#can you tell we just finished dr2

What do you think really happened to Ilsa in DR1?
i am 100% confident that she is alive!!!!!! first of all i just don’t truly believe that tom would want to finish part 2 without having rebecca involved. listen to the rogue nation commentary track to see what i mean (or just look for him talking about her literally anywhere) (or wait for my post on the topic).
second, ilsa is perfectly set up to be a Ghost and a Shadow (two terms that are repeated not only in dr but also throughout the series) in dr2. luther tells ethan that he’s going offline to try to figure out the entity, but the entity does know he’s still a player even if he’s not currently on the map.
ilsa. ilsa, though. by faking her death ilsa fulfills ethan’s ‘written’ fate of losing someone he cares about and gabriel and the entity will both believe their plan, their story, gets to continue on. but ilsa is still alive. ilsa is operating in the dark and she is going to be the key (hah) to everything in dr2. she is going to reappear and save the day and the entire theater is going to go apeshit
it’s genuinely just what makes the most sense and is the most in line with the story that tom and mcq are trying to tell. their refrain is “story is king!” they said it about rogue nation and they’re saying it about dead reckoning. this is a story about revisiting the past in order to move forward. we are being taken to the first movie yes, but also even further, to an ethan we’ve never seen before. ethan’s past is coming back to him but ilsa remains his future. she’s always been his future (come away with me), he just hasn’t been ready to see it.
dr1 was the entity’s movie — we were seeing what it wanted us to see, we were following its script, looking at its shots and editing decisions. ethan said we can’t trust anything outside of this conversation in venice and that was an instruction to us, too! ilsa guided the knife into her chest. every glance between ilsa and ethan in venice now seems like a goodbye (for now). a be safe (because i won’t be able to know where you are or if you’re still alive). he said run as FAR as you can. he wasn’t talking about venice.
luther and ilsa have always been aligned and now they are going to be their own team. they will return to save ethan and benjis asses and ethan will kill the entity and then. and then. they’ll get to choose what to do next. and ethan will say ‘i’m coming with you.’ and ilsa will say ‘i know.’

School makes My drawing schedule messed up, and i realized i haven't post anything, so i'll just make a text post about why i'm lowkey scared of hajime because why not.
These are all just my thoughts i've gathered, if i'm missing out something you can tell me.
(Also spoiler alert for DR2 and DR3: the end of hope's peak academy)
I think we can agree that hajime is a dumbass and always unconfident. But i'm here to talk about his other side, his side that i think everyone should acknowledge too, his side that makes me realized i shouldn't fk with someone like him.
Ok, first of all, lets talk about his relationship with nagito before and after chapter 1. So we all knew how closed nagito is with hajime in the prologue, and hajime himself even already consider nagito a good friend, until nagito shows his "true nature". For hajime, it felt like a betrayal that his good friend is actually a "psychopath", and that betrayal feelings leads him to become hostile towards nagito, we can see how he always verbally abuse nagito, sometimes ignored him completely, he even once said
"If he didn't exist, this situation would be a lot easier to deal with..." And i'm glad he didn't said that to nagito out loud-
You see, once you become his best friend, especially when he consider it, if you ever pissed him off or the others in the worst way, he won't hesitate to hate you from the bottom of his heart.
Remember in chapter 5, there's a helicopter, hajime noticed its the same helicopter that monokuma used to execute teruteru, and then he proceeds to punch it, so hard, that it makes a loud noise. He just punched a freaking helicopter without even think twice.
It leads me to believe, hajime WOULD physically hurts monokuma if there's no rules. After all, he had enough with monokuma, but he can't do anything much, instead he would punch the object that monokuma used.
We never saw hajime physically hurting someone in DR2 even nagito, But, he also didn't stop someone who physically hurts nagito either, Its like, he will let someone hurt him instead. Again, just like monokuma, he doesn't want to hurt nagito because of the situation, if it's not the killing game, i won't be surprised if he punch nagito.
And one thing is, i don't know if you noticed it or not, but when you finished someone else's fragment, you will get praised by the narrator, but when you finished nagito's fragment the narrator didn't say anything, not even praised.
I think this is because we're in Hajime's POV, and because how hostile he is towards him, he totally didn't give a single sht.
Although, in DR3, he's now chill and doesn't seems to hate nagito (personal HC that i think he regrets what had he done because my man just hates someone without even knowing behind it (and wants to treat everyone equally now))
But that doesn't mean his anger is over as we see him beating the crap out of five ultimates and breaks an iron door to get Ryota while look so done and pissed off-
You know, i like how Nagito always apologized and blame himself, while hajime on the other hand won't hesitate to break your ankle if you ate all of his kusamochi.
in conclusion ... Don't mess with Hajime, just- no, you don't want to get verbally abuse everyday by him and hurt you when he had enough. If he come to your house at 3 AM you probably have a problem with him, and you need to apologize... As if he will accept your apologize...

Promise - Mondo Owada x Reader
It’s been a few days since the killing school life began. So far, no has died, but you’re still nervous. You had promised Taka that you’d come to the morning meeting in the dining hall, so when the morning Monokuma announcement plays, you make your way there.
It wasn’t long before you were standing in front of the door to the dining hall, when you suddenly ran into none other than the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader himself, Mondo Owada. Honestly, you find him quite attractive, or, you would, if he wasn’t so scary. He is the leader of the most feared biker gang in all of Japan, after all.
You recall the first time you met him easily. You had entered Hope’s Peak Academy one morning, walked into the entrance hall, fainted, and then woke up in a classroom you’d never seen before. When you had made your way back to the main hall, a group of Ultimates was waiting there.
The group seemed to have broken out into unorganized confusion, but a boy with black hair and red eyes took charge immediately.
“May I please have everyone’s attention?!” He called out, and everyone turned to look at him. He then introduced himself as Kiyotaka Ishimaru, the Ultimate Moral Compass. He went on to suggest we all introduce ourselves to each other so that we could understand our situation better.
Everyone seemed to agree to his idea, so you turned around and introduced yourself to the first person you saw: a tall boy with a strange haircut, wearing a long black coat and baggy pants. He looked like something of a delinquent, but you also found him rather attractive.
“Um, hi,” you said softly, slightly intimidated by his height and aggressive demeanor. “I’m Y/N… Y/N L/N, the Ultimate [talent].”
“The name’s Mondo Owada, nice to fuckin’ meetcha.”
You snapped back to reality, blushing slightly as you realized you had been staring at him for a few moments while you were lost in thought.
“Oh,” you said softly. “Good morning, Mondo.”
“Like hell it is!” he scoffed. “The day I beat the stuffing outta that goddamned bear, that’ll be a good fucking morning.”
“O-oh..I guess you’re right,” you said, a bit dejected. Before he could say anything else, you opened the door to the dining hall and walked inside.
“...Damnit!” He exclaimed, letting out a frustrated sigh. He hadn’t meant to be so aggressive, he just couldn’t help it. His problem with aggression was only aggravated by the fact that he found you to be utterly beautiful, which made him nervous in your presence.
A few minutes later, and all fifteen of you had gathered in the dining hall. It seemed like a normal morning, until Monokuma showed up.
“I’ve got a beary big surprise for you all!” exclaimed Monokuma. “Can you guess it? Can ya? Welllll, you don’t hafta, cause I’ll tell ya! It’s a special video for each of you showing you what’s going on outside the school!”
A...video...showing you...what’s going on...outside the school…?
“Outside the school?” Makoto asked. “What are you talking about?”
“Why dontcha just watch it, and find out?!” Monokuma retorted.
“Fine,” replied Kyoko, who sat in the back of the dining hall. “Then we can go to the A/V room and watch it right now.”
Monokuma disappeared, like usual, leaving the group confused. Curiosity and confusion dominated the conversation that broke out as everyone tried to make sense of Monokuma’s actions.
Eventually, everyone decided to go watch the videos, and so the group made their way to the A/V room. Makoto had gone ahead first, and when you arrived at the room with everyone else, there was a grave look on his pale face. Quickly, everyone grabbed their individual DVDs and rushed to a monitor.
When you watched yours, a video of your family appeared on the screen, wishing you good luck at Hope’s Peak Academy, but then the video suddenly changed to an image of your home that looked completely destroyed. If that weren’t bad enough, you saw blood splattered across the wall.
Blinking back tears, you stumbled away from the monitor. You began to hear outbursts from your classmates, but it was all muffled to you.
“This.. this can’t be real…!” “No.. no way…!” “What..is..this?!”
You couldn’t process it at all. The black and white bear, this killing school life… none of it made any sense.
“N-no,” you mumbled quietly to yourself. There was a part of you that realised you were trembling, but you didn’t have the energy to try to stop it. “Why..why is this...happening…”
“Y/N?” Taka called out, noticing your distress. “Are you alright?”
You barely even heard him. Desperation and fear struck you, and you quickly ran from the room, tears clouding your vision.
Without a thought, you stumbled into an empty classroom. Your mind was completely blank as you tried to make sense of everything that was happening. You were scared for your family, and you were scared for yourself. What if someone tried to kill you because of the motive video they watched? Anxiety and fear built up inside you quickly...
You had no idea how much time had passed when suddenly the door opened, revealing none other than the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader himself.
“Ah, Y/N! You’ve been gone all day, everyone was worried…!” He exclaimed, smiling at the fact that he had found you, before his expression was quickly replaced with a look of concern. Your face had gone pale and your eyes were nearly vacant.
Before you even knew what you were doing, you rushed forward and hugged him, pressing yourself firmly against his chest.
“Oh! Y/N..?” You could hear the surprise in his voice, he hadn’t expected you to hug him, but he quickly wrapped his arms around you in return. He noted to himself that it was a man’s job to comfort a girl in distress, and he was determined to do just that. Even if he wasn’t exactly sure how.
“I’m..so scared…” you cried, feeling the weight of the situation upon you. “I don’t..wanna die..” “Hey, c’mon...it’s alright, you know? D-don’t cry…” He tried his best to comfort you, but he wasn’t sure exactly what to say. Still, his words and his presence managed to calm you enough, and allowed you to take in your situation.
“...!” The realization that you had just walked up to Mondo and hugged him unprompted hit you like a turn of bricks. Your face turned bright red with embarrassment as you pulled away. “I-I’m sorry…!”
You looked down at your hands, too embarrassed to make eye contact with him. Mondo turned away too, as a blush began to cover his face as well.
“Tch, it’s no big deal,” he scoffed, trying to play it cool. “Besides, it’s not like I minded…”
You heard him mutter something under his breath, so you asked, “Huh?”
“I didn’t fuckin say anything…!” His blush deepened as he spoke.
“...”
“Anyways...you don’t gotta cry anymore, or feel scared, alright?” There was a confidence in his words, like he was certain in what he said.
“What do you mean…?”
“I’m gonna make you a promise, as a man!” There was a smile on his lips and a light in his eyes that you hadn’t seen before.
“A promise...as a man?”
“Hell yeah! It’s the one thing my big bro always told me! He said that no matter what, a real man always keeps his promises. Always. So, I’m gonna make you a promise as a man: I’ll protect you, and we’ll escape this school together, no matter what,” Mondo promised earnestly. “Okay?”
“O-okay..”
“Good! You can trust me when I make that promise, so now you don’t gotta cry, or feel scared, see?” He was still smiling, and by the time he finished his sentence, you were too. You hugged him again, pressing your body against his once more.
“Thank you, Mondo, I really do feel better,” you told him honestly. With the Ultimate Biker Gang Leader on your side, you felt completely safe and reassured.
Without warning, Monokuma appeared before the two of you.
“Ah!” You exclaimed, breaking apart from the embrace. Mondo quickly stepped in front of you, protectively.
“Monokuma...I’ll rip ya to shreds!” He roared, clearly irritated.
“Mondooooo!” Monokuma sang cheerfully. “It’s standing up!”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Mondo shot back.
“Come onnn!” Monokuma replied in the same cheerful tone. “Do ya even hafta ask?!”
As he realised what Monokuma meant, Mondo blushed for the third time that day.
Monokuma didn’t wait for a reply, and continued on. Your flagpole! It’s standing up!”
“Get the fuck outta here!” Mondo shouted, and unexpectedly, Monokuma listened and left the room.
“Standing up…? Flagpole…?” You muttered, confused, which only seemed to make Mondo blush harder. “What did he mean?”
“Tch, w-who the hell knows?! I-I mean, that bear’s fucking insane! A total psycho freak, ya know!”
“Yeah, you’re right,” you agreed, before taking a quick glance at the clock on the classroom wall. “It’s nearly nighttime…”
“Hey, how ‘bout I walk you back to your dorm?” Mondo suggested, having calmed down.
“Sure, I’d like that,” you replied.
And so, the two of you made your way through the halls of Hope’s Peak Academy together. Although you were still scared by the killing school life, Mondo had made a promise to you, and you found comfort in that promise.

Thank you so much for enjoying our other prompts like the dr2 boys with the scenario you requested. I hope that you’ll enjoy the dr2 girls with this same prompt just as much! Seriously thank you so much for your patience and support, I tried to make these a bit longer than the scenario with the boys since there was such a long wait on them so I hope that this will make the wait worth it!

DR2 Girls with a baker that stress makes and eats buttercream
Mahiru
While Mahiru tended to scold you for not taking care of yourself she never would have a time where she wouldn’t worry about you.
It was just in her nature to want to care for you and to help you out when she could and without meaning to could baby you even at times.
That was just how she was and while she expected you to eat the frosting you’d make for your delectable cakes she hadn’t imagined that you were stress eating it.
She happened to chance upon you partaking in this habit in the middle of the night when she went up to get a glass of water and immediately understood only then.
There was no cake in sight. Just you and a big bowl of frosting looking upset as you shoveled some more into your mouth.
Jeez, she really couldn’t help but think you looked cute right now but at the same time, she was worried more than ever.
Moving to wrap her arms around you she exhales a breathy sigh, feeling as if she could cry just knowing that you didn’t want to rely on her.
“S/o, I’m sorry if you’re going through anything but I’m here for you. If you need anything you can rely on me.”
She’d be firm on her stance waiting for you to move away from the bowl to pull you into a big hug, letting you bury your face in her chest or the crook of her neck as she runs her hands through your hair, gently shushing you.
“It’s alright, S/o. I’m here, you can rely on me more than you can on some frosting.”
Peko
Like Mahiru, Peko is rather smart. It’s just when it comes to emotions her knowledge may be lacking.
That’s why it was so hard for her to tell what was going on though. She had recognized early on that you definitely had a sort of reliance on eating frosting when you seemed upset but she couldn’t understand why.
All she could deduce is that it could be that you can’t rely on her or don’t want to and it drove her mad. She wanted to be helpful to the person she loved but if they don’t even want to rely on her then what should she do?
Rather than agonize over it for the rest of the week she decided she’d take initiative this time. Deciding to ambush the next time she happened to hear you using the mixer in the kitchen to whip up some more of your favorite sugary goodness.
“S/o?” Peko calls out, leaning in the archway to the kitchen, her usual stoic expression greeting you when your eyes meet.
She could tell she startled you from the way that your eyes met but instead of giving up, she decided to take a step closer to you, putting her hands on your shoulders to force you to look at her.
“S/o, I know you may not want to rely on me but please listen. I vowed I’d protect you when we became involved and I want to hold onto that promise. Please allow me to be the sword at your side, the one that will cut through all of your problems and protect you at any cost.”
