Okay I've started Elantris but it is slow going, not to be mean it's just clear this is one of Sandersons earlier works. That being said the way the magic zombie disease works reminds me of a line I've used for one of my characters in my Campaigns.
"Your wounds look fresh, treat them wrong and they'll never close."
Of course the Character he was talking to was physically fine, but clearly was undergoing emotional turmoil. Something about every injury remaining with you, weighed down by each mistake and slip, maybe it will play into why Elantris is so decayed? Like the soul of a place that never forgets each errant litter, each crime committed and dream shattered. Elantris is, at least at the start of the text, not a place of the dead, by the dying who can never really forget what it was like to not hurt.
Also, maybe Hoid was talking about this place in Words of Radiance when he asked Shallan if a man who could only feel agony and pain could know beauty.

nov week 1 media roundup
i've decided to do spoiler-free weekly media reviews of everything(ish) I consume each week so. here goes
books
started Elantris. I will admit that after being in the cosmere fandom and hearing what people said about it, I sort of saw this as a chore, but it absolutely SLAPS. not much magic yet, but I looooove the political storyline, and learning about the Elantrians is very cool. 4/5 so far!
have also been reading Harrow the Ninth very slowly. it is so good but I am so emotionally vulnerable. amazing prose, funny, goddamn devastating. 5/5.
fanfiction
I read many Laudna/ Imogen fics from CR campaign 3. my faves: [1] [2] [3]
here is a lovely little Rlainarin from Stormlight
music
unfortunately, it has been an angsty week, so here are my top 5 songs:
Angelina by Lizzy McAlpine - gay sadness
Warm Regards by Penelope Scott - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America by The 1975 - this song is very calming to me
Seventeen by MARINA - not calming, but a bop
Everybody Knows by Sigrid - doomsday type song
podcasts
loyal Shardcast (cosmere podcast) listener as always. I actually didn't listen to any other podcasts because I've been zooming through the Elantris audiobook
movies/ shows
I've never watched Critical Role before, but decided to start at Campaign 3. I am very slow at watching things, but I'm going to try my best to stay up to date. I've been watching at 1.5 speed, which helps, and I love the whole cast. especially invested in Imogen and Laudna's relationship (big queer vibes)
art
there’s this one, which almost made me cry:
Tumblr media
and then this one:
Tumblr media
it has been a pretty good week in terms of finding media I enjoy!! feel free to recommend more that I might possibly get around to at some point

A bunch of christmas gifts I made that have (mostly) been given away, so I can share them publically! I’m using intitials to preserve privacy, but each paragraph/hoop is for a different person, just in case there’s any confusion when I resue letters!
Tumblr media
A grey plane with “welcome home” clumsily scripted in cursive, with a blue background, and space left to let the white felt fill in clouds. For E, who was studying abroad, and hasn’t been on campus for more than a day-visit since March 2020. He’ll get this in January whenever we both get back to campus after winter break.
(cont. under the cut)
Tumblr media
Eberron DND: For G, our would-be-wizard who failed his dragonmark test for House Deneith and became a warlock instead. This is the mark he’s still trying to earn!
Tumblr media
For B: I’ve been in two campaigns with him, where he played a bard, and an artificer... except he’s an IRL bard and artificer. Who else does acappella and builds/wires/codes a working LED lightsaber with startup/shutdown animations??? The sword/guitar is a shapeshifiting magic item called “Curtains Call” that the bard Jayen used, and the goggles are from a cosplay he made for his warforged “P1LO7″ aka Pilot!
Tumblr media
For M, one of our DMs, this DM screen says all you need to know about their games, lol.
Tumblr media
For E, who is also a part of our dnd group and has a very fun warlock character, but who I also got started on Stormlight this semester. The madman barely slept and finished the ENTIRE SERIES, and Warbreaker and Elantris, in less than 5 months. (spoilers ahead). His favorite moment is Dalinar’s Moment with Odium at the end of Oathbringer, so he got a bondsmith symbol in Kholin blue.
