I kinda want to bring up the parallel I see between Caleb and Liliana. They don’t have much to do with each other, but it’s odd how similar their stories could have been.
Liliana was having strong powers and left her family to seek answers, where she found a teacher who helped her. The teacher helped her control her powers and also proposed new ideas to her, he manipulated her into believing them and joining their cult. She attempts to hold onto her family but she gave them up in order to be by her teacher’s side, even though it may appear that she does not support her teacher, she is so far gone into the cause and his thinking that she can’t escape without breaking a part of herself.
Caleb went off to school and found he was naturally gifted at using his magic and he was encouraged to by his family, he found a teacher who helped him. His teacher helped him understand how to use and control his powers, and also tries to manipulate him along the way. He also attempts to hold onto his family during this, but is forced to have his loyalty tested in order to stay by his teacher’s side. Unlike Liliana, he breaks and everything his teacher taught him unravels and he became a shell of a person.
I know this might be reaching, but I just found it interesting how similar they are. Liliana is how Caleb could have turned out if he stuck by his teacher’s side, he could have been sceptical like Astrid was, but he would have been too far gone.

I love the progression of each cr campaign’s relationship with fey
Vox Machina were basically rivals with Artagan, the Mighty Nein were mentored by literally the same guy, and now Bells Hells is like “Nana Morri gave us dinner and if you hurt us she’ll beat you up” and ‘Nana Morri’ is a fey hag with a nightmare tree of body horror who will, indeed, beat you up for hurting her 7 adopted grandkids

Okay, we've seen Grog need help escaping the evil sword. We've seen Fjord heroically overcome the evil sword. Now let's hope we get Chetney just fucking with the evil sword for shits and gigs.

i still to this day think it would have been hella epic if campaign 2 had ended with lucien trying to invade exandria with his new living city-fortress and the mighty nein gathering all of the allies they’ve met and the friends they’ve made across the campaign to mount a defence against him. he’d show up with his fleshy brain armies and realise who’s there to stop him: a massive army of friends, all here to stop him.
and he chuckles to himself. “very brave, you lot. but who do you think you are to stop me?”
and veth steps up to say, “we are the mighty nein!”
lucien frowns. “but…there are so many of you.”

It’s been a year. I am still thinking about Caleb being afraid to approach Trent to activate the collar because Liam knew Trent would have another turn before he did. Saying “I have to have faith in my friends” and getting closer anyway. Then watching Essek, the one Caleb has had the most trouble trusting, take Trent’s turn away at almost the last possible second

Looking at the conversations currently happening with regard to the gods of Exandria post Calamity episode 1, I think some people are having trouble with the fact that "the Prime deities are not always Nice and might actually also be a little at fault for the destruction here" does not have to be accompanied by "the Betrayers had a point, actually."
Asmodeus was almost certainly manipulating Zerxus in that dream. But the idea of the Dawnfather as frightening and without pity also aligns with how we know the Prime deities can act. The Betrayers can be Evil and the Primes can be merciless. Both can be true.
And to a certain extent, we already know this, at least a little bit, from the end of campaign 2. Vespin Chloras may have started the Calamity by unleashing the Betrayers, but the hubris of mages also angered the Prime deities. In fact we know that striking Aeor out of the sky for their arrogance in creating weapons intended to kill gods was something the Betrayers and the Primes agreed on and teamed up to do. It was the one thing they made a truce to accomplish in the middle of the Calamity.
Wizard hubris started the Calamity, but not just from one side. The Prime deities are often wrathful gods, and the release of the Betrayers triggered that wrath.

