Abilities: After gaining skill with a lance and then becoming a Dragoon, Myriam found that she could mold the light in her self to form a weapon, which would let them throw as many lances as they wanted. After some losses that weighed heavily upon them, they also found a skill at molding the darkness as well, learning to hone it under the tutelage of the one calling themself Frey. Wielding light and dark in equal measure, Myriam is a skilled frontline fighter, and would best be described as a “dodge tank” if such a thing were actually a thing in FFXIV.
Hobbies: In addition to learning every form of gathering and crafting so that they can make and maintain all her own gear, Myriam honestly loves dancing and music, and will take any opportunity to do a quick step dance or one of the Manderville dances she learned from Hildibrand. She takes particular pride in making food and potions for people, thanks to their memories of hunger as the Calamity-induced winter caused problems for their adopted hometown’s farms.

Most Positive Trait: Generally friendly with everyone, willing to learn all sorts of new things, generous with her time, and does not stand for injustice
Most Negative Trait: Angers easily, even if she tries to hide it. Also tends to get attached to pretty girls quickly, which always results in at least a little heartbreak. She’s also a ridiculous romantic, seeing romances in places they probably don’t exist, such as secretly hoping that General Raubhan and Nanamo are together.

Colors: Loves dark colours, especially deep reds.

Terrible Fic Ideas #35: Targaryen Restoration, but make it romcom
After a conversation with @tooinvestedinasoiaf the other day regarding the tendency to make Daenerys the villain in fics where Aegon and/or Rhaenys survive, I found myself wondering: what would it take to make the surviving Targaryens into one big, happy, incestuous family without sacrificing their inherent need for drama in all things?
Or: what if the Targaryen Restoration could pass for the basis of a Westerosi Much Ado About Nothing?
Aka: The Daeron the Desired Fic:
Just imagine it:
When Ned Stark learns that Robert Baratheon is on his way North, he decides its too much of a risk having Jon in Winterfell, where any member of the court might see him and see the Valyrian look beneath his Stark coloring. He tells Jon the truth of his heritage and gives him a bag of gold to set him up in a new life far from Westeros.
Jon, still struggling to think of himself as Daeron Blackfyre, eventually finds himself in Myr, where he gets hired as a warehouse clerk for a wealthy merchant. It's a position that puts him high up in the merchant's household, as Daeron's honesty, work ethic, and ability with numbers put him head and shoulders over any who held the position before.
In the course of his job Daeron comes into contact with Aegon and Jon Connington. It's a Parent Trap moment, as Jon and Aegon could pass for twins save for the hair.
After much info dump exposition, Daeron joins the crew of the Shy Maid at Aegon's urging and spends the next several months getting to know his half-siblings. Jon Connington starts out leery of him, but eventually decides Daeron is too pleased to have siblings to ever turn on them.
Daeron has been on the Shy Maid for about six months when they run almost literally into Daenerys in Tyrosh, where Jorah Mormont had helped her escape rather than allow Viserys to marry her off to Khal Drogo. Both join the crew and Aegon, Rhaenys, Dany, and Daeron become one big, happy Targaryen family.
This is where the Shakespearian comedy comes in, as Rhaenys and Aegon have been betrothed to marry, as per Targaryen custom, since pretty much the moment they arrived in Essos. Daeron's presence hadn't perturbed things too much, as he's a younger son - he can become a Kingsgaurd or marry into a Great House for an alliance. But Daenerys changes things. She's the last king's daughter and a purebred Targaryen. It makes more sense for Aegon to marry her while Daeron and Rhaenys, as half-siblings, wed to produce a cadet line.
Jon Connington rearranges the betrothals so Aegon will marry Daenerys and Daeron will marry Rhaenys in 300, when both boys turn 17.
The problem is: Aegon and Rhaenys are in love. They have been pretty much all their lives. Daenerys and Daeron aren't quite there yet, but it was something like love at first sight for them.
What follows is both tragic and comedic. Each of the betrothed pairs tries to come to terms with their betrothals, but ultimately all parties are dissatisfied but decide to make a good show of it for the sake of family unity. Aegon pines hopelessly for Rhaenys, but thinks Daeron is in love with her so says nothing because he wants his brother to be happy; Dany loves Daeron, but thinks he loves Rhaenys and only wants his happiness, &c.
This goes round in circles for a while before Rhaenys can't take it anymore and confesses to Aegon that she would rather marry him. This is about the same time Daeron does the same with Daenerys. But rather than solve anything, this just makes things worse because both pairs are committed only to loving each other from afar so as to assure their betrotheds' happiness and honor their agreements.
This too goes on for a while before the truth finally comes out. Aegon marries Rhaenys and Daeron marries Daenerys in a double ceremony.
Meanwhile, things are going pretty much per canon over in Westeros - although Robb managed to survive the Red Wedding, even if his mother and wife did not. The Targaryens use this chance to retake Dragonstone, and once there Dany's dragon eggs finally hatch - three eggs, but four dragons as Drogon has a twin here. (They're also given different names here, dealer's choice.)
The Targaryens reconquer Westeros. Aegon and Rhaenys take the Iron throne. Dany and Daeron become Lords of Highgarden after recreating the Field of Fire with the Tyrells. And, as with any Shakespearean comedy, the lovers live happily ever after.
Bonuses include: 1) Daeron fully believing he's a Blackfyre, and thus unworthy of his family's love, until the evidence of his parent's marriage is practically shoved right under his nose; 2) The many complexities of Targaryen family dynamics, even when everyone involved loves all the other members of their family and no one is trying to steal anyone's crown and/or spouse; 3) All of Westeros firmly believing that Aegon, Rhaenys, Dany, and Daeron have some convoluted polyamorous relationship going on and are only pretending to be two separate couples to keep the Faith off their back.

