I saw you from across the ferris wheel, sitting quietly
Staring into the distance, trying to keep some privacy
With every turn of the wheel, for a moment you could fly
I could see it in your eyes, it was something you wished inside
Hey flightless bird, I hope you find a mountain
To take off, and send your dreams to Jupiter
Hey flightless bird, I hope you find someone, to
Shower dark skies, in bold chromatic color
Don't doubt yourself, you've got the chance to take flight
Para siempre, can I ask you to be mine?
-Can I Ask You To Be Mine
Lost Things the Musical story & lyrics by M. Rivera
LA JOLLA – On a busy Sunday for the California men's tennis team, Carl Emil Overbeck clinched a 5-0, nighttime victory over UC San Diego and teamed with Mikey Wright to clinch the doubles point against the Tritons at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. Jonathan Irwanto and Timofey Stepanov won their consolation semifinal Sunday morning in the Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship, but the consolation final was rained out.
Stepanov and Irwanto, one of several pairs seeded 17th in the annual doubles tournament, defeated Caleb and Christian Settles, 4-6, 7-6(2), 10-7, in the Pacific Coast consolation semis. The Golden Bears were set to face Stanford's Filip Kolasinski and Hudson Rivera in the noon PT consolation final, until Mother Nature intervened.
The Tritons were scheduled to host Cal at 3 p.m. PT at the Northview Tennis Courts in La Jolla, but rain scuttled the match at UCSD. The teams instead moved to the drier courts at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club for a 5:45 p.m. PT start.
At court-three doubles, Cal's Alex Chang and John Kim beat Philip Lan and Carson Lee, 6-2, but then Ryder Jackson and Qian Sun – in the latter's first collegiate doubles match – lost on court one, 7-5, to UCSD's Zach Pellouchoud and Pelayo Rodriguez. Wright and Overbeck bested William Lan and Daniel Traxler, 7-6(4), on court two to secure the point for Cal.
The Bears were dominant in singles, dropping just one set, with that coming in Sun's first collegiate singles match, though that contest was abandoned when Cal completed its victory. The Bears collected singles wins from Kim, Stepanov, Overbeck – who topped Carson Lee, 7-6(8), 6-1, to clinch – and Irwanto to post the 5-0 result.
Cal plays again next Sunday, when it visits SMU for a nonconference battle in Dallas.

Additional Speculation On Season Storylines (Listed by team) List does not include all NFL teams
Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders fire Josh McDaniels after starting 2-10 and losing to the Chiefs Week 12 in Las Vegas, and promote defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to be their interim head coach.
Patrick Graham will finish the season with a record of 2-3, leaving the Raiders with a final record of 4-13.
The Raiders will fire general Manager Dave Ziegler, interim coach Patrick Graham, and a majority of the rest of McDaniels' staff after the regular season is completed.
Tennessee Titans
Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill gets injured early in the season, and the Titans allow scond-year QB Malik Willis and rookie Will Levis to struggle for the starting spot before Levis wins it outright after during Tennessee's bye week in Week 7.
Levis then manages to lead the Titans to an 8-3 record from the bye week on, putting up Rookie of the Year-worthy numbers... if he had started the full season.
The Titans still manage to fall in the Wildcard Round to a tough Browns team, but this year still cements Levis as the starting quarterback going into 2024, with Tannehill likely to be moved by the front office in the offseason.
Washington Commanders
Ron Rivera is fired after a Week 16 loss to the Jets, finishing his season in Washington with a record of 4-11. Assistant head coach and Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is promoted to be the interim head coach.
Bieniemy then coaches the Commanders to a 2-0 record in the final games, and after the season, his interim tag is dropped in order to make Eric Bieniemy the full-time head coach of the Washington Commanders in 2024.
Aside
Originally, I had afew wonkier predictions, namely the Cardinals and Colts trading their respective picks to quarterback-needy teams so those unnamed teams could select one of USC QB Caleb Williams or UNC QB Drake Maye.
My only reservation was that by the time October comes around, we're gonna have seen a much better sample size of football in 2023, so I'm certain I'll have opinions on it. I'd just like to save some for the wilder stuff for when there's a clearer picture to expand upon.
Ideally, I'd like to do one of these at the end of every month of the season, so we'll see how that goes.
End of the way, I wanted to put something out to reign in the new year, and I hope you're along for the ride.
FIRST ON FOX: A pro-life pregnancy center in Ohio was attacked by the radical pro-choice group "Jane’s Revenge," which tagged the building with messages to "fund abortion" and "abort God."
HerChoice, a pro-life pregnancy center in Bowling Green, Ohio, was attacked by "Jane’s Revenge" and hit with anti-Christian and pro-choice graffiti.
