A huge factor into why I'm interested in megumi is quite literally seeing him grow with his ct, and seeing him accomplishing his domain, etc is very satisfying, but I think it's pretty much inevitable that sukuna will cast the completed chimera shadow domain (don't like that idea at all), and yeah, we don't know this for a fact and I'm very much jumping the gun, but the silver lining I see is sukuna once again acting as a unintentional or intentional mentor for megumi yk. I'm like 96.4% sure megumi is not dead (could be wrong idk anymore 馃槶).
I sound very much as though I don't care for character arcs, and solely care for power feats, but I promise I do care for the character development!! I regularly read and watch all sorts of series from different demographics, but im just specific with jjk for this ask. I just enjoy the ways in which authors can create power systems within its own world and seeing how characters respond to those rules, etc.
I'm wondering if gege will revisit the concept of being a good/bad person through megumi/yuji and if hana will play a role in that. I like how hana and megumi share the same "putting someone on a pedestal" thing and wonder if we'll see their relationship develop too (of she survives ofc haha 馃槩). Hana doesn't know megumi whatsoever, but I think she has more of an obsession with him than just a crush, and I do think her very rough childhood played into that, but only gege knows where this is going, so I guess we'll see hehe. They were both in a sense tricked by that someone (tsumiki, etc). Also, I don't know if it's intentional on gege's part, but is there a reason megumi was not able to deduce that tsumiki wasn't the same or is their dynamic truly a bit stunted where they don't know each other as well. I thought megumi would apologize too like he said, but I can't tell if it's intentional and it will lead to something more, or gege just wants to move the plot and won't explore those things anymore. Tsumiki did really feel as just a plot device, but I still hoped she wouldn't as I wanted to know her feelings on the situation and about her brother and her mom, etc, but I don't know how she would have survived now... but hope is always there I guess! No problem with that. I guess I say this bc I'm interested in knowing how megumi will overcome this need to ignore his own goodness to uplift those worthy individuals (tsumiki and yuji) and I always thought that seeing tsumiki as an actual person capable of good and bad would have challenged him, so I'm curious if that's still what we'll be exploring with megumi or if it doesn't matter anymore and he just died like a fool.
This is definitely the fight obsessed part of me, but ever since we knew that no ten shadows user in history has tamed mahoraga, the thought of megumi being the first is always on my mind, but I may have to settle for mahoraga being tamed by sukuna even if just for a short while. I'm jumping the gun again, but on a happier note 馃槉 I've been having a ball seeing sukuna mess around again with the mcs 馃槶 he's so fun to watch, so I'm not completely negative just conflicted lol.
I love the "save me/you" concept that we've seen in yuji and megumi, so I think yuji will play a role in saving him so to speak or playing a big role in megumi saving himself. OR since gege is using the titles to parallel the first few chapters of the series, we may get megumi dying in front of yuji after taking some control back and waha its sad again !! (Don't know how to feel about this theory either) It's fun thinking of ways this could go and gege has clearly thought of these moments in the story as he's clearly expressed what sukuna would do to megumi. I wonder what that interviewer thought when he heard gege speak lmao and if what happened in 212 and beyond is what he told him a while ago 馃
What do believe to be a fulfilling character arc for megumi? I don't mind him dying or living, but not in this very moment hehe 馃槂
Sorry for the big ask again, but thanks again for reading!!
HOLA!
Oh my! Thanks for reaching out and sharing your #thoughts with me! I love all the #thoughts. There was so much juiciness to brainrot about!
My own #thoughts in response to your #thoughts under the cut!
A huge factor into why I'm interested in megumi is quite literally seeing him grow with his ct, and seeing him accomplishing his domain, etc is very satisfying,
Ugh! I KNOW! Satisfying is exactly the right word for it.
Honestly, Megumi is beautifully written.
I think it's pretty much inevitable that sukuna will cast the completed chimera shadow domain (don't like that idea at all), and yeah, we don't know this for a fact and I'm very much jumping the gun, but the silver lining I see is sukuna once again acting as a unintentional or intentional mentor for megumi yk
Yeah I have to agree with you on this. Something interesting is happening because Sukuna is clearly better able to use or make the most out of Megumi's Cursed Technique.
