Belladonna - Leto Atreides x F!Reader
Belladonna (Atropa belladonna) - Meaning: Silence, betrayal
Summary: Duke Leto's new wife has been neglected. When the Duke finds her under his Swordmaster, he summons her to his office for a talk but it ends up not being what she expected.
Pairing: Leto Atreides x F!Reader, (past fling) Duncan Idaho x F!Reader
Word Count: 918
Warnings: Slight Hurt/Comfort, fluff, Discussion of marital neglect/politically arranged marriage that leads to infidelity, reader has female genitalia but is otherwise not described, slight language, reader tries to appear aloof, Leto is probably OOC, feelings talk, a little husband/wife flirting at the end
Day 4 my loves! This is my first Dune fic and I have only seen the 2021/2024 films and read through some of the Wiki pages so forgive me if there are horrendous inaccuracies. This takes place pre-Dune by about 10 years, so Paul is a kid and Leto is a little younger but still foxy as hell.

The thing about Caladan, you had come to learn, is that no matter where you were in the palace you could always hear the ocean. The crash of waves against the cliff below lulled you to sleep every night since your marriage to Duke Leto about two months ago. Sixty days, of which the Duke had only visited your bedchamber twice. The rest he spent, you assumed, in his chambers with Lady Jessica.
In fact, you had barely seen him other than your weekly dinners since the wedding. The dinners were silent affairs, you on one end of the long formal dining table and the Duke on the other. Conversation extended no further than pleasantries. You didn’t mind too much — a political marriage like yours wasn’t meant to inspire affection and since the Duke had his concubine and his heir, you were only there to solidify the alliance between Caladan and your home planet, Calypso-9.
Today, you’d been summoned to his office to discuss yesterday’s incident.
The incident in which he’d found you underneath his Swordmaster Duncan Idaho in the training room. Half-naked. Writhing and crying in pleasure while Duncan pummeled your cervix with his impressive cock. It had been months since you’d been intimate with someone, and during your self-defense training Duncan’s touches while he corrected your form along with the smell of his sweat and endorphins from the exercise had proven to be too much. You’d given in to your baser instincts, and fuck, did it feel good.
Leto hadn’t said anything, only caught your attention with a loud clear of his throat. When he saw your and Duncan’s eyes on him, all he did was about-face and walk out of the room.
He maintained the same stoic expression now. His dark eyes bore into yours as he stroked his beard. You had noticed how large his hands were during your wedding ceremony, and you remembered how they felt on you while he dispassionately consummated your union that night. All you could hear were the waves crashing.
“I think we’re both aware of why I called you here,” he finally said, breaking the silence.
“You found me fucking Duncan. I apologize if you were offended, my Lord, but I’m not sure why you called me here. Were you offended? Jealous?” You honestly didn’t know why he would want to hash this out between you unless he was going to scold you for being so indiscreet, which you supposed was deserved.
“What if I was?” He asked, gaze softening before he continued without waiting for your answer, “Even though you and I both know I have no right to be. Our marriage is simply a political arrangement and I have Jessica and Paul while you left your homeworld to come here and be ignored by the husband you never wanted in the first place.”
Gobsmacked. That was the only way you could describe yourself as you picked your jaw up off the floor. To say you hadn’t expected candor of this level was an understatement.
“I…Apologies, my Lord, but-”
“Leto.”
“Pardon?”
“You are my wife, there’s no need for formalities. Call me Leto.”
You held back a scoff, turning it into a light sigh instead. “Since this is the second longest conversation we’ve ever had, you’ll forgive my hesitation with familiarities, but alright. Leto,” he nodded gratefully, so you continued, “I don’t fully understand your meaning.”
“What I mean is I am angry about what I saw yesterday but not for the reasons you may think. I’m not upset with you because I understand that I am what drove you into the arms of my Swordmaster. I am angry with myself for neglecting you so cruelly since our wedding and I promise to do better by you. Perhaps not to Duncan’s extent, but-”
You burst out laughing, which caused his brows to knit together in confusion. His large hands folded in front of him on his desk as you tried to get yourself under control.
“I’m - I’m sorry,” you said, waving a hand in front of you, “I don’t mean to be laughing, I swear, but…is that all it would’ve taken to get your attention?”
“Well, no, but-”
“To think all I had to do was fuck someone else…I would’ve gotten your attention weeks ago.”
“You’ve…been wanting my attention?”
This time you let your scoff out, “Of course! When my father told me he’d found me a husband I expected some old, ugly lord with at least two dead wives and no heirs. You cannot imagine the relief I felt when we met and you were none of those things.”
“I’m not not old,” he chuckled, ducking his head.
“Oh, pish, you’re barely forty, and don’t look it.”
He looked up at you from under his regal brow and you felt butterflies stirring in your chest. “And you are one of the most beautiful women who has ever stepped foot on Caladan.”
You couldn’t help the blush that rose in your cheeks, “Are you flirting with me, Leto?”
“Perhaps. You are my wife after all,” he smirked, standing from behind his desk and coming around it, offering his arm to you. “Would you like to walk with me? A proper tour of the grounds?”
You accepted, resting your hand in the crook of his arm and subtly stroking his inner forearm. “And maybe we can stop in the training room?”
His smirk widened into a smile and you were enchanted at the sight. “Whatever my wife desires.”

thank u thank u thank u if you do it!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
gn! reader
💬: hii!! im so glad you loved my leo fics :D thank u sm for requesting! this is my first time writing for percy :')
📒: fluff, friends to lovers, reader is implied to be a demigod, not proofread (´;ω;`)
Tumblr media
percy crushing on you hcs
everyone in the camp knew this boy was whipped for you
especially his friends
HE IS DOWN BAD
grover literally knows EVERY detail of you even if you guys aren't close because of percy
he knows that you have a small mole on the left side of your face, how your nose slightly scrunches up whenever you focus on something, your favorite food/the food you always eat for breakfast, the little bracelet you wear everyday because of percy
percy sometimes talks to blackjack for advice?? or just rambles to the pegasus about you (he'd look crazy without context)
the Aphrodite cabin ships you two SO MUCH
sometimes they'd set you and percy up
but to percy's disappointment, you just brush it off because you always interpreted their ways as a way to make fun of you both
spaces out whenever he looks at you
his friends have to physically shake him out of it for at least 9 seconds before he gets back to his senses
whenever that happens though, they have to sike him up to actually talk to you
if a person pulls a dirty trick on you especially during training, percy's eyes would be burning holes through them
he doesn't hide his glare at all too 😭
his friends try and give you hints that percy has a crush on u, but they're REALLY subtle and careful about it
except for leo 💀
"y'know, percy has the hots for you," he randomly says in the middle of your guys' conversation??? like u guys could be talking about how the sky's so blue and then boom he says that
anyway
they'd definitely form a game plan to get you guys together for real (annabeth would be the mastermind)
they'd probably set you guys up to a blind date in this pizza place nearby
during the date, percy made up his mind instantly after you laughed at his ridiculous joke
he wanted to date you, not just have a crush on you. he wanted to love you, in a real way, not just from afar
and so he confessed
he was resisting the urge to kick his feet and giggle when you accepted his confession /j
his friends were probably disguised as "normal" customers, sitting in the booth across from you guys, or beside you guys, silently cheering for you both once they overheard that you accepted percy's confession
percy dating hcs
loads of aquarium dates!!
he'd gossip with you, a lot
hear me out!! minecraft dates!!
he'd put your beds together and stuff, and you guys have a pet axolotl whose name is a mix of yours and percy's (basically your shipname)
is BIG on pda, he likes to show you off, even the nymphs know you're dating atp
but he'd tone it down if you want him to, of course
whenever there's a new trend that comes up on any socmed app, he's so quick to invite you to do it
he definitely made a kisses hoodie for you soskpsf
you'd have triple dates with leo and calypso, and frank and hazel 💯💯💯
he's so observant it's scary
he's the first one to notice whenever you aren't feeling good
always checks up on you
sally also hears about you all the time !! whenever percy comes home from camp he likes to tell stories about what you and him have done
she already sees you as an in-law (even if you guys haven't met properly yet)
some of percy's pfps on his main social medias would be him posing with kiss marks all over his face from you
if you ever post yourself on social media, he hypes you up so much in the comments
expect at least a millisecond after posting, you'd have 28 comments from him immediately 😭
"THATS SMY PARTNER RIGHT THERE"
"I LOVE YOUU77I"
"everyone back off they're taken BY ME"
whenever someone compliments you infront of him he's like "i know, right? my partner's so amazing"
he emphasizes the word "partner" whenever he notices that the person might be interested in you, too
he can't help being a little protective
percy jackson, if you can hear us, please percy jackson, please save us percy jackson, please save us percy jackson

