fight for you
Inspired by the Book of Life. Part 1
A letter had arrived to inform the Madrigals of your return. Camilo is overjoyed to reunite with you.
Camilo had kept his word. Even as eight years had passed, as Casita fell and rose back again on the hill that the two of you had once ran around on, the hope that you would return never once wavered.
Although he wanted to send you letters, he didn’t know where to write to you and your father hadn’t exactly warmed up to him even after your departure. Oftentimes he would run up to him, asking for any news from you. Though Ignacio would only regard him for a moment before silently walking away. He can’t say the same for his family though. The Madrigals and the lonely widow Ignacio Castillo had maintained a friendship of sorts. Though it seemed that Ignacio hadn’t really seen him as anything but the boy that drove his one and only daughter away from him. Often frowning and leaving the room whenever Camilo entered.
He knew his reputation wasn’t exactly the best but he had tried to show the older man his good side. Often he had pestered him, helping him out whenever he could. And try as Ignacio may, he couldn’t help but admire the boy whose smile was infectious and bright.
Camilo had spent years waiting, completely unaware that he was a boy falling deeper into the depths of love. No longer was it a silly crush and it took years of your absence to realize that.
He thought that he would have to wait longer. Not that he minded waiting but the day he had been waiting for would soon arrive.
A letter had been delivered to the matriarch of the family while they were having dinner. He recognized the seal that had your father’s initials on them as well as the wax seal’s colors. He drummed his fingers on the table, fidgeting as he resisted the urge to just snatch the letter from his grandmother’s hands.
He watched with bated breath, chewing on the arepa he ate like his life depended on it as his abuela’s serious features melted away to form a warm smile. She placed the letter back in its envelope before placing her hands on the table, glancing at him briefly.
“It seems that Señor Castillo’s daughter is expected to return from after completing her studies in the city.”
Camilo choked, an unchewed piece of arepa lodging itself in his throat.
Pepa, not noticing the choking Camilo had smiled fondly. “Oh, how sweet, you’re getting all choked up.” She stifles a soft motherly laugh, knowing how Camilo had admired and loved the girl.
Most people would argue that it was puppy love and that it would pass but her son’s unwavering patience to wait for (Name) told her all she needed to know. She was blissfully unaware that Camilo was so close to seeing the light, his abuelo Pedro on the other side—
Camilo grasped onto the table tightly, turning slightly purple as he couldn’t breathe. Was this it? Death by arepas? Granted it was a good way to go but he hadn’t seen (Name) yet!
“Oh..! Ay dios mio, you’re choking!” Panic ensued as Felix had turned to his son, about to share some fatherly wisdom, only to see Camilo choking. He immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver as Pepa thundered and rained all over the dinner table.
Well, after almost having a heart attack from Camilo’s near death experience, Alma had announced that she would like to host a welcoming party in honor of (Name’s) return. Seeing as the Madrigals and the Castillos were more than acquaintances after your departure, she saw it fit to hold a party for the return of one of Encanto’s memorable citizens.
As Camilo laid in his bed, he couldn’t help the smile that graced his lips. You were coming back. After all this time he was going to see you again.
Camilo wondered what you looked like now and as he stood up, he glanced at himself in the mirror. He combed his fingers through his brown curls, smiling at himself. He could say that he looked good. He only hoped that he wouldn’t disappoint.
The shapeshifter turned to his closet, opening it up to reveal dozens of ruanas that resembled the very same one you gave him. Said ruana was carefully tucked away. He had worn it only once and that was on the day of your departure. It had slipped off his shoulders a few times but Pepa reassured him that he would grow into it.
He went back to bed, holding the ruana close to his chest as he reminisced about his childhood with you, slowly falling asleep with a smile on his freckled face.
Soon came the day he had been waiting for. Casita was roaring with excitement, much to his sister Dolores’ chagrin. Everyone had wondered how you were after being away from Encanto. Rumors of your studies as well as your beauty buzzed around the town. Camilo had looked forward to meeting you once again, fidgeting as he kept on shifting to different people out of nervousness.
“Alright, alright, calm down. You got this.” his fingers drummed against his thighs as he tried to focus.
The welcome party had been attended by the whole town, all of its’ citizens as equally curious as he was to see or know what had happened to the little menace that once terrorized the whole town with Camilo.
“Óye, (Name’s) on her way.” Dolores whispered to her Abuela before she let out a little ‘hm’.
He stood beside his abuela, with your father on the opposite of the Madrigal matriarch. Camilo donned the exact same ruana you had given him the last time he saw you, his white button-up pressed smoothly and showed no creases. He swallowed thickly as he fidgeted with the ends of his ruana, careful as to not pick on it too much as he was afraid of ruining the gift that you had given him.
“Camilo, your girlfriend’s here!” Isabela had smirked after she had peered out on the walkway where you were escorted by a boy that looked to be of Camilo’s age, though they weren’t familiar with him. Perhaps he was an outsider that you met while studying in the city? He was tall, handsome, a mop of smooth umber locks on his head. The unknown boy’s pretty amber eyes gleamed as he smiled down at you. Camilo could feel his throat dry up and his heart clench. Who was he?
A hush fell over the crowd as you finally entered Casita’s newly built doors. All eyes on you as you made your way down the center of the parted crowd. Camilo could hear their whispers but his eyes had narrowed on the unfamiliar boy by your side. He didn’t like it. He didn’t like him. Maybe it was his overprotectiveness for his girl.. His friend showed but he was far too close for his liking. Though he tried to push the green monster that threatened to ruin his whole night. This is gonna be a night to remember. You don’t want to ruin it, Camilo hissed to himself.
As expected, everyone in town was curious to see how you had grown. Camilo had quickly turned his attention to you once he heard the soft gasps that came from the crowd.
“(Name) Castillo has returned..”
A delicate fan had hid your features from curious eyes that tried to take a glimpse of you. You were dressed in a white blouse, delicate frills on the neck with a light yellow lace trimming, your skirt was long, embroidered with pretty carnations and sugar flowers and it stopped just before your ankles. On your hair was a little bow in the color of Camilo’s ruana.
“And she’ll be helping out with the children..” One of the mothers that Camilo had been helping had gushed as you gently ruffled the curly hair of the little tyke in her arms.
“I heard she reads books.. like for fun.” One of the haughty girls your age had scoffed, rolling their eyes while her companion had gasped. “No way..”
You continued to make your way through the crowd, a space between Alma and Camilo being made for you. The boy he had been glaring at joined your father’s side. Although he was nervous, Camilo had tried his best to retain his confident smile while your father had looked on proudly. “Mija.” Your father greets you with a warm hug and you couldn’t help but return the embrace before you had pulled away to stand in between the shapeshifter and his grandmother.
“Señorita Castillo.” Camilo breathes out, unable to believe that you were actually here now. You were so close and he could feel your warmth. He could only see your eyes right now, mesmerized and getting lost in them.
He briefly wondered if you even remembered who he was. It had been years after all and no letters were exchanged to know what had happened to the both of you in each other’s absence. Anxiety filled him and he felt his palms get sweaty. Though that soon would be melted away as you turned to him with that sweet smile you always gave him when you were younger.
You lowered your fan, eyelashes fluttering prettily as you beamed up at him. “Hola, Camilo.” You greet with a soft smile, only then making your features visible to everyone in town.
Camilo Madrigal swore he could hear a chorus of angels singing as his eyes opened wide to take in all of you. His jaw dropped and he started shifting again, his familiar disfigured face staring at you in disbelief.
A soft giggle merely escaped your lips, far too familiar with Camilo’s antics to be surprised anymore. “It’s really nice to see you..” You lean close as you whisper, smiling sheepishly, cheeks heating up as you recognize the ruana he wore. "You kept it? After all these years?"
Camilo’s own cheeks felt warm as he didn’t even know where to look. Your pretty eyes or the lips he swore he could kiss forever. And he could only nod dumbly as you smiled.
However, your attention was soon captured by his grandmother who had smiled fondly, gently grabbing your shoulders as she made a welcome speech that Camilo didn’t really listen to. Something about returning, yada.. Yada.. enough about his abuela!
All he could focus on was you.
Aside from his grandmother’s speech he would briefly hear muffled snippets of conversations of both your father and said boy who he now knew as one of your friends from the capital. He heard how he had insisted on escorting you home. He had shook your father’s hand firmly, proudly smiling as he heard Ignacio’s praise of making sure his daughter had come home safely. And to that he says, really? He spent years trying to gain even a smile from the ever cold Ignacio Castillo but it was given away so freely to a stranger?
As Alma’s speech ended, she asked for the band to play some music, no doubt sparking what would be a very lively party. Although Camilo wanted nothing more but to speak with you, you were whisked away by his primas who had fawned over your outfit as well as your now grown features. They had also filled you in on what you had missed during the eight years you’ve studied in the city.
You talked animatedly, recalling all your time in the city. He would watch, mesmerized by how you had become so.. so beautiful. Though there were quirks you had retained that he remembered when you were children. He smiled to himself, sighing dreamily.
“Camilo Madrigal. The shapeshifter, right?” A voice interrupted him from his thoughts and he turned to see the very same boy that was by your side upon entering Casita. “Andres Del Pilar.” The boy held his hand out. “I’ve heard a lot about you from princesa. It is nice to finally meet you.” Andres greets with a smile that didnt quite reach his eyes.
Something about this boy had honestly riled Camilo up. He was so.. Smug. Like he was smug too but his smugness, by his defense, was endearing! Not like this.. This.. chico engreido! He could feel Andres size him up, likely to scope out the competition as Camilo shook his hand.
“All good things, I hope.” He says through gritted teeth, eyes narrowing at the nickname the boy had referred to you as.
“But of course, mi princesa speaks highly of her darling friend.” Camilo could practically hear the emphasis on Andres’ words. His princess. Not yours. He turned to gaze at you just like Camilo had. The tall boy hummed softly. “During her years in the city, I’ve been granted her gracious presence. I admire her, you see. Only a blind man wouldn’t.” Andres had shook his head. “Numerous times I have thought of asking for her hand to court..” Camilo could feel his heart stop at his words, eyes wide as he looked at Andres.
“But I intend to ask for it from her father, Señor Castillo himself.” Camilo’s blood ran cold and he swore he feel himself freeze up, nails digging in his palms at how tight he was clenching his fists.
The tall boy merely gave him a once over, huffing haughtily. “Judging by your reaction it seems she has failed to inform me that this darling friend.. Doesn’t see her as just that.” He shook his head. “Though I really don’t see someone like you as a competition. No shapeshifting could amount to the life and the riches I could give her.”
Andres turned to walk away, bumping his shoulder against Camilo harshly and watching with a snicker as the shapeshifter had stumbled back. “Just a friendly advice, from one amigo to another, si? It is best if you cease any feelings you have for her, friend.” Andres had masked the poison in his words with his flowery sentences.
Camilo’s jaw clenched and he swore if he didn’t have the patience of a saint he would’ve seen red. Andres had expected an easy win. An easy ‘I yield’ from the Camilo boy. What he didn’t expect was dark green eyes narrowing at him.
“Que gane el mejor, amigo. May the best man win.” Camilo stood tall as he sauntered past Andres. If Andres thought he was going to back down, he had another thing coming. Camilo Madrigal was going to fight for you.
Nearby, hidden by a large assortment of plants, one could hear a little ‘oooh’ as they bore witness to the scene that had just transpired. Dolores, Mirabel, and their Tio Bruno had been listening in. After making sure that both boys had left the scene, Dolores let out a little ‘hm’ before relaying what had just happened as Bruno who had been quite inspired by the display, had taken notes, invested in his sobrino’s story and inspired to make a telenovela with starring his rats. Mirabel recalled the exchange from both boys to be used as the dialogue.