Ibuki
Ibuki may not be the brightest tool in the shed but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t observant. Her ears were as good as ever so it wasn’t hard for her to pick up on this habit of yours.
Anytime you looked upset she’d end up hearing the mixer in the kitchen come to life to mix up another batch of buttercream frosting for you to indulge in.
Ibuki knew it wouldn’t be good to continue like that though so she wanted to cheer you up herself to show you that you don’t need to stress eat to feel better. She was right here and would do whatever it takes to help you out.
Ibuki does like to go out and go all out she shall! She had been working on the buttercream song as she called it for a while and was pumped to surprise you with it. As soon as she heard that mixer call out for her she knew it was her cue so with a loud yell that she’s coming in, Ibuki was there with a guitar in her hands ready to serenade you.
She didn’t wait for any reaction despite smiling at you the whole time she played. Even as she finished she didn’t let you get a word in before she could set her guitar down and throw her arms around you squeezing you nice and tight as she gave you one of her signature smiles as she presses a million kisses to your cheeks.
“Ibuki love love loves you! You can always trust her so you don’t need to rely on buttercream! Just use the buttercream song instead. Ibuki guarantees it’ll always make you feel better!”
Hiyoko
Despite Hiyoko demanding a lot of others and being a bully to them. She was always sweet as sugar when it came to you. You were the one person to get past her walls and to see the insecure and lonely girl she was deep down so she was almost never apart from you.
However, that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t notice the habit you had picked up for when you were down.
She was childish and bratty sure, but you were her number one and she couldn’t believe that you wouldn't want to rely on her the way she did on you.
Hiyoko takes most interactions as some sort of attack or something to use as ammunition when she wants to lash out but for her to notice that you always had a bowl of buttercream in the fridge even when you had no cakes and noticed it slowly disappearing every day you seemed a little down she’d break down crying right then and there.
You’d have to lean down to pull her into your arms as she whines about how you didn’t rely on her and how unfair it is, not bothering to enlighten you as to what happened until she’s calmed down.
Demanding you to pull it out of the fridge she’d examine the bowl just to end up pouting at you more than she had been before. She was right and she knew it. She wanted to be mad but when she saw that embarrassed look on your face she hesitated, opting to set down the bowl instead on the nearby counter as she pulls your arms so that they’re firmly around her again.
“You know I care about you...so I’m not mad or anything it’s just that...that I wanted you to rely on me. You wouldn’t like it if I relied on gummies instead of you right!? So just keep holding onto me. I’ll make the bad feelings go away soon!”
Mikan
Mikan loved to care for others so like Mahiru she recognized what was happening almost instantly.
She quickly could identify your triggers that made you want to stress eat before you even realized you had a problem even. That was how much she paid attention to you and she wanted you to know it.
She wasn’t nearly as confrontational as people like Mahiru or Peko but she could tell something was wrong and wanted to let you know that she did want you to rely on her and that she was glad to support you.
Waiting patiently until she sees your triggers acting up again she asks you rather suddenly if she can hold you, not mentioning the buttercream stuff until she feels that you seem calmer.
“S-S/o...um can I talk to you about s-something?” Mikan squeaks out, looking concerned before you agree with a nod of your head.
“W-well I...I know it may upset you to hear it but I...I noticed that you st-stress eat buttercream whenever you g-get stressed.”
Taking a moment to glance at you to see how you’re processing this she allows herself one shaky breath before wrapping her arms around you more tightly, pulling you into her.
“Um...and I...I want you to k-know that I’m here for you so if you d-don’t mind relying on me I’d like you to. It’d b-be healthier and um...I can always try to make you f-feel better if you need me to.”
Hesitating once more, she takes a long moment to listen to your reply before smiling at you through worried tears and pressing a big kiss to your lips.
“I p-promise I’ll take g-good care of you, S/o! I’ll always do whatever I can to make you feel good!”
Chiaki
Chiaki is certainly not as unobservant as her sleepy nature may make her seem. She was a sharp one so piecing together that you had this habit wasn’t hard for her.
Though that may also have been because whenever she’d take a nap she’d often wake up to find you eating some frosting in the kitchen or making some fresh buttercream to eat later in case you get stressed then.
Like Hiyoko, she was a bit frustrated you wouldn’t rely on her and definitely puff her cheeks out in a big pout whenever she’d wake up to hear you doing it again instead of telling her what was wrong but she wasn’t about to throw a fit over it.
Instead, she’d corner you the next time you try to get some when she’s supposed to be napping to check up on you. It’d be a stealth mission for her.
Going to “nap” as she so often did you thought nothing of it as she went to lay down on the couch. You waited a while before trying to get up in the hopes of heading to the kitchen to partake in some of your sugary sweet vice when Chiaki’s “sleeping” form grabbed onto your wrist.
“Hey,  where are you going S/o?” Chiaki asks calmly looking up at you with sleepy eyes.
You knew you couldn’t lie to her and decided that would have to be when you finally opened up which just prompted Chiaki to sit up.
Pulling you into a hug she rubs her hand up and down your back reassuringly as she admits that she already knew about your problems with frosting though she was happy that you were honest with her.
“I know that it can be hard, S/o but I’m always here for you. You can always hold onto me and take a nap or talk to me.”
Akane
Akane wasn’t the most observant person unless it came to food so it’d be easy to assume that it’d take her a while to catch onto you.
However, that was the complete opposite. Anytime you seemed down and she happened to smell buttercream on your breath or taste it when you kissed she’d give a confused expression only to fall for your usual excuse that it was just to test the frosting for another cake of yours.
However, whenever she looked around the kitchen after hearing such a thing you never had any progress towards any cakes at all. There were only complete ones or spare ingredients but never more cake for her to stuff her face with and it made it all the more obvious that something was amiss here.
Rather than go for the frosting eating issue she wanted to know why there weren’t any cakes ever when you said there were. Sitting in a chair closeby as you worked on another one of your yummy creations, Akane forced herself to hold back her drool as she asked you straight forward what was going on.
“Hey, S/o? Where are those cakes you say you’re always baking? I’ve never seen em but you always tell me you have more baking!”
Without meaning to she had cornered you. There was no getting out of it easily so you had to admit to her what was really going on and in turn have to watch her smile be replaced by a concerned look.
“S/o! I’ve been right here! Dontcha think you could rely on me a little!?”
Her outburst didn’t help your mood when you felt that she wouldn’t understand but rather than go on to make you feel worse by going on she decided it’d be best to pull you into the biggest and strongest hug she could muster, crushing you against her chest as she pressed a sloppy kiss to the top of your head.
“Just you watch S/o I’m gonna keep getting stronger so you can rely on me! You don’t need to eat frosting unless it’s the leftovers from when you frost me a big cake to eat after I beat up all of your problems!”
Sonia
Even if Sonia wasn’t accustomed to living the same way you did, she was enamored enough by you to want to try to learn.
She’d often end up watching you bake and frost your cakes so she was always confused by all the leftovers you had even if at first all she could do was put a finger to her chin to think on this perplexing factor.
It wasn’t until a week of high stress that she had her suspicions confirmed that you were stress eating and that’s when she knew she’d have to take action.
You were hers and because of that, there was no way she could allow you to rely on something like frosting when she could provide far more in terms of support of the financial kind or emotional kind. If you needed her she’d be there to hold you and make you feel better.
Deciding that it’d be best to ask you when she was enjoying her usual hobby of watching you in your element she waited patiently to ask you if she could join you once again, smiling warmly to really seal the deal.
She had made herself comfortable, sitting on a stool at the kitchen counter as she looked to you with that same smile from before.
“S/o, may I ask you a question?”
Used to her many questions you didn’t bat an eye at her sudden wish to ask something of you. In fact, you had brushed it off as nothing other than a question of how you made your buttercream.
Boy were you wrong. Before you could even prepare yourself Sonia had already loudly and clearly asked, “Why do you eat buttercream frosting when you’re stressed?”
You could tell she was concerned and didn’t mean any offense from the tone of her voice but for a while you couldn’t think of anything to say, just staring at her vacantly.
Taking your silence as an opportunity to continue Sonia stands from her position at the counter to move behind you now, wrapping her arms around you comfortingly as she pressed a small kiss to the crook of your neck.
“I’m terribly sorry if my question surprised you, S/o but I can’t allow you to keep relying on icing when I can support you myself! I’ll take it upon myself as a princess and your lover to protect you and to support you however I can.”

can prom giv a detailed post as to why they ( he?/she? ) love naegirigami so much bc i have joined th ( messy ) series of danganronpa nd fell n luv with OG trio aftr luvng naegiri fr so lng, nd i feel tht th trio dmt get enuf luv n general. so ye or nay?
You can pick whatever pronoun you'd like to call me by!
And yes I can tell you why I like naegamigiri, my favorite ot3 like ever!
So actually when I finished the first game I only really shipped naegiri (I was 11 tho so this was before I even knew what a gay couple was LMAO) but when I saw them at the end of dr2 I just immidetly fell in love with the idea of them both dating Naegi.
This is mostly because you can really see what a power trio they become in the short amount of time we see them. Not to mention how Togami has gone soft (he'd never make arguments like "aren't those your friends?" before, theres also the end of udg where hes got this super soft smile while video chatting Naegi).
I think there's a lot of really good dynamic that comes with both naegiri and naegami, so I guess you could say that I just...can't pick one ship!
Togami and Kirigiri in a way share a lot in common with how they interact with Naegi, except Togami expresses emotions through anger while Kirigiri expresses emotions through indifference.
They both take an interest in Naegi early on in the game, they both see that he is capable, they both like his presence but don't really show it, and they both warn him about who he should trust.
Naegi also takes interest in them early on and respects them both early on and cares throughout the game.
I mean..they honestly just work so well as a team too. They really are the power trio of the series imo. Naegi also always seemed like the foundation for them both to loosen up and become more trusting and understanding people, and with the world having ended there's no societal standards to keep them from sharing a boyfriend!
Also...I really wish Togami was with them for dr3 ;;
There's definitely more I could say, I know I could speak for hours about Togami or Kirigiri alone but I just....like it! They bring out the best in each other

So a while back I signed up for a Secret Santa event hosted by my good friend @jitters-box, and this is what I wrote for @kravanya! This was my first time doing a thing like this, and I had a lot of fun!
The whole IBVS/Danganronpa crossover thing is not my original idea. IBVS and this AU/idea belongs to @onebizarrekai. To be honest, I don’t think what I wrote would go down in this AU, but this was kinda inspired by the third trial in dr2, where the person I least expected to be a killer actually was the blackened (that’s really all I can say without spoiling it, ahah).
Anyways, here you go!
Warnings: mentions of murder and suicide, death, execution by burning
“Dreeewwww Jovel!”
Nevin felt his whole world shatter into pieces. He couldn’t believe it. He refused to believe it! Drew would never kill someone, he wouldn’t! He felt angry tears prick at his eyes, his hands gripping at his stand. His breath caught in his throat, and he could barely choke out his words.
“NO!”
His scream pierced the air, and everyone turned to face him. Nevin couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down his face, his body shaking from his sobs.
“It’s a lie,” the emo blubbered. “It’s a lie. It’s got to be. Drew, tell them. Tell them you didn’t kill Edward. Please.”
Drew looked solemn, avoiding Nevin’s pain-filled gaze. His fists clench, his own eyes filling with tears. “I’m sorry, Nev,” he whispered, voice filled with regret.
Nevin’s face drained of color. “It… so you really did do it?”
Drew nodded. “It wasn’t intentional. Ed came into my room, I was in the bathroom… I panicked, and attacked him with my shower rod. I guess I hit him harder than I thought, cause he was nearly dead. I just dragged him back to his room and...finished the job, y’know?”
“And you made it look like a suicide,” Chris finished.
“Yeah,” Drew nodded. “I was scared, I wasn’t thinking back then. I never wanted to put any of you in more danger than we already are… especially you, Nev.”
“Then why bother with the whole suicide cover up?” Isaac asked. “I mean, we figured out it wasn’t suicide pretty easily, thanks to the Monokuma file.”
“So you guys wouldn’t shift the blame to Nevin,” Drew answered.
“What?” Isaac blinked in confusion. Chris’ face scrunched into an almost similar expression, until he remembered back to the trial, where they were discussing the Monokuma file; Barry had been the one to point out that even though Edward was found hanging from a noose in his room, the file had said someone had stuck him with two hard blows to the head, and later on in the trial where someone had attempted to accuse Nevin before anyone heard his alibi.
“Because of how Ed died,” Chris realized. “You knew we would try to accuse Nevin of the crime because of the cause of death, so you messed with the crime scene so we wouldn’t vote for him as the killer.”
“Exactly,” Drew nodded. “Don’t get me wrong, I want to leave as much as all of you do. But if I have to sacrifice my own brother to leave, I’d rather just stay here.”
“Drew-” Nevin tried to protest.
“There’s no use arguing, Nev,” Drew sighed. “What’s done is done. Besides, it’s not like I’d survive this killing game anyways.”
“But I can’t lose you,” Nevin choked out, grasping onto Drew. “You’re all that I have left. Don’t let that damned bear—”
Drew grasps his brother’s hands, for what would be the final time. Nevin looked at Drew, tears of what was a mix of anger and despair in his eyes. To his shock, Drew was smiling at him.
“I’ll be okay,” Drew smiled. “You’ll be okay. You’ll get outta here, Nev.”
“But-” Nevin started to protest, but then he felt Drew slip something in his hand. A note.
Wait until you’re alone, Drew mouthed silently to his brother, just before Monokuma interrupted. Nevin couldn’t hear a word of what the black-and-white bear was saying until…
“I’ve prepared a very special punishment for Drew Jovel, the Ultimate Lucky Student!”
“No, please!” Nevin begged. “Don’t kill him! Take me instead! I’m begging you!” But no matter how much he screamed, the bear ignored his despair-filled pleas.
“Let’s give it everything we’ve got!” Monokuma cackled. “IIIIIIT’S PUNISHMENT TIME!”
Nevin stood there, shaking, crying, but Drew smiled, albeit sadly.
“Goodbye, everyone,” Drew said, his voice cracking slightly. “Who knows? Maybe we’ll meet again, in another lifetime.”
As Drew uttered what would be his final words, the floor opened up underneath him, and he fell. Nevin reached for his hand, but it was too late. Drew fell right in the middle of a strange box, with unfamiliar walls, which were an eyebleeding yellow. Drew tried to get up, but for some reason it felt like his bones and blood were made of lead.
And then he felt burning.
He looked up. Monokuma was holding a giant magnifying glass, the sun shining through it, right on his skin. It hurt, it hurt so much, he couldn’t help but scream in agony. The pain was excruciating, he wanted it to stop, why wouldn’t it stop?
Then the floor fell, and he was dunked in frigid water. Drew could feel his body go into shock, and he was in too much pain already to swim. He was ready to succumb to the frigid waters when a spear plunged right through his heart.
Drew jolted, and then went completely still, eyes wide open as he sunk down to the bottom, the Ultimate Lucky Student having, ironically, run out of luck.
Meanwhile, in the courtroom, Nevin’s unholy screams of utter despair echoed through the whole room.

DR2 boys with a S/O who’s on the chubbier side and is a insecure about it? I love this blog by the way!
Sdr2 boys with a S/O who's insecure about their body!
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu
Fuyohiko was never really in tune with others' emotions, or his own.
He didn't really pick up on how self conscious you were until one night you spelt it all out for him when you were drunk
After that, he tried to find ways to comfort you when you looked upset about your body.
