a/n: this req has been sitting in my drafts for a while and i forgot to post it D: trying to finish up requests as i write my next fic
word count: 448
Tumblr media
“Everything okay, amor?”
Camilo walked into his room and looked over to his desk, where you had been perching over a homework assignment for the past hour and a half. You stared at the jumbled equation that seemed like gibberish at this point.
“Camilo, how the hell do I solve this?”
He came up next to you, set down a hot cup of tea on the desk, and peered over at your sheet of paper. He stared at the problem, becoming more visually perplexed each time he read it over.
“How about we take a break? You’ve been at that for so long…” He stood behind his desk chair, which you had been sitting on for what felt like forever. Your legs were already numbed from the lack of movement and a piercing pain in your lower back made it difficult to unwind.
Camilo put his hands on your shoulders and kissed the top of your head as you erased what you had been working on.
“You’re doing great mi vida, I’m very proud of you. I’m sorry I can’t be of too much help,” he whispered, pushing the teacup in front of your strained figure.
“Tia Julieta made this for you.”
He watched as you pressed the cup to your lips; the familiar cacao taste filled your senses, along with the warmth that blanketed your body. Your body began to unbend from the pain and the numbness in your legs washed away.
“Thank you amor,” you smiled at him. Camilo grinned and helped you out of your seat, massaging your hands between his own. His tenderness was enough to make you forget about any of your previous worries. Camilo analyzed the calluses and marks healing on your hands, pouting as he realized how hard you were being on yourself.
“Don’t overwork yourself so much, cosa linda…”
He brought the two of you to his bed and let you sink into his comforting physicality. He kissed your head and relaxed to the synchrony of your heartbeats.
“Camilo, I love you but i need to get this done tonight,” you protested, coming up from him (truthfully, with no intention of leaving). He wasted no time in pulling you back down, holding you firmly to ensure you wouldn’t be trying to get up again.
“Milo!” you groaned, giving up to put up any fight. “I need to finish that…” Of course, you’d rather be with him more than anything, especially more than doing homework.
“But I wanna cuddle, you can finish your dumb math later…” Camilo whined, tightening his grip. He refused to let you leave and you didn’t protest further.
“I’ll help you study later, just stay here with me for a little bit…”

So I saw this Encanto headcannon on Tiktok that just made so much sense to me so now I will share with all of you.
MIGHT I JUST PUT EMPHASIS ON THE FACT THAT THIS IS NOT MY IDEA! I SAW THIS ON TIKTOK! until the part where I add onto the idea, which I clarify towards the bottom:
BASICALLY, everyone has been so pressed about Mirabel not getting a room or a gift at the end, me included, but basically, Casita always knew she cared about the family the most, so she will get a delayed gift, AKA candle bearer. Like Abuela.
So, as Abuela is getting weaker, the candle and the magic gets weaker. Once Mirabel brought everyone back together, the candle burned brighter than ever.
This is my personal spin though:
So when Abuela eventually dies, Mirabel will take her place as head of family and will watch over the candle, and will eventually be given Abuela’s room by La Casa. The picture on the door will change too, into Mirabel. I anticipate it would have butterflies or something like that considering how Bruno’s vision showed the butterfly that would signify where Abuela and Mirabel would make up.
But yeah, that just makes so much sense to me, and justifies why Mirabel got nothing for her efforts for the family

Hey! I saw your fanfiction and thought you were ideal for doing this request! Your writing is good! Could you do an overprotectice! madrigal x Reader where they hear from Bruno (very panicked) that the reader could be in danger at any point of the week? Bruno couldn't see the one who was going to hurt them, so the family got kind of anxious since the reader is like an adopted sister/daughter to them. They don't have the courage to tell the reader about this news.

In which the Madrigal Family is in a state of chaos when Tio Bruno sees a vision of you getting (supposedly) hurt. Platonic! Madrigal Family x Reader
masterlist !!
Tumblr media
Ever since you could remember, the family was always protective of you and rightfully so, you were a bit.. clumsy. Well, clumsy was a very strong understatement. If you and Augustin had a tally on the most accidents that had happened to both of you, you’d win by a landslide. So it would come as to no surprise that you were always in some sort of predicament and the family was used to it. They always had Julieta on call just in case a simple stumble or a trip would have resulted in something far more painful. Each family member had some method of preventing you from getting hurt.
The fact that you wouldn’t have a miracle concerned the family but even more so when you had grown up to be.. a klutz. Extra precautions had to be taken by the family.
Abuela Alma would ask you always to stay by her side whenever you go out, fearing that if you strayed away from her or any of the family that you would get hurt. That meant that you weren’t exactly alone most of the time, accompanied by either Mirabel or Camilo. Though after the surprising appearance of your Tio Bruno and destruction of Casita, everything came to a standstill. Your uncle was back with the family and you couldn’t help but be in awe of him.
“Ay, sobrina, you would..” Your Tio’s eyes flickered to the green tablet that featured you crying. The vision was blurry, nothing was quite clear but the slab had depicted you crying and that wasn’t a very good vision to have. Instead of informing you of your predicament, he awkwardly forced a smile. “You would get a new perrito this week! A new dog, isn’t that exciting!?”
His vision didn’t tell him exactly who or what made you cry but as soon as you left his room, off he would dash to his mamá and tell her of the vision. Which quickly prompted an emergency meeting with the rest of the grown ups in the family. Although Dolores, being herself, had managed to spill the beans to her siblings and cousins who had taken action by themselves.
Needless to say, the whole family was in a panic. Sharp corners were immediately filed down, Casita was to be extra careful in handling you or helping you in anything from reaching for something or even walking. The Casita would gently move you to whichever way you want to go.
Abuela would ask you to be careful, accompanying you in the Casa and checking up on you, asking how your day had gone and other trivial things. She would ask you to accompany her most of the times inside the home, fearing that should you be unsupervised, you would get yourself in trouble.
Your mamá Julieta always had arepas cooking on the stove, emergency batches of your favorite empanadas was in her aprons and pockets just in case.
Your papá Agustin was not to be near any bee’s nest when you two would go out to do errands or do father-daughter things in town. Though just in case, Mirabel would always accompany you two in order to rush you two out of harm. Yeah. You and Agustin? Cheerfully clumsy and accident prone? Not a very good combo.
Isabela would fill the Casa with flowers and bushes with no brambles or sharp branches. She, along with Casita, would transport you up and down the home with her vines instead of you just walking.
Luisa insisted on placing stacks upon stacks of pillows and matresses in the corners of the house, often times carrying you in her strong arms whenever you go to the village instead of letting you go all by yourself. She was taking time off being the bearer of all things heavy ever since Casita fell but she assured you that no matter what happens, she was there for you.
Mirabel had always been looking out for you, taking the title as your big sister, although you insist you were born on the same day and maybe were only a few minutes apart, very seriously. Her mochilas were always packed with bandages and she would not let go of your hand no matter where you two went.
Your Tia Pepa was even more careful with her emotions, not necessarily forcing them down but finding more ways to cope and comfort herself, either with a good book or a nice big cup of coffee. Each and everytime even a single rainy or dark cloud would appear on the top of her head, Tio Felix would immediately find more ways to help her out.
Dolores would quickly take care of the dog ‘vision’ and with the help of Mariano, gift you an Andalusian Hound puppy which you would fondly name Guapo. She would inform the family of your whereabouts as well with a little help from Camilo.
Said shapeshifter would either accompany you and stay by your side or even disguise himself as numerous citizens in order to keep track of you. He would also be heard saying the locations of just where you are or where you were heading so Dolores can keep track of it all.
“Alright, Yellow Chameleon to Red Elefante, the torpe has left the churro stand.”
Antonio had his animal friends soaring the skies or roaming the streets, giving him updates on how his prima was doing or where she was going.
All the while you were obliviously unaware of what was happening. You were only under the impression that they were being extra nice this week so you appreciated it! By the end of the week, you were so overwhelmed by the kindness that at the dinner table, you had suddenly burst out sobbing, thankful for the family’s love and kindness and.. hold on.
This was familiar. Quickly pulling out the emerald green slab from under his ruena, Bruno’s eyes had widened to see that your crying figure was the same one depicted on the vision slab.
“Oh. Whoops.” Was all he could say.

Thank you for reading my works, every like and reblog means the world to me.
I hope I did justice to your request? I hope you didn’t mind the extra twist at the end oops, with how protective the Madrigal family is, I don’t think you’re gonna end up hurt anytime soon.
As always, please excuse me if I worded things wrong/ used wrong terms. English isn’t my first language but I’m trying to improve myself!

His hand was right there, you could easily grab it and appease the cold trembling on your own, but his whole family was right there, they would see if you did, what if he got embarrassed and let it go?
You two had been dating for a few weeks already and it had quickly became a routine for you to have breakfast with the Madrigals and then shadow Camilo most of the day, but as comfortable as you had grown around each other, you still couldn't work up the courage to express your affection to him the way you so badly wanted to.
Maybe it was fear of appearing clingy, or maybe it was simply something you weren't used to. Hugs, kisses or anything of the sort weren't common around your house, they were limited to congratulations given on birthdays or other celebrations on the most awkward way.
For Camilo those actions came so easily, he could cradle your face and graze your fingers without getting dizzy in over thoughts. He was so natural with it and yet you so desperately wanted more.
"Amor," Camilo called, pulling you out of your thoughts by putting his hand on your shoulder. Everyone was standing up from the table, "we have to go."
You nodded, leaving your napkin back on the table and trying not to think of the warmth that irradiated from his hand. He walked to the village with you trailing behind, your eyes once again set on his hand that moved back and forward.
It wasn't always like that, you weren't constantly craving for his touch like you were that day, most of the time you were perfectly content just having him close, but sometimes you woke up with an insatiable thirst for those moments when he layed sprawled on the grass and pulled you on top of him to cuddle. Those moments you weren't brave enough to ask for.
Submerged in a comfortable silence, you two made your way to the Gonzalez' house, a young couple who had recently had a baby and were completely exhausted, as it often happens with first time parents. Luckily for them, Camilo and you were the two most reliable babysitters in Encanto and you had no issue with having the baby for a couple hours so they could have some rest.
With a blanket, you secured the baby to Camilo's chest, making sure she was comfortable and protected from the sun, and tried not to blush at the way he gazed upon you as you did.
He liked looking at you, he wasn't too shy to admit it, he liked the frown on your face when you were focused and your expression when you were lost in thought. He knew the exact number of freckles on your face and the particular curl of your eyelashes, he knew where to find the tiny scar on your eyebrow from when you were little and had memorized the shape of your Cupid's bow. God, you were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
Slowly, almost timidly, he brought a hand up to your face and moved a strand of hair out of your forehead. That's exactly what you meant, his caresses were so effortless and yet they made all the air escape from your lungs. Camilo never said it out loud, fearing that it would make you stop, but he adored the way you leaned into his touch.
Contraire to your nervous assumptions, he loved touching you, everything from grazing your hand when he walked beside you to cuddling with you at night before you went home, he lived for every hug, every kiss, every waking moment when he could hold your hand.
What troubled his mind was the thought that you didn't like to be touched, or maybe not as much as he wanted to do it. You never seemed to respond badly to his caresses, but you never initiated those moments and honestly he preferred to control his urges than to accidentally trespass your personal space.
Once the baby was settled against Camilo, you both started to go wherever he was needed. Most days went by like that, you two babysitting one or two kids together while you trailed behind him to wherever he needed to go and tried to make yourself useful.
"I think she's hungry," you said when the baby started crying, growing more loud by the second despite of Camilo's coos.
"Maybe she's sick of being around you," he suggested mockingly.
"Oh, she's tied to your chest, but she's sick of being around me," you responded in the same tone.
"You're right," he nodded while still rocking the baby, "she's tired of me, so you should carry her instead."
"You could've just said you were tired, lazy," you mocked while, carefully, removing the baby from the blanket around your boyfriend, shyly grazing his chest in the process.
The baby kept crying as you walked back to casa Madrigal to make her a bottle, while you gently rocked her trying to sooth her in the meantime. Camilo stared at you the whole way, making sure you didn't trip over anything, that the sun didn't sting on your eyes.
Once in the kitchen, you both settled the baby on the dinner table, on top of the blanket and Camilo's ruana. He entertained her while you warmed the milk and the bottle, trying not to get distracted by the way Camilo talked to the baby and she somehow responded in gibberish baby talk.
But your efforts were unsuccessful.
You looked at him tickle the baby's tummy as you blindly reached out to grab the pot, placing your hand right on the hot metal instead of the handle, "ah!" You cried out, making Camilo turn into you in the initial shock and then jumping towards you.
"What happened? Let me see."
You pulled your red hand out of his reach, hiding the painful grimace on your face and the tears welling up in your eyes.
"Amor."
You held your hand close to your chest, it wasn't your intention to push Camilo away but your first instinct was to stop his comforting of your injury.
"Y/N, amor..." he called again, placing a hand on your arm.
"Leave me alone, Camilo!"
He stood silent for a good second, even the baby had stopped wailing for a moment. You had your back turned against him, with anger tears coming down your cheeks quietly and he feared he had broken the rule he had set himself when it came to touching you.
Still, he knew you well enough to know it wasn't him you were mad at for having gotten hurt, but at yourself, so he decided not to surpass your boundaries anymore. Instead, he filled a bowl with cold water for you to submerge your hand into, which you did without complaining.
It was a long while until he worked up the courage to approach you again, after he fed the baby and put her down to sleep in the same place on the table. This time you didn't squirm away from his touch when he grabbed your arm to have you turn around in his direction.
You avoided his eyes, but they were too busy inspecting the burn. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad, the cold water had done wonders to it. He looked into your face, the tear stained cheeks and the obvious pain you had suffered, and decided to taunt his fate once more.
Softly, he brought your hand up to his lips, placing a kiss on the inside of your wrist. Once he felt you leaning into it, the way he loved so much, he traveled his kisses up to your face. He erased the path of your tears with his lips, making your breath hitch.
Camilo wrapped an arm around you, embracing you softly, and you happily melted into him, hiding your face in his chest as you whimpered softly and the tears came back to your eyes. Upon seeing your reaction, he wondered if maybe you liked his touch more than you let on, so he simply held you against him for as long as you allowed him to.
"Can we do this more often?" You were brave enough to ask, referring to the hug and the kisses.
Camilo smiled, for your question was an answer to his prayers.
"Yes, mi vida."