“Write that down! Write that down! That was telenovela gold!”

genre: pure fluff
warning/s: no proofread!- lip biting (only once lol)
a/n: this was so fun to make awwe -- also “Camilo Valdez Madrigal” isn't his canon name, it's just my headcannon
listen to this for the vibes:
The sky was gloomy as Camilo hears drops of water gently patting against the rooftop. His mother was having a bad day and had locked herself in her room. Camilo decided it was best to leave her alone for a while and had instead decided to stand by the house entrance to admire the serenity outside. He shivered as the cold humid air nipped at his arms. The boy took his ruana and wrapped it around himself, feeling relaxed and warm.
“Camilo!” A distant call makes him snap his head up, eyes locking with a very familiar gaze. She smiles when she sees him, quickly rushing over. She drops the umbrella in her hands on the ground, quickly engulfing Camilo in a tight hug. Camilo chuckled and wrapped his arms around her, leaning back against the wall.
“Is mami ok?”
“She’s fine, mi vida. Mami just needs to let off some steam.” Y/N hummed and buried herself into his neck, not realizing that he was softly gazing at her. Camilo’s heart was beating erratically but it seemed that time for him had slowed down as he found peace being with her. His eyes darted between her form and the rain, an idea popping up in his mind.
“Take my hand, dance with me under the rain.”
Out of nowhere, Camilo grabs her hand and pulls her under the rain. She gasps when she feels the drops of water start to drench her hair and clothes. Camilo just laughs and holds both of her hands with his.
“You are crazy, amor.” She jokingly whispered as Camilo pushes her away slightly so he could spin her around, watching as her skirt elegantly twirls around her form. The girl suddenly yelps as Camilo drops her into a dip. He leaned down to her face and grinned before tenderly kissing her.
Camilo hummed into the kiss, he felt his thick curls start to droop down from the rain but he paid no mind to it. His heart was so full of adoration for this girl and this was a feeling he wanted to experience for the rest of his days.
Breaking away, he started to place sloppy kisses on her face this time. Her chest rumbled with laughter and Camilo pulled her up again. He was smiling so wide, he felt his cheeks start to burn.
“If I’m crazy for doing this then I’ll gladly make you insane.” He started to slowly sway with her in a loose form of the cumbia. His cheeks were warm as the shapeshifter swore his heart was leaping up for joy right now. His feet stepped in synch with hers, hands far too busy clasped in each other’s grip. Y/N giggled and popped her hips, tapping her feet along to an imaginary beat.
The shapeshifter clung to the warmth of her skin as she pressed against him. Both of them sharing another tender and sensual kiss under the rain. He pulled away from her, lightly biting her bottom lip as he did.
“Camilo Valdez Madrigal!” She glared at him lightly, her face flushing as she slapped him on the shoulder. Camilo just sent her a cheeky grin, far too dizzy with excitement. He couldn’t think of a time he’d ever been happier. Bright sunshine suddenly surrounded the two of them as a rainbow appeared, despite that- the rain didn’t disappear.
Camilo caught sight of his mother standing by the balcony. She was crying happy tears while Felix stood beside her. Felix sent Camilo a thumbs up, watching as his son snorted— sending him one back. Pepa just smiled at him softly, holding her hand to her chest.
“They grow up so fast, corazon.” Pepa sniffled as she leaned against her husband. Pepa raised her hand to wave at Y/N, watching lovingly as the girl waved back. Felix smiled, softly caressing her sides.
“They do, mi vida. They do.”
Camilo turned his attention back to Y/N, pulling her flush against him. With a soft smile, she angles her head up to place a small kiss on his lips. Both of them shared a little laugh afterwards.
“Dance with me in the rain again, with the rainbows and sunshine this time.”

Inspired by this and this
It was yet another day in Encanto and it looked like the madrigals has more chores than usual, and that explains the sort of cloudy weather. You too were busy with your own chores helping your family with the store you owned, that was until you spotted a certain curly haired boy helping around. You decide to go greet your boyfriend Camilo since you were too busy this morning to meet him like you usually do and it looked like he was just as busy if not more. "Hey Camilo!" You say as you approach him but surprisingly he doesn't turn around to look at you but you are sure you're close enough for him to hear you "Camilo?" You call out again but still no reaction, you then tap his shoulder lightly making him jump and shapeshift into multiple people before turning back.
"O-oh hey amor, didn't see you there" He laughed nervously, making you give him a worried look "I called your name twice though and I'm pretty sure you heard me" You said as you cupped his face in your hands. "M-my name?" He mumbled softy looking confused. "Yeah, Camilo are you sure you're ok? Do you want me to take you back to Casita?" Now you were really worried and ready to take him back home but he gave you a nervous smile "No you don't have to do that querida, I'm fine really" Not believing his words you give him another worried/frustrated look and let go of his face, he sighed cupping your cheek in his hand "Ok how about this, I'll continue with my chores and if I don't feel too good I'll go back" You placed your hand on top of his on your cheek, leaning into his touch "Fine but as soon as you feel tired you leave whatever you're doing and rest ok?" He could tell you were REALLY worried and he appreciated it "Alright mi vida, calm down ok?" You sighed letting his hand fall from your face, then you leaned forward and pecked the tip of his nose gently "Ok, I'll stop by Casita later to check on you though alright? I gotta go back to the store" He smiles at you and leans in kissing your forehead "Alright I'll see you then mi amor" And with that you waved at him and got back to what you were doing.
The sun was already starting to set when you were done with your chores but you still had some time so check on Camilo, so once your father told you that you're done for the day you rush to the Madrigal household to check on your boyfriend as you promised. Once you got to the front door of Casita the window started moving as if it was waving at you but weirdly fast as if telling you to hurry, one you step on the tiles they immediately started moving you into the house and around it until you bumped into Pepa, who was pacing around with a thunder cloud forming above her head and when she saw you she immediately hugged you "Oh thank got you're here Y/N, I was so worried that you were not coming today" After that she started to pull you upstairs "Why? Tía Pepa, what's wrong?" You were confused but then you and Pepa came to a stop when you were in front of Camilo's door, and it was weirdly glowing a little too much making it hard to look at it properly, You then look at her with a worried expression "Camilo came back a little early today saying he wasn't feeling too well, he would not react to calling his name and then started to shapeshift into random people at weird times then rushed to his room and then locked himself in. I tried to talk to him but he wouldn't let me or anyone in then his door started to glow like that. Dolores said that she could hear him mumbling your name while crying so I sent Antonio to look for you" You then looked at the door worried out of your mind trying to prosses what Pepa said, You then walk forward and knock on the door lightly "Go away!" You could feel your heart aching when you heard how hurt his voice was "Camilo? Mi vida, It's me" You then heard some shuffling before the door opened and you were pulled in and the door was locked behind you again, and the sight in front of you made your heart shatter. There was Camilo standing in front of you, his face full of tears, his eyes red and puffy from crying and he was just shapeshifting randomly but not returning to his own body, he then looked up at you with a terrified expression "I don't remember" Is all he could say as he collapsed into your arms still shapeshifting randomly "What is it amor? What don't you remember?" You ask with a worried voice you too on the verge of tears. Camilo tried to speak but he was crying too much, you try to calm him down a little so he would be able to speak. You stayed in that position for a little bit more until you pick him on his feet at walk him to the bed, when he finally spoke "I don't... I don't remember what I l-look like Y/N..." He was about to start sobbing again when you pulled him closer to you, rubbing his back soothingly "I-i don't even remember my own name..." and with that he starts to cry harder making your heart ache even more. You try to comfort him by rubbing his back and wrapping your arms tighter around his waist, pulling him closer as he cried into your shoulder.
A while later he started to calm down a little, settling on 3-5 people to shift into instead of the whole town, you then pulled away from the hug to cup his face "Is it better now? Do you still not remember?" He only shook his head and buried his face into your chest, you then had an idea to somewhat help him. "Hey Camilo" He slowly looked up at you before shapeshifting into Antonio accidently, making it easier to hold him into your chest "That's m-my name..." You smiled, nodding you reach into your bag for something "Yeah, and look here..." You pulled out a picture of you two that you took after you officially started dating, Camilo had you on his back giving you a piggy back ride around the town, looking at the picture you remember how chaotic that day was making you smile. "... This is our favorite picture of each other" He took the picture from you and looked at it before looking back up. "T-that's me..." He points at himself with an almost un-noticeable smile on his face, you hugged him tightly while smiling too. "Yeah that's you... You wanna try turning back to yourself?" He nodded and got off your lap, standing in front of you.
And there he stood, your boyfriend was back to his usual self and you couldn't help but jump into his arms burying your face into his chest. He wraps his arms around your waist pulling you closer "Thanks Y/N" is all he said as he squeezed you tighter bringing you closer to him, now he doesn't go anywhere without a picture of you two that you wrote his name on it's back to make sure that he doesn't forget himself again.
Hey!!! This is my first fic and i hope you enjoy✨✨♥♥♥

*ੈ✩‧₊˚ IN WHICH: two enemies find themselves getting lost in each others eyes.
˚ · . camilo madrigal x fem!reader.
ೃ⁀➷ Y/n and Camilo despise each others presence. Every time someone brings the others name up in a conversation they would just loudly groan and change the subject.
Everyone knew about their obvious hatred for each other and the worst thing is that they have to see each others face almost every day. why? oh well because Y/n is best friends with Mirabel and she would often help Julieta with her restaurant.
This detesting for one another began when they were 10. One bright day, it was a birthday party of another kid in the village. Every thing was well, lights, the sound of grilling food, and laughter. The two kids were minding their own business, running around with a big smile on their face like all the other children.
“I’ll be right back, guys! I’m going to go get a desert because i haven’t gotten any!” Y/n notified her friends and walked towards the large table where all the treats were. As she eyed the table she noticed that she was too late to get any deserts.
There was only one pink glazed donut left in the tray. The small girl huffed and reached her arm out to grab it but her hand bumped against someone elses soft hand. She looked to her side only to notice a mixed curly haired boy. He looked around her age.
They locked eyes, lips slightly apart. Y/n was admiring the boys features until she felt the hand back up. Her eyes trailed down to the donut but she then realizes it’s not there anymore. The h/c girl gasped and looked back at the boy she was admiring a few seconds ago.
“Hey! Thats mine!” Her high pitched voice yelled. “Who said?” Camilo responded with a smirk while he took a big bite of the desert. “I haven’t aten any of the deserts!” She added, annoyance in her tone of voice.
He shrugged and continued chewing the sweet, unfazed. Y/n grew angry with this random boy and took the donut out of his hand. He gasped and furrowed his eyebrows. “Mine.” She affirmed and walked away. Camilo sprinted up to her and snatched the poor donut from her grasp.
They fought for the sweet until both their parents caught them. “Camilo Madrigal!” “Y/n L/n!” both their mothers yelled out in anger. Camilos eyes widened as he saw his mom standing there with a cloud above her head.
“Mierda” The small boy cursed under his breath.
And thats how it all started. Julieta took notice of their acts, noticing that hatred isn’t the only thing going on between the two. The mother just smirked and thought of a perfect plan.
“Camilo!” Julieta called out for her nephew. He sprinted down and questioned. “Yes, tía?” He asked her. “Mijo, Could you please call Y/n down here please. I need a word with you two” She smiled gracefully. Camilo let out a groan at his aunts words. “Why me? You know shes with Mirabel right now, right?” He complained. The woman just nodded. “Yes, but i need to talk to both of you” She repeated.