SONG OF THE SEA ★
🖇️ char. Neteyam x Metkayina! Fem! Reader
🖇️ warn. None, fluff
🎥 In which Neteyam meets you at midnight and listens to your stories as an excuse to see you
A/N Just a short one shot, featuring the story of Davy Jones and Calypso bcs literally Davy Jones’ song breaks my heart
Tumblr media
It was late at night, Jake putting out the fire as it was time to sleep. Neytiri sighed, looking around and noticing Tuktirey was gone, probably outside, playing by herself. “Neteyam, go get Tuk.” She ordered. He nodded his head, leaving the hut and walking outside, not seeing her in sight. He walked further away, hearing nothing but the sound of the ocean below him and the creatures crying. That is, until he heard a melody.
The voice was soft and beautiful, filling his ears as if a goddess were singing a lullaby The melody itself was enchanting and soft, but also somewhat sad. Ears twitching, he found himself being drawn towards the voice, and saw you sitting on the deck, your back turned towards him as you hummed. The leather below him creaked, and your ears flickered in caution as you spun around, gasping. You sighed. “Do not sneak up on me like that.” Letting out a distressed sigh.
“I am sorry.” He mumbled, still distracted by your beauty. Your eyes lingered on him, before you ushered him to sit next to you. “You are Neteyam, yes?” You asked, kicking your feet against the water as you looked at it. He sat next to you. “That is me. You are?” He had never seen you before, and he was honestly confused on why he hadn’t noticed you. You shrugged, laughing weakly. “I am nobody.” You told him.
He pursed his lips, before speaking again. “What was that song?” He asked, and you looked at him with confusion written on your face. “Hm?” You asked. He cleared his throat. “The song that you were humming, what is it?” You smiled.
“It is the Song of the Sea.” You told him, turning back to the open ocean. He stayed silent, urging you to continue. “It is a story of a pirate who fell in love with a sea goddess. She gives him the duty of ferrying those who died at sea to the next world.” You started, eyes flickering towards his.
“She promised him that after ten years, she will spend one day with him before he returns to his duties. But after ten years of being at sea, when he went ashore to meet her, she never arrived. He felt betrayed, and angry, and deep sorrow.” Your voice got softer, empathy seething through your words. You breathed in, and continued. “In return, he betrays her, and he teaches other pirates how to capture her and trap her into a human body so she cannot rule the sea. Even though he is angered and was lied to by the goddess, he felt guilt for what he had done, so he carved his heart out and locked it in a chest.” You turned to him.
“He tries to convince himself that he hates her, but he cannot. He is in love.” You said, smiling widely as you told the story. You then blinked, before clearing you throat. “It is a stupid child’s tale.” You whispered, embarrassed that you got excited about a folktale.
He leaned forward, shaking his head. “No, it is interesting.” He assured you. You looked at him with wide eyes, taken aback, before smiling sheepishly to yourself, your cheeks warming. Everybody always made fun of you for telling these stories, but he was actually listening.
“The song is their’s.” You explained, and he stared at you with awe. “Neteyam! Bro, where’s Tuk?” Lo’ak interrupted, but quickly shutting his mouth upon seeing him sitting with you. Neteyam quickly got up, blushing as he looked between you and his brother. “I’m right here!” Tuk said, running towards Lo’ak. Neteyam looked at you, frowning. “I must go.” He told you. You nodded, turning back towards the sea. “I understand.” You spoke, your words quiet.
He wanted to say more, to speak to you more, but he turned and left, getting punched in the arm by his little brother, who he hissed at.
The next day, at the same time as the day before, he came back, and there you were, humming once again. He tried to find you during the day, but he couldn’t find you at all. “Neteyam.” You smiled as you saw him, and his heart skipped a beat. You extended your hand for support to help him sit next to you, and he took it. “I want to hear the rest of the story.” He told you.
Days went on like that, where he would come and find you, and you would tell him many different stories of the sea. He grew more infatuated with you each and every time, the distance between you slowly decreasing. A couple of weeks later, you wouldn’t even talk, and you would just hum as you laid your head on his shoulder, not failing to notice how he was as stiff as a rock, nervous.
“I cannot believe he would betray her, even though he loved her. It is strange.” He scoffed, shaking his head. You looked up at him, and his breath hitched at how close your faces were. “Love makes you do strange things.” You murmured, and his eyes searched your face. The moonlight lit your face almost perfectly, your eyes sparkling as you looked up at him. He loved the way the corner of your lips would pull upwards whenever you saw him, or the way you softly hummed while tracing the lines on his palms. He loved you.
He subconsciously was leaning in, and his eyes fluttered shut as he placed his lips on yours, gently. Almost immediately, you kissed him back. You adjusted your body to turn towards his, a hand of his sneaking onto your face and cupping your jaw. All these years, you have been listening to love stories and songs and the wonders of it all; of how it makes your heart pump faster, or the way you would smile until your cheeks hurt, or the way your eyes searched for a flaw and could find nothing but perfection. You listened to them all, and now you had it.
He deepened the kiss, huffing through his nose as he furrowed his eyebrows. He slowly pulled away, his eyes switching between your left and right. God, you were beautiful. “You are strange, Neteyam.” You smiled shyly, looking down as you leaned into his palm. “It is your fault.” His deep voice rumbled through your ears, kissing you again.

things that I overlooked in PJO the first time / small, funny things I noticed during my reread
Part 4: The Battle of the Labyrinth
it's been way way way too long, I'm sorry, but I'm back with part 4 and part 5 will be uploaded by Monday!!
Whenever I thought about her [Rachel] (and I'm not saying I thought about her; she just like crossed my mind from time to time, okay?), ... this is after meeting her once!
She bared her fangs. I was so paralysed I couldn't move but Rachel through a snare drum at the empousa's head. Rachel is a beast with inanimate objects
We'd [Percy & Annabeth] fought together so many times we knew each other's moves. We could do this, easy.
Annabeth's hand slipped into mine. Under different circumstances I would've been embarrassed, but here in the dark I was glad to know where she was. It was about the only thing I was sure of. CUTEST
"I wouldn't have paid any attention except... well, it was Luke." She [Juniper] blushed a little greener. Grover huffed. "Forget what I said about good taste."
I stepped away from Annabeth. "We were just looking at maps," I said stupidly. Malcolm stared at me. "Okay."
"Percy, the spider's getting away. Do you really want me to explain the exact details of how I was born?" "Umm...no. That's okay."
Annabeth glared at me like she was going to punch me. Then she did something that surprised me even more. [...] I probably would've sat there for the rest of the day, staring at the lava and trying to remember what my name was, but the sea demons jarred me back to reality.
"They sent you to me, my brave one, knowing that you would break my heart." "But... I'm just... I mean, I'm just me." Percy has everyone in love with him and he still asks 'me?'
For the rest of my life I would always be thinking about her [Calypso]. She would always be my biggest what if. must be weird now that she's back and with Leo
"He was probably the bravest friend I've ever had. He..." Then she saw me. Her face went blood red. "He's right there!" then cut to: "You are the single most annoying person I have ever met!" And she stormed out of the room. I stared at the doorway. I felt like hitting something. "So much for being the bravest friend she's ever had."
Without waiting for us to protest, he picked up Annabeth and me as easily as if we were kittens, slung us both on his back, and galloped off towards the Big House. picturing this is hilarious
I left him in his wheelchair, staring sadly into the fireplace. I wondered how many times he'd sat here, waiting for heroes that never came back. ouch
Annabeth laughed. It was the first time, I'd heard her laugh in a long time. It was nice to hear.
The number had washed off my hand a long time ago, but that was ok. Without meaning to, I'd memorised it. he memorised Rachel's number!
How could this be a temple for my dad? My dad was a nice guy. He'd never asked me for a Father's Day card much less somebody's skull.
Ethan sneered. "There's no right side. The gods never cared about us. Why shouldn't I-" "Sign up with an army that makes you fight to death for entertainment?" Annabeth said. "Gee, I wonder." I love annabeth so so much
"Ow!" He yelled. For a moment it was only Luke's voice, full of surprise and pain. :(
Paul scratched his beard. "I don't know if it's permission, so much, but she's your mother. And I know you're going through a lot. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't talk to you about it first, man to man." [...] I thought about Paul and my mom, how she smiled and laughed more whenever he was around, and how Paul had gone out of his way to get me into high school. I found myself saying, "I think that's a great idea, Paul. Go for it." Sally and Paul are so wholesome
"And you Percy, are my favourite son." He [Poseidon] smiled, and at that moment, just being with him in the kitchen with him was the best birthday present I ever got.
the last olympian is left! on Monday, I promise :) let me know if you want the series to continue into heroes of Olympus, I'm really enjoying my reread

Beautiful Just The Way You Are
Author talks: This is my first ever ask and thank you so much for it @aroseinvelaris I hope this is what you are looking for.
Warnings: Leo being insecure of his body and hurt and comfort for Leo.
Tumblr media
Leo was confident for most part but sometimes he just couldn't help but compare himself to the other boys at camp.
They were stronger, smarter and had more muscles than he could ever imagine that had the ladies swooning over them.
Now don't get him wrong at the back of his mind he knew that he could give them a run for their money but he just couldn't help but wonder why you wanted him.
His beautiful girlfriend, who was so smart, strong and oh so pretty. You had met him not long after he came to camp after the war, at first you guys were just friends and he was with Calypso.
It all went down hill when Leo and Calypso broke up and you were the only one that could get Leo to have his food. Though he kept up his façade of being the coolest person around you were the only one who saw through his act and could confront him and you were the only one who had seen him cry after his mothers death, that was when he realized that maybe you were the one he wanted.
And it didn't take long after that for him to finally confess to you and you had smiled and told that he had taken long enough and that if he hadn't confessed soon you would have done it yourself. It was then that he realized that he would be happy after all.
Leo knew that the color green never suited him and that he had no reason to be jealous or as he vehemently put "annoyed" by other boys at camp. You knowing him like the back of your hand always assured him that the other boys were just athletic airheads (God forbid Percy or Jason hears this) and that he was way cooler and that she thought it was hot seeing him build things at his bunker.
That had definitely gone to his head and you later found him flexing as he worked around bunker knowing that you were watching as you fondly rolled your eyes and refused to acknowledge the warmth of your cheeks.
All these thoughts were swimming inside his head when he was laying at the infirmary after picking a fight with some Ares kids who saw you as an object of reward and not the smart and powerful demigod that you were.
You had been out the whole week for a quest and were blissfully unware about this and he knew that he would most probably get an earful once you were back.
And you were definitely not happy to seeing him with a bruised eye and a busted lip, but you didn't say anything as you sat at the end of the bed waiting for Leo to explain himself.
You knew that Leo rarely picked fights and you also knew that he wouldn't have done it without any reason so you kept quite as he explained what had happened.
What drew you attention was that at the end he mumbled. "Maybe they are right and that I don't deserve you."
"Leonidas Valdez what makes you possibly think that I don't deserve you?"
Leo started at you wide eyed, sure you guys had your fair share of fights but never had you used his full name before. "T-They are right aren't they, I mean I can't fight like them, I don't makes the girls in Aphrodite cabin swoon over me, they don't even consider me as a compet-"
You didn't let him complete as you pulled him in for a passionate kiss and you only let him go once your lungs were gasping for oxygen.
Leo was wide eyed for the second time that night and it was for an entirely different reason, he had never seen you like this and maybe he liked this new change.
"You listen to me very carefully Leo, you are beautiful just the way you are, with these hands that can fix and build just about anything, that keep me warm when its cold outside, that can cook for me because you and I both know that I most probably would have starved to death without them."
That drew a laugh from both of you and you held his hands as if that were most precious things to ever exist. You then cupped his face delicately as he would with all the trinkets he would make for you at his bunker.
"This beautiful, handsome face that comes with the smart ass mouth that just wouldn't keep shut in the most dangerous of situations, the same that just wouldn't stop assuring and encouraging me when I am feeling down."
You once again pulled him for a kiss but this time it didn't last as long as he wanted it to.
"I love you for who you are Leo, I don't care what others think about you, I know who you are and I am in love with you not them so I want you to promise to me that you wouldn't let anyone's opinion change you."
Leo had a warm an watery smile on his face as he held his pinky, "Pinky promise," he whispered as you grabbed his pinky with yours mirroring the same smile that he had. "Pinky promise".
The two of you giggled as you kissed each other. You suddenly pulled back and Leo noticed a fire in your eyes that he had never seen before.
"You are my man Leo Valdez keep that in mind I don't want anyone to look at you the same way I do, do I make myself clear?"
Leo smiled and gave a salute as he replied, "Yes Ma'am".
You both laughed out as the night was filled with laughter and stories of your quest and before Leo could welcome the sleep he looked down at your sleeping figure with a small smile on his face as he knew that no matter how many insecurities and problems you two would have you both would always be there for each other and that it would be ok.