"Don't say that shit about yourself, (Y/N)" he said suddenly, looking at you.
"You're not fat or ugly or whatever the fuck you keep thinking you are. You aren't. You're so beautiful"
He kissed you, holding you close.
"I'm not good at talking about this shit… about confidence or whatever… but you're fucking stunning to me."
"And please let me know if you feel upset about your body. I'll tell you this all again, you know. And… find shit to help you feel better"
He truly did mean the best, yet had problems verbalizing it.
He started to throw in more bashful compliments towards you whenever you looked nervous.
"Your hair is nice today" "I love your smile" "that outfit looks pretty on you"
He wasn't used to helping others with emotional help, but was more than willing to learn
Gundham Tanaka
Gundham never really cared about the size or shape of your mortal vessel.
That's why he was caught off guard when, before your date night, you said that you were afraid your dress made you look bad
"My gorgeous majesty, why do you think that?" He asked, taking your hand
You were starting to cry as he pulled you into his arms.
"My love, how about instead of going out, I pamper you at home?"
You nodded shakily
He bought take out and put on your favorite shows and brought the devas to cuddle with you.
He kissed you all over and over, something which he didn't normally do.
He didn't often initiate touch with you (or anyone) but did love it when you did hold each other close.
"My (Y/N)?" He asked after a while
"Yes?"
"I… don't understand something about your mortal ways…"
"What do you mean?"
"How could someone like you feel so much shame for your body? Your body will not follow you to the afterlife, it is just a mere vessel for your spirit."
You listened to his musing quietly. You weren't sure what to say, and he just kept going.
"Especially someone whose beauty rivals those of the vessels of succubi and incubi"
"I... I don't know, Gundam…"
"And… My love… If you ever do feel this way again, tell me so I may treat you like the diety you are"
Hajime Hinata
Hajime was always self-conscious, being in such a great school with no talent to speak of.
He was able to pick up on your unease when he spent time with you and the others before any of the others.
"Hey, (Y/N)? Are you alright? You look… upset"
You told him you were fine and didn't want to talk about it
"Well… if you need to, you have my phone number, ok?"
A few weeks later around midnight, you needed to talk about it.
You called him, sobbing your heart out.
"H-hey, hey! Calm down, okay? What's wrong?"
You let your emotions spill. About how you felt large and ugly, and the sore thumb of the group.
He listened to you talk for hours, comforting you the whole time.
"Don't worry, (Y/N). No one thinks you're any worse looking, ok? I know that me just saying that won't cure all of your anxieties, but.. I hope it helps"
Whenever you looked anxious, he would pull you aside and help you calm down, telling you how no one saw you any differently than any of your peers
You two started to hang out on your own after a while, and you slowly felt yourself gaining feelings for him.
You ended up asking him out, and he told you that he actually loved you too.
It was so lovely to spend time with him
He loved giving you gifts and often showered you with compliments
Imposter (Byakuya)
Byakuya noticed how nervous you looked in your dress/tux during date night at a fancy restaurant.
"What's wrong, (Y/N)?" He asked with his cold voice
"I don't know, Byakuya… I just don't feel comfortable in this. It makes me look to… big…" you kept your eyes down
He got a waitress quickly and got the food packed in boxes and left with you.
"Come along, (Y/N). We should go somewhere quieter"
You followed him, quietly asking "are you mad at me? I'm sorry"
"Of course I'm not mad, there's nothing to be sorry for. Let's talk"
He sat down on a bench and you sat next to him. He looked you in the eyes.
"(Y/N), don't ever be ashamed of yourself. If you don't like your appearance you can change it to be one you love, but being heftier or traditionally unattractive is nothing to be ashamed of."
"And if it makes you feel any better, I think you look amazing… but that's the thing. You shouldn't listen to me, or anyone else. No one decides how you should love yourself but you"
Byakuya knew he should have listened to his own words, but he had no identity to begin with with…
You guys went home early that night and spent the night at home together.
After that, Byakuya started to go shopping with you more and helped you find clothes that you felt nicer in
He wanted you to feel comfortable in your own body
He wanted you to feel comfortable with your own identity.
Kazuichi Soda
Soda loved every single thing about you, including your body
He loved showering you in gifts and praise, especially about your body after he found out you were so self conscious
He would compliment you every single day about something new
It never felt forced or fake, either.
It was all genuine and from the heart
He always did what he could to cheer you up when you were upset. He made you a few little toys to help keep you distracted by intrusive thoughts when you were alone
Whenever you went clothes shopping together, he would shower you with compliments.
"Are you sure this doesn't make me look… big?"
"Of course not! Why would I lie to you, (Y/N)? It makes you look cute/handsome, just like normal"
"It does?"
"Of course"
When you were at home together, Soda loved holding you close, wrapping his arms around your waist and just staying like that for a while, rambling to you.
"I love you, (Y/N)."
He knew that you wouldn't be instantly happy with yourself or your body, yet he wanted to help
Nagito Komaeda
Even before he was in a relationship with you, Nagito could tell you were always a bit anxious
He was a friend of yours for a few years before you finally asked him out
You both started to open up to each other a lot more
Nagito started staying at your house for longer periods of time, too.
One day, you just started crying to him.
Crying about how you hated your body
He just held you close and rubbed your back
When you finished ranting, he whispered soft, sweet words in your ears.
Words about how beautiful your body is, how sweet and kind and generous you are.
After that, he would make sure to check on you when you looked upset.
He would go out of his way to compliment you more than normal.
You both had the habit of talking bad about yourselves, and heIp catch each other before either of you get to upset
When his luck was causing problems and he didn't want to be around you, you would talk to each other for hours on the phone
It was really comforting to know that you were never alone when you needed love.
Nekomaru Nidai
Nekomaru was always concerned about your health
To you, it was a shock someone as fit as him would ask you out on a date, and then another after, and became your boyfriend
You had honestly assumed it was some sick trick, or out of pity
One day, while you were walking together, you decided to ask.
"How could you like someone like me, Nekomaru? I'm just… ugly"
He looked at you in shock before sitting down under a tree, patting the grass next to him
"Why would you think that you're ugly, (Y/N)? Even if you're on the larger side, it doesn't make you look worse than others!"
"But you care so much about health, and I don't look healthy"
He let out a hearty, loud laugh. "BMI is bullshit, (Y/N)! Lots of healthy people have high BMIs, and some of your ability to lose weight is in your genes!"
His laugh warmed your heart. You just smiled at him.
"And if you do want to feel healthier, then you're doing all the right things! Taking these walks with me, drinking and eating everyday, pacing yourself, even getting out of bed on hard days"
He ruffled your hair, smiling.
You two sat there for a little while, staring at the sky before getting back up and finishing your walk
He would give you more opportunities to join his exercises or design routines for you if you were concerned about your health
On his break days, you would both cuddle up on the couch and watch TV, snacking on whatever, not caring about all the little calories.
Teruteru Hanamura
Teruteru honestly had a bit of a preference for larger bodies
Not to a point of it being a fetish, of course. He just found them pretty.
That being said, he didn't fall for you for your body.
He knew your body made you anxious, so he showered you with praise and love.
He liked doing so in public to see how flustered you'd get,
but if it made you really uncomfortable, he would mostly keep affection at home, throwing in just a little bit of PDA when he felt particularly playful
Every day he would ask you what you wanted for dinner
Some days you would sheepishly say that you wanted something, but were afraid it would make you look larger
After assuring you that being large wasn't a bad thing, he would make you what you wanted.
His food always cheered you up when you felt self-conscious

PINNED POST / ABOUT
Hello~ You may call me Strawberry ❤ I love writing, particularly the dirty kind. I also enjoy digging into the angsty psychology of characters 💔 I mostly write longer oneshots, and occasionally bust out a multichapter piece! My updates tend to be a little sporadic and I juggle multiple WIPs, so if you like what I do, the Subscribe button on here and AO3 is going to be your friend! I usually do end up finishing fics, even if it takes me a while to get there!
I don't ordinarily take requests (unless I make a post specifically asking for a few)! However, I'm almost always open for hearing suggestions, on the off chance a prompt inspires me! Basically, have fun throwing ideas at me, and maybe we can even chat a little bit! Just please don't expect a fic unless you get very lucky and fuel my impulses ❤
My interests are vast and liable to change with the wind, so to gauge if I'm familiar with something, your best bet is either to check what I've written on AO3, or just ask me here! I don't bite!
That said, here are my most solid fandoms, and some I'm just really into at the moment!
Long Term/Most frequently written:
P/ersona 5 (the original vanilla game)
D/anganronpa (T/HH anime and game, S/DR2 game, and the IF novel. I'm still working through the other two games, the Zero novel, and the anime series')
K/akegurui (anime only)
Other things I like a lot:
A/lice in Borderland (Netflix series only)
AI: The S/omnium Files
B/lack Butler / K/uroshitsuji (Anime only: S1, S2, and Book of Circus)
B/ayonetta
B/eastars (anime only)
C/itrus (anime only)
R/epo!The Genetic Opera
DC characters in general (specifically from the B/atman universe, Y/oung Justice, and D/oom Patrol live action. But you could just ask about anyone or anything and I'll tell you if I know and/or enjoy it!)
~~~
I suppose I'll also list the 'subjects' I tend to write about. If there's another you'd be curious to see, feel free to ask! At best it'll inspire me, and the worst I'll say is a polite no~ We don't kinkshame here 😎
Piss: in MANY ways (softcore/sfw fluff and hurt/comfort, hardcore smut/watersports, bsdm, abdl, and most stuff inbetween.)
Petplay
BDSM
Knifeplay
Gunplay
Dub/noncon
Darkfic
Humiliation
I swear I write Fluff and Healthy Relationships too! Sometimes c':
That's all I can really think of to put in a pinned post to be honest! Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
SDR2 Girls Finding Their S/O Dead
“If it isn't too much may I request the SDR2 and v3 girls finding their S/O dead?”
Yay, finally writing for some DR2 girls!! I’m so glad this was requested, I can’t wait to start! Story under the tag! Warning: All of these deaths are probably medically wrong, but I tried my hardest
Chiaki Nanami
You and Chiaki didn’t talk until the night of the party
You had asked her what game she was playing on her handheld, and both of you were delighted to know that you had a common interest in it
But when the lights went out and Togami’s body was discovered, you were both quick to help find clues and get alibi’s from everyone
From then on out, you guys were always together, whether it be playing games together or just lounging in silence while each of you does your own thing
So when you didn’t show up to breakfast with Chiaki, everyone was suspicious, and those suspicions were doubled when Chiaki revealed that you hadn’t come to her beach house last night like you usually did
Everyone quickly split up to find you, Chiaki checking around with Hajime
No one saw a clue of you until Chiaki and Hajime made it to the airport, where they saw a horrific sight
Your body, propped up against a planter, blood staining the collar of your shirt
Your girlfriend immediately ran over, hands hovering over the multiple small puncture wounds in your neck
While Hajime ran to gather others, she looked at your body, careful not to disturb a single thing. Who would do this to you? Everyone seemed to be perfectly fine with you!
Everyone rushed in, multiple shouting your name and Chiaki’s
Everyone started searching for clues while Mikan checked the body
The room was practically spotless besides the blood pooling over your shirt
Mikan had confirmed that your cause of death was choking on blood due to multiple stab wounds to the neck with an incredibly small weapon
Hajime took alibis while Chiaki left to check your beach house
It was locked like it was earlier when they went to find you, so she quickly called for Monokuma to let her in
 The place was spotless, like it usually was since you slept over at her place
She looked over it one more time when she found a note on the bookshelf, surprised she missed it earlier
Chiaki picked it up and read it, the piece of paper simply saying that they needed your help, and to meet them at the airport after dinner
Who needed your help? Why didn’t you tell her before you went, just in case something happened?
Knowing you, you trusted your friends enough to think this outcome would’ve never happened.
Chiaki heard the trial announcement ring out, and quickly put the note in her jacket pocket, walking to the beach
When the trial started, they brought up the obvious things, the note, and the unusual wounds you suffered
They went through each alibi, slowly realizing they didn’t have much to go on since everyone went on their own ways after dark.
That is, until Fuyuhiko came up and confessed he saw a figure head up that way before going to the beach, and seeing you walk over a few minutes later
He gave the fuzzy details he had, and Chiaki and Hajime were able to pinpoint who’s alibi and looks matched up.
“Mikan...did you do this?”
Mikan started blubbering, saying she was too weak to do it, too fragile to commit a murder
But when the evidence started being laid on heavier, she snapped.
Mikan began cussing everyone out for bullying her, even those who hadn’t, demanding that she was the true victim
She confessed how she lured you there and had actually asked you to help her commit a crime on others, thinking you wouldn’t say no
When you refused, she had threatened you, and when you still refused, and even attempted to walk away, she snapped, pulling out a syringe and stabbing you multiple times in the neck until you fell, bleeding out.
Everyone watched as Mikan broke down crying, saying that she only killed you because everyone else was so mean to her.
Sadly, that doesn’t save a revealed blackened, and everyone watched as she was dragged away screaming, to her doom
Chiaki watched through winced eyes as Mikan was executed, quickly leaving after it was done and heading to her own dorm
She locked the door behind her and laid down on her bed.
Oh, how empty it felt without you by her side.
Akane Owari
Akane grew to love you practically the second she met you
She laid eyes on you and boom! Need for your attention acquired
You took longer to grow into the relationship, but when you did, the bond you guys had were strong
The only time you guys spent apart was when she was training with Nekomaru, as you took that chance to mingle with others around the island
So it wasn’t suspicious when she didn’t see you immediately after they finished their sparring
What was suspicious, however, was how the two of them didn’t see anyone
They walked around the main island, finding everyone at the diner
“Hey, is everyone having a party without us?”
Mahiru looked at both of them, eyes lingering on Akane
“You didn’t here the announcement? That’s why you guys were so late...”
“So late to what? Where’s Y/n?”
Akane saw Mahiru’s eyes shift to the kitchen and briskly pushed passed everyone in her way
She threw the door open and looked down, seeing you, knife in your chest and eyes covered by pink flowers
She started crying, yelling and pulling you onto her lap
She watched as the flowers fell from your eyes into your lap, already wilting from being cut
Everyone watched as Akane yelled, tears on her face showing a grievance no one should have to go through
Nekomaru crouched next to her, letting her cry on him, and eventually beat on his chest as her anger returned, now demanding for whoever had done this to her S/O to come clean so she can hurt them
When no one fessed up, she stormed out, walking aimlessly until she calmed down and returned, asking anyone for clues to the culprit
All they had had were some scuffs on the floor, a bruise on your ankle, and the flowers
Pink chrysanthemums, Fuyuhiko called them. Traditional flowers for funerals
The trial came, and no one looked hopeful
Any words that could be twisted against you got the speaker a glare from Akane
She listened as Hajime put together the evidence, slowly weeding out people from the suspects list
So when it came down to Peko, she connected it instantly
“The bruise on her ankle was mostly certainly from Peko’s bamboo sword, used to knock her down so you could land the final blow!” Hajime pointed at the prime suspect
It took every nerve in Akane’s body to not pummel Peko right then and there
Peko refuted intensely, trying to pull up evidence to point it at someone else
But that’s when she slipped, giving them a huge break in the case
Akane’s shoulder’s tensed, turning all of her attention to the accused
“Wait...you said that you were at the beach when this happened, but Komaeda saw you going in the direction of the diner, so your alibi is false!”
