muu's pose actually seems to be the opposite as in undercover? boxcutter held in front of her to her upper chest | flowers held behind her to her lower back, in her mvs after she stabs rei she holds the box cutter near her stomach/lower in lap though, closer to where the flowers are.

There was a Buddy Daddies Radio at AnimeJapan 2023, but the live video to watch it was region blocked. Ugh. Did anyone get to hear it? I’m curious what they may have talked about and if they dropped any more hints about the final episode.

A teaser of an audio drama that is going to be packaged with Vol. 2 of the DVD/BDs called “When one door closes, another door opens.”

Japanese:  実家を出てホテル暮らしをしていた零。仕事もろくにせずギャンブルで全財産をスッてしまった一騎。それぞれ別の暮らしをしていた2人だったが、久太郎は一騎に零を捜すように依頼する依頼する。やっと零を見つけた一騎だったが――。

English: Rei left his parents house and is now living in a hotel. Kazuki, who isn’t working near enough for it, gambles away all his money. Although the two were living their own separate lives, Kyutaro asks Kazuki to look for Rei. Kazuki finally finds Rei, but...

In the snippet they play above, you can hear Rei playing games (he failed the mission) and ordering room service. But he can’t use his card to buy the food, so the hotel staff asks if he has any other means of paying. Then we hear the staff employee shouting, “COME BACK!” (more directly, “WAIT!”) and the sound of Rei breathing heavily, indicating that he has run away from the hotel. It seems he runs into the street, since there is a car horn honking and a man yelling, “What the hell are you doing!?” to him. Rei’s scene ends with him being like, “This is bad. I can’t use my card and I don’t have any money on me.”

Then it transitions over to Kazuki’s part of the audio drama. We hear the sound of gambling. It seems Kazuki put all his money on red, and even Carol and Dorothy are like, “Wow! You’re going to bet all your money?” and “Wow, Kazuki, how daring!” He takes a big, long sip of his beer and he’s all like, “I’m gonna win big this time! And then I’m going to ---” and he starts to say what he plans to do with the money he wins, but you hear the clack-clack of the ball and his scream of pain at realizing he lost it all, lmao. Carol: Come again, ka~ay? :D Then you hear Kazuki sneezing and then drinking again, he sadly states, “My life is a over.” Then Kyutaro finds him and tells him to come over to the Mistletoe Cafe. 

So, I wonder if this is going to be the backstory that leads to the scene that we see in Episode 8 of Kazuki walking into the cafe and seeing Rei there? If it does play out like that, then that will be rather interesting, since it would parallel Episode 5 when Miri got lost. Kazuki and Rei searched all over, but then they found her at Kyu’s cafe. It would make for an interesting parallel.

This would also fit with Kazuki saying that it was because of Kyutaro that they met (I believe he says that, or something similar, someone correct me if I am misremembering though!). Since this sounds like the setup to when they both first got to know each other and then started living together. Nice!

"yes, mahal? what is it?" you asked as you ran a hand through his wicks. he chuckled and held you closer, "i'd fancy you teaching me some of your native language, aking sinta." he said as he pressed his chin on your shoulder and hugging you from behind in a loving embrace.

you raised your eyebrows in surprise as his request had taken you aback. "you... want to learn tagalog?" you asked him, and he nodded with a grin. "i figured it was about time i got to learn more about you. i can't just keep myself in the dark about the language you're so familiar with, that'd be suffocating for you, and you know i hate seeing you struggle." he confessed with a small smirk as he hugged you tighter.

"and besides..." he said as he squeezed your cheeks with one hand and slowly, gently turned your head to face him as he was still on your shoulder, "...i'd love to fluster you in many more ways than i'm already way too familiar with in english." he murmured as he nearly brought his nose and lips to touch yours, causing you to gasp slightly at the closeness between you two. "oh, sige." you'd whisper out as hobie chuckles to himself how cute you are when you get all embarrassed.

you soon taught hobie the basics, basic greetings, numbers, questions, answers and all--it went surprisingly well, in your opinion. hobie was an extremely fast learner, especially since he put a lot of focus and effort into learning tagalog for you with you. you couldn't help but chuckle, however, at how his accent clashed with the words.

you found it very endearing, though, how his accent remained a prominent thing despite speaking a foreign language; it was one of hobie's little quirks that you found wonderful, that you fell in love with, too. because how could you possibly not fall for him when he not only looked beautiful--with his piercings, his hair done like that, his height, his complexion, his eyes, fashion sense, personality and all--but sounded beautiful?