Happy Birthday Zellard !
(Because it's his birthday in my AU. After all every character has a Birthday so there is his)
Tumblr media
New Headcanons !
(Mostly because ever since someone named Triton was created and is officially with Calypso (whom I used to name Gaïana before she has an official name), my ship is pretty much dead *sob*
I guess I spend too much time with the people of our Discord because it pretty much made me realize what was the best ship (as well as Sexuality) of Zellard xD.
Anyways now I ship him with the 2 cultists that also realized their mistakes and are going through a redemption arc alongside their leader.
These moments when they get closer makes them realize how they complete each other fairly well.
So about the Sexuality Headcanons I had on Zellard, it used to be Biromantic Genderfluid right ? So now you just had Polyamorous to the mix and you got the new one ! (as seen below)
Tumblr media
Zellard : Biromantic Genderfluid Polyamorous
As for the Next Gen, because I have made Zellard's Next Gen already : don't worry they will remain the same. Except their design will change a bit to match more with their other parents.
Lindorië will remain the same too, and Yavana will probably change a bit because I will change her father's design. They both have a redesign because I think they deserve some changes, especially in their hairstyles.
Even their name will change ! Well, at least for Zacharie for now. I don't think it fits him. Now his name is Ixal. And the moment we saw up here was when Zellard learned that he was pregnant. After the adventure with his Nergigante Archangel, and of course after his recovery. The Wyverians told him he was pregnant but he was still so fuzzy and weak that he doesn't remember. Until it snapped as he started to feel sick. So yeah, it's future Kléïo's conception time !
Tumblr media
Before : Zacharie (2022) & After : Ixal (2024)
Note that they wanted to have a child, but at this very moment, Zellard thought of how it will go on as conception with Ixal is supposed to be different. Ya know, because he is also Changeling/Switcheroo...

Hi I'm so sorry this probably sounds stupid 😭 but uh you're shifter right? I am too and I've been thinking of shifting to PJO/HOO (I'd probably go with HOO cause of the loml Leo) but idk what time I should shift to like should I shift to the time they were battling gaia and become the 8th part of the prophecy? but that would mean I'd have to go through Leo's "death"(yk when he rescued calypso and everyone thought he's dead and all that), and I kinda don't want to battle giants that much. Or should I shift to after that, to the time of trials of apollo? And I don't want leo and calypso together (I'm too in love with him I can't see him dating calypso) so I'd have script leo rescuing her but only liking her as a friend? So like I was wondering to when do you shift? And do you use a script? And I want him and me to be a little older, can we do that in shifting? (I'm still new to all this I've shifted like 2 times help)
I'm so sorry ik you don't usually get asks like this, please ignore this and pretend you never saw this if you don't wanna answer 😭😭
this is a very good question!! also dw I'm fine getting asks about shifting I'm just keeping it on the down low a little yk this got kinda long so I tried to put important stuff in bold lol
the short version is this is ultimately compeltely and entirely up to you (ik that doesn't sound very helpful though lol) and the best shifting advice I can possibly give you is listen to your instincts!!!! listen to your higher self!!!! follow what feels right and stay away from shifttok!!!!!!
the other important thing I've been thinking about recently is how important it is to not over script, and how important it is to keep your details realistic. Like if you're scripting that you have a baby, scripting that the baby never ever cries or needs to be fed or needs a diaper change isn't a good idea bc that's not how babies work, and part of the fundimental experience of raising a baby is soothing them and feeding them and caring for them. You can script that you have a very happy baby and you always know what they need and you're always able to sooth and comfort and take care of them, but completely scripting out fundimental stuff like that detracts from the experience and ends up making it harder to connect to your reality. you can minimize things that you're not as much of a fan of or stuff that sounds inconvenient, but romanticizing the boring and mundane and annoying and in between parts is actually really really helpful for connecting and making things feel real (bc they are)
as for when you should shift to, I personally am a fan of the post HOO pre TOA era where the gang's all together and things are finally quiet at camp for a while. The fact that you're in that reality at all means it's immediatley going to be different/better than the reality without you just bc you're there. you could always script something in along the lines of you and Leo having a thing, and you're the reason he leaves C*lypso and her shitty little island. honestly I feel like Leo would still rescue her bc he feels bad for her and he's just like,, a good person?? I think the look on Cally's face when he drags her ass back to camp immediatley and reunites with you would be hilarious. you could also throw in that he lets you know on the downlow that he's doing something risky but it's to save Jason and your friends and everyone else, so you know he'll be fine and can comfort your friends when they're worried. honestly I'm a slut for a good post heroic "don't ever scare me like that again (that was super brave and I'm really proud of you and glad you're okay)" moment so do with that what you will.
you can also make a domestic dr with Leo if you just want some chill time with him. college/leo in his MIT era is a favorite of mine, along with quarantining together and infinate beach vacation.
also yes you absolutely can age yourself and other people up or down depending on when you want your dr to be!! some things that really seperate college au/older Leo from canon/teen leo for me are details like occasional stubble, buff arms n chest, a teeny tiny bit taller, and generally a little more confident and self assured.
yes I do use a script!! here are some of my dos and don'ts of scripting but remember to follow your instinct!!!! and that you don't NEED a script to shift!!!! STAY AWAY FROM SHIFTTOK!!!!!!!!
most of my scripting is through pinterest, playlists, and making outfits on shoplook bc those are the fastest ways for me to feel plugged into my dr. I'm a little dyslexic so visual stuff works best for me, and I'm really into fashion and outfits/moodboards, so that's one of my favorite things to do. another thing I like to do is make like,, what's in my bag collages almost?? like I'll pick out a bag or backpack and pick out everything that's in it, including stuff like hand sanitizer scents, lip balm, recipets, bobby pins, gum flavors, and pen colors. usually when I type out scripts, it's either for organizing stuff I might not remember off the top of my head (like the order and release dates of movies in an actor dr, or discography and track lists and lyrics in a singer dr). ANOTHER THING I LOVE TO MAKE FOR DRS IS TO DO LISTS!!!! I use to do lists all the time here, so I make little to do lists for my drs as something to ground me when I get there. It's usually a combination of kiss this person, give this person a hug, tell this person I love them and my friend (from my cr) says hi, and tasks associated with that dr. Like in a parent dr my to do list might be kiss my spouce, pick up the kids from school, make dinner, and help the kids with their homework. Again, romanticising mundane things helps a lot, and romanticizing mundane things in your CR is both good practice to get in the habit, and makes your CR feel as special as your DRs.

I walked with Death in my dreams again this morning
(tagging @neil-gaiman just in case of the small chance he may want to read my, probably crazy, encounter with the beings he wrote a comic book about) two dreams, although they sort of flowed into each other in the first one, I was in a large RV that was filled with people, and I realized that I had stopped becoming myself and have become Death, and these people in the RV were either trying to embrace Her or avoid Her here are some highlights of the dream that stuck out to me one person who was avoiding her, she went up to them, they were full of anger, and something looked off about them she touches them on the cheek and forcefully yet still with love, like a concerned mother says to them "why are you running? what are you doing here? you know you don't belong here! look at you! you're hollow and grey, and full of mists and shadows!, you need to come back home!" (on awakening I realized, this person was a ghost, a restless spirit that could not or would not pass on, and She was calling him back to the realm of the dead) another person was a 6 year old child, who had wrapped their arms tight around Her and would not leave, until She pried the kids arms from her and pulled him off of her, and said "I know, I know, you want to see Me so bad, it hurts, but I'm sorry, it's not time yet" then She sat with him and talked with him until he started to feel better then she laid him down, ran Her fingers through his hair until he drifted off to sleep and She said "that's good, go see my brother, he'll help with the pain, at least for a little while" (she was referring of course to Dream, I think in the waking world this poor kid had a terminal illness) She did welcome some, young and old, to walk with Her however, but those two stood out the most the next dream I was myself again and walking with Death, and she brought me to a mountaintop condo where there was a cocktail party going on, and several members of Her family were there I was a little worried and as She was headed into the kitchen to prepare hors d'oerves I asked "is....is it safe for me here? I'm not sure if I want to chance being around Desire or Despair in case they want to....amuse themselves with me, you know how they do, or, worse if I find myself around Delerium, frankly her laughing alone right now is pretty spine chilling" Death simply smiled and said "they know you're MY guest, and as long as I'm here they'll leave you alone, they wouldn't dare mess with you, just.....don't provoke them" and that's when another guest came up to me, and introduces herself to me as Calypso, (upon waking I did some research on her and I think she was a guest of Desire) and asked me "why are you here? what is your relationship with Death?" I glance over at Death and said "I wouldn't say I follow Her, and I don't worship Her, I'm not someone like that! it's more like I......I celebrate Her, and I celebrate a world that has Her as a part of it!" Calypso smiled and said "good answer, that's what I was hoping you would say" and walked off into the crowd, that's when I saw Desire and Despair and decided I should at least say hello to them, and that's when I woke up

