PLATONIC! J-SQUAD X CHILD READER (HEADCANNONS)

JEROME VALESKA:

Welp, good luck, my friend

- You would be one of his hostages who he was planning to kill. Patiently waiting your turn for your fun death. You had an abusive / less than kind family member with you at the time who had forced you to go there.

- When realizing that you two two were a little family unit, he decides to amuse himself a little.

- " Hey, hey you!" He would yell at one of his goons. " Tye them up to that uhhhh. . . That spinning wheel thing. And bring the kid over to me."

- Tying your family member up, Jerome places one of three throwing daggers in your hand( crowching down if you're small) while kind of just coaching you on how to throw them.

- What a surprise for him when not only do you do it without hesitation, but with a small smile on your face.

- That's when he goes, " Alright, change of plans, I like this kid." And immediately takes you under his wing

- There is never a dull moment with this man. There are plenty of bloody and horrific ones, sure. But never dull.

- Will make you kill the rest of your family members or do it himself if you can't. You're his now, and he doesn't need anyone trying to get in the way of that or distracting you.

- Sees himself as more of a mentor figure to you rather than an actual parent. But if you do end up calling him dad, he's not complaining.

- Takes you along with him for many of his usual, murderous antics. No matter how old you are, even if you are on the much younger side. "Best to teach them young," He would say.

- Praises you a lot whenever you decided to join in on the fun and always makes either his goons or his hostages cheer for you.

-If you're more on the socially anxious side, he'll try to put you in the spotlight less often and leave your killings as just some private family bonding time.

- This man CANNOT cook. He would burn whatever place he was staying out down to the ground if he tried.

- Gives you a lot of freedom to have fun and do whatever, but don't think that means you're allowed to leave or disobey him. You're still his protégé and need to listen to what he says.

- If you are on the younger side, that list of freedoms would be much shorter.

- He would want you around his vicinity or next to him and would make some of his goons keep an eye on you if he was busy with something.

- Lots of physical affection and inside jokes from this guy.

- All in all: Getting a child wasn't something Jerome had on his bucket list. But he's not really complaining.

JERVIS TETCH:

- To say this man is obsessive is the understatement of the century

- Spots you in the crowd at one of his performances and chooses you as his willing participant

- You might as well forget your parents now, because he'll have already hypnotized them to walk into traffic or jump off a building.

- Unlike the other two, Jervis will expect for you to see him as your dad.

- Will plan extravagant teaparties with all your favorite teas and sweets. And if you're not a sweets kind of person, then he'll put out more savory stuff like sandwiches as soupes.

- Hope you like fancy outfits, because you'll be wearing a lot of them. But don't worry, he'll try to find some that you're comfortable in.

- Doesn't give you a whole lot of freedom. Especially if you're on the much younger side.

- He'll also just randomly picks you up and carry you around with him if you're small enough for him to do so.

- Will not hesitate to hypnotize you and tie you up if he feels it is necessary. So you nest behave

- Usually reads bedtime stories to you, no matter how old you are.

- In conclusion, this man is obsessive and delusional. So just sit back, relax, and let your new papa take care of you.

JONATHAN CRANE:

-Well, this is rather unexpected. He never really saw himself taking care of a child

- He met you at Arkham: His cell next to yours. And you two would talk through the walls whenever a day was especially boring.

- After a while, he warmed up rather well to you. He starts to see you more as family in a way and immediately gets you out of your cell when a breakout in the asylum starts.

- Keeps you far away from your previous family members if you have any. He wouldn't kill them the first time per-say, just . . . Scare them away.

- The second time, he would be much less merciful. They had their chance and should have listened.

- He doesn't let you get too close to him when he's working on his projects in fear of you accidently getting hurt. But if you're an older teenager, he would ask if you would like to try and face your fears.

- He wouldn't force anything, though.

- You see him more as an older brother type figure rather than a parental one.

- Agian, if you are older, he doesn't really let you participate in his antics and usually lets you stay home if he trusts you. But will just bring you along to watch if you're much younger.

- A decent cook all things considered. Not the best by any means, but at least it's not a burt piece of charcoal.

- Will sit and talk with you whenever you need it. He's a pretty good listener.

- He can also get really protective a times, no matter what age you are, and will not hesitate to fear gas somebody.

- Not the best when it comes to physical affection. But will give you some if you want it.

- Although you entering his life was unexpected. Jonathan has found himself enjoying your company a lot more than he ever thought he would. It's probably the only thing good that ever came from being trapped in arkham.

Brief and incomplete headcanons about Jonathan and Jervis

Okay, so, yeah. Like I said, there's a whole essay's worth of background info missing here, because it was too long and convoluted, so I've had to simplify things A LOT. Not everything will make sense without all that lost context, but I hope it's still enjoyable.

