Painter of the Night chapter 127

Seungho sactificed his freedom to save Nakyum. He begged his father to save his beloved and in return he will be the son that his father wanted him to be. Lord Yoon agreed and Nakyum was set free and they framed Inhun for the crimes.

Seungho told a sick and unconscious Nakyum that even though they will have to part ways again, he did not abandon him. That no matter how much time passes, they will see each other again.

ByeonDuck did twist that knife huh..

My thoughts right now: Seungho will have to fix whatever is left of his reputation if he were to be the outstanding son that his father wants. Are we going down the path of the "arranged marriage trope?" Nakyum's heart will be shattered if Seungho ends up married to someone else. Will there be a time skip in the next chapters? We're in the final season of the manhwa, right? How many chapters are left? Are we gonna get side stories? Will this be a happy ending, a sad ending, or an open ending?

I just want SeungKyum to be happy together (T_T)

Seungho, the man who never cries, finally sheds tears for Nakyum, for his beloved boy, who has believed in him and trusted him to save him until the end.

Does it ever drive you crazy just how fast the night changes?

In the very first chapter, Seungho killed a man in front of Nakyum just because he annoyed him, now Seungho kills FOR Nakyum, risking it all for him, putting everything, including his own life on the line to protect him. The glow up!

Nakyum is a person to who the Joseon society and its legal system full of caste bias would never give justice or protection. How beautifully poignant and tragic is it that Seungho, a noble, gives him both even if it means sacrificing himself? And he does it without any hesitation.

It's not that Min isn't smart - he managed to lure Nakyum away and blame Jihwa for a murder - it's that he doesn't understand love, courage or conscience. He can't comprehend that Seungho would sacrifice everything for a mere commoner out of love. The main reason why he kidnapped Nakyum is because he thinks he is a whore with some miracle bussy which bewitched SH beyond reason. He thinks SH doesn't care for NK enough to risk his life for him. He has underestimated him, just like he has underestimated Jihwa, thinking him too weak, too cowardly and too afraid of SH to betray him. He never even dreamed of Nakyum inspiring such emotions in Seungho, emotions which defeat all reason. Min doesn't even grasp the concept of love because he is incapable of love. It's a folly to think that Seungho, the man who for a better part of his life tried to lowkey kill himself by wasting himself away through drug abuse, booze and sex orgies and let himself be beaten bloody before giving up or submitting to his father, would give a fuck if he died or was tortured.

Seungho failed to rescue Nakyum when he's kidnapped in S2, now his story comes full circle as he succeeds in protecting him. NK waited for him last time too to no avail, now Seungho finally earns that trust, proving himself to be worthy of it and Nakyum's love.

Back then, Seungho was so plagued and consumed by his own doubts and self-loathing which prevented him from believing that Nakyum could truly care for him. His lack of trust in himself led to his lack of trust in Nakyum, and him causing Nakyum even more pain.

He put all the blame on Nakyum, failing him, whereas now he blames only himself, for not being good enough to protect him, yet Nakyum doesn't dislike him or reject him because of it - instead, it makes Nakyum happy to be in Seungho's arms, ready to face with him whatever future awaits him. On a side note, is it the same mountain pass where Seungho’s servants found him after the first kidnapping.

The almighty Yoon Seungho has truly been laid low by his love for Nakyum. Nakyum has brought him to his knees - there he is begging his lover to forgive him for failing him, for coming too late, for making him wait.

He touches Nakyum with such aching tenderness as if he could break or disappear, as if he were something fragile and precious beyond anything. He is cradling his head and holding him lovingly and protectively, ready to shield him and protect him from the whole word.

THIS! 'Sorry' no longer seems like the hardest word to Seungho.

The fact that they are both covered in blood - Nakyum in his own while Seungho in the blood of the people who had spilled his lover's blood, he bled them dry so they could never hurt his boy ever again.

While tears are streaking down his face, Seungho isn't crying for himself, he is weeping for his lovely Nakyum, for the pain he feels and Seungho would do anything to spare him. If he could take it away and bear it instead of his lover he would. On the other hand, Nakyum's tears are his undoing, like daggers stabbing his heart. Because he loves Nakyum so much that Nakyum's pain has become his. Moreover someone took him away from him and hurt him again so Seungho blames himself for failing his lover once again.

For years, Seungho has been merely existing not living. He's been a walking dead, hiding behind a protective mask of cruelty, cynicism and pride; numbing and bottling up his emotions - he didn't cry or genuinely smile - until NK taught him again. Nakyum brought him back to life.