"Do you understand?"
You bit your bottom lip, looking away from the scene as you glanced to your friend, nodding uncertainly as you phased out what she was saying.
Amongst all the bright colors you were surrounded with, all the different forms of magic that you had grown up with, a certain boy always seemed to catch your attention.
"He's an entertainer, Y/n," Lila said, her eyes trailing to where your gaze was trained, realizing that you were lost in thought as she commented.
Your brows furrowed, looking at her as you rubbed a hand over your tried eyes, the bag you were carrying in your hands growing heavier the more you waited to put it down.
"He seems sweet," You tried, giving her an uncertain smile as she rolled her eyes, forcefully moving you away.
"He's no good, chica, especially not for you." And Lila left no room for argument as she steered you away, filling your mind with other things as you two left the town square.
And you spared a glance over your shoulder, wanting to see his the bright smile he'd flash the little children that flocked to his side, begging him to shift into them, only to be met with deep chestnut eyes, a heavy look on his face as he stared back intently at you.
And you quickly turned away, cheeks heating in embarrassment as you kept your gaze settled on the floor, doing your best to listen to Lila's talking despite the blood roaring in your ears.
---
"Ay, hermosa, do you know just how miserable you look right now?"
You kicked Dolores in the shins, your chin resting in your hand as you looked out into the mountains, zooming out her little giggles as she nestled herself next to you.
"'M not miserable, Dolores, I'm thinking," You heard her scoff, your legs dangling off the edge as you balanced on the brick wall, thoughts going wild as all you could think of was him, and the way he looked at you.
"Why do you act like I can't hear you every morning, huh? 'I think he likes orange, or maybe red,' or how about yesterday when you debated for an hour if my brother likes flowers. Y/n, do you realize we live with Isabella?" You groaned the more she spoke, covering your face with your hands to hide away in embracement.
"I'm not good with these things!" You argued, looking away as she chuckled, "Listen, I doubt he knows who I am, if that. Just let me sulk for a few more weeks, okay?"
As you tried to look anywhere but there you noticed the burnt hues of the sun littering the sky above you, a reminder that another day had gone to waste in trying to seek out Camilo.
"Well, I'm not sure if you should sa-" And you both perked up when you heard a familiar voice, your heart racing quickly in your chest as his face appeared from what seemed to be nowhere.
"Oi, Dolores!" Camilo waved his arms despite the fact that he was shouting and she could have picked up on it easily, "Tía Julieta needs you! Abuelita also needed help finding her glasses!"
You watched as she pressed her lips tightly together, sighing as she leaped off with a push of her hands, rubbing your knees affectionately as she started to leave towards the direction of the Madrigal house.
"Have some fate in yourself, okay hermosa?" You couldn't say anything to her kind nature, instead silently watching as she left, exchanging a few words with her brother as he glanced to you, and then quickly back to his sister, patting her shoulder as she left.
You only hoped he would leave, not wanting him to see you in such a state of disarray.
Though it seemed that Camilo had other plans as he walked closer towards you, his signature smile on his face as he neared your feet, looking up as he squinted slightly.
"You're Y/n, right?" Could he sense that your blood froze the moment he spoke his name, the way your hearing seemed to clear as it left his mouth?
"Y-yeah, that's me," His eyebrows quirked as he began climbing u the wall, settling right beside you, right where Dolores was, as he held out his hand for a shake.
"I'm Camilo. Dolores's brother," He pointed to where she had gone, but you already knew that.
You shakily gripped his, wanting to curse yourself for the sweat that dotted your palm, how your skin must have felt clammy in his hands, or the way your arm slightly shook as he gripped your hand.
You dimly nodded, biting the inside of your cheek as you tried to think of something clever to say, something that wouldn't totally wreck his first image of you.
"You're the one that can shapeshift, right?" You winced the moment the words came out of your mouth. Only an idiot wouldn't know what Camilo's gift was.
But instead of scoffing at your vacuity, he grinned, nodding quickly as his head morphed into one of a child, and then quickly back to his own as he watched a small smile grow on your face.
"The one and only," He teased, bumping his shoulder gently with yours, not realizing how the small gesture made you choke on your tongue.
You glanced to the side, your mind reeling as everything seemed to fall short, words failing as you forgot to speak, oblivious to the fact that the boy by your side looked at you warmly, his usual grin shifting into a small smile as you looked away.
"You know," He started, bumping his shoulder with yours once again to catch your attention, "My tía makes really good arepas. And she always makes more than we can eat," He scratched the back of his head, cheeks flushing under your intense gaze, heart beating rapidly in your proximity, "You can come, if you want, of course...?"
And in that split second, you felt everything lift up. Your eyes seemed to be locked in a trance, breathing going the same rate as you two stared at each other, finger itching to touch again as you slowly nodded, the smile that he had admired from war away gracing your face as you nodded more quickly.
"I-I'd love too," Hs chest released a breath of air at that, relief flooding his veins as he pushed himself off the edge, extending his hand out towards you as you slowly took it, gently jumping off in the same fashion as you dusted your clothes to rid of the dust.
"I'd have to warn you though, princesa, my family's a lot to handle. You think you can deal with it?" He warned, teasing you as he lead you towards the colorful house, his hand close to your back as you walked side by side next to him.
"I think I can," You joked back, knowing well that you loved every member of the Madrigal family, perhaps one of them a bit more than the others.
And from that moment on, the way the sun hit your radiating eyes seemed to stick in Camilo's mind. The way you kindly came into his family, into his heart, never leaving his mind.
Camilo liked to think that under any pressure he could shift away into something else, but under the pressure of your hold, the way you held him close to your body made him second guess everything he thought his entire life.

You probably won't even see this but- I'd love to see just a CRUMB of something like Camilo rambling to Bruno about how much he adores his darling because he kind of gets the feeling that Bruno won't go running to y/n spilling the tea, but if y/n tries to just "oh hi Bruno!! :)" hE'LL PANIC BECAUSE he doesn't wanna ruin it for his sobrino
Also I love your writing you're very talented

Bruno happily sighed as he snuggled into his sofa. It had been a long day and he was eager to get some well deserved rest.
"TIO BRUNO!" And-..there goes his free time. Bruno shrieked, twisting his head around to see who interrupted his relaxation. Camilo had just slammed the door open and stood at the entrance of Bruno's room. A goofy grin spread across his face. Bruno raised a brow, confused as to what the teen possibly wanted from him.
"I want you to read my future!" Camilo shouted, shutting the door of the room. Stomping over to his tio, the shapeshifter plopped on the floor. He sat right in front of Bruno's chair-to make sure Bruno wouldn't try to run away. Dumbfounded, the older man started awkwardly shifting in his seat.
"You know...you know how my visions go Camilo-" Bruno chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck. Camilo, threw his head back and groaned dramatically. He clasped his hands together and started pleading.
"Pleaasse? I'll owe you one! I could get you some extra food- or do some of your chores-just one little vision?? Pleaasse? It's been like 10 years!" Bruno squinted his eyes at Camilo. Just one, he says? Biting his lip, he tapped his fingers against his couch before eventually letting out a defeated sigh.
"Alright hijo. Let's go."
°°
"You sure about this hijo?" Bruno muttered, spreading the sand across the ground. Camilo nodded enthusiastically, sending the man a two finger salute. Once Bruno finished his ritual, he squatted down on the ground and stretched.
Reaching his hand out, He clasped Camilo's hands with his own. The man took a deep breath and soon enough- his eyes started to glow a deep green. Camilo ohh'd at the sight as the sand around them started to swirl and create a barrier of some sorts.
Bruno narrowed his eyes as the sand started to materialize into figures. Camilo followed his gaze and saw a figure of himself, confused he turned to his uncle.
"Thats it?" Bruno sent him an exasperated look, shaking his head 'no'.
"Be patient- Oh! Look! There's another figure!" Camilo whipped his head around and saw another figure starting to form beside him. Bruno gasped dramatically and Camilo turned to him.
"What??! What's happening tio?!?"
"It's a person! And-and- they're breaking your neck!"
"They're what?!!" Camilo screamed in alarm, gaping at the sand sculptures.
"Oh wait no! Not breaking your neck! It looks like a dance?" Bruno tilted his head in confusion, trying to make sense of the vision.
"Are they breaking my neck or dancing with me?!?"
"Wait yes! A dance!" Bruno grinned, relieved that the vision wasn't about his sobrino getting his neck snapped in half. The figures started to materialize into Camilo and a person dancing together.
He reached out to grab the green slab, wiping away any remaining sand on it. Camilo quickly rushed to his side and curiously observed the vision.
"Ohh would you look at that, they're quite attractive- wait isn't that your lover Camilo?" Bruno pointed out, making Camilo's eyes widen. He reached out and grabbed the slab from Bruno's hands to examine it closer.
Camilo quickly recognized all of your features, It was you! Suddenly, he felt his breath hitch when he realized you were wearing a wedding outfit. Inspecting the slab further, he realized both of you were in a church.
"I'm going to marry y/n." Camilo breathed out, realizing what the vision was about. He snapped his head back to his uncle, a wide lovesick smile on his face. Bruno just shrugged and uttered a 'meh'.
"I mean I don't need to look into the future to see you two would've worked out but-"
"I'M GOING TO MARRY Y/N!" Camilo shrieked making Bruno jump. Camilo giddily stared at the slab again, turning to his tio- he asked if he could keep it. Bruno just nodded, feeling pretty good about himself after seeing how happy Camilo was about the vision.
"You must really like them huh?" Bruno whispered, glancing at the slab then at Camilo then at the slab again.
"You couldn't imagine. They have a smile that rivals mami's sunny days. I could make a poem with just their name alone and it would still sound breathtaking." Camilo softly gazed down at the slab once more before running to hug Bruno
"Oh! Before I go- mind keeping this a secret tio Bruno? I want them to be surprised in the near future." Camilo grinned and thanked his uncle as he skipped away. Bruno hummed, happy for his sobrino's future.
After that was done, he went downstairs and decided to grab a broom to sweep the leftover sand up. He passed by the kitchen on the way, just in time for you to walk in through the back door.
"Señor Bruno?" Jumping, Bruno felt himself tense up as you called out to him. You smiled softly at him, unaware that Bruno was having an internal battle with himself.
"I was just wondering where Camilo was?" Bruno panicked and stared to stutter, avoiding your confused eyes.
'Dont let it slip Bruno, you can't ruin this for Camilo-' Bruno closed his eyes and let out a nervous breath. He smiled at you awkwardly, quickly putting the broom away.
"He ran away! I mean- mierda- he went to go his room." Bruno quickly corrected himself, hoping that you'd ignore his mess up and be convinced. He felt himself relax as you brightened up and thanked him, quickly leaving the room.
"Nice save, tio." In another room, Dolores snickered.

Holding You Close
What hugging/cuddling Camilo would feel like as his partner (General Headcanons)
Do not read this work if you are of age and above (18+)
C.W: None to note! Only fluff!!
Camilo x gn! Reader
Tumblr media
Physical touch is one of his (if not his most) favourite expressions of affection
He’s a natural heater, always warm and radiating even when he’s asleep
But he always clings to you, even on hotter days in the summer
It’s why if you ever sleep over, you’d both wake up absolutely drenched in sweat and uncomfortable because Camilo will just cling to your side and wrap around you the whole night
His arms like to snake around your waist when you hug, and often if he can’t give you the usual squeeze he’d have at least one arm around your waist or shoulders
His hair is soft, please remember this
He will melt if you press kisses into his hair, mumbling nicknames in Spanish as he holds you ever closer
He’s an energetic person in general, but his quiet moments are with you, voice gentle as he whispers words of adoration
And don’t get me started on what would happen if you returned those sentiments
He’d be so smitten with you he’d finish his chores early just so he could have his time cuddling you in his room
And sometimes he’d just spend the whole day with you if he gets the chance
He loves kisses too, especially when you pepper him with them
He melts when you do that, his cheeks warming as he basically basks in joy
This boy will be so dazed after at dinner, just completely out of it as he eats with this huge grin on his face
Sometimes he’d sneak into your room (would ask first ofc, he’s not rude, probably would just throw a rock through your window or something) just to cuddle you at night because he can’t sleep, so giddy with excitement knowing he gets to hold you
He wakes up early so neither of you get caught, but when he does he likes to kiss your hair and you gently while holding you
Because he really really does love you and he’s so happy you love him back
And sometimes he’d “trap” you into a hug with him by fitting his ruana over you too
Giggling and laughing and is just so happy to have you
You make him feel grounded, like he’s settling in his own skin more
And handholding is never enough for him so sometimes even if you’re walking, he’ll just wrap both arms around you and hold you
He’d smell of the sun and warm food, maybe even hints of salt (kinda like the beach but Encanto doesn’t have one if I’m not mistaken)
His kisses taste like bread and dinner, gentle as ever
But most of the time he kisses you too quickly for you to notice because he’s so busy :(
When he’s not, though, he’s constantly kissing you or holding you
And when he does it’s incredibly gentle and sweet because he wants to cherish each moment
And he’s so cliche, but he’s too cute for you to ever be upset about that
Tumblr media
A/N: Wanted to write something quick because I love him and I need to express this <333 Gonna go nap (and dream of Camilo) now I’m exhausted