The boy simply nodded and lazily walked up to his primas room. He knocked on Mirabels door and rolled his eyes when he heard the two girls giggling. “Who is it- Oh! Camilo, what’s up?” Mirabel questioned. He could hear Y/n let out a deep sigh at his name.
“Tía said she wants to talk to Y/n and I” He murmured. Y/n got up when she heard. Camilo swore he felt his heart skip a beat when he saw her e/c orbs glare at him.
“I’ll be back, Mira!” Y/n told Mirabel as she walked down to the kitchen with her enemy right besides her. Y/n reached the casitas kitchen and greeted Julieta with a warm smile. “Hola señora Julieta!” Y/n smiled at the woman. “Buenos días, Y/n!” Julieta kindly said.
Camilos eyes rolled at how pathetically sweet she was to others but him. She always gave others her true warm and vibrant smile, but to him? All she gave was frowns and insults.
“Okay, i called you two to say- Camilo, are you listening?” Julietas loud voice snapped the green eyed boy out of his thoughts. “Ye- Yeah?” He stuttered nerviously. Julieta softly shaked her head and continued. “Y/n you’re working at the restaurant tomorrow?” She asked, in which her answer was yes. “Great! Perfect! So you two can get along more-” The two teenagers raised an eyebrow at her.
“-Camilo, i want you to be spend one day in the restaurant with Y/n-” She spoke and got interrupted by two loud yells. “WHAT?!” Both Y/n and Camilo shouted.
Mirabel suddenly came walking near them, grabbing an arepa and smirking. “Pepa agreed too.” She mentioned before taking a bite of the arepa con queso. “No way! That would be one day of total torture!” Camilo shouted. Y/n lightly shrugged and soon Pepa walked up to them too.
“You two have to get along! Todos estos años han sido pesadillas!” (all these years have been nightmares!) The ginger complained with her hands covering her face. “Hmm, i agree. It’s just one day either way. Can’t be that bad, verdad Camilo?”(right, camilo?) Y/n boldly smirked, facing the boy.
Camilo looked at the h/c girl like she was absolutely crazy. “I mean.. sure..” He sighed. Pepa’s smile was so wide she even had a rainbow above her head. “Excellent! My two angels will finally get along!” She grinned hapily. “Might” Camilo muttered.

Y/n took small steps while walking to Julietas restaurant. As she stepped inside, Camilo was already there wiping the tables clean for the customers. “Finally, you’re here” Camilo groaned causing Y/n to roll her eyes. “I’m not late you’re just too early” She joked. Camilo chuckled but hid it with a super fake cough.
While they were cleaning, Y/n was reaching to grab the mop but when she felt another hand against hers she huffed without looking up. “I grabbed it first” Y/n simply said but the boy wouldn’t let go. “Not this again, princesa” Camilo teased. “Just let go. I will mop” She told him. “No, i’ll do it. I’m bored” He replied.
Y/n pouted, looking up at the freckled boys face. “dios mio, Camilo! Why dont you just let me do it?” She frowned. He laughed a bit at her face. “And why don’t you just shut up and let ME do it?” He replies back. “Make me” She bitterly answered not expecting the next action to happen. With no hesitation, Camilo pressed his lips against hers. She was surprised at first but melted quickly.
They pulled away, their faces tulip pink. “That shut you up, didnt it, hermosa?” He joked with a playful smirk plastered on his lips. “be quiet..” Y/n whispered embarrasingly.
“𝙾𝙺𝙰𝚈 𝙸𝙼 𝙹𝚄𝚂𝚃 𝙶𝙾𝙽𝙽𝙰 𝚂𝙰𝚈 𝙸𝚃...“
𝙲𝚊𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚘 𝙼𝚊𝚍𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚊𝚕 𝚇 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛
“you like him don’t you…?” mirabel asked as she hung upside from her bed.
“pft- me? no…nah couldn’t be me..” you peaked up, being careful not to ruin your nails. “oh shut up! you totally do! i see how you blush around him…” she laughed as you had a surprised expression “you can actually see me blush?!” was the only thing you could think of in that moment.
“oh so you do blush? hm..interesting..” she fell as you pulled her pj shirt down. “agh! rude!”
“that’s what you get…your lucky i didn’t mess up my nails-“ you were cut off as someone erupted through the doors.
“are you guys okay? i heard something fall and dolores told me to check…oh…y/n..!” he smiles quickly at you and went back to his concerned face. “uh..you sure if wasn’t just an excuse to see y/n?” mirabel snorted as you hit her subtly.
“wha- no! i just…i was…bah!” he hid his face and closed the door. “bye..!” mirabel smiled as she turned her head towards you. “i’ve never seen him stutter like that before” she smirked “you make him nervous~!” you laughed sarcastically “i didn’t even say anything…he was just nervous because he heard something fall.”
camilo was still outside hearing the whole conversation and mirabel was in fact, correct. you make him nervous ever since that day…he recalls it every night and in his dreams all he can see is your pretty face.
“camilo? something the matter?” you sat down beside him on a bench.
“uh no..just uhm thinking..” he wiped his face quickly. what would she think if she saw him crying? he’s supposed to manly…
you placed a hand on his shoulder and wiped his tears away gently. “camilo you can tell me anything, when you’re ready chulo.” you smiled reassuringly.
his heart skipped a beat, you called him cute and you were caring about him and everything about you was perfect…he thinks he…but he can’t say it.
“thank you…it was just a tough day.” he leaned his head on to your shoulder and ranted about what happened. you listened, and gave advice that actually helped him. and for once he knew how to solve the equation, you were the answer all along.
mirabel stepped out of the room to get some snacks and drinks. camilo took this as a chance to shape shift into her.
“hey y/n/n, tia said we couldn’t get snacks…” her voice seeming a little lower than usual to you. you shrugged it off.
“it’s fine, i need to tell you something anyway…” you fidgeted with your rings.
“hm?” she tilted her head and sat down.
“okay well since you brought up camilo i guess maybe i do have a potential crush on him…” you groaned “i like his beautiful stupid crooked smile and his awkwardness but also his confidence, the way he helps everyone but still makes time for the most important people in his life. i like the way his dumb voice sounds and how he calls me names…” you sighed softly.
a blush came from mirabel, maybe it was too much. “sorry i bet i uh sounded dumb..” you hid your face. “i..uh i’ll be right back..” before you could protest she was already out the door.
it was already said and you can’t help but feel relieved. just then mirabel bursted through the door with snacks and fizzy drinks in her hands. you looked at her confused, didn’t she say that tia pepa told us we can’t have snacks?
“wait if your mirabel then that makes…” your eyes widen and you ran to find camilo.
“camilo!” you whispered yelled and then a arm yanked you into a room. camilos room to be exact.
“first. my smile is gorgeous…second. my voice is not dumb. third. do you really like me? i mean all this time…i…” he trapped you between himself. sighing heavily he spoke up again, “okay i’m just gonna say it…”
“you make me feel better and i like your pretty face, i like the way you comfort me but also help me laugh, when you do that little mumbling to yourself when you’re nervous, i can’t help but wonder do you ever think about me?” you smiled and nodded “all the time..” you whispered.
this was it. the part he always imagined. except, they’re in his room, so close, leaning in. you put a hand on his cheek, his warmth felt nice on your cold palm. “you’re always on my mind…” he confessed, whispering softly as he leaned more into your hand. “camilo…can..” you didn’t have to ask, he wanted to this whole time.
you both leaned in, a burst of different feelings hit you. love was the main one. his hands dropped to your waist and lifted you up. his lips felt like the missing puzzle finally being put into place. he could get used to this.
a shining light hit both of your faces. you detached from his lips and looked at the doors. a big rainbow was over pepas head as she smiled, mirabels match making worked, and dolores big doe eyes were a little watery.
you felt embarrassed, how long have they been standing there?! you hid your head under camilos ruana. “dios mío…” you mumbled as he did little head pats to calm you.
“we interrupted them! go get out guys!” mirabel whispered yelled. felix gave camilo a small thumbs up and pepa couldn’t contain the light from her rainbow. dolores closed the door, telling him to not do anything too risky.
“you can come out now amor..” he chuckles as he looked down at you. you peeked your head up and saw his eyes looking straight at you.
“i…i know we’ve been friends, and you’re probably not feeling the way i’m about to tell you right now, but y/n youre just so irresistible i…i love you, okay?” he sighed lovingly “and all this time i was contemplating on if i should-“
you cut him off his rambling and gave him a quick little kiss. “hey…” you smiled softly and gave him a gentle hug “i love you cami, i know we’re young but i know for sure you’re going to be the one who’s holding my heart.” you leaned into the crook of his neck.
“this is nice…” he smiled, the overwhelming feeling came back just like when he kissed you, he was stuck on the way your lips felt against his. he likes comparing your presence to the rain, so helpful to the world, relaxing to have, and enjoyable to listen to.
he felt like fireworks, so beautiful to finally see him show his colors, the way his voice can have a loud boom yet can be so quiet, and how he makes everyone happy just by seeing him, his charming liveliness making him captivating.
he loves you, and you finally knew.
i really hope you guys liked this and it didn’t disappoint 🤍 thank you so much for the support :-) i’m also very in love with the song being matched with camilo “i belong with you, you belong to me en nuestra casita ternura ” AAAAA SHUT UP IM GONNA WRITE ANOTHER FF RN DONT TEMP ME >:(

𝙒𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 : Body horror, burns, exposed bones
Paring : Camilo Madrigal x F!reader
𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 : Camilo's imaginary friend ; a retro scope
I do not know any Spanish so I did use a lot of google translate, so if there's any mistake I apologize, just let me know ill fix it asap
Camilo 5 years old :
Camilo smiled tracing the calk along his walls, copying your movements as you drew on the floors. "Glitchy looks," Camilo said happily pointing to the squiggles he made.
You glitched to stand next to him, ruffling his hair. "It's amazing Milo."
Camilo 6 years old :
Camilo ate his watermelon, as he drew on plain paper with a box of nearly empty crayons. "What are you drawing Milo?" You asked leaning over Camilo's shoulder as he sat at his desk.
"You, Mami can't see you so I'm drawing you instead," Camilo explained trying to match the same green you wore to the crayons.
Camilo 7 years old :
"You know Mami says you aren't real," Camilo said flopping his arms around in his new ruana. You chuckled glitching over to stand behind him. You towered over him, you were his imaginary friend, someone he could relate to but you were pushing eighteen years old. "Why are you so much taller than me?" Camilo complained sticking his chip to appear taller.
Camilo 10 years old :
"Camilo, I thought you were hanging out with glitchy," Isabella teased. Camilo paused but quickly continued to scoff down his lunch.
"She's not real, so does it matter?" Camilo deadpanned only glancing over at you standing in the far corner. Your throat burned and you turned around the corner stomping away, dissipating into the shadows.
Camilo 15 years old :
Camilo closed his door, sighing in relief that he was done with his chores. Camilo tossed his ruana on his chair, squinting in confusion at the purple vest that hung on the back of the chair. Camilo took it in his hands tracing his fingers over the torn fabric, noticing the black burns the tinged the ends. Camilo brought the vest closer to his face, seeing the diamond pattern. Camilo's eyes widened tossing the clothing on his bed and began searching through the draws next to his bed, finally digging until he reached the pile of hand-drawn pictures. Camilo paused on the messy drawing of a girl in a bright purple suit, covered in bright blue diamonds and green shoes and gloves. "No way..." Camilo whispered to himself. A thud sounded in front of Camilo, and he looked down at his feet. It was a bright yellow circle smiley face but the eyes were scratched out with crosses. It ticked for a few seconds before exploding in confetti, a note came out as well, simply spelling hello. Camilo reached for the vest but it had gone missing. Camilo spun around, turning to his desk but jumped back onto his bed, seeing the girl, you, sitting on his desk.