Tumblr media
For M and S, my research advisors and Tolkien fans, this requires a bit of explaining. I was using M’s MATLAB code (that’s the middle symbol in case you aren’t familiar), but didn’t set the parameters right, and it spit out an error saying “you FOOL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!” which was too funny for me to be mad at. It reminded me of Gandalf’s “fool of a took” line to Pippen, so this bad joke resulted lmao
Tumblr media
For A, and his badass fighter character Remus who had The Best Character Arc in the campaign, dealt Way Too Much damage with his greatsword katana, and survived the end of the world twice. We will see if he survives the last session this upcoming Wednesday
More are coming but I wanted to post this before it got too long!

Things I Recommend:
(this list will Morph)
PODCASTS
         BomBARDed
BomBARDed is a musically-driven Dungeons & Dragons podcast that follows the adventures of three bards, as played by Dallas/Fort Worth band, Lindby. Musical mayhem, mischief, and a randomly generated song in every episode!
Family friendly musical fantasy adventure, with albums of all songs produced available to listen! Three chaotic students try (?) to be helpful and save people along the way. Found on Spotify, or wherever else you get your podcasts. If you like wacky adventures, music, D&D, jokes, and surprising emotional investment, maybe try this?
The Wiki    |     Website (You can listen here)   |
        Encounter Party
Five Ravnican citizens, each from different guilds, have their lives turn upside down when they find a mysterious artifact; a perfect metal orb. Though its properties are a mystery, it’s somehow connected to a strange infection spreading throughout the city. Black tendrils of corruption are making people lose their minds, or perhaps giving them new ones.
It’s a race against a clock they cannot see with certain doom if they fail, and all out guild war if they succeed. Prepare for a literal mind bending adventure of intrigue, mystery, and scientific mayhem! All this and more in Campaign #1 of Encounter Party!
Adult rating. I have literally listened to Campaign 1 like five times. Listen on Spotify, Google, Apple, or Stitcher.  in the world of Magic the Gathering (which I have no idea about), but I loved it anyway. I am so emotionally invested. They’re all voice actors, and it focus’ a lot on character and plot, and the tension and adventure is SO GOOD -

Welcome to Drawfee! Please enjoy this lil' shareable snippet of the magic we make on our special internet program. Show it to your friends! Show it to your family! Show it to your greatest enemy! We love you and we're sorry!
Four artists take your dumb ideas and make even dumber drawings. Some of the ideas are phenomenally stupid. They have so much content, I’ve been watching their stuff just as background noise for a year and still haven’t run out. Podcast-style conversation, consistent uploads, and honestly sometimes hilarious.
YouTube Channel      |     They Stream Too (Twitch.TV)
        Hermitcraft
Minecraft SMP with like so many members, there’s surely one you might like. Family friendly, and generally chill. Many highly skilled builders and redstoners and whatever else exist here. Each season is independent of the others, where they do a server reset and go all over again (so you don’t have to start from S1). Usually, you can just jump in whenever, but S8 has been REALLY WIERD, so it’s more fun to start from Ep1.
Top recommendations for getting started are:
Mumbo Jumbo  (very fast, very wild, two braincells in a hadron collider)   |      Grian   (accessible, fantastic laugh, wonderful builds)
    Love redstone and technical stuff?
DocM77  (engineering madness, deep beautiful german voice, dad man)     |       ZedaphPlays   (mad scientist {affectionate}, so creative)
    Love Building pretty things?
Bdouble0100  (texture master, literal Minecraft Glare, fantastic intonation, he funny)    |      GoodTimesWithScar  (master of artistry and building and landscaping
     Personal Recs:
XisumaVoid (v chill, Admin, helpful, currently doing an RP where he’s possessed by an evil version of him to create an evil empire and cryptocurrency?? but usually rly chill)    |     Iskall85  (the greatest Swede, beautiful laugh pretty builds)     |      Welsknight (real cosy country chill vibes, uploads diverse content)

Cosmere characters on social media
alright guys it’s time for the Important Question: What social media would the cosmere characters use?