Honestly though, if people think C*ersei's resentment towards Bri*enne is because she feels Bri*enne is some kind of threat to her relationship with Ja*ime, they're not paying attention. Like thats the kind of narrative that's pushed by FanFics but isn't actually rooted in the text.

and im saying this, because C*ersei's Resentment is rooted in something much deeper than her being some sort of reproductive threat. She can't stand Bri*enne because she wants to be her.
C*ersei hates nearly all women, save for Myr*cella. because in her opinion women are; Little sneaks, the lot of them. Vapid, weepy creatures. & Women are always the cruelest towards other women.
but not only does Bri*enne have the audacity to not FIT this view on women, she also represents everything C*ersei WISHES she could have been.
C*ersei has spend her whole life trapped in the purgatory of Performative Femininity. a role which she is very ill suited for, save for her appearance. She's not a Gentle Mother, nor a Fair maiden, C*ersei has the heart of a WARRIOR. and she's been denied living that truth, for the past 36 years.
And Bri*enne just vales into her life dressed in men's armor. Dressed the way C*ersei sees an idealist version of herself. and she dares to not even TRY at performing the traditional role of women. Who does she think she is?

Free of the male Gaze, she has the Strength to FIGHT for herself. and these are things C*ersei has previously been told was unattainable. and so to preserve her sense of self. and protect herself from this injustice. she Hates Bri*enne, and she Others her, Turns her into some form of Grotesque monster in her mind. but it's got nothing to do with Bri*enne and Jai*me's connection at all.
In a lot of ways, its quite similar to how Jai*me idealizes Bri*enne because she's a true knight.