HerChoice, also known as the Bowling Green Pregnancy Center (BGPC), provides free pregnancy and STI testing, ultrasounds, parenting classes, as well as supplies for infants and toddlers.
DOJ CHARGES TWO MORE PEOPLE FOR ATTACKS AGAINST FLORIDA PRO-LIFE PREGNANCY CENTER
The center, along with the other over 100 pregnancy centers across the Buckeye State, provide $15 million worth of services to families in need.
Ohio Right to Life CEO Peter Range told Fox News Digital the people "who work at the BGPC are some of the kindest, loving and caring individuals you could ever meet."
"Knowing these individuals personally, this attack on their center will only strengthen their resolve to continue to love those in need," Range said. "A huge thank you should be given to the local Knights of Columbus council and the college students who came out to help the cleanup process immediately upon seeing the vandalism."
"They represent the Bowling Green community at its finest. In the broader context, though, there has been well over 100 attacks against pro-life pregnancy centers and pro-life organizations since last year," he continued. "Everyone in this state and nation, no matter their political affiliation or stance on abortion, should support centers and organizations that help mothers."
Range said he prays "local officials, statewide elected members and national leaders will all rise to the moment and speak out against these attacks to put an end to these senseless attacks once and for all."
The graffiti on the pregnancy center read "liars," "fake clinic," "fund abortion" and "abort God."
Additionally, the group signed its name – the calling card left behind on the other attacks linked to "Jane’s Revenge."
Last month, the Justice Department charged two more people for carrying out a targeted attack on a pro-life pregnancy center in Winter Haven, Florida.
The DOJ announced that a federal grand jury returned an indictment against Gabriella Oropesa and Annarella Rivera for engaging in a conspiracy to prevent employees of reproductive health services facilities from providing those services, along with co-conspirators Caleb Freestone, 27, and Amber Smith-Stewart, 23, whom DOJ charged in January.
The crew allegedly targeted a pro-life pregnancy center and vandalized those facilities with spray-painted threats, including, "If abortions aren’t safe than [sic] neither are you," "YOUR TIME IS UP!!," "WE’RE COMING for U," and "We are everywhere," on the building.
Those messages are consistent with those that the far-left group, Jane’s Revenge, took credit for leaving spray-painted on pro-life centers after vandalizing dozens of them following the leaked Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case that eventually led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade last summer.
DOJ said similar facilities in Hollywood and Hialeah, Florida, were also allegedly targeted.
I’ve really liked the concept for this fic from the start. It’s one of the earliest AUs I came up with and actually started as two different fic ideas; one which was just about why Fade loves her shorty so much, and another one about a werewolf AU. It also originally started as a much closer AU to canon; as in the same storyline and world as the canon Protocol, but with Fade being a werewolf. In this version of the story, Neon heard a ruckus in Fade’s room and discovered her transformed into her wolf form, having lost control due to sleep deprivation.
I eventually found that changing the world to something a bit more fitting to the theme to alter it to an almost Soulsborne or RE8 kind of fantasy world made it MUCH stronger. It’s kind of mid-modern; modern enough for people to have guns, but kind of medieval in tone and general… practices regarding monsters.
-
This fic centres around Fadeshock, but a large part of the plot will also revolve around Reyge. I won’t go into detail on this, you’ll see soon enough!
-
To clarify the difference between monsters and Radiants - Radiants are humans or humanoids with magical abilities, and monsters are inhuman creatures. Werewolves fall into an uncomfortable halfway point, and so most call them both interchangeably. Reyna heads a monster hunter guild which Neon works for, and Neon wasn’t comfortable killing Fade as she sees werewolves as more human than beast. It’s the difference between killing a wolf and a person who can turn into a wolf.
She has no trouble killing a dragon which has begun to raid villages and hunt people, or a basilisk which is killing livestock, but she won’t kill a werewolf who’s only apparent crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
She also knows, though, that Reyna is a lot stricter on this topic than she is, and so she lied to cover her ass.
She is also aware that the lines can blur and quickly become dangerous for her, even though she’s a Radiant herself, so she keeps herself hidden. It’s steady, stable work which she’s good at and pays well, but it is also dangerous and she’s very aware of that.
-
Silver perpetually injures monsters in this fic. If a monster is shot with a silver bullet the wound won’t clot and they’ll bleed out without treatment. The trap around Fade’s arm was silver and so it’s perpetually eating into her, especially since it was barbed and some of the barbs couldn’t be removed while Neon was cutting her loose.
Silver is aggravating for monsters to touch, too - it burns them. This will be an important note later in this fic.