SUNDAY MORNING
-
Forehead touching. Forehead kisses.
camilo madrigal x gn reader | feminine aspects written, but honestly it’s not that much.
not-beta read, we die like casita.
-
You smiled softly, looking up from your book to see your lover. It was a quiet morning, a rare occurrence for the Madrigals as it seemed like those people could never catch a break. Their schedules usually filled to the brim with chores, not a single second for themselves, but not today.
Naturally, your boyfriend decided to spend his day with you.
“Milo?” You called out, folding the corner of the page you were reading on.
Camilo looks at you before looking back up for a moment, eyes on the rubber ball that he kept throwing at the ceiling of your room seconds before.
“Un segundo.”
With one hand, he swiftly catches it, and you feel your heart begin to swell as you see a small smile forming on his face at the impressive move.
“Need anything mi vida?” He asks, turning to face you, his gaze never leaving as he drops the small toy to his side.
He tilted his head slightly as he patiently watched you place your book on the nightstand near you.
“Mhm, affection.” You reply cheekily, crawling over to him.
Camilo chuckled, his eyes full of love as he stared at you.
“About time!” He teased, wrapping his arms around your waist as you made yourself comfortable on his lap.
You scoff.
“Dios mio, it hasn’t been that long.” You retorted, though, your actions quickly contradict your voice as you gently cupped his face. Camilo shook his head in endearment, his curly hair flowing around at the action.
“Mhm.. whatever you say.” The shapeshifter murmured, his voice slurred at the touch of your warm hands. You rolled your eyes at your lover’s antics while your boyfriend simply smiled in return.
“I,” You began, placing a soft kiss on Camilo’s lips.
“Love-“ Another kiss.
“You.” And another! Well..
Maybe more than just three, but come on now! He had such a kissable face!
How could you resist the temptation to kiss every single one of those pretty freckles that resembled the bright stars scattered across the night sky, or even that empty canvas that is his forehead which was just waiting to be painted with your lipstick, and don’t forget his cheeks too!
Besides, who was complaining? Certainly not you, nor him.
As you continue to pepper your boyfriend with your kisses, he giggled with each one, tightening his hold on you.
You ended with one last kiss to the lips, pulling away to see a lope-sided smile on Camilo’s face, his muddy green eyes shining brightly as he stared into yours.
God he was absolutely drunk on your love, and you savored every second of it.
You laughed, throwing your head back as Camilo smiled even wider at the sound of your laughter.
“You’re an absolute idiot mi amor.” You said, using two of your fingers to gently push him, his back hitting against the headboard of your bed.
“Yeah, yeah.” Camilo replied nonchalantly, grabbing your hand and pulling you close, your foreheads touching due to the lack of space.
“I love you too querida, y te amaré por siempre.”
-
“Woah! Have you’ve been malled by a tiger Camilo?!” Félix shouted, laughing loudly when he saw his son walk through the entrance door with lipstick all over his face.
Camilo groaned, hiding under his yellow poncho.
“Stoppppp!” He shouted, dragging out each syllable while he scurried away to his room. If he wasn’t in such a hurry, he would’ve seen the worrying rain cloud turn into a beautiful rainbow on top of his mother’s head when her husband explained what he had seen to her in full detail.
He flopped onto his bed, rolling around in hopes of getting the embarrassment off his body.
Of course he forgot to wipe off your lipstick, so enthralled by you and your stupid beauty that he forgot to think for himself! His pride!
He’ll never hear the end of it from his familia at din-
Oh dear god, he forgot about dinner.

Camilo Madrigal thinks that he could kiss you, right here, right now, and he doesn’t care about all the people who could potentially see him.
Of course, most people wouldn’t be thinking about their best friend in that way, much less thinking about their lips, but Camilo knows for a fact that he’s in love. He hasn’t told anyone - especially not you - and though he’s asked Dolores for love advice, he’s not implied anything. Hey, he said he was asking for a friend, which is totally believable and completely unquestionable, who’d ever doubt him?
He props his chin on his hand, staring at you through half-closed eyes. The evening is setting, and the sun is disappearing behind the mountains, leaving a trail of warm sienna and light pink in its wake. The city square’s tiles are rather hard underneath him, but Camilo doesn’t mind the slight ache.
He listens to you ramble about something, occasionally letting out an absent-minded hum or a small nod. He’s listening to you, he swears he is, but how is he supposed to give the words tumbling out of your mouth his undivided attention when all he can focus on is the way the sun’s setting rays reflect on your eyes, making them appear brighter than they always are?
“Camilo?” You wave your hand in front of his face. “You good?”
“Huh?”
Camilo wants to kick himself. He’s not usually so tongue-tied. You just have that effect on him, he supposes. He finds that he’s not complaining.
“You have Mirabel’s face right now.”
The boy shakes his head and reverts back to his usual appearance. He’s also not about to complain about the fact that you’re the only one with whom he finds that he loses control over his shape-shifting. Not when you’re laughing. Even if it’s at him.
“Sight for sore eyes, huh?” he says instead, grinning widely in an attempt to calm his racing heart.
“Nah, I prefer you like this anyway,” you say simply, lifting your head up to the slowly darkening sky. You pull your knees to your chest, hugging them. The basket half-full of flowers lies discarded by your feet, in between the two of you.
For reasons unknown (okay, not really unknown), Camilo pushes the basket next to him and scooches closer to you, your knees almost bumping against each other’s. He eyes the basket, his eyes softening when he sees the carefully plucked blossoms.
“Hey,” he says, “why don’t you just ask Isa to make flowers for you and sell them? It’ll make things way easier for you.”
You shrug. “It’s not the same.”
Camilo tilts his head. “How so?”
“It’s just…” You turn to look at him (Camilo ignores the way his heart starts thumping loudly in his chest). “It means something different if I’m selling something that I’ve worked hard for, you know? I’m sure Isabela wouldn’t mind making flowers for me, but I couldn’t ask her to. It’s my hard work that I wanna get paid for, not someone else’s.”
Camilo Madrigal is sure that if he wasn’t already head over heels for you, he’d have fallen for you right now. He also wants to kiss you, but that’s not new information.
“That’s…” he trails off, for once unable to come up with a snarky reply, “really admirable.”
You smile at him. “Not all of us were gifted with the most useful powers, you know.” Your voice is only teasing, containing no hint of malice or spite.
Camilo winks. “Of course. Nobody was gifted with good looks like me, either.”
You snort. “And yet you shape-shift into every known person in this village.”
“Well, someone’s gotta make use of their talents.”
You roll your eyes, and silence descends upon you two once more. It’s calming, comforting - Camilo thinks he prefers this silence with you than all the chaos that goes on at his home (even if he’s one of the chaos’ main perpetrators). He loves his family, but he wouldn’t mind spending the rest of his life with you.
It’s a shocking realization.
“You know, Camilo,” you begin slowly, fiddling with the ends of your sleeves, “you’re being really weird with me nowadays.”
The boy shifts in his seat. “What do you mean?”
“I don’t know,” you answer him honestly. “I just feel like you’re not telling me something.”
Of course you could make out. You always do. Knowing someone since childhood would do that, he thinks. Camilo swallows.
“You don’t- you don’t have to tell me anything,” you quickly say, clasping your hands and placing them on your lap. “I mean, I’m not pushing you or anything, but, you know, I’m here if you need someone t-”
Camilo has never considered himself to be a romantic.
Yet, he reaches out for your hands and takes them in his own, squeezing them once, gently. You look at him, eyes wide and lips parted slightly.
“Y/N,” he says, his voice soft. He wonders if you can hear how loudly his heart is beating, or if you can tell that there’s blood rushing in his ears. “I really like you.”
“Yeah, I know that, stupid. That’s why we’re still friends.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Oh?”
“I…” he clears his throat. “I like you in a way best friends don’t.”
You’re grinning at him knowingly, a twinkle in your eyes, and that’s the only thing Camilo can comprehend, because his heart is pounding and his cheeks are burning and he’s holding your hands and-
“I like you in a way best friends don’t, too.”

Camilo Madrigal | Noticed
Tumblr media
Part two : Part three
Request : No
Prompt : None
𝙒𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 : None, cuteness, I would warn that Camilo might be slightly out of character but my boy has six minutes of screen time, not much to go off really
Probably gonna be a part 2
Paring : Camilo Madrigal x GN!reader
𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 : You noticed Camilo, properly
1046 words
I do not know any Spanish so I did use a lot of google translate, so if there's any mistake I apologize, just let me know ill fix it asap
Camilo Madrigal was a very hard person to miss, whether it be the antics he caused when he'd shapeshift or the way he was when looking after the kids in town, how he would be all confident and borderline cocky until he'd drop or fumble over something, and that's when you fully noticed him.
You were stopping by to give your little sister some food as she played with her friends, with, of course, Camilo watching over them. And it was when he tried to juggle the bread pieces that you caught him slip up and miss them all. He dropped the confident smile and it replaced with nervousness as he looked around to see if anyone noticed, and his eyes caught yours as you were giggling to yourself.
Quickly Camilo rushed over to you a very embarrassed look caught on his face. "You didn't see that? Right?" Camilo asked a small smile stuck on his face.
"Oh no, I totally didn't see you drop the bread. Absolutely not," You teased, a smile matching your tone. Camilo sighed a light pink blush dying the end of his nose. "I'm Y/N, by the way."
Camilo smiled properly and stood up straighter, his confidence restored, "I'm Camilo Madrigal."
"I know," You knew, of course, you knew. Who didn't know the Madrigals? But it was too cute how he introduced himself. "Well, Camilo Madrigal, I'll see you around," You smiled turning on your heel to turn in the direction of your small house. Camilo stood there completely enamored, the sun dancing on your skin, making you shine.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The second time you noticed Camilo he was trailing behind his sister, talking about chores, or something about what his Abuela was making him do. It was obvious he was trying to convince Dolores to do his work, Dolores would decline but Camilo was stubborn. When he passed the small bread shop you were helping, he shifted in Dolores making you laugh lightly. Camilo's head snapped over to you, remembering that laugh, even through the embarrassing moment, he had a day ago. Camilo smiled and waved at you while shifting back to himself, you waved back and quickly motioned him over. Camilo didn't hesitate and immediately rushed to the stall, nearly slipping as he stumbled over a rock making his face heat up in embarrassment, again.
"You're quite clumsy, aren't you?" You said in a laugh once Camilo was close enough. Camilo brushed a hand along his face trying to wipe away the embarrassment. "Here, one for you one for Dolores." You passed Camilo two Churros, watching Camilo's eyes widen in appreciation.
"Ah, gracias," Camilo smiled motioning for the girl to come over, but she stood still with a slight smile, watching her little brother fall head over heels. "I'll bring you something next time," Camilo promised his curls bouncing with as he barely could contain his excitement of free food, from someone so pretty no less.
"No need, they had too much chocolate on them anyway," You explained, they didn't have too much chocolate, but making Camilo smile with that much excitement, was too hard to resist. "Just don't try and juggle them." Camilo laughed shaking his head lightly.
"See you around, Y/N," Camilo said with a grin before he ran back to Dolores, forgetting about bribing Dolores to do his chores, a dazed smile on his face.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The third time you didn't notice him until Camilo noticed you. Camilo had finished his chores and ran off to the market, (in search of you but he wouldn't admit that). He had found you by the edge of the river, tubes of paint at your side as you dragged a brush across the canvas. He could see the light splashed of paint on your arms, some even blotted on your cheek, some part of him wanting to make a comment about how you were already a work of art but thinking it would be too cheesy. Camilo quickly bought a few sweet treats before walking over to you, "Hola Y/N."
You jumped slightly but smiled seeing Camilo standing beside you, the sun illuminating him making him glow, his curls shinning. "Hola Camilo," You said sweetly pushing your paints away making room for Camilo to sit. Camilo smiled wider sitting cross-legged next to you, close enough that the edges of his ruana brushing your shoulder. "Don't think I've seen you around this early."
"I uh, finished my chores early- here," Camilo held out the sweet treat, which you gladly took, your fingertips brushing against his knuckles.
"Gracias Camilo, but I thought I told you not to bring me something," You said slightly guilty but Camilo waved it off.
"It's fine, I didn't want to be the only one eating," Camilo joked, taking a bite of his food.
"Oh, so you planned this?" You teased dropping your paintbrush in the grass, watching a blush crawl up Camilo's neck, his eyes widening slightly. Camilo stuttered on his words, trying to make a coherent excuse, instead, he shifted between the baker, his sister, you and then finally back to himself. You took a bite of your sweet giggling slightly to yourself.
"I uh, didn't plan this, I was um- I saw you and I just wanted to say hi," Camilo mumbled trying to shove more of the sweet in his mouth, trying to save himself from embarrassment.
You laughed again going to speak but your father called to you, asking for your help, Camilo's shoulder dropped slightly, not wanting you to leave so soon. You sighed shoving your paints into the basket you bought. You grabbed the canvas and handed it to Camilo, "You can keep it if you like."
Camilo smiled, nodding enthusiastically gently taking the painting from your hands. Camilo smiled chewing his bottom lip to prevent himself from grinning like a madman, "Yeah, thank you Y/N, I'll take good care of it."
You smiled standing up to leave but stopped. You knelt down quickly, pressing a chaste kiss to his freckled cheek, feeling his face heat beneath your touch, "Adiós, Camilo."
Camilo stilled, stunned, mumbling a goodbye, watching you jog over to your family's stall. He turned his head to gaze into the water, that was it, he was in love.