VEGOILS-Palm oil eases but set to post fourth weekly gain KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell on Friday, but were set for a fourth straight weekly gain on concerns over extreme weather conditions affecting yields. The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for May delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 9 ringgit, or 0.21%, to 4,286 ringgit ($911.72) by midday. The contract has gained 4.69% so far this week. Weather concerns and lower yields are the two main catalysts behind the recent rally in Malaysian palm oil futures, said Paramalingam Supramaniam, director at Selangor-based brokerage Pelindung Bestari. "Overall, supply constraints are still visible in the palm market, and until we sight a significant recovery, prices will continue to remain resilient," Supramaniam. Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 edged up 0.28%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 gained 1.17%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 0.04%. Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market. Oil prices edged lower on Friday but were on track to gain nearly 4% for the week as sharp declines in U.S. crude and fuel inventories, drone strikes on Russian refineries and a rise in energy demand forecasts buoyed prices. Weaker crude oil futures make palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock. The Malaysian ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, fell 0.34% against the dollar, making the commodity less expensive for buyers holding the foreign currency. Malaysia's palm oil stocks at the end of February dwindled to their lowest in seven months as production hit a 10-month low, offsetting the slowdown in exports. Astronomers working with TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) have discovered a planet that’s been left out in the Sun too long. Or at least half of it has. The newly discovered planet is tidally locked to its star, and one side is completely molten. The new planet was discovered orbiting a star named HD 63433. The star is young, only about 400 million years old, and it’s about the same mass and radius as the Sun. It’s also a G-type star like our Sun. The planet is named HD 63433 d, and it’s the third planet found in the system, though the other two were found a couple of years ago. It’s rocky and about the same size as Earth, but that’s where the similarities end. HD 63433 d is less than 500 million years old. That puts it in a particular category since of the thousands of confirmed exoplanets we’ve found, only 50 are estimated to be less than half a billion years old. It’s also the smallest Earth-like planet found this close to us. It orbits its star in about 4.2 days and is about eight times closer to its star than Mercury is to the Sun. The result? The side of the planet that faces the star gets no reprieve from the star’s powerful radiation. The planet’s dayside reaches 1,257 C (2,294 F.) That means it’s blistering hot lava and will likely spend billions of years in this state. This rules out any potential habitability, and habitability is the holy grail of exoplanet research. But HD 63433 d is more than just another lifeless exoplanet. It’s a valuable piece of the puzzle in the quest to understand how planets form and evolve. This type of planet is such an important target in science that TESS has an entire project aimed at them: THYME. The discovery is presented in a new paper titled “TESS Hunt for Young and Maturing Exoplanets (THYME). XI. An Earth-sized Planet Orbiting a Nearby, Solar-like Host in the 400 Myr Ursa Major Moving Group.” It was published in The Astronomical Journal and presented in a Jan. 10 presentation at the 2024 American Astronomical Society Meeting. The lead author is Benjamin Capistrant, a graduate student in astronomy at the University of Florida. “Young terrestrial worlds are critical test beds to constrain prevailing theories of planetary formation and evolution,” the authors write. The fact that HD 63433 d is half lava doesn’t change that. Studying it will help planetary scientists study atmospheric loss. The first few hundred million years in the life of a planet is critical. Young solar systems are dynamic places. Collisions between planets and gravitational interactions can force planets to migrate or follow eccentric orbits. There are also abundant impacts by asteroids and planetesimals, which can go on for a long time. In regions of dense star formation, neighbouring stars can even affect the planets in nearby systems. “Detailed observations of planetary systems in such environments are, therefore, crucial to understanding the general formation history of the exoplanet population,” the authors explain. It comes down to exoplanet atmospheres. “Currently, one of the most important inquiries in exoplanet science is understanding in which circumstances planets keep or lose their thick primordial hydrogen/helium atmospheres and what physical processes drive this phenomenon,” the authors write. There’s a mass gap in the radius distribution of small exoplanets that scientists refer to as the small planet radius gap. For some reason, there’s a scarcity of small planets between about 1.5 and 2 times Earth’s radius. There’s no reason to think that planets don’t form at these radii, so scientists believe planets lose mass and end up smaller. [Fulton et al. 2017] Planetary scientists aren’t sure what drives the mass loss that creates the gap, but two primary mechanisms could be responsible. One is extreme ultraviolet photoevaporation. Young stars emit powerful UV radiation that can drive the atmosphere away from a planet into space. The other mechanism is core-powered mass loss. With this mechanism, the luminosity of the cooling planetary core provides the energy for atmospheric loss. These cores start out hot due to their assembly and formation, as the gravitational energy that binds them together is converted into heat. As the cores cool, the heat can drive away the atmosphere. These mechanisms work on different time scales, and that’s why the youthful HD 63433 d is such a compelling subject for study. Since its radius is below the radius gap, it’s likely rocky. But if mass loss takes longer than 500 million years, it could still have a thick atmosphere. “Because Earth-sized planets orbiting young, Sun-like stars have so far been difficult to detect, HD 63433 d presents a particularly compelling case study for atmospheric investigations of close-orbiting Earth-sized planets,” write the authors. This discovery is important because the planet is such a valuable target for future, more detailed observations of its atmosphere. “It would be valuable to interrogate the planet’s mass using precise radial velocities and determine whether the composition is indeed rocky, as expected based on observations of older planets,” the researchers explain. The first step is confirming that HD 63433 d is, in fact, a rocky planet. The JWST has a role to play in this, as its MIRI instrument has already been used to capture the thermal emissions of rocky exoplanets. These measurements provide a benchmark astronomers can use to compare JWST observations of HD 63433 d with other rocky planets. “Moreover, the star’s unusual brightness should provide plenty of photons to make these sensitive measurements,” the authors write. Most rocky planets, Earth included, are magma ocean planets after they initially form. Repeated impacts keep the planet’s surface molten. But some, like HD 63433 d, remain half-molten for billions of years. That may doom them to eternal lifelessness, but as this research shows, they have much to tell us.