-
There is a reason Sage uses her code name while Neon, Fade, and Reyna all don’t! You’ll see why later on.

Playlist
Again I’ll just share the song titles which are on my playlist, since I don’t know how to share a playlist while making the creator anonymous for my own privacy.
Devil’s Backbone - The Civil Wars (this is the primary theme song and I thought about making the title a lyric from it, but I wanted to stick to an original one for this fic, with this one taking one of the chapter titles instead)
Drops in the Lake - Lord Huron (another primary theme of this fic which took the final chapter’s title)
Just a Man - Jorge Rivera-Herrans, EPIC Ensemble
Karanlığın - VALORANT, Helin, ARB4
GET MINE - Holy Wars
Exhumed - Zola Jesus
Misery - Lucille Croft, BRVMES, TINYKVT
Carrion Flowers - Chelsea Wolfe
Electric Gold - Marion Aunor, Moophs
Wolf Like Me ft. Shovels & Rope - Lera Lynn, Shovels & Rope
Blood On My Name - The Brothers Bright
Cupid - Twin Ver. - FIFTY FIFTY
Stolas Sings - Caleb Hyles
VISIONS - VALORANT, eaJ, Safari Riot
Gravedigger - MXMS
Homeostasis - Nostalghia
You Can’t Judge a Book by the Cover - Ruby Ibarra
INFERNO - Sub Urban, Bella Poarch
REBEL TIME - MOONGA K., Sampa the Great
Boyfriend - Dove Cameron
Many of these were taken from the characters’ official playlists, curated by Riot themselves. I felt they were fitting for this AU especially; particularly Fade’s, as Neon is less… angsty in general. Some happier songs are on here too, though, as even though this fic has a darker tone, it’s still got some rom-com elements in there.
Jimmy Dale “J.D.” Herchenhahn entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior whom he so earnestly loved and served Thursday morning May 11, 2023 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare Center. Some people called him Dr. Herchenhahn, many others knew him as Pastor, but to us he was forever our precious Dad and Papa. His faith has become sight, and we believe he heard a big “Well done, good and faithful servant” when he entered heaven’s gates!
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 54 years, Jean Herchenhahn; his parents, A.B. and Iva Herchenhahn, two brothers, Allen Herchenhahn and Fred Herchenhahn; and five sisters, Lucille Jones, Jean Brunson, Gayle Mattheiss, Dawn Gunderson, and Louise Bates.
Jim loved his family dearly and will be most missed by his three children, Janna (Jeff) Attoe of Hampstead, Jay (Gina) Herchenhahn of Lancaster, SC, and Joy (Brad) Barth of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren Jensen (Ray) Rivera, Jonah Attoe, Jayse Attoe, Kalli Herchenhahn, Kassi Herchenhahn, Khloe Herchenhahn, Caleb Herchenhahn, Cooper Barth, Colton Barth, and Copley Barth; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Halston Rivera; two sisters, Wilma Jones and Judy Ray; many nieces and nephews. Janna, Jay and Joy would like to thank Steve and Joanna Groves, David Groves, and Tom Hayden for faithfully and lovingly caring for our dad. We would also like to acknowledge and thank David and Cathy Lane, Edna Lancaster, Mark and Nancy Cramer, and Jimmy Sibbett for loving our dad and being the hands and feet of Jesus in dads time of need.
Jimmy Dale was born April 25, 1941 in Macedonia, Mississippi. During his junior year of high school in Pensacola, Florida, he received Christ as his Savior under the ministry of Dr. Dolphus Price. As a senior, he surrendered to preach the Gospel. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina before serving two years with the United States Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran.
Jim finished his college education at Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was involved in many aspects of college life including playing on the baseball team and serving as student body President. It was there that he met and married his sweetheart. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1968. He pastored the Fellowship Baptist Church in Trion, Georgia for three and a half years during his tenure at TTC and afterwards. Then in 1970, the Lord called the Herchenhahns to Wilmington to work at Grace Baptist Church—first as Assistant Pastor under Dr. Ray Noland, and then starting in 1971 as Senior Pastor of Grace and President of Wilmington Christian Academy.
The Lord used Pastor Herchenhahn in a great way during his thirty-six years in leadership of the church and school. Hundreds of people came to know the Lord under his ministry, and many others grew in their faith. A number of men and women were called to various areas of “full-time Christian service” under his leadership. Many missionaries, pastors, teachers, and others are still serving the Lord around the world.
