I don’t think cc!Dream’s audio is meant to make c!Dream sympathetic. It is an audio practice of c!Dream, and c!Dream is known to be an extremely unreliable narrator, especially when trying to make it out that “woe is me, I was pushed to this”. I think c!Dream is definitely sympathetic, however not because he was pushed to this point, but because of how lonely he is and how determined he is to fulfill a futile plan.
So yeah, cool audio, but it isn’t exactly reliable, considering it’s coming from c!Dream. And yes, he can be honest- brutally sometimes- however, I think this is the time he is choosing to twist his actions and make it seem like he’s a victim to his own choices. Humans aren’t snakes, we’re aware of choices much more. Snakes bite to protect, and humans can blow up; can exile; can destroy, but that isn’t to protect.

In this post I want to go over Dream’s character, motivations, and relationships. The goal here is to outline just how tragic c!Dream’s story is. I have to mention this post is a GIANT. I mean it, it is 1.7k words. I couldn’t get too in depth, I mostly did a lot of more general observations whilst reviewing some surface level history of the smp. this post is one giant love letter to the smp, so its just A LOT or brain rot lmao. also i am a dnf account so ofc there is some dnf analysis in there too because of course there is
before reading, please be careful, while I do not go in depth, there is mentions of abuse, torture and manipulation. this post is mostly for fun and because was very in my feels after the finale, so take everything with a grain of salt
The Beginning :
The SMP was created by George and Dream on April 24th of 2020. It was not at ALL a role play server, if my memory serves me correct, the server was made so George and Dream could explore the new nether update. It wasn’t just Dream and George forever though, soon after its creation a few more friends joined them: Callahan, Sapnap, Awesamdude, Alyssa, Ponk, and BBH.
Tommy’s arrival on the SMP marked a significant change. Dream made it clear that while the server didn’t have any strict rules, griefing wasn’t something he wanted. And Tommy did just that. He griefed homes, burnt down Ponk’s lemon tree, and caused general mayhem. After many arguments between members, as well as Tommy’s literal fucking arrest (for killing georgenotfound of course) Dream literally tried banishing him from the mainland of the smp until Tommy convinced him otherwise. Dream eventually stole Tommy’s discs as a rebuttal to Tommy’s behavior. This kicked off an entire new era of its own.
The Disc Wars :
This arc can be summed up with hijinks between Tubbo and Tommy v. Dream. It’s definitely the most lighthearted dsmp arc, and a lot of fun. This is especially remarkable considering that this very arc of the story is the catalyst for preceding incidents in the story and character motivations. By the end of the disc war, after much battle, Tommy crafted an ender chest, and hid his discs away.
L’manburg (Hamilton the Musical) :
There are a lot of key factors with the creation of L’manburg that I feel are especially important. Firstly, L’manburg was created because Wilbur wanted drugs to be legal. which. Is hilariously insane. Dream wanted a peaceful little server and Wilbur showed up and turned the server into a breaking bad episode. Secondly, they wanted to split apart from the Dream smp. Once the war actually started, the battle was brutal. L’manburg lost its first life from Eret’s betrayal (something Eret was tricked into by manipulation on Dream’s part) and the war wasn’t looking good for them. However, Tommy and Dream agreed to a duel.
If Tommy wins, they get their independence, but if he loses, they not only lose independence, but Tommy loses mellohi to Dream. And Tommy loses. But in a shocking act of selflessness, Tommy offers Dream both disks for L’manburg’s independence, surprising Dream. In an even more shocking turn of events, Dream actually agrees, l’manburg is granted its independence.
The most notable takeaway from this arc is the way Dream began looking at himself. This is the point in the story where he really began to be painted as the villain, and Dream wore the role well, he really leaned into this idea. He was ready to play the villain to get what he wanted. He might not have gotten L’manburg under control, but he got the disks. I think that this moment, where Tommy handed over the disks for L’manburg is the moment Dream started getting an idea about the attachments people on the server have.
Manburg :
Dream’s role during Manburg was flip-floppy to say the least. He started out helping Pogtopia, unable to fully contribute because of peace treaties. Dream was one of Tommy’s closest allies in the beginnings of Manburg, helping him grief Eiffel Tower after Sapnap accidentally killed Tommy’s cow, Henry. Furthermore, Dream willingly gave Tommy Mars, Sapnap’s fish, as leverage and helped battle for Tommy. Dream didn’t always stick with Pogtopia, as he later admitted to Tommy that he was for himself and aids Manburg with supplies, but aids Pogtopia with a little bit of protection after Wilbur agrees with Dream for wanting to destroy Manburg. * It’s also important to note that this was when Dream was given the revival book by Schlatt to aid him in the war. Dream ends up going out of his way to supply Wilbur with TNT and also manipulates George and Awesamdude into putting the Manburg flag on their shields (Sam ends up removing it, but George is indifferent to the whole ordeal). Dream continues jumping from side to side, as well as picking a fight with Sapnap. Eventually, Dream dethrones Eret and crowns George. Quackity out right questions George whose side he's on, where George deflects a lot. Ultimately, Dream aids Manburg in the war and the traitor is revealed.