"Hello, Camilo..." You smiled and Camilo cringed, your skin was blackened and dripping, the burns on your face making his insides twist. "Have you been having fun?" You rolled your green sleeves up and Camilo resisted throwing up, he could see your bones, blackened like charcoal. "Have you missed me?"

You and Camilo had a lot in common, one of this is your love for acting, for theatre. It's one of the reasons why you two are dating in the first place. He first met you while you were rehearsing your lines, all on your own, so he decided to help you out. A new friendship bloomed and it soon turned into a wonderful relationship.
Despite the fact that you've done this several times, you still couldn't help but feel nervous... yet excited. "Mi vida! I'm here!" The voice that you loved so much called out. You wanted to rush in and hug him, but you were already in your costume. "Camilo, you made it!" You exclaim, holding his face in your hands once he was close enough to you. "Of course, I wouldn't want to miss this. Also, you look really handsome in that. Can I kiss you?" He grins at you when you lean in to press a small peck on his lips. "That's it?" He asks. "You'll get more after this, I promised. Now, go! I don't know how you got in backstage but my director would not be happy to see you here."
Camilo leaves, but not before blowing you a kiss. He shape shifts into one of the people backstage and successfully makes his way out.
Camilo's seat is located a few rows away from the front. It's not close enough for you to see him, but it's enough for him to get a clear view of your face.
A few more minutes flew by before the curtains draw open, it was finally starting. Camilo was trying to keep himself calm, he was just so happy and excited for you that he wanted to yell out to the whole world that he was yours. He watches as you recite your lines, so full emotion. You were an amazing actor. The expressions on your face, the way you move around as you sing... You were so captivating. It was no wonder they casted you as the main character, you moved so gracefully that he found himself unable to take his eyes off of you.
A woman in a white veil shows up and the two of you dance, holding each other close as she sings. Camilo felt... uneasy all of a sudden. Now don't get me wrong, her voice was beautiful, and he knows that it's all just acting, that you have to do this to make it look as realistic as possible. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little annoyed by how she's pressed up to you like that. He crosses his arms over his chest, brows furrowed.
As the song came to an end, the lady sings out one last line.
Then, you take off the veil, slowly leaning in and placing a quick kiss on her lips.
Camilo's eyes widened in surprise. You did tell him beforehand that this would happen, but he still felt upset over it. He sinks into his seat, grumpily watching the rest of the play.
You let out a sigh of relief, finally, you took off the outfit. It was really hot under all those layers of clothing. You bid goodbye to your fellow actors, your friends and they do the same, giving you a few praises for your amazing performance today.
Camilo immediately spots you the moment you step outside. He grabs your arm and drags you into an empty corner, looking around to make sure it's just the two of you there. "Mi amor, it's just acting." You say and he looks at you, surprised. "I haven't even said anything yet." Camilo grumbled.
"I'm sensing that you're jealous." Wow, spoken like a true empath. He doesn't respond, frowning at your words. "Camilo... I told you, haven't I? It's just acting. It's all staged, no real romantic feelings."
The boy still refuses to speak up.
"C'mon, don't be like that. You know I love you and only you, right? I'll sing you a song about how much you mean to me if you still aren't convinced."
Camilo sighs, "I know, sorry, I love you too. I don't know what came over me."
You chuckle softly, gently cupping his face. "It's alright, how about I make it up to you, hm? Let's get you home and we can cuddle in your room." His eyes light up at that, "Do I get kisses as well?" Camilo asks, the frown on his face turning upside down.
"You'll get them as much as you want."

Pure fluff ❤️
"Where are you going, mi vida?"
"I've got to go grab something, I'll be back muy pronto, just wait here!"
The curly haired boy pouted. He just got here, and you were already leaving him?
"¡Amor! Already? Why can't I just go with you?"
"10 minutes. Alright? Then we can spend as long as you wish together, ok amorcito?" You slip your purse over your head, walking over to your bed, to plant a kiss onto his cheek.
"If I could I'd spend forever with you." He reached out while saying this, grabbing your hands, kissing one.
"Don't be so cheesy," you giggle "besides we'd grow tired of each other and bite one another's heads off. Now stop pouting, the more you hold on, the longer I'll take." You run your hand through his hair before turning around towards the door.
"¡Adios mi sol, volveré pronto!" You turn to shout before you step out into town.
"¡Adios, mi flor!" He yells back, collapsing onto your bed the second he hears the door slam shut.
After only a few minutes, he grows bored, and begins to look around your room.
Resisting the urge to meddle with things he gets ready to return to his spot on your bed, before something catches his eye.
Something the mischievous boy couldn't resist.
"¿Mi amor?" You say with a bag of goodies in your arms as you open the door, peaking your head in.
"¡Ay! ¡Cariño! You startled me!" You catch a glimpse of yourself when you turn to the voice, before your novio shifts back to himself.
Or well. Himself with makeup caked across his face.
Mascara was smeared on his eyes, along with eyeliner and eyeshadow.
His cheeks were bright red, almost as red as his lips. You couldn't tell the natural blush from the powder he'd peppered across his nose.
"¿Dios mío, Camilo, what have you done?" You gasp, trying to hold in a laugh, and carefully set down the basket.
"Lo siento mi vida, I was bored and saw your makeup, and wanted to try to make myself as bonito como tú-"
"Ay, mi amor you're gorgeous on your own."
"Sí, I know. And I'm gorgeous now too. Do you see how good my lipstick looks? Muy lindo." He says, looking into the mirror, then back at you only to burst into a laughing fit.
You join in, struggling to keep yourself upright over the laughter. He looked ridiculous.
"¡Sí, mi hombre guapo!" You shout, kissing his nose. "And the colors make your eyes pop in such a way I've never noticed!" You jokingly add.
"Yes, they really compliment my natural tones! Wait... what's in that basket?" He says, finally noticing the small basket you brought in, sitting by your door. He sniffs the air, and a huge smile grows across his face.
The reason you'd gone out the second he arrived. The basket with pan très leches, and empanadas. You'd planned to get him some treats, in response to him spoiling you over the span of your relationship. you felt the need to do something extra sweet for your amor.
"Did you think I went out for nothing?"
"No, you clearly went out so I'd have time to do my face." As he says this, he flaunts his messy attempt at makeup once again. "How sweet of you!"
"No, tonto. It's something special I've prepared for you. " You say, heading back to the basket of delicious wonders. You begin to pull them out to show off.
"Are you an Angel?" He says, swooning over you. Or very possibly the food.
Originally you had planned a picnic a little outside of town for you both to go and spend the rest of the day, and enjoy the stars later on. However these plans quickly changed.
You set out the food you'd brought onto a blanket on the floor.
You guys sat, talking and laughing, eating the delicious food.
Once finished, you help Camilo clean up, gently whipping the mess off his face. Then you teach him how to properly apply make-up. He giggles a little Everytime you brush his face, tickling him. And when you push his hair out of his eyes? He practically melts into your hand. He even grabs and kisses it here and there when it's free.
Being so near to you filled him with warmth, which left him sighing every so often, or staring into those beautiful ojos of yours.
Finally, as the sun is setting, you head out into town, hand in hand, walking and giggling.
Randomly, he'd pull you close, and you'd hold tight, taking in his warmth. To follow he'd whisper something sweet into your ear, and you'd whisper right back.
Though things hadn't gone as planned it truly was una noche perfecta.

As you were walking towards Casita, you thought about how fun it would be to make bracelets with Camilo. You and your boyfriend loved to try new things like crochet, sewing, cooking, baking, and more. Today, you decided you wanted to try and make bracelets with him. The sun was shining bright that day and made your beautiful brown skin glow.
You reach the front door of the magical house, admiring the beautiful house. You knock on the door with one hand and a bag full of supplies in the other. As expected, Camilo opens the door, immediately kissing your brown cheek and engulfing you into a hug.
“I missed you so muchh” he says, pulling you into the house and up into his room. “We saw each other yesterday goofy” you giggle, taking out all the supplies you guys needed. “Well it feels like forever. We’re making bracelets today?” he grins while eyeing the supplies. “Yup, I thought it would be cute if we made each other bracelets!” You exclaim, taking out two strings and giving one to him.
You lay out the beads and open them. “Let’s see who can make the most bracelets” you give him a smug smile and he smiles back widely. “I’m totally gonna win.” Once you two started making the bracelets, it seemed like time went by fast. By the time you two were done, both of your wrists were covered in colorful bracelets. “I WON!” you yelled, throwing your fists into the air.
“Only cus I let you, love” he says, pulling you closer to him and kissing your lips softly. “Today was fun, we should make bracelets more.” You mumble softly as you let him cuddle you and play with your hands. He caresses your cheek and smiles softly. “You looked so beautiful today. I love you y/n” he mutters, his face turning red.

DNI if you are 18+!!!
summary: camilo always finds a way to make you smile or laugh, but as he kept doing it you become increasingly curious as to what his reasoning is behind it.
Camilo had always made it his mission everyday to make you smile. Whether he was calling you the nicknames that make you flustered, or telling you cheesy jokes until you laughed.
This all had really begun when the two of you had started to become friends.
He could care less about how embarrassing it could be; if he was the reason he had made you smile then his whole day would be made no matter how cliché it may sound.
You had never really read into it all that much, seeing that he always found a way to make the town happy. But it wasn’t until the two of you had gotten closer did you begin to notice it a lot more, always managing to find you during the day.
It had taken some time, but eventually you had caught onto what he was doing and there were times where you had ignored the jokes he would say to make it harder for him, knowing what he was doing, but somehow a smile always ended up on your face in the end.
Even if he did notice that you had caught onto what he was doing, that did not slow him down.
You had tried to come up with reasons why he would do it, but none of them ever stuck. Though every time you had asked him why he set out to do that, he just shrugged, gave you a smug smile, and walked away.
It had been like that for weeks, but today you were more determined to figure it out, and now felt like the perfect opportunity to ask as you sat in his room.
Waiting a few moments, you look at the floor before you rush out what has been on your mind for a long time. “Why do you do it?”
Looking over at you, Camilo scrunched his brows in confusion for a second. “Do what?”
“At the most random times during the day you’ll come up to me and tell me something or do something that’ll always make me smile. Why? Why do you do it?” You elaborated, propping your head up on your hands as you waited for him to answer.
He never did answer. Instead he gave you a small shrug with a smile, a reply that should’ve been expected.
But just because he brushed it off did not mean you were going to let it go.
Camilo had once again found you around town and walked beside you until he achieved what he always set out to do.
Then when he had done so, before he could do anything else you quickly asked him the same question you had asked him yesterday.
Why do you do it?
“This time,” you continued crossing your arms over your chest, “I want an actual answer.”
“Why does it matter?” Camilo asked, curious as to why you want to know his reasoning.
You ran your hand through your hair. “Because this has been something that you’ve been doing even before we got close. So I’m very interested as to why you do this.” You explain before pointing an accusing finger at him. “And if you just shrug and walk away I will not hesitate to—”
Throwing his hands up in surrender he gives you a grin. “Okay, I get it.” He told you dropping his hands. “Do you really want to know that badly?”
You give him a blank look. “It’s not like I’ve been trying to get an answer out of you for the past couple weeks.”
“Punto tomado,” he said before glancing around as if thinking of his answer before looking back at you. “I just like being the one who is able to make you smile in a day.” He explained simply.