-So right off the bat, this is the spot where you'd really need all that background info, but here's a very very brief and dumbed down explanation for what was going on with Jonathan before he ever talked to Jervis: A. Jonathan didn't want to talk to people, because they might bully him. B. He still wanted friends. C. Out of everyone at Arkham, Jervis seemed the least likely to be a bully.

-And for Jervis it's: A. He had friends in the past, but lost them after becoming the Mad Hatter. B. Even when he was just Jervis and not a criminal, those friends were hard to come by so... C. He didn't think he'd have another friend again.

- At Arkham Jonathan starts to observe Jervis from a far to try and see if he's niceys or meanies. He sees that Jervis never acts in a threatening manner. Really, he's very polite and seems to avoid conflict. And not even Jonathan, who could be blown away by the slightest summer breeze, could find Jervis psychically intimidating. Jervis is 2/3 his size and clearly not fit. The fact that Jervis is conventionally unattractive also makes Jonathan feel more at ease. He feels Jervis might not judge him for his appearance, because Jervis must have faced struggles in his life due to his small size. He feels Jervis could understand him. And if all that wasn't enough, Jervis spends just as much time in the library as Jonathan and we all know how important books are to Jonathan.

-Jonathan gathers courage for weeks before he actually manages to start a conversation with Jervis. I think Jervis doesn't immediately understand why Jonathan is trying to talk to him. I think in relationships in the past he has always been the one to approach people, because people don't tend to approach him. No one's looked at him and thought: ”Oh, I'd like to get to know this guy!” No, he's always been the one to do the initiate. That's why he doesn't even know what to feel when he finally realizes Jonathan is trying to befriend him, that Jonathan looked at him and thought: ”Oh, I'd like to get to know this guy!”

-Their first conversations are very awkward. Jonathan is very behind on social skills due to being isolated as a child and while Jervis is a little better, he's not exactly great either. Lots of awkward silences, lots of stuttering, lots of blushing, lots of saying the wrong things. None of that really matters though, because they are both very excited to have someone to talk to. Jervis is the second friend Jonathan has ever had in his life and Jervis, like I said, never thought he'd have friends again.

-They both put a lot of work into this relationship. It's not something that just started one day and has been great ever since. No, there have definitely been some ups and downs. I don't feel like writing about any particular incidents, because that would take too long, but I think that you can understand that two people with very little regard for the well being of others might end up hurting each other as well. The only reason that they are best friends now, is that they both wanted this to work, they both wanted a friend and they were willing to put in the work to reach that goal.

-And through all their struggles they have somehow managed to build so much trust, that they are able to talk about even very painful things. They are able to open up about things they have never felt safe to open up about before. It's very healing.

-Jervis might seem childish at first, but at least in my verse, he's one of the most mature rogues. The apparent childishness is really just him not being afraid to be a little silly and also sometimes a guise to fool people. He's a lot more self-aware and intelligent than people assume. It's that maturity that attracts Jonathan. Talking with people like Joker and Eddie can sometimes feel like talking to toddlers with behavioral issues, so it's very relaxing for Jonathan to sit down with Jervis and really talk like an adult to another adult. There isn't a topic they can't discuss in civil terms. They can just sit and talk all night long and that is something they both enjoy.

-Both are well read and both appreciate that in each other. They both have a thirst for knowledge and learn a lot from one another. They definitely have a book club of sorts where they read a book and then meet at either Jervis' place or the Arkham library to discuss it.

-Jervis helps Jonathan out a lot in his financial struggles. Jonathan is always welcome at Jervis' if he doesn't have a roof over his head. Jervis will also pay him for helping out with gadgets and capers, but Jonathan is not particularly found of this type of work. Either he's breaking his back lifting heavy equipment for Jervis or he's breaking his mind being the test subject for his mind control headbands. Jervis pays well though and cooks for him too.

I think what I find appealing about this relationship is the maturity of it. A lot of friendships between rogues will make me feel like I'm reading about 9-year-olds, not 40-somethings, what with the near constant drama and friendship breakups. I like how chill Jon and Jerv are in comparison (at least in my verse). Though, I suppose that that's the exact reason I don't do a lot with this relationship and why it's so underdeveloped in my verse – nothing much happens in it. There isn't much to write about. They're just having tea and talking about literature.

Dr. Arkham sighed. “Harvey, we’ve talked about the language. Before we continue the session, please apologize to Edward for what you said about his mother.”

From his place in the so-called ‘friendship circle’ between Jonathan and Waylon, Edward shrugged, “That’s not necessary, Dr. It’s been nearly thirty years since I’ve seen the woman. For all I know, she could be a syphilitic whore.”

Joker cackled and Pamela made a disgusted noise. Dr. Arkham shook his head. “Edward, please. This group therapy session is meant to foster a positive relationship in Arkham. We don’t want a repeat of what happened in the cafeteria yesterday.”

“We don’t?” Joker asked. “Aren’t we all glad that Jervis stabbed Laszlo with a sharpened spork?”