Dream wanted L’manburg gone, after Tommy gave up his discs for the new country, Dream saw just how much power it had over him. If Dream could control L’manburg, or completely get rid of the place that caused his home to become so divided, then that's a win. Even after the war, Dream chased more control, the only thing Tommy could have as L’manburg was being rebuilt to its last life: the disks.
Interestingly, I find Dream’s actions surrounding George really compelling. Dream was able to play out a fantasy now that George was king of the greater smp. George was safe (despite assassination attempts), Dream was always there to protect him… and buy him flowers (? hmm). He could keep this one thing, this one precious relic from a time where everything was perfect, safe and away from everything else. George already secluded himself from most trouble, usually just going along with Dream, so George was the only sanctity Dream had.
(George being dethroned is a bit more complicated to talk about, simply because that really just happened because George didn’t want to be too involved in lore at the time, so I’m mixing my own headcannons in for this one.) I think Dream ended up dethroning George because of all the threats George actually posed. George was leverage that people could have over Dream, he was obviously Dream’s sweet spot because he was one of the only people Dream hasn’t had trouble with. Even Sapnap broke out into many fights with him and was subject to Dream’s manipulation, unlike George. So, George was dethroned and he lost his faithful knight, and wouldn’t be getting him back. George ended up finding comfort in a god that sounded like Dream. George and Dream aren’t so different in the fact that they want things the way they used to be, they want each other. George dreams and yearns for a time where they goofed around the smp, and its clear Dream has always wanted the same.
Exile :
After Tommy and Ranboo burnt down George’s house, Dream was ready to reap punishment. I’ve always gone back and forth on whether I believe Dream jumped to such an extreme punishment just because he wanted an excuse to isolate Tommy or because he went after George. After seeing the finale, I believe it's a mixture of both, but it definitely parallels Tommy’s first imprisonment after killing George. After Tommy covered for Ranboo and lashed out during his trial, Dream finally was able to do the one thing he wanted when Tommy first joined, banish him. Completely isolate him. The big difference now is the amount of damage and change the server went through since then. I think Dream took all of his anguish out on Tommy with all the ways he abused him. Tommy served as Dream’s punching bag as well as his pawn, this was Dream’s best attempt at gaining complete control and he wasn’t going to let it slip from his grasp. I’m not going to go in depth with the abuse that occurred during this time, I recommend reading or watching a much more detailed analysis of this specific arc because I personally don’t feel that I can give this arc the justice it definitely deserves.
Prison :
We now know that Dream meant for Tommy and Tubbo, and the rest of the server to see all the attachments that Dream had in his base. His imprisonment, everything, was planned. It was one giant power flex and it showed just how much control Dream wanted to have over everyone. He gave them the feeling that they had won, only to later take it away from them (should be noted that nothing of George’s was there). More importantly, I think it’s important to address the torture Dream endured whilst he was actually in the prison. That was never part of the plan. Dream was an increasingly troubled character, given more power than any person should have, but the abuse he received in the prison broke him down further. Abuse should not be solved with more abuse, despite Quackity disguising his brutal torture as vengeance for Tommy, when in reality it was just a way to get information about the revive book. Dream left the prison, never being the same.
And everything after... :
Dream continued to fight with Tommy, continued to threaten him, and continued to experiment with human life. I genuinely believe Dream began losing his mind and lost all value in what life means. The three lives system, something so ingrained into the way the smp worked, was completely dismantled and destroyed by the end of season one, now meaningless. Dream wanted one thing, he wanted what he once had, he wanted the server to be one big happy family. He made desperate attempts to keep it that way and ultimately learned that brute force and manipulation got him much farther than anything else did. Very early on, he was painted as the villain, but even as Tommy pointed out, his past self was still in there.
In Dream’s attempt to gain everything he had back, he lost everything. He lost his items, his home, and his friends, he lost the family he had been yearning for. Dream admitted, absolutely broken, that he didn’t want to be alone, yet continued to isolate himself. He genuinely believed that all of his pain, all of the suffering, isolation, everything, was going to be worth it because one day they were all going to leave together and be happy, without fear of death. Within seconds he lost everything, he tore his whole server to shreds, promising himself he’d tie it back together, only to lose it all in one singular moment.
It was never worth it. Dream was at his happiest in the beginning, with George, before the world was pillaged by its occupants.

