I'm back again with yet another rant about the English course and yes this is about 'Should Wizard Hit Mommy?' and how many of the students think it should be removed because of the misogynistic comments of one of the characters. See I find that chapter really important and interesting because of it's main and direct theme being the questioning/acceptance of parental authority (or any authority in our lives) and child-parent ideological differences. But apart from that there are so many underlying themes in this story like how not everything is just black and white (ie the answer to should wizard hit mommy), Jack's dilemma as a parent, feeling of outcast and being different, how people treat those who are different than the norms etc. As readers it really depends on us on what we interpret and find in these stories and I won't start an analysis here just to save time. It's an open ended story anyways.

Now coming onto Jack, just because he isn't an ideal fictional man and has balantly realistic misogynistic attitude, people demand this chapter to be removed and call it a shitty chapter??? Hello?? What do you want?? Our courses to be filled with fairytales of unrealistically ideal characters without any flaws like children books?? We are 12th graders folks. Jack is as real as any male we encounter in our daily lives and his presence in the chapter does not make the chapter shitty or unworthy of being taught in the class. We as readers are to question characters like him, nobody is saying to idolize the characters and love them all. We have grey characters like him to make us wonder and question things, not to just accept everything being told. Just because the chapters are being taught in the worst way possible doesn't make the chapters unworthy of being taught. Now cue to my last rant why I don't really blame the students for this but our educators. I really like the chapters of our ncert books, they'd have been great if used to their full potential instead of being seen as stories to be read nonchalantly and crammed to get scores. But well...

Today's thought (like I even do this regularly):

How do soulmate marks work on people with DID?

Like do the alters have soulmate marks on their skin only in the... Wait I forgot the word... Internal World! Totally knew that.

Or do they appear on the skin only when that alter fronts?

What about the soulmates that feel each other's pain? Would alters feel it in the internal world?

Would alters just get tattoos where their soulmate has scars in the internal world or would they just all appear on the physical body? (Probably not, that sounds annoying when alters have different soulmates)

For the one where they only appear when that alter fronts, wouldn't it be kinda dangerous tho? Since the people around them will be able to see it disappear and reappear sporadically.

Maybe only the soulmate can see it? But then that's like a completely different soulmate trope. Also, still dangerous.

So maybe it only appears on the non-physical body,,

So like, an alter meets their soulmate while fronting (maybe it's a friend of the host and it's the first time this particular alter is meeting them) and they say the words or touch them and then the alter only realizes it later...

Actually it would be pretty safe, since the alter will be able to decide by themselves whether not to engage, whereas the soulmate will either not realize the words have been said (cause they didn't realize that they were meeting someone new) or just be confused cause despite touching the host before this has never happened so hey think it's someone else?

It could be annoying and troublesome and the failsafe could backfire and make things worse or just not work but idk

As I was writing this, someone just walked into the staff room and yelled hysterically over to one of the Education lecturers "Mark, he's gone! Kwasi's gone! Your prediction came true! You were right!"

Turns out Mark predicted that today would be the day. He has now predicted Liz Truss has two weeks. This seems a fair oracle. Let's see if Mark is right. Liz Truss' removal as a Hallowe'en treat.

Oh good I never did a post on the ballroom, I hate the ballroom it makes me want to explode

Anyway on todays Kingdom of Herz update I made the royal library

Its a big library with lots of room for doing studies. Prince Haze and his royal tutor Wolfgang can be found here most often. Haze likes sitting at one of the various window seats best

The gentle-hearted Wolfgang and the rough and boisterous Bjorn make up the education system for the princes and their fellow young noble men who live in the castle. Their studies go beyond regular schooling, as they’re also trained to fight and ride and take on with the kingdom and all the life skills that come with it. But by far Prince Haze is more enamored with his studies of history and various other subjects, as he goes above and beyond what’s necessary. He and Wolfgang are good friends, and they end up here in the library most often

Not a lot to say about the library really otherwise, its just big. I used to spend most my time in public libraries, so I have a big fondness for them

There’s a more private study on the second floor, where lord Sigurd is usually found skulking around. He’s likely to have heavy curtains drawn over the windows as he hunches over his obsessive scrawlings

Luz Noceda will always be such a special character to me because i relate so. 👏 damn. 👏 hard. 👏 to her fucking insecurities and like. the way she just does not have a healthy sense of morals??? specifically pertaining to herself.

And like the wayyyy its so intimately connected to her negative experiences at school and how she's been treated by the authority figures in her life, especially after her dad died.

She never says it but you can tell the way her school treated her has really fucked her up mentally, especially in her own image of herself. She defaults so so so quickly to blaming herself for every negative thing that honestly is just happening around her in the show. Like belos only takes interest in her because shes the only other human on the boiling isles, and he tries to manipulate her *so* hard, and its so easy for him to hit her where it hurts becuase luz already has so many traumatic and stressful things going on around her (that he caused) and because she's always internally blaming herself for everything anyway.

The way she's so nd coded, and the way she's so clearly been taught to assume she's doing things wrong, in the way so many nd kids and adults are pressured. She has no things she's actually done wrong in the show other than like the one time she lied to amity, and shes shown no behaviour that would elicit such reactions from anybody, but from just the first episode and what we saw in the flashback everyone was so awful to her for no good reason, just for having interests??? and being open about it???? and her school fully seemed to label her as a problem child for it, over the smallest things. I don't care if she was creating some disruptions in her classes thats no reason to treat her like that.