This earned a scream from Fuyuhiko, letting out a stream of curse words in a pitiful attempt to save his friend
But in the end, it was useless, Peko finally giving up and apologizing
Akane tried to jump over her stand and lunge at Peko, but the blackened was pulled away, causing Akane to hit empty floor.
They all watched as Peko was executed, Fuyuhiko crying the entire time
After it ended, they all went their separate ways, Akane  ignoring Nekomaru’s condolences as she turned her back, running to her dorm
As soon as her door shut she began sobbing, punching the wall
She didn’t care if anyone heard her
You were gone
Nothing could bring you back
Sonia Nevermind
When you two met, there was an instant connection
You guys realized you liked each other extremely quickly
Just like the rest of Sonia’s life, it was a fairy tale
If a fairy tale included Souda’s constant whining and nosebleeds when you two did anything intimate
But that fairy tale ended when your body was discovered, brutally beaten with a hammer in your own dorm
While everyone investigated, Sonia had shut down
Everything in her life had always been perfect, worry free
So why this? Now?
The feeling of despair only further sunk in when it came out that they had very little clues as to who had done this to you
The bat, a towel and a door with signs of forced entry were all they had to find their murderous friend
So once the trial started, it took what seemed like hours to Sonia for them to finally discover a lead
Everyone had initially suspected Souda, on the motive of his undying love for the ultimate princess
But then it turned to another boy, someone no one expected
“This towel had been used to soak up some of the blood, perhaps to stop it from dripping out of the door. But we found something quite unusual. Gundham, care to explain why there is hamster fur, stained red with blood, stuck to this towel?”
Gundham choked up at Hajime’s words, his heterochromatic eyes staring at him in disbelief
But he couldn’t find the words to stand up for himself, quickly making it clear what his role in this trial really was
And that was when he confessed
He too, had fallen for the princess, killing Y/n out of raw jealousy
The voting ended as quickly as it had come, and they all watched as Gundham perished, leaving behind his beloved Devas.
Sonia took them, cradling them in her arms as she walked back to her room, silently sobbing
Everything changed after you were gone
People noticed that the once outgoing teen was now meek and docile, having lost all her energy after her second half was taken away
Even Souda backed off, barely talking to her
Life had color when you were here
Now, her sight showed nothing but the grey, monotone life she now had to endure.
Hiyoko Saionji
No one believed Hiyoko could ever make a close friend with her foul mouth and matching attitude
But when they met you, and saw how you saw the good in everyone, they knew you could do it
seriously how did you see the good in komaeda tho
The first time you two actually walked was when you criticized her for mocking Mikan, quickly calming down the argument with your calm voice and sensitive words
You were the first one ever who had been able to defuse her, which made her stick to you like glue
Everyone seemed relieved, you had decreased the fights on the island drastically
And at the same time, you two grew every closer, inseparable after only a week
It was dark outside when it happened
You two were walking along the beach, filling the air with laughter and witty banter when you two saw a shadow approach from behind
You turned around first, her turning in time to see them hit you with something, causing you to fall back
Hiyoko let out a scream as the assailant grabbed the back of her kimono, and the world went black, the last thing being heard was the ocean crashing to shore, and the crunch of sand
When she woke up, she was being forcibly shaken by Ibuki, almost everyone surrounding her
As soon as she sat up Ibuki engulfed her in a hug
“Oh thank god Hiyoko is safe! Everyone thought you were dead too!”
Hiyoko shoved her off, standing up and wiping the sand from her clothes
“Get off me you nasty, good for nothi- wait, did you say ‘dead too?’
Everyone suddenly turned away except for Chiaki, who walked up next to her
“Y/n was attacked, I’m sorry.”
That was all she needed to hear before she ran off the beach, leaving Ibuki calling for her
She ran around the island, stopping when she saw a group in the park
She screamed your name, shoving through them before anyone could stop her
Laying in the grass curled up, was you.
She felt the contents of her stomach rise up, unable to take in the blood around your neck and fingers
She felt a hand on her shoulder, twisting around to see Mahiru, tears staining her cheeks
She let out a sob, burying her face into Mahiru’s stomach, not caring who heard her wails of anguish
She just lost the most important person in her life, why would she care about anything else?
She refused to look at the body, having Mahiru escort her to her room, where they stayed until it was trial time
As they stood in the circle, Hiyoko rubbed her burning eyes, tears long dried up and unable to produce more
As much as everyone hated it, they had to ask her what happened, all feeling guilt as she hiccuped and stuttered through the traumatic even all over again
She silently thanked them for leaving her alone for the rest of the trial, letting her merely listen to their statements
Then it came out that only one person has a weak alibi- Souda
The second they questioned him he cracked, stammering out an apology, explaining what happened
“I...I was going after Hiyoko! I thought I knocked out Y/n, but they attacked me when I tried to drag Hiyoko off...and I hit her again, but I think I hit her too hard...”
Hiyoko’s head snapped up at his words, the feeling of emptiness now being replaced by hot anger
“I panicked, and dragged her to the park in hopes that it would save me some time. I thought about going back and killing Hiyoko too, but what’s the point? She didn’t see me!”
Hiyoko wanted to march right up to him and punch him, but settled for screaming profanities and harsh insults towards him, resulting in him pulling his beanie even lower, trying to cover his eyes
She continued screaming until he was dragged away, where she collapsed onto the floor in a heap, exhausted
Nekomaru picked her up and turned her away from the execution, not wanting her to have to see the gruesome death of their friend
He carried her into the elevator and all the way back to her room, where Mahiru stayed with her for the rest of the night
She accepted Mahiru’s warmth as she started to fall asleep, but it could never replace the warmth of her own heart when she was with you.
Mahiru Koizumi
You and Mahiru didn’t get off to a great start
You two first interacted when you pulled her back from going off on Hajime when he first tried to introduce himself
She glared at you, spewing some ill-mannered words before storming off
You had thought that that was the end of it, until she pulled you aside at dinner and meekly apologized
After that, you two kept running into each other, before finally your relationship had blossomed into something more
It was after the second motive when it happened
You had played the game, quickly realizing what it meant
You two had a confrontation, ending in both of you yelling and storming off in different directions
That was the last time she ever heard from you
The next day she was dragged by Hajime to the beach house, where you were laying on your side, dead
Mikan had deduced that you had been strangled to death, the murder weapon being a wet suit, still laying by your deceased body
She lashed out at everyone who approached her, focused only on your body and glaring at others
She would occasionally let a few tears slip, wiping them away before anyone could see them
But a few did see them, horrifically aware of how their strong friend was breaking down
When the trial started, everyone expected Mahiru to be angry as ever, demanding justice for her s/o
But she stayed quiet, only looking through her camera
Somehow, this was more scary, surely leaving the blackened feeling terrible for their actions
Chiaki was the first to speak, stating the obvious about the case; the murdered, the location, and the weapon
This got the trial rolling, people throwing in and refuting evidence when deemed necessary
The whole time Mahiru stared into the screen on her camera, slowly flipping through photos of the two of you, analyzing the smiles on your faces, the way you two would pose and laugh together
She only snapped out of her daze when a shout erupted
“Like hell I’m the killer!”
Hajime pointed at Fuyuhiko, the Yakuza leader’s face now red and his body shaking
She watched intensely as Hajime laid the evidence out, turning everyone to his side of the debate.
Peko continued to stick by her friend’s side until he gave up, guilty eyes confessing to the heinous act
Fuyuhiko explained how he knew Mahiru played a part in killing his sister, and wanted revenge by turning her s/o against her
“I told her of the things Mahiru did, but she just...kept defending her. I got angry, and before I knew it I was hurting her, and I didn’t stop until she was dead.”
 He turned to Mahiru, tears in his eyes
“I am so sorry, Mahiru. If I could take it all back I would.”
All Mahiru could do was turn away, looking anywhere but at him
And thus, the execution started, Peko and Fuyuhiko sharing pained goodbyes before the blackened was dragged away to his fate
Mahiru watched the execution, no expression in her eyes as she watched the one who murdered her s/o die
After the execution they all went back to the surface, her going to the dining hall
She sat alone in the room, the only light coming from the camera she had in front of her
A picture of you sat on it, one you guys had taken on your first trip to the beach together. You laying in the sand laughing next to the sandcastle you two made together
Everything was perfect then
And now, all she had were painful memories
Mikan Tsumiki
She was one of the first to find you
When everyone started getting sick, you had been one of the ones infected, having caught the phobia disease
You were scared of everything, even your own girlfriend when she tried to help you
So you sat in your own hospital room along with the other patients, Mikan refusing to leave the building while she took care of her patients
But she had fallen asleep overnight, only waking up when the front door slammed open, Hajime, Gundham, and Hiyoko racing in
“No time to explain, we have to check on everyone!”
All four of them raced through each room, checking each ill student to make sure that they were safe
Until they got to your room, the door thrown open
And they all saw you, arms tied to the head of the bed, blood covering your stomach and staining the sheets under you
Mikan screamed, pushing past the other three and throwing herself at your side, checking your pulse and shaking your shoulders
Gundham announced that he was going to go get everyone and left, Hajime comforting Hiyoko in the hallway
The only thing she could hear was the body discovery announcement ring through the building, tears blurring her vision as she held onto your body
Slowly, everyone trickled in, shocked to see the scene playing out before them
They all jumped into investigation, Mikan quickly identifying the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to your stomach, almost passing out at all of the blood on your body
She sat in the hallway until the trial started, where Akane walked with her to make sure she was alright
During the trial everyone could tell she was shaken, her bursting into tears whenever they had to show photos of your body or ask her to speak
Everyone knew how much this hurt her, which make Hajime’s gut sink as he realized who the killer was
“The only reason we knew someone was hurt was because Gundham got a suspicious letter, right? But only one person’s alibi gives them a chance to write that note. I hate to say this but...Mikan, was it you?”
Akana and Souda immediately began scolding Hajime for accusing her, Mikan herself bursting into tears over his words
But Chiaki shut them down, asking them calmly to listen to Hajime’s words
Mikan continued crying, repeatedly stating how she wasn’t the killer, how much she loved you, and how her alibi was rock solid
But Hajime persisted, and everyone watched as Mikan’s demeaner went from sad and broken and angry and harsh
“There’s no way I killed Y/n! I loved them! You’re just trying to cover for yourself!”
Mikan slowly cracked, and everyone got to see her true colors
She screamed at Hajime, only stopping when Chiaki raised her voice at her to stop.
“Monokuma, may I ask something? Is Mikan sick too?”
Monokuma jumped for joy, gleefully stating that Mikan had the remembrance disease
They all turned to the nurse, watching as she panted and hugged herself
“I remember everything! I know what the world is like- I know what we’re in! I gave Y/n a way out, you should be thanking me!”
She began laughing, only repeating the words “I saved Y/n the trouble...”
And she continued until she was led away, turning back one final time to wave to her fellow classmates
“See you guys later.”
Ibuki Mioda
Ibuki was the one that started to like the other first, having introduced herself in her own bubbly manner
You two always only ran into each other, until she asked you for some feedback on a new song she was writing
After that, you two were inseparable, always creating wild memories, whether it be having a beach party of two or setting off fireworks
you almost caught Komaeda’s hair on fire but that’s besides the point
You two had planned a day to hang out in the music venue, as Ibuki was teaching you how to play some notes on the guitar
You both agreed to be there at noon, so Ibuki strolled in a little before that
“Y/n~! Mioda is in the house! You ready to get our jammy jam on?!”
She threw open the door smiling, expecting to see you sitting on the stage, feet dangling off of it like you usually were
Instead, she found you on the floor only a few feet from the doorway, blindfolded and beaten, tear tracks running out from under the covering on your eyes
Ibuki stared, wide eyed, and before she could even scream, she blacked out
When she woke up, many of her classmates were circling her, her head in Peko’s lap
Dazed, she sat up, asking everyone why they were having a sleepover, before seeing the look on everyone’s faces
Memories flooding back, Ibuki jumped up screaming your name, eyes darting to your body
She threw herself to the floor, ripping the blindfold off of you and cradling you in her arms, crying
“Y/n, come back to Ibuki, please! Ibuki needs you to wake up!”
The only response she got was your head rolling back, engraving the despair in Ibuki’s heart
She felt a hand on her shoulder, and looked up through blurry eyes to see a few of her classmates offering their condolences
Ibuki sniffled, looking at you before laying you back down, backing away from your corpse
She tried her best to help throughout the investigation, helping them find the weapon, a bat, in the storage closet
Even thought she was investigating, people could tell her mind was elsewhere, and everyone could guess where it was
It was on the memories of the two of you, all the crazy things you did that led to nights of cuddling and laughing afterwards
Once the investigation period was over, everyone walked to the elevator
Ibuki stayed back a few minutes, crouching down next to you and brushing the hair out of your face
Her last goodbye to you
Finally, she got up and left, looking back one more time before closing the doors to the music venue
When they all got to the beginning of the trial, everyone was put off by how quiet Ibuki was
It started off quietly as all the trials did, no one wanting to start a conversation about a deceased friend that would only lead to another one dead
But slowly, the conversation gained momentum, the group obtaining alibis and new clues from the crime scene
Slowly Ibuki started integrating herself into the conversation, determined to help solve your case
This trial had been a relatively quiet one, which is why it scared everyone when Ibuki suddenly shouted at the top of her lungs
“OMIGOD GUYS! Ibuki knows who did it!!”
Everyone stared at her stunned as she rambled off a ton of confusing sentences, before finally just yelling
“So it was Teruteru!”
Everyone immediately turned to Teru, watching as he stuttered and pulled at his shirt collar
“I have no idea what you’re talking about!”
That was when Chiaki gasped, simply saying, “The time of death!”
That’s when it clicked for Hajime, realizing that the time of death was at the exact gap in Teru’s alibi, Teru himself not even realizing it yet
All three of them laid the info out, causing Teru to break down and confess, stating that he just wanted to go home
They all voted after the confession, and watched as he gave his teary goodbye and was dragged off to the brutal execution
Ibuki didn’t watch, instead already walking towards the elevator so she could leave as soon as it was over
She left alone, making sure the doors shut before anyone else got on
Silently, she walked to the supermarket, grabbing a few things before she headed to the beach
A few people walking past saw her sitting on the sand, but didn’t dare bother her
Ibuki sat alone, watching the ocean as she lit off fireworks, remembering how you two would sit here covered in blankets, saying nothing as you watched the colorful light-show
She shivered
It was cold without you
Peko Pekoyama
Peko really thought you two were going to make it
After you two confirmed your relationship, she swore to protect you on the same level as her master
And she did, making sure any suspicious places were deemed safe and that any wounds you may suffer were properly cared for
You two always made it a habit to tell each other where you were, so when Peko realized that you weren’t in your said location, she began to panic
Expression remaining calm, she hurried around the island, not stopping when people tried to ask her where she was heading
She only stopped when she heard a scream, immediately turning towards the noise and sprinting
She raced towards the beach houses, running towards the dining hall
When she burst in the room, the sight alone made her sick to her stomach
Hiyoko was there crying, standing over your lifeless body
Peko ran over, falling to her knees and pulling you up, talking as if you would respond
“...Y/n? Please, get up...I need you to get up...please!”