I'm thinking back on the Inconsolable Differences stream followed directly by the stream where c!Dream wanders around the server and finds c!Foolish’s builds. Like. From c!Dream’s pov these two events make such perfect sense next to each other.
It must have been genuinely jarring for cDream to see 2 people walk into the maximum security base he’s copped for himself. cWilbur and cTommy got in unobstructed and blindsided him with an entrance he may not have even realized was there. He played it off, he took the situation in stride, but after the on-screen interaction with the discs burning and everything I imagine he was probably pissed by just how out of his control that interaction was (and more than a little shaken).
He goes to find the entrance cWilbur and cTommy used and seals it off to ensure the prison-base is safe for him again and goes about his day. Problem solved, won’t happen again. But it had taken him off guard, and reminded him of how it felt to be rattled, and sealing up that entrance wasn’t enough. If he hadn’t noticed that flaw in the structure, what else might be going unchecked? What other vulnerabilities has he overlooked in his base? In the server? Maybe he got too comfortable for a minute, enough to have some tea by himself just because he can and he wants to.
So he gets restless. The whole altercation has left him buzzing with energy for a number of reasons, and it never hurts to run some reconnaissance on the server. He’s just staying on top of things. He finds himself walking towards the first unknown object he spots—cFoolish’s newly furnished nether entrance—and has an array of thoughts and feelings entering this new space. He’s been locked up for quite some time. He knew things would continue to expand and be created and go on while he was locked away, but the Summer Home feels truly out of the blue. And it’s impressive. It’s well done, it exudes power and creativity and wealth and stability. He is in awe. He is curious. He is wary. But he isn’t necessarily afraid, that is, until he comes to understand that cQuackity has any connection to this space at all. Suddenly his curiosity is more desperate. Suddenly this is a hole in the prison wall, an immediate threat to the structure. That’s all cQuackity has become to him in the past months, a threat. Danger. Discovering new information about cQuackity’s network and realizing just how much of a blindspot cFoolish had been to him just reaffirms to cDream’s brain that this reconnaissance is necessary. That one can never be too paranoid or know too much. It’s a self-reinforcing action that he’s undoubtedly taken before and will take again.

