OLA SOLIDARIA/ Más de 30 lazos de amor 

Más de 30 lazos de amor, es un proyecto que toma a la figura del amor como basamento catártico, formulado a partir de procedimientos de trabajo colectivo donde me propongo mirar y pensar la forma de vincularnos, utilizando y sugiriendo que la técnica que acompañe la propuesta sea el bordado.

El suceso que originó este proyecto data de 2015, cuando motivada por una profunda y dolorosa ruptura amorosa, di comienzo a la reconstrucción metafórica de mi propio desamor, encontrando en el bordado la herramienta que “arreglaba” eso que sentía destrozado. Esta búsqueda dio lugar a otras: los vínculos amorosos con el resto de las personas de mi vida y la forma que tenemos de demostrarlo, hicieron de mi corazón un gran tejido. Así es que se expandió y me animé a invitar a otros a trabajar. La propuesta fue sencilla: elegir una tela estampada, por gusto, por su textura, por su cuerpo, por lo que quisieran y comenzar a pensar el vínculo que cada uno tiene con el amor; el propio, el ajeno. El amor en todos sus sentidos, sin límites. La idea fue bordar, cortar, romper, descoser, agujerear, hacer lo que cada uno sintiera.

La propuesta es un ritual donde finalmente me reconstruyo en los trabajos de los demás salvándome, por ahora.

¿Dónde van los fondos recaudados?

Hace unos años conocí a Caro Soriano, mujer, fotógrafa, mamá, luchadora; la conocí haciendo fotos en el taller de Gabi Muzzio. Caro a parte de tantas cosas lindas y de que se le hacen agujeritos en los cachetes cuando se ríe, es la Presidenta de la *Fundación FAME Argentina (Familias con Atrofia Muscular Espinal). La misma se encarga de agrupar familias y pacientes afectados con Atrofia Muscular Espinal, que es una enfermedad genética neuronal, caracterizada por la pérdida de músculo esquelético causada por la progresiva degeneración de las células del asta anterior de la médula espinal.

Ella me mostró lo que significa lidiar con una discapacidad desde lo corporal así como también desde lo social. Me mostró la cantidad de cuerpo que hay que poner en una lucha pero sobe todas las cosas me enseñó que sin el amor, que es lo que la sostiene, no podría continuar. Caro es mi más enorme lazo de amor.

Por eso el fin de este proceso de producción, amorosa y catártica es recaudar fondos para que FAME siga luchando y todas estas personas consigan pronto la aplicación de la Spinraza que es la droga que cambiará sus vidas!

Nina looked at herself in the mirror for the seventh time. The dress really didn’t do anything for her ass, like she hoped, but she still looked good in it.

“Ave Maria!” Daniela laughed. “People would think you were the one getting married.”

“But we all know she’s next.” Carla teased. “See, Vanessa, you gotta throw the bouquet at Nina.”

“Whether I catch the bouquet or not, I am next in line to get married. Benny promised.” Nina replied, turning to face the other women. She gasped at the sight of Vanessa in her wedding dress. “Damn, girl. You look hot!”

“You think so? I thought I gained some weight since the original fitting.” Vanessa explained.

“No! You look great! Navi is gonna shit himself.” Nina laughed. “I just wish abuela was here to see you. She loved weddings.”

“She’s smiling down on you.” Camila explained, getting the veil ready. “Ay, Vanessa. Your mom would be so proud.” Taking a deep breath, Camila approached the bride and put on the veil. “I’m glad you gave me this honor. I can’t wait til that one gets married.”

“Soon, mami. I promise.” Nina held two bouquets.

“Que ahora?” Daniela asked.

“We got two minutes.” Carla replied. “Where the hell is Sonny?”

“Here!” Sonny ran into the room. “Wow.” He was stunned by Nina.

“Thanks, but you’re not here for me.” Nina giggled, turning him towards Vanessa.

“Oh shit.” His eyes widened.

“Thank you.” Vanessa smiled. Nina handed her the larger of the two bouquets.

“You’re gonna blow them all away. Navi is gonna lose his shit.” Sonny told her.

“Thanks for giving me away.”

“Of course. I’m still in shock that you asked me.”

“It was between you or Kevin.” Vanessa admitted.

“Okay. We’ll see you ladies out there.” Daniela grabbed Carla’s arm and pulled her out of the room. Camila sighed, taking another look at Vanessa. She kissed the bride’s forehead and said a quick blessing in Spanish before leaving them.

“You ready?” Nina asked her best friend.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Vanessa tried ignoring the butterflies in her stomach. She looked at Sonny. “You have to make sure I don’t fall, because if I do, then I’m taking you down with me.” She teased him. He looked at her nervously. “I’m kidding. Relax. All you have to do is walk me down the aisle and hand me off to Navi and hold the rings. You do have the rings, right?” She asked. He patted the breast pocket of his jacket and nodded. “Good. Let’s go.” They both took a deep breath and left the room, entering the chapel.

The music started and everyone stood up, but Vanessa didn’t pay any attention to them. Her eyes were on Usnavi. For once he wasn’t wearing his cap. He wore a dark tux. The way he looked at her only made the butterflies worse. She always dreamt of finding someone who looked at her like that. Nina walked ahead of Vanessa and Sonny. Benny blew a kiss to her, making her smile. Finally getting to the altar, Sonny handed Vanessa off to his cousin.

