mickey stood above sidney, her body laying limp as he had finished slashing at her with his knife. he lifted his mask for the second time that night, as he looked towards your stiff body only a few metres away. you had just watched him kill sidney, watching on in horror as she screamed for your help.

you were unable to move forward, your feet cemented to the ground. mickey stepped forward quietly, his shoes scuffing the stage as he held his hands out forward, approaching you cautiously, still wary of your reaction. your glossy eyes darted towards him a mixture of despair filled with something mickey couldn’t decipher filled the tears at your waterline.

he looked over your body, checking for marks, his eyes catching the red streaks of blood, splattered across your skin. his tongue slipped out, wetting his lips as he looked at your face again. doe eyes stared back at him in questioning and to mickey surprise, admiration too.

you looked down to his hands, free from the gloves he had pulled of a a few seconds before coming closer. the red liquid pooled in the palms of his hands, still dripping of the tips of his fingers as he raised them to your face. he held you gently, keeping eye contact ad he smeared stains across your face.

his thumb trailed your lower lip, pulling it down gently as his eyes followed his movements. your breath hitched as your tongue moved slightly, catching a lick of the iron taste from the tip of his thumb. a quiet whine sounded from the back of your throat as he smirked, his eyes darkening as he caught on to your fascination.

his face rushed towards yours fast, his lips colliding with yours as he pushed closer. his tongue teased your lips as you let him in. his tongue battled yours, a coppery taste seeping in from the sides of your lips as he pulled away. a string of crimson dropped from in between you both as he spoke in a hushed tone.

“you know red really does look good on you.”

“Thanks for joining me today,guys.” Beatrice says as she pushes the cart forward, Nicole is inside while the twins were back at home with Rooster. They just fell asleep together and she knew how much he wanted to stay with them,”Roos is so nervous about the ceremony, I wanted to do something for him before Saturday.”

Shells hummed, picking up a pack of golden balloons, “Maybe some balloons?”

“Why?”

“Dunno,balloons are cool.”

“We can start small,” Evelyn then said, looking down at JJ who was strapped to her chest, his little legs bouncing, “What do you have planned,Bea?”

"I was thinking I could plan a surprise dinner for him," she suggested, a smile tugging at her lips. "Nothing too fancy, just a quiet evening at home with good food and good company."

Shells and Evelyn exchanged a glance, "That sounds perfect," Shells agreed, her grin widening. "Count us in. What do you need?"

She hums, looking around the supermarket as she huffs softly, “Well…he loves chocolate,so I’m going to try and find something to bake him a cake? And you guys can-” she pulls out two pieces of paper, “Check on these lists for me? It’s not a lot,really.”

Shells quickly snatches one of the papers, “Ooooh! Fish! Gonna get it! Meet you all at the cashier!”

With Shells dashing off to find the perfect fish for the dinner, Evelyn took a quick peek at the list in her hand. "Alright, I'll grab the vegetables and ingredients for the salad," she declared, her eyes scanning the items listed. "And maybe some wine to go with dinner."

Beatrice nodded in agreement, her smile widening at the thought of surprising Rooster with a special meal. "Sounds perfect, Ev. Thanks for helping out."

Evelyn grinned, adjusting JJ in the baby carrier as she made her way towards the produce section. "Anytime, Bea. It’ll be fine."

As Beatrice and Evelyn split up to gather the ingredients for the surprise dinner, Beatrice couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. She was determined to make the evening unforgettable for Rooster, to show him just how much he meant to her.

She inhales, then looks down at Nikki, “Alright Nikki, let’s get some stuff for daddy, yeah?”

Nicole, nestled comfortably in the shopping cart, gurgled in response, her eyes wide with curiosity as she reached out to grab at the items on the shelves. Beatrice chuckled"Alright, sweetheart, let's find the perfect ingredients for daddy's surprise cake."

With Nicole happily babbling away in the cart, Beatrice made her way through the aisles, carefully selecting each item on her list. As Beatrice navigated through the supermarket, her mind buzzed with ideas for the surprise dinner she was planning for Rooster. She carefully selected each ingredient, envisioning the delicious meal she would prepare for him.

"You're going to love Daddy's cake, Nikki," Beatrice said with a smile, leaning down to plant a kiss on her daughter's forehead. "We're going to make it extra special, just for him."

Nicole giggled in response “Cake!”

“Yes,honey, that’s right.” she smiles as she turns the chocolate bars in her hands to check the weight for a few seconds, “You know daddy loves chocolate, just like you, that’s something you two have in common.”