I think something important to note about the new audio clip Dream released for c!Dream is we have to think.. what exactly is he talking about when referring to something kicking him? What exactly, in his mind, was kicking him?
I think the answer to that is simply L’Manberg trying to gain independence and c!Tommy trying to get his discs back, which, in both of these instances, c!Dream was in the wrong
But in c!Dream’s perspective, he’s right. In c!Dream’s perspective, L’Manberg was fighting against his authority on the server for no reason and ruining his precious balance. In his mind, c!Tommy was being contrary and fighting against him seizing the discs as punishment because Tommy was, again, disrupting his precious balance
But c!Dream becomes the one in the wrong the second you look at it outside of c!Dream’s perspective. His punishment to c!Tommy by taking his discs, his most precious items, was way too harsh of a punishment. c!Dream was the one to escalate the disc war to, frankly, insane heights. He was hiding in c!Tommy’s walls for days to get the discs. He dug a tunnel underneath c!Tommy’s house so he could more easily access his home, he dug up c!Tommy’s entire front yard in order to find those discs.
c!Dream was the one to escalate the war with L’Manberg. The L’Manbergians had such a small amount of gear, and they didn’t even want to fight. They just wanted to be free. c!Dream was the one who started burning things, shooting them inside their own walls, killing them, blowing up their home, and more.
In both of these instances, c!Dream was the one to escalate the situation to ridiculous heights. In c!Dream’s mind, he had reason for doing this. They weren’t listening to him, so he’d make them listen, they forced his hand! Except, in both of these instances, c!Dream could have just… been amicable? He could have just. Not? There was nothing forcing him to hide out in cTommy’s walls, there was nothing forcing him to blow up the L’Manbergian’s home.
And I think that’s what makes c!Dream such an interesting character. This audio clip only makes him so so much more menacing. Because in his mind, he was pushed to do these things. In his mind he’s the reasonable one, he’s the one in the right. Which makes him terrifying because it means he can’t be reasoned with. He’s already made up his mind on where he stands in who’s right and who’s wrong.
This audio clip was so so interesting to see c!Dream’s perspective on things and how dangerously skewed his perspective of the events are. He wanted control, and he got pissed off when people didn’t want to be controlled. That’s what “forced his hand.” It’s a similar mindset to an abuser being angry when someone puts up boundaries

If there's something I love is seeing how people draw c!Tommy. Especially about his age.
Some people draw him with more childlike features. He looks younger, more "helpless" in a way. You can really see it's a child soldier. Someone who is not ready in any way to be in those situations, but is there anyway with a confident face and a loud voice. It's very visible he should not be there and how wrong it all is.
But other people draw him looking a bit older, looking more like someone who's soon to become an adult. In a way he looks less innocent, even when he's still the victim. He resembles Wilbur a bit more, and he doesn't look as helpless when next to Dream. But here's the thing, he's still a child soldier. He might act like he knows what he's doing, use big words, and act all powerful. And it's not that visible how wrong it all is, but it's still there.
You'll look at him and see this seventeen-ish years old guy, and, in a first glance, it won't feel as wrong. But when you really look at him, that's when you notice how vulnerable Tommy is. Surrounded by people who are more mature, more powerful, and who hate his guts. And you'll start to notice how easily influenced he can be, which seems unlikely for someone who always expresses what he thinks. And you'll start to notice he was never as ready as he says he was. And you'll start to notice how most of the messes he got himself into had completely disproportional consequences to him.
And after all of that, you'll look at him again, and maybe he even looks a bit older, but you can still see it. The child behind the loud voice and the bright smile, holding a sword that is just his size, but will always feel a bit too big for him.

The thing that will always stick in my mind about November 16th is that Wilbur wanted to hurt them. He wanted them to scream and feel betrayed and to curse his name and forget about him, because he didn’t want anyone to mourn. He wanted Tommy to hate him so much he forgot him. He wanted Tubbo to be president just long enough for the loss to tear him up. He would finally be slaying the beast, after all. He just had to make sure that they were all on the same page, that they knew that he was doing them a favor. He wanted to hurt them so badly, all because he didn’t want them to miss him…