Everyone else soon filed in, but Peko didn’t notice them
She continued to hold you, eyes closed as she held you as close as possible, as if it would bring you back
But it wouldn’t
Nothing would
She felt a hand on her shoulder, looking up to see Fuyuhiko
Letting her walls fall more, she got up and hugged him, holding onto him tightly as everyone investigated
She let her tears dry and sniffles stop, and eventually began helping with the search, stoic as ever
She stayed like that through the trial, listening as she let Hajime and Chiaki carry the conversation, glaring at Komaeda every time he made a snide comment about the crime
She had felt her hopelessness form into anger at hearing the murderer confess after being cornered
“I-I’m sorry! Ibuki didn’t mean it!”
Everyone turned to Peko, expecting her to lash out harshly at their blackened friend
Instead, they were greeted with the same cold Peko they were used to, somehow now being much more scary
“The only thing I’m sorry for is that I couldn’t protect Y/n before you killed them. I can’t say I’m sad to see you go, but I don’t speak for everyone.”
With that, Peko turned away from Ibuki, closing her eyes and allowing her breath to steady
She wanted to kill Ibuki, but she knew that wouldn’t be what you wanted
She listened as Ibuki gave shouted goodbyes, then her screams as she was dragged away and executed
Everyday after that, Peko seemed normal to everyone, only allowing a shadow of despair to cloud her when your name was said, and even then she quickly dispersed the darkness with a small comment on you or a swift topic change.
She couldn’t let her friends, especially Fuyuhiko, know how broken their loyal protector was.
What she didn’t know was that almost every night, anyone passing her dorm could hear the sniffles, or even sobs she gave through her door as she remembered what she had lost
You two were going to get out together.
Omigod. I finally finished one! I can’t believe this took me like what, three weeks?! I’ve been busy with a combination of school, writers block, and pure laziness, so I apologize for the late update! The next one is already halfway written, so I hope it gets out soon! Thank you :)
Hello!!! Could I request the dr2 boys showing their s/o something about their talent and then they slip up and accidentally give their s/o a black eye or somehow injuring them? S/o isn't angry at all though they laugh it off after their boy is done freaking out over them. Sorry if you've done it before or if it's too complicated!
This was adorable, and very fun to write! I only wrote four of the boys in question (Teruteru, Hajime, Nagito, and Souda) so a part one will come out soon, I just couldn’t finish it today because of time restraints.
- Modaca
Teruteru Hanamura
Admittedly, he had never needed to show off in front of anyone before. He would normally just let his food speak for itself, rather than trying to be flashy by flipping an egg a certain way or anything.
Not saying he didn’t know how, he used to mess around a lot before his mama had gotten sick when they cooked together.
Yet when his adorable S/O asked to watch him cook, he wanted to make it as entertaining as possible.
He did those fancy pancake flips, set onions in a shape of a volcano and did the classic fire in the volcano, when threw his utensils around.
His ego grew whenever they complimented him, and his normal concerns about safety slowly slipped away.
Not the basics like don’t leave the fire on or don’t throw knives, but what he had done was go to flip a pot in his hand after getting it out of the pantry.
While also not realizing how close they had gotten to try and help him if he was too short to reach.
Smack
Right in the eye.
“Oh my, S/O, I-I’m so sorry!” He had shouted, his accent coming out all too much in midst of his panic.
“This? This is just a little mark, don’t burn anything Teru.”
“But you’re still holding it! Please say you’re not bleeding. I’ll get the first aid kit.”
That’s when they started laughing, quickly taking their hand off their eye. “I’ll just get an ice pack, it isn’t bleeding or anything. You should keep going, I’m really looking forward to trying all of your dishes.”
Hajime Hinata
As we all know, he doesn’t have a talent, so he’s been experimenting and learning new things.
His S/O had been encouraging him the entire way, showing him talents that had been at the school in the past but weren’t in the school’s current roster.
“Ultimate clown... Are you serious?”
“I know, I thought that was Nagito’s talent, but it turns out it was an actual thing. So why don’t you start with juggling? I brought some oranges in my lunch for you to try. Just start with one.”
“Is it really juggling if there’s only one?”
“Work your way up.”
With only one, he had done quite well, he was very coordinated so they gave him a second orange to work with.
There was a bit of fumbling, he would manage to make one round but then accidentally drop one.
“Come on, Hajime! You can do it!” They had encouraged from where they were standing.
They thought they were a reasonable distance, just a couple feet but enough to still watch him clearly.
“Whoa that was a gr-”
Then they got an orange straight to the forehead, dramatically falling onto their butt afterwards.
“Shit- S/O, I’m sorry.” The orange that he had actually caught had quickly been discarded to the side as he came to their aid. “Are you okay?”
They were quick to laugh at him. “You’re so cute when you’re concerned about me.” They said, quickly kissing him before standing back up.
“Now, get the oranges. Keep going, Hajime!”
Nagito Komaeda
Actually showing off his luck wasn’t something that he could just do on command, it was too random to just show off.
He could rely on it to get out of certain situations, but on the same scale it usually came with terrible consequences.
So he wouldn’t purposefully show off, especially not to his S/O. After all, if something bad were to happen, then what if it were to happen to them...?
Yet sometimes they would bare witness to the amazing things that he could do.
These were one of those times.
S/O had been decorating their room, throwing some paint around to make it look more homey and currently they were doing the higher part of the wall so they had been on a ladder.
Nagito wanted to help them out, so of course he had come over and did whatever they asked of him.
At the time he was stringing up some decorative lights on the other side of the room, and when he went to plug them in... No dice.
“Hey, S/O, the lights aren’t working. Do you want me to go to the store and buy some more?”
Normally he didn’t spend a lot of money despite the fortune he had ‘accumulated’, but he didn’t mind spending every dime on them (or any of the ultimate’s if they asked, he just didn’t like spending it on himself).
“Nah, it’s probably just a broken bulb, I’ve got a couple extra somewhere.” They said, beginning to climb down the ladder.
Unfortunately, there had been a misstep and down they went, directly into their boyfriend’s arms as did their thick paintbrush... Directly onto the top of his head.
“Aw, you caught me.” They laughed. “Your luck really does come in handy.”
At that he gave a small chuckle, leaning a bit to put them back onto their feet, and slipped the paintbrush...
Directly into their eye.
Immediately he was sent into hysterics, about the fact that it was his fault because of his luck and if trash like him didn’t hang around them then they wouldn’t have hurt their eye in the first place.
“It’s alright! I squinted before it hit me, it’s no worry.” They said, furrowing their eyebrows. “Besides, my worries all on you now. I have to love you until I convince you you’re not trash.”
“... That’s-”
Kazuichi Souda
He had been so excited to show them this new car he had been working on.
It was just simple repairs but it was commissioned by a pro racer, that alone was the coolest but the guy being pro meant that once it was over Kazuichi would have made a lot of money off of it.
(he promised them the best date of their life, despite their objections that he should save it.)
Regardless of it not being created by his, it belonged to a pro! He really wanted to show his S/O.
So of course they had followed him all the way back to the school’s garage where said car had been. “You should see the engine on this, baby, it’s amazing.”
“I’m not sure if I could quite understand it as well as you.” They laughed, just happy to be there. They loved seeing Souda so excited about these things.
“Just the aerodynamics of the car as a whole!” He gushed about it, he was able to talk for a good bit before explaining that he needed to go underneath it and make sure everything was in working order.
Still, he welcomed them to stay, he liked having company. The garage got lonely after a while. It didn’t hurt to have some help to get him the tools he needed so he wouldn’t have to keep going in and out from underneath the car.
So they got him the tools and talked to each-other for a bit.
“... And then Ibuki started a fire!” They finished up their story they had been telling their boyfriend, standing up and going over to where his legs and feet dangled out.
“Hey, it’s getting late, you want me to walk and get some food from across the street?” They asked.
And Kazuichi, not realizing that their beloved had been standing right in the way, had rolled out from underneath the car.
As a result he one of the wheels ran over their toes.
The tiniest “Ouch...” Had been their only complaint, knowing well that it was their own fault for getting in the way, so they didn’t deserve to complain.
“Whoa, hey!” He shouted frantically, popping up and about to pick them up in order to sit him down... Until he remembered he was covered in grease. “I’m so sorry S/O, just sit back down.”
“Can you still stand on it?”
“Do I need to get you some ice?
Various questions came out of the boy’s mouth, making it nearly impossible for them to respond, only their laugh making him quiet down.
“It’s okay, Kazuichi! I was in the way, next time I’ll learn.”
“... So do you still want the food?”
i finally got my hands on dangan ronpa 3 and it’d feel wrong to play it and not liveblog it at least a little
finished the prologue here’s my opinions of/predictions for the characters
kaede akamatsu - shsl pianist & protagonist? i’m not going to pretend i didn’t scroll past some kind of vague hint that the first character you control is a decoy protagonist back when the game first came out so she’s probably doomed or she’s junko or both
it’s been a long time since i played the first two dangan ronpas, i feel like kaede seems to have more of a personality than ummmm makoto? and um nagisa? nope um i forgot their names but the first two dr protagonists. and her shsl talent is a specific talent unlike theirs which brings me to
rantaro amami - shsl amnesiac and my best guess as to who will be the actual protagonist after kaede. for the sole reason of the unknown (or hidden) talent. i have nothing else to base this on. seemed to have heard of the killing games before they had their memories altered and for that reason he’ll probably be around for a good while
shuichi saihara - shsl detective and hat wearer. what’s under that hat? also didn’t we already have a shsl detective? wasn’t that kyoko’s whole thing? would be my second guess for protagonist if it turns out rantaro isn’t it, and if not maybe the murderboy who kills kaede.
so much of my initial impressions are being coloured by this half-read spoiler that it’s going to turn out that like the protagonist switch was something that happened in like... the demo or something. i mean i did think that if they were doing this that they would have done it by the end of the prologue. ???
this is going to end up just like that one time i saw an au image of hall monitor kid as the mastermind and convinced myself that it was a real spoiler for almost the entire way through dr1.
tsumugi shirogane - shsl cosplayer and almost certainly the new genocide jack. maybe this time the serial killer student will do one of the murders
k1-b0 - shsl robot. looks vaguely familiar. you know now that i think about it dr2 really relied on you remembering the events of dr1 to draw parallels and subvert expectations, so actually retaining some memories of the first two would help me in my guesses/predictions. as far as i remember there was a robot in the second game, which i think was like a parallel to chihiro having a computer version of herself in dr1. probably this guy is just a person in a robot suit?
kokichi oma - shsl supreme leader. the new ummmm what was the mafia kid called again? i think it was something like kiriyo, but anyway this guy isn’t as good as the mafia kid whose name i can’t remember. i got halfway through predicting that his status as a supreme leader of an evil organization meant he’d probably die early and uneventfully before i realized that he might be lying. i’d say maybe his talent was being a liar but we kind of already got that with twogami, but dr does like parallels so maybe? solid pick to last till midgame at least
miu iruma - shsl inventor. cool inventor lady. has cool goggles. definitely going to die because i like her and that’s how dangan ronpa works unfortunately. might be a murderer because they could have an execution with like cool robots or something
himiko yumeno - shsl mage. powerful witch girl. love her she probably dies in the same case as miu. probably dies in ‘a magic trick gone wrong’. i don’t know where you’d go with it from a storytelling perspective but i do hope she has actual real magic.
tenko chabashiru - shsl aikido master. i appreciate dangan ronpa’s dedication to having cool sports girls in its games. this sports girl probably gets murdered early. the only real logic i have for this is that aoi survived to the end, akane as far i remember survived to the end. they’re gonna buck the trend, send us the message that nobody is safe not even the cool sports girl.
maki harukawa - shsl child caregiver. i’m clearly supposed to be suspicious of her. she was acting suspicious. she was the only one to walk away after talking to her in the prologue. she’s a child caregiver and all the monokumas are kids this time. she’ll probably be an important confidante of the main character, entirely blameless and survive the entire game.
unless thats what they want me to think...
ryoma hoshi - shsl tennis bastard. hate him. hope he copies teruteru and does the first murder so i can be done with him asap
korekiyo shinguji - shsl anthropologist and mask wearer. all my instincts say komaeda 2 the sequel to komaeda. he’ll likely be entirely benign and make it to the end like mafia kid in 2 and togami in 1.
kaito momota - shsl astronaut. will definitely murder someone so they can have an astronaut themed execution. though my memory is telling me they kind of already did an astronaut themed execution? astronaut is such an out there talent for a high schooler to have, we can’t have already had an astronaut right???
kirumi tojo - shsl maid assassin. god i wish i could remember mafia kid’s name and its too late in this post to go looking things up at this point. anyway kirumi has a very clear parallel to mafia kid’s assistant, who oh yeah thats right she prevented his execution and got herself killed doing so... god dangan ronpa 2 was fucking wild. kirumi is so dangerous that she’ll likely be a surprising midgame murder victim.
gonta gokuhara - shsl entomologist (the bug one not the word one) and raised by wolves. my instinct tells me he’ll do a murder by accident (of mice and men style) or be tricked into doing one by... lets say korekiyo.
angie yonaga - shsl artist and conduit for atua. hey i love her and hope she survives to the end as like the one quirky character allowed to actually survive the game (psychic boy from dr1 and ummmmm i don’t remember if dr2 has a good parallel).
also of note the monokubs kind of put me in mind of the kids from ultra despair girls and i am Concerned.
Artbook Data - Design Team Interview
All left now for my artbook translation series are the three big interviews. The finale is approaching. I’ll do design, then development, then writing. Expect them to take even longer than usual, since they are all huge.
Notes:
I have no idea why Komatsuzaki is not being interviewed
Nakao is the main character designer and illustrator for Zanki Zero. Basically their Komatsuzaki.
Interviewees:
Tatsuya Marutani: One of the old school members, being part of the team since DR1′s development. He was DR1′s director, and from DR2 onwards, he has been managing the budget, schedule, etc. as the production manager.
Satoshi “parori” Kawabara: Like Marutani, a member since DR1. He worked in all games of the series as a scenery designer and in V3 he is the leader of the scenery design team. He also personally made the 3D models for all the buildings.
Ayumi Sugita: Designer for some UI elements, like the title screen and the school badge. The woman behind the perjury mechanic, all new Class Trial minigames and all the replaceable e-Handbook backgrounds.
Ayako Nakao: Worked as an UI designer since DR1′s development. In V3, she handled the Class Trial interfaces, mainly the Nonstop Debates. She’s the one who incorporated the Psychocool vibe to the UI.
How to decipher a complicated design theme? The designers’ battle starts!
Interviewer: We are starting the interview with the design team. Why don’t you start by telling us which parts each of you do?
Tatsuya Marutani: I was DR1′s and I participated in DR2 and DRAE as a production manager. My role in V3 stayed the same. I’m in charge of budgeting and supervising designs, cutscenes, CGs and et cetera.
I: Not to mention being the leader of the design team.
TM: I don’t do anything this hard. I let every branch of the team have its own leader.
I: I see. Next Kouno-san, please.
Satoshi Kawabara: I have been the leader of the scenery design team since DR1. We don’t have a team specialized in building 3D models, so aside from the scenery models, we’re also in charge of making all other 3D models. But someone else is making the characters.
I: So, you make the 3D models for the places and buildings, got it. Next up, Sugita-san, please.
Ayumi Sugita: I joined in DR2 late stages of production and was in charge of making the interfaces for DRAE and DRV3. I created the designs for the title menu, the the e-Handbook menu and few of the Class Trial interfaces.
I: Last but not least, what do you do, Nakao-san?
Ayako Nakao: I did interfaces for DR1 and 2 and this time I was in charge of the Nonstop Debates.
I: Now that we know what everyone do, I want to start this by asking about what a concept all sides of design share in common. The design theme for V3 was “Psychocool”, Kawabara-san can you give us a few words about it?
