Secretly training to be a shadow for his kingdom. He is outwardly training to be a diplomat.

Excels in the use of a plethora of weapons.

Sam’s fire magic is second only to his sisters.

He is a powerful pure blood male in every sense.

His secondary form, a stag, is very reminiscent of the King of the North.

Best friends with Gabriel.

rereading crown of midnight

ew. i hate the way calaena treats dorian. she’s literally so mean to him. she told him she didnt wanna be with him (and she was smiling as she said that) then she said she still wanted to be his friend, but when he shows up at her room she tells him to leave her alone. wtf?

please calaena’s so annoying. everytime chaol tells her to be careful she snaps at him. like babe get over yourself.

also when nehemia died and she attacked chaol. like lmao are you fucking insane? yes he knew there was some sort of threat to her life but he was doing his job to protect her, yes it didnt work, but he tried. so what the actual fuck is wrong with her? plus even if nehemia’s her friend, chaol has no obligation to tell her that. it has to do with his work and it’s his business.

even after calaena treated dorian so badly, he was so nice to her. aww.

the saddest part in this book is when fleetfoot was taken into the portal.

umm calaena slammed dorian’s head into the wall when chaol went into the portal. she’s an actual psychopath.

I’m currently reading queen of shadows for the first time (I started reading ToG 3-4 years ago but I somehow never managed to pick up the rest of the series up) so I basically binge read the novellas and the third book and I’m already halfway through the fourth and ARGHH they saved me from my reading slump (also I have already been slightly spoiled concerning ships as the books have already been out for a long time - and I used to think that I would never read them)😅

Review:

I cannot explain how much I absolutely loved this book! It was everything I expected and more. The world, the fantasy aspect, the characters! SJM is an amazing author. I know a lot of people are against reading SJM for their own reasons, perhaps their popularity or genuine dislike, but I personally am in love and I cannot wait to read the others in this series, and her other works

I simple love every character and their personality and own vibe they give off, even the smaller and more evil characters, they all have their role and I love how it all ties together. I adore Calaena and her attitude and skill, and dont get me started on Chaol and Dorian, I love them both so much, and the love triangle is soooo lovely and tense!

I love the story. The idea of the completion and slowly bringing in the magical side of Erilea, like not too fast, but slowly to get a faint idea of what is really out there and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the magic is further implemented in the next ones ahhh!

I’m also super curious on Calaena and her connection to Elena and Wyrdmarks. Super excited for the next book, which I’m starting straight away!