After grabbing the last few items on her list, Beatrice checked twice to make sure she didn’t lose anything "Almost done, sweetie," Beatrice murmured, reaching out to ruffle Nicole's hair affectionately. "Then we'll head home and get started on Daddy's surprise."

Nicole grinned up at her, her chubby cheeks dimpling. "Cake!" she exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

Beatrice laughed at her daughter's enthusiasm, her heart swelling with love. "That's right, cake," she agreed, her smile warm and tender. "But shh, it's a surprise for Daddy, remember?"

Nicole nodded solemnly, her little finger pressed to her lips in a gesture of secrecy. "Surprise," she whispered, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

“Oh my God, he’s so hot too.”

Beatrice’s ears perk up at a sudden conversation, the two women were just a few steps behind her so…she couldn’t help but pay attention, “Like,okay,so,he’s probably oblivious but I’ve flirted with him so much and he doesn’t care!”

“What? Shut up! What’s his name again?”

“Bradley.”

Oh?

There’s no way, there are a lot of Bradl-

“He’s a Navy pilot. Mustache,tall, absolutely yummy. I think he’si n his forties so he’s a daddy.”

Beatrice blinks,staring ahead as she grabs more ingredients, keeping her ear on the convo and still trying to figure out what was being talked about…and if it was her Bradley.

‘He has kids too,I think three.”

“Is he married?”

“He is but like, his wife is so mid compared to him.” the woman laughs, “I only saw her like once, so. She’s a bit tubby,you know.”

…It was her Bradley.

Beatrice's heart sank as she listened to the conversation unfolding behind her. Disbelief washed over her, followed by a wave of hurt and anger. She felt like she had been punched in the gut, the air knocked out of her lungs. Her mind raced, trying to process the words she had just heard.

Her Bradley, her beloved Rooster, the man she had built a life with, was being discussed in such a disrespectful manner. The women's words stung like a thousand needles, each one piercing Beatrice's heart with painful precision.

She gripped the shopping cart tightly, her knuckles turning white with the force of her emotions. How could they talk about him like that? How could they reduce him to nothing more than a mere object of desire, a trophy to be won?

Anger flared within Beatrice, hot and fierce. She wanted to turn around, to confront the women and give them a piece of her mind. But she held herself back, knowing that it wouldn't solve anything. Instead, she focused on keeping her composure, on staying calm for Nicole's sake.

She tried at least.

“I mean and he’s like, so nice to look at. Maybe I just need to work out in front of him so he can figure out what’s really good.”

She had to keep her emotions in check. She couldn't risk causing a scene in the middle of the grocery store, especially with Nicole by her side.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Beatrice forced herself to focus on the task at hand. She pushed the cart forward, her steps measured and deliberate, as she tried to block out the conversation behind her.

But the women's words echoed in her mind, taunting her with their callousness. She walked past them and Beatrice tried to put on a brave face, plastering a smile on her lips as she looked down at Nicole.

Things she knew:

The fact they mentioned Rooster was oblivious was hilarious, when in reality he was just…happily married.

Secondly, he’d never cheat on her. She knows Rooster way too well.

Third, Rooster was probably the best man in the world. No, not probably, he was. And he didn’t have a wandering eye. She never worried about him because…well,she didn’t have to! He was loyal and romantic, he is still in love with her day by day.

But she couldn’t help but wonder about an…idea.

“Look what I got.” and something heavy lands on the cart away from a sitting Nicole, “I got you guys some saaalmooon,woooo~romantic.” Shells giggles, “And wine, look at the size of this flipping bottle!”

"Wow, that's…quite the bottle," Beatrice remarked with a chuckle, her smile genuine as she glanced at the oversized wine bottle. "I think we'll have enough to last us a while."

Shells grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Hey, when it comes to celebrating, it's always better to have too much than too little," she replied, her tone playful. "Plus, I —you okay?”

Beatrice's smile faltered for a moment as she registered Shells' concerned expression. She quickly masked her inner turmoil with a reassuring smile, nodding in response. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, her voice steady despite the turmoil swirling within her. "Just got lost in thought for a moment there."

Shells studied Beatrice for a moment, her gaze searching. "Are you sure?" she asked, her tone gentle. "You seemed a bit…distracted."

Beatrice forced a smile, her heart heavy with the weight of her thoughts. "I'm sure, Shells," she insisted, her voice soft. "Just tired, I guess. It's been a long day."