SK: Not really. Each team branch interpreted “Psychocool” their own way and used their own concept as the basis for their designs. Then we discussed it with the others and reached a final consensus. Psychocool is a word our group made up, so it’s only natural that everyone understands it as something different. So I think I can’t speak for everyone because every team branch would give you different answer.
I: Don’t the design teams communicate with each other to maintain a visual consistency?
SK: We communicate, of course, but we never reached a concrete image of Psychocool.
I: Yeah, that’s vague.
SK: DR1′s Psychopop theme gave me its fair share of questions, then 2′s Psychotropical made even less sense. Then comes V3 with its Psychocool and I could just think “what the heck am I supposed to do with this?” (laughs).
AN: In 1 and 2 I just went with my own interpretation and it all turned out ok in the end. I thought the characters and the scenery would show the “psycho” side and for my interfaces I just had to worry about showing the “pop” or “tropical” sides. Back in 2 I even tried to add an ukelele to the interface to increase the tropicality.
I: So you each find your own interpretation and insert it into the design. I’ve heard that the development this time was very chaotic for the design team because the theme was suddenly changed from Psychoamerican to Psychocool.
SK: There were some more beside Psychoamerican. Psychostylish if I recall right?
AN: It went from Psychoamerican to Psychostylish to Psychocool.
SK: Whatever it were, design directions can’t be decided without a concept keyword, so there work proceeded by each team branch throwing in their design under the most recent theme.
TM: The work with the scenery always starts with Kawabara messaging me saying “I got the new theme. I have no idea what it means.”. We get some orders from the script writer, like “I want this to feel more cyberpunk than steampunk”, “more green, more nature”, so we take what we get and expand on it. Then, after we get to read the finished script, we adapt what needs to be adapted to it and that’s pretty much it. We don’t let the Psychocool theme restrict us too much on the earlier stages.
I: And how does the interface design proceeds?
AN: The DR1 and 2 interfaces used warm colors like gold and orange. But, since the theme this time was “cool”, I chose colder colors. I think we got an overall more “cool”, more subdued vibe.
The Saishuu Academy grounds’ multiple design concepts.
I: Now I have a few questions about the scenery design. The stage this time is a school inside a dome. How was the scenery design planned around this idea?
SK: Since the plot was planned, it was already decided it would be a space sorrounded by a prison-like wall. But another keyword I received was “spaceship”, so I decided to add some more cyberpunk and futuristic elements by making it into a dome, and then, since the school’s name contained the word “captive”, I covered the dome with a birdcage.
I: Sugawara-san said in his own interview that the birdcage was his idea.
SK: By the way, the birdcage idea was also used for the shrine that leads to the trial grounds. To be honest, after we made the wall into a birdcage, I checked it to see how it looked from the garden. It was so giant that we couldn’t tell it was a birdcage. And so, I made the trial shrine into a smaller birdcage to make everyone notice the bigger birdcage. As a result, entering the trial can be bizarrely described as entering a little birdcage inside a birdcage.
I: Didn’t expect the shrine to have this much of a secret to it. Did you first design the exterior of the buildings and then the interiors?
SK: That’s how it usually goes, but this time we still hadn’t planned how big the school would be, so we didn’t know what we would need to have outside. The sports ground we made early on was never used in the story, so we removed it from the layout, but on the other hand, the more we developed the script, the more new places we needed in the school building.
TM: The twist of Ki-bo destroying the school in chapter 6 was a last minute decision, so that caught us off guard.
SK: Oh, it did. Good we hadn’t started making a 7th floor back at the time (laughs)
I: Nice you didn’t have to throw an entire floor away (laughs) You said you had to add a lot to the school, so how big it was originally?
SK: At first it only had 3 floors. For the building scenery, I wanted to make it similar to Kibougamine or just a regular traditional public school, while still trying to give the fans a different feel to it.
I: And then you kept adding new floors nonstop.
SK: Yes. The script for a new chapter said “4th floor” then the next said “5th”. In the end, I had to scale it up to 6 floors. The script gave me some tips saying the 4th floor was “Japanese”, “creepy and scary”, “mythological horror”, so I took my notes and adjusted its image accordingly. Following this notes and adding my own psycho elements, I made the 4th floor and Shinguuji’s lab.
I: The 4th floor was really the most impressive made. DR:AE had that graveyard stage with a similar taste, but this floor was even scarier.
SK: Having fun with what you’re creating is a tradition in the DanganRonpa scenery team. The 4th floor was about mythological horror, so I could add a direct reference to Village of Eight Gravestones. When something had to add something there, we all tested to make it as scary as we could. I even put some broken Kṣitigarbha statues from pictures I found on the internet. The picture was really good, so I used it as the base for the whole theme.
I: The broken statues did have this impact. With Kodaka-san’s precise theming and your efforts, you managed to make every floor after the 4th one also have a unique tone to them.
SK: The theme for the 5th floor was much more clear because Kodaka wrote a game’s title on the instructions. (laughs). And also “angels and demons”, if i recall right. Holding my suspictions that the plot would bring up something about duality, I assumed that the 5th floor would be explored when the story was approaching its climax and designed it to have a bigger atmosphere of climatic grandeur.
I: I see, and finally the 6th floor?
SK: It was decided that the 6th floor, containing Momota’s lab, would be open at the same time as the cyberpunk area outside. Therefore, they got a near-future and spaceish vibe.  By the way, Momota’s lab was initially supposed to be on the 3rd floor. It was going to be a rocket punched through the school’s wall, and inside it would look like a control room. But then the script mentioned a room that you had to climb all the way from the bottom of the school to the top, so I thought I should make the interior of the rocket into a giant staircase, and Momota’s lab came to be as it is today.
I: Now that we’re on the subject, I would like to about the students’ labs. The labs are unique for each student, but what did you have in mind when designing them? The talents?
SK: Believe it or not, for the labs we received barely any instructions. We were left to design them however we wanted. We took from many points from the students’ characterization and designs to solidify the ideas we wanted and sent our own designs. One example I remember is that I received the request of “I want Yumeno’s lab to have a feeling of both real magic and magic tricks” and I had to make all the hard work of finding this balance. The first version I did looked like an illusionist’s warehouse, so I got it had “not enough real magic”. The labs were all like this, taking numerous attempts to get perfect as they are now.
I: Was the process for this similar to the student rooms in DR1 and 2?
SK: The students’ rooms all had the same size, so all had to do is add some accessories inside to differentiate them. This time I had no restrictions about the room’s size, so I didn’t make the mistake of treating them like the standardized bedrooms. For example, for Momota’s lab I thought “make it space-like. A planetarium maybe”, then you go to Gonta’s lab and it’s a bothanical park (laughs). I was trying to think outside of the box as much as I could.
I: How did you think for characters whose concept was difficult to expand. For example, the Super High School Level Survivor Rantarou Amami sounds like a challenge to me...
SK: It was said in the story that Amami’s room was “death game-like”. I had to keep asking myself “what is ‘death game-like’?”.
TM: Because this game is a death game.
I: It sure is (laughs)
SK: So I based the design on LIAR GAME (a manga about deceiving other in a psychological battle. Has a TV drama and a movie adaptation) and added a more bloody vibe and horror elements, making Amami’s room.
I: Also, I heard from Kodaka-san that Saihara’s lab had 52 books containing all the murder tricks used on the previous DanganRonpas.
SK: The furniture and items have their places decided by the boss. For every room, I draw my draft only after reading the story’s script, understanding the characteristics of the room and doing all the research I need to design its scenery. I give this draft for the planners to check, and they give me the ok, I can send it to Kodaka. I think the books idea came along somewhere along this back and forth.
I: I see. Another question about the student bedrooms. Aside from the protagonists (Akamatsu and Saihara), we also see Ouma’s bedroom. It’s filled with random items from the previous cases all over. How did you get that from Ouma’s character quirks?
SK: In the other games’ story, the bedrooms were provided by Monokuma to reflect each student’s talent and character quirks. But here we have the student labs for that, so we didn’t think much about personalizing the bedrooms. For Ouma’s bedroom, I just consulted with the planner in charge of it to make it fulfills all of the conditions it needed to.
The Saishuu Academy’s gigantic map is fully loaded with its designer’s imagination!
I: One of the new elements of the maps is that they are filled with many breakable objects with Monocoins inside. As the scenery designer, you get choose which objects are breakeable, right?
SK: When I first designed the maps, no objects were breakable. But now that the scenery is more realistic, the charm of the 2.5D effect got weaker, so we decided to include this feature as a way to highlight it. From this point on, I began considering what is slapable in all future drafts, but I have no idea when it was decided that they would have Monocoins.
I: The DanganRonpa series seems to have a lot of those “things that just happened and no one knows how” (laughs). What it difficult to make all this scenery, as you put it, more realistic?
SK: Not more difficult, just more time consuming. Like, before I could just make an object pop out of the background and that was ok because “it’s 2.5D”, but this time I needed a more natural presentation. For example, to make a room before, I had to build its 3D and make it 2.5D. This time, I had to add natural-looking lighting to the 3D room I built and then drop the 2.5D objects there in a way that emphasized this lighting. Lots of new steps were added to the process.
I: So instead of getting harder, you just had a bigger workload because that’s naturally necessary for realism.
SK: You got it. The hardware changing from the PSP to the PS4/Vita also added to the workload, as those have a better graphics. That’s what lead to the lighting work I just mentioned.
I: I’m looking at the earlies drafts for the scenery design and the tone here feels a lot lighter than in the final version. Was the Saishuu Academy going to be completely different from how it is?
SK: When I drew these earliest draft, we is still hadn’t decided on the direction we were going for. All I had was an instruction: “I want it to look like a portrait in a 3D map”, so I made these designs only to look portrait-ish. Besides, since I didn’t get any proper orders for the school, I just drew two patterns of options for everything.
I: What were the concepts for them?
SK: At first I didn’t what direction to take to make it different from Kibougamine Academy. For the first 3 floors, I took Kibougamine’s basic concept of a prestigious public school with a tangible history and took it even further, resulting in a pompous, almost church-like building. ((upper image in the link above))
I: Gorgeous and luxurious. And the other one?
SK: The other one was more modern university. Universities nowadays have some classrooms with no walls or windows, and that felt very liberating, so I how I thought it would be fun to draw a place like this. ((lower image in the link)) So I drew this draft but it turned we couldn’t make a school this open because with make the murder tricks more difficult to create. I made this concept hoping it wouldn’t be approved. I’m glad my idea was ditched (laughs).
I: (laughs) Speaking of ditched scenery ideas, any others you want to talk about?
SK: The biggest thing is that in the first draft the wall surrounding the school was going to have an opening with a giant waterfall coming out of it, and a pond below it. We were planning for the waterfall to make a pretty rainbow but one day it was suddenly not there anymore.
I: And how exactly was this waterfall supposed to be used in the story?
SK: Remember that little path going behing the school? It was originally going to be much more unnecessarily long, going through the middle of a mazey forest seperated from the school. However, the forest part would be boring if it was just all green all the time, so someone had the idea to add the waterfall. Ultimately we decided to shorten down that path, so the waterfall was ditched. And then the provisory gym was ditched.
I: Why was the gym ditched?
SK: The murder trick for chapter 2 needed it. It was merged with the pool area and demanded design changes to accomodate it. That said, I was probably going to have to change it anyways because the old version was based on the not yet made New National Stadium (laughs).
I: (laughs) Scenery designs does have its fair share of parodies and references. Like that statue of that ninja...
SK: The lines in the script also pushed the reference, so I think the scenery team decided to hit it as close to the original as copyright allowed. Being an object provided by Monokuma, we had the liberty to go a little crazy with it, so we went all in with the ninja statue and the stone tablet in front of the pool.
I: And so, you weren’t forbbiden for neither the statue nor the tablet.
SK: No, I was forbidden for the ninja statue. As I mentioned on the dev blog, it was originally much more identical to the real deal. Naturally, this would cause copyright issues, so I was forbidden by someone even higher up than Producer Terazawa. By the way, we included quite a few references not only in the maps but in the cutscenes too. I hope you readers replay the story to find all of them.
Making it comfortable and pleasant to play: The feelings incorporated into V3′s interface
I: Alright, now I want to ask about the interface designs. What do you need to discuss before you start working on the UIs?
AN: The game flow (daily life -> investigation -> class trial) never changes, but that doesn’t mean all games should have the same interface. The first step in design is deciding on the base color to fit the theme. Also, for 2 we could make flater designs because the PSP’s resolution was lower, but on the PS4/Vita’s higher resolution, the images would feel empty will if we designed then like we did before. That’s were have our fun thinking about what new effects we should use in the new UI, like for example grunge (the spotted design effect).
SK: The UI never gets done in the first try, does it?
AS: Never. Especially for the non-Trial part. I can’t even count how many we changed it (pained laughter).
AN: It took the longest for us to figure out how to fit 3 characters on the same dialogue.
AS: The first thing we discussed is how to include this set-up that allows for 3 characters on the same screen. And we finally got the first screen ready to be our template, we built our UI around it until the higher-ups said “No, this feels wrong” and threw it away. Another big problem was V3′s much higher ammount of dialogue UIs. In DR2 it only changed for day and night, but in V3, aside from the timeframe changes, we also have different UIs for the daily life and investigation.
I: You’re quite the perfectionists about this. So, when you don’t have a clear answer for the interface, what basic principles do you follow?
AN: The only possible principle: trial and error. For example, we once add TV show elements to the Class Trial debate interface. It was idea made considering the endgame twist, but it was forbidden for being “too much”. Our first map interface also had the same TV theme to it, so that was also scrapped along with all other TV-related ideas we had. After that, we started thinking only of “cool” as our design theme.
I: I see you had a lot of working problems, but overall did you how your new options expanded your creative liberty?
AN: Oh, tell me. As I said before the resolution now is a lot higher. If we tried adding grunge back on the PSP days, every screen would get blurry and ugly. Now everything looks pretty on the screen. Me and Sugita were pretty hyped that we could use the grunge effect now (laughs).
SK: You two did great. Like with all the ideas you added to the Trial debates.
AS: But the first months gave us gestaltzerfall. “What’s an interface”, we asked (laughs).
I: Thinking of DanganRonpa design is harder than for other games?
TM: All titles care about their design. It’s just that DanganRonpa can afford spending a longer time thinking about its designs. There as lot of adding new aspects and taking them back, but other titles are just as hard.
I: And has that ever lead to argue with Kodaka-san about...
TM: All the time.
SK: I think everyone in the team really trusts each other.
TM: Yeah, because whenever someone in the team has a cool idea they really want to use, we all do everything we can to add it. That’s how we made DanganRonpa 1 and we got a lot of praise from the players for it.
SK: That’s the part that matters. In DR1 we really went beyond what’s reasonable, but since the players loved it, I can’t think we did anything wrong. That’s why I always trying doing the most unreasonable things they ask me.
I: Can you recall any of those unreasonable requests?
SK: V3 was full of those. Changing the colors of the staircase was quite work, for one. After the entire game was pretty much done and ready for release, I got the sudden request saying “I want to add more colors like the were in 1 and 2. Give a crazy color to the staircases”.
AS: Oh, that’s right. When I first played the game, I thought “The staircases were not this color”.
TM: Because of this, we had to redraw a bit of the scenery, some story CGs and Climax Inferences.
I: Even under this conditions, you never say no?
SK: If we can do we want to do it.