“You still want us to think Jervis did that?” Jonathan drawled.

“Well he did have the spork in his pocket.” Joker let out an exaggerated gasp. “Wait! Are you trying to imply that he was framed, Spooky? By who?”

“No one’s implying anything Joker.” Personally, Arkham agreed that Jervis didn’t do it, but he didn’t care enough to get the little bastard out of solitary. “Let’s move on. I’d like everyone here to say something positive about someone. Joker, we’ll start with you. Say something positive and keep it appropriate please.”

Joker grinned. “I know something positive! I found out that if you hit Robin in the spleen with a crowbar, he squeaks like a dog’s chew toy!”

Arkham wiped a hand down his face and willed himself not to cry. “I said to keep it appropriate, Joker.” A loud laugh was his only response. Arkham squeezed his eyes shut, internally counted to ten, then turned his gaze to Waylon. “Would you like to say something positive, Waylon?”

Waylon rubbed his chin with a scaly hand. “It can’t be about eating people?”

Arkham resisted the urge to throw his writing pad at Waylon’s face. He had a shock collar on and there were armed guards just outside, but why risk it? “No Waylon, it can’t be about eating people.”

Waylon nodded. “Ok. I have something positive to say about Jervis.”

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Yeah. I’m happy that he’s in solitary and I don’t have to listen to him whine about Alice!”

Joker cackled again, as did Edward, Pamela, and even Arnold. Arkham took a deep breath. “Fine, Waylon. That’s nice. That’s very nice. Now, does anyone else have anything positive they want to say?” Edward’s hand shot up. “For the love of God, anyone other than Edward?”

Joker clicked his tongue. “Uh, uh, uh, Dr. Arkham. Remember, positivity!”

Arkham was positively sure he was about to storm out of the room, call Belle Reve and have every single one of these degenerates join Harley down south. “Fine. Ok. What do you have to say, Edward?”

Edward lowered his hand and smiled. “I’d just like to say that I really do appreciate my time in Arkham. Whenever I’m here and interact with you all, I’m reassured that I am indeed, the most brilliant criminal mind in all of Gotham.”

Harvey jumped up and threw his chair at Edward, who yelped and jumped into Jonathan’s lap to avoid it. Waylon caught the chair and threw it back, sending it flying over Harvey’s head. It hit the wall with a crash. Joker threw his head back and laughed.

“Get off me!” Jonathan shouted, shoving Edward to the floor.

“Asshole!” Edward shouted back.

“Narcissistic megalomaniac!”

“Inbred hick!”

“High school dropout!”

Edward gasped. “Jon! You promised never to tell anyone about that!”

Pamela laughed. “All that talk about being a genius, and you couldn’t even finish high school? Pathetic.”

Arkham agreed, but he needed to at least attempt to get things under control, or else the guards would come in and…actually, wait. Fuck these people. The guards could brutalize them as much as they wanted. Edward was up on his feet now and screaming in Jonathan’s face, and Jonathan was screaming right back. Waylon, Harvey, Pamela, and Joker seemed content to watch the show, Joker chiming in with his own commentary. Arnold just kept nervously watching the door.

Dr. Arkham really, really hated his job.

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

I've talked about some other changes in a previous ask, but I think Danny Phantom could have been improved by either re-writing the episode Memory Blank or at the very least, cutting a couple of the jokes. The base-premise is potentially interesting but it was definitely one of the ones where the show did characters dirty for the sake of jokes.

If I had to leave it mostly as-is, I would at least want to ditch the two random insert jokes where Danny "remembers" using his powers to peep in the girl's locker room. Not only is the base joke a gross, sexist "boys will be boys" gag, it also just feels really jarring and almost out of character for Danny in particular. That's not to say that Danny isn't canonically chauvinistic in other ways at times, but this one doesn't jive with how he reacts to similar situations (and behaviors from Tucker) in other, more character-centric episodes. The abrupt musical punctuation feels more like a sudden insert of Fairly Odd Parents humour and I would say it's probably only there because this kind of "adorkable misogynist" punchline is a common staple in both Butch Hartman and Steve Marmel's comedy styles.

Ideally though, since the main purpose of the episode is to give Danny his marketable DP insignia, I would rather do a full re-write around all three trio members actively trying to design a logo for Phantom. Rather than doing Danny and Tucker dirty by making them into boring butt-monkeys who live empty lives without Sam (and doing Sam dirty by making her seem like a weird stalker who changes Danny's suit without his knowledge or consent) we could have had an episode that let the icon have actual symbolic meaning for the whole of "Team Phantom". It's sad that one if the most iconic symbols of the show ends up being tacked onto a character assassinating goof-story when there were so many ways it could have been great.

🤔 Would you ever want to write something canon if you got the opportunity?

Going to go with a soft no on this one.