Tumblr media
What I am not sure is whether this is due to Megumi's mentality still limiting what he can do or whether this is Sukuna simply being more powerful.
Thoughts?
Like in my head, Megumi should be able to accomplish the same, he just doesn't know that he doesn't know that he can do it. That said, Sukuna has been a catalyst for realizations like that in the past, so as you say, Megumi might grow because of Sukuna.
Which is also kind of interesting because Sukuna is equally impressed by Megumi...
Tumblr media
Also... about Megumi's domain... gosh... yeah I must admit I am not a fan of Megumi not being the one who maximizes his own potential.
I have mixed thoughts on what exactly Sukuna is and isn't because of the whole mind = body = soul relationship and how he's just body-hopping and overriding other people's mind's information to merge with the soul and body.
So in a sense this is still Megumi but it isn't Megumi? Because in the end, this is Megumi's body and soul.
Tumblr media
Regardless... I'm sure Sukuna will do something big with Megumi's domain and I do hope that, as you say, Megumi will learn from Sukuna because of it.
"I'm like 96.4% sure megumi is not dead"
That deserved to be made a title because of how specific you are about it lol. Don't hesitate to send in your theories. I'm collecting "the mental gymnastics Megumi fans will do to convince themselves he's still alive".
I do hope you're right tho and will light some prayer candles just to make sure your theory manifests.
I've made peace with Megumi not coming back but I'll still be disappointed if he doesn't which means I have not made peace with it at all.
Also... I am super curious about the other 3.6%...?
I sound very much as though I don't care for character arcs, and solely care for power feats, but I promise I do care for the character development!!... I just enjoy the ways in which authors can create power systems within its own world and seeing how characters respond to those rules, etc.
I'd say you get it. In JJK power = character development and psychological wholeness. It's a nice twist on the trope and Gege has done a good job with it.
In retrospect, I really do think the Culling Game arc has been about showing that relationship between power and the power system in JJK, how it relates to the sorcerer's personality, how the characters respond to those rules, and how they grow and get stronger as a result.
Like... don't get me wrong, I've been consuming Shonen for yeeeeears and while I appreciate Goku powering up because he was like...
Tumblr media
"AAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!"
I also really like how Gege pushes his characters to grow outside of long drawn out screaming.
I'm wondering if gege will revisit the concept of being a good/bad person through megumi/yuji and if hana will play a role in that.
Personally, I hope and think so.
How deeply he'll elaborate and/or how he executes is what is unsure. He might hide the struggle in the symbols.
Actually, as a symbol, Hana's Cursed Technique is a massive rabbit hole that gets at the core of good vs. evil. I'm working on writing this super nerdy meta about it. Stay tuned!
What I will say about Hana right now is that she sort of symbolizes light.
Tumblr media
So it's an interesting symbol to bring in for a dynamic with a character like Megumi who represents the shadow.
If you think about it, dark is in need of light.
I'd say there's something there worth exploring.
I like how hana and megumi share the same "putting someone on a pedestal"... Hana doesn't know megumi whatsoever, but I think she has more of an obsession with him than just a crush, and I do think her very rough childhood played into that
Yes! Such a good point! I noticed the same thing about her. Going back to the idea of light, think of how light also make shadows all the more obvious and pronounced. So to me, from a psychological perspective, Hana's obsession is a sort of balance to her "light".
When you look at it like that, the Hana/Megumi parallels are interesting and I also wonder where Gege will go with them given Sukumi just betrayed Hana the way Yorozu betrayed Megumi.
is there a reason megumi was not able to deduce that tsumiki wasn't the same or is their dynamic truly a bit stunted where they don't know each other as well
Ah so, while I can see why people think this is the case, I personally don't interpret like this.
So for one, I do think that the relational dynamic is stunted and that it carries Pygmalion and the Princess and her Knight undertones. This involves how much Megumi idolizes Tsumiki as this epitome of goodness because it appears as though to Megumi, Tsumiki doesn't have a will of her own. Rather, she's an object upon whom he can project his emotional world and everything that is good about himself.
As an object that carries a projection of his emotional world, Tsumiki is also a Sleeping Beauty. Which can be taken as a metaphor for the status of Megumi's own emotional self--cursed to sleep for a hundred years.
