Bruce Banner got shipped off to space after AoU because the Russos knew the entire plot for Civil War would fall apart if Bruce had been with the Avengers when Thaddeus Ross of all people walked through that door claiming the Accords were about "oversight and accountability."

If his score doesn't play during "Captain America 4" or Season 2 of "TFATWS", I'll fight Kevin Feige myself! 😠🖤💜

au where Loki never thought to steal the throne from Odin, so after TDW, he thinks his only two options are to go back to the dungeon or to flee and hope Heimdall doesn't catch him, and, naturally, he chooses the latter. so he ends up on Earth disguised as a little black cat, and one day, a stranger takes an interest in him, leaving him food and water and taking care of him from afar. and one day the stranger walks by in the middle of a storm and sees Lokitty out there and decides to take him in, and he and Loki become really close. they're the only friend the other has, so it works out well.
... it works out less well when Steve Rogers breaks into their home because Loki's new friend is apparently a century-old trained assassin who's been framed for a hit job he never committed.
and at some point while they're escaping from all the soldiers breaking into the building, Loki shifts back into his Aesir form to grab a guy who's dangerously close to killing Bucky, and that's the story of how Loki gets dragged into Captain America: Civil War
