Caius having a long-term mate

One thing is certain: the other two kings respect Caius' mate. The majority of the vampires in the palazzo have been turned much later in time and are not as old as the kings themselves, but Caius' mate has been there with them from the start. It would be difficult to break that bond.

I can imagine his beloved being the one that urged him to create more artworks when he first started out painting. They would watch him try out various mediums over the centuries and still manage to create something beautiful.

Same goes for Caius. If his mate is particularly interested in something artistic, he would encourage them to pursue it. Money is no objective after all. He would watch them get better and better over time and smile to himself, knowing that he was their biggest supporter.

The guards respect all of their masters, but they have a special fondness for the old couple. It seems as though they are constantly filled with wonder as they watch them walk down the hallways.

However, things were very different in the early years of their relationship. It took a lot of time to form the Volturi and continually be at odds with the other covens, and the couple barely had time for each other. And yet even in those times, they found solace in each other's arms.

Caius' partner has most likely seen most of the world's wonders alongside him. He enjoys traveling and usually takes his partner with him. So, indeed, they have spent their eternal lives discovering Earth's wonders. They traveled to numerous locations over the years that have now been destroyed.

I would guess that Caius' mate was fluent in several languages, as are all of the Volturi masters. That would imply that they enjoy conversing in other languages. Sometimes they would speak in multiple languages at once. Caius could start the conversation in german, and his mate could continue in turkish. They would understand each other of course.

While most of the time Caius would stick to the classic petnames (like love, dear, darling, etc.), he might give them a nickname in another language.

He is a fantastic chess player and would definitely convince his beloved to play with him. The problem is that he's really competitive. So he would do his best to beat them in the game.

They have also met many of the great artists of all time together. Da Vinci, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rembrandt? They have all seen them from at least a distance.

Caius would paint so many portraits of his mate. There is now a whole room filled with the works he painted throughout the years. Even though it's typically shut off from the other inhabitants, his beloved is always welcome there.

On nights when Caius is very sentimental, he would tell his mate how their features remind him of various things. Like their eyes remind him of the finest pomegranate, their hair of the darkness of night/the familiarity of a wheat field/the trees of the forest/etc. He always describes it in a way that would make poets jealous.

The two have such a deep understanding of each other. They don't even need to communicate in words, because they have both picked up on the other's mannerisms. Caius really appreciates having found his mate so early because he cannot imagine his immortal life without this connection and understanding.

All I can say is that this is a beautiful relationship.

Well, I am a firm believer in the fact that Caius at one point had to 'hunt/chase' Athenodora early on on their courtship too. Spoiler alert; he did not accept her as a mate at the beginning and when he finally came around she proudly proclaimed he had to work for it in order to gain her companionship. It probably took them a couple of decades before they would both call one another husband and wife.

However, in order to elaborate some more and have fun with the character; I will pretend he has decided to hunt/chase a vampire in this day and age—with all of The Volturi's power at his disposal.

There is a part of Caius he tries to bury beneath a veneer of being the most serious out of the kings, a part of him that has survived since his newborn days. You see, he spent many years catering to his every whim and indulgence; inviting death and pleasure into his undead life with equal measure.

One of the bonding activities he would indulge in with a new or potential mate is definitely going on a hunt for food. These days he is cooped up in Volterra more than he would like to be, so indulging in a cat & mouse chase with his lover? One that certainly will end with him watching his mate drink their fill? Oh sign Caius right up.

Now if his mate had decided they want to be the one to chase Caius? The king will be quiet for a couple of minutes, seemingly looking them up and down and wondering if they would be able to do such a thing. But a soft smirk will soon enough grace his features before knocking back his glass of blood-wine and standing up from his seat.

“If you have no interest we can go back to— ” “Do not hold back.” “Caius?— ” “If you have decided to hunt me I expect a chase more thrilling than any other.”