For one thing, I believe the best stories happen when someone has a specific story to tell, and at the moment my Deathly Weapons fanfic is the main story I feel the need to make exist. As a mystery nerd, I guess I could maybe do a decent detective story involving Batman or Gotham, but on the other hand I don't think it would be the kind of story Modern DC wants to sell.

From a practical point of view, I also think the things and stories I find the most fascinating within the Danny Phantom fandom would probably be too tonally serious to "fit with the brand" of official canon material. (Although it has been awesome to see some of the Phandom olds getting ascended to the level of official canon creators with the AGiT comics!)

As for Young Justice Animated I think I'm one of several fans who wouldn't mind being tagged-in (or at least a fly on the wall) if DC/Warner Bros ever decided to give it the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood treatment, kick Greg Weisman's Whedon-worshipping incel ass out the door and let some of the prominent staff who were dropped after Season 1 have a do-over to continue the story they were actually setting up. I think there was a lot of potential in that initial cast, and there were some really cool character-centric standalone episodes that could have come from things like digging into Artemis and Jade having a diegetic connection to Alice In Wonderland while living in the same city as Jervis "Mad Hatter" Tech. But as it stands, I found Weisman's multi-season vandalisation of his colleagues' work to be so egregious that I ended up blocking both the main series tag and his name for the sake of my blood pressure. Look, even when he's not writing like the kind of man who probably fantasises about impregnating his colleague's daughter, the Nostalgia-Critic-level incompetence at basic narrative coherence is just exhausting.

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

For today's tasting, I would like to recommend Developmental Milestones and the broader Cor Et Cerebrum series by @audreycritter. Actually, let's just make that a general rec' for all Audreycritter's DC stuff.

I really like their interpretations of the Batfam and Superfam. They do such a good job of capturing the humanity of these characters in their non-cape moments, and I love their approach to dialogue. I think it speaks volumes to the strength of their character-writing that, despite not being a reader who generally goes in for Original Characters, I have become deeply obsessed with their on-call OC Batdoctor Kiran "Dev" Devabhaktuni. He is indeed the light of my life. Developmental Milestones is Dev's focus story but plenty of others put the focus on the canon DC roster if you prefer.

Go enjoy seeing Bruce get yelled at by a deeply affronted, potty-mouthed British Doctor with a heart of gold, though he'll stringently deny it.

A/N: Many binged Gotham episodes later.. Here's this hope you enjoy.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Jervis is affectionate in his own way. Jervis is definitely the man to hypnotize a flower shop owner into having a HIGHLY specific array of flowers whenever Jervis has his mandatory tea parties. Of course you are invited and be prepared to learn the language of flowers. Jervis is old fashioned enough to always be seen with your arm hooked in his, often smiling and showing you little things around town.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Jervis is.. possessive in what he redeems a romantic relationship. Remember Alice? Jervis as a best friend is constantly in need of knowing you, where you are, how you feel, if you want a tea party, ect. He’s borderline obsessive, on top of attachment issues.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

If Jervis is in a relationship and his (S/O) catches him on the couch for whatever reason and sits next to him. Jervis will either; A.) continue whatever he was doing with his head on your shoulder, or B.) stop what he was doing to ask about your day and hold your hand. Jervis is more a “behind closed doors” kind of man when in a romantic relationship.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Jervis is so incredibly talented at cooking, often cleaning. Jervis does not just throw together a tea party, no, Jervis plans and pays for the tea party. His hard work pays off, Jervis finds a weird joy in being a bit of a neat freak. OCD who?

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

This can go one of two ways… He either will be so broken and scared to lose you he hypnotizes you to stay with him OR Jervis will become a stalker finding reason to inadvertently kill anyone who dates you next and find a way to keep you in his life.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Jervis would be intrigued in the idea, however it is a commitment that he would be nervous to commit to. If you convince Jervis that you want him for him, poetic speaking and all. Jervis will absolutely plan the best tea party and ask you to marry him only if you both talk about it before otherwise Jervis would be just as happy being your boyfriend.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Jervis handles others' emotions differently, Alice in Wonderland did not exactly have a buffer for what happens when an anxiety attack is in full effect. Jervis really tries his hardest. Often he will offer to go on a walk knowing that his own mind can get overcrowded and walking helps him to focus on something else. If that doesn’t work he will hold you close to him, trying to explain that you are not alone or Jervis will find some story book to read to you hoping he is helping. Oftentimes Jervis will try to handle his emotions on his own away from most. If you happen upon him crying, or talking to himself Jervis will break down to you. All in all Jervis tries to be gentle but sometimes his mental instability makes it harder for him.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Jervis may not be fond of over the top public displays of affection though if you initiate a hug, he melts. Jervis is at first confused as to what made his beautiful (S/O) hug him but when that thought passes he melts. Jervis is an incredible man to hug, he is like a comforting teddy bear.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

If Jervis feels a true emotional connection with you he will say it relatively quickly. Jervis would have to be sure that you are in love with him too, depending on his true emotional bond with you he may rely on his hypnosis skills to know where you truly stand with him.