Though, the simplicity of his statement had shocked you, brows shooting up in surprise you turn to give him a smug grin. “Careful, Madrigal, or else it’ll seem like you have enamorado de mí.” You teased and he rolled his eyes playfully.
“Maybe I do,” Camilo shrugged, and your face went from one of being smug to shocked.
You fumbled for a response, having no clue what to say, and Camilo laughed at your flustered appearance before he began to walk away.
“See you around, mi amor.” He waved, while you still stood awkwardly in your position, still reading into the words he had previously said.
But besides all that he had made you smile once again from those words.

Camilo had been looking for Y/N all morning, which was proving itself difficult to do. Every time he caught sight of her figure and called out to her, she would quickly run away to leave. He was sure he had run across the entire village at least three times, and he was so overwhelmed, bad thoughts invading his mind, especially after he brought up the one thing he’d never want to happen to the both of them.
“Y/N! Please just talk to me! Wait!” Camilo heaved, close to tears, as he started to run after the girl. He quickly shapeshifted into someone taller and grabbed her waist tightly, finally turning her around to face him. She kept her eyes down, glaring at her shoes.
After he was sure she wouldn’t run away, he let go of her and raised his hand to caress her face-only for her to instinctively flinch away. Camilo swore he felt his heart shatter into pieces. An uncomfortable silence followed, lasting for a good 5 minutes. Camilo eventually broke it, slowly stepping closer to her.
“Amor, you know I would never raise a hand against you.” Camilo painfully shut his eyes, voice low. He opened them up again to glance at her. He held his arms open as an invitation to hug him if she wanted to. Y/N stepped forward and buried herself in his embrace, melting at the familiar warmth and smell of his cologne.
“There you are hermosa...” Camilo’s arms drop down to her waist, pulling her tightly against him. Y/N was hovering a few inches above the ground as Camilo had his arms wrapped around her torso so he could securely hold them. She hid her face in the crook of his neck, hands gripping his ruana tightly. Camilo leaned his head against hers, whispering sweet nothings into her ear.
“We can take slow yes? We’ll get past this together...right?” Camilo murmured softly, a hint of uncertainty in his voice. Y/N closes her eyes and cradles his head, her fingers raking through his curls. Camilo pressed his lips against her temple, keeping it there. He hummed a soft tune underneath his breath as he swayed the both of them.
“Si, we will. I don’t…I’m sorry. I don’t want to leave you.” Camilo planted a small kiss on her cheek, still swaying. She closed her eyes and took a few deep breathes, holding him closer. The couple held each other tightly, softly swaying together in a makeshift-slow dance.
“Can you carry me home, I’m tired from all that running.” Y/N muttered jokingly, tracing circles on the Afro-Latino boy’s back. Camilo breathed out a laugh, the mood around them lightening up. He hooked his arms underneath her knees and firmly held her in his grip.
“Of course, anything for you mi vida.” His voice was genuine as he stared down at her, adoration swimming in his eyes. He leans down to give her a gentle kiss on the lips, smiling when he felt her kiss back. Y/N gripped his collar tightly as her heart sped up at the smallest show of affection. Damn this boy and his charisma.
The walk back to casita was silent, the couple just wanting to enjoy each other’s presence. There was an unspoken change between them ever since that argument, Camilo was terrified it would tear the two of them apart but it only seemed to make them stronger.
He had been more attentive to her emotions ever since that day. He had not realized that his ignorance of her emotions had led her to think that he did not care for her. He ran to Felix for advice, notebook in hand as he took note of every word. He didn't need it to be honest, he's practically engraved his father's advice into his brain at this point.
Nowadays, instead of telling her to think positive all the time, he would sit down and let her vent- if she didn’t want to talk then he would just pull her in his arms so she could cry it all out while he whispered comforting words to he. He knew he wasn't perfect but he'd be damned if he didn't try his hardest to make her feel better.
"Here you are amor." Camilo wiped the tears building up in her eyes away, placing a warm cup of tea in her shaking hands. She smiled up at him thankfully, leaning up to press a kiss against his jaw. Camilo grinned and dragged her into his arms, careful not to spill the hot drink. The two of them were cuddled up on his bed as Y/N had a particularly hard day today.
'What is wrong with you?!" Camilo glared at the girl who pushed Y/N into a puddle of mud. He got on his knees as he helped his lover up. She felt tears well up in her eyes as she slowly stood, feeling guilty seeing that the yellow dress that Camilo bought for her was now ruined.
"Oh please- she tripped! It wasn't my fault!" The village girl argued, Camilo just rolled his eyes and focused all his attention on Y/N. Frowning, he noticed tears building up in her eyes. He brushed them away and pressed two quick kisses on her cheeks.
"Cami, I'm so sorry- the dress is ruined-" She stressed, holding the damp skirt in her hands.
"It's ok, we can get this cleaned up. Are you ok?" He soothingly rubbed her shoulders, shielding her from the curious glances of the people around them.
"Yes, but can we go home?"
"Of course mi vida, c'mon let's go." He threw his arms over her shoulder, his other hand gently caressing her own. Before leaving, he turned behind him and pointed to the village girl once again.
"YOU'RE CRAZY WOMAN!" Camilo shouted, glaring once more before running away with Y/N-snickering to himself.
"CRAZY?!" The girl raged, face turning into a fiery color of red.
"I-Camilo. You didn't have to call her crazy you know.." Camilo snorted and just smirked, leaning his head against her own.
"She was loco, amor. I don't get why she's so mean to you, you didn't do anything."
"Thank you, 'Milo." She sniffled and took small sips of the drink, enjoying the feeling of his warm embrace. Her boyfriend just nodded his head, softly caressing her sides as he whispered comforting words to her.
The shapeshifter started to notice the smile that slowly spread to her lips as she listened to his whispers. It made his heart swell and in turn, also made him smile.
"I'm here for you, mi vida."
This camilo fever ain't coming down😩💘
a camilo madrigal x fem!reader fanfic [chapter3]
You shifted your weight from one side to another. Sitting on the cart and watching the passing landscape. You were only a few minutes away from your destination. Your heart did nearly explode in your chest. You sensed a hand on your shoulder, “See these mountains over there.”, your dad pointed towards a huge wall in front of you. “Right behind them…” – “Encanto.”, you completed his thought with a sparkle in your eyes. Your dad just nodded with a smile. The last days were full of bugging your dad and Jean about the old times. You couldn’t wait no longer. You needed to see this town yourself. You wanted to meet your abuela. You were so desperate. The way went by faster than expected. It took you only two and half day to arrive and now you were so damn close. You would rather start running to this place now then waiting any longer, but you needed to be a bit more patient. Just a little while longer.
After what felt like forever you finally arrived at a bigger court where you would stay the next time. Actually, you didn’t know how long you would stay in Encanto, but you were grateful for every second you could be here. The court was a bit outside from the town itself. So that there would be enough space for every cart, wagon, and the tents. Today you wouldn’t start with the set up of the big tent. You would just make some space that everyone would be able to catch enough sleep, so that the preparations could start tomorrow. As everyone started to make them comfortable, you were just standing there. Your eyes locked onto the path into the town. You could see the first houses at the end of the street. It was still early; the sun hadn’t begun to set. You would totally be able to visit some places before helping with the dinner. “Excited?”, an old voice appeared next to you. You couldn’t really answer but nodded. The urge to just run towards the town grew bigger and bigger. Even if you would stay here to help, you wouldn’t be able to focus properly. Your thoughts were all down this road. “I think we wouldn’t mind if you would go check the market out. Maybe buy some ingredients for dinner, you know.”, your head snapped towards the old man. A smile growing up onto your face. “Está seguro?”, you looked at Jean, and he nodded with a teasing grin. Your smile dropped a bit, brows furrowed at him. “What you want in return?”, you crossed your arms. Of course, you wouldn’t ask a second time for a permission to leave, but you knew him to well. After all he raised you just the same as your father did. “Maybe take the younglings with you? They need some distraction from the journey and for real, we need to restock some stuff.”, he smiled at you bright, and you couldn’t suppress a chuckle. “Yeah, of course, but then I’ll also take Bee with me.” You held your hand out and he took it to shake it. “Deal.”
Berthold was just placing a box from your cart down, while you jumped on it. Facing him with way to less space between your faces. “Damn, corazón.”, he stumbled back while he grabbed his chest, “I nearly got a heart attack.” – “Perdón.”, you smiled bright at him, sitting down on the box. He cupped your face. “What do you want y/n?” – “Jean asked if we could go buy some stuff for dinner. Also, we shall take the kids for a walk. So, you’re in?” – “I think I have better things to do.”, you started pouting while he still held your cheeks in his hand. He had quite big hands, but those were the hands who always saved you from falling. Either in the arena or just in daily life. “Please, cariño. Pleeaaseee.”, you gave him the sweetest gaze you could at this moment. “Ugh fine.”, he let out a sigh and before he could react you jumped off the box and hugged the boy. “Brats with me!”, you screamed and six children in the age between five and seven appeared in your sight. Two girls and four boys saluted in front of you. “I already hate myself for saying yes.”, Bee rubbed over his brows. You picked the youngest girl, Emilia, up to carry her, while the others followed you and the dark-haired boy into the city.
Your hands got sweatier as closer you came to the entrence. You could have sworn that everyone would hear your heartbeat at this point. You felt a huge weight onto your chest, and you just couldn’t hold on anymore. You gave the little girl to your friend as you entered the town and a shiver run down your spine. “Y/n? Are you okay?”, Bee caressed your back with his free hand. This damn concern in his voice, but you couldn’t blame him. Actually, you felt stressed. You couldn’t say if all this was just overwhelming or pure happiness or even kinda anxiety. Still, you didn’t want him or the children to worry about you. That’s why you just smiled at him, “Everything is fine. Mind if I take a look around?”
“So, you’re going to enjoy the Encanto and I’m here babysitting and grocery shopping? For real?”, he gave you a playful pout, before slapping carefully onto your back. You stumbled a bit forward. You smiled at each other. “Just don’t get lost, okay? We meet at the market then, that you will at least help carrying the stuff.” – “Thanks Bee. I'll make this up to you!”, you shouted while your feet already dragged you through the town. You left the group behind you. You didn’t even know where you wanted to go, but you had to explore a whole town. Where to start first? The marketplace? The little alleys with those charming stalls. Your emotions were boiling over. After nearly seventeen years you finally walked through the town your mum called her home.
Right, your mum. You suddenly stopped your movements. Your view got slightly blurry. You starred just straight in front of you. Slowly moving backwards into a smaller alley, trying to gain some hold at a wall. This was the town you should have grown up in. This is the town where you parents and you should have lived happily together. Your eyes started to water up. This was definitely too much for you. Maybe you should have waited a bit longer. Maybe you should have stayed with Bee. You weren’t ready for this. With one hand you pulled the hood of the blue ruana over your head to isolate yourself a bit. With the other you grabbed onto your shoulder. First you needed to calm your breathing. Yeah, it totally was a bad idea to leave the others.
You weren’t the only one who decided to go on a walk alone. On the other side of the marketplace was a little girl crying and screaming for her sister until an older guy patted her head. “What’s wrong pequeña?”, the girl stopped crying and looked at the man with longer dark hair. “I need my hermana…”, she just said while clinging on his green ruana. He then picked her up. “So maybe you should tell me your name and then I’m going to help find her.”, he said while poking her nose. “I’m Emilia.”, the little girl chuckled. “That’s a wonderful name for such a wonderful young señorita. I am Bruno and that is my friend Piek.”, he pointed on a white rat on his other shoulder. The girl started laughing and so both started looking for you. While also Bee and the others were searching for Emilia and you with worry in the back of their heads.