TM: But naturally, it’s not easy having to rearrange the schedule and budget.
The Class Trial gimmicks achieved a huge power-up
I: Next up, I want to ask about the Class Trial designs. I was really impressed by the huge power up V3 got when it came to how the words were displayed and moved.
AN: That was the first idea we had to make this game’s presentation’s richer than the previous entries. The planner in charge complained a bit when I said he must come up different movements for every sentence, but I got him to do his best (laughs).
I: The fonts got a lot more varied, too.
AN: At first we did it with only one font, just like in the first two games. After we started decorating the text with flowers and magic circles around the characters, we had the idea to change the fonts as well. So we prepared 3 different fonts, but that was still not enough. After begging our programmer hard enough, we ultimately added 20 new fonts to the game.
I: Lots of new elements were added to the Class Trial, like the Panic Debates, Perjury and the Debate Scrum. How hard it was to introduce those?
AN: We had a lot to take away from the Panic Debate. We built the set up and when we excitedly went to test, it was really hard to display different characters in 3 separate cameras and have words come out of them. We removed a lot from it not to overload the game and had to release this oversimplified version. It was difficult compromise.
I: I see. How about the Perjury mechanic?
AS: I did the Perjury design. I took really long before it got how it is now. I was asked to do something that looked different from everything we had in a Class Trial before, so I had no idea what to do. I desperately searched for hints in the script and the illustrations, until I found my epiphany in that one Ouma sprite where is face turns pitch black. When people lie, something in them change. Ouma is the embodiment of lie in V3, so it figures that his change, this color inversion, is what gave shape to the lie mode.
AN: Oh yeah, I remember the perjury prototype screen was titled “OumaColors” (laughs).
AS: I used’s Ouma’s purple (laughs). And the eyes with “lie” written on it to reflect the character’s hesitant mind was Kouno-san’s idea. It was there to give a feeling of “Everyone is watching you lie!”.
I: Perjury is filled behind-the-scene secrets!
AN: The Debate Scrum doesn’t have any interesting origin story like the Perjury has, but we had some trouble trying to differentiate from the standard Nonstop Debate. We added the part at the end were you have to push the rockets after everyone matched the discussion topics. I don’t know why we settled with rockets, we were just suggested to do something that moves and the rockets were the first idea that came up.
I: One last thing about the Class Trial. In chapter 6, we have a couple unique designs and interfaces. Did you just have this idea when reading the script? Has the story helped you defining these designs?
SK: Everything was decided on the spot when building chapter 6.
AN: Yes. We brought pretty much everyone to discuss this part. Now that you mentioned, I absolutely can’t remember why we made the final Ki-bo Argument Armament in 3D. He was so hard to make. I made all the system to add him in 2D like every other AA character, but then I got told “Drop that for now, Ki-bo might have a different visual from everyone else”. I never expected Ki-bo to be the only one in 3D.
The minigame design were also all pitched with full force!
I: All teams told me in their respective interviews that they faced difficulties with chapter 6. Anyways, our next topic is the minigames and the in-game games. Please tell us why the room with the Monomono Machine looks so African?
SK: The reason is incredibly simple. The initial plan was to make the Monomono Machine more cyberpunk-looking, to match the game’s previous cyberpunk design. But we reconsidered because putting cyberpunk objects in a cyberpunk area is not interesting. So make the pieces in our composition more mismatched, we went with the African imagery.
AS: A shocking clash of opposites.
TM: But why Africa specifically?
SK: I can’t remember why I chose Africa, but I do remember why I didn’t want the school store to look like a school store. Back in DR1 I made just a normal school store with unexpected products on the shelves, like paper lanterns and Western armor, but I found it funny. This time, I decided to reverse my joke, making a room that looks nothing like a school store and filling the shelves with the most commonplace products. And that how it came to Africa.
AS: Oh, so that was the reason for Africa. I remember when I was trying to come up with a design for the Monomono Machine. I asked how the store room looked like and you just said “Africa” with no further elaboration. Despite the millions of questions in my head, I still designed all the wallpapers for the Monomono Machine keeping the African motif (laughs).
SK: Sorry for designing the school store without consulting. I didn’t even think about the Monomono Machine...
AS: You don’t need to apologize, it was fun to design!
I: So, about the minigames, was that whole setup where you can play all the Class Trial minigames (redesign) at the Casino planned from the start?
AN: Yes. Some of the Trial minigames were hard, so we made the Casino as place where you could practice them in a fun way. The redesign were made to create a more fun atmosphere, since keeping the same designs would make the player feel like they are still playing the Class Trial.
I: I see. And then you added the Casino-originals: the Monomono Slots and the Salmon Fishing.
AN: We just wanted to make one new game for the Casino. The jackpot animation for the Monomono Slots was entirely handdrawn, so I’m glad it got okayed. Also, please notice that the frame for the Salmon Fish is decorated with roe.
I: That’s right! There’s roe in the frames.
AN: In the beta version we had an animation for the eggs hatching when you beat the game. But we couldn’t include it in the final version, so I thought people wouldn’t notice the eggs, hence why I’m raising this appeal for them.
I: More fans to the roe. Also, still talking about the Casino, I heard from the planning team that the e-Handbook wallpapers available as prizes there were quite popular with the fans.
AS: Making that many was worth the effort. At first we were only going to have 20 of them, considering “16 students + α”, but I was requested to make more of them because the Casino didn’t have enough prizes, so by the end of it, there were 40 Handbook wallpapers in total.
I: Double the original plan. Was it hard to make this many new patterns?
AS: It was fun (laughs). The wallpapers are prizes you have to buy from the Casino, so I wanted let everyone be happy with the one they picked. I started by making a pink one because Akamatsu was a girl and a blue one because Saihara was a boy, then I started making new ones with colors tied to the character quirks of the rest of the cast, considering both their design colors and some keywords. Then I made the Dangan Salmon Team and the Love Hotel ones borrowing elements from those designs. Same with the DR1, 2 and AE ones. Then the more original ones with my own original material. I get filled with emotion when reading tweets of people enjoying their wallpaper of their favorite character.
I: That’s the good part of being a creator. Anything you else want to say about the Casino room?
SK: A casino and a love hotel are not installations you should have at a school, so they off in the academy’s grounds. So, I made them not visible in the area where you can see the school building.
I: It was a trick to preserve the beauty of the school grounds, huh. Now, tell me which extra lenghts did you have to go to make the Death Road of Despair and the program world from chapter 4.
AN: The interface made the assets for the DRoD. Since I was told we would have a 2D sidescroller, I prepared the controllable chibi characters. Since this is a bonus mode, it was possible to just use the 8bit sprites we already had, but I decided it was better to make the sprites I did since those are actually facing the right side.
AS: We also had to make running and jumping sprites for 16 characters. It was very time-consuming.
TM: Making all of this for 16 is impressive. It’s a strange amount of effort for a minigame that ends so fast (laughs).
I: And how long did the chibi charas in the virtual world take to make?
TM: Those didn’t take as much effort because they were a lot less varied, both in movement patterns and in number of characters. However, the program world is practically a whole different game, so it took a lot of time to balance the size of the world and the movement speed.
SK: The sceneries in the program world were partially made in 3D. We needed to use special test cameras to check everything regarding the characters’ movement speeds and scenery gimmicks. Only after all of that is done that I can start drawing.
I: Oh, remembered the program world had unique text boxes.
AS: We changed the entire interface, to emphazise that that was a different world. Aside from the text box, we changed the BGM name visualizer and change the movement format from omnidirectional to vertical and horizontal only. Also, you know how the characters change expressions during conversations? We drew all of those expressions ourselves. I added the sweatdrops and effects because I wanted the characters to stay expressive even inside the program.
TM: It was costly but the development was so fun I think it was worth the price. As you would expect, there was heavy discussion about the Death Road of Despair, since we would need to make way too many new assets for such minor parts of the story and I’m not sure I agree (laughs). But this, the setting of the entirety of chapter 4, is much more clearly worth its price.
What are the interface and menu easter eggs layed by the design team!?
I:Time for the final question: anything to say about secrets or easter eggs you all put into the game, like the salmon roe Sugita mentioned earlier?
SK: Half of the images of real people in chapter 6 are people from our firm. We even included some people who appear in public often, like Terazawa-san and Sasaki. Have fun looking for them.
AN: I’m pretty sure we also included one person wearing a Monokuma head in there.
I: But there are foreigners in those pictures too, no?
SK: The plot says the whole world is watching, so it would be weird if we only had pictures of Asian people. So we use stock pictures for half of them. All the foreigner and elders there were stock pictures. We also included a few family members of the staff in charge of editing said stock pics.
I: I see. Anything else?
AS: Remember how characters appear in the background of the gallery menus? There are some rules to which characters appear. For example, the Saihara without the hat won’t appear before you beat chapter 1. Also, one character in particular doesn’t appear before you complete the story. I would love if you checked who it is for yourself. Then there’s the easter egg on the title menu.
I: What did you hide there?
AS: There’s a lot of objects on top of the building on the title menu. Every time you beat a chapter, a new object related to the chapter in question gets added. I think a lot of people don’t go back to the title menu that often, so when they realized, the place is already packed with stuff.
TM: I didn’t go back to title menu before I finished the game.
I: That’s what I call hidden content. Now, one message to the fans, please.
TM: I think this was better than DR1 and DR2, both in plot, volume and pacing. And I can proudly brag that this is the entry that best shows what DanganRonpa is about. I believe you’ll discover many new by playing the game from the start after reading this book, so I would love if you replayed it.
SK: In my many years in the gaming industry, I very often thought about how I live wanting to make something that moves someone’s heart. This game said every word it had to say, so I strongly a decent amount of hearts were moved by it. I hope V3 is a game that leaves lasting marks on the players’ hearts, be them from positive emotions or from negative.
AS: Probably very few people pay attention to a game’s interface. But I am interested in interfaces from a professional standpoint, so once I played DR1 I realized that this was the kind of interface I wanted to make and I started dreaming of working on the DanganRonpa series. The dream came true in DR2 and in V3 I was left in charge of many of the interfaces. I’m extremely glad it happened, but I gotta say I faced a fair amounts of challenges. It was a great experience. I thought the hardest I could to make this interfaces, so please pay attention while you search the easter eggs in the game.
AN: I can say with confidence that V3 is the culmination of everything our dear series represents. It was the first time we could develop a game of the series on the PS4 and we could make more detailed interfaces because of it. Explore every nook and cranny of it.
DR2 Boys as Monsters with a Human S/o Part 2
Hello everyone, I’m sorry for my inactivity as of late. My bed broke recently so I’ve had to try to get a new one during Quarantine. However, I finally am able to get one and I come back bearing some good news! Mod Kokichi and I have been fleshing out our monster Au to the point that we have some extra content for the lore of the world and details with the characters and whatever we couldn’t fit into these imagines. Coincidentally, we do plan to also open an AO3 account in order to publish fully fleshed out content for the monsters and lore of the world we’ve made for them once we’re all set up. If anyone is interested in any art or lore that we have ready though, feel free to ask us and we’ll gladly share it with you. Speaking of, we have a place already to post art on our discord so you’re free to join us with this link if you’d like. https://discord.gg/M6TGwd
Tumblr media
One more thing I’d like to add though is a warning for Nagito’s part in this. We couldn’t include much romance because of some lore we included with how his disease would work in this universe and with the limited space I couldn’t convey much development with him yet (where he isn’t quite as unhealthy or obsessive) so consider this just your first interaction with him. I promise though on AO3 or in further works he won’t be nearly as twisted as he might com across here. Besides that though, I hope that you all enjoy these. I had a lot of fun with them and will be getting back to other requests and matchups as soon as possible.
Part 2 (Part 1 here) (Part 3 here)
Gundham (Vampire)
By the time you got of work, it was late enough to see the last vestiges of the setting sun disappearing over the horizon, leaving behind nothing more than the chill of twilight.
However, there was nothing to do but to walk home as typical of you when it's still brighter.
As you passed by the familiar buildings, the park, and even a few side streets you began to only think of getting home and into your nice warm bed.
Perhaps it was those thoughts that caused you not to notice the man behind you but by the time he put a hand over your mouth and pulled you into an alley with him, you knew you had made a terrible mistake.
There were no words said as he pushed you up against a wall and buried his face into your neck, penetrating you with his fangs.
So that was it, he was a vampire. It'd be over soon you thought trying to reassure yourself as his inhuman strength overpowered you.
You tried with all your might to hold onto consciousness but alas it was too much. Maybe he was going to drink you dry after all, maybe this was the end for you?
When you awoke with a start those thoughts were still lingering in your mind. You felt so weak and this place, this definitely wasn't your room.
"Ah, you've awoken at last!" Announced that same vampire as he appeared by the side of the plush bed you were laid upon.
At least you assumed as you hadn't gotten to hear his voice. You didn't know what to say to him and at the very same time, plenty of accusations and questions flew from your mouth in his direction causing him to lose that gusto he seemed to have from a moment ago.
It appeared as though he hadn't considered for this to happen and unlike how he had last night he silenced you with his own statement.
"Silence, mortal! You should consider yourself lucky! It is not every day that you are a vampire as well known and feared as the legendary Gundham Tanaka's first victim!"
Proudly laughing he rambles on and on about his supposed grandeur before he finally settles down.
"Now what great power you are speaking to I shall inform you of what is to come as you had begged me earlier. You, mortals, tend to misconstrue what it is we full-blood vampires do with our first victim. We do not kill them, no rather we keep them by our side."
Oh brother. You knew for certain you did not want to stay with this guy and yet you still felt so weak. There was no way you could do much else than rely on him so you had to relent.
However, even though you started as an unwanted guess Gundham seemed to know how to take care of you, always making sure to be so careful.
He didn't seem like other vampires and as you began to talk to him you seemed to realize what had happened to you in actuality. Even if he hadn't realized it himself he slipped up by calling you his first victim.
He wasn't some long-lived legendary Vampire, he was a recently turned one that normally didn't drink from a human directly. You noticed with the way that he'd return with blood bags and never a scratch on him that he wasn't as evil as he seemed.
However, even when you questioned him he insisted on his obviously made up "Old Vampire Ritual" that you two were bound together and that he must take care of you as you two are now in a "symbiotic relationship".
A relationship in which he never actually drank from you instead mostly taking care of you because of that one time he could've killed you. Perhaps that's why you had fallen so hard for this creature of the night?
He was gentle and kind in his own right and every day that passed by ended up making you glad to be here. That's when you knew you had to tell him finally.
One night as he was bringing you dinner you had asked for him to stay and as usual, he listened to your desires sitting by you rather obediently as you two conversed.
"It is not like you to ask of my presence during your meals, mortal. Is there something you wished to say?"
What didn't you want to say? As soon as you could open your mouth all of it began to spill out again, like those questions you asked when you first arrived here.
You knew he wasn't a full-blood, you knew he just felt bad that he almost drained you, and you knew he didn't like drinking directly from someone if they were unwilling! You knew it all but most of all you liked him the way he was. You loved him even and before you could finish your ramble of a confession he had already pressed himself against your lips.
"Oh, how is it that a mortal like you can love a beast such as myself?"
Nagito (Zombie)
Though it was quite impulsive, you had felt implored to walk take a walk in the dead of night.
It was a humid summer night and with your clothes sticking to you and the hum of the ceiling fan relentlessly filling your ears you clearly needed to get a small break.
Grabbing a bag with a few small things such as a flashlight, keys, and whatever else you could possibly need during a night stroll you soon departed, forgetting just why it was so risky to leave your home.