Maybe I should expand upon this symbol in more detail. But for the sake of time what I'll say is that Sleeping Beauty is about awakening the feminine principle in order to achieve inner-balance between mind and heart/soul.
In JJK, Megumi's feminine principle has awakened, literalized by Tsumiki waking up, but the twist is that this carrier of Megumi's emotional world is now a cursed existence.
Tumblr media
So it's almost like the Sleeping Beauty has turned against Megumi's immature perception of her. She has a will of her own and is not afraid to do as her sense of self is pleased.
I like that Gege has given us this twist to this dynamic because it gives us another look at Megumi's immature perception of the world and where he needs to grow.
JJK is a true tragedy in that its character's flaws are what ushers their ultimate downfall, and the way Gege is executing is very Jungian to boot.
Not sure if Megumi will grow from this experience because of that 3.6% possibility that he is dead, but the thing about the Princess and her Knight trope is that the Knight in question might eventually learn to see the real heart under the projections he casted upon her.
Twelve from Terror in Resonance is a favorite example of this trope's execution where, after dragging his Fair Lady into trouble, Twelve eventually sees her for who she is. In other words, the Sleeping Beauty comes to life in her own right and the Knight recognizes her true essence and achieves wholeness within himself.
So there's A LOT of possible character development in store for Megumi if he's 96.4% alive given all of the symbolism surrounding Jacob's Ladder and even Kon as the alchemical principle of antimony which unifies opposites.
All of this said, I've read quite a bit of discourse about how Megumi should have known this wasn't Tsumiki that I personally don't agree with.
First, I don't think that because Megumi idealized her that he didn't know her. I find that to be a massive leap of faith in logic because Yorozu was acting based on information she had about Megumi. In a sense, she always had the upper hand.
Again... Reggie cursed Megumi to die a fool.
What's more foolish than looking down on Remi for having failed to recognize Reggie was no longer who she thought he was, and then dying because of it?
Tumblr media
So to me, its more of a question of Megumi failing to recognize this was not Tsumiki's soul / temperament.
There's a couple of characters that are favorites of mine who fool others because they walk a fine line between who they pretend to be and who they are at their core.
Tumblr media
People can say and behave in one way, but temperament is an entirely different thing.
In Tokyo Babylon, Seishiro acts a certain way, and even though Subaru seems to be aware of it, he ignores his intuition about it because Subaru enjoyed Seishiro's temperament.
The way I see it, by the mere fact that they grew up together, Megumi is familiar with Tsumiki's idiosyncrasies and/or temperament. You know, the small things that make her Tsumiki.
Like what she might say in any given moment.
Tumblr media
Or how she might behave in specific circumstances.
Tumblr media
I personally see these panels as Megumi noticing that something was off but that he ignored his intuition because Yorozu is pretty much an optical illusion. Again, she is someone with access to Tsumiki's mind's information.
But that's how I see it at least.
If I'm honest, this all makes me wonder why Yorozu played coy. Why not just beat him to a pulp and enter the Culling Game? Was she enjoying humoring Megumi?
Or is this simply a plot hole for the sake of shock value?
ANYWAYS. I hope that I didn't go on an unrelated tangent as per usual. Moving on!
I thought megumi would apologize too like he said, but I can't tell if it's intentional and it will lead to something more, or gege just wants to move the plot and won't explore those things anymore.
Ah I feel the same way!
There's so many little details that feel like might be left unresolved. So far it looks like Gege is paying off on his promises so I wonder if he's going to deliver some angsty moment where Megumi apologizes because Sukuna killed her. Perhaps not that precisely but I wouldn't put it past the cursed cat.
I always thought that seeing tsumiki as an actual person capable of good and bad would have challenged him, so I'm curious if that's still what we'll be exploring with megumi or if it doesn't matter anymore and he just died like a fool.
Oh this is GOOD stuff. Not the part about Megumi dying like a fool but... y'know.
Again, "go back to sleep Tsumiki. I am busy protecting you."
Honestly, I am not sure what I like the most about how things unfolded... that Megumi's soul broke because Tsumiki might be dead, or that Megumi's soul broke because she has a will of her own when she never did before lol.