You didn’t know how much time has passed, also you didn’t know where you were anymore. Suddenly something or better someone brought your back to reality. Before realizing what really happened you found yourself on the ground again and your butt started to hurt. “Are you okay?”, a really calming voice caught your attention and so you looked up. You were greeted with one of the most endearing gazes you ever saw. A pair of emerald eyes staring into yours. Wait, why did he stared at you? He leant onto his thighs and closed his mouth to a soft smile. You pulled the hood of your ruana down and rubbed your eyes. They burnt. Did you cry? “Hey, I asked you something.”, his voice was so calm and still demanding. Well, you needed to answer. “Yeah. I’m fine.”, you couldn’t look up at him. You know that he wouldn’t believe you. You looked exhausted, at least you felt this way. You felt like you were passed out for a while. Did your feet carried you around without even relaizing? You looked up to the sky and noticed that it must got quite late. The sky already turned yellow. “Are you sure?”, what was this thing that you couldn’t look at him. He followed your look up and looked back at you. “You seem kinda lost.”, he added with a chuckle. “I guess, I am lost.”, you answered with way more calm voice then you wanted, not averting your glance from the sky. “Well, good that you bumped into me.”, he grinned, “I can help you out. I know this place like nobody else.” You now looked back at him. His eyes meeting yours for a few seconds before you looked away again. Heat was carrying up to your cheeks. Embarrassment? You could have sworn that he stared again. Did you looked so wasted? Well, you were still siting on the ground like a lost child. “It would be great...” before you could accept his offer a familiar voice echoed through the alley. “Y/N!”, you turned your head and noticed Daniel, one of the older boys, waving from the other side of the alley. Your face light up and your body somehow relaxed. You needed to shove your own needs behind, you couldn’t show you weakness in front of the children. You laid yourself flat to the ground, which earned and confused look from the boy in front of you.
Before he could say something, you swung your legs to the sky to lunge out, so that you would land onto your feet in the next seconds. All the worries from before were gone and your lips curling up in playful smile. You quickly needed to change your mood. “Thanks anyways.”, you told him while turning on your heels. The boy you left behind could only stare in disbelief and somehow curiosity after you, while your figure got smaller and smaller. Till you disappeared around the next corner together with the boy.
“Primo?”, this time someone snapped him out of his thoughts. Camilo didn’t face his cousin, he still stared down the path you took. “Yeah…”, still confused from the present events. “Who was this?”, Mirabel asked while standing next to him. “Y/n.”, he answered without paying much attention to her. “Who is she?” – “I don’t know… but I kinda want to know…” Mirabel raised a brow, but before she could question the boy, he said something nearly voiceless. She wasn’t even sure if Dolores could have heard him. “Her eyes were breathtaking.”, Mirabel needed to listen really closely and as she thought she understood him, her own eyes widened. “Wait, can you repeat that?”, she said with a teasing tone, bumping her shoulder against his. This brought him back to earth. He scratched his neck with a nervous smile. “I just said…Wait didn’t you want to meet with tio?” – “Dios mio. I totally forgot. Don’t think your off the hook Camilo. We will talk about this later!”, she said while running into the other direction. So, the boy was left alone again.
Indeed, he meant what he said before. Your senses were too over flood that you could realize, but he really did stare. He stared into your eyes. Never ever did Camilo Madrigal saw a person with two different eye colors. Not only two different ones, but a pair so beautiful, that he for a moment forget to breath. However, the thing that bugged him more was that those pretty eyes were puffy and swollen. He wanted to know what hurt you. He wanted to help you. He could always make everyone smile. So why didn’t you smile because of him. He didn’t try hard enough he thought. No, you started smiling after that child appeared. He didn’t even know why, but he wanted to be the reason that you smiled. He wanted to see those eyes light up again. With an odd feeling he went back home to eat dinner with his family, but maybe, maybe he wasn’t really hungry today. Maybe he just couldn’t stop thinking about those eyes he never met before.
On the other side of the road you threw your arm around Bee who was waiting annoyed at the place Daniel led you to. Firstly, he didn’t respond to the hug, but he couldn’t resist long before embracing you. “I hate you.”, you just shoved your head deeper into his chest. “We still need to find Emilia.”, Daniel said. You suddenly let go from your friend and faced the boy. “What do you mean?” – “After you didn’t come to the settled spot, she started running away to look after you. The others are still looking for her.” – “Actually, we hoped she would be by your side.” Your heart sunk to the bottom of your stomach. It was your fault. Everything today was your fault. Why have you been so selfish? The other children returning also without her to the place you were standing.
“Hermanaaa.”, the joyful voice caught your attention just as you wanted to drown in your thoughts again. The man put her down and she started running towards you. He followed the girl. You fell onto your knees pulling her into a tight hug. “Emilia. Please, you can’t just run away. You need to stay with Bee.”, said boy flicked against the back of your head. “You can advise me later, okay?”, you said while cuddling the little girl in front of you. That was such a relief. “Promise me to never run away again.”, you said in a worried tone while letting go of her. She just nodded energetic. You then looked up to the man standing a bit awkwardly in front of your group. “Thank you, señor…uhm.” – “Just Bruno.”, he said while rubbing his arm. “That somehow sounds wrong to me.” - “You can call me tio Bruno if you want.”, he chuckled. “Alright tio Bruno. Thanks for taking care of her.” – “Actually, that was a joke.” You started laughing together with the girl. “Well, too late, I guess. I’m y/n. Nice to meet you.”, you reached out to his hand. He just laughed a bit. His eyes looked really concentrated into yours while shaking hands. “Do I know you from somewhere?” – “I don’t think so.” – “No for real. I swear I have seen you before.” – “Maybe you mistake me for someone else.” – “Maybe.”, he let go of your hand but still looked with a tight focus at your figure.
“I really don’t want to interrupt your bonding. But the folks will get angry, if we need any longer.”, Bee came to pick up Emilia and gave Bruno a grateful smile. “I don’t want to stop you from anything.” – “Hopefully see you soon tio Bruno.”, you smiled playful while joining the others on their way to your place again. Bruno waved after you before he turned away to go meet with Mirabel. Still thinking about where he did see your face before. Why did you seemed so familiar?
“You wanna tell me why you cried?”, Bee whispered to you while walking home. The children walking a bit in front of them carrying some bags while singing a little song. You played with the hem of your ruana. (Or better said your dads.) “C’mon. I see that you went through something back there.”, he took your hand into his. “I guess I had a panic attack.”, you simply said. Before your friend could answer Emilia turned her heads towards you. “One deep breath in.”, she simply said, and you responded with “One deep breath out.” A little smile grew onto your faces. The first day in Encanto wasn’t like you imagined, but everything was just fine. You wanted to believe this. At this point, you just wanted to hide under your blankets and catch a handful of a good sleep.

Waking Up Next to You
Camilo Madrigal x gn!Reader
Contains: Too much fluffy stuff ♡
Sypnosis: you wake up in the middle of the night, realizing you're in your boyfriend's room. How'd you get here?
Kat: I hope I did Camilo justice here, literally hate how i'm hesitant to use any spanish words even though i'm filipino 😭
Slowly opening your eyes, wait– this isn't your room. The light sound of snoring beside you led you to realize your boyfriend is right beside you. And you're in his room. Camilo's room.
Not really thinking about how you got here, you start to play with the curly little locks in his hair to pass the time. He sighs and leans into you, pretty much loving what you're doing.
You start to remember the reason why he brought you here was probably because you fell asleep during the little picnic you two were having during the day.
But as you were looking back about it, you realise, you never told your parents you were sleeping over.
It wasn't like you were planning to, yet it happened anyway.
Quietly repeating his name over and over, you try to wake up the brunette who lays beside you.
"Mi amor... Camilo... Camilo wake up." Tapping his cheek, he finally wakes, looking up at you in a daze.
"Why are you up? It's late." He grumbles, not really liking that fact that he got woken up.
"I have to go home, I didn't tell my parents I was sleeping over." Frowning at him to hurry up, pretty anxious about the fact that your mother is probably worried sick.
"Relax, relax, they know, I told them you were alseep in my room and they told me to not wake you up and to just let you sleep." Rubbing an eye as he gestures you to come back to bed.
"Come on, go back to sleep corazón." Quickly wrapping his arms around you as you nod wordlessly and nestle back into him and his comfortable bed.
Soft little moments like these make you wonder how you ended up with such a troublesome sweetheart like him.
It's not even half of the Camilo requests I have !!!!!
Good god are you guys gonna get fed
Hihi!!! Can I request Camilo x reader where reader is touched starve but afraid to ask Camilo like hugs and holding hands? ALSO ALSO HAVE A GREAT DAY/NIGHT/AFTERNOON
Pairing(s): Camilo Madrigal x reader
Warnings: maybe a little angst, touch starvation and anxiety, small injury
A/N: You didn't specify anything about the gender so I made it neutral. I hope it's what you had in mind <3
His hand was right there, you could easily grab it and appease the cold trembling on your own, but his whole family was right there, they would see if you did, what if he got embarrassed and let it go?
You two had been dating for a few weeks already and it had quickly became a routine for you to have breakfast with the Madrigals and then shadow Camilo most of the day, but as comfortable as you had grown around each other, you still couldn't work up the courage to express your affection to him the way you so badly wanted to.
Maybe it was fear of appearing clingy, or maybe it was simply something you weren't used to. Hugs, kisses or anything of the sort weren't common around your house, they were limited to congratulations given on birthdays or other celebrations on the most awkward way.
For Camilo those actions came so easily, he could cradle your face and graze your fingers without getting dizzy in over thoughts. He was so natural with it and yet you so desperately wanted more.
"Amor," Camilo called, pulling you out of your thoughts by putting his hand on your shoulder. Everyone was standing up from the table, "we have to go."
You nodded, leaving your napkin back on the table and trying not to think of the warmth that irradiated from his hand. He walked to the village with you trailing behind, your eyes once again set on his hand that moved back and forward.
It wasn't always like that, you weren't constantly craving for his touch like you were that day, most of the time you were perfectly content just having him close, but sometimes you woke up with an insatiable thirst for those moments when he layed sprawled on the grass and pulled you on top of him to cuddle. Those moments you weren't brave enough to ask for.
Submerged in a comfortable silence, you two made your way to the Gonzalez' house, a young couple who had recently had a baby and were completely exhausted, as it often happens with first time parents. Luckily for them, Camilo and you were the two most reliable babysitters in Encanto and you had no issue with having the baby for a couple hours so they could have some rest.
With a blanket, you secured the baby to Camilo's chest, making sure she was comfortable and protected from the sun, and tried not to blush at the way he gazed upon you as you did.
He liked looking at you, he wasn't too shy to admit it, he liked the frown on your face when you were focused and your expression when you were lost in thought. He knew the exact number of freckles on your face and the particular curl of your eyelashes, he knew where to find the tiny scar on your eyebrow from when you were little and had memorized the shape of your Cupid's bow. God, you were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
Slowly, almost timidly, he brought a hand up to your face and moved a strand of hair out of your forehead. That's exactly what you meant, his caresses were so effortless and yet they made all the air escape from your lungs. Camilo never said it out loud, fearing that it would make you stop, but he adored the way you leaned into his touch.
Contraire to your nervous assumptions, he loved touching you, everything from grazing your hand when he walked beside you to cuddling with you at night before you went home, he lived for every hug, every kiss, every waking moment when he could hold your hand.