As you continued on your stroll to the next block you happened upon the local graveyard which was always stirring with life, at least that's what you had heard.
Perhaps it was the humidity or the lack of sleep making you feel so careless but rather than heading back home you decided to approach the gates of the cemetery when a gloved hand came to press itself over your mouth.
"Don't scream, I just want to talk." A raspy voice whispers lowly into your ear causing panic to shoot through your body.
With your bag still in hand, you easily shake the offender off, swinging your bag at him as your eyes shut in fear. However, instead of any pained sound, all you hear is a sigh and multiple things hitting the ground.
Despite your head screaming at you to disregard that and run though you instead put on a brave face and open your eyes, noticing that he was now missing his arm and head.
"Ah man, this is so embarrassing," he starts only awkwardly scratching the back of his head with his free hand, "you wouldn't be able to uh, hand me my head would you?"
Wait, he's a zombie, isn't he!? He'll just try to bite you!
Even with your protests though he doesn't bat an eye only negotiating with you instead. "I know it sounds like I just want to bite you but I swear I won't. If it makes you feel better you can even grab me by my hair. There's no way I can bite you that way, right?"
Despite the position he was in, he still seemed fully capable of quipping at you so you relented. What harm will come from this guy if you can knock most of his limbs off with one swing?
Dropping your bag to the ground you tentatively grab his head by the hair watching as his expression doesn't change despite the tug on his scalp as you hand it over to his body.
To your surprise, he grabs himself the same way and somehow easily reattaches the head with his one arm intact. This must happen quite a lot for him to be so unfazed even with only one arm.
"Thanks again! You wouldn't mind tossing my hand over here too would you?"
He asks with a relaxed smile on his face. He didn't move towards you at all, seeming to wait for you to answer as you looked over and saw that gloved hand now laying by your bag.
He didn't seem dangerous but before you could find it in yourself to give him back all of his limbs you needed to know why he grabbed you earlier.
"Oh, that? Well, to be honest, I was trying to warn you about the graveyard. Tonights a full moon and it's when a lot of the more violent zombies and other monsters come out. That's why I didn't want you to scream either if you had well, you'd be found and eaten immediately."
But then why wasn't he attacking you or trying to eat you? You wanted to question him more but for the most part, his answer was vague.
"Well, I don't want to eat you. How about instead you toss me my hand and I'll walk you home? That's fair isn't it?"
You couldn't disagree, it did seem fair but you certainly hadn't expected this development in the slightest. It might not have been too uncommon for someone to escort you home but a zombie was surprising.
You braced yourself, grabbing ahold of the purely skeletal hand and glove as you tossed them over to him. Now with another question to ask. Was the glove to cover this?
"That actually has to do with how I got to be a zombie. It's a funny story since I'm pretty lucky but I was born with a disease that causes your brain to deteriorate. I wasn't supposed to live long and no matter what doctor I went to, none of them could do anything."
So why was his hand like this then? Did he already start decaying? Despite just meeting, he seemed intent on sharing his story with you as he gave you an awkward smile and continued.
"No one could cure me so I decided to take a risk. As a human still I sought out a Witch Doctor and ironically the only way to save me so that I could accomplish my goals was to kill me."
Popping his hand on with a satisfied look on his face he smiled at you.
"It's ironic but even with the ritual, I got lucky! She needed something as a sort of sacrifice I guess so she needed my hand or at least the flesh from it. I'll admit it was pretty painful since I was still alive but even then it seemed that it was destined to happen. A rare occurrence happened in which my hand was still intact and strong enough not to snap either! It was a miracle that the witch said must have been because the demons or dark gods had chosen me! Amazing isn't it?"
He puts his glove back on, looking at the hand fondly as you went silent. That was supposed to be amazing? Didn't he still die? What about his family and friends?
Despite your questions, his expression didn't falter as he calmly explained he had none. No friends and no family to come to his funeral. He died alone and seemed unfazed.
"That's enough about me though, we should be getting you home now."
Sure enough, he was right, however, something seemed off. How was it that he knew the way to your house? Even when you questioned him though he seemed so nonchalant.
"I know because you fill me with hope," he says expression growing dark, "I know from the way you walk to the way you talk, to the way you even eat your meals that you are what I need. It was such great luck for you to walk by tonight where I could talk to you where I can finally tell you how I feel."
Pinning you to a nearby wall he smiles as he asks you too frozen by fear to scream, "Did you think that any zombie would be so harmless? My goal is to bring hope to the world and in order to do so, I need you. You awaken the purest hope sleeping inside of me and for that, I can never let you go."
Before you can respond to his delusions he presses his lips to your own and that was the last of what you could remember when you woke up in your bed.
It was just a dream, it had to be you thought, but when you opened that bag and found a note in it you knew immediately that it was all true. You were being stalked by a Zombie of all things.
Kazuichi (Gorgon)
You were going on a jog through the nearby park in the evening when you chanced upon a figure in the distance.
Although you only saw their back, they were dressed in the brightest jumpsuit you'd ever seen. They definitely couldn't be up to anything shady in such an ostentatious outfit, you thought, so you called out to them as you drew closer.
As soon as your words pierced their ears they perked up immediately running over to grab onto you sobbing about how he got "left behind," when suddenly he froze.
"Wa-wait you're not a..." letting go and backing up from you like you had the plague you noticed why he was freaking out. You definitely weren't a monster and he definitely was.
The two of you ended up screaming from the shock as the monster clumsily ran in the opposite direction, tripping over the roots of an overgrown tree and falling with a sickening snap.
You couldn't leave him like this. Even as you approached he seemed scared out of his wits, wincing away as you tried to help lift him up.
"Please don't hurt me! Please don't kill me I...I beg of you! I'll do whatever you say!" He cries out between sobs, not realizing that you are just trying to help him out.
However, he was struggling far too much to help him either so you had no choice but to sit yourself down and reassure him.
"But how can I even know you're telling the truth!? What if you're just going to kill me later?" Despite his sobbing finally melting into mere shaky breathes he looks at you with nothing more than distrust as he tosses accusations around.
He might not believe you but at least he isn't thrashing about like a caged animal. This time promising, not to hurt him, you help him up allowing him to lean on you as he winces in pain.
"Shit, I think...I think I really hurt my ankle. It hurts just to stand!"
Though he had acted so high and mighty a moment ago, he instantly melts into your touch, letting you do most of the work as you walk to your house.
There was no way to transport him anywhere else without some basic medical attention at least. An idea that he wouldn't have taken kindly to if not from being so exhausted from your interactions in the forest.
Struggling to get your key out of your pocket with him leaning on you, you manage to open the door and lead him to your couch so that he could rest.
Turning so that you close the door behind you two, you hear him speak up once again.
"Hey uh...about before and all, I don't normally act so, so lame. I'm normally a lot cooler than that and-" You held back a sigh, cutting off his lame excuses by telling him that you understand.
A heavy silence fell over the two of you, thicker than the uneasy tension in the air as you began to tend to his ankle.
Occasionally shooting an uneasy glance in your direction, he once again opens his mouth trying to say something only to close it again.
You really hadn't expected to encounter such a cowardly and awkward monster and yet here you were with one sat on your couch as you ended to his ankle with an air of uncertainty around the two of you.
This time, you spoke up, trying to get anything to rid you of the heavy feeling in the air as you spoke. Besides, you did have your own questions that you wanted to be answered.
For example, what exactly is he? You knew he wasn't human but with his beanie on all you could tell was that he had greenish skin and snakelike eyes.
"Oh, that? I'm...a Gorgon," he responds, rather awkwardly as he reluctantly pulls off his beanie to reveal bright pink snakes that contrast his green skin.
Cringing as you let out a gasp he prepares for you to laugh but instead is met with the exact opposite. Did you call him cool looking? He, he was cool to you?
Feeling pride swell within him he smiles at you, the awkward air finally for a moment. A moment that certainly did not last long as one of his own snakes bit him.
"Shit! The hat where's my hat!?" He exclaims, patting the arm of the couch for it when you notice how it fell out of his reach as more snakes readied to sink their teeth into his face.
Running over to grab the beanie you hand it to him as he quickly contains his snakes that let out an audible hiss of disapproval. "Argh, they always do this but uh thanks. I must seem pretty lame right now though huh?"
Seeming down already from the altercation with his snakes you assure him that he's not lame although you do wonder why they dislike him so much.
"Well, they've never got along with me since animals don't really like me at all but they started getting really violent after I learned magic to dye them pink."
He learned magic to make them pink? That was incredible, you mentioned, praising him and causing a small blush to coat his cheeks.
"Yeah, I learned from a friend of mine. She's a lich actually so it isn't really an impressive spell for her but I guess it is kinda cool that I could learn it, huh?"
Agreeing with him that it is indeed pretty cool that he could learn magic, you soon finished with his ankle.
However, even as you finished you both continued to talk throughout the night. Talking about his weird Turned Vampire Rival, and his Alien soul bro, and other fun topics.
You didn't realize it but it must have been so much fun that you eventually fell asleep beside him because you woke up still situated on the couch. However, when you looked over Kazuichi was gone.
It was if it all was a dream or so you thought until that same awkward Gorgon appeared on your doorstep in the middle of the night days later.
Seeming nervous as usual he gave you a small smile. "Hey, S/o, yah mind if I come in?"
Despite your sleepy daze, you nodded as you led him to the same couch that you had fallen asleep on after talking to him for the whole night and took your own place next to him.
Per usual he was fidgety and nervous but you did notice one thing different about him. Unlike the last time, you saw him he had a one snake peeking out from his hat that was happily swaying as you sat next to him.
Following your gaze on the little guy, he began to blush again as he stammered an apology. "Sorry, I guess Lugnut is just really happy to see you again. I don't always tuck him in because he's the only one that can stand me, at least most days. When we met last time he hissed at me in the morning so I kinda just tucked him with the rest."
Scratching his head he waits for a response as you just stare at him in disbelief. Did he just call his snake Lugnut? Did he really name them all like that?
"D-don't look at me like that! I have to call them something to tell the difference between them!" He whines as you let out a laugh now that your initial shock wore off.
"It's not funny! I told ya I needed to be able to tell the difference!" He protests again, only forgiving you once you apologize for all the laughter.
"Great, now that you're done laughing and all I did actually have something I wanted to say." He states as his hat begins to visibly move.
"I...I wanted to thank you for last time. I know I acted like I didn't trust you the whole time and that I disappeared even though I was hurt but I really like you."
He stops to take a deep breath as Lugnut begins to move around excitedly. "I know this is really fast but it's just that no one has ever called me cool the way you do, or listen to me really, or let me go on about what I like and, and I want to keep being able to!" he announces, never faltering as he looked you in the eyes.
"Even if you say no, I want to keep coming over and talking to you like we did the other night so will you let me come over again?"
SILV’S TOP 5 GAMES OF 2018
YEAH TIME TO DO THIS AGAIN! MIGHT AS WELL MAKE IT A TRADITION AT THIS POINT.
But before we get into the list proper I wanna give an honorable mention to both The Alliance Alive and Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. I’ve only been able to play a couple of hours of both and I like both but I can’t really give a good opinion of them. Now I’m sure none of  you have played or heard of The Alliance Alive but it’s a traditional JRPG for the 3DS published by ATLUS and developed by Cattle Call. It’s not well know but it’s pretty solid and has a nice art style. I just can’t put it on this list in good faith because I’ve only played like 2 hours of it lol
Mobile Honorable Mention: Soooooo shoutout to Dragalia Lost for not being a terrible gacha game. It’s actually....really fun? Yeah it is a gacha game but I have a team made of Nat 3* (lowest character rarity) that have all been upgraded to 5* and they kickass. Yeah, Nat 5*s are better but you don’t need them. Oh, and the devs (cygames) are cool and has given us a ton of free summons and are overall pretty open to improving the game based on feedback.
5.  Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory (PS4, Vita)
Wow, what a mouthful of a title. But yeah this is a side story that happens at the same time as the first Cyber Sleuth game and I really, really liked that game as well. This is basically more of the same but they added more Digimon (like fucking Megidramon yeaaaaaaah) It’s a JRPG where you can use an actual fuck ton of digimon in and build any kind of team you want. If you like Digimon and have a PS4 consider playing the Cyber Sleuth games. I bet you can find them for used pretty cheap as well.
Wouldn’t be a game of the year list for me without a turn based combat game.
(there’s like no gifs of this game on Tumblr, or anywhere, so here’s a pic of Megidramon in the game)
Tumblr media
4. Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (PS4, XBox One)
This is the game I was waiting to get for Christmas to play. So yeah, it’s fucking Spyro and it’s still good. Spyro controls really well (feels a tad different than old Spyro, but not that much he still controls great overall) It looks gorgeous and the animations are fantastic. Not much more to say. There are a few frame hiccups here and there but nothing that is that big of an issue. Honestly, I saw it the most in the first game and not so much in the others.
Who would have figured that a good game is still good when remade well?
Tumblr media
3. Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Switch)
So I completely ignored Smash 4. Like, I own it for the Wii U but I didn’t play it that much at all. Ultimate is the exact opposite. It’s so fun. I’ve been having a great time with the Spirits mode because you can make some absurd combinations. Online is a little...eh right now but I’ve had plenty of fun matches. I even bought the fucking Fighters Pass and I never do shit like that.
I “main” Bowser, Ridley, Incineroar, and Robin.
Tumblr media
2. Monster Hunter World (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Okay, so I fucking love Monster Hunter. It’s one of those games that I always thought I wouldn’t like but I one day picked up MH3U for the 3DS and played it for hours on end. MHW took that feeling I had in 3U and cranked it up a notch or ten. It was the perfect way to bring MH into the full HD console era. The monsters are both familiar and new (aka Rath is still a pain the ass to fight) and the new monsters added are great. The only issue is at launch it didn’t have a ton of monsters, compared to other current MH games, but that issue has been ironed out a tad.
I can’t wait for the next World-type MH game because I know it will be even better than this one. (or at least I hope it will lol)
Tumblr media
1. Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (PS4, Vita, PC)
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay! I knoooooow this game came out last year but I’m breaking that rule mostly because I love this game so much. So like I didn’t really get interested in Dangronpa until earlier this year when John Wolfe, aka HarshlyCritical, on youtube started playing through the games. I enjoyed DR1 and DR2 but when he got to V3, he took a veeeeeery long break after the 4th Trial and I had to see what happened for myself so I bought it as soon as my internet data cap reset.
I know a game is good when a part of it causes me to either say up until 3 am to finish it and/or causes a serious pit in my stomach because I’m so worried about what’s going to happen. V3 did both. I know the ending is polarizing, but I fucking LOVED IT. Does the game have issues? Yeah sure, every game does but the pros outweigh the cons greatly for me. In DR1 and DR2 there were characters I loathed, V3 did not have that issue for me. There were characters I dislike, but I don’t hold any in contempt.
I, honestly, can’t even tell you guys why I love this game so much because of spoilers. I can’t even say why Chapter 1 is so good without spoiling anything! (and yes I liked Chapter 1 as well, fite me) It’s obviously not for everyone. It is a visual novel and has a very odd art style, but when a game makes me really think about an ending for a few days, I know it was good.
Hell I love this game so much, I bought it twice!
Tumblr media
Along with the other games because I don’t own them yet and I feel like should...
Why are there no good gifs of this game on tumblr that aren’t spoilers or memes (or Kokichi)? Non-spoiler CG it is.