Kaladin: you bet his bitter ass is on Twitter. non-negotiable. the politics of it would piss him off, but the man lives for justice. he’d be bringing attention to patreons and such (for others, not himself) and maybe tweet out self defense/medical tips, or about something sweet Syl or Oroden did (or even tweet out quotes from his father). he’d have a campaign against amaram (those tweets are liked by Bridge Four and Adolin). the only reason why he hasn’t tweeted mega angry shit about lighteyes in general is because he doesn’t want to lose his job (in bursts of bitterness he occasionally likes OTHER people’s tweets about that though. he’d feel bad for jeopardizing his code. and Syl might get onto him about it. but. at least they can’t fire him for that). he’d be pretty silent about his depression on there (by that i mean he wouldn’t make posts or draw attention to it, but he’d definitely like some mental health tweets. i feel like shallan would post something incredibly vague about the matter every now and then and he’d like all that)
Adolin’s cheerful so he can’t be anywhere near Twitter. it would break him. honestly, he’d make pinterest boards. he’d like the organization of it all. being able to have a panel for fashion AND swords???
Vin: girl is reclusive as HELL. i feel like she’d use social media though. I’m surprised to say, maybe Instagram? or Twitter too? insta bc she’s got a girly side, but idk.. i don’t see her as the posing for pictures type. she’d have instagram but she’d like never post. at least, book 1 Vin would never post. Book 3 Vin gives updates of her and Elend on her story and maybe writes a motivational paragraph every couple of months about her own struggles and finding herself. her insta grows with her character development. she avoids celebrities as much as possible.
Vasher: bitter old man is also on twitter. actually, no. he deleted all of his social media EXCEPT twitter. he only goes on there to laugh at arguments. he gets involved maybe twice. opposite with Vin, his involvement declines with his age. Nightblood would prod him to log in, though. if he could, he’d hack in and just type “EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL.”
(warning you: i actually haven’t?? read?? Elantris?? yet?? or white sand??? fake fan, i know. i’m waiting for white sand at the library. and elantris is on my Christmas list.)
Shai: Devianartdevianartdevianartdevianart. she’d get blocked from there though because someone posts their art with the caption ‘mine, do not steal,” and she doesn’t, she just recreates it to near perfection and posts it as hers. so yeah. blocked. she’s bitter about it.
Hoid: man, oh man, would any of our little human sites suffice? jk, he’s on tumblr. he’s got that energy and would be able to take on multiple different personas. now that i say that, Shallan’s here too.
Wayne: Wayne doesn’t have social media, he fiddles with whatever he’s got in his pocket and that’s that.
Dalinar: whatever social media he has, he’s bad at it. especially if he’s arguing. nobody takes him seriously. even Adolin has trouble supporting some of his posts. Kaladin likes every single one though, especially if honor’s involved.
Sazed: the man has a whole blog that only two people read, but that’s enough for him. in fact, he thinks he’s famous until he asks people irl about it and refers them to his blog. when they don’t check it out, he gets dejected, but Vin--and every now and then, with Vin’s prodding--Elend will give his stuff a like.
Siri: she’d be a vlogger. idk why she has vlogger energy, but she does. “hey I’m in Hallandren~, hI BACK HOME! VIVENNA, HERE’S MY HUSBAND. YOU KNOW, THE GUY YOU WOULD HAVE MARRIED! *Susebron blushes into the camera and says nothing*”
Lightsong: i don’t know what social media he’s on, but wherever he is, he actually gives some really sound advice buried beneath layers of self-effacing sarcasm
Jasnah: she uses Twitter to promote whatever book she’s just published and to call out everyone’s bullshit now and again. also to piss people off.
Pattern’s like a bot. literally no one can tell if he’s actually tweeting stuff out or if it’s generated. he has the same shit recycled bUT every now and then he’ll post about a discovery (which Syl will like and comment on like, “Oh! I remember finding out about MATING, something Kaladin won’t do!”). sometimes he’ll post something about Shallan and.. she was Very embarassed the first time it happened. However, talking to Pattern proved to be a long and ultimately fruitless conversation. Pattern still doesn’t understand why Shallan doesn’t like that, just that she doesn’t. he only talks about it occasionally, now. at least, online.
Elend: Goodreads! He’s also got something on the side--probably Instagram, actually, to be all ‘I LOVE MY WIFE!’ Kelsier. Cannot. STAND. IT. Elend notices that every one of Vin’s posts has received a like from Kelsier. nothing of Elend’s has ever been liked.
Feel free to add onto this!

Do I have that Book Challenge?
I tag anyone who wants to do this!! It’s long so I’ve got it under a read more!