“...you just got here…”Shells didn't seem entirely convinced, but she nodded nonetheless, choosing to drop the subject for now. "Well, if you need to talk about anything, you know I'm here, right? Well,me and Ev." she offered, her tone filled with sincerity.

And Evelyn returns just in time, “What’s happening?” after she plops the groceries in the cart as well, “I got you the biggest potatoes I could find,Bea.”

Beatrice's smile widened at Evelyn's arrival, grateful for the distraction from her swirling thoughts. "Thanks, Ev," she said warmly, her tone light. "I appreciate it."

“Mhm…now, what’s bothering you? Shells said something about that just as I got here.”

"It's nothing, really," Beatrice replied, her voice attempting to sound casual despite the knot of anxiety tightening in her chest. "Just some thoughts running through my head, that's all."

Evelyn arched an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "Come on, Bea. You can't fool us that easily," she teased, her tone gentle yet firm. "We've been friends for too long. We know when something's bothering you."

Shells nodded in agreement, her gaze filled with concern. "Yeah, Bea. You can talk to us about anything," she reassured, her voice soft. "We're here for you, no matter what." pause “Who do I need to kill?”

“Shells.”

“What???”

Beatrice sighed, realizing she wouldn't be able to brush off their concerns so easily. With a resigned smile, she glanced between her two friends, her heart heavy with the weight of her thoughts. "Okay, fine," she relented, her voice barely above a whisper. "Just heard…some people talking about Rooster, they go to the gym he goes I assume and…they just, you know,start talking stuff about him, about how he’s oblivious to flirting–”

“Oblivious? He’s madly in love with you, not oblivious!”

“I know Ev,” she says, ‘It just bothered me is all. They seemed really…uh…I don’t know, focused on him.”

Evelyn's expression softened with understanding as she listened to Beatrice's explanation, her gaze filled with sympathy. "I can see why that would bother you," she said gently, her voice reassuring. "But you know Rooster better than anyone. He's not the type to flirt back or encourage that kind of behavior."

Shells nodded in agreement, her features tight with concern. "Yeah, Rooster is loyal to a fault," she chimed in, her voice firm. "He loves you, Bea. And nothing anyone says or does can change that."

"I know," she whispered, her voice barely above a murmur. "I trust Rooster with all my heart. It's just…sometimes, it’s like people refuse to acknowledge the wedding ring on his finger. …that’s why I decided to join him the next time he goes to the gym.’

“Oh?”

‘He’s been asking me to join him for a while now and…well…” she shrugs, then combs Nicole’s soft hair, “I know he’d love to have me there too, you know how he is.” she smiles, ‘...I think it’d be fun.”

Evelyn and Shells exchanged a knowing look, then they nodded in unison "I think that's a great idea, Bea," Evelyn said, her voice gentle. "It'll be good for you two.”

Shells chimed in, her tone supportive. "Yeah, and you can show those gym rats that Rooster is happily married and off-limits," she added with a grin.

Beatrice chuckled at Shells' suggestion, her heart feeling a little lighter. "Thanks, guys," she said sincerely, her gaze drifting to her sleeping daughter. "I just want to make sure Rooster knows I've got his back, no matter what."

Evelyn reached out, squeezing Beatrice's hand reassuringly. "He knows, Bea. Trust me," she said with a reassuring smile. "And if anyone dares to mess with him, they'll have to deal with your very wrath."

Shells grinned, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh, they won't know what hit them," she declared, “You did break your ex’s nose.”

Beatrice couldn't help but laugh at her friends' support, feeling grateful for their presence in her life. "Thanks, guys," she said,”...I’ll keep you updated. Now help me take this away so I can pay for it.”

353. Ken Rolston - C3: The Lost Island of Castanamir (1984)

The third entry in the C series of modules, with C standing for "Competition" this is a pretty short adventure which as you can imagine is meant to test your characters, originally being designed for competitive play.

What this usually means (as it did in C1: The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan and C2: The Ghost Tower of Inverness) is a traditional meat grind dungeon where it's very likely not all characters will survive. Don't let the title of "Lost Island" lead you to think this is some kind of wilderness adventure, it very much is not. From the opening narration you are stranded on an island with your boat sinking and you find a door with some stairs leading down, the surface is wind blasted and inhospitable, which means you have to go down... down into the meat-grinder.