Camilo Madrigal x Fem Reader
You and camilo are basically a copy of fèlix and pepa and everyone says it but you just don't see it(He/him pronouns for camilo and she/her pronouns for reader and some cuddle time with camilo)
https://open.spotify.com/track/1n7xFAY4xoPeqRvrkzAtsw?si=e2b27ac1925f4376
«────────────« ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ »───────────»
Everyone in town especially the rest of the madrigals always tells you and camilo that you two are just like pepa and fèlix but you don't see it, yeah your relationships might be a bit similar but you wouldn't exactly say that you're a copy of them how most people say.
The only similarities you and them had were, you were moody and emotional while camilo was a sweet talker that always made you feel better whenever you were upset and always kept you calm whenever you needed to be, camilo honestly could see it and didn't understand how you didn't when everyone in the town saw it.
You ran around camilo's room as you picked up his clothes "I told you many times to clean up your room 'milo." You said as you grumbled and camilo followed you around the room with his arms open, he just wanted to cuddle with you but you were trying to clean up his room "Amor...but my room is humongous! It would take forever.." He whined and you rolled your eyes at his words "It won't take you long if you actually focus on cleaning and I don't mean just throwing the clothes in your closet." You said as you stood up and camilo hugged you from the back but you pushed him away but he just stood in front of you "Amor, don't be mad...I like seeing your pretty smile more than your frown!" Camilo said as he kissed your face as he cupped your cheek.
You rolled your eyes and smiled at him "Fine but you better clean this room!" You yelled as you gave in and let camilo cuddle you "But, if you really want to cuddle then you gotta come with me to antonio's room because I promised him that I would play with him earlier." You said as you sighed and threw camilo's clothes that were in your hand into his laundry basket, camilo hummed and whined "Please stay...I'm sure toñito would understand." Camilo said and you shook your head "Nope, I can't just leave him thinking I'm gonna go..I gotta fulfill my promise." You said and camilo groaned "You sound just like my mamà." Camilo said as he hugged you tighter.
You rolled your eyes "Why does everyone say that? I'm not like pepa." You said as you put your hands on your hips, you weren't angry that people thought that of you but you were just confused on how people thought that.
You two may be emotional and moody but there was no other similarities as far as you could see "Whatever you say amor." Camilo said as he shifted into luisa and picked you up "Hey! I have to go to anton-" "Just cuddle me for a little while and then you can go." Camilo said as he dropped you on the bed and shifted back into himself as he flopped on your body "Fine but if antonio is upset, it's completely your fault." You said as you wrapped your arms around camilo and he nodded "Yes, of course corazòn." Camilo said as he snuggled his head into your abdomen.

theme: fluff + slight angst
pronouns: he/him for Camilo, she/her for reader
warnings: none (maybe insecure thoughts?)
word count: 1.6k
────────────────────────────────────────────
You groaned in your bed, twisting and turning, trying to find a position that’ll somehow make you feel relaxed enough to sleep. It was extremely funny the way that you were always yawning and how you had no energy but couldn’t manage to fall asleep at all.
You looked outside the window from your bed to see that it was still night, the moon shining bright. You cursed to yourself, wanting to do fun dates outside with your boyfriend, but because you were tired 24/7, you spent most of your days at home.
Camilo always visited you when you were too tired to move. You both would have deep conversations, he'll tell you about his day and rant about annoying things that get on his nerves. Sometimes he'll bring cards and board games to play. On some nights when you were lucky enough to get a thirty-minute nap, you usually hang out with Camilo in your house to do more activities like baking cookies. If you were feeling a bit more energetic, you both would walk around town, admire the scenery, and even run around until your energy was drained then you’ll have to spend the day in your house again (but this was an event that rarely happens so you keep it dear to your heart.)
You were so grateful that he understood your situation and still stuck with you but you didn't want to continue spending quality time with him just in your room. You want to spend more time with him outside, do some crazy things together like play pranks on his family and run away when they find out, explore the world together from morning until night.
Deep inside of your heart, you were scared. What if he gets bored one day and leaves you for someone way funner? Everyone knows that Camilo is an energetic boy so why would he want to spend his day with someone who can't even leave her house without feeling exhausted?
You know that thinking like this will do no good, that you shouldn't be having these thoughts. You know that Camilo loves you based on his effort and attention, but it was so hard to push these thoughts away at night, where you are alone and wide awake, not having anything to do and stuck with your own thoughts.
Your insecurities flood your head, your heart swelling as you think about how you’ll feel if Camilo, your sunshine, leaves you. You smack your head against your pillow as the pillow soaks your tears. You were about to wipe your snot with a tissue when suddenly there was a knocking sound on your window.
You snapped your head to look at the window with alert eyes, ready to smack the intruder with your tissue box when you realized that it was your amor crouching outside your window.
You rushed to the window, a smile immediately appearing on your face when you saw him. You opened the window a bit too strongly that it almost hit your walls.
“Woahhohoho, someone’s awfully excited to see me,” Camilo cheekily said, surprised by how strong you opened the window.
But his smile went away when he saw your red nose with snot drooping down, your puffy eyes with lingering tears. (He still found you so beautiful, even when you looked like that.)
“Mi princesa, why are you crying? What happened?” He used his sleeves to clean your snot which left you feeling embarrassed.
“Oh dios mio! You didn’t have to do that! Now your sleeves have my snot on it,” You half-screamed, slightly freaked out of the idea that he has your snot now.
“Please mi amor, I had worse stuff on my shirt, like Antonio’s vomit,” He shrugged.
“At least let me clean your sleeves,” You hurriedly took the tissue, wiping the wet spot on his sleeves. Camilo sits on the window, chuckling as he watches your eyebrows furrow.
'Seriously, I would do anything for this girl and she's already flustered at the fact that I cleaned a simple snot? She's so unbelievably adorable,' Camilo thought to himself.
"Anyways, why were you crying?" He asks as he lifts your chin with his finger.
"Nothing," You answered. Camilo gives you a suspicious look, one of his eyebrows arched.
"Really! It's nothing," You try to laugh it off, not daring to look him in the eyes but he softly pulls your face to look at him again.
"Nuh-uh, I know it's more than 'nothing'" He said, putting more tone on the last word.
"Urghhh how do you know me so well," You sulked, pouting your lips, "It's just something really stupid."
"Tell meeeee," He begged.
"It's just... I mean, why do you even like me? You're super energetic and I'm all just stuck in my room. You deserve someone who can go out on adventures with you," You rambled, letting out your feelings.
"Hey, hey... you know that that's not true, I feel peace in your presence when my life feels like a hectic mess. You're the one that loves me for me, and I love you for you. I wouldn't change a thing," He looked at you with eyes full of sincerity, stroking your hair behind your ear.
"I feel bad making you hang with me just in my room. I want to go to so many places with you, explore, have fun, without being exhausted," You feel the tears flowing again.
"Mi cielito, how about we try working on how to get you to rest first, m'kay? Then when you feel rested and bursting with energy, we can do everything you want! I'll be with you step by step," He pulls you into his chest.
"By the way, can you let me in? It's kinda freezing out here," He made an exaggerated 'brrrrrr'.
"Oops, my bad, please do come in, querido," You hold his hand to make sure he landed safely. There was one time he accidentally slipped and landed on his face and ever since then you hold his hand.
"Wow! You didn't slip, amazing job," You teased.
"Hey! That was a one-time thing and you know it," He exclaimed.
"Oh right, before I forgot, I brought you some tea!" He raised the bag in his hand.
"Mi madre said that it can help with insomnia," He pulled out a box of teabags.
"You go lay down on the bed okay? I'll brew you a warm cup of tea," He said.
You went to your bed, patiently waiting for him. He always brought small gifts whenever he visited, so you weren't surprised, but you always appreciated each and every single gift he got for you. It ranges from something simple as a flower to something extravagant as a handmade skirt full of details.
Soon, he entered the room with a cup of tea in his hand.
"I hope I made it just right," He said, his fingers fiddling with themselves as he watched you take a long sip.
"Wow Cami! This tastes so nice," You said, amazed. To be frank, Camilo wasn't the best at making food so you were a bit scared.
"Really? Let me try," He took a careful small sip from the tea in your hand, and his eyes turned wide, "Woah... it really does taste nice."
"Of course, I'm Camilo Madrigal after all!" He smirks proudly.
"Yes, my special chameleon," You smiled softly, taking more sips of the tea. Little did you know, his heart melted when he heard you say 'my special chameleon'.
'Oh dios mio, she said I'm hers!' He freaks out quietly.
"Hey, this tea might actually be working, I do feel a bit relaxed," You murmured, the warmth of the tea fills your body and the scent so pleasing to your nose.
Noticing that your boyfriend is just standing next to your bed, you scoot over, patting the space next to you.
"Come and sit here with me," You said, placing the tea on your bedside table.
"Say less, carino," He immediately takes up the empty space next to you, "Can we cuddle?"
"Mhmm" You hummed, already snuggling close to his chest.
You peacefully listen to the rhythm of his heart, his chest slightly going up and down, as he plays with your hair, twirling them in his fingers, while his other hand hugs you. You both stayed like this for a while, just enjoying each other's presence.
"You know, mi amor, you're not only the most beautiful and charming girl I ever saw, but you're also the most intelligent, wise, interesting, and loving girl in this whole world," He softly says.
You were about to reject what he said but before you even can get a word out, he peppers your face with kisses, and after each kiss, he'll give you a compliment.
One kiss on your forehead, "You're a one in a billion."
One kiss on your left cheek, "You're the reason why I look forward to another day."
One kiss on your right cheek, "You're amazingly breathtaking."
You were left stunned, your mind basically malfunctioning as your heart runs a thousand meters per second.
You covered your face with your hands to avoid him seeing your tomato face, as he laughs at your reaction.
"I love you so much mi vida," You whispered.
"I love you too, good night," Camilo whispered back.
You mumbled a good night back, going back to enjoying the warmth and comfort from the cuddle until eventually, you doze off.
Camilo smiled in relief when he saw you sleeping, carefully slipping out, and giving you one last kiss on the forehead.
"Sleep well mi amor," He whispered close to your ear, then left out the window.