Again. I am eager to see how Gege executes on the trope.
on a happier note 馃槉 I've been having a ball seeing sukuna mess around again with the mcs 馃槶 he's so fun to watch
Yeessssss... sort of... not really... but still... yeeeeeeessss...
I love Sukuna and I love that every time Sukuna shows up he just has this overbearing and amazing sense of self that comes through the page in such a beautiful way.
I kind of just wish he want back to Yuji's body for that lol.
But ok, FINE! Go forth Sukumi! I'm looking forward to seeing what shenanigans he gets into this time.
Sort of... not really... ok maybe.
OMG YES!
Tumblr media
Wait... jk, noooooooooooo!
This is interesting because Jacob's Ladder also gets at the core of the idea of the human heart. OMG what is Gege planning?!!!
CURSED CAT!
ok I personally think it's a bit too predictable for Megumi to do a reverse uno from chapter 9, but it is also very likely to happen. Sad indeed.
Gege did drop possible foreshadowing about Megumi's death, but it could also very well be a red herring.
Tumblr media
The reference to Patrasche is very tragic. You can read about A Dog of Flanders in Wikipedia, which has a quick summary of the story and mentions a couple of anime adaptations of the story.
In a nutshell, A Dog of Flanders is about a boy (who happens to be an orphan like a certain someone) with a very tragic life and his very tragic death.
Anyways, thanks for sharing this theory. I loved the continuity that Gege brought in from chapter 9 but I never thought to explore the end of the arc.
What do believe to be a fulfilling character arc for megumi? I don't mind him dying or living, but not in this very moment hehe 馃槂
Shoot. I have no clue!!! I'm really focused on taking each chapter at a time and not getting my hopes up about Megumi coming back. This is my own personal way of not getting hurt heh. I just don't want to be disappointed because Gege is unpredictable af sometimes.
WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I AM TOTALLY SPECULATING ON WHAT COULD HAPPEN.
So... I keep referring to Jacob's Ladder because as a symbol it represents the upward mobility of the soul. There's a clear theme of corruption and redemption of the self. So I feel like a fulfilling arc would be Megumi doing the whole union of opposites thing (remember the Sleeping Beauty references?) and re-awakening and overpowering Sukuna's sense of self.
After all, Gege already made it a point to make a distinction between how some people can be a vessels and others can be cages. I think it might be a theme of overcoming evil within oneself.
Tumblr media
Thanks for reaching out again!!!
It's always good to brainrot and chat with others about JJK so thank you for sending in your thoughts. Keep them coming if you wish :)
Apologies on the delayed answer as well.

Omegaverse
Omega! Tamaki Amajiki x Alpha! Reader
No warning, just alpha and omega dynamics
It did not come to you as a surprise that the shy hero was not an alpha. Not at all. You've been observing him since the moment you joined Fatgum's agency for internship, even before you two were formally introduced. Which was a while ago, considering now you worked there full time as pro heroes. However It still left you feeling amused that not only Tamaki was not an alpha, he was not a beta either. No, he was straight up an omega. Which is very admirable to you. An omega Hero, especially one this shy.
However 'amused' was the very polite way to put it. Knowing he was an omega stirred the alpha inside you to flood your mind with such unholy thoughts at the worst possible moments and it was such a pain in the behind since you've barely managed to befriend the boy enough not to stutter while talking to you.
In your defense it was a whole other task to get him to speak at all, it was rewarding though. You enjoyed his little perky excited moments when he talked about his favourite book or band, then he'd flush and ask you about yours, then he'd look interested no matter what you replied.
The situation right now was no different. He had told you about his 'big secret' not only a week ago and now You were walking nonchalantly besides him on patrol, shooting him soft smiles when he glanced your way while the alpha inside was grumbling and groaning like an intolerable brat to 'make a damn move!'
It wasn't like you were hopeless, he had clearly trusted you and you two were close enough that he came to you with what troubled him. You were a close friend, what was bothersome was that you didn't know if he wanted to be more and didn't dare bring it up in fear it would shatter your delicate friendship.
