Ok, so I vaguely remember this camp song from long ago that went like, "Big booty, big booty, big booty," and then you'd point to someone and say "big booty number 1" and something happened, and it would continue, with the three big booty's being the chorus. I do not remember all of this song or anything else about it, but it sometimes gets stuck in my head, just the opening.
I'm not taking comments on whether this song is appropriate for camp, just sharing a cursed memory with you all.

Have you ever noticed the old big dipper
And wondered what it's dippin' all night?
Well it's dippin' out peace, and it's dippin' out love, and it's dippin' out a way of life

Just made "Ratlin Bog" last 15 minutes. I found a new way to pass the time while guarding. 💀

ever just haunted by the faint echo of a song you half-learned at girl scout camp nearly twenty years ago?

once upon a time.....
there was a tree. you'll never guess where that tree was...... in a bog. but, you see, this was not your average bog. no, it was a rare bog. some would even call it a rattlin' bog.

Washington Waddle
Let's all go down to Washington DC! (badump, badump) That's where they play the sweetest ragtime melody! (badump, badump!)
Let's all begin with Lesson Number One: Where you waddle and you waddle 'till the day is done!
It's the Washington Waddle get the tune in your noddle! Let your feet have fun! (badump, badump!)
C'mon and waddle with me, my honey waddle with me, Like a ragtime ship on a ragtime sea!
Waddle! Waddle! Waddle! WADDLE!
Come on and waddle with me!
Yeah!

Also we are almost done with week 1 of camp and while I am absolutely exhausted, the teens are less and less of a hot mess each day which is so awesome to see.
Meanwhile, the older teens have forgotten all of their camp songs since its been almost 3 years since they sang any of them, which means that another camper-turned-staff and I ended up leading the camp in songs from the front of the camp during morning flag once and now strategically position ourselves in the crowd so the song leaders can see us and follow along when they get lost

Oh won’t you catch a shooting star for me?
And take it with you on your way
Though it seems that we’ve just met
You’re the one I won’t forget
Hope some kind wind blows you back my way
(1, 2, 3, 4!)
And I was thinkin’ maybe somewhere later down the road
After all our stories have been told
I’ll sit and think of you (who?)
My dear friend I once knew (aw)
Shot through my life like a shooting star

question for the camp folks not from new jersey:
y’all know the bazooka bubblegum song? specifically the verse with the quarter
what does the mom say to buy with a quarter in your version of the song? because i’ve heard “pay the porter” and “buy some water”, and neither really makes sense rhyme-scheme wise, like porter rhymes but nobody knows what a porter is anymore, and water only really rhymes in the thickest of jersey accents. so i’m curious to know if “buy some water” is only in new jersey or if it’s other places

One of my absolute favorite camp songs is the moose song, I don’t know if there are regional variations but if there are I’d love to hear them
The Moose Song (repeat after me song)
[Verse 1]
There was a great big moose
He liked to drink a lotta juice
There was a great big moose
He likes to drink a lotta juice
[Chorus]
I said a wayyyy ohhhh
Way oh way oh way oh way oh
Way oh way oh
Way oh way oh way oh way oh
[Verse 2]
The Moose’s name was Fred
He like to drink his juice in bed
The Moose’s name was Fred
He like to drink his juice in bed
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
He drank his juice with care
But he spilled some in his hair
He drank his juice with care
But he spilled some in his hair
[Chorus]
[Final verse]
Now he’s a sticky moose
Full of juuuuiiiceeee
On the looooooooooooooooose

The Monster
A creature stood before me. Tall and made of nightmares, twisted crafts of the inner workings of the mind. So unfathomably unholy and smiling with a sick knowing. It raised a claw with with malicious purpose. It hissed its intentions to me in a voice that rattled through my ears a thousand times over. "sus bog sussy bog way down in the valley-oh."
And thats on when my summer camp supervisor decided it would be good to change all our songs to be among us themed for the day.