Two by Two
Tumblr media
Being Camilo’s twin wasn’t easy when you think your gift wasn’t as ‘flashy’ or as happiness-inducing like your brother’s. As Casita breaks down maybe your power could be finally of good use.
masterlist !! two by two headcanons
Platonic! Twin! Camilo x Twin! Reader
Tumblr media
What’s worse than one Camilo Madrigal? Two Camilo Madrigals. Well, not exactly but you might as well be. Born a few minutes after Camilo was born, you were twins with the one and only troublemaker shapeshifter of the Madrigal Family. Though you can say you aren’t as bad as your older brother. Sure you would play meaningless pranks here and there but you were surprisingly more tame than he was, acting like another much more mischievous Isabela in your Abuela’s words.
While your brother had the ability to shapeshift into different people, you had the ability to shapeshift into different animals. Safe to say the first few months of having your miracles, Encanto experienced frequent thunderstorms and rainfall. The two of you were almost the same except however for your personalities. Yet you two would insist you were identical, often wearing matching ruanas as well as matching slippers so that you two wouldn't be told apart. You were proud to have him as your big brother and had loved him so.
Although you would be a bit envious of Camilo. Turning into different animals weren’t as flashy and people pleasing as Camilo’s. Though you tried to hide the fact that you felt that way.
One would think the two of you wouldn’t be as close but you would be surprised. Camilo adored you, you were his twin, you two shared the same womb, it was natural for him to be overprotective. He’d frequently tell you that you two would stick with one another no matter what.
You can always remember the times when you two were younger, whenever you’re upset he would always be sure to defend you. Sure you’d sometimes get into little arguments and tussles but it wouldn’t even last long. He would always be the first one to cave in and apologize. Although the two of you were almost the same, you were more sensitive than he was, fighting would almost always end up with you crying and storming out of frustration.
“I’m your twin.” He would remind you with a smile that the two of you shared. “You’re my twin, we stick together through thick and thin.” Camilo would promise. No matter what you or him did, the two of you would always be stuck with one another.
Although following your little brother Antonio’s gift ceremony, as well as the declaration that cracks were showing in Casita as well as the candle flickering, the two of you had ended up at odds once more. You stood by Mirabel, believing in your cousin that the miracle was dying. After all, Mirabel wouldn’t lie about such a thing. You were sure of it.
You didn't expect to discover more of yourself now that Casita was allegedly breaking down. The insecurities that you had dug deep deep down to please your abuela Alma resurfaced after stumbling upon Mirabel, while coaxing her sister to give her a hug. You didn't anticipate joining Isabela on venting out what you had thought were your flaws and weaknesses.
You grimaced as you watched Abuela’s enraged outburst. Everything was a mess.
Your primas, Luisa could barely lift an empanada, and Isabela was out of control. Then again you might have also been a part of the little flower show that Isabela had done, causing imperfect but still beautiful flowers and plants to grow. Your abuela had almost always suggested turning into animals that were beautiful in her standards. An orchid mantis, a scarlet macaw, a multicolored tanager, a peacock or a flamingo.. those were what she deemed as beautiful. Never what you liked. She never asked what you would like to turn to. Her obsession with perfection extended to you in a way. It's always been just,
(Name) turn into this..
(Name) this would look beautiful..
Ay, (Name) that animal would do no good, it must be beautiful..
And you couldn’t help but resent how she doesn’t tell off Camilo to change into 'beautiful' and 'perfect' people. Camilo was free. Camilo was free to change to who he wants and he wouldn’t get scolded for changing into something your Abuela thought was dangerous and ugly. So when you finally had the chance to be free and wild? You took the opportunity.
You had run and danced alongside them, turning into different animals you had only heard of from books as Isabela bloomed stranger but equally beautiful flowers.
A lion, leopard, tiger, and a beautiful snake too.. all of it had frightened the villagers as you ran and ‘danced’ on the roofs of Casita with your cousins and it didn’t take long until your Abuela Alma to rush in Casita, shaking with fury. Caught up with the rush, you hadn’t even had time to change back from your form, a clouded leopard with Isabela’s colorful flower stains on your fur.
You looked down as your Abuela berated Mirabel. Lips parting as she spoke to Mirabel with venom lacing her words. You tried to find the words to defend her. Still unchanging, your fur reflecting in the moonlight as you stood there beside Isabela.
“Look at our home! Look at your sister, your cousin..!” She says, appalled by your messy and wild form. At that you had slowly changed back, unable to meet your grandmother’s eyes.
“Please, just, Isabela and (Name) weren't happy.” Mirabel tries to explain as your cousin had started to pat down the colorful mess on her dress before turning to you to gently wipe the color off your face. Both of you shifting in place nervously.
“Of course they’re unhappy! You ruined her proposal and (Name), Mirabel, you managed to rope in your prima too?”
It was a back and forth before your grandmother’s voice had shakily escaped her lips.
“The cracks started with you.” Your abuela took a step forward. “Bruno left because of you.”
“Luisa’s losing her powers! Isabela’s out of control and (Name) has gone wild because of you!” You could see Mirabel's expression and you wanted nothing more but to come to her rescue.
“I don’t know why you weren’t given a gift! But it is not an excuse for you to hurt this family!” The ground shook from underneath you, Casita’s tiles cracked as Mirabel lowered her gaze.
“I will.. never be good enough for you, will I?” Mirabel’s voice felt unsteady and you could see your Tia and Tio Julieta and Agustin behind your abuela, worry written in their features. “No matter how hard I try..” Her gaze trailed to her sisters and you.
“No matter how any of us tries. Luisa will never be strong enough, Isabela won’t be perfect enough, (Name) won’t be like Camilo, Bruno left our family because you only saw the worst in him!” Mirabel exclaims. You winced at her words, looking down at your feet. You won’t ever be like Camilo. You won’t please enough people, you won’t make others happy just like your hermano did. You refused to look at your parents eyes’, clearly showing that they didn’t know how hard you struggled to please everyone by limiting who you were.
You especially couldn’t look at Camilo who, thankfully, wasn’t in sight.
“Bruno didn’t care about this family!” The skies darkened and more cracks started to appear underneath your feet.
“He loves this family, I love this family, we all love this family, you’re the one that doesn’t care. You’re the one breaking our home..!” Mirabel continued, frustration written in her features.
“Don’t you ever..!” Your abuela had taken a step forward, her face contorting in anger. But Mirabel had stood her ground.
“The miracle is dying because of you!” Your abuela’s eyes widened and she had looked taken aback, the angry expression fading from her worn and old face.
And for a millisecond everything was silent until the ground split between the two of them. Your mami had gasped, hands raised as her eyes were focused on the candle. Mirabel and Abuela had looked towards where the candle was perched, gasping.
“The candle!”
As the cracks worsened, it knocked the candle out of balance. Everyone braced themselves as the ground shook once more. Mirabel was the first to move, running towards the candle.
“Casita, get me up there!” Casita had broken one of the railings, turning it into a ladder she could climb up on. You caught a glimpse of Camilo’s figure who had looked at you briefly, lips pursed and an unreadable expression on his face. You watch him shift into different people, ducking and running to not save the candle but Mirabel.
Your cousin Isabela had grabbed a vine, swinging and attempting to help but as she did so, you caught sight of her door, flickering before slowly going out of light. Her powers went away too as she suddenly fell, and with the help of Casita had managed to get down safely.
Your brother Camilo was close, jumping to reach the roof in Jose’s form before he had turned back to himself again and you would have helped if it weren’t for Casita beating you to it. You quickly turned to Mirabel, turning into a cheetah and attempting to save her. Damn the miracle. Your cousin had helped you be more of yourself, and realize you didn’t have to worry about making people happy as long as you were happy. Your happiness came first and it took your prima to realize that.
You jumped and quickly maneuvered the debris that stood in your way, paws tapping against the cracked tiles that was pristine before. Seeing Antonio being carried away by your father, you had swiftly pushed and guided them to the way as more debris fell. You could see Mirabel reach the rooftop, and you struggled to climb up with her, running along the ladder Casita had placed down with all your might.
“Mirabel!” You could hear your Tia Julieta call out for your cousin, watching as the tiles created waves to push her back to the rest of the family.
“(Name)!” Your own mother’s voice had exclaimed, trying to reach out for you as well. “(Name)! Mirabel, leave it!”
As she struggled to reach the window, you had helped her out, letting her climb on your back, pushing her against the wall so she could have something to hold on as Casita’s roof tiles pushed her up even more. For some reason your door was still okay, still glowing despite the flickers. You can only hope you would have enough time to get the two of you out of there.
Your eyes widened as the largest tower of your home had slowly descended and you watched Mirabel as Casita caught her, creating a slide on the way down. You let out a frightened yowl as you were separated from her, your door finally flickering and going out as you shifted back to yourself, a large crash echoing as Casita came crashing down on the two of you.
Your family had quickly rushed in as the worst of the disaster had passed, dust and smoke wafting about.
“Mirabel!” Julieta’s cries filled the air with Pepa’s calling of your own. “(Name)!”
Your Abuela was settled down by Dolores, making sure the older woman was alright before she had joined the search for you. And she had sobbed, her gift being no more. Despite the times she wished her miracle was different or she hadn’t gotten a miracle at all, she wished her hearing had returned now so she could find you. She would take it all back, have her miracle enhanced to its maximum and she wouldn’t mind. If it meant hearing you again.
Camilo Madrigal had never been scared. He was supposed to be all smiles, so he could entertain, so he could make everyone happy. But as he saw you chase after Mirabel, dread pooled in his stomach.
His throat was sore as he called out your name along with your mami. No, no, he could lose his powers but not you. He didn’t even have the chance to say sorry yet. He didn’t know. If he had known what you had felt, what you had thought of yourself, he would’ve reassured you. He didn’t want another him, he only wanted one of you.
He was the first in the pile of debris, looking around for any sign of you.
“(Name), please, where are you!?” Dios, Dios, if he can hear Camilo’s prayers, please let him find you safe. “(Name), hija, where are you?!” Your mother and father had sobbed in worry.
You and Him. Him and You. Two by two, remember?
And Camilo had sobbed, desperation evident in his painful cries. The gravity of the situation weighing down on him. What if he never finds you? What if he was a twin no more? He’d give everything up just to know that you’re okay.
He was slowly losing all hope. There was no sign of you.
Memories of growing up with you had suddenly entered his mind and made him sob harder. The day of your fifth birthdays’ he had told you that he would use his powers just not to help the people of Encanto but to protect you, his baby sister. He promised to make you smile no matter what and protect that smile too. He promised that you would never be apart.
Once you had gotten lost whilst running wild in Encanto's forests in your many animal forms, exploring and not heeding any warnings or calls from your parents. As soon as Dolores had informed the rest of the family of your disappearance, he was already grabbing his ruana and a lamp. It didn't take long for him to find you, huddled inside a hollow tree, whimpering and calling out for him.
You were inconsolable, having been under the impression that you had been forgotten and abandoned. Camilo only shook his head and carried you on his back where you hugged his neck tight.
"No matter where you are, hermana, even if you were on the opposite side of the world, I'll always come and find you."
He had made you laugh, and had tried his hardest not to make you cry. He would tease you but you’d know he didn’t mean a word. He would give you seconds and when the two of you were caught, he would take the blame.
And he squeezed his eyes shut, tears continuing to roll down his freckles cheeks.
“Hermana, please..” He collapsed on his knees, hands trembling and all cut up as he had tried to dig through numerous piles of broken down walls and furniture. Antonio had curled up behind him, not wanting to believe that you were gone. Pepa and Felix had joined, pulling each other into a tight hug as Dolores stifled a sob.
“Cami..” A quiet voice had come out of nowhere and he swore he had never gotten up that fast. “(Name)?” He calls out. Was his mind deceiving him?
"Camilo," There it was again. Calling out to him and he whipped his head from side to side, looking for the source of the voice.
"(Name)! I hear you!" Dios, Dios, was it you? Were you okay? He begged to whomever was listening that it was you who he heard.
“Cami.. Mamí, Papí, Toñito..” Another call of his name and the rest of your families’ and he knew he wasn’t hallucinating anymore. “(Name)! Where are you, hermana!?” He was up on his feet, your own family following after him as hope swelled in their hearts.
A pile of furniture was situated deeper in the ruins of Casita and there you were, huddled up under the protection of the large dining room table as well as the large doors of your home. You coughed again, dust in your lungs as you breathed in.
Camilo was the first one to hold you, pulling you close and hugging you tightly as he sobbed against your hair. “Hermana,” You couldn’t look him in the eyes after what Mirabel had said but you allowed him to hold you. The next thing you knew you were both engulfed into a warm hug by your parents and Dolores who had sobbed as well, Antonio wiggling in between you and Camilo’s hug.
“I was afraid we lost you, (Name).” Pepa’s voice trembled as she gently cupped your dust covered cheek in her hands, wiping them away as tears rolled down her cheeks. She held you close, squeezing as if making sure that she wasn't dreaming. She gently held you in arm's length, looking over to make sure that you were okay.
"Mami, I.."
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Felix had gently held your shoulder and you looked down at the question as you felt Camilo’s gaze on you.
“I didn’t want.. I just wanted to make everyone happy like Camilo,” You admit. “But it’s hard with a miracle like mine.. or what once was mine. I thought if I just kept quiet, I’ll slowly love who I am and what I'm meant to be. I thought I’d be satisfied with just being.. I just wanted to make you happy.” You trailed off as you hiccupped.
“Lo siento, mamí, papí..” Pepa and Felix looked at one another before shaking their heads. “Ay, mija.. whatever makes you happy, makes us happy. Your happiness comes first and foremost. Whatever you wish to do, we will be right behind you.”
Camilo sighed softly as he gently pats your head. “You don’t need to make everyone happy, hermana. I don’t want you to be like me. I like you the way you are. I like (Name) Madrigal, my twin sister.” He says seriously.
“And besides, you think the town could take another me? We might as well be shooed out of Encanto.”
You stifled a laugh, your cries ceasing as you smiled and Camilo had mirrored your own. “See?” He ruffles your hair and your would tilt your head curiously, wondering what he had meant.
“I told you, I’ll always find you."