In the long tradition which started off with the classic Tomb of Horrors, you have to survive a number of linked rooms with deadly traps and occupants so that you can eventually find your way out and to freedom. Not the most original idea, but always a fun romp if you don't bring any characters you are too attached to. It is for this reason that the module provides you with premade characters that you can easily send through this.

the strong arms wrapped around you made you feel safe as you cried into your boyfriend’s chest. he rocked the both of you back and forth whispering reassuring words every now and then to let you know that he’s right there, always. your day had been terrible, you felt like everything came crashing down on you that day, like every almost healed wound was being ripped open all over again. but chan was there. he was there to protect you from it all in every way he could. he would take all your pain, would give you a safe space to let it all out. it’s like he healed all your wounds and drew stars around the scars that were left.

more tears rolled down your cheeks as the memory flashed through your mind. it was exactly a year ago; he had brought you to this little bench in front of a lake, somewhat hidden behind some bushes.

it was the place he’d come to and look at the moon and stars when he was feeling under the weather.

now you were here, crying again, feeling like your whole world was crashing down around you, once again; but this time you didn’t have chan there to protect you, you were all alone.

you missed him. you missed him so fucking much. losing him was like losing your home; he was your light in the dark, the one that made it all worth it. without him everything became so much harder, nothing was right anymore.

and the worst of it all?

you never got any explanation as to why he left. it all happened so suddenly, the only thing he told you was that ‘it was for the best’ which made absolutely zero sense to you, so you assumed he stopped loving you, that you were too much to handle and he got tired of you but just tried to put it in the least painful way possible to not hurt you.

little did you know chan was sitting on the other bench that was near but out of your sight, missing you just as much.

Stranger Things and the quantum mechanics of time travel.

How El & Max travel through time.

I always pronounce the name in German that's why it didn't click. His name is Max - the Planck constant. With his work Max Planck layed the groundwork for modern day quantum physics/mechanics in science.

The Planck constant was a clue they gave us to point to quantum mechanics/physics and time travel. Quantum mechanics holds the scientific key to time travel and can even bypass the Grandfather paradox.

The one used in ST is from 2017,not the 80s which on face value looks like a mistake: 6.62607004

However if you split the number in half.

6+6+2+6 = 20

7+0+0+4 = 11

(That numbers, even dates put into an equation will turn to either 11 or 20 isn't unusual in Stranger Things: Mike tries to contact El 353 times, in the first DnD game Will needs a 13 but rolls a 7, Max's trailer number is 56 etc etc)

This split in half leads to another thought I had and others had but only in regards to Henry: that he was split. What if he wasn't the only one and there are two Elevens too, we just know them under a different name and face (I'll elaborate on that in another post)

Max was sent into another dimension & into the future.

Gates react depending on the emotions involved - fear and anger sent Henry into the Upside-down and love and compassion sent Max.. somewhere else. And it's just Max's mind. A gate was open. A mind gate. (We see the door of the Creel house is not in it's hinges when Max is there, meaning for her the door is open)

That's why they have parallels & mirrors. Literal mirrors as Max sees her counterpart, Henry, in the mirror, the left eye "blind" (there are other things they have in common like red & green clothing, a shot of Max in the gym vs Henry in the promo poster for that stage play thingy.)

We see the kaleidoscope before the teleportation - in El's "memory" before the zooming effect, the rainbow on Max's face & in the rainbow room. The most intriguing thing is that two kids use the rainbow as a bridge or road, playing with some toy cars on it.

And on the hand the colors we see from El's memory... It's a birth. Later associated with an electric shock when El is revived by Owens & Brenner.

"And there upon a rainbow is the answer to a neverending story. " - a rainbow bridge. A time vortex as it's called in Doctor Who. There also known as a Bifröst. Through a birth canal.

"Show no fear for she may fade away. In your hand the birth of a new day."

The association between this and "sent into another dimension" is obvious: El figuratively gave birth to or created something? Or at least helped. If not at least in a metaphorical way? . Most importantly Max's mind was send over this rainbow bridge (due to a fact that I noticed later/after this initial post - a zooming effect around El's head after the rainbow sequence) especially bc it appeared in the script during the revival, not before, a new dimension by teleportation of a being/mind. In connection to the electric shock/lighting bolt that can be seen in S1, framed by Blue and Yellow, and in the stained glass windows "eye" and in we have another association with the hints toward the 1.21 Gigawatts.

My Back to the future posts (a bit older and not 100% up to date & remember how BttF was literally in Season 3).