What had been troubling him recently was concerning for you too. He had told you how some other heroes from another neighboring agency had seen him when he had to take his suppressants. Simply said, they've had figured out he was an omega. You tried to assure him that it was okay being who he was and that he was such an awesome hero, didn't matter alpha or omega. Despite the fact that inside you were dying to know what he actually smelled like without those suppressants.
Unfortunately for you not all alphas saw omegas the same as equals. Rounding a corner inside a mostly deserted alleyway, you two met another patrol that was not supposed to be there. Assuming they were there early you didn't care as you walked towards them but slowed down immediately when you sensed something was off. You glanced at Tamaki curiously looking all tensed up and fidgety then at the other 2 that had closed the distance between you by now. Then it clicked. You stopped staring them down as they did the same to you before turning their attention back on him with stupid grins. "Hey there little omega." Tamaki almost visibly flinched. "Aw don't be shy now, lil' shrimp. We actual heroes don't hurt little omegas."
The uneasiness was radiating off of Tamaki in waves and it was affecting you heavily as you let a low growl slip past your lips. The two of them turned their eyes on you as well as Tamaki who looked at you with surprised wide eyes. "Oh c'mon now, you are one of us! We are the same (L/N), right?" You raised an eywbrow. As much as you wanted to personally knock these idiots down a few notches you had a way better idea. You smiled at them "yes, we are." Tamaki blinked a few times not believing what he heard you say until, "and all 3 of us are inferior to the hero he is." They stopped grinning by then "is that a challenge?" As pleasantly surprised as Tamaki was, god did he wish you had not said that second part. "Yes, He can make your quirks look like simple child play. Right here. Right now." Or this part. "What will we get since we are definitely winning this?" At that Tamaki actually walked away to stare at the wall and try to shut the 3 of you out. You felt bad for doing this but it had to be done once and for all and you were there to see it done properly. "You get to be the jerks you are to the 2 of us. If we win, you will forever shut up about omegas being inferior in hero work. And you will both apologise to Tamaki." They shrugged smirking smugly "sure, hot shot. Let's see what he's got." You nodded and walked over to Tamaki who was now rocking back and forth on his tiptoes as he faced the wall looking gloomy. Kinda cute...
You put a hand on his shoulder and felt a twinge of pain in your heart since he flinched ever so softly, but didn't shrug your hand off. You turned him to face you and grabbed his other shoulder making him look at you in the eyes terrified. Ouch. The alpha wanted nothing more to just hug and spoil the distressed omega in front of you. But now was not the time. "We've got this in the bag 'Maji." You said your voice soft and velvety. Comforting. He stopped rocking but looked as unsure as ever "I can't just go against 2 alphas! What have you done (y/n)!..." he whispered. And. Pouted. You were on the verge of taking him away from there right now but you held back. "You will beat them. I've seen them before in action. One has a simple electric shock quirk, you've had eel as lunch didn't you? He is nothing. You can repel his electricity. If not just immobilize them with your tentacles." He listened the whole way, then shook his head "but!.. I... can't..." you moved your hand from his shoulder and cupped his cheek stroking your thumb over it lightly "you've faced villains you knew nothing about and you 'could' with no problem. This is just a friendly challenge... well one that if you don't we will probably need to slave around for them for a while." You sighed. He looked at you quietly for a few moments. He could not have that happen. He didn't mind being bullied by those two but the idea of them bullying you around. Because of him none the less. He took in a deep breath and nod his head walking over towards the 2 leaving you in awe with a slightly open mouth.
The two did fool around and threw a bunch of taunts but it was over for them unbelievably fast. For the most part he was glad for your hints, repelling the shock that was sent his way and immobilizing the other guy with it. The part where he sprout 2 chicken wings and soared towards the other one to wrap him up in tentacles was purely on him. 'Show off.' You smiled to yourself as the two apologised to him and scuried off with their tails between their legs. You stood there watching Tamaki's back as he watched the 2 leave unmoving till they were out of sight. "Well hero you just saved both our butts." he turned to you the biggest grin on his face beaming as he practically hopped over "did you see that?! They apologised! I won!" There it was. One of his cute little outbursts that you knew would be your doom one day.
Before you could think properly you grabbed him by the collar and pulled him in, crashing your lips against his.