Tumblr media
(part one)
pairing: camilo madrigal x shy f!reader
summary: you like to watch from afar the madrigal family, quietly observing their magical nature as they bring life into your tiny village. unbeknownst to you, a certain madrigal noticed you, too.
genre: fluff
general navigation
---
Despite the obvious openness, Camilo opted to have his room off-limits to most of the people that lived in the house.
For you, however, he seemed to bend that reasoning.
"Princesa, don't worry," Camilo seemed to not be able to contain the giggles that slipped through his mouth as he watched you nervously pace around his room, a look of fright overtaking your features as you nervously nibbled on your bottom lip, "My family adores you."
"I just," You stopped, looking at him as you gave up, shuffling along so that you sat at the edge of his bed, "I don't want to be intrusive, or anything."
Camilo's eyes widened at that, quickly overtaking your frame in a large hug, shaking his head profusely in the crook of his neck at your statement.
"Mi amor, come on, do you seriously think that? Do you realize my tío Bruno lived in the walls for most of his adult years?" You let out a breathy laugh at that, and Camilo smiled, his hands holding you close to his chest as he put his chin atop yours.
"Are you sure, Camilo? I don't want anybody irritated with me." You muttered, skin growing hotter as his fingers drew little patterns on the fabric atop your waist.
"Y/n," He gingerly kissed atop your head, and you knew that when he dropped the nicknames he was being serious, "Nobody is irritated with you, no matter what you think."
And with that you felt your chest ease, your breathing calm down a bit as you let Camilo trace shapes onto your skin, the calmness his room offered leaving the two of you in another sense of tranquility.
"Camilo?" You looked up at the ground, your heart beating rapidly, how it normally seemed to do whenever you were around him.
"Yes?" His thumb moved up and down your arm, not noticing how the small act helped you relax.
"I love you," You whispered, hiding your flaming face inside his chest as you felt it rumble beneath you, his hands trailing down your spine, hugging you closer to him if it even is possible.
"Honestly, princesa, do you know how much I love you?"
And those few were enough for you to completely collapse on him, mind reeling, heart fluttering, eyes squeezing shut as you fell in love with him even more.
---
After that, you tried your best to ease whenever you were around his family.
When some time passed, you felt his words getting to you, seeing that maybe, perhaps, it was all in your head.
You noticed how Isabella also got you a bouquet whenever you passed her by, placing little flowers atop your head as she cooed when she saw Camilo slinging his arm across your shoulder.
And you noticed how quick Luisa was to help you lift the dirty plates off the table, ruffling your head when you thanked her profusely, telling you that it was 'no problem, Hermosa, we're all just glad to have you here,' and leaving after that.
Perhaps the most fearsome of them all, Abuelita Alma, seemed to approve of you, nodding in acceptance when you scolded Camilo for taking Dolores's arepas, and smiling softly to herself when Camil pulled out your chair for you, kissing your forehead before he went to sit down.
"Princesa, can you pass me the patacones, por favor?" Camilo leaned in towards your side, whispering in your ear to make sure that those around him would hear.
Save for Dolores, of course.
You nodded, giving him a small smile as you gripped the dish in front of you, passing it towards him as he muttered a thank you, flashing you a grin as he took it.
The two of you didn't notice how the table had fallen hushed, multiple sets of eyes on the two of you as you two quietly spoke to each other, leaning towards one another as the other whispered in the other's ears, lovesick smiles growing on your faces.
Señora Pepa squealed, her husband having to shush her as the two of you looked up to see what the sound was.
"Aye, Camilito and Y/n! Oh, my heart," She had to pound her chest, her sister having to calm her down as the both of you ducked your heads, looking away from the scene in embarrassment as everybody else was quick to jump on the two of you.
"It looks like there might be another Madrigal in the family in the future!" Isabella said excitedly, clapping her hands as she and Maribel conversed some things with one another.
Camilo tried his best to calm them down but the talking kept getting louder and louder, so much so that Dolores quickly excused herself, and soon Camilo gripped your hand underneath the table, tugging it towards him as he pointed his head towards the door, quietly slipping away from the scene as the two of you left.
It happened from time to time, so it's not as if you were shocked, but it never failed to fluster you whenever the Madrigals gushed over you and Camilo.
"'M sorry about that, they're just enthusiastic, you know," He explained, his cheeks twinged red as he peeked over at you, hoping they hadn't overwhelmed you yet.
But you just shook your head, a giggle falling from your lips, soon growing into a loud laugh as you threw your head back, clutching your stomach.
Camilo didn't know what he had said that made you laugh this much, in fact, he can't remember ever seeing you this carefree, but seeing it made him fall for you all over again.
"It's okay, Camilo, it's endearing. I like it," You promised him, squeezing his hand as he kiss the back of yours, tugging you into his chest, where it seemed that you're two bodies were made for each other as you fit so perfectly in his arms.
The two of you didn't say anything for a while, admiring the picturesque view the house gave of the town as you sighed contently, holding him close to you, never wanting to let go, not wanting to escape from the warm furnace he seemed to be.
You hoped that Camilo couldn't tell that way your hand was shaking, nor the way your blood seemed to warm up when he held you so tight to his side.
And Camilo hoped you couldn't see his cheeks blush a deep red, his lovesick smile goofy enough to make anyone swoon at the two of you.
And everybody else who peeked their head around the corner, shushing each other up as they swooned, hands gripping at their chests as Camilo whispered little jokes into your ear, his smile growing wider as you giggled softly in his hands.
The Madrigals held magic unknown, but even the moon and its stars seemed to be falling short in the way you two measured your love for each other.

Tu Alma Tan Hermosa, Como La Luna (camilo madrigal x fem! reader)
Tumblr media
⊱ ───── {.⋅ ۵♡۵ ⋅.} ──── ⊰
Camilo always found his cousin Isabela a bit stuck-up. It never bothered him, up until now, where she was ranting about someone to his sister, Dolores. It was when you were mentioned that he perked up. He’s always seen you around town, and he couldn’t help but be curious about you. The shapeshifter had asked his all hearing sister about her, and she’d quickly told him it wouldn’t be a good idea to try to talk to you.
“But why?” He had asked, reluctantly tearing his eyes away from your figure to look at his sisters serious face.
“She’s mean. Very passive aggressive, to everyone. You won’t be the exception, trust me. Now keep walking.”
Camilo turned to look at you one last time but it appeared he had lost you in the crowd of people. It made him wonder if Dolores had actually taken time to speak to you instead of assuming the worst. He dropped the topic, knowing it would only turn into an argument. After all, Dolores was the one who heard everything. She had to be right.
It didn’t stop him from thinking about you every now and then. Maybe he’s taken a liking to you. He snapped out of his thoughts to look up at Isabela, still talking his sister’s ear off.
“I was just growing flowers in town, and she tripped over one. She stepped on it! You’d think she would apologize.” Isabela scoffed, crossing her arms.
“or maybe you should have.” mumbled Camilo, huffing. Isabela smiled condescendingly at him.
“Sorry, how was it my fault? do you not watch where you’re going when you’re walking?”
Camilo grinned smugly at her. “Do you watch where you’re planting?”
She scoffed, “Alright Camilo. Whatever you say.”
He shrugged, walking away from the girls to head to his room.
But why wouldn’t you leave his mind?
-
A few days had gone on, but they felt like weeks for Camilo. He started sleeping late recently, mind clouded with questions about you. You couldn’t be as bad as people made you out to be. Maybe if he got to know you personally, he’d get to know you for you. The morning turned to night slower than a turtle could walk.
He was restless now, mind itching with thoughts. Thoughts that could be relieved if he got to talk to you. He never seemed to find the time to, far too busy with his duties. As soon as he finished, either you’d be gone or one of his family members would be rushing him back home. It was frustrating to no end.
He was brought back to reality when he heard motion coming from outside. His body automatically took him to a nearby window, peeking out. It was then that he noticed a figure, retreating to the forest-like place behind casita. He squinted his eyes, leaning more into the window to make out the face of the person.
The person turned around for a second, making sure they weren’t being watched or followed assumed Camilo. It was then that he caught a good look of their face. your face.
“This is a sign.” he mumbled to himself, silently cheering. He was too determined to speak to you to question where you were even going anyway. He watched as casita brought him his shoes, smiling. “Glad you agree with me.”
The only thing he had left to do was sneak out successfully. He slowly turned his doorknob, praying he wouldn’t wake his sister. He hesitated to push open his door, debating on if it would creak or not. The boy decided he would risk it, and of course the one time he hoped it didn’t, it did creak. He was tense for a moment, holding his breath as he waiting for someone to wake up.
He slowly let out a sigh of relief when no one exited their rooms, stepping out carefully. He shut the door, preparing to make his way down the loud stairs. Maybe casita would be willing to help out. Camilo thanked casita silently as he made way down the stairs, not one of them letting out a sound. He was getting closer to the outside, rushing forward to leave. He felt the cool of the doorknob meet his hand.
“Camilo Madrigal. Where are you headed?”
The curly-headed boy let out a soft whine, turning to his mother who stared at him from upstairs unamused. He gave her a guilty smile.
“Mami. Hey. I was just, uhm...” He faltered, struggling to give an excuse. Pepa watched him curiously, arms crossed as she waited for an explanation.
“I just can’t sleep. I don’t know why. I saw la luna and I just wanted to get a closer look. It’s not very visible from my room.” Camilo blurted out, playing with his hands.
“You know it’s late, right?”
He nodded at his mother’s words. She walked down the stairs, sighing as she placed a kiss to her sons head. “Ten minutes. I want you back by then.”
He nodded eagerly, thanking her before running out.

The shapeshifter quietly made his way to where he’d seen you go last, knowing that Pepa thought he would be looking at the moon from their house. He had to act quickly. You ended up making the job easier for him, since it was very evident which way you’d gone. He followed the shoe prints in the ground, walking softly. Finally, he’d found you.
Camilo observed as you sat peacefully, staring at the moon he’d been staring at not too long ago. The light of the moon shined onto your face, making you look so graceful, so pretty to him. He was stunned, in the best way possible. He couldn’t understand how people thought so negatively of you. The boy held his breath as he tried to decide whether to join you or leave you be.
You definitely seemed like you needed this, he didn’t want to interrupt. Or what if his sister and Isabela were right? What if you’d just push him away, and his efforts would all be in vain. Should he risk it? Could he?
“You know, I know you’ve been standing there for the past 2 minutes.”
Your gentle voice startled him as you turned to stare at him. He let out an awkward chuckle.
“I’m sorry. I don’t wanna come off weird.” he apologized, shying under your gaze. He was pleasantly surprised when you let out a tiny laugh.
“No, it’s alright. I won’t question you for now.” you quipped, turning back to stare at the moon. Camilo gained the courage to walk up to your seated figure, standing next to you.
“This seat taken?” He joked, smiling down at you.
“It is, by you.” you joked back, patting the spot next to you on the ground. He sat, gazing at the moon for a bit just like you were. You cleared your throat before speaking again. “Sorry for not introducing myself, by the way.” you turned to look at the brown-eyed boy, quickly realizing just how pretty he was. your cheeks dusted with the lightest red as you turned away from him and stared at the ground to hide it.
“I’m Y/N.” you introduced yourself to him, trying to distract yourself with a nearby stick and scratching the dirt with it. You didn’t notice him looking at you so endearingly, the same red on his own cheeks.
“I’m Camilo.”
He spent his remaining minutes left speaking to you, getting to know the real you and not the you people told him you were. You seemed to be aware of what people thought of you, shrugging it off like nothing. It was something he admired, but he wanted to protect you from those rude accusations. He wanted to tell the world about you, about giving you a chance. You told him a couple stories, including your run-in with his cousin.
It frustrated him how people were quick to assume. They disregarded how they made you feel, how they made you aggravated. From what you were telling him, you’d only been defending yourself. He wanted to change everyone’s view on you, he was determined to. And so, when he left you that night, he had decided to start showing everyone the real you. He was going to start with his family.
As soon as it turned morning, he’d rushed out of the house, leaving his family members confused. Camilo wasn’t sure where you’d be at this time, but he had a mission to complete. He would give a simple hello and goodbye to people who stopped him, rushing past them quickly. That was until a tired mother handed him her child, a pleading look in her eyes. He took the child gently, assuring the mother that they were in safe hands as she made her way back into her house.
“Looks like you’re coming with me, little one.” Camilo grinned down at the infant, securing them to his ruana with a blanket.
It proved to be a difficult task to find you, he even resorted to asking the people around if they’d seen you. He was close to giving up when he spun around and saw you already approaching. Camilo’s lips turnt up into a smile.
“Hey, Camilo. You have a baby with you.” You pointed out, eyes widening a little. He shrugged, grinning.
“Babysitting duties.”
“I didn’t think you the type.” you spoke absentmindedly, cooing at the baby in his hold. Camilo shook his head when he found himself admiring you once again.
“I’m pretty good with them. This little one will be spending the day with us.” You raised an eyebrow at his words.
“Us?” He simply nodded, his curls bouncing at his eagerness.
You smiled at him brightly. “Well. Let’s do this then.”
-
You don’t know how you found yourself here, walking with Camilo back to ‘casita’ as he said it was called. You’d taken a strong liking to the witty, flirty boy after spending a few moments with him. He hadn’t judged you, or been rude to you at all. He gave you a chance, and you were grateful for it. The least you could do was accept his invitation to come over.
That being said, you still found yourself nervous. Sure, Camilo had accepted you and gotten to know you, but would his family do the same? You didn’t want to think hard on it.  His voice snapped you back to earth, and you realized you were already at the door. “Wait here.” He smiled, his hand letting go of the grip he had on yours.
You blushed as he went inside, not having noticed you had been holding his hand the entire walk here. You waited outside anxiously, your foot tapping against the ground. You perked up as the door creaked open, revealing Camilo who motioned for you to come inside. You nodded, walking in with him. You were met face to face with a tall, ginger woman who looked at you with suspicion.
This was Camilo’s mother, you recognized. He’d told you all about his family during your hangout. Your starting to think he planned this.
“Hola, Señora Pepa. Es un placer conocerte.” you gave the woman a smile, extending your hand out for her to shake. The suspicion she originally held subdued at your politeness, as she reached out take your hand.
“Please, Call me Pepa.” The older woman responded, a noticeable tenderness in her voice. You nodded,
“It’s wonderful to meet you, Pepa.”
Camilo found himself smiling at the interaction between the two of you, silently applauding himself and you. Pepa glanced over at her son and then at you again, smiling herself when she noticed. “Oh, I should leave the two of you be. Don’t be afraid to make yourself at home, cariño.” Pepa ruffled Camilo’s hair before walking away from the two of you.
“Not bad, eh?” Camilo turned to you, still smiling bright as he fixed his hair that his mother messed up.
“I guess not.” you teased, smiling back. “Oh, here, I’ll fix it for you.” You walked up to the boy as his hands retreated from his head. Your own hands took their place, sorting his curls. Camilo was sure his heart was racing, and he hoped you couldn’t hear it.
“Is this your girlfriend, Camilo?!”
Your hands quickly dropped from his head, and he felt disappointment rise in him at the loss of your touch. He turned to see his dad looking at you both from the top of the stairs. He stumbled over his words, not being able to get a sentence out. That was until his mother rushed in, dragging her husband away.
“Felix! Leave those two alone, you ruined their moment!” He heard her scold, as Felix apologized profusely.
“I’m guessing that was your dad?” you chuckled, the added color on your cheeks from Felix’s remark having faded.
“Yeah. Excuse him, he’s just excited.” Camilo explained, nervous that his dad’s comment may have killed your mood.
“It’s okay. I get it. I’m the first girl you’ve had over.” You teased, nudging your friend.
“You are, actually. And if things go my way, you’ll also be the last.” He winked at you, before gesturing you to follow him. his comment was glued to your brain, however, not sure exactly what he meant. You didn’t want to get too hopeful, but you’ve grown to like the boy in the short while you’ve known him. You sighed, before following him.
-
Before you knew it, dinner time came around. Pepa had eagerly invited you to stay for it, and you just had to agree. She was way too happy about the idea of you staying, and you for sure didn’t want to let her down. So far, Camilo had introduced you a few other people. Antonio, who you played with and spoke to for a while.
Mirabel, who you clicked with immediately, your conversations coming naturally. Luisa, who greeted you with a sturdy handshake and a ‘I can’t wait for you to be a part of this family’. However, you had yet to interact with Dolores or Isabela. Camilo wanted to have you in his sight if you did, ready to come to your defense. You sat next to Camilo, hands fidgeting with your dress.
Camilo watched carefully as his sister walked, eyes landing on you. She let out a surprised squeak, hesitantly sitting down. Isabela walked over a while after, a glare being sent your way. You took notice, huffing as you looked away from the girl’s powerful look. Camilo noticed, taking your hand in his under the table. Your eyes could barely focus on anything other than your intertwined hands for the rest of dinner.
When you had finished eating, most of the adults had left the table already. You stood when Camilo did, preferring to stick by him. Just as Dolores and Isabel were about to leave, Camilo called out to them. His sister stopped reluctantly, and his cousin rolled her eyes before turning. “What is it?”
He spoke confidently, “I wanted you to meet Y/N.” You gulped as you tried to smile at them, waving slightly.
“We’ve met before. I know what I need to know.” Isabela spoke coldly, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
“But you don’t.” You spoke, chewing your lip nervously. “Look, Isabela. I’m really sorry for the whole flower situation. I apologize, really, If I offended you.” You spoke genuinely, making Isabela’s cold facade falter.
“and Dolores,” You addressed the rather quiet girl, which made her let out another squeak. “I know the awful things you’ve heard about me. And all the somewhat mean things I’ve said before as well. But that’s not me. I’d like you both to know the real me better.”
To say Camilo was proud of you was an understatement. He was beaming at you standing your ground, proving yourself. He took your hand in his once again, as encouragement. The room was quiet for a moment, before Dolores spoke.
“I should be the one apologizing, Y/N.” she sighed out, looking at you. “My mother has said not one bad word about you, and neither has the rest of my family. You’re a nice girl. I’m glad your friends with my brother.”
She then nudged Isabela, who huffed. “I accept your apology. Maybe I was too harsh on you.” was all she said, before retreating to her room. Dolores gave you the tiniest smile before doing the same.
“So...” Camilo trailed off, looking to you to see if you had any remarks. You squeezed his hand tighter.
“I think I’m good now.”
-
The moon shone brightly that night, prompting you both to go outside to watch it back where Camilo first spoke to you. Except, something felt different now. You felt more at ease, more comfortable. You laid beside the boy who was slowly stealing your heart, both of you in a comfortable silence. It was now your thoughts running wild instead of his, as you think about how great Camilo actually is. He gave you a chance, he talked to you, treated you normally.
You couldn’t be more grateful. Sitting up, you looked down at a curious Camilo. “leaving so soon?” he pouted, sitting up as well. You giggled, playfully shoving him.
“No, Not yet. It’s too peaceful to leave.” He hummed in agreement, nodding.
“Thank you, by the way.”
He glanced at you, confused. “What for?”
you played with your fingers. “For giving me a shot.”
“I should be thanking you.” you smiled at him.
“Oh yeah? What for, in your own words?”
Camilo turned to face you, meeting your eyes.
“For showing me you. Tu alma tan hermosa, como la luna.”