What troubled his mind was the thought that you didn't like to be touched, or maybe not as much as he wanted to do it. You never seemed to respond badly to his caresses, but you never initiated those moments and honestly he preferred to control his urges than to accidentally trespass your personal space.
Once the baby was settled against Camilo, you both started to go wherever he was needed. Most days went by like that, you two babysitting one or two kids together while you trailed behind him to wherever he needed to go and tried to make yourself useful.
"I think she's hungry," you said when the baby started crying, growing more loud by the second despite of Camilo's coos.
"Maybe she's sick of being around you," he suggested mockingly.
"Oh, she's tied to your chest, but she's sick of being around me," you responded in the same tone.
"You're right," he nodded while still rocking the baby, "she's tired of me, so you should carry her instead."
"You could've just said you were tired, lazy," you mocked while, carefully, removing the baby from the blanket around your boyfriend, shyly grazing his chest in the process.
The baby kept crying as you walked back to casa Madrigal to make her a bottle, while you gently rocked her trying to sooth her in the meantime. Camilo stared at you the whole way, making sure you didn't trip over anything, that the sun didn't sting on your eyes.
Once in the kitchen, you both settled the baby on the dinner table, on top of the blanket and Camilo's ruana. He entertained her while you warmed the milk and the bottle, trying not to get distracted by the way Camilo talked to the baby and she somehow responded in gibberish baby talk.
But your efforts were unsuccessful.
You looked at him tickle the baby's tummy as you blindly reached out to grab the pot, placing your hand right on the hot metal instead of the handle, "ah!" You cried out, making Camilo turn into you in the initial shock and then jumping towards you.
"What happened? Let me see."
You pulled your red hand out of his reach, hiding the painful grimace on your face and the tears welling up in your eyes.
You held your hand close to your chest, it wasn't your intention to push Camilo away but your first instinct was to stop his comforting of your injury.
"Y/N, amor..." he called again, placing a hand on your arm.
"Leave me alone, Camilo!"
He stood silent for a good second, even the baby had stopped wailing for a moment. You had your back turned against him, with anger tears coming down your cheeks quietly and he feared he had broken the rule he had set himself when it came to touching you.
Still, he knew you well enough to know it wasn't him you were mad at for having gotten hurt, but at yourself, so he decided not to surpass your boundaries anymore. Instead, he filled a bowl with cold water for you to submerge your hand into, which you did without complaining.
It was a long while until he worked up the courage to approach you again, after he fed the baby and put her down to sleep in the same place on the table. This time you didn't squirm away from his touch when he grabbed your arm to have you turn around in his direction.
You avoided his eyes, but they were too busy inspecting the burn. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad, the cold water had done wonders to it. He looked into your face, the tear stained cheeks and the obvious pain you had suffered, and decided to taunt his fate once more.
Softly, he brought your hand up to his lips, placing a kiss on the inside of your wrist. Once he felt you leaning into it, the way he loved so much, he traveled his kisses up to your face. He erased the path of your tears with his lips, making your breath hitch.
Camilo wrapped an arm around you, embracing you softly, and you happily melted into him, hiding your face in his chest as you whimpered softly and the tears came back to your eyes. Upon seeing your reaction, he wondered if maybe you liked his touch more than you let on, so he simply held you against him for as long as you allowed him to.
"Can we do this more often?" You were brave enough to ask, referring to the hug and the kisses.
Camilo smiled, for your question was an answer to his prayers.
"Yes, mi vida."
Two by Two
Being Camilo’s twin wasn’t easy when you think your gift wasn’t as ‘flashy’ or as happiness-inducing like your brother’s. As Casita breaks down maybe your power could be finally of good use.
masterlist !! two by two headcanons
Platonic! Twin! Camilo x Twin! Reader
What’s worse than one Camilo Madrigal? Two Camilo Madrigals. Well, not exactly but you might as well be. Born a few minutes after Camilo was born, you were twins with the one and only troublemaker shapeshifter of the Madrigal Family. Though you can say you aren’t as bad as your older brother. Sure you would play meaningless pranks here and there but you were surprisingly more tame than he was, acting like another much more mischievous Isabela in your Abuela’s words.
While your brother had the ability to shapeshift into different people, you had the ability to shapeshift into different animals. Safe to say the first few months of having your miracles, Encanto experienced frequent thunderstorms and rainfall. The two of you were almost the same except however for your personalities. Yet you two would insist you were identical, often wearing matching ruanas as well as matching slippers so that you two wouldn't be told apart. You were proud to have him as your big brother and had loved him so.
Although you would be a bit envious of Camilo. Turning into different animals weren’t as flashy and people pleasing as Camilo’s. Though you tried to hide the fact that you felt that way.
One would think the two of you wouldn’t be as close but you would be surprised. Camilo adored you, you were his twin, you two shared the same womb, it was natural for him to be overprotective. He’d frequently tell you that you two would stick with one another no matter what.
You can always remember the times when you two were younger, whenever you’re upset he would always be sure to defend you. Sure you’d sometimes get into little arguments and tussles but it wouldn’t even last long. He would always be the first one to cave in and apologize. Although the two of you were almost the same, you were more sensitive than he was, fighting would almost always end up with you crying and storming out of frustration.
“I’m your twin.” He would remind you with a smile that the two of you shared. “You’re my twin, we stick together through thick and thin.” Camilo would promise. No matter what you or him did, the two of you would always be stuck with one another.
Although following your little brother Antonio’s gift ceremony, as well as the declaration that cracks were showing in Casita as well as the candle flickering, the two of you had ended up at odds once more. You stood by Mirabel, believing in your cousin that the miracle was dying. After all, Mirabel wouldn’t lie about such a thing. You were sure of it.
You didn't expect to discover more of yourself now that Casita was allegedly breaking down. The insecurities that you had dug deep deep down to please your abuela Alma resurfaced after stumbling upon Mirabel, while coaxing her sister to give her a hug. You didn't anticipate joining Isabela on venting out what you had thought were your flaws and weaknesses.
You grimaced as you watched Abuela’s enraged outburst. Everything was a mess.
Your primas, Luisa could barely lift an empanada, and Isabela was out of control. Then again you might have also been a part of the little flower show that Isabela had done, causing imperfect but still beautiful flowers and plants to grow. Your abuela had almost always suggested turning into animals that were beautiful in her standards. An orchid mantis, a scarlet macaw, a multicolored tanager, a peacock or a flamingo.. those were what she deemed as beautiful. Never what you liked. She never asked what you would like to turn to. Her obsession with perfection extended to you in a way. It's always been just,
(Name) turn into this..
(Name) this would look beautiful..
Ay, (Name) that animal would do no good, it must be beautiful..
And you couldn’t help but resent how she doesn’t tell off Camilo to change into 'beautiful' and 'perfect' people. Camilo was free. Camilo was free to change to who he wants and he wouldn’t get scolded for changing into something your Abuela thought was dangerous and ugly. So when you finally had the chance to be free and wild? You took the opportunity.
You had run and danced alongside them, turning into different animals you had only heard of from books as Isabela bloomed stranger but equally beautiful flowers.
A lion, leopard, tiger, and a beautiful snake too.. all of it had frightened the villagers as you ran and ‘danced’ on the roofs of Casita with your cousins and it didn’t take long until your Abuela Alma to rush in Casita, shaking with fury. Caught up with the rush, you hadn’t even had time to change back from your form, a clouded leopard with Isabela’s colorful flower stains on your fur.
You looked down as your Abuela berated Mirabel. Lips parting as she spoke to Mirabel with venom lacing her words. You tried to find the words to defend her. Still unchanging, your fur reflecting in the moonlight as you stood there beside Isabela.
“Look at our home! Look at your sister, your cousin..!” She says, appalled by your messy and wild form. At that you had slowly changed back, unable to meet your grandmother’s eyes.
“Please, just, Isabela and (Name) weren't happy.” Mirabel tries to explain as your cousin had started to pat down the colorful mess on her dress before turning to you to gently wipe the color off your face. Both of you shifting in place nervously.
“Of course they’re unhappy! You ruined her proposal and (Name), Mirabel, you managed to rope in your prima too?”
It was a back and forth before your grandmother’s voice had shakily escaped her lips.
“The cracks started with you.” Your abuela took a step forward. “Bruno left because of you.”
“Luisa’s losing her powers! Isabela’s out of control and (Name) has gone wild because of you!” You could see Mirabel's expression and you wanted nothing more but to come to her rescue.
“I don’t know why you weren’t given a gift! But it is not an excuse for you to hurt this family!” The ground shook from underneath you, Casita’s tiles cracked as Mirabel lowered her gaze.
“I will.. never be good enough for you, will I?” Mirabel’s voice felt unsteady and you could see your Tia and Tio Julieta and Agustin behind your abuela, worry written in their features. “No matter how hard I try..” Her gaze trailed to her sisters and you.
“No matter how any of us tries. Luisa will never be strong enough, Isabela won’t be perfect enough, (Name) won’t be like Camilo, Bruno left our family because you only saw the worst in him!” Mirabel exclaims. You winced at her words, looking down at your feet. You won’t ever be like Camilo. You won’t please enough people, you won’t make others happy just like your hermano did. You refused to look at your parents eyes’, clearly showing that they didn’t know how hard you struggled to please everyone by limiting who you were.
You especially couldn’t look at Camilo who, thankfully, wasn’t in sight.
“Bruno didn’t care about this family!” The skies darkened and more cracks started to appear underneath your feet.
“He loves this family, I love this family, we all love this family, you’re the one that doesn’t care. You’re the one breaking our home..!” Mirabel continued, frustration written in her features.
“Don’t you ever..!” Your abuela had taken a step forward, her face contorting in anger. But Mirabel had stood her ground.
“The miracle is dying because of you!” Your abuela’s eyes widened and she had looked taken aback, the angry expression fading from her worn and old face.
And for a millisecond everything was silent until the ground split between the two of them. Your mami had gasped, hands raised as her eyes were focused on the candle. Mirabel and Abuela had looked towards where the candle was perched, gasping.
As the cracks worsened, it knocked the candle out of balance. Everyone braced themselves as the ground shook once more. Mirabel was the first to move, running towards the candle.
“Casita, get me up there!” Casita had broken one of the railings, turning it into a ladder she could climb up on. You caught a glimpse of Camilo’s figure who had looked at you briefly, lips pursed and an unreadable expression on his face. You watch him shift into different people, ducking and running to not save the candle but Mirabel.
Your cousin Isabela had grabbed a vine, swinging and attempting to help but as she did so, you caught sight of her door, flickering before slowly going out of light. Her powers went away too as she suddenly fell, and with the help of Casita had managed to get down safely.
Your brother Camilo was close, jumping to reach the roof in Jose’s form before he had turned back to himself again and you would have helped if it weren’t for Casita beating you to it. You quickly turned to Mirabel, turning into a cheetah and attempting to save her. Damn the miracle. Your cousin had helped you be more of yourself, and realize you didn’t have to worry about making people happy as long as you were happy. Your happiness came first and it took your prima to realize that.
You jumped and quickly maneuvered the debris that stood in your way, paws tapping against the cracked tiles that was pristine before. Seeing Antonio being carried away by your father, you had swiftly pushed and guided them to the way as more debris fell. You could see Mirabel reach the rooftop, and you struggled to climb up with her, running along the ladder Casita had placed down with all your might.
“Mirabel!” You could hear your Tia Julieta call out for your cousin, watching as the tiles created waves to push her back to the rest of the family.
“(Name)!” Your own mother’s voice had exclaimed, trying to reach out for you as well. “(Name)! Mirabel, leave it!”