His eyes widened, face flushing instantly as he went rigid for a second. But just as you were about to pull back ready to beg for forgiveness on your knees, he parted his lips, his tongue timidly licking your upper lip before sucking on it gently, a soft little hum escaping him, making you blush in return. The tips of his ears turned bright red as he pulled back looking to the side nervously "I... didn't know you felt like that (y/n)..." he tried to play it cool attempting to make it less awkward. The attempt failed as this new sweet scent started filling your nose and numb out all the rest. His sweet scent. You smirked and his breath hitched as you backed him into the opposite wall leaning close to him with your hands on either side of his head "is that so? Well I've been feeling 'like that' for a while now. What about you?" He tried escaping your eyes but you ran your fingers on his jaw tilting his chin to look at you. "I feel... the same..." he almost squeaked out doing well holding your intense gaze "I'm so happy to know that." You smiled and for once the alpha inside you felt a little more appreciative. You leaned in again kissing him on the lips as your fingers trailed over to comb through his hair gently, letting your finger tips massage his sculp. It made him moan quietly and part his lips for you, this time you slipping your tongue past them, tracing his teeth before venturing deeper into his mouth, tugging very lightly on his hair to pull him closer to you. Feeling something touch the side of your hip quite roughly, you had to stop and pull back, the action drew a quiet strangled moan out of him, and you wanted to ravage him right then just hearing that. He seemed to have the same plan cause the sight of his tentacle fingers slowly wrapping around your waist and hooking into the waistbands of your pants was what you were met with as you looked down.

Everything But Political
Request-"thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuu! So YN Hale Underwood is the first daughter, and she's pretty much like her mom (the only person both really trust) she's stoic and shy, tries to avoid the spotlight as much as she can but is brilliant in all the she does. Duncan has been in love with her since forever, but never managed to confess to her(his cockiness dissapears when she's around) so,after a lot or twits and turns he finally admits it and happy stuff. what do you think?"
Summery-"(Y/N) Hale-Underwood is her mother's pride and joy and loyal to a T. She has had a constant love hate relationship with the one and only Duncan Shepherd but little does she know he has loved her since they were little. How will this turn out?"
Pairings- Duncan Shepherd x Reader
Warnings- politics but not really if anyone cares about that, this is mostly just fluff for our Dunkin Donut.
*I hope you guys enjoy this story typed it up in little under 3 and a half hours! My request are always open I write for Cody and any character he has played minus David to respect him as a person who sadly lost his life. I also write for other AHS character so feel to request away!*
(Y/N) Hale-Underwood the poster child for America, her mother's pride and joy and she took that role and that spot light very very seriously. She loved her mother dearly and was loyal to the core. After her father died (Y/N) took up the protecter role of the family. She was her mother's rock, her supporting shoulder and she would do anything for her mother. If Claire need a break (Y/N) would step in to meeting for her mother without a second hesitation. Or if Claire just needed to vent the only person she would trust to vent everything to was (Y/N) to which (Y/N) would gladly sit for hours in her mother's room just listening, not talking that often because the way she saw it, she wasn't there to talk she was there to listen. So when Claire asked her to attend one of the annual Shepherd's Foundation events (Y/N) didn't refuse.
"Ah (Y/N) my dear, where is your mother?" Annette Shepherd, Claire's frenemie greats (Y/N) with a smile giving her a quick small hug. (Y/N) fakes a smile hugging her back thinking of the best way to answer her question knowing she's trying to get some kind of dirt on her mother.
"She had a press meeting and couldn't make it sadly so she sent me in her replace. She also sends her regards." (Y/N) says pulling away from Annette and she smooths out her form fitting navy blue pencil dress and Annette nods.
"Well my dear come in have fun you always more than welcome here." She beams up and (Y/N) and (Y/N) gives her a nod as she scans the room.
"Thank you Annette." (Y/N) says offering her a small smile as Annette walks off to great the new guest coming through the door.
From what Claire said this was a meeting about the incident that happened in Ohio, and the fact that she didn't trust the Shepherd's. (Y/N) was in the Oval office the previous night and watched Bill Shepherd quite literally guide her mother hand to sign his bill (Y/N) went on the defence.