What's often interesting to me, is Dream spells it out in the finale and people often still don't get it, so I thought it'd be interesting to see what he was actually referencing here. To see where it all started.
[24:27] Tommy: “That first war, me and Tubbo versus you–how it should have ended–why’d you take it?” Dream: “Tommy, you ambushed me and killed me. You stole all my shit! You tried ambushing me in a little cave–you don’t remember that? I feel like you just–your memory is just–gone.”
So here is the ambush Dream is talking about, where Sapnap and Tommy basically decide to just kill Dream and then kept all of his shit. [Death 1]
He gets killed again when he tries to take back his stuff. [Death 2]
Tommy kills him for fun right after he respawns with nothing. [Death 3]
Then after Dream gets his stuff back (via our boy Punz) and he takes the discs to get Tommy to stop, he gives Tommy back his items. But unsatisfied, Tommy goes after Dream, gets one of his discs back and hides it in the little cave. Dream tries to find it, while Sapnap and Tommy try to stop him. They are unsuccessful until, Tubbo brings them axes and they sneak up and corner Dream in the little cave, ambushing and killing him. Once again, taking all of his shit, (including, yes, the other disc.) [Death 4]
[27:58] Tommy: “Think about that, we could’ve been friends but no because you have to figure out the reason you have to get–”  Dream: “Yeah we could’ve but you–you ruined the chance of that long ago. It was you.” Tommy: “I ruined it?” Dream: “You ruined it!”
And I don’t think it’s unfair for Dream to say that in the finale, because for Dream it’s this stream early on, these moments that started it all. It’s these instances of of Dream getting murdered and robbed and made fun of over and over. Him, trying to not just make peace for everyone, but also reclaim respect and peace for himself. It’s Tommy chasing after Dream when he has nothing to kill him and rub it in his face. It’s Dream, even after all of that, giving back their items. It’s these instances of violence taken too far to the point they clearly pissed Dream off and didn’t care or follow his very simple request of just giving an apology and his belongings back that shape my distaste for Tommy and sympathy for Dream. It’s these moments that I feel like are gone from Tommy’s and our memory that highlight a different story.
[28:34] Dream: “Yeah, we could have been friends if you weren’t a little shit.”

c!techno and food and the rules of hospitality is so interesting to me because he shows a lot of care and love through food. he comes to pogtopia and creates a potato farm to feed his new allies, he gathers dandelions to make suspicious stew with saturation so these new friends stay fuller longer. he keeps food on him and gives golden carrots to c!ranboo when they need it.
and minecraft as a medium for storytelling is perfect to show this aspect of a character, food as a love language if you will, because a core mechanic of the game is food and eating! it was honestly such a small but brilliant character choice and i applaud cc!techno for it.

Rewatching VODs again and it's sad to see how at the start of his imprisonment, Dream was trying so hard to downplay the prison's conditions and stay optimistic about them.
During Tommy's first visit, he says to Tommy, "It's not too bad, right? I can write and I can read and they bring me food." He talks about the new game he can play with his clock.
When Bad visits, Dream admits that Sam sometimes gives him less food when he burns his clock, but that he's not starving because he "[has] potatoes." He says that Sam is "treating [him] amazing" and that he's fine when Bad asks him if he's okay.
Tommy visits him again a month after the first visit, and by then Dream's attitude has changed entirely. Tommy says he's been suffering from success, and Dream replies, "Me too. Except for without the success part, just suffering." Then when Quackity visits him the first time and asks how he's been, Dream only says, "I've been."
Later after Techno gets locked up with Dream, he no longer attempts to downplay anything. Techno jokingly complains about Dream not being positive, and Dream can only think of saying, "Since you've been in here, I haven't been tortured. So I'll give you that much, that's been better." He tells Techno how there's absolutely nothing to do in the cell and how he's been eating nothing but "raw, disgusting potatoes" for the past months.
Dream did his best to convince himself and others that everything would be fine, that he could deal with the prison's conditions. He tells Sam that he thought the prisoner (himself) "would be fine with potatoes, would be fine with not seeing the courtyard." That he didn't realize how bad it would be. But the longer his imprisonment lasted, the harder it became to deal with it. Dream tries one last time to ask Sam for better food and to see the courtyard and then is forced to give up, trapped behind glass and with no hope of ever getting out.