And the teleportation/transportation (as a metaphor) has been foreshadowed earlier when Max is in the hallway with the drawing of a rainbow starting with dots like it's disassembled into it's particles. (Comic book down below as an example of how you can do this in art)

According to an article (link down below) the physicist Timothy C Ralph ".... suggests using teleportation for time traveling, although in a different setting, namely, displacing the entangled resource in time." (This could be a coincidence but Tangled was pointed out as an inspo for S4. Tangled...entangled. The Creel house rose window that shows Blue and Yellow entangled. I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to connect these things. So, this is definitely open for interpretation.)

Quantum mechanics, time travel/time displacement, wormholes (the DeLorean uses a wormhole btw and the time displacement is actually mentioned as a line).

They adapt these ideas (only on surface level), put in hints but basically, they told us what happened...it even makes it possible that Henry ended up in the past, defying the grandfather paradox.

We are talking about time travel via teleportation/transportation into another "dimension" .

Why else use these words in this manner in the script if not suggesting exactly that. (it could have been "when El remembered her birth/love of her mother yet this is not mentioned. Terry is probably just another proxy & Jane Ives just a...disguise). And mind lairs/inner worlds can be interpreted as exactly that: dimensions. I'm talking about Max's mind lair.

And then there was the hint towards "A wrinkle in time" and Mrs Whatsit. Madeleine L'Engle herself was fascinated by science like theoretical physics and like her the Duffers use these for ST.

In regards to quantum mechanics, you need to keep in mind a spin. "Deep inside all matter in the universe, electrons are buzzing around and behaving as if they are twirling around on their axes like spinning tops. These "spinning" electrons are fundamental to quantum physics and play a central role in our understanding of atoms and molecules."

ElMax itself has a visible spin. (credit to givehimthemedicine noticing this)

I give you the Flux Capacitor and it's spinning too.

Time travel however will work more like in "Days of Future Past" in which Logan's future mind was sent back in time into his younger self. Same body, different time. Like sleeping.

We saw for example quantum physics used as a means to travel through time and space in Endgame too. (I use these two examples only to showcase that others have done similar things too - it's not a direct inspo {necessarily} )

Except in Stranger Things and Max's case it's the future: an immediate time jump.

Brenner’s death shows a spin too and Henry is connected to things that spin like mills.

Why? Because that day in the lab, Henry/Edward was not only sent into another dimension but was also displaced in time. (Likely it were two Henry's from two timelines or he was split - the latter more likely. Others thought in this direction already. Same with El & Max?). Like Max was now sent into the future.

3 player draft. 4 packs of 15 each. Take 2 cards each pick. Discard the last 3 cards of each pack. 3 Cogwork Librarians each.

This is a case study in draft parameters. On the spot, I decided to go with the quickest, simplest, draft procedure I could think of. It worked, kind of, but ended up (predicably in retrospect) feeling a lot closer to Sealed than I would like.

There's a whole bunch that goes into what experience you get from a draft procedure, but I was going for quick and simple, and parameters. Most importantly, I had a lovely time with my friends, and I'm glad they had me over to hang out, and playing Magic was a small part of that 🩷.

But since I can't shut up, once you've figured out satisficing draft parameters (i.e. you have a procedure that will give players a pool of cards of the desired size), the biggest driver of "draft feel" is the percentage of cards you see that you get to pick.

Some key limited set ups:

Typical 8 players, 3 packs of 15: 360 cards opened, 276 cards seen, 45 cards picked = 16%

8 player roto draft: 360 cards opened, 353-360 cards "seen", 45 cards picked = 13%

Sealed: 90 cards opened, 90 cards seen, 90 cards "picked"= 100%

This draft format: 180 cards opened, 156 cards seen, 51 cards picked = 33%

There is nuance when it comes to hidden, public, and inferable information, pool sizes, the way drafters influence each other, and so on, but I find this number is a great first order approximation of player agency and the expected level of focus in deck building. Where a draft procedure falls on this spectrum trickles down to deck power, focus, the draft experience, and gameplay.

This draft, as a result, felt a lot more like Sealed, as we had to make do a lot more than you normally would. Decks have more hole-fillers (and conspicuous gaps) than you'd find in a typical draft.

This was my 1-1 (3-2) Gruul Field of the Dead deck. Field came online repeatedly, fueled by my suite of check lands, which felt almost free here. Who needs ABUR duals (especially when you've got no fetches)?

I was leaning to forcing Green, cuz I don't play it much, but ML was taking a lot of the pieces so I ended up here. I was able to power through the Mono-White matchup, with Plow Under sealing off both games for me. Pest Infestation for X=2 was repeatedly great.