Well… that was quite the emotional rollercoaster. I have a lot of thoughts.
Firstly, I am over the moon about the callowmoore shenanigans! I love me a slow burn (pun absolutely intended). Pure fucking awkward chaos - nom nom nom! I don’t think the events with the shard spell the end of anything. We’ve seen romances weather worse storms. Remember that one time that Yasha nearly killed Beau? I love their whole dynamic and I’m excited to see it hopefully blossom into something more, and how they deal with all of this.
I’m disappointed that Ashton took the shard, but honestly that’s mostly because I think the narrative is going to be worse/less compelling for it. Seeing Fearne and Ashton learn how to navigate such a connection to another person is infinitely more interesting to me personally than Ashton adding to their already complex stack of abilities. Not saying it’s bad, or uninteresting, just less so than what could have been.
While watching Ashton nearly get shattered (again!!) was incredibly stressful, it was also the kinda high-stakes drama I enjoy. I’m really looking forward to the conversations that’ll come from this in the next episode.
After 4SD, I’m of the opinion that Fearne was scared of the power the shard holds and the potential of being corrupted by it. I also think part of it might have been not wanting to steal Ashton/Tal’s thunder. For Ashton, I reckon it was a combination of things. From their perspective, they’ve been a nobody their whole life, they finally have an opportunity to be a somebody. They want to take hits so others don’t have to. They want to be a hero. I think I get why we ended up here.
Am I a little mad at the characters for being kinda stupid? yes. Am I glad the cast RP their characters making stupid decisions? Also yes. As dumb and avoidable as this all might have been, it was a great piece of entertainment.
I’m surprised that I’ve yet to see anyone talk about Imogen and Laudna being so ready to abandon Ashton when they thought they were going to die… especially considering Ashton’s history. Even more so when looking at Ashton’s own reaction to other party members being close to death. I really hope that gets discussed at the table at some point. Could get some juicy RP moments.
I think I’ve rambled enough for one evening. Really looking forward to next week’s episode, let the drama begin!!

Rewatching campaign 2 & reminissing about the OG Mighty Nein and what might have been if it weren't for a, a-hem, change in player characters by Taliesin
Like. I love Caduceus, of course. But things would have been undeniably different with Molly.
I wish I could have seen him evolve and change along with the other m9. How he would react to Nott becoming Veth. To Fjord throwing away his sword and becoming a paladin of the wild mother. To Beau gaining a certain amount of charisma. To Yasha, finally allowing herself to love again. To Caleb, as he clings to his past with guilt and shame, even as he comes to terms with it. What would he have thought of essek? ((I honestly think he'd react the exact same way as Beau but with a higher charisma score))
Like. Molly being there for all of those moments would have been interesting. I can imagine how he would react and respond, but I don't really know. Plus, how would Molly have grown as a character? Who would he have become, given enough time?
(Also, due to Liam O'brien self-reported preference for romancing player character over npc's in d&d, plus Molly always flirting with Caleb, I like to think that that actually might have been a thing. At the very least, Molly would have added to the Bisexual Maelstrom 😭🤣🤣🤣)

Ludinus Da'leth is why Molaesmyr fell
It was a failed earlier attempt to free Predathos.
In Aeor ruins, MN saw corruption akin to the Savalirwood. During C2 wrap-up, Matt confirmed the taint traced to something brought from Aeor.
A Luxon was part of the final key. There's many hints of them and Dunamancy in Aeor.
After fast-forwarding time, the machine decayed and diseased Ludnius's arm. The machine later destroyed many things.
Ludinus ruined Malesmyr.

Okay, but after seeing what Rick Perry and his team did with the most recent battle set on Dimension 20, I'd love to see their take on the Cognouza ward from campaign 2 of Critical Role...
I just feel like they could build on Matt's unsettling descriptions in the best way.

Vox Machina 2x05: *Show's a flashback of Kiki's mom* Vex in Vox Machina 2x05: *Mentions the word "Viridian"* Me, who has seen Campaign 2: Hah! I see what you did there. Me: *Remembers that Kiki's mom has been on Rumblecusp for four years already at this point, is likely already going by Viridian, and will stay that way for another 25 years* Me: Me: Me: Well, that's just uncalled for.
