsy spells, and short lucid spells, and that's just normal for the process of a creature getting ready to go. But when he's alert, he's such a gremlin.

He fell off the bed earlier today, probably more accurately off the dresser at the end of the bed, and managed to land right in his water bowl, which is kind of on me for putting it there but in my defense I was aiming for "convenient for him to get to" and evidently overshot. My partner and I were mid-conversation and heard scrabbling upstairs so we just immediately both turned and went to check on him, and there he was, soaking wet in a puddle and grumpy as anything about it. We got him dried off and warmed up and he was much happier after that and had a long nap with a soft blanket and some occasional heating pad, with close supervision so that he didn't overheat.

When he's feeling more lucid, he still greets me by saying "h" at me. We got some good headbumps from him, and he stole my partner's buttwarms on the couch several times. He also missed the memo that his legs aren't really working, and tried to jump up the back of the couch (his preferred route), and all he really managed was to hook his claws into the top edge and I caught him midair and helped him the rest of the way up because I have eleven years of practice spotting when he's having a bad idea.

I'm glad we could have one more good evening with him. My partner's taking the rest of the week off so we can deal with tomorrow and take care of each other. And we've blocked off the stairs so he can't accidentally hurt himself by falling, and they're sleeping on the couch with him so he doesn't get lonely.

Tomorrow (today, now) in the early afternoon we have a house call appointment with a vet for him and we'll day goodbye and see him off. It's...I'm not gonna lie, I'm feeling this harder than I've felt any dad event in my life before. But at the same time, when I woke up this morning and saw him stumbling even with his front legs, I knew it was time. It felt impossible until it suddenly felt like the only right decision.

But it still really, really sucks.

I didn’t wanna give in to the KDA mod fever, but this actually looked nice. 

As per shady terms I wouldn’t put the link to them here, but they’re fairly easy to find if you look around. Throw in a tip here and there for the modders and their awesome work so far too, they deserve it.

Screenshots are a bit flimsy because I was messing around trying to find the right emote and filters, if someone has a full allagan room with the ADS lamp and buttwarmer table lemme know. I got a few good ideas for lightning and stuff for it.