As we've seen many times, Sublime Archangel can provide the game-defining clock. SF used it in this 1-1 (2-2) Mono-White build in combination with Angel of Invention to quick swing a game where the life totals had been at 28 to 8 or something.

Elspeth continues providing value that isn't super exciting but helps alter game states. I also keep getting higher on both mono-colour lands, and cards that reward commitment to colours, like Figure of Destiny and Spectral Procession, both well-used here.

On the other end of the spectrum, here's one of the grindiest decks I've seen in a long time: ML's 1-1 (2-3) Abzan Tokens. This machine makes big boards. We got cats, wolves, and zombies going all at once. Grave Titan keeps being a menace that feels just this side of fair. The Achilles heel was the sky—faced up against angels and failing to draw End-Raze Forerunners, this deck ran out of gas.

In my match I didn't have anything that could help me break open the board, and it reached the point where decking myself was a possibility, but Parallax Wave provided a merciful finish.

Really interesting was seeing how much this deck was punished for running 3 colours. We see a lot of 3 colour decks, and with the lands I took to fuel Field of the Dead, ML didn't have the strongest fixing suite, which lead to some disappointing plays for Intrepid Adversary and Wolfbriar Elemental. I love 3-colour decks being viable, but I also like the dynamic of some cards being knee-capped in those situations.

Tyvar got some use, and Parallax Wave wasn't too too confusing. Love that. Wizards, steal my templating.

During that time when the original Captain Marvel was in limbo - after Fawcett Comics had ceased publishing in 1953, and before DC Comics licensed the character in 1972 (before eventually purchasing him outright) - DC Comics tried their hand at having a version of Cap battle Superman.

Created by writer Otto Binder (one of the writers for Captain Marvel) and artist Wayne Boring, Zha-Vam was a being formed out of clay by the Greek gods to battle Superman because they believed the Man of Steel to be a rival god.

Captain Marvel’s magic word “Shazam” was an anagram of the gods and heroes bestowing their powers upon him (Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury). Zha-Vam’s name was also an anagram for the principal gods that gave him his powers (Zeus, Hercules, Achilles, Vulcan, Apollo and Mercury).

As if that didn’t make him tough enough, Zha-Vam was also outfitted with a belt that endowed him with powers of additional mythological gods and creatures just by touching the letters on his belt. Those included:

C changed Zha-Vam into a cyclops with a ray beam eye

I gave him the magic bow of Iris

J gave him Jason’s dragon-teeth, which could become warriors or dragons

M would give him the powers of Morpheus (make people sleep) or Mars (war-like abilities)

O was for Orion’s shield, which was impenetrable and could expand faster than Superman could fly

P was for Pluto’s Cap of Darkness, or the Sun Chariot of Phaethon

S gave him the four arms and swords of Shiva (who is by no means a Greek god, but hey this is comics)

T would cause him to grow to 100 feet tall as a Titan; and

G changed him into a gorgon, with the ability to turn people to stone - a power he totally used on Superman

Needless to say, with all these magic-based powers, Zha-Vam was a tough opponent for Superman. In fact, he kept defeating Superman and eventually drove the Man of Steel off of Earth.

Superman then travels back in time to learn why the Greek gods created Zha-Vam in the first place. He then meets with the oracle of the gods to try to figure out a way to defeat Zha-Vam. The oracle directs Superman to a rival group of gods, who create a belt similar to Zha-Vam’s. Superman utilizes the belt to finally defeat Zha-Vam.

Superman returns the villain to ancient Greece and confronts the gods with their failure. The gods revert Zha-Vam back to the clay he was made from (I wonder if that makes him related to Wonder Woman), and Superman returns home.

This three-part trilogy was the one and only time that Zha-Vam battled Superman, perhaps because he so completely overpowered the Man of Steel and it might be difficult to think up a way to defeat him (a complaint many writers have about Superman himself).

Zha-Vam made a reappearance of sorts a year-and-a-half later in Superman (vol. 1) #214. He, along with the “ghosts” of two other deceased enemies - Metallo and the Composite Superman - bedevil the Metropolis Marvel until he determines that they are not real. The “ghosts” were illusions created by a young alien who was trying to defeat Superman in order to join a super-team somewhere in space.

This issue marked the final appearance of Zha-Vam. I guess once DC acquired Captain Marvel they did not think there was any need for the villain again.