He retired from Grace at the end of December 2006. That freed them up to do some short-term mission work in Guam. After that he began filling pulpits for preachers in and around the Wilmington area. That ministry led them to Riley’s Creek Baptist Church in 2010, where he was called to be their Senior Pastor. He retired from Riley’s Creek in 2021 for the primary purpose of taking care of his beloved wife and soulmate who was declining in health. He wanted to spend as much time with her as he possibly could, and that he did.
Only eternity will reveal the impact of the life and ministry of Pastor J.D. Herchenhahn. He was an exemplary pastor, faithfully preaching the Word and sharing the gospel, as well as humbly serving and caring for people. He often quoted these lines from a poem: “Others, Lord, yes, others, let this my motto be, “help me to live for others, that I may live like Thee.” He certainly reflected Jesus through his life.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church, 1401 North College Road, Wilmington, with a memorial service honoring Pastor Herchenhahn will be immediately following. Close family friend and co-laborer Rev. Mike Meshaw will officiate along with Rev. David Lancaster and Rev. Jay Knolls.. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Oleander Memorial Gardens. with Rev. Brian Beaver conducting the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401. We will be forever grateful for their gentle care and compassion given to our dad.
Online condolences may be made by selecting Tribute Wall.
A masterlist of muses that I have played throughout the years, that I am always willing to play. I do need to go over some of the FC's and probably make some changes since this list is YEARS old. But I will do that and update it!!
Kadir couldn't shake the sinking sensation that something about the case of the break ins were off. There was too much evidence placed, almost strategically, behind and, after talking to Nico, Kadir discovered that Billie didn't fit the eye witness testimony. While Nico had pegged the culprit as being between 5'8 to 5'11, a height that Billie fell into, the initial thief was far broader than Billie's physique would suggest. They also had a distinct smell. The culprit smelled of a mix of sweat, polyester and body spray. The body spray was cheap (think drugstore brand) and was so overpowering that Nico wasn't be able to distinguish who the culprit was from their sweat. The body spray wasn't gender specific, so it could have been something anyone could have bought and over-sprayed. Maybe even to conceal their own scent intentionally? Or maybe they just didn't like to bathe and enjoyed smelling like a teenager who was disguising their BO? Either way, Kadir learned that the body spray is sold at local convenience store in LC and is called Blue Lightning.
Kadir has now, after much convincing, managed to obtain the full list of individuals who have bought this body spray. The list includes over half of the students at LC High as well as some recognizable names including Dilan Selvi, Caleb Wright, Mason Mahir, Kotaro Matsui, Kyle Kane, Kitty Hensley, Mateo Rivera, Jonah Rivas, & Reese Hawthorne. Now it is your turn to get interrogating. Feel free to go around talking to all of the suspects IC and ask them where they were the nights of the break ins. But, be careful as to not draw too much suspicion to yourself. You wouldn't want to let the true culprit know you are on to them.
#2: Finding the Truth
After interrogating all of the townsgoers who purchased Blue Lightning, Kadir couldn't shake the feeling that something about Kyle's alibi wasn't lining up. He tried to ignore it, doing his best to enjoy himself throughout the festivities. But, on the last day of the Ren Faire, he couldn't hold the sensation that something wasn't right here any longer. While the rest of the town was at the performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Kadir went searching for proof that Kyle had been the true thief and vandal all along. Only as he was making his way across town to the Sunset Drive-In, where Kyle worked, he caught the sight of Theo sneaking around. While everyone else was distracted at the play, Theo was headed back towards the Poison Room. Kadir tore off after him, but Kadir was too slow, arriving to the Coven's Headquarters a second after Theo had already torn off in the opposite direction with the Supreme's grimoire in hand. Kadir chased after Theo, speeding after him through the Pendulum Playhouse just as everyone was being ushered back to their seats after intermission. Only, just as Kadir was about to reach Theo, he felt his vision begin to fade in and out. He was hit with a spell that made him grow light headed and pass out.

"Now," Caleb took a dramatic pause as him and Mateo began to lead a rather large tour group around the corner of Joe's. "This next stop on our Ghost Bros Extravanganza of All Things Haunting and Otherwordly is about to get... personal. Come closer," He lowered his voice as he waited for the guests around them to circle around. "And I'm not just saying that because us blocking the street is a safety hazard. Come here. Gather around, make friends with your neighbors. What you may think is a subpar local pizza shop, is really the home of the very first- wait for it... Bigfoot sighting," He told the crowd, throwing his voice as he added in some 'ooohs' and 'aahs' for dramatic affect. "And who was the one to have this bizarre run-in with this potential Big Foot? None other than your own tour guide, Mateo Angel Ortega Rivera. Tell them, bro. Tell them how you were deprived a slice of pizza as the mysterious figure charged at you and, get this- even bite him."