As she struggled to reach the window, you had helped her out, letting her climb on your back, pushing her against the wall so she could have something to hold on as Casita’s roof tiles pushed her up even more. For some reason your door was still okay, still glowing despite the flickers. You can only hope you would have enough time to get the two of you out of there.
Your eyes widened as the largest tower of your home had slowly descended and you watched Mirabel as Casita caught her, creating a slide on the way down. You let out a frightened yowl as you were separated from her, your door finally flickering and going out as you shifted back to yourself, a large crash echoing as Casita came crashing down on the two of you.
Your family had quickly rushed in as the worst of the disaster had passed, dust and smoke wafting about.
“Mirabel!” Julieta’s cries filled the air with Pepa’s calling of your own. “(Name)!”
Your Abuela was settled down by Dolores, making sure the older woman was alright before she had joined the search for you. And she had sobbed, her gift being no more. Despite the times she wished her miracle was different or she hadn’t gotten a miracle at all, she wished her hearing had returned now so she could find you. She would take it all back, have her miracle enhanced to its maximum and she wouldn’t mind. If it meant hearing you again.
Camilo Madrigal had never been scared. He was supposed to be all smiles, so he could entertain, so he could make everyone happy. But as he saw you chase after Mirabel, dread pooled in his stomach.
His throat was sore as he called out your name along with your mami. No, no, he could lose his powers but not you. He didn’t even have the chance to say sorry yet. He didn’t know. If he had known what you had felt, what you had thought of yourself, he would’ve reassured you. He didn’t want another him, he only wanted one of you.
He was the first in the pile of debris, looking around for any sign of you.
“(Name), please, where are you!?” Dios, Dios, if he can hear Camilo’s prayers, please let him find you safe. “(Name), hija, where are you?!” Your mother and father had sobbed in worry.
You and Him. Him and You. Two by two, remember?
And Camilo had sobbed, desperation evident in his painful cries. The gravity of the situation weighing down on him. What if he never finds you? What if he was a twin no more? He’d give everything up just to know that you’re okay.
He was slowly losing all hope. There was no sign of you.
Memories of growing up with you had suddenly entered his mind and made him sob harder. The day of your fifth birthdays’ he had told you that he would use his powers just not to help the people of Encanto but to protect you, his baby sister. He promised to make you smile no matter what and protect that smile too. He promised that you would never be apart.
Once you had gotten lost whilst running wild in Encanto's forests in your many animal forms, exploring and not heeding any warnings or calls from your parents. As soon as Dolores had informed the rest of the family of your disappearance, he was already grabbing his ruana and a lamp. It didn't take long for him to find you, huddled inside a hollow tree, whimpering and calling out for him.
You were inconsolable, having been under the impression that you had been forgotten and abandoned. Camilo only shook his head and carried you on his back where you hugged his neck tight.
"No matter where you are, hermana, even if you were on the opposite side of the world, I'll always come and find you."
He had made you laugh, and had tried his hardest not to make you cry. He would tease you but you’d know he didn’t mean a word. He would give you seconds and when the two of you were caught, he would take the blame.
And he squeezed his eyes shut, tears continuing to roll down his freckles cheeks.
“Hermana, please..” He collapsed on his knees, hands trembling and all cut up as he had tried to dig through numerous piles of broken down walls and furniture. Antonio had curled up behind him, not wanting to believe that you were gone. Pepa and Felix had joined, pulling each other into a tight hug as Dolores stifled a sob.
“Cami..” A quiet voice had come out of nowhere and he swore he had never gotten up that fast. “(Name)?” He calls out. Was his mind deceiving him?
"Camilo," There it was again. Calling out to him and he whipped his head from side to side, looking for the source of the voice.
"(Name)! I hear you!" Dios, Dios, was it you? Were you okay? He begged to whomever was listening that it was you who he heard.
“Cami.. Mamí, Papí, Toñito..” Another call of his name and the rest of your families’ and he knew he wasn’t hallucinating anymore. “(Name)! Where are you, hermana!?” He was up on his feet, your own family following after him as hope swelled in their hearts.
A pile of furniture was situated deeper in the ruins of Casita and there you were, huddled up under the protection of the large dining room table as well as the large doors of your home. You coughed again, dust in your lungs as you breathed in.
Camilo was the first one to hold you, pulling you close and hugging you tightly as he sobbed against your hair. “Hermana,” You couldn’t look him in the eyes after what Mirabel had said but you allowed him to hold you. The next thing you knew you were both engulfed into a warm hug by your parents and Dolores who had sobbed as well, Antonio wiggling in between you and Camilo’s hug.
“I was afraid we lost you, (Name).” Pepa’s voice trembled as she gently cupped your dust covered cheek in her hands, wiping them away as tears rolled down her cheeks. She held you close, squeezing as if making sure that she wasn't dreaming. She gently held you in arm's length, looking over to make sure that you were okay.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Felix had gently held your shoulder and you looked down at the question as you felt Camilo’s gaze on you.
“I didn’t want.. I just wanted to make everyone happy like Camilo,” You admit. “But it’s hard with a miracle like mine.. or what once was mine. I thought if I just kept quiet, I’ll slowly love who I am and what I'm meant to be. I thought I’d be satisfied with just being.. I just wanted to make you happy.” You trailed off as you hiccupped.
“Lo siento, mamí, papí..” Pepa and Felix looked at one another before shaking their heads. “Ay, mija.. whatever makes you happy, makes us happy. Your happiness comes first and foremost. Whatever you wish to do, we will be right behind you.”
Camilo sighed softly as he gently pats your head. “You don’t need to make everyone happy, hermana. I don’t want you to be like me. I like you the way you are. I like (Name) Madrigal, my twin sister.” He says seriously.
“And besides, you think the town could take another me? We might as well be shooed out of Encanto.”
You stifled a laugh, your cries ceasing as you smiled and Camilo had mirrored your own. “See?” He ruffles your hair and your would tilt your head curiously, wondering what he had meant.
“I told you, I’ll always find you."

summary: you like to watch from afar the madrigal family, quietly observing their magical nature as they bring life into your tiny village. unbeknownst to you, a certain madrigal noticed you, too.
"Do you understand?"
You bit your bottom lip, looking away from the scene as you glanced to your friend, nodding uncertainly as you phased out what she was saying.
Amongst all the bright colors you were surrounded with, all the different forms of magic that you had grown up with, a certain boy always seemed to catch your attention.
"He's an entertainer, Y/n," Lila said, her eyes trailing to where your gaze was trained, realizing that you were lost in thought as she commented.
Your brows furrowed, looking at her as you rubbed a hand over your tried eyes, the bag you were carrying in your hands growing heavier the more you waited to put it down.
"He seems sweet," You tried, giving her an uncertain smile as she rolled her eyes, forcefully moving you away.
"He's no good, chica, especially not for you." And Lila left no room for argument as she steered you away, filling your mind with other things as you two left the town square.
And you spared a glance over your shoulder, wanting to see his the bright smile he'd flash the little children that flocked to his side, begging him to shift into them, only to be met with deep chestnut eyes, a heavy look on his face as he stared back intently at you.
And you quickly turned away, cheeks heating in embarrassment as you kept your gaze settled on the floor, doing your best to listen to Lila's talking despite the blood roaring in your ears.
"Ay, hermosa, do you know just how miserable you look right now?"
You kicked Dolores in the shins, your chin resting in your hand as you looked out into the mountains, zooming out her little giggles as she nestled herself next to you.
"'M not miserable, Dolores, I'm thinking," You heard her scoff, your legs dangling off the edge as you balanced on the brick wall, thoughts going wild as all you could think of was him, and the way he looked at you.
"Why do you act like I can't hear you every morning, huh? 'I think he likes orange, or maybe red,' or how about yesterday when you debated for an hour if my brother likes flowers. Y/n, do you realize we live with Isabella?" You groaned the more she spoke, covering your face with your hands to hide away in embracement.
"I'm not good with these things!" You argued, looking away as she chuckled, "Listen, I doubt he knows who I am, if that. Just let me sulk for a few more weeks, okay?"
As you tried to look anywhere but there you noticed the burnt hues of the sun littering the sky above you, a reminder that another day had gone to waste in trying to seek out Camilo.
"Well, I'm not sure if you should sa-" And you both perked up when you heard a familiar voice, your heart racing quickly in your chest as his face appeared from what seemed to be nowhere.
"Oi, Dolores!" Camilo waved his arms despite the fact that he was shouting and she could have picked up on it easily, "Tía Julieta needs you! Abuelita also needed help finding her glasses!"
You watched as she pressed her lips tightly together, sighing as she leaped off with a push of her hands, rubbing your knees affectionately as she started to leave towards the direction of the Madrigal house.
"Have some fate in yourself, okay hermosa?" You couldn't say anything to her kind nature, instead silently watching as she left, exchanging a few words with her brother as he glanced to you, and then quickly back to his sister, patting her shoulder as she left.
You only hoped he would leave, not wanting him to see you in such a state of disarray.
Though it seemed that Camilo had other plans as he walked closer towards you, his signature smile on his face as he neared your feet, looking up as he squinted slightly.
"You're Y/n, right?" Could he sense that your blood froze the moment he spoke his name, the way your hearing seemed to clear as it left his mouth?
"Y-yeah, that's me," His eyebrows quirked as he began climbing u the wall, settling right beside you, right where Dolores was, as he held out his hand for a shake.
"I'm Camilo. Dolores's brother," He pointed to where she had gone, but you already knew that.
You shakily gripped his, wanting to curse yourself for the sweat that dotted your palm, how your skin must have felt clammy in his hands, or the way your arm slightly shook as he gripped your hand.
You dimly nodded, biting the inside of your cheek as you tried to think of something clever to say, something that wouldn't totally wreck his first image of you.
"You're the one that can shapeshift, right?" You winced the moment the words came out of your mouth. Only an idiot wouldn't know what Camilo's gift was.
But instead of scoffing at your vacuity, he grinned, nodding quickly as his head morphed into one of a child, and then quickly back to his own as he watched a small smile grow on your face.
"The one and only," He teased, bumping his shoulder gently with yours, not realizing how the small gesture made you choke on your tongue.
You glanced to the side, your mind reeling as everything seemed to fall short, words failing as you forgot to speak, oblivious to the fact that the boy by your side looked at you warmly, his usual grin shifting into a small smile as you looked away.
"You know," He started, bumping his shoulder with yours once again to catch your attention, "My tía makes really good arepas. And she always makes more than we can eat," He scratched the back of his head, cheeks flushing under your intense gaze, heart beating rapidly in your proximity, "You can come, if you want, of course...?"
And in that split second, you felt everything lift up. Your eyes seemed to be locked in a trance, breathing going the same rate as you two stared at each other, finger itching to touch again as you slowly nodded, the smile that he had admired from war away gracing your face as you nodded more quickly.
"I-I'd love too," Hs chest released a breath of air at that, relief flooding his veins as he pushed himself off the edge, extending his hand out towards you as you slowly took it, gently jumping off in the same fashion as you dusted your clothes to rid of the dust.
"I'd have to warn you though, princesa, my family's a lot to handle. You think you can deal with it?" He warned, teasing you as he lead you towards the colorful house, his hand close to your back as you walked side by side next to him.
"I think I can," You joked back, knowing well that you loved every member of the Madrigal family, perhaps one of them a bit more than the others.
And from that moment on, the way the sun hit your radiating eyes seemed to stick in Camilo's mind. The way you kindly came into his family, into his heart, never leaving his mind.
Camilo liked to think that under any pressure he could shift away into something else, but under the pressure of your hold, the way you held him close to your body made him second guess everything he thought his entire life.