“Hypnosis brings out what a person truly wants. I cannot make someone do what they wish not.”

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Jervis is obsessive and possessive, a highly dangerous mix for his personality. If a person looks at Jervis’ (S/O) wrong he would later have a “chat” with the same person. Jervis would hypnotize the person then make them fall off a building, or something similar.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

AAAAAA.. just thinking about the way this man kisses. Jervis is a gentle kisser despite his villainous reputation, his facial hair is perfect too. Jervis is the kind of kisser that leaves you yearning for more while leaving butterflies in your stomach whenever you think about the kiss.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

I personally believe Jervis loves kids. Jervis is a good guy around kids, often wanting to show them his pocket watches and antiques. Do not worry he is not a monster, he is not one to hypnotize children. Jervis knows the curious mind of a child as well as he knows his own, although Jervis is not recommending having a child of his own anytime soon. Jervis isn’t ready to be a father, much less would he be stable enough to raise one.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Jervis is up when the night becomes day. Jervis is up for a minute in the dark and soon after the sun starts to rise over the horizon. He finds a little bit of peace in the simple way the world works. Jervis often has his arm wrapped around your waist in the morning and pecks your forehead before getting up and starting tea and breakfast.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Jervis could either sleep like a baby or have the worst insomnia there is no inbetween with him. Jervis will either hit the bed and crash after his (S/O) falls asleep or keep them both up with paranoid ramblings.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Jervis from the start started revealing things about himself; it was only up to you to pick up on them. Jervis was often disarming about the information he shared about himself. If you had no idea who he was, the sixth thing he would tell you is that he is a villain. Jervis may not be the Riddler but he reveals himself in poetic riddles.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Jervis is a constant unstable mess. If you have him at the wrong moment at the wrong time and he had previously had an incredibly shitty day he would have little restraint in holding back. Jervis is ridiculously hard to anger, all in all.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Every. Little. Detail. Jervis added a little bit less sugar to your tea. You loved it? Jervis has a mental note to add the same exact amount the next time which he is successful in everytime.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Jerome had been making a mess on the streets to inform everyone of the Legion of Horribles' rise to fame. Jervis and you were a little further than either of you should have been from the crime scene. Jervis and you were looking over the ocean, the wave carefully lapped at the sand before the next wave crashed over the same sand and attacked the rocks.

“The emotion of this ocean. This ocean of emotion…” Jervis rambled before he could find the right words, playing around with the more romantic wording. You on the other hand took in his words and the way he stopped.

“You are the first person I’ve ever met that baffles me.” Jervis stated under his breath, you picked up on it and pulled him into a kiss. Jervis’ favorite memory is the first kiss you ever had together.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Jervis is not over the top protective if you have shown you don’t need him to be. Jervis knows you can handle your own in a fight; he will often ask how it went rather than try and intervene. If the fight goes south and Jervis is nearby he calmly walks over, takes the man by his collar, and hypnotizes him to take your gun and blow his brains out. Jervis then quickly finds you, makes sure you’re okay and walks away arm in arm with you as if nothing happened. If you need any medical attention he has no problem hypnotizing the best doctors to take great care of you.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

Tea Parties… Jervis puts extra effort into a tea party between you and him, everything has to be perfect. Jervis presents a gift to you at the end of the tea party for an anniversary. It's a small box wrapped in white and light blue mesh ribbon, Alice in Wonderland themed. Jervis is definitely the type to put extra effort into the small things for his (S/O) and not realize he did.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Jervis does not consider himself having bad habits or at least habits he can break. Jervis’ obsessive compulsive disorder is something that can get annoying especially if you try and help him with a tea party.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Jervis is not concerned with his looks but do not be mistaken, he cleans up incredibly well. Jervis is not concerned about other people finding him attractive rather than allowing himself to feel good about himself.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

You are his Alice. There is no Mad Hatter without his Alice.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Jervis knows how to braid hair, he sometimes braids his own. Would absolutely melt if you let him braid your hair or offer to braid his.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Jervis would not like it if his partner were to tell him to keep quiet due to his poetic vernacular and his compulsion to rhyme. Jervis also has something against the idea of a partner who does not let him play out his real life fantasy as the Mad Hatter. Jervis would have an issue with having a partner who depends on him and forces him to be “more mature.”

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

As mentioned before Jervis can have horrible insomnia this is triple if Jervis is unable to contact or see you throughout the day. If Jervis does not know where you are currently due to robbery for the legion, or something other Jervis can not sleep. It’s nearly his poetic and inability to sleep without you. Jervis will stay up for a week if you have to be gone for that long. If you are thrown in Arkham Jervis will break you out, purely just for him to sleep.

You love them! They...they know you do! They...they know! They...know?