Colors That Run Highlights 56
🎵 working at the strip club, yeah 🎵
Per Shouscylla's direction, Valor, Calypso, and Jericho proceeded to the Oasis's side entrance, where they were stopped by a bouncer. Calypso was hungover, so both she and Jericho were tethered to Valor and allowed her to take point. Valor had to work to convince the guy she be allowed to bring Sven into the club with her, and Calypso backed her up, saying that Sven was her service animal. (Also, the bouncer believed Sven was in fact a dog. Five points for Calypso.) Luckily, the man was convinced and allowed Sven to go along, though he implied Valor would be situated in the club's "special room" to accommodate the dragon.
Tumblr media
Valor was also starting to Karen out on the bouncer, so Calypso tried to hush her and push her into the Oasis. Meanwhile, the outside team killed time at the Reef. Kattie got tipsy and noodled on her instruments, Fea fretted over her herbo gf and started doing sword practice to work off the stress, and Avi focused on his spells and notes. When Kattie inquired about what he was up to, he explained he was looking for some way to possibly deal with Pale Night. (Flux, not currently with Valor, chewed a bit on his book and quill.)
Tumblr media
Valor and Calypso wandered around the moody, red-lit Oasis interior for a bit, unable to find Shouscylla's office mainly due to a lack of proper signage. They managed to find Cora's room, noting that there was a second name next to Cora's outside the door-- Patches. When Cora saw the three of them at her door, she yanked them in quickly and talked briefly before there was someone else approaching. Cora told everyone to hide; Valor cast Pass without Trace, turned invisible and hid behind a curtain, Jericho and Calypso hid under the bed, and Sven disguised himself as a dragon-skin rug on the floor.
In comes Patches, a koi-like mermaid that also sounds like Lina Lamont. She talked with Cora for a bit, suggesting that she get a different rug. Patches also referred to the rug Sven as a dog. Valor's ire grows. Once Patches left, Cora explained that that was her roommate, and also the club's best dancer. Cora then mercifully gave the group directions to Shouscylla's office, and they headed off. At some point there began to be a running joke that Valor was going to put a few things into the "suggestion box" as if that's a thing that exists in this underwater sex club.
Shouscylla greeted them and got right down to business in setting the group up with their rooms, and told them someone from the club's security would bring them their outfits and cuffs shortly. Calypso also made sure to mention that Jericho, being blind, would need some accommodation-- this would come in the form of a cane and (at some point) a full walk-through of the club.
In their shared room, Valor told Calypso she would be trying to seduce her way into some more information from the security, so she'd be topless when they arrived. Far be it from Calypso to stop someone from having their tits out, especially Valor, since she was taking Calypso's advice of using them to get what she wants. Once the guy showed up and knocked on the door, Calypso lied that they were "totally decent" so he'd be surprised by Valor. (Her defense was that she figured he was only talking to her, not anyone else in the room.)
Tumblr media
(re: the room's connected bathroom. we got to talking about dorm bathrooms idk)
Once the security gave the ladies their hot girl uniforms and cuffs (plus a matching collar for Sven), Valor, hand bra-ing like a champion, got him to talk a bit about how much of a security force the Oasis has, and even found out that Shouscylla is probably the strongest of everyone in the establishment-- more so than any of her guards. 👀
Tumblr media
Back to Team Outside, Fea asked Kattie if she'd like to spar with her. Kattie turned her down, citing her lack of sight and drunkenness, so Avi kindly offered to spar with Fea instead. They debate on what weapons, if any, to use so as not to hurt each other-- noting that Avi is only proficient with whips and is not a very (physically) strong guy. Fea asks Teagan for wooden sticks or something, and he retrieves some yard sticks from the back for them to use.
The three of them headed outside, where Fea staked her rapier into the ground and tethered Kattie there. After brief instruction on how to properly wield a yard stick like a weapon, Avi and Fea squared up and began to spar. Avi did surprisingly well, perhaps thanks to some assistance from... on high.
Tumblr media
The match helped Fea to de-stress a bit, giving her some insight into underwater combat. At some point Kattie got loose from the rapier, and began to float aimlessly, only faintly aware of how Fea and Avi's sparring had grown quieter with distance. Avi used Locate Creature to find her and bring her back to the tavern safely. Afterward, Avi used Sending to check in with the inside team. Calypso gave a sparse summary of events, both due to the 25 word limit and to her uninformative tendencies.
Soon enough, it was time for Valor, Sven, Calypso, and Jericho to do their (temporary) jobs. Valor and Sven were led to a lower floor designated for more unusual acts to take place, and Valor had to figure out what she would be doing and what she would be allowing in her room. It ended up being something of a dominatrix/voyeur kinda deal-- and Valor remained insistent to the other Oasis staff that she would NOT be fucking her dragon.
It was around this time that the roll20 chat became Terrible for a few minutes. I'm choosing not to share most of that here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile Calypso and Jericho did their respective, more standard performances, selling drinks and whatnot. Everyone did pretty well for themselves, earning some money and thankfully, not getting zapped by their cuffs. The DM instructed me to roll a d69 to determine how much gold Calypso made. Iconique
After work, Team Inside reconvened to consider trying some snooping and/or networking (after, of course, Calypso asked about what Valor got up to, out of curiosity for what a square rich girl would be willing to do). Valor soon recalled that her fancy dragon bow can deal lightning damage, and worked out a way (which Calypso found odd to look at) to snap the bowstring onto her own cuffs, to zap them and thus deactivate them, hopefully. She then did the same to Calypso's and Jericho's cuffs, along with Sven's collar. Since they weren't truly certain that the items were now inert, they wouldn't know until they did something punishable.
In the morning, Team Outside checked in again, hearing good things. Kattie made a bit of money doing her bard work at The Reef, while Avi and Fea spent some time together. First they went to Roka's opera house and enjoyed a show or two, though really it was Roka just running some rehearsals. After that they took the long trek up to the surface so they could both see the sun and sky. Good for them 😌
we'll be back after these messages (...in two weeks)

Does nobody think about how Percy -the last person you’d expect to be good at gardening- kept the moonlace Calypso gave him on Ogygia, and imagine when the seven and Calypso are hanging out at Percy’s house, like normal teens (cuz they deserve to be happy), and Calypso is just talking to everyone happily when something catches her eye - moonlace, and she points at the it and says “I can’t believe you planted it” and Percy just shrugs like it’s no big deal and replies, “well yeah, I promised”, pretending like he totally did not beg Annabeth like a million times to help him look after it properly, and made her promise she’d come over every few weeks to check he was doing it right?

The Wonders of Magic Pt. 1
Non magical!Twisted Boys x Witch!Reader
A/N: This has been sitting in my brain for a while since I have Little Witch Academia brainrot and I love snooty rich boys asdfljsfaj
Characters: Keep reading to find out!!
Warnings: Language and Y/N goes by she/her pronouns
Summary: Dealing with magical adventures and society deeming magic as “flashy but worthless” doesn’t deter Y/N L/N from reaching her goal of becoming a powerful witch. However, what will she do when she has to find a way to stop the selling Calypso Academy?
~~~
All your life you had dreamed of being a witch, however there was a slight problem. You weren't a magic user.
And as magic use had started to become more oppressed and scarce, magic schools were starting to open their doors to all walks of life. Making the most elite schools fall to their knees.
Either you lose your elite status or fall into debt.
So this was good opportunity for you, you managed to make it into one of the most renowned magic schools in the country, Calypso Academy. But it wasn't all peaches and cream, you weren't exactly accepted among your peers. Your family weren't magic users, nor were they wealthy. Yet you still pursued magic, there was a fire burning in your heart that just drew you in all your life. And you couldn't let your dream go just because of some mean girls. But this is the story of how you met some of your greatest obstacles.
 ~~~
It was the night of the great Ball, Calypso academy was having it's 350th anniversary. And you unlucky for you, you still didn’t know how to ride a broom since you were learning from the ground up.
So there you were, by yourself, in one of the open fields of your campus. Trying to make this broom fly.
And in your flight teacher Ms. Flint’s words, “If the broom doesn’t leave the ground, you can’t step a foot in the ball.” And so far, your feet have been stuck on the ground.
You felt horrible. I mean, what witch doesn’t know how to fly a broom? And while you were incredibly dejected
 from your failures, you knew you couldn’t just let it go.
‘The trick it to be determined, yet feel as light as a feather. Be one with the broom’ your manifestation teacher, Mrs. Fairi had softly advised. You had to do this for for her, she already put so much faith in you, she would be so disappointed if she didn’t see you at the ball.
“Nubes Volant ro!” You casted, pushing your leg to lift. Expecting your legs to come back down and for your shoes to hit the softness of the grass... but it never came.
You opened your eyes and there you were, suspended in air.
Your excitement was indescribable, but you needed to be skilled enough to meet the requirements for Ms. Flint. So you tried and tried again, and while a little shaky you still managed to fly and do a stable landing!
“I did it! Screw everyone in this academy who doubted me!” You  squealed a little loud, doing a little dance. You heard  footsteps and chuckling, but you brushed it off as some of your classmates. Too excited to care, you grabbed your things and ran off to show Ms. Flint.   But there was one problem, the entire point of this celebration was to both celebrate the anniversary but... it was begging as well. It was no secret that Calypso was losing money to pay taxes, but they were being pressured to give it all up. So to persuade the buyers, they had invited their son's to be enriched in witch culture and tradition. To prove them wrong and show that magic has value. However the students of the academy weren't aware of the true intentions behind the invites of the son's of these rich men. Many whispered in the halls about the upcoming ceremony. Talking about how handsome the young men attending were. But the day of the party was finally here! The banquet was absolutely incredible with 25 foot tables of food on both sides of the ballroom. Crystal chandeliers with floating candles illuminating and creating a heavenly golden light. And the great ancient tapestries that surrounded the room. There was no way that anything could mess up your night.
But then, you heard a shout from a classmate in the crowd. "The nobles sons! They're here!" You stopped stuffing your face for a moment. Everyone cleared the way for the grand wooden doors as they opened, a red carpet elegantly draping the piece of floor it laid on. Designer shoes clicked as they touched the ground. Every girl eyes followed as they walked, you snuck past some trying to get a glimpse of their features. They were five of them being escorted by one older gentleman, all incredibly handsome young men. One had a bright smile that was genuine and waving at some of the girls in the crowd. While the other had a smirk not paying anyone any mind, as if he was calculating something. One held a solemn expression, yet was incredibly poised and graceful. The last two however wore scowls, one that showed he most definitely didn’t want to be here while the other just looked strict.
They sat down in their seats in the front table that awaited them. Each seat was just as fancy as a king’s throne, with gold embellishments and velvet seats.
It was a cookie cut scene, they were made for this life of luxury.
~~~
It was an hour into the ceremony, showcasing tricks and theatrical dances from every witch culture from around the globe. But it was almost as though nothing was satisfying them, besides the one with white hair. While he adorned a smile, there was something behind his eyes, as though he was doing some critical thinking.
Nothing was enough for them.
But it was toward the end and the noble’s sons were promised a tour. Every witch in the school was made to study up on knowledge of the campus. So that if you were the “lucky winner” you wouldn’t look like a complete fool.
As you snacked on your chocolate filled croissant, Ms. Flint with her booming voice had called everyone’s attention to the center of the stage. Raising her wand, a split of golden light had displayed random names.
Knowing your luck, you knew you wouldn’t be picked. I mean this was probably a tactic to get people to study the school’s magical history. It did work, as if there was a slight chance you were chosen you wouldn’t want to make a fool out of yourself in front of people like you usually did. But, Principal Hendrix wouldn’t be so irresponsible as to let a random student represent the school, right?
Exactly. But even then, you sure did feel sorry for whoever was to give the tour-
“Y/N L/N!”
...
Remember what you said about shitty luck?
Shocked was an understatement. Even though you had your two best and only friends Silva and Miete patting you on the back telling you congrats and to do your best, the hammering of your heart was too heavy for you to handle.
Whispers broke out for a moment, a lot of girls were incredibly disappointed but cleared the way for you to go up the stairs and talk to Ms. Flint and Principal Hendrix.
“Good job, Y/N. Now if you wouldn’t mind, please give these young men a tour of Calypso, would you?” Principle Hendrix said gently with a smile.
“Ha, ha, of course! But surely there’s been a mistake, I mean Lydia could probably recite the information without having to read a single book-”
“No way, L/N. You were chosen, now do the tour please, the latest you can be back is at 9pm,” Ms. Flint replied, cutting you off sharply.
“You’re an incredibly charismatic student, Y/N. Just keep them entertained,” Principle Hendrix whispered as you walked toward the table.
Be charismatic, not awkward! Got it!
“Alrighty then! Who’s ready for a tour?” you said, almost giving finger guns as a mechanism.
“Oh, I am!”
“Yes,  I’ve been wanting to see the range of this property in person.”
“Yes, I would like to get this over with. I have an appointment tomorrow and I would not like to miss it.”
Other than that, all you received was a nod and an eye roll. But it’s better not to pry and ask for more from them.
Each getting out of their seats, you walked outside. Hearing cheers from the crowd and the occasional “Vil! I love you!” which made you a little embarrassed.
Feeling the night breeze and seeing the stars poke through calmed you down slightly, it was 7:45 and all you had to do was blabber at them about the school until 9.
Easy task, Y/N. Easy!
~~~
Once you got outside, the tour had been running smoothly for only a couple of minutes. But you couldn’t help but feel as though they started scanning you, as if they saw you from somewhere. Until unfortunately, the sunshine of the group’s lightbulb had went off.
“Oh! You’re the girl with the broomstick towards the front of the school! You looked so happy practicing.”
“There must be a mistake-”
“Are you sure? If so then I guess you have a doppelganger” the boy with glasses teased.
“Didn’t you say, ‘Screw everyone at this academy’?” the short, red head questioned, persecuting your behavior.
“Well some people here aren’t exactly the nicest. It was just an excitement of the moment thing, sorry,” You said, trying to get Mr. Non-Rule Breaker off your back.
~~~
So... you had accidently overshared about your adventures on campus.
It had all started when one of the boys looked shocked that the ancient Willow tree was thriving and looking beautiful as ever. When he looked at it from pictures given to him, it was completely lifeless and grey.
“This tree, it looks completely different? It’s been sickly for years! How is this possible?” He asked, as his main piece of evidence the white haired boy gave to his father to buy this property was foiled.
“Oh, that was me. They had willow worms in the roots that were ready to hatch and I accidently brought them out,” you said, a little prideful, yet it was quickly stomped out.
“That is highly irresponsible, you should’ve had a professional complete that task, not an inexperienced student,” the red haired boy scoffed, it seemed as though he didn’t respect this school at all. Yet the boy with grey hair and glasses paid him no mind, still incredibly astonished, but it was quickly wiped from his face and replaced with a somewhat of a sour look. As though you beat him at some game he was playing.
“...Interesting. I never knew magic could do something of that caliber,” he remarked,  pushing up his glasses.
“Magic is incredibly useful, Mr...”
Shit. You didn’t get their names...
“My apologies, I didn’t catch your guy’s names,” you said, placing a hand behind your head.
You had never in your life seen a group of people get so surprised, besides the other white haired boy, who was happy to tell you his name.
“I’m Kalim, Kalim-Al-Asim!” he said, shaking your hand with a vigor, “It’s a little funny that you don’t know who we are, but I like that about you!”
How was it funny? You’ve never seen these people in your entire life? The blonde man was especially offended as you glanced at him for his name.
“Vil Schoenheit. Actor, singer, dancer, beauty influenc-”
“Hmmm, Vil I can’t help but feel that you’re angry at Ms. L/N for not knowing who you are,” the boy with glasses remarked before taking your hand, “Azul Ashengrotto, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“I’m Riddle Rosehearts,” the short red-haired boy said.
“...Leona Kingscholar.”
“Alright, I’m glad I got your names! Let’s get a move on! I have got to show you some more stuff!” you said before moving along, gaining more confidence as you talked to them.
Maybe this tour wasn’t so bad after all!
~~~
Coming up:
“How did you not know who the noble’s sons are?!” Miette yelled, but her soft voice wasn’t exactly giving the shocking boom to emphasize her feelings.
“I’m sorry! Everything was completely fine after that, if this whole tour was such a big deal then I would’ve studied them more instead of the school,” you said, completely pooped out from last night.
So much pressure on you made you very tired out, and all of these new details coming out made you feel even more guilty for your half-assed tour.