"now," hobie began as he looked at you with a smirk. "let me try saying something i've tried learning on my own secretly." he said as he put his hands on yours as he leane din close, his nose brushing against your cheek as his lips touched your earlobe. "mahal kita, sobra. sobra pa sa sobra, at mamahalin kita habangbuhay, maging sino ka man." he said with a bashful expression, his smile widening as he let the embarrassment of his admission of his unconditional and unwavering love for you sink in, with you feeling more and more giddy and excited at his words.

and before you could get another word out, he pecked your lips and stuck his tongue out at you. "i also practiced that rey valera song your parents like so much. i found out what the lyrics meant... and i know, i know that's exactly what i feel for you, aking minamahal." he said as you got all flustered and covered your face as you smiled wider. "tumahimik ka... pero mahal rin kita, okay..."

"bye din kazuha!!" him and xiao just stared at each other before kazuha ended the silent staring competition after maki jumped off kazuha's lap and walked away, while he waved back to hu tao with a polite smile.

you watched the pair walk back to their car and drive off, waiting for a moment before locking the door and plopping down on the couch with your boyfriend. "na saan si maki?" kazuha chuckled, running his fingers through your hair as you laid on his chest. "umalis siya kanina," and as if on cue, your cat jumps onto him and makes himself comfortable on your boyfriend's chest too. "dapat pala mas madalas wala si kuya." you sighed in content, closing your eyes—wanting to rest after a long day. "rest ka muna, love. i'll wake you up pag malapit na kuya mo." and just before you could reply, kazuha's phone chimed and the notification itself was able to make your stomach churn.

"huh? ba't may pa-heart pa sa name?" you scowled, pushing yourself up to sit properly and face your boyfriend. "it's not what you think," kazuha thinks of any possibilities that someone could've put yunjin's number on his phone, cause he knows damn well he never saved it. "sinave siguro ni hu tao sa phone ko. i already told you before that i never saved it, right?" he assured you, taking your hand in his and giving it a comforting squeeze. this is kazuha we're talking about, your boyfriend of 10 months who agreed to keep your relationship a secret because of your issues, he would never lie to you and you trust him with all your heart.

"when i replied to her a while ago, i didn't have any intentions of building a romantic connection with her or anything. though i can show you off in front of in front of many people, always know that i love you and that i'd wait for you till you're ready." his words make you tear up and bit, moving closer to pull him in a hug. "i love you too, i'm sorry for reacting a bit iffy. knowing what she feels and how she goes on about it just makes me a bit mad sometimes."

1. Mace: THE purple lightsaber, to the point that I'm unwilling to accept anyone else having a purple saber while Mace is alive (before or after is fine, but my headcanon is Mace's concentrated awesomeness caused the Force to go "no one else gets a purple one"), the shock and surprise at a purple saber onscreen in aotc is one of my most cherished memories, I also love the hilts design, the slender semi-symmetry and gold accents

2. Yoda: I can never get over the simple fact that Yoda has a lightsaber, as a kid I didn't think it was allowed, so seeing him draw his saber in the theater (much like Mace's purple) blew my mind, and I love how Yoda's saber has some visual cues and similarities to the other sabers of the lineage

3. Obi-Wan (TPM): this one was MY LIGHTSABER as a kid, I had a toy of this one and I'd spend hours running around pretending to be Obi-Wan and cut down battle droids

4. Luke: the original green lightsaber, everyone who has one lives in Luke's shadow, I also think Luke's is a better version of Obi-Wan's lightsaber design, the mostly silver with a hint of Bronze accenting it really just works, and the green is just so pretty, this saber is the reason why the high end toy saber I bought has a green blade

5. Stellan Gios: I love it because it does something I never considered, it's BOTH kinds of crossguard saber! Physical and energy blade, thus it's also insanely practical too! Now your hands are protected from the crossguard blades, and I like how when deactivated the physical crossguard folds up

6. Rey: first yellow saber onscreen! 7. Tenel Ka: Its a lightsaber made into a tooth, that is so cool, love it, reused it for an oc, also it's the only instance I can think of in SW where a first attempt at building a lightsaber went wrong and the builder had to redo it

8. F: Yellow lightsaber and a katana? Yes please!

9. Zayne Carrick: I don’t think he was the one who introduced me to the idea of yellow lightsabers, but he is the one who popularized it for me, and I think he’s the first major/lead protagonist in a SW story to have one, or at the very least his story was the first I read where the lead had a yellow lightsaber

10. Gungi: I love stuff carved from wood, my favorite aesthetic, so a lightsaber with a wooden hilt is an instant win for me, and the green blade just makes it feel so natural