After all of that treatment how could it not have affected her in some way? How can she not think there's something wrong with her after all that? The way she has only ever been shown that it's *her* that needs to change, it's *her* who's wrong, it's *her* who's the bad person here. And it's so easy for her to believe it and start isolating herself because of it. The way it directly has a hand in negatively affecting her relationships too its just ughhhh.

Anyway im not sure where i was going with this but Luz Noceda is an amazing character and the owl house is amazing, and the way the modern education system treats children and the way society treats nd people in general is evil bye.

guys , i know i should be positive and post positive n motivational stuff , but I need to vent .

the school is killing me slowly .

kind , my parents are charging me with my duties and my grades , i know they are not the best , but i'm in 8th grade , the subjects are very difficult n the teachers do not explain it properly .

sometimes i stop and think " i should dedicate myself more to studies to have a life of luxury later " but that doesn't make sense sometimes. I can miss a lot of cool things to stay studying and not work out in the end. Or , idk , i can die before make 15 years and i will have spent my last years of life as ? Locked in the room reading a book about things I'll never use in my life just because a system said it's important ? This don't make ANY SENSE TO ME .

I'm "learning" about union n intersection , God , when i'm going to use this ? It's not like someone is having a heart attack and i'm going to help her with it .

the education system puts such unnecessary things for us learn n simply forgets what rlly matters . How many schools do you know that teach first aid ? Or self-defense ? Or sex education ? I don't know any , because schools want to put useless things in our head saying that it is extremely important to learn , but NO ! IT ISN'T !

I am getting like seriously obsessed with the idea of an AU in which Meng Yao, Wei Ying, and Xue Yang meet as children and grow up to be sworn brothers/an Abhorrent Triad (not sold on that exact adjective but w/e)

Wei Ying doesn’t get found/adopted by the Jiang clan, but a nice older boy who lives in a brothel helps him hide there when he’s scared of a dog and they become friends. Meng Yao doesn’t have much food to share, but he does what he can, and he does have books and that’s worth just as much. A few years later Wei Ying stumbles across a boy who has been walking for days trying to track down Chang Ci’an, despite the fact that he’s practically delirious from the pain of an injured hand. Meng Shi is ailing by that point and maybe Meng Yao is reluctant to take on another brother, but Wei Ying brings Xue Yang inside just to give him cool water and bandages at least and Meng Shi insists they help, and Xue Yang is already nursing a vicious streak that becomes really useful as the brothel becomes more of a hostile place to live.

A few years later, Meng Yao goes to Jinlintai. Gets thrown out of Jinlintai. But Wei Ying and Xue Yang are there to say fuck the Jin, we’re your family, and they swear it in an informal little ceremony in the cheapest room of the only inn they can afford. They go to the Nie. At some point, Jiang Fengmian comes across Wei Ying, realizes who he is, and insists on sponsoring his education with the Lan. Xue Yang is already kind of resentful because being a minor vassal for the Nie does NOT suit his temperament, so not being able to accompany Wei Ying is the last straw and he runs away. Neither of his brothers see him again until he’s slaughtered the Chang Clan—although I think this version of Xue Yang, where he has some family he can rely on from an early age, softens him just enough that he is a little more discriminating. He leaves the children alive, at least, and when he’s captured, his silver-tongued Da-ge can make an argument that he was enforcing some kind of justice.

Not enough to convince Nie Mingjue, but enough that Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan (who accompany the group to Qinghe this time because they’re obvi not letting this criminal’s brothers have absolute custody of him) are somewhat swayed. The three brothers end up escaping together—I’m going to say Wei Ying still ends up in the Wen indoctrination camp because he still managed to piss of Wen Chao, but I can’t decide if it makes more sense for Meng Yao to remain as the Wen spy or for Xue Yang to get that job? 🤔 Anyway ONE of them takes it, but regardless Meng Yao also is like “war is coming, that means civilian casualties, that means famine” and sets up like a proto-watchtower system with the help of XXC, SL, and other rogue cultivators.

Wei Ying still turns to demonic cultivation. Xue Yang still turns to demonic cultivation. By the end of the war, the major clans are still calling for their heads but they’re heroes and no amount of propaganda is going to convince the common people that the Abhorrent Triad deserves death, not after they saved so many of the lives that the major clans didn’t seem to care about.

Hand-waving the end of the war a bit because I’m not sure exactly how the Nie/Jiang relationships with WY and MY would change things, but. Imagining Xue Yang having a full screaming meltdown when Wei Ying dies, Meng Yao can just barely keep him from jumping over the cliff to catch him. Meng Yao asks Lan Xichen to promise that if they’re going to be executed, they kill Xue Yang first, because Xue Yang is practically catatonic and he can’t bear to leave his didi alone, even for a few minutes, not after all of this.

ANYWAYYYYY. I think the class and family politics of these three characters makes for a fascinating contrast and I would like it to have even more angst and love and the particular angst that comes from loving others more than you love yourself thnx bye.