About c!Wilbur in utah.
Obviously, c!wilbur is not cc!wilbur, and the fact that earth exists in the dsp canon is...weird??.
Worse yet, wilbur implies this is his home. The man who complained during the l'manberg's fight for independence turning out to be american himself. It's strange right?
But when you think about it. A minecraft server where Utah exists... that he could call his home..
Tumblr media
Just saying, if his father had a server he claimed as his with a friend. An empire he was the heir of.. an empire where Utah exists...
Just imagine instead of Wilbur, previous president and revived terrorist working in a gas station, it would be Emperer Wilbur of Antarctic empire, previous president and revived terrorist working at a gas station.
This is a level of hilarity I can only respect

Okay i NEEEED to rant about Pogtopia because I know it was a ravine and shit but I need people to consider: lava caves
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(all photos taken by me cause I explored one the other day and that’s where I got this idea)
Lava caves or lava tubes are HUGE super long caves that were carved out by literal lava flows and now just sit there and they’re cool as fuck
they’re cold as shit and the roof can vary from being dozens of feet above your head to being so low you have to crouch
there’s piles of rocks and ice formations and sand gardens and they are PITCH BLACK if you don’t have any lights and they paths can be crazy wide or super narrow and the ground is full of drop offs
ones that are made for people to explore have railings and stairs in certain places too and some even have built in lights or like the one I explored let you rent a flashlight
also a fun sidenote the ground is super hard packed sand full of holes from water dripping and it’s so hard packed that you don’t leave footprints (this would not help with Wilbur’s derealization)
anyways I think this would all work SUPER well for pogtopia cause cold/dark/shifting atmosphere/adding railings and pathways is already a thing in pogtopia
some more images that I yanked from google:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyways PLEASEEEE consider spreading my vision Pogtopia lava cave/tubes for the win I’ve never been more right about anything in my life

i will never get over the way c!wilbur's character explored themes revolving around perceiving yourself through a narrative and projecting conventions of storytelling and media onto your own life out of a need to become part of something greater and more “beautiful” than yourself. the complicated relationship between life and art: which imitates which? the attempt to aestheticize your own suffering in the hope of creating a “masterpiece” that makes it all somehow worth it. convincing yourself that you are a character on a stage and must play your part so you don’t have to admit to yourself that you’re tired and hurting and it’s easier than putting in the work to heal. just. god. c!wilbur’s story means so much to me

Does anyone remember that time cWilbur tried to weaponize the pit against cQuackity in the custody battle stream and he said something along the lines of "Don't trust someone who would have fought you in the pit" to cTommy?
Because I do.
That was fucked up.
Like, straight-up, not only incredibly manipulative, but also fucked up on a fundamental level. Wilbur is the one who dug up the pit all the way back in Pogtopia. He's the one who came up with the idea of Tommy and Techno fighting in there. He's the one who pushed Tommy and Techno in. He's the one who kept goading them on.
The only person who thought it was appropriate to get Tommy beaten to a pulp because he dared being angry at the guy who executed his best friend on the orders of a dictator is Wilbur. No one else thought of it. No one else orchestrated it. Even Mr. Techno "The only universal language is Violence" Blade was hesitant. Not Wilbur though! Motherfucker cheered throughout!
And then, after the brutality and cruelty of that situation, he had the GALL to try and use his own actions to discredit someone else. Because the way he phrased it cannot be spun around into a self-deprecating "you can't trust me" moment, there was none of that. He was straight-up just being a dickhead.
And then people wonder why Tommy didn't trust him after he came back to life and treated him like a ticking time bomb. Maybe Wilbur shouldn't have gaslit, girlbossed, and gatekept so close to the sun constantly!