The Riddler: Jonathan Crane was excellent at getting into peoples heads. The mind of his playground, even Edward's. Many learned quickly that opposing Jonathan was not a good place to stand. Jonathan could play Edward like a fiddle at times, given he presses the right buttons at the right time. You were a rather large and easy button to push when it came to Edward's vulnerabilities. Edward was surprised that even as his friend, Jonathan would still press that button. "You don't know me and you certainly don't know them." Edward said icily. "I don't need to. I've been you. I know how it works." Scarecrow scrutinised Edward. "It's always the same." He said to himself. "Don't." Edward ground out. "We've done this our whole lives, different, misunderstood, alone. There is always somebody else who replaces us. Don't think for one second (Y/N) won't be relieved the next person they let in their life was born and acts normal." The Riddler turned, a look of fury in his eyes. "They...love me!" He ground out, furious at Jonathan's words. Despite his gaze, Jonathan continued, unphased by Edward's fury. "You can't love someone you don't understand and if you ask me...they haven't understood a thing about you for a while-" "Shut up!" Edward roared and lunged.

Scarecrow: He noticed how Jervis' gaze lingered on you and it struck a nerve. You had been driving even then Jervis watched. The whole day you had been oblivious of Jervis' lingering stares. However Jonathan wasn't and he wasn't going to entertain his imagination. "You guys coming?" You asked as you turned the ignition off. "One second dear, I need to talk to Jervis." Jonathan said lightly and you nodded, handing Jonathan the keys which he tucked away in his pocket. When you were gone, Jervis couldn't help but look at Jonathan in the front seat who simply looked forward silently. "What is it, Mr Crane?" Jervis asked and Jonathan got out of the car before getting into the back seat beside Jervis. "You want to know what they're like?" Jonathan asked. "Hm?" Jervis knew almost immediately what was happening and tried to get out of the car. Jonathan was quicker ripping his hand away from the handle as he stared into Jervis' eyes, jaw clenched. Jervis tried to look away, shifting in discomfort but Jonathan wouldn't let him. He grabbed Jervis' jaw and forced him to look back at him. "They're warm." Jonathan began, voice soft but his grip painfully tight- a reminder that this wasn't a friendly conversation. "They look at me day and night with love, like I'm the best thing that ever happened to them. It's addictive. Amazing. Yet it never tires, that look. I've given my everything to them because they gave their everything to me. You know why that is? Hm?" Jonathan squeezed harder. "Mr Crane- y-you're hurti-" "Because they love me!" Jonathan snapped. "Because they love me..." He said again. "...and I won't let you get in the way of that. I catch you looking at them one more time and you'll learn to be afraid to open your eyes." Jonathan released Jervis before getting out the car.

Two-Face: It was no secret that sometimes Harvey and Harv didn't get along. It was a surprise when they fought about you. Harvey was determined you loved him. Only him. Harv' wasn't so sure and most certainly wasn't content with the answer. He made his protest known and from there things escalated. Fighting as though only one could have you. "They love me!" Harvey argued. "They love us both!" Harv' snapped. "Don't you get it? We're a package deal. They get us both. They're around because we want them around!" "You're an extension of me!" Harvey spat. "We are extensions of each other, Harvey. We always have been!" Harv' reminded him icily. "You forget who's kept you going all these years. You don't exist without me and I don't exist without you. We both love them and they love us too."

Black Mask: Gossip between the highest and lowest classes was common. The rich have eyes and ears everywhere. The poor are none the wiser...well most people. Very few got the word about just who were listening and when. Roman Sionis immediately took action getting through everyone who dared to speak your name until he got to the source. Rumour has it that Roman's main squeeze isn't there willingly. Instead, they're scared. Roman didn't like that. It most certainly touched a nerve. Truth be told, he was afraid of that but not even he had permission to admit it. After a lot of back and forth, Roman had enough. "They love me!" His eyes shone behind his mask, furious and surprisingly distraught. It clearly struck something in him. A clearly vulnerable spot for him. "Maybe...but I think it'd be more realistic to say they actually are afraid of you." "That's it! You wanna talk so much!? Fine!" Roman yelled. "Eyes, teeth, tongue and then face." He ground out picking up a pair of pliers.

Harley Quinn: "They love me!" She sobbed weakly. "They love me!" She cried louder towards the Joker. Only he could get in her head like he did. Even after it all, he still had power over her. His smile looked like a mix between a sneer and a mishevious grin. He stood over her, leaning down, hands on his knees. "You've always been a hopeless romantic who will throw herself at anyone haven't you, Harley dear?" "They love me!" She screamed. "You're nothing!" Joker bellowed before chuckling. "What is there to love!? You're nothing! You're not a person! You're mould, Harley. You do nothing but spread, absorb those around you and beg for their love and attention. You're nothing without someone else to leech upon! Nothing but an empty carcass. Though a pretty one, I'll give you that but didn't daddy tell you? There really is no getting by with just a pretty face anymore!"