Why I love Leo X Calypso
Hi everyone, I don’t know why I’m doing this, but I felt like I need to speak out my emotion or else I’m gonna have a panic attack worrying about this ship. You don’t need to force an argument or debate or anything like that. This is just a simple talk about why I love this ship so much and how I’m connected to it deeply. I’m not trying to force anyone on shipping them nor start a ship war. Just a simple talk, that’s all. Please don’t hate me. ;~;
Okay.
Every relationship has issues, it’s fact. But love is stronger, therefore the two can endure. For me, I love the ship the moment it was introduced. If I were to describe my reaction, I would say I was Charles from Brooklyn nine-nine.
Tumblr media
(NINE NINE to you B99 fans)
I mean, Leo Valdez and calypso both been through a lot in their own ways, yet in similarity. Both got hurt, was lonely and felt like third-wheel to everybody. Leo though, he goes far and wide for his friends. What he did for Calypso in HoO, I mean C’mon! He LITERALLY died to save her. Sure it seems too quick to start a relationship (to be fair though, it’s a fictional story), but I mean, how far would you go to save a girl from an unbreakable curse? And calypso, poor girl been through enough already. Sure she’s a daughter of a titan and joined their side in the first war and almost destroy several relationships in the centuries; but, despite all that and her curse, with Leo, she was being herself, just herself. No curse to make her fall in love, no god to make her let him go, so she was stuck with him with no way out. Until, she got along with him. She saw more and more of Leo’s good side. And even though I haven’t read ToA yet (I will soon), she probably seen his worse. But if What Reyna said is true, Calypso will accepts him entirely.
Another reason I like this ship is that it reminds me of another one. Though it may not look like it to you (and that’s fine), it feels familiar to me.
Tony and Pepper in the MCU
Tumblr media
(Btw, Tony, we miss you 3000)
I know, stretching a long one here. But hear me out. Tony and Leo are both… unique. They’re smart, cunning, and always finds a way out of their own mess (Most of the time). And both Pepper and Calypso are both dating these two and somehow keeping them in check (Sometimes).
Now, in Civil War, Tony and Pepper broke up (I was devastated) but then got married at Infinity War. Leo and Calypso are going through a rough patch. I mean, if Tony and Pepper can make it work, why can’t these two? I mean, Tony fought for a world for Pepper and the people to be safe, only to die to save the Universe. Leo died to save the world AND free Calypso. (I mean… it’d be cool to see Leo make his own Iron-man-like suit, there should be a fanfic on that) Both Leo and Tony died for a future, a future for their family. And even though Leo got lucky and came back, we can’t forget how much these two did for their world and family.
I have another reason, but it’s a more personal thing. I don’t think you guys wanna hear it though. Just some resemblance in my family and felt happy and peaceful with this ship. XD
Now, I’m not gonna lie, it’s not my #1 ship (Percabeth btw), but it’s definitely right behind it. Like, it’s neck-to-neck; both I love so much that I can’t pick which I love more.
But anyways, I’m not trying to force anyone’s opinion on anyone. You’re all free to love whatever you want. I guess I just wrote this to remind myself, and those that also ship Caleo, why we love this ship. I mean, not exactly; we all have different reasons and I understand that.
like, reblog, or share it to other fans if you wish. I’m just reassuring you fans out there, you’re not alone. And if you guys have any cute fanarts or fanfics with Caleo, please tell me where. I’ve been dying for more.
I’d make one myself, but I already committed to several fanfics already AND a Percy Jackson X Spider-Man Fanfic Trilogy with Estelle being the MC.