Bonus, Megatron: it's purple and its a transformer lightsaber! It needs to be in more Megatron toys

Hey June! I was wondering, what medias/books would you recommend for a person wanting to get into the ancient greek classics? The Iliad/Odyssey/Aeneid stories fascinate me, but as there are so many versions and translations and retellings, I don't really know where to start. How did you get into them?

hey anon! I feel mildly underqualified to answer this as I actually haven’t read the Iliad or Odyssey or all of the Aeneid but I will do my best (i’m working on it! promise! iliad is up next and i’m gonna read it and i’m gonna go crazyinsane)

firstly you should totally read the original texts. remember that they aren’t The One True Story, they’re just written-down versions of wobbly cultural stories that change from person to person. and you don’t have to read them before reading retellings or adaptation but it’s good to read them fairly close together. just read what you wanna read. the bit of the Aeneid I read was translated by Robert Fagles, and I’ve heard Emily Wilson’s Odyssey is good. my friend Theo @fifthlydoyoudream recommends E. V. Rieu’s Argonautica translation, if you wanna read that. poetry in translation has decent translations of most plays i’ve tried to find, and that’s nice because it’s online and super accessible.

the way I first got into the greek classics was reading Anne Carson’s An Oresteia, which is Agamemnon, Elektra, and Orestes. it’s a really great intro because Anne Carson’s translations are just fantastic & it’s one play from each of the three big greek tragedy-writers & it’s a pretty well-contained story so you don’t need much context - you could read Iphigenia at Aulis first but that’s not really necessary. (confusingly there is also The Oresteia, which is different). if you can find an Anne Carson translation of a play you should totally read that one. that’s my rule of thumb. I always recommend Antigone too - it’s also fairly self-contained and it makes me crazyinsane. Anne Carson has two translations, they’re both good - Antigonick is better if you have a little context beforehand in my opinion. also Oedipus the King/Oedipus Rex is good.

tbh what i recommend is just following characters or stories that you like and seeing where that gets you. like i’m having a pretty intense house of atreus moment atm but i still barely know who penelope is because i haven’t read the odyssey. who is penthesilea? still do not know. but don’t get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff out there!! it can be a little scary but wikipedia is your friend and also you do not have to know everything.

and some adaptations/retellings:

Lavinia by Ursula K. le Guin is an adaptation/retelling of the Aeneid from Lavinia’s point of view and it is very very good.

Luis Alfaro’s Greek Trilogy are play adaptations of Oedipus Rex, Elektra, and Medea set in modern-day LA with a Latino cast and it is so fucking good it makes me want to bite glass and explode. you can find oedipus el rey by googling but the other ones might be a bit more annoying to find

Iphigenia and the Furies (on Taurian Land) by Ho Ka Kei is a good deconstruction of the colonialist nature of Iphigenia among the Taurians, and it is also absurdly hilarious, so I recommend. I read it before I read the play it adapts and I was fine but it is good to have context.

i’m having an iphigenia moment anyway i also recommend Iphigenia at Zero by Lisa Schlesinger if you get into iphigenia’s story.

I’m like 15 pages in to Cassandra by Christa Wolf and I am thoroughly enjoying it so far

Antigone directed by Sophie Deraspe is a great French Canadian adaptation of Antigone in the modern day I really like it

and who would i be if i didn’t recommend max @goose-books‘s godsong, aka the aeneid (among other things) with lesbians

also. note on adaptation - a lot of adaptations i have read flatten the morality of these plays into good and bad. i think that’s dumb. let them be shitty, adaptations!

Tenel Ka Djo-(4 aby-?)-Daughter of the Singing Mountain Witches of Dathomir and Queen Mother of the Hapes Consortium. All around badass.

Anakin Organa-(9 aby-?)-Youngest child of Leia and Han, Heir of New Alderaan, aspirant Jedi turned Senator of the New Republic. The mechanic, the swordsmaster who hated fighting, the leader traumatized by the losses of their failures.

Tahiri Veila (It’s complicated)-(10 aby-?)-Raised by Tuskens, taught by Luke Skywalker himself, withstood the Embrace of Pain and soon to be Jedi Master. All around badass (Skywalkers have a type, okay?)

Obi Wan “Ben” Skywalker-(14 aby-?)-First son of Luke and Mara, expert Lightsaber combatant, sassmaster in the vein of his mother, dealing with his father’s mid-life “eccentricities”.

Vestara “Rey” Khai (It’s not like that!)-(12 aby-?)-Exiled scion of a Lost Tribe of Sith, seeking to kill Luke Skywalker and regain her honor. A pilot, a stormtrooper, and a Jedi may change this.