Do not read this work if you are of age and above (18+)
C.W: A tiny bit of angst, but there’s never much in my one shots, so mostly fluff
Tumblr media
Camilo tiptoed his way past Encanto’s limits, disguised as just another one of the many people running about as he avoided the prying ears of his older sister. He looked back once, making sure Dolores was not near enough to hear where he’d be, before diving into the treeline and out the other side, weighted picnic basket in hand. Ducking under outstretched branches and stepping around thorny thickets, Camilo found himself not too far from the riverbank, shifting back into his own form as he rushed out into the clearing.
There he saw you, all nicely dressed, waiting for him turned towards the river. Your hair shined in the sun’s glow as you kicked your bare feet in the into the water, splashing distractedly towards the other end. A small, mischievous grin settled on his lips as he creeped up behind you, shifting the basket hanging from his arm. It would have worked too, if you hadn’t spun around quickly with a grin of your own.
“Camilo!” You yelled, causing said boy to jump and shift— from you back to himself, and you once more then back to himself one final time— before calming down enough to shoot you a playful whine. His act didn’t falter even in the face of your bright smile, though he moved closer to wrap you in his arms gently this time, placing down the basket nearby.
“Mi corazón, you frightened me!” He cried, as if he hadn’t planned to do the same, pulling you so he was all but laying his head on your lap. You pet his hair placatingly, pressing a kiss to his forehead that shut him up.
“And you weren’t trying to scare me just now?” You hummed knowingly, eyebrow raised in suspicion as you bore into his dark, twinkling eyes; ever so slightly green in the sunlight. His face warmed quickly, looking away from you as you brushed his hair out of his face.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, mi Vida! I was simply…” He trailed looking back up into your loving eyes before looking away, cheeks warmer than they were before, “…simply going to hug you!”
His curly hair pressed against into your lap, his bottom lip jutted in a pout as you moved to kiss him on the side of his head with a mirthful chuckle, “Uhuh, of course, mi Amado— totally.”
Instead of replying, he simply pushed closer into you, pout still prevalent, “You can’t make fun of me today, I brought the food..”
“You already bring yourself every time though, mi regalito,” You teased, watching joyfully as Camilo shot up with a burning face; his pout swapped with lips tightly pursed in a flustered expression.
“You can’t—“ He sputtered, hiding his face in the nook of your shoulder, the sun shining on his back, “—You can’t just say something like that!!”
He wrapped his arms around you, feeling the way you laughed with all your chest as you returned his tight embrace.
“But it’s true!” You insisted, still bright grin moving to kiss the bridge of his nose. Instead of replying (though the warmth spreading through his freckled cheeks spoke enough) he took an arepa con queso and gently held it up to your mouth. After a loving laugh (that Camilo certainly did “not” find cute), you took a big bite and hummed in delight.
In your loving hold, surrounded by sunlight and silence, Camilo found peace as he fell ever deeper in love with you— the beating of his heart growing louder with every second.
In the town, Dolores had stood frozen as she singled out her brother’s laugh from far beyond the limits of Encanto, giving out a small squeak as it clicked in her mind when she heard your voice reply.
“Oh,” She whispered, doe eyes wide as her lips pursed. She lightly pulled on her skirt, turning around to whisper into Mariano’s curious ears, “I think mi hermano is with someone.
“On a date.”
Tumblr media
He should have known better, he tells himself, fists balled around his ruana as he watched his sister beside him, begging her with his dark eyes to please not tell— just this once— but he knew it was a fruitless endeavour. The moment abuela opened her mouth to ask what Camilo was staring at her so intently for, Dolores was already spilling everything she’d caught, words a thousand a second,
“… and then it clicked! I heard Camilo on a date outside of Encanto—“
“It-It wasn’t a date!” Camilo tried to argue, but even he knew that lie was one of his worst attempts at one. His whole face was burning, his voice cracking at the first word, dread settling in his stomach as he shot his head down to his fists balled in his lap. Despite the sound of blood rushing in his ears, he could hear distantly the sound of someone’s chair (and another one right after) being pushed back, squeaking against Casita’s floor.
He expected to be scolded, to be forbidden to see you again and to be told to stop loving your gorgeous smile— but instead he felt his mamá’s arms tackle him into a hug, his father’s pulling both of them into a tighter squeeze.
“Mi Tesoro,” his mamá cried, pressing her face against his hair, “My baby, all grown up.”
His father chuckled, gently shooing away the cloud dampening their hair to keep from getting them both soaked, a proud grin on his face, “Mi Vida, you’re getting him all wet!”
Camilo shot them all the same shocked expression, brows furrowed with his mouth agape as he turned to his father; his mother all but holding him still as she sobbed into his hair. Another rain cloud soon came after, but one more of gentle hail than it was of rain.
“You’re not… mad?” He whispered, voice not betraying the way he felt. His entire family shot him proud grins (his tío Bruno even gave him a shaky thumbs-up) and his Abuela nodded her head fondly when he met her eyes.
“Why would we be!” His father laughed, rubbing Pepa’s shoulder as she continued to hold onto him, faintly hearing her murmur something about him and Dolores growing up too fast.
“Sorry,” Dolores sheepishly added, though her expression was far too joyful for her to be truly sorry. Beside her, Mariano hummed encouragingly, giving him much more confident thumbs-up.
“You have to introduce us, Camilo,” his mami announced as she pulled away, cloud still over her head as bits of hail melted in Camilo’s hair, “I can’t believe you’ve never even told us!”
The rest of the night had basically been spent as an impromptu game of “20-questions”, one where his family had an unlimited amount of them and he had to give more than one word answers— really, it was more like an interrogation than anything, though filled with laughter and mirth. He hoped you’d find your place in this joy too one day, as a member of la familia Madrigal.

Hey dear, I really love your story and one shots, your writing is so good and when I saw the requests are open I couldn't help myself!!
Can I please have, hcs or one-shot, of Bruno's reaction to having triplets, it is known that twins will have twins of their own, and none of the other sisters had triplets, so what if Bruno is the one ending up with three babies?
Thank you for your hard work! ❤️
I usually do not write pregnancy stuff but for this I wanted to make an exception. I hope you enjoy it, even if i am unsure if it is any good
All good things come in threes

Length:  1779 words
Of course it had to be today. It could not have happened yesterday, when everyone was available but today. The one day that the entire Familia Madrigal was out at the riverside to remember their lost Grandfather Pedro’s on his death day. Sure, they invited you to join them, after all you were the wife of the oldest Madrigal son Bruno.
But considering your condition – your very much pregnant condition – you declined. The mere thought of you alone in the Casita caused Bruno much a worry, but you insisted he join them. What were the chances that you would go into labor the one day they would not be near? Well, apparently it was 100%, or so you thought, trying to breathe the contraptions away as you laid in the bed of Bruno’s and your room.
Even if you wanted to, the pain made it unable for you to even leave the sandy room to ask for help. Instead, you were alone in the vast room, doing your best not to make a single sound as to alert Dolores. You did not want to interrupt the one day a year that they went out to the river. Trying to distract yourself from the pain, you started to think of all the happy moments you shared in the last months.
Remembering your wedding day. The beautiful celebration organized by the family, making sure you knew that you were now part of theirs. The fact that they made you a bouquet out of glass blown flowers, made of the very sand your husband uses for his gift. Oh Bruno, no matter how long the two had been together, he still acted as loving as the first day he confessed his feelings. And if anyone spotted him throwing salt behind his back, trying to ward off any evil that could befall this day, then no one told him so.
Neither of you were great dancers either, yet the memories of your first dance were still as vivid as the moment it occurred. Sure, occasionally either of you stepped on the other’s feet but neither of you minded. Seeing his family and the town celebrate your love as you finally became one would always be a deeply cherished memory. Even if Camilo’s impromptu speech was quite a bit embarrassing, him impersonating his top 10 memories of the two of you, all while shapeshifting. But you two knew that he meant well, and all the laughter was like music to your ears.
Sharp pain was shooting through your whole lower body. This kid really wanted to see the light of day right now. So eager to join the rest of their family.
Instead, you focused on remembering the day you told Bruno that you were pregnant. While you could not believe the early signs, the nausea and fatigue, thinking you might just be overworked from your job as a seamstress, you could not ignore the fact that your chest felt tender or that you had missed your period for two months now. Something, that your dear Bruno did not pick up on, too focused on making his room fit the two of yours desires after you just moved. It was just 2 months after your wedding night.
Sure, you could have just told him about it the moment you realized, but instead you wanted to plan a little surprise. You knew of his deep wish to be a father and his fear that it might never happen due to his old age. So as the days passed, you started sewing a onesie for your first child, carefully embroidering a little grey rat on it. For as long as you knew him, he was always surrounded by rats, so in a way you always viewed them as his pets and adopted babies. You never told him that, of course, as you knew that children were a sore topic for him.
Proud of yourself that none of the family seemed to have noticed your pregnancy, you wrapped the onesie in a small box, hiding it until after dinner. You wanted him to be surrounded by his entire family when he found out.
And just like that you waited for this fateful dinner 7 months ago. All this excitement made it hard for you to finish your food, but you knew that you were now eating for two. Just as everyone wanted to leave the table, continuing their leisurely evening, you handed him the box with a beautiful deep green ribbon around it.
At first Bruno thought he had forgotten an important date. Instantly asking what day it was as he was apologizing for forgetting. You knew that time for him felt different after all this time isolated, so you just shook your head before exclaiming “Open it, cariño!”.
Carefully you watched him lifting the top, staring at the content of it, before dropping the lid. The pure elation on his face could not be put in words as he instantly pulled you into a hug. You could feel the older man shake as he started sobbing and blame the pregnancy hormones, but you just started joining him.
“Is this real mi vida? I-… I am going to be…” he asked in disbelief, brushing your hair out of your face. Tears of joy were streaming down his cheeks as you simply nodded, unable to say anything else before he kissed you. It wasn’t a pretty kiss, but one full of love and excitement.
It was then that the rest of the family was able to see just what you had gifted the oldest Madrigal son. The first to react was Abuela, who shouted out in joy. A new grandchild was bound to be running around this house soon. Soon after her everyone else started congratulating the two of you. Especially Antonio seemed thrilled at the thought of having some little to play with him. The impromptu celebrations took way past midnight. Even the Casita seemed to be in a chirpier mood than usual, and everyone was proclaiming their joy at the soon-to-be newest addition to the family.
It wasn’t until the two of you were alone in your room, separated from everyone else, that Bruno tentatively asked to touch your stomach, gently stroking over it and mumbling to himself – No, to his future child. Long after you dozed off, he was still talking to your unborn child, promising to be the best father he could be. That no matter what he would make sure that their childhood would be one of pure joy and happiness.
This turned out to be a daily activity for him, as you woke up each day with his hand on your growing belly and him plastering you in kisses.
The contractions were now less than 5 minutes apart and getting more and more painful. Unable to hold it in any more you shouted out in pain, aware that Dolores would for sure hear you.
And right you were. Barely 10 minutes passed of you continuously screaming in pain, that the door slammed open. A panicked Bruno practically falling up the stairs towards you, before throwing himself on the ground next to you. Grandmother Alma, Julieta and Pepa were close behind him, each carrying towels and hot water.
“Mi amor, I should have never left you alone! Are you okay?”, he cried out, holding your hand tightly in his, but it was then that Pepa ordered him out. He would be in the way of what was about to happen. It took Casita to pull him away from you, so that the women could start helping you. It was then that everything happened as if time speed up. One moment you felt the most excruciating pain of your life, thinking that surely you would not make it. The other you heard the screaming of your baby… but it was not just one. The exhaustion must be getting to you because you saw not one, but three little ones wrapped in soft cotton in your arms, before it all was too much, and you were greeted by darkness.
As you awoke after what must have been just a few minutes of rest, you felt water drip onto your face. Slowly opening your eyes, you saw the face of your husband, tears running down his cheeks.
“[Y/N], you are finally awake”, he whispered, smiling softly at you. Your mind still hazy you did not understand just why he was crying. Not until you noticed the small bundles in his arms and another in a small crib next to your bed.
Your children…
Children…
Looking at him with pure shook, it was now him that nodded, before showing you the sleeping face of your children.
“Triplets… we have triplets, mi amor”
Carefully he handed you the oldest of the three. Your firstborn son. He was just perfect.
“He looks just like you… he is beautiful”, you sobbed, unable to believe that you really were blessed with not one but three bundles of joy. Two boys and one girl.
Soon after the room was filled yet again but this time with the entire family. Everyone wanted to meet the new members of the family but wanted to let the two, well now five of you, have this moment in peace.
With all your loved ones around you, you sat up, cradling your son as you watched Bruno staring at the other two with pure love in his face. This was a miracle neither of you expected.
As Grandmother Alma held your youngest son, she softly asked if you had thought of names already. Everyone was staring at the two of you before Bruno began to speak
“We decided for a long time that if we had a boy…. If we were blessed with a son… that he would be Pedro in his memory.”
While she did not say anything, the shook of the name still too new, you could see that she was incredibly proud of your choice.
“If we were to have a girl, we wanted her to be called Amira”, you added, looking at your daughter in Bruno’s arm. She looked just like you.
“And for our second son… how about Mateo?”, you added, asking your husband with a soft smile who agreed with the name choice.
Just like that, the house was filled with the laughter and cries of three newest Madrigal children, turning a day of remembrance into a day of celebration. If anyone asked Bruno, he was a firm believer that this was a gift from his Papa, making sure that his memory and love would be forever present in this family.