Have you ever considered the parallels between BeeInnit, the bee, that c!Tubbo received as a gift and c!Clingy’s relationship during exile-presidency? If you remember c!Fundy saying “It’s just like Tommy, just not as annoying” to which c!Tubbo responded with “Just like Tommy”, the connection becomes apparent.
c!Tubbo’s bee being kept on a lead, occasionally poking at c!Ranboo, could symbolise c!Tommy’s deep attachment to c!Tubbo, as well as suggest that c!Tommy considers c!Ranboo his friend and trusts him, despite their relatively short time knowing each other.
c!Tubbo leaving the bee behind, causing it to fly around in confusion and hesitation, could represent c!Tubbo’s decision to prioritise the country over c!Tommy, resulting in a fracture of their connection; as well as c!Tommy believing that his best friend hates him, as he grapples with exile.
c!Ranboo picking up the bee for c!Tubbo to prevent it from getting lost and ensure its safety, could signify the idea of c!Tommy seeing c!Ranboo as his only friend besides c!Dream, and c!Ranboo reassuring him that people, and especially c!Tubbo, genuinely miss him.
And finally, c!Tubbo reclaiming the bee may be a metaphor for c!Clingy’s eventual reunion.

I feel like the appeal of C! Quackbur (to me at least) is just how versatile it is as a ship and the range it has.
You want a subtle rivals to lovers, mutual pinning and longing but one of them is repressing his own feelings because he hates himself too much to let someone get attached to him ship dynamic with a political backdrop? You want longing gazes, knowing looks and the unspoken truth that, maybe, just maybe this relationship and understanding between them goes deeper than either of them let on or want to admit? BOOM. Lmanburg election arc Quackbur!
You want all of that but with more tension, high stakes, mental illness, a very "forbidden romance" vibe with an enemies that have been in love with eachother for a long time but can now finally be on the same side and possibly act on their feelings dynamic (but theyre doomed by the narrative so it was never going to work out. Or maybe it will, who knows. Maybe this time they find solace in eachother. Maybe this time Quackity stops him before its too late. Maybe this time it doesnt end in flames. Who knows. Its up to you really, if you keep telling the story over and over again, maybe this time they get their happy ending here and it doesnt have to be a tragedy. Your choice really). Pogtopia era C! Quackbur!
You want fucked up grief and angst and reminiscing on the past and being haunted by what could have been? You want seeing the spectre of your dead friend (if he was truly your old enemy, why does he feel like a past lover to you) and wondering if maybe he remembers everything you both went through the same way you do and if maybe his heart aches when he sees you the same way yours aches when you see him but you know he isn't the same and you'll never see the old verison of him ever again... but hes here... as a ghost.. and that has to be worth something right. (Is it a miracle you can still see him or are you forever being tormented by what you can never have?). BOOM, Butcher arc C! Quackity and Ghostbur (or Aftermath C! Quackbur as I call them)
You want all of that, but hey. What if we brought back the guy. What if it didn't have to end in death? What if they could reunite and speak again after everything? Would they even get along? You want the culmination of years of pinning, grief, hurt, and mutual obsession? Do they truly love each other, or have they fallen in love with the idealised verisons of each other they have in their own heads? Maybe this time, they'll actually get their shit together and talk. There really isn't anything stopping them now, other than themselves and each other. Maybe C! Quackity finally finds someone who respects him, is dedicated to him, and can engage with him on the same intellectual level in C! Wilbur. Maybe C! Wilbur finally finds someone who makes him feel human and can challenge him and his more self-destructive behaviours while still loving him in C! Quackity. Maybe this time, they get to understand each other, and they get to heal. Maybe this time, it's not too late, and sure, they dont have the healthiest relationship, but they're working on it, and they're okay for once. Just this once. Maybe. Or maybe you don't want that. Maybe it is too late for them. Maybe they'll never have what they once had, and they're both left with bitter hatred and longing for the past that grows weaker by the day as the rose tinted filter starts to fade. Maybe they make each other worse. Maybe the closest they ever get to being close to each other is by hurting each other. Maybe the only times they hold hands are when they're catching each other's bloody fists. Maybe they're both too far gone now. Maybe they've hurt each other too much to ever be vulnerable with each other. Maybe it's just too late for them. Maybe it was never meant to be. You want a joker card ship dynamic that can either end in healing and a happy ending or in an even more fucked up tragedy? Or both! Why not. BOOM. Post revival C! Quackbur