(Y/N) moves quietly around the room, stopping periodically to very slyly listen in on people's conversations. Most are talking nonsense just there mundane day to day life and she rolls her eyes at their chit chat. But then there conversations that pique her interest, gossip about her mother and how she's the "anti-christ" to which (Y/N) nearly chokes on her drink trying not to laugh at the ridiculous theories/stories spun by the media. Then some hit very close to home, literally, and she has to bite her tongue to stop her from snapping back at the person spreading such lies.
(Y/N) opts to leave the main room, having heard enough, and she makes her way down the long white hallway leading to the main balcony where she sees her frenemie, Annette's son, Duncan. The two have grown up together seeing each other go through there each other's ups and downs, their worst days and their best. Growing up as little kids they were attached at the hip you would always find them together, you didn't have one if you had the other. But as they got older and realized where they stand that bond started to thin now when they did see each other it was a guessing game of are they going to get along like old times or be at each other's throats.
"Duncan." (Y/N) says coldly causing the taller brown head man to turn towards her and he gives her a once over before turning back to look out to the grounds of his Mother and Uncle's estate.
"(Y/N) what brings you here don't you have things to do for mommy." He mocks not moving his pale icy gaze to her and she scoffs at him.
"So this is how this interaction is going to go." She inquires sending a glare to the man next to her before folding her hands behind her back and she straighten out her posture. "I am her on my mother's behalf, I was hoping for a somewhat civil talk or else I would have never approached you Donut." (Y/N) smirks to herself knowing how much he hated when she called him that and as always he rolls his eyes finally looking down at her.
Little did (Y/N) know Duncan has been head over heels for her for has long has he can remember and he loves how loyal she is to her mother and he admires that deeply. He miss how they used to be before they fell into their places in the family dynamic and he wishes so badly to get back to that, but it seems like every time they are together it's like a game of russian roulette. Either they are how they used to be, laughing, relaxing, just being themselves enjoying each other's company. But more often than not they are like this, ever cold and stand offish with their guards up not trusting each other. Duncan can guess the reason for this interaction being cold was because of what is Uncle did the other night to which Duncan was outraged about. He argued that there were many other ways to go about getting the bill signed and that was not it, he felt so bad and he wanted to so badly call up (Y/N) and apologize but his ego stopped him.
"Look I'm sorry about what my uncle did I told him that was wrong." He speaks up breaking the tension tight silence that had fallen over them. (Y/N) looks up at him taken aback by his sudden sincere heart felt apology.
"You had no idea?" (Y/N) ask her ice cold front starting to melt as he nods. He turns his body slightly so he can fully face her and she does the same.
"If I had known I would have stopped him." He says softly as she sees him visibly relax has the tension fades between them. "Listen (Y/N) there is something I've been wanting to say this for a while now..."
"Duncan." Annette says from the end of the hall and he groans giving (Y/N) an apologetic look.
"Go for coffee with me later?" He asks glancing back up at his mother and (Y/N) nods softly.
"Yeah." (Y/N) says and she sees a smile tug at his lips has he brings her hand up to his lips and she places a soft kiss on her knuckles.
"I'll call you." He whisper dropping her hand and he walks off to his mother and (Y/N) nods softly feeling a little ping in her heart cursing herself for the feelings she harbors for her longest childhood friend.
(Y/N) returns home hours later completely exhausted tugging her heels off and she rolls her shoulders trying to release the tension of standing up straight for hours on end. She opens her closet and she steps out of her dress and she changes into something a lot more comfortable. She makes her way down to hallway to her mother's room and she knocks on the door softly waiting for the response.
"Come in." She hears her mother calm soothing voice sound from inside and she can't help but smile opening the door and she steps in. Claire was on the bed reading a book when (Y/N) walked in and the second she realizes it her daughter she smiles putting the book down, moving the blankets out of the way for (Y/N) to crawl in and lay her head on her mother's lap. "How did it go?" Claire asks running her fingers through (Y/N)'s hair causing her daughter to let out a sigh of relief.