Arkhamverse Mad Hatter:

When Jervis hears this, he is genuinely confused. Blonde hair? Blue eyes? Those aren’t your features (if they are, then…you’re good rip, sorry asdfgh). His perfect image of Alice never pertained to whatever the media saw fit.

No, no, no. His Alice, you…you’re his Alice. You’re special…he adored your pretty eyes, your soft hair…why do you think this?

“M-My dear, what is this speculation you’ve pondered? I wouldn’t change a thing about you, I didn’t think you wondered.”

“But…Jervis, I-I know I don’t look like any Alice…”

“Ahh, that is because you are not any Alice. You are my Alice, purely unique and undoubtedly matchless.” Jervis beamed, planting his hands on top of your shoulders and offering a reassuring squeeze.

You looked up at him and couldn’t help but mirror the giddy smile on his face. His eyes still twinkling like a little bat with pure adoration for you. Only you.

He was nodding along with your colleague when he was gob smacked by your statement.

Where did this come from?

Yes, he’s told you about his co-worker Alice, but…that was long behind him now. He adores you, cherishes you, you’re the main character to his story now…albeit he knows the feeling all too well of feeling inadequate and comparing one’s self to others.

“Actually, dearest, I wouldn’t care for any of those traits. I truly wouldn’t change a thing about you.”

You shook your head. “It’s okay, Jervis. Y-You don’t have to reassure something I’ve already come to terms with.”

“Well, I wish you would’ve run these terms by me. They’re certainly not true…I adore the way your e/c shines when I recite poetry to you or when you laugh. Your hair is softer than any silk or cotton.”

Jervis takes your hand in his, holding it with both hands towards his heart.

“The real question is, who would ever be so mad as to want to change anything about someone as perfect as you.” He brings your hand to his lips as he kissed the back of it.

You couldn’t stop the smile that softly grew on your face. “Y-You really mean that, Jervis?”

“As sure as the hare goes mad in March. I wouldn’t change a thing, I love you exactly as you are.”

Gotham Mad Hatter:

Wait, what?

“Y/N, darling, I wouldn’t change a thing about you…Surely, you know it to be true.”

“Jervis, I-I’m aware how much I don’t exactly…fit into your world..” You mumbled, rubbing your arm anxiously.

Jervis titled his head like a confused top hat wearing puppy.

“My world…it’s malleable, always changing, my love. Your brightness and affection, makes it all the more valuable.”

“You need not these…traits of blonde hair…or blue eyes. You’re the main reason my Wonderland thrives.”

“Even if I don’t look like…the typical…well…I’m not like Alice f-from the book!”

Jervis slightly twitched at the mention of his sister, but he was aware you weren’t referring to her. As much as he grieved her passing, she was a beloved memory now. Not to have any influence or impact on his present.

Especially, not this wonderous connection he’s somehow found with you, like catching a white rabbit.

“Darling, if you recall, Alice, in the story, is anything but typical…so it’s very fitting you’re not like her at all!”

He chuckled softly and you couldn’t help but blush lightly as you giggled along with him.

“There they are! My gorgeous delightful, Y/N!”

P.S. So umm I totally forgot about the friend uhh…they’re just silently rooting Jervis on to assure you. It’s okay they’re totally not being third wheeled, they enjoy being in the front row to witness such romance asdfgjkl

Arkham!Jervis SFW Alphabet

SFW, mostly fluff but - obsession, mentions of violence/murder. Just expect some Arkham!Jervis-typical yandere elements.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Jervis is extremely affectionate. You're his everything and he'll make excessive use of all five love languages to show it. Physical touch? He can't get enough, hugging and kissing and cuddling. Words of affirmation. Everything about you is perfect and he'll wax poetic to make sure you know it. Acts of service? This man is willing to wait on you hand and foot as long as you give him your love. Quality time? Well, why would he ever leave your side? He's attached at the hip to you! And finally gift giving. Expect a barrage of Wonderland themed gifts, as well as anything he finds that makes him think of you.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Jervis is a loyal friend. The type who will stick by your side through all kinds of hell, and he loves to help those close to him. To the point of it being his downfall at times. The friendship probably starts the moment you show him even an iota of kindness. If you actively listen to him talk about what's on his mind(without him having to use mind control), you've gained a friend for life.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

If Jervis had his way, you'd be cuddled up in bed or on the couch all day. He wants nothing more than to hold you and be held by you. Even at the table, he has your chair pulled close enough to his for some teatime cuddles. The difficult part is getting him to let go, honestly.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Honestly, settling down with you is his end goal. Emotionally, he's been ready to dedicate his life to that one special person for years. Stabilitywise, he's got a long way to go, but he's not about to let that stop him. If he's even aware of it. He's definitely better at cooking than cleaning(and better at baking than cooking). Chances are you'll be maintaining the home as far as cleanliness goes(and making sure he maintains himself for that matter).