CALYPSO 🐚 ☕️
Part 1 & Part 2
Part 3/3:
Nines froze as the human’s body melded to his. Gavin kept his eyes shut and his lips moving. Then what he’d been bracing for finally came.
Pain.
Sweet glorious pain, blossoming everywhere Nines gripped his body. Gavin was sure that his lips would bruise under the pressure of the reciprocal kiss… that his rib cage would shatter if Nines held him any tighter… that his lungs would burst if they didn’t fill with air soon…
A wolf-whistle broke through the stunned silence in the yard.
Gavin pulled back, light-headed from the rush of oxygen and drain of adrenaline. He didn’t fall though. Didn’t even move an inch. Strong arms and a heated gaze kept him pinned.
//
\\
“Of all the things in the world… why coffee?”
“I could ask you the same.”
Gavin tucked his head into the crook of Nines’ neck, cuddling closer.
“Hmm… I think weird working hours made me actually need the caffeine… but the bean snobbery just came with the rest of my superiority complexes.”
Nines laughed. It was more of an exhale than an actual laugh, but Gavin was thankful for it nonetheless.
“And you?”
Nines kissed his forehead, prolonging his answer as much as he could before finally relenting with a sigh.
“The reason you’re asking… is because running a café is just about the last thing you’d expect an android like me to be doing. And… that’s your answer. That’s exactly why I wanted it.”
“To subvert expectations…?”
“To not be the terrible thing I was meant to be.”
Gavin’s breath hitched at the depth of emotion in Nines’ voice. He didn’t dare look up to meet his eye and settled for pressing his lips to the razor-sharp jawline.
“I dunno what kinda code runs through you, but believe me when I say you don’t have it in you to be… terrible.”
Nines scoffed at that.
“How can you say that after all the shit you’ve seen me do.”
“I can say that after all the shit I’ve seen others do. Fifteen years on the job, remember? I can vouch that righteous anger is one of the least terrible things out there.”
When Nines didn’t respond, Gavin decided to move the ship out of uncharted waters. He propped himself up on an elbow and ran a hand down the android’s smooth chest.
“In fact, I think it’s downright sexy.”
That did the trick. Nines pressed Gavin into the mattress with a low growl and rolled over him, clamping his mouth over his throat. Their hips aligned and the conversation ended.
//
\\
“Ralph tried hard but the machine is not working. Ralph is stuck.”
“Move. Let me see.”
Gavin took the filter holder and disconnected it from the espresso machine with a firm tug. He leapt away in shock as water came rushing out. That was absolutely not supposed to happen.
“Er… I’ll get a mechanic friend to take a look later. Why don’t you go check on inventory?”
Ralph shuffled away with a thoroughly sceptical look in his eye. Gavin sighed openly once the android was out of earshot.
The café was in shambles.
The vandals may have gotten as good as they gave… but they’d left their mark. Even with insurance, there was no way such a new establishment could financially recover from a setback like that.
Nines said nothing but seethed with his usual brand of silent, impotent rage.
Unable to bear the slammed car doors and dismissive grunts any longer, Gavin had taken a solo day off to come down to the Calypso and see what could be done.
Not much, without a boatload of money, it seemed.
He sat down with a sigh and Ralph brought over a cup of coffee. Black. A pour-over. He set a bowl of runny eggs and a small basket of bread down on the table too.
Gavin looked up in surprise. Ralph shrugged.
“Nines is telling Ralph that you left without breakfast. Ralph’s equipment is all broken so Ralph just made something simple.”
Touched beyond words, Gavin motioned for Ralph to sit down with him instead of scurrying off into the shadows as per his usual habit.
He took a sip of the hand-poured drip coffee and broke a piece of the bread, dragging it through the eggs, European style. It was utterly homely and reminded of him of some bygone era that he’d needlessly bypassed. He looked up and met Ralph’s mildly unsettling stare.
“So… why the name Calypso? There’s nothing beach-themed or Caribbean about the place.”
“Nines chose it. After the Greek goddess.”
“Huh. And she was the goddess of coffee? Did they even have coffee back in those Hercules Orgy Olympics days?”
“She is a sea nymph. She detained the mythic hero Odysseus on her island for seven years.”
Gavin’s brows furrowed as he swallowed a mouthful of fresh bread.
“Did you bake this?”
“Yes. Ralph is baking daily. Ralph does it first thing in the morning at five. It is very calming to knead the dough and hear the birdsong.”
“It’s phcking delicious. Leavened perfectly. Now back to the name. This goddess nymph creature. She doesn’t sound very nice. She trapped this hero dude, right? Reminds me of my ex. Why name this pretty café after her?”
“Ralph can only imagine that Nines’ fascination with Calypso is the ambiguity of her nature. She can seduce and manipulate, but she can also heal. She is neither good nor evil.”
Gavin drained his coffee and sank back in his chair contemplatively.
“What do you think she is, Ralph?”
Ralph’s LED flickered and his eyes dipped to the table. He knew what Gavin was asking.
“Calypso is immortal. Calypso cannot help but fall in love with every sailor who lands on her shores. Calypso dreams of an eternal husband but lets Odysseus go when it’s clear he wishes to return to his wife. Well, maybe only when the Gods commands her to… but she releases him without harm!”
Gavin waited. Ralph’s head snapped up and he spoke in a short burst.
“Calypso is mythical. It does not matter what she is. Nines is real. Nines is good. Very good. Honest and honourable! Ralph will do anything for Nines!”
Gavin leaned back in his chair with the satisfied smile of an experienced police negotiator who’d gotten exactly where he wanted to.
//
\\
“What the hell is this? Where did you get so much money from?”
Nines’ amber LED cycled furiously as he took in the sight of the restored café. Ralph was humming to himself as he proudly polished the knobs of their repaired espresso machine.
Gavin led Nines by the hand to look at the repainted walls… the new furniture… the new crockery replacing what had been smashed…
“How…?”
“Oh I just embodied my inner Gen Z and tapped into the power of social justice.”
Nines looked thoroughly nonplussed.
“Crowdfunding, baby. I set up a link and Ralph told everyone on Twitter what happened to him and the café. Well, showed them, more like.”
Nines looked up at the ceiling and his LED slowly returned to a calm blue as he understood… but when he looked back down, his expression wasn’t any less troubled.
“Okay I just saw it. Edited footage from his optical units and a tearful testimonial. Ethically questionable, but clever.”
“Super effective. We overshot our target by a couple hundred bucks.”
“Hmm. People are kind.”
“Yes. They’ve actually done more for you. Look. Connor gave me this earlier today.”
Gavin reached into his jacket and produced an envelope. Nines’ eyes widened as he spotted the official seals of the Mayor’s office, the Manfred Estate and New Jericho.
“Someone started a petition… to let you back behind the helm of the Calypso. It really took off. I don’t know how you didn’t hear-”
“I muted any mentions of myself and the other RKs from showing up in my newsfeed.”
“Then this makes for a good surprise.”
Gavin gently pushed the envelope into the android’s hands and watched him open it with a precise fingernail flicked under the wax. He scanned the contents of the letter in a split second and let it fall through his fingers.
Without warning, he scooped Gavin up and set him down on a polished table for a deep kiss of even deeper gratitude. Ralph turned his back on them with a bashful giggle.
//
\\
“Baby.”
Nines didn’t respond.
“Hey baby?”
“Hmm...”
There was an intensity to the grumble that had Gavin second-guessing whether to persist. Being Nines’ lover didn’t exempt him from the consequences of asking stupid questions.
“Your thoughts are fucking loud. Just say whatever you want to.”
“Oh. Um… I was actually wondering… I mean, you don’t have to tell me… but like why… um…”
“Why haven’t I turned my badge in yet?”
“Yeah…”
Nines turned on his side and brushed the back of his hand over Gavin’s cheek. The intimate gesture sent a thrill through the human despite how much more intimate they’d just been in the recent past.
“Because I haven’t decided what to do next.”
Gavin’s brows knitted together.
“What do you mean? Aren’t you going to take back your business?”
Nines’ wan smile told him all he needed to know.
“Why?”
“It’s doing really well in Ralph’s hands. He’s capable. He’s creative. And I don’t think it’s fair for me to go back and get in his way all of a sudden.”
“He needs you.”
“He absolutely doesn’t. It’s his café. You helped him get back on his feet and he’s going to be fiiiiine without me.”
“Is it because you don’t wanna be her anymore?”
Nines scrunched his nose up in confusion.
“Who?”
“Calypso. The siren who trapped the Oddball.”
That earned Gavin a heartfelt laugh.
“Odysseus, Gavin.”
“Yeah. You were like Calypso and now you’re letting go of the coffeeshop because you figured it wasn’t meant to be!”
Nines frowned and pretended to check the human for a temperature. Gavin swatted his hands away with mock petulance.
“Fine, I’m probably way off the mark. You tell me what the deal is then!”
Arms snaked around his waist and pulled him flush against the android’s defined chest. Lips brushed the shell of his ear and when Nines spoke next, it was in the huskiest of undertones.
“I’m Odysseus. Not Calypso.”
The realisation was painfully obvious in hindsight.
“I’m the one who’s stuck on an endless journey home. I’ve faced a hundred artificial trials and tribulations. I’ve been a puppet at the hands of false gods. I answer existential questions to prove my self-worth every single day.”
Nines paused to gauge Gavin’s reaction. When he received none, he pressed a brief kiss to the human’s bare shoulder before continuing.
“It’s been a long journey. But not a pointless one. Every metaphorical island I’ve visited has granted me something. From literally running into Ralph in an old building… to defending our turf from other stray androids… getting ourselves off the street… setting up a café from scratch… being arrested on opening day… ending up on the police force with you…”
Gavin recognised that as his cue to squirm around in Nines’ arms and peck him on the lips.
“So who’s Cyclops?”
“What?”
“The story’s starting to come back to me now. Your boy Oddy fought a one-eyed monster on one of the islands he went to. Who’s the Cyclops in your story?”
Nines huffed another breathy laugh.
“Markus, probably. Connor is definitely Helios.”
“Who’s your wife?”
“Definitely not you.”
Gavin elbowed him in the ribs. An action that had more repercussions on him than Nines.
“So which island are you off to next?”
“I have no idea. But it doesn’t matter. I might already be home.”