1) Do you have a book with deckled edges?  The Spiderwick Chronicles--I used to love deckled edges as a kid but now they annoy the crap out of me.
2) Do you have a book with 3 or more people on the cover? Yep--I have the Harry Potter versions where the spines together form Hogwarts and it’s impossible to get them to fit back into the box they were sold in...I’m pretty sure they have crowds of people on the cover. I think everything else has 1-2 people
3) Do you have a book based on another fictional story? I have Beastly by Alex Flinn, Once and Future King by T.H. White, and The Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin Mckinley
4) Do you have a book with a title of 10 letters long?  So far through my searching I have a lot of 8′s and 11′s--Warbreaker by BrandoSando,  Bitterblue by Kirsten Cashore, Goldenhand by Garth Nix--somehow they all have something to do with color--I’m sure there are a few more but I’m tired of counting lol
5) Do you have a book title that starts and ends with the same letter?  The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher, Thirteen Days till Midnight by Patrick Carman, The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson
6) Do you have a Mass Market paperback book? I have Many of them. I’m just going to list the ones with series cause otherwise I’ll be naming most of the books on my shelf. All of my Game of Thrones, Mistborn Era 1, 3 of the Shadow Campaigns by Django Wexler (they stopped doing mass market after the 3rd), Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb, Elantris by BrandoSando, Anne of Green Gables...etc. etc.
7) Do you have a book written by an author using a pen name? John Dies at the End by David Wong-- I was shocked when I found out it was a pen name. I used to have Lemony Snicket but my sister stole them.
8) Do you have a book with a characters name in the title? Harry Potter, Mort by Terry Pratchett, Anne of Green Gables, Nancy Drew, Sabriel, Lireal, and Clariel all 3 by Garth Nix, Because of Winn Dixie and Black Beauty--Im p sure that was the name of the horse I havent read it in  a looong time
9) Do you have a book with two maps in it? The Way of Kings by BrandoSando, I think (?) Goldenhand has two.
10) Do you have a book that was turned into a TV show? American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Game of Thrones--neither of which I’ve read and I’ve only watched GoT. Also Good Omens and Anne of Green Gables
11) Do you have a book written by someone who is originally famous for something else?  The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher, Baseball is a Funny Story by Joe Garagiola
12) Do you have a book with a clock on the cover?  No??
13) Do you have a poetry book? I have Dr. Suess
14) Do you have a book with an award stamp on it? Simon vs The Homospaiens Agenda--most of them have “now a major motion film”
15) Do you have a book written by an author with the same initials as you? I was walking around my room and it was a struggle just to find an author with a J name--and then I found Jim Butcher--I have 3 of his books and I didn’t really like them lol
16) Do you have a book of short stories? Yep--I have 3. I can only read two from my current position--All Out, and Unfettered both are anthologies
17) Do you have a book between 500-510 pgs long? All the ones I thought might fit were around 280-380 or 480-800--there were a lot I didn’t check just because they are hard to get to/put back
18) Do you have a book that was turned into a movie? Harry Potter, Divergent, Spiderwick, To Kill a Mockingbird (neither read or seen yet), Lord of the Rings, The Little Princess
19) Do you have a graphic novel? Yes I have the 1st Rat Queens and the 1st Legend of Korra--I don’t really enjoy graphic novels though because I forget to look at the pictures cause Im dumb
20) Do you have a book written by two or more authors?  Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman--Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

Book Recommendations?
I asked for recommendations for books by women writers six months ago? Maybe longer. Anyway, I’ve been through that list now. Thank you so much for it, sometimes its nice to get a variety that otherwise I wouldn’t have considered (and goodreads is my main recommendation source so its nice to get ones that aren’t, y’know, computer generated recommendations).
So, uh, the point is, does anyone have any fantasy book recommendations? Any writer, any sub-genre, but particularly books with well-developed characters. I’d really appreciate it :)
Also, I can’t remember who rec’ed The Curse of Chalion and Paladin of Souls but they were both brilliant and I now own them.
And I’m going to stick some of my own recommendations under a cut for anyone who wants them.
- Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe (Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, Warbreaker, Elantris).... not that this is a surprise to anyone who follows me. - The Curse of Chalion and Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold - The Dagger and the Coin by Daniel Abraham (5 book series, starting with The Dragon’s Path). - Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (YA fantasy... and fair warning: I didn’t like the sequel. Doesn’t seem to be the popular opinion though) - The Shadow Campaigns by Django Wexler (5 books series, starting with The Thousand Names)
Also I’m reading Joe Abercrombie’s First Law series at the moment and its fantastic so far, but I haven’t read the third book yet.

What the fuck am I reading: Elantris and Authority
I finished two books today.
First: Elantris, by Brandon Sanderson. A lot of this will be complaints, so I’ll start off by saying it was a pretty decent read. I’d tried to read this once before but had run out of patience within the first few pages. Because my sister gifted this to me, I wanted to finish it this time. It’s a high fantasy book with kings and castles and what felt like thinly-veiled references to our history’s holy wars. So. That’s original... There is a city (Elantris) of once-magic-users who now are afflicted with a kind of zombie-like disease and now unable to use magic. The ability to use the magic and become an Elantrian seemed to strike at random, so people would wake up as “gods” (or, now, as monsters) and get chucked into the city. Their concept of magic was very similar to the alchemy you might see in Fullmetal Alchemist, (cough cough), but it didn’t seem as well fleshed-out. I detest the party-split style of writing wherein three separate groups are being written about but rarely interact, and yet that’s what I had here. The most interesting of the main characters was the prince, Raoden, who becomes an Elantrian at the start of the book. I liked him, I was interested in his discoveries, and he was kind of at the center of the whole point of the book. But every 10 pages or so he’d disappear and I’d be stuck with a princess who seems to detest or belittle most of her sex (oh what a silly nattering queen, and oh these poor aristocratic doves who need the princess to guide them because who cares about the skill involved in embroidery when we could be learning much more important fencing), or with a priest who was just frustrated with the illogical or greedy assholes who surrounded him (I was too--I actually didn’t really have a problem with the priest, despite him being set up as the main antagonist, because he wasn’t bloodthirsty, stupid, or pointless, so imagine that!). The author seemed to have little concept of how to do much actual political intrigue. A lot of their motives were laughably transparent or stated outright. People patted themselves on the back for being clever or wise when they were neither. It was just... not great, those parts. Reading this book probably took me a lot longer because I kept rolling my eyes and setting the book aside, just to pick it back up days later and slog through the rest of those conversations. The princess herself got better as time went on, but I really don’t appreciate books that put down traditional womanly pastimes or else make other women look inferior just to bolster another. It feels cheap. Why the sexism was so rampant in this world also just felt completely unnecessary. Sure, it’s possible the sexism would be there, but god is it fucking boring. I had some major criticisms of the worldbuilding in general, some of which goes into spoiler territory, so I’ll mostly leave it at how fucking quickly they seemed to have implemented a serfdom system (despite a bloody revolution not TEN years prior), how ridiculous their feudal system was even among the nobles (who apparently can’t hear themselves being mocked, constantly, by others within the same damned room in most scenes)--but anyway. It wasn’t bad, I just felt rather nitpicky. Ultimately, it was an okay book, although a lot of it felt rather rushed and unfinished by the end. Like, people were just spouting backstories left and right. If felt like when a D&D campaign is drawing to an end and the players are like “oh yeah, and btw, my character had a cool storyline we never got to explore about a betrayed brother, but nevermind that!”  And Jesus fuck I wish they’d shut up about the food. There’s this absolutely horrid little girl who stuffs her face constantly. No wait, there’s two little girls like that. One literally just howls for food day and night (she has no other characteristics, I am not joking). The other is apparently an expert in architecture, fencing, cuisine, and languages. She probably fucking flies when no one is watching. Oh isn’t she so perfect. When she isn’t shoving food down her gullet after whining at her father to be served for five pages. Fucking Christ.