𝐍𝐒𝐅𝐖 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐑: When it comes to mixing this sort of indulgence with carnal activities, he will gladly chase for as long as he needs to. But his mate needs to be aware of the fact that wherere ever Caius catches them, is where he will have his way with them.

For what it's worth, I do not think Caius would never indulge in these tendencies with a mortal. Us humans are simply too easy prey for a vampire like Caius, it would not be very entertaining for our dear king.

What would be the catalyst to send twilight era caius on a character journey? I feel bad for him sitting in volterra bored out of his mind till the next rebellion

The next rebellion.

The trouble with Caius is that they have Jane and Alec who can make their way through armies like it's nothing, all their major rivals have been dealt with and neutered over ten centuries ago, they've been doing this Volturi thing for thousands of years, the children of the moon are very nearly wiped out and effectively extinct, and he has fuck all to do.

This is why Caius is hopelessly bored out of his mind and huffing Corin while he waits for something interesting to happen.

But for Caius who doesn't... give off the same vibes as Aro... the human arts are only so interesting, as is modern human culture, as is anything in general.

Caius would need a viable threat that can't be dealt with by Jane and Alec, which of course would have Aro very upset, but Caius would be thrilled that a real opponent has finally shown themselves.

(Really, I tried to think of anything else, anything ridiculous even, and Caius would just pass it off onto Aro and say "this is your bullshit to deal with")

How they react when you tell them your on your period/ how they’d handle it during the week (cause I’m on mine and it sucks):

Alice:

• obviously she already knows since she can see into the future

• she already has chocolates she had bought one week before it had started for you

• also she’d definitely tell you when it’s coming, so you could get prepared for it too

• would give you cuddles and leave kisses all over you to get your mind off of the cramps

• when you get sad, she’ll say something funny to get your mind off the mood swings or would talk about the crazy adventures you two had been on

Edward:

• would asked if you needed anything for it

• if you did, he’d get you chocolates and pads and your favorite flowers as a gift

• if you didn’t he’d make you your favorite meal instead

• if you have cramps, you two would dance to get your mind off of it

• he’ll hum your favorite song as you two danced

• when your crying over your mood swings, he’ll do whatever it takes to make you smile again

• when your angry, he’ll get you your chocolates to calm you down

Carlisle:

• brooo… he’d take hella good care of you when he finds out (but of course he’s always like that)

• always has the heating pad nearby for your cramps

• you would read what he’s reading, and he makes sure not to go too slow or fast (depending on how you fast you read)

• he would not be surprised due to the fact you had been super moody recently

• you would be surprised he would know what a period is, which of course made him laugh

• he’d have the urge to turn you into a vampire since vampires don’t have periods (I don’t know if that’s true because it wasn’t explained in a lot of stuff I’ve seen, plus I did some research on this and someone said they don’t. I’m sorry if this is incorrect)

• the smell would definitely gross him out

• would order one of the human maids to get you the supplies you need

• would spoil you with stuff you didn’t need (and he’ll still have the urge to turn you into a vampire)

• okay so if it’s really bad during that month you get it, he turns you into a vampire

• Aro would be pissed off, but of course delighted since he was waiting a while until they could turn her

• you would be happy that you have these amazing ability’s and you’d thank your boyfriend with the two of you on your shared bed ‘cuddling’

Celebrating Christmas With the Volturi Kings

A/N: I am writing this as I enjoy my dinner on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas everyone! (I would also like to note that I was heavily inspired by the posts of @volterran-wine.)

Reader Is Gender Neutral~

Aro Volturi:

Aro is probably the most excited out of the kings. Why? Because he loves giving gifts to his family. And since his mate is celebrating Christmas with them, this is an opportunity to spoil them rotten.

The king spends a fair part of the day getting the gifts ready. Don't get me wrong, he could absolutely ask anyone to do it for him but he believes it's more personal to do it himself.

