Some of my favorite moments are when the people who asked for a picture or stopped to compliment my work, and their late reaction of "OMG THE MOUSE HAS A TINY SWORD!!!!" I really loved that some people caught that small detail I thought no one would notice.

So I already love to cosplay princesses, but I fell in love with Chiluri's version because they were able to take the kindest and gentle princess and turn her into a total boss. His small details, such as the pumpkin mace, really sold it to me. It's a detail you might not catch unless you're really looking! I was actually really wanting to try my hand at working with foam armor for the first time! Not only was I obsessed with the artist's portrayal of the character, but I thought it would be a great opportunity to challenge myself and try something new.

The process was... CHAOTIC to say the least. I am the queen of procrastination, so I had two weeks to make EVERYTHING. I started with sewing the dress from scratch. Then I struggled to make the foam leg braces (nearly gave up) and ended with the props. My loving partner sculpted each spike on my pumpkin mace for me because sometimes ya can't do it all yourself! I think I chalked up at least 15 trips to Joanns between all of this. Definitely learned my lesson and will be starting sooner on future projects.

Cosplay has taught me to really have more trust in myself. I continuously begin my cosplays thinking that they look like garbage and everything looks a mess. But time and time again I finish my cosplays feeling EXTREMELY proud and LOVING the work that I put into it. I'm slowly learning to remind myself that I do have the skills and talent to make my cosplay dreams come true!