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

The thing about Jervis is he is dedicated. The only thing that would make him want to end the relationship is a major betrayal on your part. If that happens... The love is gone now and, to put it bluntly, he'll kill you and then cry about it.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Jervis is all about commitment. When he falls, he falls fast and hard. It's true love at first sight and he'll want to marry you immediately if you'll let him. At the very least, he insists on having you stay with him.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

It varies. In general, he's very gentle with you both physically and emotionally. Soft touches and kisses. Tender words of adoration. But he does also have a tendency to get overexcited, at which times he fails to mind his grip. He may grab your arm a little too hard as he drags you over to the tea table and babbles about whatever plans he's made for you today.

He loves hugs. He lives for them. And he gives the best ones too. Arms wrapped firmly but comfortable around you like he may never let go. And to be quite honest, he's debating it. You can tell by just how long his embraces last.

As mentioned previously, Jervis is the type to fall fast and hard. He'll break out the "I love yous" almost immediately. The moment he's decided you're the one.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Jervis is known for his jealousy. He is extremely possessive and fully believes that the world is out to take you away from him. He's constantly on the alert to protect you and has been known to fly into a jealous rage. His anger, however, is never directed at you but rather the people he perceives as a threat to your relationship. If you don't reassure him, he may go off and kill someone.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

When it comes to kissing, Jervis is a man of variety. But the two most common are gentle kisses to the back of your hand and sloppy, passionate kisses on the lips. He's also been known to press a few to your cheek when cuddling.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

I imagine he could get along with kids well enough. He's good at keeping them entertained with stories and simple games. He's not responsible enough to supervise, however. Feeding them too many snacks and losing track of them, yet panicking over something as simple as a skinned knee.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Jervis has two modes for this. Some days, he'll went to stay in bed an extra hour or two and snuggle. Other mornings, he's up bright and early to prepare you a lovely breakfast consisting of scones and tea. Either way, you're the first thing on his mind in the morning.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

An hour or so before bedtime, he likes to snuggle up with you on the couch or in bed. Either way it involves warm blankets, a final cup of tea for the evening, and reading. This can be each of you reading individually or him reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass to you until you fall asleep. As you drift off, he kisses your forehead then turns out the light.

Jervis is an open book. Anything you want to know about him, he'll gladly tell you. He may even tell you things you didn't ask for. The only exception to this are his past crimes. At least the ones committed in anger. He's ashamed and believes that if you knew, you'd be afraid of him. Given his reputation, you probably already know. He still doesn't like to talk about it.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

It very much depends on the situation. In many ways, his patience with you is endless. He believes you can do no wrong, and if you're worried about annoying him, that's never going to happen. But if he feels that you're avoiding him or that you've betrayed him somehow, he's very quick to anger and it shows.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

He hangs on your every word and you'd better believe he's going to remember. You mention a snack you like? The cupboard is now stocked with a year's supply. A show you liked as a kid? You only brought it up the one time "yeah, I liked that show" and that was that. But when he sees old merch for it at a second hand store two years later, he remembers and he gets it for you. You're the center of his world and he wants you to know that. What better way to prove it than by knowing every little detail about you?

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

The day you said you'd be his was the happiest of his life. The memory plays on loop in his head, serving as a comfort in those moments where he can't be with you. When he thinks about your smile, the way your eyes lit up and the soft kiss when you told him you loved him... Not even Arkham can break his spirit.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Jervis is extremely protective and very willing to resort to murder just to keep you safe. You. Might want to try and talk him out of it if the threat isn't all that severe.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He goes all out in everything he does. His energy is seemingly endless and he wants to do everything in his power to show you how much he loves you. This means elaborate dates, fancy gifts, and 100% of his attention on you. Anniversaries and your birthday are especially ostentatious and you can expect wall to wall flowers as an expression of his undying love.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

He has... A tendency to get overemotional when things aren't going as planned. This can range from tears to explosive anger and may result in the room being torn apart and a few mind-controlled henchmen being killed in front of you. He'll need your reassurance that you still love him after such a display.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

There was a time when he was very insecure about his appearance. His peers made sure he knew he wasn't a conventionally attractive man, and mockery of his height didn't help either. These days, he's not too hung up on it. His disheveled state serves as a reminder of that fact. As long as he gets to rock his Wonderland aesthetic, he couldn't care less how he looks(although he does love it when you compliment his appearance).

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Absolutely. You're his everything. He can't imagine his world without you in it. He just knows it would be a sad and empty place, and that he would return to being a sad and empty man.

If you ask him, he can use mind control in small doses to help you kick bad habits.

I feel like it's obvious to say he wouldn't like a partner who's openly mean to him. But also, do not insult him. Not even playfully. He'll assume that you mean it and he won't take it well.

If he's somehow not already cuddling you before he falls asleep, he will be after. He's the kind of man to cling desperately to you in his sleep so I hope you like being a living teddy bear. He's also been known to talk in his sleep.