"Well some people are convinced you're the anti-christ, hearing that nearly made me choke on my drink. Annette tried to get dirt on why you weren't there I told her you where busy off somewhere doing a press meeting she bought it. Bill was flaunting his victory with the bill I wanted to slap him right then and there." (Y/N) says with a sigh looking up at her mother and Claire smiles down at her tracing her daughter's beautiful features obviously getting them from her, it would be a lie if people didn't say she was almost a carbon copy of her.
"Did you see Duncan?" Claire asks caressing (Y/N)'s cheek and (Y/N) nods. "Did he say anything about how he's been whispering lies into the media's ear about me and your father?"
(Y/N) looks hurt learning this information, he had sounded so sincere in his apology he completely fooled her and that pained her. She thought that maybe they have gotten over the petty family rivalries and were getting back to how things used to be. Soon hurt gave way anger and boy was she mad, she wanted to march right to his apartment at that moment and give him a piece of her mind, "Yeah I saw him we spoke briefly but nothing of the matter was said that was important." (Y/N) says through almost gritted teeth and Claire picks up on that.
"He said something didn't he that's why you're angry." Claire says and (Y/N) closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.
"Yeah he said he was sorry for how his uncle did the other night with signing the bill, he sounded so sincere I believed him.....I should have know better." (Y/N) says anger laced into her words and Claire plays with her hair to soothe her.
"He's a Shepherd he can't be trusted they are dead set on tearing us down we can't let them in." Claire whispers holding (Y/N) close as (Y/N) feels tears fill her eyes.
"You're right thanks mom." (Y/N) says sitting up and she crawls out of bed walking to the door.
"You did great sweety you made me proud I love you." Claire says calling out to her daughter and (Y/N) nods not turning to face her.
"Thanks mom, I love you too." (Y/N) says in a low voice walking out of the room and down the hall. She slips on a pair of shoes and she walks out the front door.
"Annette isn't actually his mother, he's adopted." Claire says as (Y/N) closes the door knowing she going to confront Duncan.
"(Y/N) what the hell are you doing here so late?" Duncan says rubbing sleep from his beautiful icy blue eyes and (Y/N) glares pushing past him into his apartment.
"Care to explain why you've been spreading lies about my family to the media." (Y/N) snaps turning on her heels to face the man she loved to hate and hate to love standing by the door in his loose shorts and black t shirt.
"I...I, it's not me it's my mom she's just using me it's all her I'm just her attack dog." He sighs running a hand down his face as he very consciously walks towards (Y/N).
"Then why are you going through with it?!" (Y/N) shouts taking a step back from him, "Why? Fucking tell me Duncan! I actually believe you felt sorry earlier I thought you had changed!"
"(Y/N) Listen to me I can't just not listen to my mom, but I was sorry earlier." Duncan defends taking another step towards (Y/N).
"She's not even your real mom Duncan! You're adopted you don't owe her shit!" (Y/N) shouts and Duncan stops dead in his tracts.
"I'm what?" He asks and (Y/N) curses herself for letting that slip.
"Duncan I shouldn't have told you that." (Y/N) says dropping her anger and she steps towards him.
"No no don't I need to know." He says taking a deep breath but (Y/N) hears the stutter in it and she can tell he was about to cry.
"It wasn't my place to tell you I'm sorry Donut." (Y/N) says placing her hand on his shoulder and he pulls her fully to her holding her tight.
"No thank you, I would rather it have been you." He whispers through tears as the rock through his body and he shakes against her.
"Hey Donut, look at me." (Y/N) whispers pulling back and he meets her gaze and she reaches up to wipe his tears away. "You don't have to listen to her anymore, I can talk to my mother get you a pardon."
Duncan laughs slightly nodding his head, "You know there has always been something I've wanted to tell you for many many years now." He whispers his eyes flickering down to (Y/N)'s lips then back up to her eyes, "I have loved you since we were kids."
(Y/N) gasps slightly as he closes the gap and he kisses her, letting years of bottled up emotions take over not wanting to miss a single moment. "I love you too Duncan." She whispers breathlessly as they break the kiss.
"Fuck politics this is all that matters." Duncan whispers before kissing her again finally understanding the meaning to all of this their lives. It all fell into place in that single moment, he knew that their whole lives lead up to this moment and he was grateful. He finally had her and he was letting go he was going to hold on and fight with everything to keep this. He was home.