Since We First Met | Camilo Madrigal
Tumblr media
Pairing: Camilo x fem!quiet!reader
Warnings: none that I can think
A loud sigh echoed through out the Casita.
Camilo wandered around the house for probably the sixth time that day.
No destination in mind.
Camillo was bored.
And when Camillo was bored, he made sure everyone knew.
By everyone, Dolores.
Call it a sibling thing, Camilo loved annoying his super-hearing older sister.
Either that, or he was genuinely bored and needed someone to tell him what to do and Dolores was the best person for that job.
Before another sigh could leave his lips, a door burst open.
"Camilo Madrigal, I am trying to read!"
Camilo spun on his heel to see, as expected, Dolores, annoyance written on her face.
"Oh, hey, Dolores," he began, a smirk on his face, "You know, I had no idea you were home just then."
Dolores glared at her brother, before taking a deep breath, "If you're so bored, just go outside. Try and make a friend or something."
"Hey, I have friends!" Camilo argued, only receiving an eye roll from Dolores.
"Then go see them." she whispered.
"And if I don't want to?" Camilo asked. To be honest, he really had no reason not to go outside. And no reason to annoy Dolores. But who was gonna tell Camilo otherwise?
Dolores just sighed and muttered something to the Casita, when Camilo felt a force pulling at his legs. He looked down to see the tile floors pushing at his feet.
Camilo stared at her in confusion, when he felt the wave of tiles pushing away to the door and outside the house.
"Really?" he groaned, taking a step toward the doorway, before it slammed right into his face.
You could say that it was no day to annoy Dolores.
"Casita?" Camilo asked hopefully, his expression lighting up when the door flew open, only for it to Dolores, the same pissed off expression she had since the last two seconds they saw each other.
With another obnoxiously loud sigh, Camilo left the Casita.
He began his walk through the town of Encanto, taking in all the sights he had ignored many times before, when he found a large tree.
More interestingly, the person lying under the tree.
1 hour earlier
"Y/N!" came a call from outside the door.
"Yeah," Y/N mumbled in response, barely looking up from the book she was lost in.
A gateway ticket to a whole new world, filled with magic, fantasy, romance and death, right at their finger tips, and in the comfort of their own bed.
"Have you been in there all day?" came another shout.
"No..." she mumbled, slowly closing the book, trying to get another paragraph in, when the door burst open.
"Really Y/N? I know this move has been hard on you, but you can't just avoid the reality by staying inside forever. It's been nine months."
'Books are so much more happy than the sad reality we live in,' she thought, not daring to say it out loud.
She sat up from their bed, facing her mother.
"Easier said than done." she mumbled, staring up the ceiling as if it would provide all the answers.
"Well, it's not like you've tried." she sighed, leaning against the doorframe.
Y/N sighed, looking down at her fiddling hands.
(M/N) echoed Y/N's sigh and sat down next to them on the bed, "Y/N... you will be fine here. I promise."
Y/N smiled at her mother, "Thanks mama..."
(M/N) smiled back at them, before standing up, "Now get out there! At least try and make a friend or something,"
Y/N took a deep breath, "Ok, mama, I'll try."
Y/N was quickly out of the house, their book hidden in their jacket.
She had to admit, the fresh air was better to read with than the stuffy air they were breathing in all day long.
Y/N ventured around the town, before finding a large tree.
Anyone would've just seen the tree, though 'nice tree' then moved on.
But Y/N?
'Perfect new reading spot!'
She skipped toward the tree and sat down, her back leant against the hard wooden tree trunk.
With a peaceful sigh, she got back into the book.
Hours could've passed, when they felt someone sit down right next to them.
Y/N didn't bother looking up from the book, 'Not making that mistake again'
She figured that whoever was there would get bored soon enough and then leave.
Boy were they wrong.
"Hey," the person began, snapping Y/N away from the journey the book took them on.
"Hey," she mumbled, barely audible.
"What book you reading?"
Y/N let out a small sigh and looked up to face the person, "It's called..."
It was like the words dropped dead on her lips when they looked up at the person.
Dark brown curly hair on their head with hazel eyes that would get Y/N lost in, more than she could ever got lost in with her books.
In short, they were adorable.
"It's called...?" The person asked, a confused expression on their face as they stared at Y/N's.
Y/N quickly blinked and recomposed themselves, clearing their throat as they turned the book the other side to show them the front cover.
The person's confused expression vanished almost instantly, replaced with one of excitement, "Oh yeah, I think I've heard of that one. Is it any good?"
"Is it any good?" Y/N asked, trying to see if she heard them right.
"Yeah," they responded, naïve to what was going on inside Y/N's head.
"Buddy, it's not good. God, this is the best book you'll ever have the pleasure of reading,"
The boy smiled at how enthusiastic she was.
"Th-there's this kingdom that's like, slowly dying, so the queen sends off her daughter to get married but she's not into it, cause she thinks that the guy's only in it for the kingdom's lost power, and- oh yeah, the princess's ancestors had all these cool powers that would..."
As Y/N went on and on, they couldn't help but smile at her, and how excited she could get about a book, when she slowly trailed off and stopped talking.
"S-sorry," Y/N said quietly, "You probably didn't need to hear me go on about that."
"What?" he asked, his eyebrows knitting together in confusion, "You don't have to apologize, that was adorable!"
He slapped his hands against his mouth when he heard what he said.
'Adorable? You just met them and you're calling them adorable?! Jeez, now you've scared them off. Great going Cami,'
Y/N's cheeks flushed bright red at what they had said, before she managed to stutter out a small, "It's fine,"
He smiled at Y/N, trying not to think about how 'adorable' she was, "I'm Camilo." He introduced himself with a smile, holding out his hand for her to shake.
Y/N blushed once again, before shaking his hand, "Y/N."
"Nice to meet you, Y/N," Camilo said, his warm smile still on his face, "I don't think I've seen you around here before. You just move here recently or something?"
Y/N nodded, "Well if you call nine months recently, then yeah. Me and my mum moved here just recently."
Camilo shrugged his shoulders, "I mean, it's not exactly the go to description, but it still counts,"
Y/N laughed at Camilo, who in response, just laughed back at her.
And their relationship only grew stronger from then on.
Y/N didn't make many friends (much to her mother's dismay), and she rarely got out of the house, but when she did, it'd always be to see Camilo.
Whether it was helping them with chores, going on walks, or (subtle) flirting, they'd always be together.
Of course the Madrigal family (mainly Isabela who needed some revenge) would be quick to tease him about it, asking stuff like 'When's the wedding, Cami?' and 'How's your girlfriend doing?', but with a blush on his cheeks, he'd lie and say that she was just a friend.
But he wasn't fooling anyone.
Except for Y/N, who was about as oblivious as the fly in your room that acts like they teleported inside instead of going through the window, and has no idea how to leave the room.
Of course Y/N had feelings for Camilo, but she's the shy main character, so of course she had that mindset that thinks that no one likes her.
Though that all began to change when Y/N got a visit from Mirabel.
"H-he likes me??" she asked, trying to get through her daily chores.
"Yes," Mirabel replied, trying to get through it as fast as possible, knowing that it would take Y/N a while to come around to the idea.
Y/N's hands grew sweatier as she carried around the woven laundry basket, "H-how do you know?"
Mirabel smiled at Y/N's question, "Camilo tells me everything, and anything."
Y/N just gave a confused look to Mirabel, before she huffed.
"Fine, Dolores told me."
"Well, thank goodness for that," Y/N mumbled, "But how can you two be so sure?"
"Y/N! He flirts with you everyday, he talks about you non stop, and goddamn it, Mariano wishes he could look at Dolores the way Camilo looks at you!" Mirabel explained, very passionate about the topic, "And don't even get me started on you! I see the little blushes on your cheeks whenever you see him. Oh, and let's not forget that you literally only leave your house for him!"
"Why do I feel attacked right now?" Y/N mumbled.
Mirabel shrugged, "That's love for you,"
Y/N nodded, "Thanks Mira," she smiled, before walking off.
Mirabel quickly hurried after Y/N, "Soooo, just to recap.... we've discussed that my cousin likes you, you like him back, and what are you gonna do about it?"
Y/N took a deep breath, as if she were about to say something motivational and empowering, "Ignore it until Camilo eventually forgets about me and moves on, to avoid my fear of rejection and losing him!"
"Y/N, that's... no." Mirabel sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Yes." she argued.
"Y/N I will slap that laundry out of your hands and drag you to my dumb cousin myself if you don't pull yourself together."
"Heh, right," Y/N mumbled.
10 minutes later
"You could've at least let me pick up the shirts from the ground!" Y/N argued as Mirabel dragged her toward the Casita.
"And give you an excuse to back out? Oh, you underestimate me. And there's no time to worry about that!"
"Why?" Y/N groaned.
"Because we're already here and Camilo should be coming out now!" Mirabel announced, a proud smile on her face.
Before Y/N could argue anymore, the front floor creaked open, and out came Camilo.
"Oh, hey guys," he greeted as Y/N couldn't help but notice the small hint of red on his cheeks.
Just the sight summoned swarms of butterflies in her stomach.
"Well, I'll leave you to it!" Mirabel shouted, before skipping off inside the Casita.
Her ship was sailing and she couldn't be happier.
"You good, Y/N?" Camilo asked, concern lacing his voice.
Once again, Y/N found herself getting lost in his hazel eyes, and counting his small freckles on his cheeks, that she didn't even hear Camilo speak.
"Y/N?" he repeated, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Oh, sorry, Cami."
Camilo chuckled, "You ok?"
"Mmm hmm," she hummed, before shaking her head, "No. Well yes, well I think so, maybe... yeah we're gonna go with maybe."
"What's wrong?" he asked, placing a hand on Y/N's cheek, unaware of how fast her heart was racing.
"Nothing! Nothing, I just..." with a deep breath, Y/N continued, "You know he feeling of butterflies you get when you're with some you lo- really, really feel good around? And sometimes your heart just beats super fast, and other times, you're hands get all sweaty and weird, and you're cheeks feel really hot?" Camilo nodded, a serious expression on his face as his hand moved from her face to her hand which he gripped tightly, "Well... that's how I feel... with you."
Camilo's eyes widened when Y/N continued, "I like you, Cami. Like, I 'like' like you... Y-you don't have to respond, or-"
Before Y/N could go on any further, Camilo moved his hands up to her face, cupping her cheeks, a warm smile playing on his lips, "I like you too, Y/N. Since the day we first met, I knew you were someone special."
Y/N felt her heart melt at Camilo's words, whey they closed their eyes, breaking the distance between them with their first kiss.
When they pulled apart, they stood with each other, Camilo's hands on Y/N's hips and their foreheads touching.
"You have no idea how nervous I was."
"Tell me about it..."