Next, Authority, by Jeff VanderMeer. I listened to this one on audiobook while I was doing other things. It’s a sequel to Annihilation, which I reviewed before. I definitely liked the first book better. It had a bit more plot to it, for one thing. For another, I liked the Biologist better than Control. I didn’t get the same sense of connection with him, despite also feeling quite real and having a pretty rich backstory. Although this book also gave a little more insight into Area X, it didn’t have many real earth-shattering revelations, and I think I preferred a lot of the information actually kept behind the curtain. There were some parts that were suitably horrifying and intriguing. But it was a bit of a step-down as compared to that thing in the Tower from the first book. If the Biologist had come upon just some of this information, instead, in one of those journals in the first book, maybe, I might have liked it more. This book was just a little too much about the banal bureaucracy of it all. Because I liked the Biologist more, I also just spent a lot of this book wishing Control could go spend more time with her, which rarely happened. I did like seeing her from the outside a bit, I suppose, but I missed her observations and thoughts and memories. I’ll go on to the last book, and if you read the first you might like this second. But to me it felt less like a  Lovecraft-Ellison-Kafka creation than just something more like Stephen King, Firestarter-era. Again, not bad, but know what you’re getting into.

What D&D Game Am I Talking About?: A Masterpost
Current Games
Glitterhearts. A voice game DMed by @tomahawkbunny, using the Glitterhearts system which runs on Powered by the Apocalypse. We’re a group of college students who are also magical girls/superheroes trying to thwart a mysterious villain who goes by Blackbox while caught between a megacorp and our school/family responsibilities. I play Giselle Wilis (she/her), superhero name Odette (they/them), who is a ballerina and whose mystical connection to her powers is through anger.
We also did a side campaign in the same world using the Blades in the Dark system, where we were supervillains. In this, I played Ezekiel Wright (known professionally as The Emperor).
Library. A play-by-post game DMed by @himboangelpaladin in D&D 5e. A group of high level adventurers are put together to discover what the problem is with the wards and magic of an interplanar Library full of magical secrets and incredibly powerful artifacts. I play Dari of the Void of Knowledge and Whispers, a drow Wizard (1)/Battlemaster (9)/Hexblade warlock (1), who is one of the very few people in her community to not have the magic necessary to help keep them safe and so has sought out the Library in the hopes of being able to learn it there.
Colossus. A voice game set in a world where cities and civilizations are built on the backs of giant moving beasts. I play Ember, a level 5 human Cavalier fighter who is on a journey to prove herself worthy of becoming a dragonrider.
The Lost Laboratory of Kwalish. A play by post game in DND 5e, DMed by @runcibleshaw using the short module. I play Flamel, a level 6 goliath transmutation wizard.
Past Games
Underdark. The magic has vanished from the world above and is held only in the Underdark. A group of four adventurers seeks to solve this problem. I played Tahel, drow Stars druid(4) / Protection cleric (1).
THe. A voice game DMed by @tomahawkbunny. A three-shot heist salvaged from the depths of a bad module, a family (and a variety of random cousins and ex-boyfriends) goes to a VR escape room for the twins’ birthday and that escape room involves heisting some rich asshole for all his magic items. I played Gomez Addams, swords bard (15). We WON the ESCAPE ROOM
The Grand Martini Ball. A play-by-post game DMed by @saltcauldron. We are workers in the palace of the Grand Duke, responsible for pulling together the Grand Martini Ball. However, the Lord Mage has gone missing, and we absolutely must find him. I played Viviénne Vesper-Boulevardier, changeling Swashbuckler (3), Guardian-Commander, inventor of guns, and all around condescending bitch.
Elantris. A play-by-post game DMed by @chomperstanaccount. A party of level 14 adventurers awaken from a decades’-long Sequester, timed for them to kill their enemy lich when the lich returns from the dead. Something has gone wrong with the Sequester and they cannot take long or short rests and also their magic items have been stolen. They have to save the world with only the resources, hp, and abilities they have. I play Aa Dor, goliath Crown paladin (13) sworn to the hope of a better world. This game is the subject of many posts along the lines of “what if we win?”
Troika!. A voice game using the Troika! system. I am incapable of summarizing it.
Nyx. A play-by-post game DMed by me, pitched as “a paladin game”. On a part of a planet where there is near perpetual darkness, light is dangerous and burns. Two thousand years ago, the Old Kingdom fell, and it now lies in ruins along the coast. Around the Kingdom is a dome of light, bright and scorching, that burns up into the sky. Nobody knows what causes this, and nobody has been able to survive it long enough to find out. But now, it seems, the light is beginning to spread. The party will start at level 6, and consists of a Vengeance paladin, an Echo Knight fighter, a Watchers paladin, a Redemption paladin, a Hexblade warlock, and a Lore bard.
