just watched episode 40 of campaign one and my god...that was some emotional damage...

Four fucking dragons destroy the city, we don’t know who even survived, the party barely makes it into their keep...then they just turn against each other for that fucking skull thing! Grog getting a natural one while trying to destroy the skull but fails because he sees Pike disappointed in him...

And it only gets worse when Allura arrives and practically drops the bomb on them and how both of their party are responsible for it and then keyleth freaking fire family is dead?!?

Don’t even let me get started on the twins they had so many good moments in this ep like:

On the one hand, miscommunication for drama can be exhausting to see as a viewer when the solution seems as simple as "literally just talk to each other properly."

On the other hand I am thrilled at the potential for a little interparty conflict. c1e40 has one of my favourite scenes. I'm not thinking anything quite as dramatic as that, but it would be fun to see Imogen and Laudna not solve things as immediately as "the rock is broken and whatever undeniable sway it held over Imogen has instantly vanished", but instead figure their way through this mess and see where they end up relationship-wise through a small number of RP interactions.

(all the other Hells confused and concerned. these two are the longest standing connection in the group. through thick and thin. but something splintered and everyone can see it. now how are they going to pick up the pieces?)

I've just watched episode 40 of campaign 1 and HOLY SHIT. I know people are hyped about the Briarwoods Arc (which is fair, it's really good!) but the sudden mood change when the Chroma Conclave arrived? Matthew Mercer, sir, it was epic. Also, the scene at Percy's workshop? I had goosebumps the entire time. Not to mention how my view of Keyleth changed after this episode. Up to this point I was indifferent about her (I liked the concept for this character but she hasn't really stand out) but when she casted Gust and yelled "Silence"? And all she did afterwards? That was hot.