His ability surely helps him in deciding what to get. Don't forget that vampires can remember everything, so he definitely remembers all of his mate's thoughts. They looked at something on amazon and thought "Wow, I really want this.", then saved it and totally forgot about it later? Don't worry, Aro has got them covered. He already bought it and wrote them the most detailed love letter ever.

Now, Aro really wants to have a day off but if something urgent happens, he has to be away. Thankfully it's quite rare that he has work on Christmas.

So, when he has time, he takes his mate out. Whether they want to go to a luxurious restaurant, ice skating or just having fun in the snow, he will spend every minute with them. Although, he would prefer if they chose an activity that won't really make him seem unprofessional. He has a reputation to keep up after all.

Once the two of them get back from their date, he gathers the entire family and sits them down around a Christmas tree. He either lets Marcus play on the piano as the the rest of the family listens or invites him to chat with them (usually both).

As everyone probably guessed it, Aro invites his mate to a dance. Not just them, in fact, but the entire family. He would also love if his mate danced with the others as well. Nothing makes him happier than seeing them getting along with his family.

After the chatting and dancing, everyone starts giving gifts. The rest of the night is filled with laughs and smiles as everyone talks about the gifts they got.

Caius Volturi:

Caius is the type of person who just goes along with everyone's plans during Christmas. He loves being with his loved ones but doesn't necessarily enjoy having to buy gifts.

Don't get me wrong, he absolutely loves to give his mate anything they would like. What Caius likes about Christmas, however, is the fact that he gets to be vulnerable with his family for an entire night. Christmas is about the warmth of love for him, not about competing who bought the most expensive gift.

So he would most likely want to relax in the castle with his mate (and possibly some members of the family). He wouldn't say no to others joining but if his mate would like to be alone with him, he's totally fine with that.

Caius would tell them stories of how his family celebrated Christmas in the past. He even shows them paintings he's done about various celebrations throughout history.

I think he would quite enjoy watching a Christmas movie with his mate. Especially if it is about the importance of family and friends.

As Caius is usually on the go, Christmas time is when he can relax. Or at least what he calls relaxing. His plans usually get thrown out the window as soon as he can hear Aro's voice in the distance though. His mate should be ready to get dragged somewhere; I heard that Volterra looks quite nice with Christmas lights.

Once everyone is back in the castle, Caius can finally enjoy Christmas as he wants to. While Marcus plays on the piano, he slides over to his mate and takes their hand in his. When Marcus finishes, he turns to them and gives them a kiss.

Caius gifts his mate a new Christmas painting portraying the family, including them. This is his way of officially inviting them to be a part of his family.

Marcus Volturi:

Much like Caius, Marcus enjoys being with his family rather than giving gifts.

I feel like he would spend a part of the day away from his mate to honor Didyme. Maybe he goes to her memorial and pays his respect.

After that though, he joins his mate in their Christmas activities. He would appreciate activities around the castle rather than having to go out.

When he gets to be alone with them, he introduces the family's traditions to the mate. He talks about how he always plays a few pieces on the piano while the rest of the family listens; and he gives them a warning about Aro's habit of dancing with everyone.

He asks their mate how they celebrate Christmas. Whether they like a big event or just a small one with only their close relatives and friends?Their favorite songs that get them into the holiday mood? Do they have (or had if they were already turned into a vampire) a traditional food they eat on Christmas?

Marcus just really loves when his mate talks about small things that bring them joy. Like small traditions they find nostalgic. It reminds him of someone.

If his mate tries to ask what he will play that night, he just gives them a small smile and shakes his head.

Once the night falls and the family gathers, Marcus begins his performance. His mate might just recognize a few of their favorite pieces being amongst the ones he plays. However, there is a song that wasn't heard by anyone yet but him. He specifically wrote it for his mate or rather how they made him feel. That song made most of the family tear up.

After the celebration is done and they have retreated to their quarters, Marcus asks their opinion on that night and if they liked the song.