The Magic Sword. A voice game DMed by @tomahawkbunny. A hero has been chosen by a sword to defeat the evil emperor. The last time someone was chosen, they failed. This time, the Chosen has three Guides from other planes, held here by an Anchor. The Chosen is level 9, the Anchor is level 12, the Guides are level 14. As long as the Anchor lives, the Guides can return from death. If the Anchor dies they can’t return, and if the Chosen dies all is lost. I will played the Anchor, a level 11 warforged Vengeance paladin named Aegis.
Tannin. A voice game DMed by me in D&D 5e! In a world mostly politically and magically controlled by the few dragons, who are able to shapeshift into humans because of experiments thousands of years ago, the dragons have disappeared, and no one knows where they’ve gone. Magic has gone wild as a result, and factions of scientists who don’t want the dragons back vie against other factions who seek for their return. The party is currently level 5, and consists of Branch, a kobold Divination wizard ( @frogndtoad ), Nyanna, a tabaxi Lore bard ( @goopy-phosphenes), and Gorgoth, a bearfolk Spores druid.
Lex Talionis. A voice game DMed by simultaneouseffects. A party of adventurers is murdered in their beds, their belongings stolen. The next sunset, they awaken, with no knowledge of their killer but how to find them and that they must be killed. I play Andromeda, a level 6 Stars druid.
Seekers of the Ashen Crown. A DND 4e module DMed in voice by simultaneouseffects. I played Hyacinth, a level 2 earthsoul genasi warlord. We TPKed session four.
Amber Diceless. A short game DMed by me using the Amber Diceless RPG system.

25 for as and/or aegis 🥺
25. what stories do they like to tell? what stories do they like to hear?
Aa likes to tell old goliath myths, but those are best in Giant, so they don't really anymore. Other than that, they mostly prefer to listen; to whatever new heroic legend Irsa's discovered, or whatever embellished tale of their exploits Iskar and Wrenara have decided is relevant, or Liss's memories of Amos, or any piece of their life that anyone they meet wants to share. They are very good at listening.
Aegis does not tell stories, but they've listened very closely (although from a distance) to every single story Alita has shared since they've begun traveling together.

69 (nice) for Aa
69. How would they describe their party members?
This is a nightmare question because we simply haven't played in so long and also we roleplay so little out of combat. And also I cannot...think of a situation in which Aa would be describing their friends to someone I truly do not know how or when it would happen and so I do not know what to emphasize or what they would reasonably say :[
Wrenara: Reliable. Strong. Smarter and more considerate than people give her credit for because they're usually distracted by her being strong. Funny. And this is less things that they would...mention to someone else but they are always more comfortable fighting next to her than without her and they have both noticed and appreciated how she defaults to talking to them in Orc. Reckless with her safety in a way that they understand and don’t begrudge her, although they wish she didn’t have to be.
Zayjia: I really don’t know how much they’d ever...describe her. She’s just Zayjia! She’s smart, she makes the right calls, she’s deeply dedicated to her cause, she’s got contingencies for her contingencies. They admire her a lot. Aa would trust any of the group with their life, but they’d trust Zayjia with basically anyone’s life, even knowing that she doesn’t necessarily trust that she’ll always be trustworthy. They would die for her, and have, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t kill her if it ever came to that.
Liss: Colorful, expressive. Deeply kind and patient in a way that clearly has intention behind it and was not come by easily. The person they’ve come closest to ever experiencing jealousy of, although that was a long time ago and now it’s more respect and gratitude that she dedicates so much of herself to keeping the rest of the group alive and safe. They know very well that they would not be walking and talking if not for her. They very much trust her judgment and like to hear her opinions on things even if they don’t always end up agreeing. Mmm they’re deeply proud of her, also, of how she recovered and grew and the person she became after losing Amos.
Iskar: Loud! Easy to talk to, by which they mean easy to sit and listen to. Doesn’t think well enough of himself and is much more competent than he gives himself credit for. They’re very glad he’s got Wrenara looking out for him, and vice versa. How much he cares about people is incredibly easy to see and, while Aa does almost always agree with Zayjia, they’re glad that Iskar is around to challenge her. This one is hard because so much of Iskar is how he interacts with the rest of us,