🦔 - a snippet from 'First-aid Kit'! (my 'one-bed' KitTy fic that's still in the works :')
Ty watched as Kit took long strides into the room that probably led to his bedroom, and his gaze fell on Kit’s muscled legs. They were long, and as shown from his loose sweatpants, very strong and thick. Ty had to admit, he had quite often played the silent spectator when Kit did his push-ups, and as all the back muscles shifted and contracted, Ty found himself unreasonably sweaty. Undoubtedly, Kit was very handsome, and quite buff too, but what was it about him that made Ty so… nervous around him? Not the usual kind of nervous, the oh-my-god-i-am-going-to-burn-up-if-he-touches-me, my-heart-is-pounding-with-a-single-look-from-him kind of nervous. Not to mention sweaty Kit exercising made Ty want to rip his clothes off.
His own, he hoped.
As Kit disappeared into his bedroom, Ty pondered over it. Sure, Kit was handsome and sure, his blue eyes seems depthless to Ty when he looked into them, making his heart pound, and sure, Kit cared about him, and sure, Kit knew a lot about Ty when he was going through a breakdown and how to calm him down when he was going through it, but what was about him that made Ty so… hot?
So much that his face was red?
No. That was probably the pain.
Maybe?
What? Ty abruptly shook his head, making the bleeding slash on his abdomen hurt even more so. As the room began to swim before his eyes, Ty giggled, almost delirious. Why was I thinking about Kit’s muscled body again? Yeah, because I saw Kit’s strong and thick thighs. Ty burst into giggles once more. Strong and thick? Really?
“Ty? What is it? Why are you laughing?” Kit came into his blurry vision once more, now carrying a first-aid kit and a stele. He looks adorable, Ty thought, as Kit looked on with a concerned look on his face. With a furrowed ‘V’ formed between his eyebrows, and blue eyes, an endless expanse of a clear azure sky on a sunny day, and a pout on his full, pink lips, he looks absolutely adorable.
Not to mention ravishing.
“Ty?” Kit voiced after getting no response apart from an intense stare from Ty. He lifted the box. “I brought the first-aid kit with me. Do you mind?”
First-aid kit.
First-aid Kit.
Something about it struck Ty as hilarious, as he burst into helpless laughter once again. But the pain in his abdomen chose to double up in pain right then, and he started gasping in agony instead.
“Ty! Wait! Lie down! And for God’s sake, quit laughing! It’s hurting your stomach!”
Eventually, Ty sobered, the sudden pain making the world clearer again. Kit bent down and kneeled, putting the white box nearby and took the stele. “Ty? I’m going to use the Repel Poison rune on you. Is that okay?”
Ty appreciated that Kit asked before he drew the rune, even though the demon poison was making him delirious and harder to think. But then again, Kit knew exactly how to take care of Ty and what he liked and didn’t like. It made his heart beat faster. Something he loved about Kit.
Wait, what?
Love?
Ty nodded in response to Kit’s question, desperately trying to focus, and shove the thoughts away. Now was not the time to think about it and ponder over it. Why did he love Kit?
His mind helpfully offered fifty or so reasons why, but before he could go through all of them, the light pressure of Kit’s stele, a welcome burn invaded Ty’s mind, and he moaned at the relief as the rune began to work its magic. Kit patiently held a wet runed cloth beneath the ugly slash, collecting the demon poison pouring onto it. As the pain began to subside, Ty became hyper-aware of the fingers Kit had braced on his bare side, and goosebumps began to appear on his arms. Kit, clearly misunderstanding, stroked the skin there, thinking Ty was in more pain, and Ty couldn’t be more frustrated at Kit at that moment as he fought the urge to moan again valiantly. The throb on a lower part of his body began on a steady rhythm, and Ty tried to wriggle out of Kit’s touch. But Kit firmly stopped him, a warning in his sky-blue eyes. The intensity of his gaze was like a stroke on his body, and Ty couldn’t look away as he shivered.
Their locked gazes lit a soft fire in Ty’s veins, the flames licking the insides of his body, under his skin, and in his heart. He so badly wanted to reach out and touch Kit’s sharp jaws, wondering if the skin would be as soft and smooth as he had imagined. Kit’s eyes seemed to burn a hole in him and he was more than welcome to do it. Burn him whole. Rip him apart. Agonise him. Because it was Kit, and he knew he wouldn’t mind. As long as it’s Kit.
Kit must’ve recognised the expression on Ty’s face because he swallowed and oh-so-slowly looked towards his own fingers on Ty’s bare skin and brushed them across. This time, Ty couldn’t fight the moan that escaped his throat. It was deep, breathy and almost like a growl, in a voice that Ty didn’t recognise.
Kit’s eyes were blown wide, and it would’ve been almost comical were it not that Ty was lying on Kit’s lunge half-naked, with Kit touching him on his bare skin. Yes, definitely not comical, Ty thought, as the blue eyes now staring into his grey ones darkened, turning into a deep shade of stormy ultramarine blue. The arousal swirling in them had every part of Ty stiffen in attention.
But the moment was ruined as soon as Kit went to touch underneath his other side, on which he was lying - and brushed to find a sticky fluid substance. His fingers came away red and Ty stifled a curse. Kit exclaimed looking down at it.
“We need to bandage your injury! Jeez!”
Ty laid his head back, leaning back but still facing Kit. “Yes, of course,” he said in a resigned tone. “Go right ahead.”
aaaaaah hope u liked it! I'll write the Jocelyn stuff separately and tag u :)

Cursed / Armando Salazar x OC / Chapter 6
Chapter 5: https://flyingflosser09.tumblr.com/post/672713327422636032/cursed-armando-salazar-x-oc-chapter-5
Tumblr media
There was a stir among the crew of the Silent Mary as the day dragged on. Murmurs went around the officers discussing the possibility of their prisoner surviving the fall from earlier. They all saw the extend of her injury, the blood pooling underneath her head, how still she lied… even ghosts know there is no coming back after that.
Assumptions were made, the word ‘witch’ was passed around, some of them even wondered if she’s not a sea goddess herself. That would explain the way they found her on that Navy vessel, locked up in the brig with her hands constrained. They’ve heard the tales of Calypso and her power over the ocean. Could this girl be…
No. Probably not. If she was the powerful Calypso, she would’ve found her way off the ship by now and not even a ghostly crew would be capable of stopping her. And until they have proof she is, indeed, a witch, speculating is all they will do.
Shamefully, Lesaro also pondered the possibility of her being a witch earlier. That is all his head could come up with the explain to him what happened. But deep down, something told him he’s wrong. It’s a feeling he hasn’t felt in many, many years.
What was it called again? Suspicion… no. Intuition? Yes, intuition! That’s the word.
He’s been trapped in the Triangle for so long, he forgot what it felt like to be anything other than enraged or emotionless inside. This girl, this Samira, sparked something within him and, for a brief moment, he recalled the man he used to be before the curse. A man with good judgement of character.
And his good judgement tells him there is no way that she is a witch.
Lesaro spent the day at the ship’s helm, gazing into the fog and reminiscing what it felt like to be gripping the wheel and steering the Mary through the oncoming waves - all while waiting for the right moment to pay a visit to the girl in the captain’s cabin. But minutes turned into hours, his daydream took him beyond the Triangle to the open waters of the Caribbean, where he knows only one heading: home.
And then hours turned into a day and the Lieutenant realizes with a start that he completely forgot what he’s been waiting for all this time. In fact, he realizes he hasn’t seen the girl leave the Great cabin either while he’s been rooted to the helm. Has he really been standing here since yesterday? Has his track of time finally gone after two and a half decades?
Perhaps now is the best time to visit. Surely, she can’t still be recovering from her fall, can she? He forgot how long it takes humans to heal from their injuries.
Leaving the helm and the ship’s wheel, he floats down the wooden stairs and stops at the Great cabin’s door. Just like he’s used to, he delivers three knocks and waits for the thump that signals him to enter. However, it slipped his mind that it is her who is occupying the cabin and not their Capitán, and Lesaro almost stepped back in surprise when the door opens from the inside for him to enter.
He is even more surprised to not only see the girl’s welcoming face when she opens the door but as well as a soft, golden hue that comes from deeper in the cabin. It drowns the walls in light and, although dim, brings an ancient sense of awe to his dead soul.
“Lesaro,” she greets him with… a smile? For him? “Good morning. What brings you here?”
“I…” he trails off and clears his throat. Is it possible for ghosts to fall speechless? “I came to see if you’re feeling well, miladi.”
“Miladi?” She breathes a laugh, “I am no lady, Lieutenant. For that, I had to be born into nobility. But please, do come in.”
Should he take off his hat? Should he bow? It’s been so long since he’s been formally invited in, he has no idea what to do. At last, he settles on floating casually inside and halts in the center of the room. He drinks in the light coming from the three lanterns placed about the room. It is as if his ghostly eyes can see everything, every crack in the wall, every splinter of the half-exploded desk, even the scorch marks it left on the floor and ceiling. All those tiny details were lost to him before.
“I was fortunate enough to find some oil in a few of the lanterns,” she says behind him, “Some of it I will use to keep the room lit, the rest goes to finding a way to keep warm at night. It is slightly better now that I can warm my hands on the glass.”
“Sí, sí…” is all Lesaro can say as he admires the golden-orange glow coming from the small containers.
I silently watch the Lieutenant reach for one of the lanterns. He runs his pale fingers over the glass and slightly pulls back to look at them in awe. Then, he wraps both hands around the container and blinks at the rays of light protruding from the spaces between his fingers.
How long has it been since they saw any kind of light?
“Can you feel the warmth?” I gently ask, taking a step closer to the ghost of a man at the table.
Lesaro shakes his head, still enthralled by the lantern, “No, but I can imagine, yes? The color of the light is warm, so it must feel that way as well.”
So, they can’t feel anything?
“What…” I swallow the lump of pity in my throat, “…what else do you miss to feel?”
He stills and silently stares into the light as if needing to think about the question first. Instantly, I feel bad for asking. They haven’t stepped foot outside this cursed place in twenty-five years. Either he has an endless list of things he misses, or he has completely and at all forgotten. I cannot imagine going so long without feeling the sun or smelling the fresh saltwater air or being incapable of feeling in general.
“For now,” he speaks almost absentmindedly, “I would just like to feel the wind, señorita.”
There are worldly desires - riches and reputation - and then there is this, a man desperate to feel something so trivial as the wind.
Out of nowhere, I am struck with an idea.
Lesaro blinks when I grab the lantern off the table, thus breaking its spell over him, “Where are you going?”
“I have an idea,” I tell him on my way to the door, “Come with me.”
Although his steps aren’t as loud as the Capitán's, I am very much aware of him following me out of the Great cabin and up to the helm. Crew members look up as we ascend the stairs, surprised to see me outside and, well, alive, and shocked to see their Lieutenant being escorted by their prisoner and not the other way around.
“Put your hands on the wheel,” I tell Lesaro once at the helm.
He looks at me strangely but grabs hold of the wheel’s handles nonetheless. At this point, I’m certain the crew is more curious about me rather than anything else.
Making sure Lesaro is holding on to the wheel, I place my hands on the wooden banister that separates the quarter from the main deck and face forward. I focus on the air around me and try to find a current. And then I feel it, the smallest tether of air molecules moving about. Closing my eyes, I inhale deeply before summoning them towards the ship.
At first, nothing happens and Lesaro remains unmoving at the wheel, waiting for a strong gust of wind to blow his hat off probably. But a minute later, the unraveling sails of the Silent Mary start swaying in a ghostly manner and the ship creaks ominously.
A soft breeze sweeps over the deck and passes through the ghosts. Although it does nothing to clear the thick fog that floats about the air, it does manage to whip back some of the officers’ hair and hats. But the breeze was just the momentum I was building up to before getting a better hold on the current.
All at once, the rigging of the ship pulls taut and the rattling of the shrouds fills the eerie silence. Like one man, the officers grab at their hats when a strong gust of wind sends them staggering backward, as light and ghostly as they are. The Mary creaks and moans when the wind-driven waves crash against its waterline, threatening to knock it off the rocks it’s been stranded upon for twenty-five years.
My hair whips back and I steal a glance at Lesaro over my shoulder. He has a death grip on the wheel with one hand, while the other is keeping his tricorn hat in place, and he… smiling. As disturbing as it is with the black liquid and their blueish lips, he’s smiling. He is back at sea, sailing the crystal waters of the Caribbean, battling the oncoming waves, and feeling the saltwater breeze in his face. His hair has come loose from their tight curls and is floating in the wind much like the Capitán's does on their own.
“Can you feel it, Lesaro?” I call to him above the wind.
“Sí,” he smiles and blinks rapidly against the gusts of air in his face, “I feel it. It is… it is magnífico.”
“Then you better watch out of that wave.”
“What w-” before he could finish that sentence, I extend my right arm and an enormous wave breaks against the side of the ship, splashing all over the deck and missing us by inches. I summon another one and this time, the Lieutenant spins the wheel to the left, pretending the ship is actually moving and avoiding the collision.
“We need to sail with the wind,” I call out, “We need to unfurl the sails!”
“All hands on deck, unfurl the sails!” The Lieutenant echoes to the crew.
The pretending comes to a slight pause when the officers only look among each other quizzically, unsure whether that was an actual order or not.
“You heard the Lieutenant,” I say to them, “Unfurl the sails, weigh anchor, vamo, vamo!”
Like one man, each officer scurries off to obey orders. Smiling at their compliance, I reach both arms forward and another gush of wind nearly swoops me off my feet. The waves are reaching the sides of the ship by now, breaking below the banisters and washing over the decks.
“Lieutenant, do you see that?” I ask Lesaro and point ahead into the fog, “Over there, on the horizon.”
He leans over the wheel and squints against the saltwater spray in the air, “Santa Maria… pirates! I see them!”
“Shall we pursue them?”
“Sí, sí, full speed ahead!”
“Lower the main… uh, the foresails!” I correct myself when remembering the mainmast is currently broken, “Tighten the jibs! Onward, men, let’s catch us some pirates!”
The crew is starting to catch on and obey orders more quickly now. And with their eagerness to play along, I allow myself to enjoy my abilities for the first time in… forever. Besides the night I met Henry and showed him what I can do, I’ve never encountered another soul who found joy in my curse. Seeing the crew being filled with purpose although pretend, seeing Lesaro smile, almost makes my curse seem like a blessing.
“There it is!” I call at the crew.
All their heads jerk to where I’m pointing and, with a flick of my left hand, the fog swirls and alter until it forms the outlines of a pirate ship. A few more wrist movements later, and the ship gains detail. The Spanish officers watch in awe as foggy pirate figures operate the deck of the fog ship, preparing to battle the Silent Mary.
“They’re upon us, load the canons!” I call above the noise… only to be met with more quizzical looks. Oh, right, they have no canons. Clearing my throat, I rephrase, “Swords it is, then!”
And with that, I summon the fog pirates onto the Mary. They float over the main deck like a wave of gray mist, drawing their weapons to attack the officers. However, the Spaniards are more than prepared. With ghostly war cries, they clash swords with the pirates and, surprisingly, their weapons don’t pass through the mist, making this experience all the more real.
Still maintaining control over the elements, I manage to spare some concentration and cast my gaze upwards… and moments later, it starts to rain. It is a full-out storm now and the Silent Mary and her crew have come alive with purpose, withstanding the rocking of the waves, sailing with the wind, and battling a crew of fog pirates as they most likely did when they were still alive.
They deliver impressive blows to the pirates’ figures, hacking and slashing at their limbs until finding a gap to stab their blades into their hearts. The moment the fatal blow strikes the pirate, they disappear in an explosion of mist and saltwater spray, thus proclaiming the officer victorious.
“We are winning, Lieutenant!” I call to Lesaro.
He is beaming from the wheel now, black liquid dripping from his mouth corner, but at least he’s enjoying himself. At last, when Santos cuts down the last fog pirate, Lesaro thrusts his fist into the air, “Victory!”
“Victory!” The rest of the crew echoes before bursting out in celebration.
My heart swells with delight when they embrace each other with praise and compliments. Some even poke fun of their fellow officers by jokingly criticizing their fighting techniques or commenting how they saw them stumbling with their footwork over there.
I did that - my curse did that. It made people smile…
But, out of nowhere, every officer stills and falls silent for some unknown reason. My smile also falters upon noticing Lesaro’s eyes trained on something on the deck. Following his gaze, I finally see what caused the good mood to disappear.
The Capitán stands among the crew and looks the epitome of unimpressed. His gold-flecked eyes travel left and right to the waves still breaking against the sides of the ship - and then fall upon me.