“Take care of her, or I’ll kill ya.” Sonny playfully threatened Usnavi, getting a chuckle from the guests. Vanessa kissed his cheek.

“Thank you.” She whispered. He nodded and took his place next to Usnavi. Nina zoned out, watching Benny as he watched their best friends finally tie the knot. He sat with Lincoln and Cuca. It felt like only yesterday they were all kids running around the neighborhood causing trouble. Benny’s eyes met Nina’s. He smiled, absolutely loving how her dress hugged her curves, but he also couldn’t wait to take it off her later.

“We’re next.” He whispered, making her giggle.

“The rings?” Sonny’s attention, previously on Pete,  went to Usnavi. He dug into his breast pocket for the two golden rings. Pulling them out and handing them to the groom. Usnavi quickly checked the rings, making sure to give Vanessa the right one. They shared their vows, but Sonny put his attention back on Pete. They were moving to Miami in a few weeks and he had big plans for the two of them.

“By the power vested in me by New York City, I know pronounce you husband and wife.” Ronnie, one of the cab drivers who happened to be ordained, announced. Usnavi kissed his new wife, pulling her closer to him. The guests applauded for the newlyweds. Usnavi and Vanessa ran out of the chapel to the car waiting outside to drive them to the reception. As people started filing out to follow, Benny made his way to Nina.

“Hey.” She smiled.

“Hi.” He kissed her. “You look hot.”

“Thank you. You’re not too bad, yourself.” She laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him.

“Get a room!” Lincoln teased. “Come on, we got a reception to get to!”

Whoops, didn't mean to paint Camila Noceda as a bad guy but yes she Really didn't have a choice here. I like more nuanced takes but Octarain society is most likely run completely by DJ Octavio which means it's probably a military state or based on a daimyo. When a military officer, that being Luz's training officer, "suggests" something as a punishment, it's Not a Suggestion. And of course, it's not like the Hpyno-shade program would be framed or pitched to Camila as a Bad Thing either. They'll help her focus and remind her what's really important. She'll be trained around other "troubled" individuals, etc., etc. The other option was They take Luz anyway.

Besides, it's not like Camila doesn't love Luz. She does! Genuinely truly loves her daughter. But she is a single widowed mother trying to provide for a kid who does HAVE Problems and Camila makes mistakes like everyone else.

I think there was a misconception in the fandom as a whole that I might make a separate post about later but the gist of it is, I think people see Camila as either this horrible inattentive mother who didn't understand her daughter...or as a paragon of motherly kindness who does her best...which, honestly? The truth is probably she's somewhere on the upper middle end of a good mother there, the two probably have a disconnect and don't communicate. It's because we saw so little interaction between Luz and her mother throughout the series. I'm excited to see what happens in season 3.

Now, there are two separate ways I can answer the folk song part of the ask. Disregarding the fact that all the "mainstream" Octoling music artists are DJs, the first way I could answer is probably the most lore-friendly to splatoon. Looking at how Octavio is presented to us throughout the game, what with his kabuto helmet and what I believe is a kimono in the sunken scroll and one of the octarian bosses being The "Octo Samurai", it's safe to assume that the octarians are coded as Japanese inspired which...has interesting...err...connotations. That we are definitely not talking about now.

Which means that octarian Folk songs are probably Japanese Folk Songs. Which, I'll admit I am not...terribly familiar with. Because that's a HUGE selection of songs and history that I'm just not familiar with.

However, this is an AU and I am more familiar (slightly) with Spanish folk songs. There is a fairly good record of Mexican folk songs by Alfonso Cruz Jimenez which has the kinda soft sound I can see singing in the quiet. But if you want specifics specifics, I can absolutely see Camilia singing Tú Eres Mi Sol as a lullaby for Luz.

Now! If we really want to pull from their Dominican roots and have more fun with it because come on, of course, we do. There is the Merengue genre which is this really fast dancing style that I would describe as high energy, it feels like it's constantly in Cut Time for any music nerds out there. Luz would like something fast and fun and be goofy too while the two danced and sang along. An example would be La Dueña Del Swing by Los Hermanos Rosario or basically anything by Joseito Mateo but I personally like Éxitos En Vivo.

Fairly certain that the last paragraph could be applied to headcanons for canon Owl House. Course they would also probably have fun singing just about anything as long as it was together. Camila seems to be, to me at least, the type of person who would sing while cooking? Luz as well now that I think of it.

Anyway, that one escaped from me haha. I think I am physically incapable of short posts! I would love to hear what people think they should listen to. Both in canon and in the Squid House AU. Haha, Luz probably has some really interesting music tastes in canon. Good Ask by the way!

El sentimiento que trasmite el personaje de Javier interpretado por Alfonso Tort recuerda al hombre del poema “Pájaro Azul” de Charles Bukowski. Ese hombre que tiene un ave encerrada en su pecho y no la deja salir, que tiene una angustia que esconde a los otros y tiene que aprender a cuidar tanto de los demás como de él mismo. En palabras del director “Hay dos núcleos motivacionales centrales sobre los que se construye este relato. El primero gira en torno a la búsqueda que durante ocho años atravesamos con mi pareja hasta poder convertirnos en padres.