you don’t want this (trust me on this one) (1/1)
warnings: angst. its very sad folks.
summary: Nico visits an old friend
word count: 1,513
read on ao3
“Hey.”
Nico winced as his voice reverberated against the stone walls. He hadn’t even spoken loudly, but the echo seemed to amplify his voice. He was glad there wasn’t anyone else around to overhear what he was about to say.
“I have some stuff I need to say, and I need to just get them out, so… Just bear with me, okay?” Nico took a deep breath, stuffed his hands in his pockets to hide their shaking, and dropped his gaze to his shoes. “I miss you.”
His voice stopped. He had so much more to say, and he’d thought that if he started talking, then he wouldn’t be able to stop. But now he had everything building up inside of him and threatening to push out, and he couldn’t manage to get his vocal cords vibrating again.
Nico cleared his throat, and tried again. “I… I didn’t, like, script this out, but I know what I need to say to you, so hopefully I don’t skip over something important. I mean, the missing you part is probably the most important thing.” He reached up and pinched his nose as he huffed in frustration, and then ran his hand through his hair, tugging on the ends as if that would help him find the words.
“It’s just that, if I’d known that the last time I saw you was going to be the last time, I would’ve, like, made it count, or something! I don’t even remember the actual last time I saw you, because the last time I remember seeing you definitely wasn’t actually the last time.” He huffed again. “Did that even make sense? Whatever. I just know that the last memory I have with you involved me snapping at you because I was tired and pissed off, and-- And I hate that that’s the last thing I remember. Because I know you wouldn’t have left without saying goodbye, but I don’t remember saying goodbye!”
Nico took another breath, and slowly lowered himself to the ground until he was sitting. “I don’t...blame you. You had a lot going on, and I was probably more of an annoyance to you than a friend most of the time, but… I love you, and I miss you.”
His hands fidgeted in his lap before one finally reached out, tracing the J that had been freshly carved into the stone wall as part of a name. “I think… I think that’s most of it,” Nico whispered. “I know I probably should have summoned you, because I don’t know for sure that you can actually hear me, but… But there’s one more thing. And I needed to make sure you weren’t going to interrupt this next part, or try to talk me out of anything.”
Nico drew his hand back, dropping his gaze to his lap again. He couldn’t even stand to look at his friend’s name as he said the words. “It’s, um. It’s two things, actually. Two very stupid things - or, maybe one thing that’s a little more stupid than the other - and if you were here, you would definitely try to talk me out of...well, one of them, for sure.” He took another pause, another breath, and started to smile. “The first one is… I’m gonna tell Will I love him, because… Well, first, because it’s true, and second--” His soft smile instantly flipped into a frown, and he had to force himself to swallow down the emotion he could feel building up again. “I don’t know that I’ll have another chance to tell him. Because the second thing is that I’m going back to Tartarus. We both are. I mean, I’m going back, but Will is coming with me. And… And if something happens to one of us… I don’t want to go without telling him.”
He forced himself to glance away, tilting his head up and blinking his eyes furiously as tears finally started to form. He wiped at his eyes with the sleeve of his jacket quickly, as if trying not to make it noticeable. “The Tartarus thing is the stupid part. Did I make that clear enough? I don’t want you to think that I think that telling Will how I feel is stupid. I mean, as stupid. Because he should already know how I feel without me having to say it. Like, I’m pretty sure I’ve made it clear by now, but… I guess it’s always a nice thing to hear confirmed.”
Nico sniffed, pausing for a few moments as if waiting for a soul to manifest in front of him whether he asked it to or not, but nothing changed.
“So, um. I don’t really know how much you know,” Nico said softly, “so I guess I’ll catch you up to speed as best I can. Hazel’s a praetor now, so her and Frank are kind of like the ultimate power couple around here. Apparently Reyna stepped down sometime after you--” He swallowed down the word. “I haven’t seen her in a while, so I don’t actually know what she’s up to. Nobody will actually tell me anything, so when I leave here, I’m gonna go see what I can dig up.” He shrugged. “Or, I dunno. Maybe I don’t want to know. Nobody actually knows that I’m here anyway. Will and I are leaving in a week, and I wanted to make sure I had time to rest up after making this jump, so I didn’t actually tell anyone I was coming. And if they see that I’m here, then they might figure out that something’s up, and--”
He tipped his head back, but it didn’t stop the tears from rolling down his cheeks this time. “I get it, you know? Why you didn’t make that goodbye memorable. I don’t want to… I’m scared to say goodbye. Because I almost didn’t make it out last time, so what if this time, I can’t? Like, maybe I should just let my last goodbye to Hazel be from the last time I visited - a happy goodbye, instead of one that’s going to leave her worrying about me for the rest of my life.”
Nico drew his knees up to his chest and hugged them. “Except, I know, I know, that’s a bad idea. Because then I’ll have her showing up at my empty gravesite, yelling at me just like I’m doing to you right now.”
He scrubbed his hands over his face. “Okay, sorry. Where was I? Um. So, Percy and Annabeth are here now, too, with Grover-- Did you ever meet Grover? He’s their best friend. I was on a quest with him once. He’s cool. I think you’d like him, but you Romans always had a weird relationship with fauns, so I dunno how you’d feel about a satyr. Um, and Leo’s doing good, last I heard. Staying out of trouble. I think he’s teaching shop classes to homeless kids in Indiana, or something. And Calypso’s going to high school. I heard you tried that, for some gods forsaken reason. Why would you voluntarily put yourself through that? Will just told me that when we get back, he’s going to start studying for AP tests, whatever those are. He says they’ll help him get into college, I guess.”
He paused, as if realizing what he’d said a second too late. “He’s...so certain that we’re both coming back, but… You know what happened when Percy and Annabeth were there. Somebody has to stay behind, and… If it comes to it, I’m going to do whatever it takes to get him out. He’s got so much potential to do anything he could ever dream of, and I… I’m just an old man who missed my shot at a life the first time around.”
Nico groaned, hiding his face in his hands again. “Gods, I can practically hear you lecturing me. Okay, I’m moving on. Who did I miss… Oh. Piper. She’s...good, I think, if what Apollo said can be trusted - and isn’t that weird? I’m actually listening to what a god has to say. And on top of that, a god is talking to us. Apollo visits, like, once a week. I think he’s going to try taking over when Mr. D’s sentence is up at camp. Sorry, anyway. Piper, she has a… A girlfriend, I think, but people usually say partner when talking about Shel, and I don’t really know what the difference is. I’m trying to learn, still, but there’s just...so much.”
He stopped to think. “I’m...pretty sure that’s everyone. Everyone that I’ve heard something about, anyway. So, um, I should probably get going if I want to see everyone before Will realizes I’m not at dinner. If all goes well… If I’m still alive after all of this, I’ll summon you, and we can catch up for real.”
Nico got to his feet. “And, um. If not…” He chuckled sadly to himself. “If not, then I guess I’ll see you in hell, Jason.”
He turned and left the tomb.
